It's you X Elizabeth Olsen (Fem Reader- Requested)
MasterList
Marvel MasterList
The bell above the cafĂŠ door jingled softly as I stepped inside, escaping the crisp autumn air. My fingers, half-numb from the chill, wrapped gratefully around the warm mug of hot chocolate Iâd just been handed. The familiar scent of fresh coffee beans, pastries, and cinnamon took me back years back, in fact.
This little cafĂŠ, nestled on the corner of our quiet high street, hadnât changed one bit. The same mismatched chairs, the chalkboard menu with smudged lettering, and the barista with the wild hair and tattoos still manning the espresso machine like he was creating art instead of drinks.
I smiled to myself and made my way to my favourite corner table the one next to the foggy window overlooking the street where weâd all once spent hours after school, laughing and scribbling song lyrics onto napkins. Nostalgia settled over me like a soft blanket. It had been years since Iâd been back home, and even longer since Iâd let myself sit in memories like this.
Just as I pulled out my phone to scroll aimlessly, a familiar voice rang out behind me. One I hadnât heard in what felt like a lifetime.
âY/n?â
I froze. No way. That couldnât be... I turned slowly, and there she was.
Elizabeth. Standing right there in the doorway, wool coat wrapped tightly around her, a coffee cup in one hand, sunglasses pushed up into her hair. Her eyes widened in disbelief as our gazes locked.
âLizzie?â I breathed, standing up.
We stared at each other for a long second, both of us frozen in the moment before everything caught up and suddenly we were laughing, colliding into a hug so tight it knocked the wind out of me.
âOh my God,â she said against my shoulder. âIs it really you?â
âI should be asking you that,â I laughed, pulling back to look at her properly. âYouâre actually here? In this tiny town?â
She grinned, cheeks flushed. âIâm visiting my parents. Just for the week. I needed a break from LA.â
We stood there for a second longer, both still a bit stunned, and then she nodded towards my table.
âCan I join you?â
âOf course,â I said quickly, heart racing with happiness. âPlease, sit.â
She dropped her bag onto the chair opposite mine and peeled off her coat. It felt like no time had passed at all.
âSo,â she said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, âwhat are the odds, huh?â
I shook my head, still in disbelief. âIf youâd told teenage me that Iâd run into you here after all these years, I wouldnât have believed it.â
She smiled softly, her gaze flickering down to her drink. âYeah⌠itâs been a while, hasnât it?â
âNearly six years, I think,â I murmured. âSince you moved to LA.â
Elizabeth nodded, sighing. âFeels longer and shorter at the same time. Life just⌠swept me up.â
âIt does that.â
We both paused, the years suddenly stretching out between us like a tightrope we were about to walk. But then she reached across the table, placed her hand on mine, and said, âIâve missed you, you know.â
My throat tightened.
âIâve missed you too,â I whispered.
From there, the conversation flowed effortlessly. We traded stories like old records scratched at the edges but still beautiful. She told me about the chaos of film sets, the nights spent learning lines, the weird loneliness of being surrounded by people and still feeling a little adrift. I told her about staying in our hometown, working at the gallery, painting when inspiration hit, trying to figure life out one day at a time.
We talked about old teachers, ex's, sleepovers where weâd stayed up all night whispering about what our futures might look like.
âYou always said youâd end up in New York,â she teased, sipping her latte.
I chuckled. âAnd you always said Hollywood was overrated.â
âTouchĂŠ,â she grinned.
We laughed until our cheeks hurt. Somewhere between the second and third cup of coffee, she leaned back in her chair and said quietly, âI was always scared Iâd come back and things wouldnât feel the same. That we wouldnât.â
I looked at her for a long moment. âBut they do, donât they?â
She nodded, eyes soft. âYeah. They really do.â
The light outside had started to dim, casting a golden glow across her features. She looked older, of course we both did. But the laugh lines near her eyes, the familiar tilt of her smile⌠that was still my Lizzie.
We walked out of the cafĂŠ together, bundled up in scarves and coats, the crisp air biting at our cheeks. The street was quiet, just like always, and we wandered aimlessly, passing the bookshop where we used to sit in the window and read poetry to each other.
âRemember when you tried to convince me to audition for the school play?â she laughed.
âYou wouldâve made a brilliant Juliet.â
âI had the emotional range of a damp sponge at sixteen,â she smirked.
I bumped her shoulder gently. âYou were brilliant even then.â
We paused at the old park, its swings creaking in the breeze.
âEverything feels smaller,â she said quietly.
âYeah,â I agreed. âBut you know⌠maybe we just got bigger.â
She looked at me then, eyes shining. âCan we do this again before I leave? Maybe dinner? Or God, even just a walk like this?â
I smiled, heart full. âIâd love that.â
âGood.â She looked relieved. âBecause I meant it Iâve missed you. And I donât want to go another six years without talking.â
âYou wonât,â I promised.
We stood there a little longer, two girls who had once shared secrets under starlit skies, now grown and weathered by life but still tethered by something unshakeable.
Finally, she hugged me again tight, warm, familiar.
A week later, I found myself at the same cafĂŠ, heart thudding in anticipation. The door swung open, and there she was smiling like no time had passed.
We spent the evening in a booth tucked in the back, trading stories, dreams, and the kind of laughter that only comes when you're truly at ease. At one point, she pulled out her phone and showed me a photo from years ago us, seventeen, arms slung around each other, ridiculous hats on our heads.
"Look at us," she said, eyes glinting. "We had no idea."
"No idea where we'd end up," I agreed.
"And yet here we are. Still... us."

