Fuck The Oklahoma Athletic Commission, or why Nyla Rose deserves the world
Tumblr media
It has been half a year, but I'm back. I told myself I wouldn't write another piece until the right topic came up, and it has.
For those not in the know according to this source: https://okcfox.com/news/local/oklahoma-commission-issues-warning-against-all-elite-wrestling-after-transgender-match7
The Oklahoma Athletic commission have warned AEW "not to do this again or there will be punitive action made against them" in reference to Nyla Rose wrestling a Ciswoman on AEW.
AEW should absolutely never run Oklahoma again (or just run it again and have Nyla on the card) because this is outrageous.
I am a transgender professional wrestling fan. I am a transgender professional wrestling fan who had been having a good day. This has unmade my day. Nyla Rose has uplifted and inspired me so many times and I will never be able to thank her enough for it. AEW made a promise when they made her the second ever AEW women's champion. They may not have known it but to me that made a promise that AEW was a safe place for Trans fans and Trans wrestlers. I hope they maintain that and uphold this promise.
We love you Nyla.
This has been Undisputed Queer-a.

Oklahoma Supreme Court dismisses lawsuit of last Tulsa Race Massacre survivors seeking reparations
The suit was an attempt to force the city of Tulsa and others to make recompense for the destruction of the once-thriving Black district by a white mob. In 1921 — on May 31 and June 1 — the white mob, including some people hastily deputized by authorities, looted and burned the district, which was referred to as Black Wall Street.
As many as 300 Black Tulsans were killed, and thousands of survivors were forced for a time into internment camps overseen by the National Guard. Burned bricks and a fragment of a church basement are about all that survive today of the more than 30-block historically Black district.
The two survivors of the attack, Lessie Benningfield Randle and Viola Fletcher, who are both now over 100 years old, sued in 2020 with the hope of seeing what their attorney called “justice in their lifetime.” A third plaintiff, Hughes Van Ellis, died last year at age 102.
...
The city and insurance companies never compensated victims for their losses, and the massacre ultimately resulted in racial and economic disparities that still exist today, the lawsuit argued. It sought a detailed accounting of the property and wealth lost or stolen in the massacre, the construction of a hospital in north Tulsa and the creation of a victims compensation fund, among other things.

Get ready; there are going to be challenges.
"This is but the first in what will likely be a very long, very contentious Pride month for libraries across the country. We've already seen Target back down to the pressure from right-wing attacks that came last year, and it's a sign of how the biggest bullies are winning with their agenda of LGBTQ+ erasure.
"If you're in or near Enid, Oklahoma, it's time to write your board and ask them why they denied the exhibit application of a trusted and previously approved organization. Show up at the July meeting in person if you can and use your time at the mic to speak up about the inconsistency and bigotry disguised as 'not knowing' in applying their own policies."

Oklahoma City’s gay district is small. It’s about a half a mile and its old industrial buildings repurposed for refuges in the 19870s and 80s. There was standing room only in the District tonight. Crowd size usually for Pride celebrations, however this time it was a vigil for a Nex. Every quiet person is familiar with bullying. Every queer person is familiar with power structures doing nothing to stop it. Every person knows what it’s like to be confronted and choosing between fighting back or weighing the risk of the parents finding out why we chose to fight. Would parents finding out be worse? No one deserves to die from local, administrative, state and national bullies
