here’s some of the WIP where I gave tarlos a pet again I’m hoping to have this finished by easter

He settles the bunny in a shoebox on the end of his bunk, but it doesn’t take long for it to hop across and crawl into his lap.

“Aww, somebunny loves you; I’m sure that’ll be a great comfort when Carlos divorces you for bringing home another pet without asking,” Nancy teases as she appears in the doorway.

“You’re the worst, Nancy.”

“Okay, in that case, I guess I won’t tell you that I saw Carlos’ car out front and that you have about a minute to get your story straight about the rabbit,” She says.

“Can you distract him for a minute?” TK asks, pulling on the AFD hoodie strewn across the bunk's end and carefully stashing the bunny inside the pocket. He can already hear Carlos’ boots on the stairs.

“Too late,” Nancy smirks as she heads out the door toward the stairs. TK hears her greet Carlos as she passes him on the stairs.

Oh.

Kurt was asking for him, was the reason TK had come to this hospital room at all. There were a lot of people who would have killed to be here, to be able to ask a million questions, to be able to record the recovery progress. TK didn't want to do any of that. Actually up until a second ago he had not... really known what he'd been doing here at all.

Now a corner of his mouth pulled, nodding: a grimace that promised, I get it. He dropped a hand to the metal railing at the front of Kurt's bed. Kurt was a patient. TK was not and did not want to be the only person Kurt felt he could talk to or ask for company. Normally he would have very limited contact with patients in the first place, after treating them. This was far from normal for anyone involved. Far from normal for Kurt, too.

"Well," he opened. If he did this gently Kurt would not feel the redirect at all, would feel the welcome more loudly: he was welcome. "Y'know, there was a whole team involved, Kurt. We all cared what happened for you. You could come say hi whenever you wanted, once you're better. The guys would love that."

The station was big. They got thank-yous and thank-god-you-were-theres walking in off the street all the time. The guys would love that.

TK chewed his lower lip, trying to figure out this young man. He was an adult, actually. 20-something. Not much younger than TK. Not that it felt that way. A difference in experience, he guessed? It felt really different. He wasn't sure he liked that it felt different, like that, like they were worlds apart. This was why normally they just wouldn't...

He had come when Kurt asked for him because Kurt had not had anyone else to ask for.

"Did you speak to the social worker?"

The hospital would have had to give him one. Would have started setting him up with somewhere to go, some way to survive, in the after. "How did that go?"

I'm forever so obsessed with all the different friendship pairings on this show and the way you can just put nearly any two of them together and get magic because there's so much love and they all have special connections with each other that go beyond the romantic pairings. Nancy and TK. Judd and Owen. Tommy and Grace. Judd and Tommy. Tk and Mateo. Carlos and Owen. Marjan and Paul. Paul and Carlos. Mateo and Owen. TK and Judd. Grace and Carlos. Marjan and Mateo. TK and Paul. Tommy and Nancy. It's just all so good the found/chosen family is so good.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Time Loop AU is slowly, but surely coming to an end, so here's a little something that gives us another peek into Carlos and Nancy's friendship :)

“Any updates?” Carlos asks, taking a meager sip of his dark roast.

“He’s still fighting,” Nancy answers softly before taking another sip. This time she lets the residue last a little longer, trying to latch onto something sweet during something so bitter. Eventually she licks her lips before continuing. “Tommy’s trying to get in touch with Owen.”

“How are you?” Carlos asks, glancing over Nancy and seeing her hand shaking slightly.

“Me?” Nancy questions back with a counterfeit smile on her face. Carlos can tell the question is supposed to be jovial and facetious, but the facade is barely hanging on. “How are you?”

Carlos knows what Nancy’s trying to do; she’s trying to answer a question with a question to avoid being honest about how she really feels. It’s a page from his very own playbook.

“You saw him fall through the ice, Nance,” Carlos replies, addressing the unavoidable.

“Yeah,” Nancy agrees but her reply is void of emotion; nothing more than a courteous response. She looks down at her hands, focusing on the hand that’s faced up and not currently wrapped around a coffee.

“You know it’s funny,” She begins, licking across the surface of her lips in hopes of capturing the taste of something sweet. “My hands keep shaking from the cold water, but I’ve been dry for a while.”