CHARACTER ANALYSIS: EREN JAEGER AKA EJ THE DON
so in honor of me finally reviving Reverb, I decided to do some character analyses and info cards, if you will. These were so much fun (and a lot of work) to make and I really hope yâall like them. I was heavily inspired by a wonderful, talented mutual of mine and her amazing character analysis she did for her series a while back! As always, yâall know reblogs and comments are appreciated!! (Fair warning, this is a long read but itâs been in the works since last year and I hope yâall enjoy)
ââ*.¡:¡.⧠âŚâ§.¡:¡.*ââ ââ*.¡:¡.⧠âŚâ§.¡:¡.*ââ ââ*.¡:¡.⧠âŚâ§. âŚâ§.
name: Eren Michael Jaeger | date of birth + sign: March 31st, 1998 (aries sun) | age: 26 | aliases/nickname: EJ, Eren, EJ The Don, The Underground God, Rennie | pronouns: he/him/his | sexuality: straight (but a bit bi-curious) | race/ethnicity: white, italian/turkish + german
song in the video: ChainSwang - BONES (slowed and reverb ver.)
biography and early life: Eren was born in Montclair, New Jersey to his mother Carla and father, Dr. Grisha Jaeger. The couple met while Carla was working as a bottle girl at a gentlemanâs club called Starlets in New York, when she was nineteen years old. (age gap oops)
Grisha, who was working at Mount Sinai as part of his residency, was twenty seven at the time and married to (but separated from) socialite and heiress, Dina Fritz. The two were a classic case of opposites attracting and it didnât take long for their bond to flourish from a one night fling to something far more. A year into their relationship, Carla learned that she was pregnant and Grisha, who had annulled his first marriage some months prior, proposed right away and the couple settled in the suburbia township to raise their newborn son. Eren was described as a âvery enigmatic and unique childâ. Growing up, he was said to have always had a natural inclination towards music. From playing on toy keyboards to babbling songs into his Spider-Man karaoke machine at just three years old, it seemed that early on, the young prodigy was shaping his destiny. Eren attended the Montclair Township Charter Elementary, alongside his childhood best friends, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Artlert, who were among many of the children of affluent families. He was extremely intelligent and schoolwork was a breeze. The problem was that he could be less interested! Eren struggled to focus and with maintaining relationships, which worried his mom. She took him to therapists, sought counseling and even considered moving him to alternative school when he began getting into trouble.
She worried what would happen to himâŚbut luckily, her fears were for nothing because soon, Eren would show her and the entire world his true purpose. When he was ten years old, Carla enrolled her son in lessons for piano and guitar. During this time, he began to really hone his musical talent, and needless to say, he was a prodigy. All but mastering everyone he picked up. This seemed to be the area that little EJ most thrived in. Even his friendships began to grown. Having left New Jersey before they went to middle school, Mikasa and Armin were the only two people he'd bonded with. But eventually, Eren found companionship in several people from all walks of life and other areas of town. He didn't care about how much money someone had or what they looked like, he just enjoyed like minded people. Finding himself hanging out, playing basketball, skating and of course, making music. However, his father was less than pleased with his academic performance and new group of comrades. As the son of a prestigious doctor, Eren knew that his father wouldnât approve of his hobbies if his grades werenât up to par but he never expected that the catalyst for his dreams would be their falling out..when Eren was 15 years old, he made the decision to leave home and emancipate himself from his parents after a horrendous fallout with his dad.
It came as a shock to his friends, who felt that his life was objectively better than their own. However, it was the principle and anyone who truly knew the situation..knew that it was a long time coming and much deserved. Years of being put down or not acknowledged for refusing to follow in his footsteps and the final straw came when his father's cowardice and lying caused him to lose someone very important to him. Something that Eren could not forgive (explaining this later in the story!) After receiving $300 from his older half brother, young EJ boarded a bus to Miami, not looking back once. And he was fully prepared to make a life for himself, one not attached to his dad's name..no matter the cost. After arriving in Florida, Eren would work odd jobs to provide for himself and found housing at a local boys home in the Northside area. Just two blocks from Ocean Shore High School, where he finished out the remainder of his junior and senior years. It was then that he met fellow classmates and future group members Connie Springer and Onyakopon 'Ony' Baptiste (he doesn't canonically have a last name that I am aware of so I gave him one and I will explain it in his own backstory). The three of them immediately bonded and only grew closer when they played on the varsity basketball team together and began working at a local shoe store in the Aventura Mall. This would be the first time that the world would get a glimpse into Eren's musical talents when his friends would record him singing Miguel's "Sure Thing' in the backroom of the store and posted it online.
career: After going viral, Eren began to take his craft even more serious. Going from penning rhymes in his notebook between periods to doing makeshift recording sessions in the chorus classroom, he would post covers and original songs to a YouTube channel as well his Sound Cloud. He would save a portion of his paychecks and do yard, mechanic and janitorial work for neighbors to procure studio time. He eventually saved up and purchased a MacBook, and began making instrumentals. It was during this time that he began working a temp job for a local underground club, where artists like Denzel Curry, Ice Billion Berg and Pouya got their starts. Hired to clean up after sets and during closing, Eren would listen in on the performances, watching, studying and observing the rappers' movements. Having never done an official performance, it was an area he had no experience in. But during an open mic night at the club, he got an opportunity and didn't miss! Debuting one of his now infamous tracks, First Degree, Eren once again shocked everyone with how talented and charismatic he was. It was almost as if rapping and singing came as naturally as speaking did. Now 18 years old, graduated from high school and riding the momentum of his first stage set, Eren continued to grind. Working by day and recording and writing by night. It was then that he began going by the name EJ the Don after Ony joked about his New Jersey and Italian origins, implying that he must have 'mafia ties' because he assimilated into life in this rough area so well. His image and brand slowly came together afterwards..embracing the dark, edgy aesthetic coupled with his buttery smooth voice and unique lyricism, Eren was in a league all on his own.
And it didn't take long for the rising star to catch the attention of some big names in the industry, including renowned Neo-Soul artist and five time Grammy winner Vivian James. Who was not only doing a show at the Miami Amphitheater for a music festival but scouting prospects for the talent agency giant, Ackerman Management Group. Known for catapulting the careers of some of the biggest names in music, modeling and acting. Still building his reputation, EJ got the chance of a lifetime when he not only received a job request but an invitation from Vivian herself, looking for a backup vocalist and pianist. Naturally, being a huge fan on top of a starving artist, Eren immediately accepted and the rest was history! Vivian was blown away that he was able to recite the songs verbatim and so perfectly on such a short notice..so much so, she gave Eren an offer he couldn't refuse: an audition with AMG on the condition that he would work as her protege regardless and it was a no brainer. Two days after his nineteenth birthday, EJ the Don officially signed with Ackerman Management Group, the family business of his old childhood friend, Mikasa. Who was going by the stage name Mika ASH. But it wasn't smooth sailing for the new rap sensation..although he was Vivian's protege, he captured the attention of other executives who was interested in more than his music. Unfortunately, it caused them to try and take advantage of him, both career wise and physically. Eren persevered and focused on what his goal truly was and that was sharing his gift with the world. Six months after being signed, he released his first EP, Living Dead Boy. He went on tour shortly after and released Living Dead Boy II: The Casket Chronicles a year later. Fast forward and Eren took the 'horrorcore' rap scene and the internet by storm, with his gritty wordplay and captivating visuals. Ten years later, he is hailed as the Underground God and widely credited for reshaping the genre as a whole.
musical muses: BONES (the character playlist can be found here), $uicideBoys, August Alsina, Jon Dretto
notable achievements: LivingDeadBoy I sold 50,000 units its first week and debuted number seven on the charts. But his debut single, First Degree was number two on the charts and widely viral on social media. LivingDeadBoy II: The Casket Chronicles sold five times with 250,000 units and at just 20 years old, EJ had his first sold out tour in North America. His debut album was very successful and received two Grammy nominations. (even though he doesn't give a shit about awards and accolades) EJ the Don has released over ten EP's and five mixtapes, as well as three studio albums, one being a visual series. He has gone on to produce, write with and direct for several other artists, including Prince Cee + Ony the God, his high school friends and fellow musicians. He has earned 2 VMA's and appeared in a BET Hip Hop Awards cypher. He has headlined two North American tours seperately and three international ones alongside his groupmates. EJ has made many accomplishments in his ten year rap reign and is far from done.
personality traits, flaws, etc: Eren can be described as very emotional by some yet stoic in the same breath. He can be temperamental, not thinking hostile actions through sometimes. He acts of his own accord without considering other peoplesâ feelings. Heâs very blunt, and wonât hesitate to speak his mind. He CANNOT hide his true feelings for shit (if his mouth doesnât say it, his face surely will.) There are times when heâll go days without answering his phone or making contact with anyone because he loves being in his own little world. Friendships, partners..it honestly doesnât make a difference if youâre around or not. Especially when heâs locked in, working on important projects. He shuts down when he doesnât want to deal with something and youâll have better luck catching a pig flying than him apologizing or doing what heâs told! In the same vein, Eren can be very emotional..itâs almost like a dam breaking. When he finally cracks, itâs hard to control the flood with him. He gets really intense, whether heâs crying, laughing or angry. Heâs very passionate when he cares about something and heâll let it be known. Behind that rough exterior is a gentle, sweetheart of a man that just throws his all into whatever or whoever he loves.
relationship status: Eren is currently seeing the influencer and rising star of pole dancing, (Y/N) (L/N). The pair has been in a low key relationship for some months now, taking it slow and really getting to know one another. Although they started with a hot and steamy romance, sprouting from years of loneliness and celibacy from them both, theyâve really grown to care deeply for one another. He puts a lot of effort into making sure he contacts her regularly bc it is not easy to keep his attention and always gifts her the most expensive and thoughtful things. He never seen himself as the lovey dovey type, but anyone that knows EJ..will tell you that heâs fallen head over heels for miss (L/N)!
physical descriptors: EJ is 6â3, just barely 195 pounds with a slender but toned frame. Heâs been working out quite a bit since his last project and tour so heâs a little more jacked than before. He has several tattoos including full sleeves with various pieces heâs been getting since he was 16 years old. A few of his most notorious being the serpent and chain going around his hand all the way to his shoulder, the pink rose with the name âMaâKiyaâ tattooed in one of the petals on his back (đ) and his momâs name. He has dark green eyes, brownish black hair that he wears in a half up-half down style most of the time. Occasionally though, heâll wear it down and grow out facial hair. Heâs always wearing some sort of jewelry..his infamous âThe Donâ chain, as well as his bottom silver grills. His fashion sense varies on his mood.
hobbies + interests: when heâs not in the booth, Eren is somewhere tinkering with cars! He particularly loves older model vehicles and will spend days working to fix them. He loves going to the racetrack, sitting in the skybox like a little kid and watching drag cars and motorcycles go down the strip. He also loves to paint and draw, even designing a majority of his tattoos. (fun fact: he gifted (Y/N) a portrait of one of his favorite photos of her on her birthday.) and of course, heâs a huge gamer. His fans look forward to seeing him on Twitch, being stressed out by whatever franchise heâs delving to at the moment. Especially when heâs with his friends or (Y/N).

