I need him to walk into the penthouse, tired and angry and sad, and see his little Robin sprawled across the floor, giggling as his crayons draw him and Alfie and B—their little family.

Just started watching The Penguin and now I'm in love with two criminals... 💣💥

The thing about Matt Reeves' direction is that he tricked us into thinking that the penguin would be just another superhero show where the villainous character, by the virtue of being the protagonist, becomes an anti-hero with a tragic backstory. Instead he gave us the most compelling, manipulative gaslighter main character who really shows you just how he's going to be one of the most terrifying batman villains in his trilogy.