Nancy came home the following morning, showered, and got ready to head to breakfast. She approached the elevator, pressed the ‘down’ button, and waited for the elevator car to stop on her floor. Moments later, the doors opened for Nancy to see a disheveled Carlos in the same clothes from the previous night. She was speechless, covering her mouth with her hand to keep herself from cackling.

“Someone had some fun last night,” Nancy said as she entered the elevator car. “You’re coming to breakfast with me and telling me EVERYTHING.”

“Ugh.” Carlos groaned, “Can I at least shower first?”

“I guess.” Nancy was grinning ear to ear, she didn’t even know what his night looked like but from context clues, she was so proud of him.

I started reading Rachel's Carlos & Nancy bffs fic last night (I *WILL* leave a comment when I finish it, I promise, I just got too tired last night to keep reading) and I just love their friendship and it kind of inspired this. It's not really much of anything yet (i wrote it on my phone while out walking my dog) but hopefully i can work it in my nancy/marjan fic somehow.

"Nancy?" Carlos opened the door for her further to let her in. "Is everything alright?"

"TK isn't home is he?" she asked, looking around.

"No... he's at a meeting with his sponsor... But I can call him for you if you want."

"No. I want to talk to you, I need to talk to you and TK can't know."

Carlos frowned.

:"Why? It's a bit early to start planning his birthday. You know it's not until December."

"Marjan and I are together. As a couple. We're dating." Nancy blurted out. "And I need to tell someone or else I'm going insane."

"Uh... well... uh... congratulations? I guess?"

"Sorry for dumping all of this on you but normally I'd talk to TK since we're stuck in the bus together all day anyway, but Marj doesn't want him to know yet, but she can talk to Paul. So Judd and cap are the only ones left, but I can't talk to them or captain Strand because Mateo lives with him and he's already moved to B shift because of me and -"

"Hey, take a breath." Carlos grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze. "You're always welcome. We're friends, you can always talk to me. I just... wasn't expecting this... any of it to be honest."

"Yeah... it's uhm... new..."

"Yeah? Good new?"

Nancy smiled.

"Oh yeah. So good. I feel like I'm on cloud nine whenever she's just in the same room and when she smiles... when she smiles at me... the rest of the world just fades away."

Carlos smiled, he knew the feeling all too well.

"Come on, sit down. TK won't be back for a while, he and Cooper usually grab something to eat after their meetings." He sat down on the sofa and waited for Nancy to join him. "Tell me everything."

thanks cig!!!! and this is so difficult oh man, i love that this show emphasizes the importance of platonic love just as much as it does romantic love. i could scream about so many of the pairings.

but!!! my heart always remains with tk and nancy. i love how they had them starting off a little rocky and i love how they’ve grown to have such a wonderful sibling-like relationship. i love that they can bitch with each other, i love that they genuinely have a love and respect for each other, i love that their friendship has allowed nancy to move more into the fold of the 126 as a whole. and just….they’ve survived so much together, i adore them with my whole heart <3

summary: TK brings home a new pet from a call, again.

After reversing the ambulance back into the firehouse after their tenth call into a busy shift, Nancy turns to TK, who sits beside her in the front, sipping on an iced coffee and clutching a cardboard pet carrier. “How did we get here again?” She asks him with a slight shake of her head. “Again?” He asks, raising an eyebrow. “You're bringing home a pet from a call without asking Carlos again,” She says, referring to the couple’s shortlived and somewhat traumatic first pet together: Lou, the alligator lizard. At least this time, the pet didn’t have to be extracted from inside a patient’s limb first—the same could not be said of Lou.  If he’s being honest with himself, TK still isn’t really sure how it happened. It had been a long, busy shift, and things were starting to blur together in his mind as he waited for the caffeine they stopped for on the way back to the firehouse to kick in.

Nice ask! Do you have any frivolous lone star headcanons? (ie, something that doesn’t matter to the plot and maybe there’s no real evidence for but you believe it anyway)

Oh, I like this question! I'll give you my top five in no particular order, they range from angsty to absurd.

TK self-harmed before he discovered opioids, easier to hide pills then injuries.

Carlos got his nipples pierced with TK's encouragement, he likes them played with, he does a lot of chest days at the gym too.

Nancy liked dressing up in drag, Tim was her biggest supporter, she stopped after his death (this is entirely because she would be incredibly hot in a suit and a 'stache and I always wanted more from thier friendship).

Owen tried guys when he was young, he was mildly disappointed to find that he was very straight, lol.