Okay so this MIGHT sound odd but, do you think you can do headcanons for a neurodivergent reader giving the turtles (either Rise or 2012, whichever versions easier to write) gifts as their love language?
And what I mean by that is giving them little things that they think theyâll like, for example giving Donnie an old toaster that stopped working for spare parts, or sharing a cool recipe with Mikey, etc etc? And the turtles would be confused until they learn about it being a love language/neurodivergent thing :)
(And btw, I love reading your headcanons!!!)
2012 Turtles x neurodivergent reader who's love language is gift giving
Writing for the 2012 turtles, they need some love ^^
Ack, I missed the last part and had to go back and almost didn't add the confusion part in r.i.p
Also wasn't sure if you wanted this to be romantic or platonic, so it's left up to interpretation ^^
Fearless Leader
He appreciates your gifts so much
You took saw these little trinkets and thought of him????
He's tearing up
He always thanks you and gives you a hug when you gift him anything
Even if on the off chance he doesn't like it as much,
He'll still put it up on his shelf with the other trinkets.
At first,
He was thankful of course, but why were you giving him all these gifts?????
Didn't want to seem rude by not accepting them,
But the more you kept doing it, the more confused he got
Eventually, he just politely asks why you're doing this.
Was he suppose to be doing something specific in return???
But when you tell him it's just your love language
He kinda has a
"Oh!!!" moment of realization
Absolutely treasures anything relating to tea, meditation, or Space Heroes
Oh??? You saw this brand of tea and thought he might enjoy it???
He is savoring every sip (even if he doesn't like the flavor, he can and will drink it all)
Or you had some left over candles and wanted to give them to him for meditation???
He lights them every time, they're his favorite scents now
All the gifts you give him are well kept!
Especially the Space Heroes comic you had found while thrifting
"Hey Leo, I found this comic on sale and thought you might like it!"
He takes the Space Hero comic from you with such gentleness, you'd think you'd just given him an egg
Even long after he finished the show and moved on,
He still held such a fondness for it
It is always near and dear to his heart
So when you gifted him a comic of his favorite show??
He nearly cried
His eyes shine with unshed tears and he brings you into a firm, but gentle hug
"Thank you so, so much."
Donnie-pedia
Gift giving is also Donnie's love language!
Usually, he's the one making and giving gifts to his friends and family
So when you start giving him gifts that you thought he might like??
He gives you one of the biggest, brightest, gap-toothed smile you've ever seen
"You got this? For me?? Really?!"
He's so excited
Already ranting about how neat the gift you've given him is
It could be a toaster or some spare krang parts you'd found (there's always some to be found in the back alleys and sewers of New York) or even a random book
He always finds a way to use or appreciate them
He's not as confused as his brothers about you giving him gifts,
After all, he does a similar thing!
But he does start overthinking
What if you're expecting a gift in return?????
What if it's an important day???
He starts worrying over this,
Which leads to him busting out his old white board and writing down everything these gifts could possibly mean
You end up explaining that this was just your love language, once you walk in on him connecting red lines on his theory board
(seriously, why would you giving gifts to him have anything to do with foretelling a dimension X invasion?)
Usually, when you give him anything that can be used in his inventions-
He'll set straight to working on it, after giving you a quick squeeze, of course
"Oh this is perfect, I was looking for something to use in this!"
He presents to you his finished machine,
The gift you gave him having been the missing piece he needed
After showing it to you, he gives you a quick hug
"Thank you so much! That gift was just what I needed."
Also makes gifts for you!
For example, if you gave him some colorful bolts you managed to find
He'll turn them into little matching bracelets for the two of you!
Dr. Prankenstein
Mikey gets so excited every time you gift him something
Has and will pick you up and spin you around each and every time you gift him something
He honestly doesn't find it confusing at first!
Genuinely is just happy to receive these gifts
Doesn't really think twice about it-
Until someone points out that you don't exactly go around giving gifts to just anyone
Then he gets curious, and a little confused
He will just ask you about it flat out
Oh??? It's your love language???
Cool!!!
He loves receiving random recipes from you
"Hey Mikey! I found another one I thought you might like."
"Ooo- let me see!!"
Loves to try making those dishes with you
Sometimes they end up with the kitchen covered in accidentally exploded mash potatoes
Sometimes they end up with the most delicious cake you've ever tasted!
Either way, Mikey loves it
He also loves receiving any other gifts from you
It could be a really cool rock you found
or some cute stuffie you found
He loves them all
Has a whole section of his room dedicated to storing and displaying your gifts
He even carries around a rock or two that you gave him
"For good luck, duh!"
Will also go to the surface to try to find you some little gifts in return
Usually he makes you flower crowns and chains!
Sometimes, he gets help from April or Big Sis Karai though
They'll get him some snacks that he knows you like
When you come down to the lair, he'll jump out and surprise you with some snacks and a movie night!
Also has one of the latest dishes he made with the recipes you gave him ^^
Mean Green Fighting Machine
Raph may act tough around his family
But he's an absolute softie
He's choking up whenever you give him these lil' gifts
Tries his best to take care of these gifts
Though, they may get a bit roughed up during a particularly angry episode or fight
When this does happen though, he does his best to fix them up
Hates it when the gifts you have him get broken or lost
So he keeps them in a storage box for safe keeping!
Though at first,
He was a little suspicious and confused when you started giving him gifts
Like, why???
Did you want something from him??
Were you planning something???
What did you want?
"No, seriously, what's with all the gifts? Ya up to somethin'?"
Pls just explain to him that it's your love language before you get interrogated
Once he knows tho??
He's so touched
You got this for him just because you care??
No strings attached?
Congrats, you've got a turtle who can and will beat up anything that brings you harm
It's how he shows he cares ^^
Surprisingly enough,
He loves receiving any artsy things from you
Especially paint or paint brushes
He goes out of his way to make sure those stay safe
He also loves receiving anything artsy!
If you ever make him a drawing or oragami
He's going to cherish it forever
He may even invite you to join him in an art session later-
"Don't ya dare tell anyone though."
Hope you enjoyed!

Thinking about work rivals to lovers with Carmy...
You don't know how the hell you got here. A few months ago, you were fresh out of culinary school, and now you're working at a fancy New York restaurant with not one- not two- but three Michelin stars?
Sure, you didn't have the most important job- you were just staging. That's basically a glorified intern, but still with the shit pay. A normal day on the job consisted of shadowing a team of people so in synch it was like they were one big machine. You being there was a cog in the gears.
None of the chefs wanted you there, and you could tell. Some hid it better than others, but you could see it in their eyes. They saw you as less than. A worm they could crush with the heel of their shoe without giving it a second thought.
They weren't outright mean to you, of course, but there was always something- a little slip up, a break in the mask of professionalism that would show how they really felt about you. A single eye roll, a sneer, maybe a scoff or sarcastic remark behind your back that they thought you couldn't hear- but you were always listening. Always.
It honestly pissed you off. Why spend so much time beating around the bush, acting like everything was fine? If they really had such an issue with you being there, they might as well just say it to your face. Still, none had the guts to actually do it.
None, except Carmen fucking Berzatto.
No one in that damn kitchen hated you more than that curly-haired bastard. To be fair, he was like that with everyone. His first thought when a new person entered the kitchen, whether staging or not?
I'm gonna smoke this motherfucker.
He was the same way with you, just ramped up to 100. You rubbed him the wrong way. He didn't know what bothered him so much, you were like every other stage he'd ever worked with. But maybe that's what bothered him. There was just, nothing special about you.
You were extraordinarily ordinary. And that was the most confusing piece of the puzzle for him.
How did you; an up-and-coming chef in the New York area just trying to get by, staging at any restaurant that'll take you somehow ending up here?
God, in the beginning he couldn't stand you. Even just being stationed near each other was enough to drive him insane. Any chance he got to leave, he would. His smoke breaks ramped up, and so did his amount of volunteering to leave on errands.
You were pretty much the same. Snide remarks, comments, eye rolls and scoffs were most of your vocabulary around him. Everyone in the kitchen knew of your disdain for each other, and it became a bit of a game for them. Let's see who pops first: Carmy or the new kid? How close can we get them before a fight starts? How long until they either kill each other or hook up?
Still, as time went on, the other chefs learned to accept you, Carmy learned to ignore you, and you learned to deal with his bullshit.
Carmy also learned that he might have a staring problem.
It was little, at first. quick glances at you at your station. Just to make sure you aren't royally fucking up per usual, right?
But it became something... More.
Glances turned to looks, and looks turned to stares.
The more he stared, the more he noticed about you.
The more he stared, the more he noticed about himself.
Like, for example, your laugh. It was loud. Loud enough to break his focus every time he heard it, which was often because you just have to find everything so damn funny. Still, there was this warmth to it. It became familiar, comforting even. He found himself quietly chuckling, wondering what joke had made you laugh like that so he could replicate it and tell it to you later.
And as the weeks went on, it was harder to not stare at you every time you entered the kitchen. Maybe it was those ridiculous outfits, that made you look straight outta Brooklyn, though they did have a certain charm to them. Maybe it was your perfume, unbearable at first but after a while addicting. Or maybe it was just you. Maybe it was just the fact that Carmy wasn't just staring at your outfits, or listening to your laugh, or smelling your perfume, he was staring at, listening to, and smelling you.
He hated to admit it, but that little voice in the back of his head was right. The one that told him maybe he didn't hate you. The one that told him maybe you weren't the worst chef he'd ever met. The one that told him maybe he was issue, you were fine- amazing, even, he was just too dense to realize.
He didn't listen to that voice often, but as time passed the voice got louder and it was harder to push down his feelings like that. He knew, sooner or later, that he would explode and tell you how he felt. How he really felt.
Maybe that would be tonight.
Carmy could feel his jaw tense just looking at you, gripping the countertop so hard his tattooed knuckles looked pale in the fluorescent kitchen lights.
Somewhere else in the kitchen someone yelled out an order, but he wasn't paying attention. He was busy watching you. You were preparing lamb with a mint jelly, but the jelly was runny and the lamb undercooked. God, it almost made him feel sorry for you.
He watched as you wiped sweat from your furrowed brow, a concentrated look on your face with your tongue slightly sticking out of your mouth. It was kind of endearing to see you trying so hard. God, was he smiling? At the thought of you? He'd tried to push these feelings down, he really had. He just wasn't strong enough.
Carmy quickly went back to being straight faced, trying to focus more on his job of prepping vegetables for a side dish. Still, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't stop stealing glances to your station. It was a mess, in all honesty. How you hadn't been screamed at yet, he had no idea.
A thought appeared in his head. He tried to ignore it; shake it off and focus on the food that needed preparing. But it was consuming his mind. Finally, he couldn't take it. He set down his knife, glancing at your station.
"Chef!" he called out. You were the only person nearby, so of course you turn and look at him. You felt yourself grimace. God, what does he want now? To yell at you, insult your undercooked lamb and mint jelly that was turning more into a mint sauce every minute?
You didn't know why you were so off your game today; maybe it had something to do with all the staring from Mr. 'I'm too good for the rest of you' just one station away. Those piercing blue eyes had been boring a hole through you for far too long now.
Even still, you made sure to smile and nod. "Yes?" you replied, with a sickeningly sweet tone.
"Yes, chef." Carmy corrected, and you scoffed. "Come over here."
You obliged, although hesitantly. Why did he need you at the garde manger? Not to mention, you were sure he would never work with you willingly. If he had it his way, you'd be out on the streets begging for spare change.
"You're cooking the lamb all wrong," Carmy began. You rolled your eyes. Of course he's calling you over to critique you. That's the only thing he finds pleasure in doing. He can see your disinterest, and quickly snaps his fingers in front of your face. "Hey, listen to me."
"Okay," you grumble.
"The only thing you should be saying is yes chef. Not okay, not yes, not some bullshit complaint about me not fuckin'- bein' all nice and shit, just yes chef. Capiche?"
You raise your eyebrows. "Yes chef." You were used to Carmen getting pissy, throwing his temper tantrums, but not like this. This was different. This, was hot.
"Good." Carmy's reply is short and sweet. A moment of silence fills the air, the tension evident.
"So, for uh- for the lamb." he sniffs, grabbing a cut of the animal and his good knife. "You're not- you're starting the lamb on medium heat and just keeping it like that, the whole way through, right?"
You nod, watching him cut a piece to the right size. You never noticed how strong his arms were until now. You'd seen them, sure, but never in this light. Muscles, some veins popping out, you can't look away.
"Well- you're supposed to start it on, uhm, medium high. Yeah. Not medium, that won't cook it well enough without burning it and making it look like shit. So, you start on medium high, then around halfway through, you turn it down to medium and just keep it there until it's done. Yes?"
"Yes chef." you nod. You had to admit, he knew his shit. Carmy was a good chef, no doubt about it. And watching him work? It was like magic.
"Great. Here, lemme- lemme show you how to do it, first, so you don't fuck it up like you did last time. That was- that was bad. Fuck." he cringes at the stutter in his voice, reminding him of the childhood he spent too afraid to speak thanks to that debilitating stutter. It was gone now, mostly. Except for when the nerves got the best of him.
He walked to the stovetop, turning the heat to medium high and pouring olive oil on the skillet. The lamb made a hissing sound as he tossed it into the pan, the crackling and popping of the oil growing louder.
"See, and now this- this is when we turn down the heat, and you just change the side every few minutes until it's brown, and uh- yeah. There ya go. Perfect lamb. Yeah." he explains, wiping his hands on a nearby towel. He starts to walk back to his station, but you stop him.
"What about the mint jelly?"
He stops and turns around. He never thought he'd see the day where you- the annoying stage who hated him almost as much as he hated you, would ask for his help. He can't help but smile. He doesn't know why. Maybe it's the satisfaction from the unspoken confession that yes- he is a better chef than you- or maybe it's because you actually want to spend time with him. You're asking to learn from him, and you don't even sound mad about it!
Maybe he's smiling because this stupid little workplace crush may not be as one-sided as he thought.
A/N: Holy shit I kinda love this. Might make a series of work rivals to lovers with Carm cus he's my husband fr fr <3 we share a name for a reason!!!đŻđŻđŻ

over the weekend at the knoxville regional pokemon championships, i met up with a longtime internet friend in person for the first time, and he traded me a very special pokemon - a unique celebi that takes a bit of context to explain the significance of

from november 2001 to january 2005, the building that is now a nintendo world store in new york city was actually an american pokemon center, which hosted the "Gotta Catch âEm All!" station, a large machine that you could pop your gold/silver/crystal cartridge into (or later ruby/sapphire/firered/leafgreen, but that's not relevant here) and get a special distribution pokemon unique to the store. often times these were normal pokemon in eggs with special moves they couldn't usually learn, but other times they ran distributions for shiny legendaries, and of course, the mythical celebi.
there's very few pictures of the machine and all of them are pretty low quality, but you can see an iteration of it here during the gen 3 era:

when PCNY (pokemon center new york) shut down, the machine and its contents were presumed lost forever, but due to the preservation efforts and the good luck of a few individuals, some of the distributions have been preserved, as well as parts of the machine and its software. this is extra incredible because almost all gen 2 save files from the time the machine was actually functional are long since wiped due to the battery inside dying, meaning that very very few of the gen 2 event pokemon distributed from this machine at the time still exist. i won't go super in detail on that in this post but you can read an article about all of that here (julie, the person who runs this historical PCNY fansite is incredibly passionate and if you want to know anything about the PCNY store i absolutely recommend reading her writing!)
so, one day when i was rambling to my friend (his name is Venty!) about my fascination with the PCNY machine, and how i wish i had been born early enough to experience that, as well as wishing that i could have traded with anyone in gens 1-3 as a child but never got to due to isolation, venty told me that he's actually friends with a guy (Professor Rex) who knows the guy who owns the remnants of the PCNY machine (Gridelin), and he would love to reach out and ask if there's any way rex could distribute a celebi to himself and trade it to him sometime so that eventually when me and venty met in person one day, he'd be able to trade the celebi to me.
i pretty much burst into tears and very passionately explained how much that would mean to me - not just because owning a celebi actually distributed from the historical PCNY distribution station is just... insanely cool, but because like i said, i had never traded anyone in the old internet-less generations of pokemon, and having that be my first was just... a monumental thought. i am deeply fascinated with old gen event distributions because of the tactile, interpersonal nature of them, in direct contrast with my isolation and loneliness as a child. it might sound silly to be so worked up over a collection of bytes/pixels, but i really couldn't believe venty would offer me something so kind. and not only did he offer to ask - rex said yes!!
so on may 21st last year (2023) rex traveled out and distributed the celebi to his pokemon silver cartridge. specifically, the celebi is from the "Celebi Present Campaign" which ran from the 22nd of november 2002 to the 28th of november 2002. the display on the monitor is the same video that would have appeared on the screen in the PCNY store, but flipped sideways here haha. (the gen 2 distributions were special and had custom animations for the legendaries and stuff, which you can watch here in full quality on gridelin's channel - there's videos of the other distribution animations on his channel, too!)
and then months later, during the weekend of august 11th 2023, rex and venty met up at the pokemon world championship in japan and rex traded the celebi to venty's gold cartridge...
...then, finally, just this past weekend, on sunday (february 4th 2024) venty and i finally met in real life for the first time at the knoxville TN regional pokemon championships, and with link cable in hand the celebi finally made its way to me in my hotel room, after crossing the ocean twice and passing through canada to the US to japan and back to the US...!!
gen 2 pokemon data isn't very complicated, but you can tell that my celebi is unique from the other PCNY celebis dumped online (here and here if you'd like to play with some of these historical pokemon yourself) because it has the trainer ID of 00204 which none of the publicly available celebis have - though of course to me, regardless of what becomes publicly available in the future (and i hope one day the common layperson can simply emulate the PCNY machine, video game preservation >>> unique collections always) this celebi will always be special and unique because of how it got to me, and because it represents my friendship with venty who i care so much about. it was an extremely kind gesture i will never forget and i can't believe how much traveling and how many people were involved with getting this tiny bundle of bytes and pixels to me. i hugged venty after the trade was done haha
oh, and by the way, don't worry, i have the hardware to back up my gen 2 save files so this celebi will never die even after my crystal cartridge battery eventually dies once more!! (also, while i don't think it would be an issue i do want to say please don't bother any of the people mentioned in this post...! gridelin & co are working on making the distribution machine in question available for anyone to use, it'll come out whenever it's out and for now there are dumps of the events that were recovered. i would not want them to receive any annoying requests for pokemon because of me. thank you!)

Day fourteen - Connor group part 1/2
@corrienteallita, @eljeebee, @ethicaltreatmentofcowplants, @hashimasims, @jonquilyst, @riverofjazzsims
A new day in the villa! Coins are flipped for if contestants will brush their teeth and a wheel is spun for type of shower.
For breakfast contestants were instructed to grab a plate of food then left to make their own choices while Autonomy was set to full. Room doors were locked in the morning to deter computer use. Deanna complimented the outfit of each contestant in order of when they arrived to eat.
Everyone seems to feel their traits in full force this morning. Nyami's erratic brain is telling her to stay alert! Danger could be anywhere! Kaye is not content with the fruit salad Deanna made for everyone, choosing to start up the popcorn machine before she's even washed her bowl. Gluttons will be gluttonous.
Most of the group decides that rather than sit at the table, they'd prefer to stand and chat. This suits Berenice fine as it means she has enough space to BlicBloc dance AND tell the worst puns imaginable! Nyami of course finds it hilarious and even refined Belle can appreciate a good joke.
Devin: Welcome to your second challenge. This one was chosen Joey, little brother to me, older brother to Deanna. Joey wants to get in to designing and releasing his own games, his debut game has been very successful, so you could say he's a tech head. You will be split in to two groups and play party frenzy. Joey, Deanna and I will watch. The person who wins the most games in each team will get a solo date this afternoon. If there is a tie Joey will assess who in the team has the best video gaming skills
Teams were randomised and are Team 1: Berenice, Isla, Nyami Team 2: Dee, Isabella, Kaye
Berenice (voiceover): Okay, like are we being judged individually or as a group? Because if it's as a group, I will have even less friends than I started this challenge with, so now I'll be in negatives...
Isla (voiceover): A party frenzy? Interesting⌠I really hope I can win the games!
Nyami (voiceover): *sighs* I'm not sure how I'll do at this. But have to learn how these gaming consoles work sometime
Dee (voiceover): I have some experience, but it might not be enough⌠honestly, I will be miffed if I don't get at least top 10.
Isabella (voiceover): Oooh, party! Yes it's virtual but still
Kaye (voiceover): *giant smile* Oh I've got this
Growing up the York siblings often played video games, challenging each other to contests for fun. Joey felt like whoever wanted to woo his sister needed to have some understanding of how virtual games work so this was his first challenge choice.
Team 1 had a bumpy challenge but in the end Isla won most of the games. Team 2... well in team 2 Dee ended up rage quitting and throwing off everybody's scores. Luckily we had Joey to review the footage and conclude that Kaye showed the most skill.
Berenice: Oh⌠thatâs unfortunate. Not that Joey was⌠unfortunate, the whole⌠being in a room with him thing either. But I was hoping that you or Dee would win? That was the unfortunate thing
Nyami: He seems like a great guy
Berenice: I⌠donât know him all that well? Maybe everyone - yes, everyone - will get to know him better? But I believe that you can judge brothers by their sisters and he and Deanna seem to have a really good relationship. Yeah, guys with sisters are green flags? [sotto voce] I could have probably done with a sibling or threeâŚ
Isabella: *applause* Well done Kaye
Dee: I'm going to take a walk *stomps off*
Isabella: And ohâokay, okay, alrightâŚlet's, haha, let's relax!