Gywn is bi, the bird was from her last relationship with a woman before she met Owen (he's always had bird issues, tragic).

this was my first full year in the fandom, and it's been absolutely magical! the total count was thirteen, which is more than i ever dreamed i would write tbh

i'm not exactly sure who's done this already, but i'm gonna tag @bonheur-cafe, @inflarescent, @noxsoulmate, @lightningboltreader, @chaotictarlos and @detective-giggles!

It hasn't even been a week and I already have so many thoughts for what I'd like to see next season lol.

1. I think the search for Gabriel's killer should be left until the second half bc it would be way more satisfying to end the season with that.

2. I'd like to see Tarlos just being married. I'm not saying that there can't be some kind of drama but have them face it together. They've had so much growth this season I would like to see that continue rather than just more miscommunication now that they're actually married.

3. Have the first few episodes focus on Judd and the Ryders and how the 126 is affected by Judd not being there. Have some focus on Wyatt's recovery and how that affects his and Judd's relationship. Maybe have some scenes with TK and Judd. I think this would be a good opportunity for that.

4. This would also be a good opportunity to explore dual-certified TK more. Have him filling in for Judd on some cases.

5. Actually more of the usual rescues. I feel like we didn't get a lot of those this season.

6. More light-hearted episodes. This season was darker than any of the others and I think next season should return to having more light-hearted episodes.

7. Bring Iris back. We could see more of her friendship with Carlos. Also, have her and TK interact. Iris obviously sees a kinship with TK and I think it would be cool to explore that. Plus it would be great comedy to have two of them getting up to shenanigans and driving Carlos crazy.

7. Bring TK into the Robert storyline and see him and Owen interact. Along with that, see how it affects their relationship with Robert's family since Owen helped Robert die is likely going to be revealed. Explore Owen's grief and how it triggers his trauma over Tyler and have him and TK talk about that. And explore TK's feelings since he was so excited to get to know his cousins.

8. More of the other couples. I want to see more of Paul and Asha and learn more about Paul's background through that. And see Marjan and Yusef develop. And Nancy and Mateo. Maybe they have some conflict and we get to actually see them being a real couple beyond a few cute moments.

8. Maybe see TK thinking about his faith more. Maybe a rescue makes him think about it and he contemplates returning to temple. And with that, have Marjan exploring her faith more now that she's with a Muslim partner that she chose for herself. All respect but I think it's time that the non-Christian characters got a little more focus.

9. Have Carlos and Andrea talk about how Carlos’s relationship with Gabriel hurt him and have her actually listen instead of invalidating it. Have him tell her how much it hurts that Gabriel was so distant with him for most of his life and how he died before they could actually have a better relationship. Maybe have him talk to his sisters too. It's possible that they just don't get how hard it was for Carlos bc they have different memories of Gabriel and they weren't there when Carlos came out so they don't know just how bad it was.

10. Have the season end with them catching Gabriel's killer. Maybe Carlos decides to become a detective. He's obviously going to be involved in the search somehow but have him do it right instead of him getting obsessed and going off on his own which would also show the growth he had this season.

I know this is a lot lol. But these are just some thoughts I had. I just hope that the strike can end soon so we won't have to wait too long

Britt, I've been reading my favorite Glee fanfic this week again and I'm in my feels!!

1. It's 2010. Glee is the craze, the moment. So UT Austin is hopping on and several glee clubs open up. The enthusiastic guy handing out flyers for the 'Fire Pipes'? No other than TK Strand.

2. Carlos. can't. sing. But he can dance and somehow carry a background tune enough to make it into the Fire Pipes. Turns out, he's not the only one with adequate talents at most. They are kind of a ragtag group of mediocrity but it's the easiest friendships he's ever made.

3. TK wants a solo. He always wants a solo, but especially on Valentines, because he's kind of in love with Carlos and what better way than to publically declare it with Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran right in the halftime show? Luckily, Marjan and Nancy tell him maybe the publically of it all isn't what Carlos would like.

4. So the Fire Pipes make up a campus competition that pairs a dancer with a singer and shove Carlos and TK together. TK gets to sing out his heart, Carlos gets an excuse to pull TK close and sway with him to it until they're too busy making out to do either.

5. The Fire Pipes lose every competition, but they celebrate their losses at their favorite Pizzeria, year after year until they sing and dance at each other's weddings, and hog the stage at every karaoke bar Austin has.