Watching From the Tower Part 3
Bucky x F! Reader

Your code name is Scout and your job was easy. You worked the cyber side of things for the New Avengers. You directed them where to go with your hacking skills, and you are the eyes in the sky. There was just one problem... you don't like leaving the tower. You are not a complete agoraphobe, but you are pretty close. Leaving makes you feel so unsafe and people touching you, that's even worse. So, when James Buchanan Barnes the former 'Winter Soldier' tries to get you out for one mission, things got a little hectic after that.
Part 3 Summary: We learn how you met Bucky for the first time and then what is going on with the radiation in Singapore... and then an intimate moment happens.
One Year AgoâŚ
Your coffee machine was broken again. It was on its last leg to begin with because you had it since you were in college and itâs been close to twelve years. You took very good care of your coffee maker because without caffeine, you couldnât get the work done that you needed to. It just didnât happen without your four cups of coffee in the first part of the day. But lately, itâs been having some issues. That didnât matter as long as you were able to pour that delicious, warm smelling brew in your âIâm a Hackâ mug and then add more creamer than coffee. You were golden.Â
As it was, you were on the trail of something big. Of course, it was brought to your attention by an anonymous whistleblower named âIsurvivedthewarforthis1917â which had you in stitches because you immediately traced the email to a specific IP address in Brooklyn, New York. Well, he may be old, but he at least knows how to work an email. Hell, you had a feeling he knew you could track him down. Since he was on the campaign trail that he obviously had no reason to hit, you were definitely on to him just as much.Â
He was on the news on the daily at this point with someone always bringing up his past as the Winter Soldier and how he killed JFK. You were pretty sure that pardon he was given didnât even hold up to the people that were against him.Â
You smile as you see him on the news looking very awkward in front of the camera and partially choking up a little when asked questions he was uncomfortable with. You could see in his eyes. Of course the interview had been completed on Thursday and today was Saturday. It was really silly how the emails he sent you started off with him sending documents that he uncovered because one of his interviewers asked him something. What that was, you didnât really know, but it was pretty much a given.Â
Actually, youâre still not sure how he even found you. You just know one day there was an email from âIsurvivedthewarforthis1917â with a name and a few documents that were definitely classified. How did he get them? You werenât sure, but maybe the Winter Soldier was smarter than people gave him credit for.Â
Maybe.
You sit at your desk when you get the alert on your screen. Itâs on the messenger app that you made him download because emails are easily traceable and you can do something about the app because you made it.Â
Isurvivedthewarforthis1917: I need your help with something.Â
Yournamesobvious: Okay, what do you need? BTW. You looked awful in that interview.            Ever thought about getting a stylist?
Isurvivedthewarforthis1917: Was it the hair? Or the suit?
Yournameisobvious: Sorry, but it was totally both. Anyway, whatâs up?
Isurvivedthewarforthis1917: I knew it.Â
Isurvivedthewarforthis1917: Valentina, sheâs going to be hosting a gala later this month. I would like it if you could work the crowd.Â
You panic. Youâve barely left your apartment in close to three years and this man who is pretty much a complete stranger youâve been doing some âresearchâ for is asking you to go into public?Â
Yournameisobvious: Uh⌠sorry. I canât go. I have a thing I have to do that night.Â
Isurvivedthewarforthis1917: I didnât even tell you the date.Â
Isurvivedthewarforthis1917: Is it because you are afraid of going out?Â
Your hands freeze over the keyboard. Youâve never told him about your phobias.Â
Isurvivedthewarforthis1917: I get it. Trust me.
Yournameisobvious: I donât think you do.
Isurvivedthewarforthis1917: Try me.Â
There is a knock on your door and you look at the messages on your screen before you make them disappear. You donât know who could be at your door right now, but you do everything you can to clear your space, hiding the evidence of the PI files you were working on and everything else.Â
âJust a moment!â You yell out before putting everything back in the filing cabinet by your desk and moving to the door. âI swear to God Philis if that is you, I didnât take your mop.â You unfasten the chain lock and turn the four deadbolts on your door before opening it.Â
Your eyes go wide when you see Future Congressman James Buchanan Barnes leaning up against the wall on the outside of your door dressed in black with his hood up over his head. You shake your head because you have no idea how he found you. Then again, he was a former brainwashed assassin. He holds his phone up as you look at him in disbelief.Â
âWasnât hard to find you.â He shows you the last thing he sent before putting his phone in his pocket. You question him with your eyes because youâre too stunned heâs there to speak. âBackdoor tracer. Very handy when youâre looking for someone. Been using it since the mid 2000âs.âÂ
You shake your head and come to your senses. âBackdoor tracer? Really?â You scoff. âOld school, but efficient.â Opening the door wider, you decide to let him in and he removes the hood from his head. Heâs tall, broad shouldered, definitely not what you expected in person, but you canât be picky. âHow did you figure out which apartment was mine?âÂ
âIt wasnât hard. Your name was on the buzzer, but I managed to use another old trick to get in by buzzing someone else and acting like I was bringing food.â He puts his hands in the pockets of his jacket. âAnd I got your name from the same person who told me about you. It was on her phone while she wasnât looking.âÂ
âIllya.â You sigh hard when you realize who you were dealing with here. âAlright, so you are resourceful.â You run a hand through your hair and then slap your hands against your thighs.Â
âShe left her phone where I could get a hold of it.â He smirks in a way that makes you think heâs joking, but he really isnât.Â
âOkay, so what are you doing here?â Crossing your arms, you shift from one foot to the other. âI guess Iâm not what you expected, huh?âÂ
He shrugs. âI may have done a background check on you.â He says it like itâs not a big deal. âBesides the point, Iâm here to see if youâll help me with this one thing and if itâs a no, then Iâll leave.â He looks over at the door.Â
âI donât like leaving my apartment.â You donât need to explain any further when you see his face change. âYou know what happened donât you?âÂ
âI saw the police reports.â He doesnât mention if he had seen her medical reports. âWhat happened to you, itâs unforgivable.â He takes a step closer, but you take a step back and he sees that. âIâm sorry.âÂ
âItâs okay.âÂ
âDo you ever leave?â The question is not what you expected.Â
âFor the necessary thingsâ like the doctor and sometimes when I really need something.â The last time you left your apartment was for that one doctor appointment that you dread every year. The one no woman likes to go to. âI have to force myself out.â You sit on your couch, grabbing a throw pillow and hugging it to yourself to guard against whatever he might do. Bucky Barnes is still a stranger in your home, even if youâve been talking to him through the internet.Â
He sits down on the opposite side and you notice his vibranium hand then. He doesnât hide it. Youâd think that he would, but he doesnât. Itâs there for everyone to see. Somehow that interests you a little more than it should because itâs Wakandan technology that anyone would want to get their hands on.Â
âI need your help.â You arenât sure if heâs pleading with you are if heâs demanding, but itâs clear that heâs desperate. âThe files I asked you to dig up, what did you find out?âÂ
âEverything is locked up tight.â You have been working for three weeks to get into tight encryptions to unbury those files. âWhen I do get into something, itâs like there is nothing to see, but itâs clearly been tampered with. There are outlines where code has been changed by an algorithm and then a scrambler.â You pick at the sleeve of your hoodie. âShe has someone doing this and they are just as good as I am.âÂ
Bucky shrugs. âWeâll figure it out.â Then he switches back to the reason why he is here. You were waiting on his strategy. âI have to work the people at the Gala to see what I can find out and gather evidence.âÂ
You arenât good with crowds. The thought of being anywhere else except right where you were made you panic because it was unsafe and someone could be right around the corner ready to⌠no. You canât think about it. Squirming in your seat, you start to shake as memories you wish stayed buried resurfaced again. Of course, he notices and puts his eyes on you. You canât stand the look of pity that anyone gives you once they realize what is happening, but instead those blue eyes are filled with something else.Â
Understanding.Â
Public knowledge of what he had gone through was the reason you were wary of him, but it was the things that you didnât know that made you feel different. Not so much scared, but cautious because there were only so many things you could find about him. The rest you had to ask him about. So, you sit there on the couch, crossing your legs and holding onto a throw pillow. Its your shield against him.Â
âI can hack the cameras and hack cellphones to listen to chatter.â You offer him this one thing. âIts pretty much all I can do from here.âÂ
âThat's all I need.â He gives you a half smile.Â
You stand up going to your filing cabinet that you hid everything in and rifle through it looking for something. There it is. A small case about the size of a business card and as thick as a USB drive sits at the bottom. You pull it out before bringing it to Bucky and handing it to him.
âThese are comms. Stark-tech that is made to be discreet. Fits right on the inside of the ear and youâll be able to hear me from the gala. It works off of satellite transmission.â You watch as he opens the case up to see tiny little dots that are of different skin tones. âYouâll have to call me when you put them in so I can hook up the satellite.â He looks up at you, impressed by what you have. âYou stole these from Stark?âÂ
âI made them.â Before the Snap, before five years of torture. âStark didnât like the idea, he wanted something more along the lines of Wakanda.â You had never been to Wakanda or seen what they had to offer so matching technology was problematic. âI think they are just as good, if not on par.âÂ
He nods as he looks at how tiny they are. âNo one else will hear you?âÂ
âNope. Itâs directional and I calibrate them to your specific hearing range.âÂ
âPerfect.â He shuts the case and stands up. âIâll call you when I get to the gala.â Bucky pockets the case. âIâll keep checking in with you until then.âÂ
You watch as he leaves, feeling like he is going to be a permanent fixture in your life.Â
NowÂ
âAre you sure that it's Plutonium?â The same man who came to your apartment over a year ago walks beside you as you both walk through the halls.Â
He's got the tablet in his hands with all the information you could dig up from spectrometers within the area of the mission. You are positive that its Plutonium, but more so positive there was a good amount that had been pooled together for whatever reason. Its radioactive isotopes were picked up at least five kilometers out from the source, which is not good. Still, besides the bouts of nausea and fatigue that the team encountered, the radiation was mild.Â
âBucky, I'm pretty sure that some experiment went wrong there and now we either have some super villain or a monster growing in there.â You had used another satellite to keep an eye on it and noticed that the heat was clustering together into a smaller area. âMy bet is on a super villain.âÂ
Bucky stops, grabbing at the fabric of your cardigan to pull you back. âWait a moment⌠you're saying someone pulled a Valentina.âÂ
âOr⌠a Banner.â You cock your head with a smile. âBucky, there are dozens of people out there that are capable of doing some really bad stuff with their knowledge⌠you know this.âÂ
âYeah, I do.â He starts walking again and you go with him. âBut we cant fight someone who is literally nothing but radiation.âÂ
âNo one can.â You shrug. âBut the worst part is, whatever it is will be around for a very long time.â Thinking back to your days in college level organic chemistry, you think of the scenarios that could've led to this. âIn 1945 there was an incident involving a core of Plutonium. Two scientists didn't handle it properly and were exposed to the radiation. Both died within days.â The Demon Core was a well known radiation incident that happened just after Project Manhattan concluded. Radiation wasn't understood well enough then, but now, someone had to be an idiot to do something with it.Â
âSo what do we do?âÂ
âThis is a very different beast, so I have no idea.â The thought of your team, your family, going up against something so deadly terrifies you. âBuckyâŚâÂ
âI know.â He stops right in front of the elevator. âWe can't fight this. At least, I don't think we can.â The doors open and you both step inside. âWe'll keep an eye on this though.â He hands you the tablet and you take it, sliding it under your arm.Â
âRight.â There is definitely a lot to be concerned with. âShouldn't we alert the government about this?âÂ
Bucky looks at you. âYeah, that's what I'm going to do now.â He gives you that half smile that you both love and hate so much. âThen, after that, its lunch time because I am starving.âÂ
âAre you eating chili dogs again?âÂ
âNo.â He scoffs. âI'm ordering Greek today.â You hum, standing in silence for a moment before his vibranium pinky reaches over to wrap around yours. âYou want some?â He looks at you from the side.Â
Feeling his pinky wrap around yours is a little jarring at first, but it's clearly something he's testing with you. Testing your boundaries has been his motive lately, but he's been respectful about it. Ever since he carried you to your apartment a week and a half ago, he's been doing these little gestures to get closer to you. Its not out of character for him, but its something you find both annoying and endearing. But this? This is surprisingly okay. You can handle this.Â
âYeah, I'll take some.â You squeeze his pinky with yours. âYou think you're so sneaky.âÂ
âI have no idea what you are talking about.â The doors open and he walks out to the hub where the team can usually be found, however it was just Bob. âItâs unusually quiet here today.â He notices just like you do.Â
No Walker bickering with Ava over something stupid. No Yelena arguing with Alexei. It was just quiet, except for the sound of Bob playing the Nintendo Switch. You actually miss the noise, but at the same time, you arenât sitting at your desk rubbing your temples in frustration when Walker tries to explain something that is so simple. You look at Bucky, still holding on to his pinky before heâs pulling you towards his office without anyone there to see, because there canât be any rumors or ideas.Â
His office is spotless. No clutter because he hates not being able to find anything while your apartment looks lived in. Youâve never been to his place, but you can imagine that his home is just as spotless as the office he occupies. There arenât a lot of things that make it look like its his space, but you do see the books on the shelf behind the desk. The ones that you ordered for him sit on the shelf and then you see one on the desk with the bookmark you gave him in it. It makes you smile that he kept it. You know he keeps you on his mind because you are the first person he texts in the morning.Â
When he shuts the door behind you, his hand leaves yours. You arenât sure how to feel about that because youâve become accustomed to his pinking hooked around yours after a short time. You watch him as he stands in front of you, his eyes looking into yours, asking permission to do something. You arenât sure what he wants, but you take the initiative and reach your hand out to touch him.Â
Your fingers ghost the material of his jacket sleeve before you grip it. Maybe giving him something would ease the tension that has been slowly building between the two of you for over a year now.Â
Bucky inhales before heâs lifting his right hand to your cheek, brushing it with his thumb and then leaning forward as his vibranium hand moves to your side. He places a tender kiss on your lips, giving you the chance to back away if you need. Itâs fine. You arenât feeling violated or forced. You donât feel the panic that you think you would feel as close as you are to a man. To anyone really. You know Bucky. You trust him because he protects you from everyone. He gets in between you and Val when she comes up to be petty or pick on you. He is always hovering over you because he knows youâre vulnerable, and sometimes its annoying as Hell. Still, you let him because you do care about him.Â
When he pulls back, he looks into your eyes to see if he did something you didnât like, but you lick your lips. You tasted whiskey on them. Probably from the sip he had earlier before he came to you for the results of the scans.Â
You donât say anything when you crash your lips against his. But just as you do, alerts start going off and you want to shoot whoever is calling in for a mission now.Â
âGoddamnit.â He spits out as you break apart.Â
The timing couldnât be any worse.Â

Quote
Last month, an A.I. bot that handles tech support for Cursor, an up-and-coming tool for computer programmers, alerted several customers about a change in company policy. It said they were no longer allowed to use Cursor on more than just one computer. In angry posts to internet message boards, the customers complained. Some canceled their Cursor accounts. And some got even angrier when they realized what had happened: The A.I. bot had announced a policy change that did not exist. âWe have no such policy. Youâre of course free to use Cursor on multiple machines,â the companyâs chief executive and co-founder, Michael Truell, wrote in a Reddit post. âUnfortunately, this is an incorrect response from a front-line A.I. support bot.â More than two years after the arrival of ChatGPT, tech companies, office workers and everyday consumers are using A.I. bots for an increasingly wide array of tasks. But there is still no way of ensuring that these systems produce accurate information. The newest and most powerful technologies â so-called reasoning systems from companies like OpenAI, Google and the Chinese start-up DeepSeek â are generating more errors, not fewer. As their math skills have notably improved, their handle on facts has gotten shakier. It is not entirely clear why. Todayâs A.I. bots are based on complex mathematical systems that learn their skills by analyzing enormous amounts of digital data. They do not â and cannot â decide what is true and what is false. Sometimes, they just make stuff up, a phenomenon some A.I. researchers call hallucinations. On one test, the hallucination rates of newer A.I. systems were as high as 79 percent.

What is this blog about?
By the title, this blog is about my new BATiM AU "Human in town!"
It surrounds Zoe's experience as a toon, living in a world that is both scary and one he finds content in. He meets fellas he likes, fellas he doesn't or hate. This story is full of parallels and symbolic themes with meaning. Through this circumstance, Zoe will have to learn to get accustomed to this world and meet people he never expected to meet.
Now, about the environment:
⢠This story takes place in Toon Town, or as most refer to it "Toonsie town". A small fact, toons can immediately tell what type of personality a toon has just by which name they use for the town.
⢠Toon Town is the equivalent of New York, which is infested with all sorts of different toons, considering it is a big town. The smaller towns are Inkfell (Full of mafiosos with ink businesses), Hale Halos (Populated by angel toons)
⢠As by the first cover I did for the AU, this au takes place in 1961.
⢠Toon Town and other towns or living areas are separate from the human world. Each toon has the ability to leave the human world, but none can leave the toon world. This is important.
⢠The Toon government doesn't take kindly to non-native toons/ humans because an old stereotype. "All humans are monsters and money hungry".
⢠Toons can have kids! Weird thing to say, but it's relevant (Not telling until it has to be, but one character in this story is half human).
Not in the human way, but by an ink machine.
The characters:
⢠~Zoe/y Baabee ///////~

And you probably already guessed, Zoe is a human in disguise. Well, he's technically a toon now, but with all the differences he has compared to toons, he gets his own category (Non-native toon)
He was kidnapped by Mr. Ross' gang for reasons no one knows, not even Zoe himself. Luckily, Benedetto saved him during a turf fight and had kept him in his gang ever since. He's been taught all the street smarts and everything to keep himself safe. And as an angel, he had to be extra careful, because even if the wings on his head were small, they were worth plenty of cash. Oh and his halo.
Though, Zoe doesn't really talk about that incident often, only when he needs to for information.
He was a part of a corporation and business, which he was forced to enter and also leave. Sounds silly, but this needs a lot of lore to specify and, of course, finishing the comics.
We're talking about The Saints' corporation. If you once even belonged to it, you get marked with a cross on either your neck, chest, back, or even everywhere if it fades.
Random little fact: Zoe has the capability to change his colour palette! Some (humans) toons like him can get random little powers based on their past lives.
Though he mostly keeps it to blue or yellow, depending on his mood/season of the year
Next on the list is...
⢠Benedetto 'Bendy' Stein

For now, I'll keep this short, since I don't want to spoil much. And I'll have elaborate on why Bendy's personality traits are too short (Yeah, it's because Bendy's gotta be the center of attention).
Soo... Let's start off straight and clear, Bendy's a mafia boss. And a good one at that, despite being kind of a dumbass. However, he's kept quite a reputation for the past few years, especially in 1959 (I ain't telling you why đ¤Ťđ§).
His partners in crime are Boris (his best friend, and also a part of the mafia), Samuel 'Sammy' Lawrence (One of his soldiers), Charlie, Barley, Edgar (which joined Bendy's gang as an agreement, but aren't important in the story) Katie, and Daniel.
And for his personality, well...
He's... confident to say the least, it's what scares the rivals, and other things... đ¨
Anyway, he's, despite his attitude or "occupation", he's quite loving and caring to the people he loves or cares about. One of his redeeming qualities. And if we compare him to the other mafiosos, he'd be a saint. But it doesn't mean he doesn't get his hands dirty when he needs to. Just not innocent people of town or people who don't deserve it. Ey, at least he's being fair!
This demon's short-temper and anger can lead to the entire town collapsing. Luckily, no one made him that triggered.
But lately... someone has been keeping him calm for a little while...
(All the other refs are outdated, still WIP)
⢠Boris Stein

Another mafia boss to the list (Benedetto and Boris run the same one. They were forced to share /j)
Okay, Boris seems like a prick on the outside, but is quite caring and soft to the people he thinks deserves it (except Katie, they don't get along well...). His tough exterior and physique helps him in fights, and also to intimidate rivals.
Benedetto's short temper and anger problems always have to be relieved, and Boris is there to do it as the calm older brother.
Boris is depicted as aggressive for a reason. Not because he will lash out like Benedetto, but because his remarks can be passive aggressive or his fighting style is all over the place.
⢠Samuel 'Sammy' Lawrence

Oh this grumpy old man...
Anyways... Sammy's a human as well. And has been here FAAAR longer than Daniel is. He died in 1935, when he was 26 years old, and is now pushing his retirement age. He hides his true age so Benedetto wouldn't place him in the retirement home. He's still 54, but his "body" and mind is one of a 30+ year old. He isn't that wise to be a grandpa, but isn't ignorant enough to be your typical older brother.
He's a trustworthy man for Benedetto, with his intelligence surrounding ambushing, and unlocking different closed off places, rooms, vaults, etc.
Though, his cold personality facade helps him a lot to gain respect, but deep down he is battling with a lot...But what?
⢠Katie M'lady

Born to be a tiger, forced to be a lap cat.../j
Katie is a fierce soldier who will always protect her fellow comrades. If you're being jumped, she'll probably help you (unless if you stole her favourite booze from the bar cabinet). Benedetto always takes her everywhere during chaotic missions, because of her experience with fighting, and also her capability of working under pressure. She's quite reserved, so no one knows much of her. Only that she'll beat your ass if you look at her the wrong way.
⢠Matthew Ross
(temporary drawing)

Matthew Ross has been in this mafia game far longer than Benedetto was. Though, with Benedetto's rising power and status, it has made this fallen angel grow with uncertainty if he will keep him status as the most powerful.
Matthew is a sadistic prick who has zero feelings for anyone outside his mafia. Any innocent toon could get killed even for as little as glancing at their dirty work. Despite being once an angel, he has no intentions of ever redeeming himself. He enjoys this life off of living better than half the toon population.
He has barely a few scars, but those few are very major...Like his eye. I won't tell who gave them, but I think it's pretty obvious already XDD
(NOT OPEN FOR ASKS UNTIL I FINISH HIS REF SHEET!!)

âGetting lunchâ, as suggested, was not as fantastical a concept to this unlikely pair as it would be to many others of their kind. Being fledglings of an ancient vampire, they stalked the gloomy New York afternoon-with Daniel staying more in the shade, his inherited powers having had less time to mature than Isabelleâs-and searched.
This search came to a delightfully obvious end when they passed a thoroughly isolated alleyway, graced with the vape-flavored sight of a posse of college-age boys in polo shirts and unfortunately lettered red baseball caps.
Isabelle bit the inside of her cheek to keep from grinning and turned to Daniel, finding a wicked glint under his dark sunglasses. With a nod and a saunter, the actress and the journalist shared a feast and cleaned up the evidence, keeping leftovers to last long past the interview.
Twenty Twenty-Three (The Next Hour), New York City, United States of America
Satisfied with their meal, sickened by the memories of privilege and unearned arrogance theyâd taken in through the blood of the young men, and both now a little bit high on flavored nicotine, they wound through the streets back to Danielâs apartment. As they walked, he told her the parts of his story not granted to human eyes, as well as what had happened after; Armandâs machinations, the now-grown âfascinating boyââs own turning, and most of what heâd learned to have happened decades earlier (though not all, she could tell, and fully understood why). Isabelle had had no idea upon first reading the book that her existence would have so many similarities to that of this entirely jaded man, who had of course felt exactly the same about this conscientiously skewed âyoungâ woman; they realized now that their experiences held so much in common that the differences in those placed demeanors faded, leaving an odd sort of knowing despite their very short acquaintance.
âI guess I just thought,â Daniel was half-laughing in a last shot at nonchalant bitterness, âI thought I was the first. Thatâs all.â
âNo, I get it,â she responded. Turning to study his face, her voice took on a bit of teasing incredulity: âIs thatâŚcould it possibly beâŚa bit of vulnerability from the great Daniel Molloy?â
âDonât start,â he said, adjusting his sunglasses. âIâm the one interviewing you, not the other way around. This just changes a lot.â
She nodded solemnly, and he dug into his jacket pocket for his phone, pressing record despite every bell and whistle being back at the apartment.
âWeâre back post-midday-draining with the vampire-â
âIsabelle de la Rue.â
â-and I want to know whether things felt the same for you as they did for me. Youâre a vampire now, youâre part of the coven, he doesnât have dominion over your mind anymore but youâve essentially given into that life. How did things go after that turning point?â
â...Turning point?â
âLet it be stated on the record that I did not attempt a pun.â
âLet it be stated on the record that it was definitely received as such,â she replied. âBut, yeah, it wasâŚas you said, it was a sense of letting oneself be swept up in a new life. I had been so focused on the fact that Armand couldnât physically get into my mind anymore that I forgot about every other-more human-emotional tie.â
âThat fucked-up blur between supernatural manipulation and genuineâŚâ
He stopped, fiddling with his key and pretending that was the reason heâd trailed off.
âLove,â she finished, looking at Daniel as they reentered his apartment. âThatâs the word youâre looking for.â
âSure,â he coughed, a thousand recently-revealed memories passing across his eyes.
âAnd, yeah, precisely. I found that I justâŚwell, after being turned, I felt that I needed him more than ever. After a lifetime of being tossed to the side and swearing that Iâd wait for the right person, a lifetime of scrambling for control over my own life, this sudden onslaught of being entirely and straightforwardly wanted for the first time knocked me out; I fully let go after that first taste of his blood, and everything rational was justâŚgone. Honestly, nearly everything before I had stepped into the ThÊâtre was gone; not by the work of the Mind Gift, just by the overwhelming newness of vampiric existence-of vampiric existence as his companion. Now, whenever there was somewhere to go, there was somebody beautiful waiting for me just outside the door. Now, when I absentmindedly hummed a bit of an old duet, someone would complete the phrase. Now there was finally someone who wanted to understand all of my depths and flaws, who didnât shun them away or pretend not to see them but instead viewed them as natural and even admirable. We had both come from this sort of rigidity and exploitative background-his far, far worse than mine, of course-and we each found this wonderful sort of release in the other. Weâd stay up hours into the night and day, and talk and talk and talk-â
âAnd only talk?â came the interruption of her near-rapturous repetition.
âOh, of course not,â Isabelle said once sheâd recovered from the memory, âbut you didnât want to hear about that.â
She was quiet for a moment, one finger circling a small threadbare spot in the armchair sheâd now grown quite familiar with.
ââFor the first time in my life, I was seen.â Thatâs what Louis told you, and that is how it was for me. When I read that phrase in your bookâŚI lost my breath all over again.â
The journalist nodded as he finished connecting his phone back to the laptop and microphone.
Nothing more needed explanation.
Daniel already knew.
âSo,â he said after a while, âwhen did things change? When did you come to the thought that you needed to go?â
âPart of it was because of Ădith. Armand always seemed to come up with more rehearsals and group hunts during the times when weâd try to get together; eventually, I confronted him about it. He said that, since I had chosen this life, asked to become his despite his doubts, that I needed to give up every outward tie to humanity. I pointed out that that humanity was what drew him to me in the first place-the same way it was with you-and by the way he reacted, it seemed that he simply wanted it all to himself. I missed her. The last time I managed to see her, it was even more difficult to do so, because she was becoming truly famous.â
âWait,â Daniel said, â...that Ădith?â
Slowly, Isabelle nodded, looking to him with a slight smile.
âThat Ădith. My Ădith. You know how the nightclub owner who discovered her died, the mobsters she had some associations with, the accusations that almost destroyed her career?â
âI have to say Iâm not as brushed up on the history of French popular song as I guess I should have been, but Iâve heard of that, yes.â
âThe murder was Armandâs doing. A warning, I think, that he could make my friends suffer if they kept me from him for too long.â
âRed flag numberâŚweâve lost count now.â
âYouâre one to talk, Mr. Molloy.â
âBut Mademoiselle Piaf clearly got back on her feet.â
âAt least we got a proper goodbye.â
âWhen you left?â
âWhen IâŚtried. That was the first time. Captain of the ship got ârestâ-ed into never leaving the dock. I think, on some level, Armand knew that playing any power card wouldnât get me to want to stay, so he ran up that ramp in a billowing trench coat like some hero of an old film, wrapped me up into his arms, and said that heâd heard the waters that week were far too treacherous for a âvisit homeâ. I knew I didnât believe him, but he held me so tightly, so-so tenderly, whispering over and over that he couldnât lose meâŚâ
âSo his tears worked better than the Mind Gift ever could.â
â...Yes.â
âChrist, Isabelle, he was never afraid of losing his power over you because he knew he already had it. Armand didnât even need access to your memories-â
âI know-â
â-you were just so in love that he could easily,â Daniel bulldozed, âlike any mortal, play your heartstrings like that fucking violin you always talked about-â
âI know!â
After the days of quips and tearful recollections, this was indeed a shout. She slammed her hands onto the arms of the chair, and every light in the room flickered.
Daniel was silent.
âIâm not proud of it,â Isabelle eventually said, cold and hard and finally loud. âI am fully aware that I spent my whole life terrified of being controlled only to wind up under the spell of the first dark-curled, smooth-voiced soul to actually look my way for once. I am fully aware that I saw everything and allowed love to blind me anyway. I thought we could figure it all out and grow together-it had truly seemed, for a while, like we were. I was young, I was tired of waiting, and I felt that those twenty-two years spent waiting were longer than any possible eternity. I wanted to be desired, chased, caught, cherished, held-I wanted him. Surrounded by this mockery of the life I have always longed for, this place where self-titled artists postured in their little cliques and prided themselves on their shallow works while ignoring the hundreds of bodies being dragged across the floor, I thought that that was all I was ever going to get.â
Her ragged breath had climaxed into sobs now, without a single speck of the demure camera-worthiness of her previous tears. These last words hanging in the air, Isabelle stared daggers at Daniel, the golden circles at the center of her glowing hazel eyes now alight with the same fire that Louis had burned the ThÊâtre with only a few years after sheâd gone.
This was the desperation of the vampire Isabelle de la Rue,
and the desperation of the young mortal Bella Ditell,
all wrapped up into one bleeding watercolor quilt of a woman.
âI was swept away again,â she choked out, catching her breath. âI let him take me back to the ThÊâtre, swooned into him when he put La Bohème on his phonograph, and relished in every physical reminder that this glorious, terrible, deeply complex and surely divine being could not bear the thought that I would leave him. I committed it all to memory-the dizzying warmth of Armandâs bare chest against mine, my hand moving up his thigh and his tangling in my hair as he ripped out every bobby pin Iâd placed for easy travel, the way the taste of his blood was now tinged with something like bitter wine. His grip was rougher now, but I didnât careâŚâ
Her breath having nearly returned to steadiness, Isabelle winced at one more admission.
âI didnât notice the pain, because it fit so well with the music.â

When Omar first meets you itâs because a young Ukrainian girl has been found bleeding out on someoneâs lawn after being stabbed thirty times. Sheâs lucky to be alive, heâs told at the hospital while he waits for you to arrive. When he thinks of the nineteen bodies theyâve just found buried in the woods and the shallow grave Hailey had clawed her way out of he thinks luck had nothing to do with it. That girl is a fighter through and through.
When you appear, he isnât prepared for just how pretty you are. Youâve tried to downplay it; no makeup, hair tied away from your face but youâre naturally striking. Youâre wearing civvies, black jeans with battered Doc Martens, a light grey tunic top thrown over the top. Youâre in the midst of clipping your badge to your hip when he approaches you.
âSorry.â You greet him, raising your head to meet his eyes. âIt was my day off.â
For a moment the entire world falls away and heâs completely captivated by you. This is what the Quran talks about, he thinks, when you meet your soulmate. Thereâs a sense of tranquillity, of peace. A familiarity that you canât explain. Thatâs how he feels when he shakes your hand.
âHanna Emery.â You introduce yourself. âHuman Trafficking Division.â
Hanna
In Hebrew it means compassion.
You certainly live up to your namesake.
He hangs back during the interview. Heâs new to the bureau, still finding his feet and heâs experiencing a lot of firsts during this case. Human trafficking is your world, something youâre well versed in he comes to discover as you question Hailey. The technique is different, tailored towards different aspects of the victimâs experience. Thereâs an emotional intelligence in you that he canât even begin to fathom.
Through the course of the interview, you learn that Hailey and her sister were trafficked from the Ukraine through an Eastern European employment agency. They were from a small farming community. They each completed a test before participating in a video interview. Theyâd been ecstatic when theyâd discovered theyâd been selected for jobs in New York City.
âItâs a scam we see often,â You tell Omar in the aftermath when youâre comparing notes. âThey target girls in rural communities, the ones that donât know any better.â
The girls had been picked up at the airport in a van by three men Snake, Spider and Hog. Theyâd been transported to a townhouse before descending into what Hailey described as the depths of hell. Your demeanour changes when Hailey mentions the name Snake, itâs a subtle shift, a tension in your shoulders, your eyes flicking upwards.
âWho is he to you?â Heâd asked you as he swiped his card over the payment feature of the vending machine. âSnake?â
Youâre already tearing open the wrapper of the candy bar heâs just bought you because youâd had to skip out on lunch with a friend to cover his case. Omar figures itâs the least he can do.
âA monster.â You tell him. âIâve been cleaning up his mess for almost two years now. The shit heâs done to these girlsâŚâ
You shake your head as you throw the rest of your half-eaten candy bar into the trash.
Itâs when Hailey describes the extent of her abuse that Omar finds himself at a loss. She and her sister Brook were taken to the basement of a townhouse, raped for three days straight. Thatâs incomprehensible to him, the terror of it, the violation. He has three sisters, the thought of something like that happening to one of themâŚ
It makes him sick.
âItâs a way of breaking them down, keeping them compliant.â You explain to Omar afterwards. âIt destroys their hope, erodes their sense of person. They become an object to be used, a vessel for someone elseâs pleasure.â
You pause, your fingers toying with the bracelet on your wrist. Itâs woven fabric, black, white and red threads all interlocked in an Aztec pattern and secured with a tight knot. Itâs a couple of years old, he thinks. He doubts youâve taken it off since it was given to you.
âThey call rape murder of the soul, itâs worse than death. With death thereâs peace, an ending. With rape, the person you are is completely obliterated, you can pick up the fragments, but they donât fit the same way they used to.â
Itâs harrowing, hearing it described like that. You must have done thousands of these interviews, heard so many variations of the same story. He wonders if it wears on you, if it takes a little piece of your soul everytime you endure their suffering along with them.
âIâm not sure how you recover from something like that.â Omar says, rubbing his hand over the nape of his neck.
âSome donât.â You say sadly, your arms crossing over your chest as you look through the window into Haileyâs room. âHailey though, sheâs strong. I think sheâs one of the ones that make it.â
âIs it true what you said?â He asks quietly, his shoulder coming to rest against the wall. âIs it really one in five women who get sexually assaulted?â
You sigh as you tilt your head to look at him. He sees the truth of it in your eyes and it devastates him because that means itâs happened to someone that he knows, someone he cares about, and he isnât sure what to do with that knowledge.
âYea.â You say softly. âIâm afraid it is.â

âWhen I was 18, I worked for 14 months in the factory of the American Thread Company, I was a âthread carrier.â That meant I pushed around hand trucks with big bundles of coarsely-wound thread in them. I pushed my thread to a great big machine which later made it into perfectly-wound thread. I daydreamed a lot and I thought a lot. I was very confused at the time. I didnât know what I wanted. At that time, I went for one year to a psychotherapist. I had not been able to pass my grades in school. After the psychotherapy, I went back to college (on the $1500 I had saved out of my $57-a-week salary from the Thread Company) and passed everything in a flash. The following year I re-enrolled, got hung up on two psychology courses and my part-time job as a deejay â and I flunked again. I also remember that when I lived in New York for a short time, I took guitar lessons from the doorman of the building where my grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Straus, lived. I also taught a bunch of kids up in Westchester for awhile. I wonder if they remember me now.â - Peter Tork, 16 Magazineâs The Monkees: Here We Are! (1967)
âThe first time I flunked out of college I went to work in a thread factory. I really enjoyed that. It was worth the drudgery not to have any responsibility, just to run around all day pushing a hand truck, delivering boxes and packages around the floor. There was something about the factory â you knew what you were doing; there was no fooling around. It wasnât like doing the Monkees TV show, which isnât art but a factory with pretentions. There are always compromises of one kind or another. While there lots of drags and hang-ups about TV, I suppose itâs in the nature of the medium to be that way. Iâm not sorry Iâm involved with it, although artistically I feel that my music expresses me with more integrity. Another thing I learned in the factory was how to get along with all kinds of people. You couldnât just say, âIâve had it,â and walk out on the job. You had to stay there and work out your relationships.â - Peter Tork, Seventeen, August 1967
â[O]ne of [The Monkees] worked in my department. His name was Peter Tork. He was going through college and he worked part-time one summer at American Thread. He was a tall thin fellow.â - Irene Monroe, Willimantic: Industry and Community: The Rise and Decline of a Connecticut Textile City by Thomas R. Beardsley (1993)
