In 1977, Zahir Muhsein, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and a military commander of the PLO, in an interview with the Dutch newspaper, TROUW, declared the Palestinian people to be a propaganda invention. His exact words:

“The Palestinian people do not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct ‘Palestinian people’ to oppose Zionism.

“For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we claim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan”.

In the Quran, there are 10 passages which state that Allah bequeathed the land to the Jewish people. In all of these instances, it is written that there is not only the right but the obligation placed on the Sons of Israel to inherit the land. On the other hand, there is no mention in the Quran of bequeathing the land to Muslims, Arabs, Palestinians, or any other nation not called the Jewish people.

🇵🇸🇮🇱 🚨 ISRAELI OCCUPATION ARRESTS PREVIOUSLY LIBERATED PFLP LEADER KHALIDA JARRAR

The Israeli Occupation authorities arrested the previously liberated leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Khalida Jarrar, along with journalist Hamad Taqatqa, from her home in the occupied West Bank city of al-Bireh, near Ramallah.

Jarrar is the prominent leader of the Marxist-Leninist Palestinian Liberation group, PFLP, which is the second largest faction within the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), and was previously elected as a member of the former Palestinian Legislative Council.

Israeli Occupation authorities previously released Jarrar in September 2021 after being detained by the Zionist regime for two years under charges of belonging to a Palestinian Liberation movement, with PFLP being determined to be a "terrorist organization" by the Israeli entity.

The IOF also detained the previously liberated detainees Ihsan Shtayyeh in Ramallah and Rashad Karaja, head of the Safa Village Council, after their homes were raided.

The IOF also kidnapped the Palestinian journalist Hamad Taqatqa from his home in Beit Fajjar, south of Beit Lahm.

EPISODE 010: Translations of Memory: The Films of Palestinian Cinema (Part One)

Understanding the history of Palestinian cinema begins with an understanding of its positioning in survival through decades of war and the diaspora of its culture. The events of the "Nakba", which sought the displacement and dispossession of an entire Palestinian nation, in 1948 set a paradigm of violence against Palestinians and the sovereignty of their land. Many of these tragic events, and those that took place leading, were captured by filmmakers alongside the birth of celluloid film technology, however, many of these films remain either lost or destroyed to this day. Film historians, and many Palestinian filmmakers, can identify Palestinian cinema through its four periods that are divided by significant markers of social change. 

In Part One of Episode 010: Translations of Memory: The Films of Palestinian Cinema, we look into the signifying factors that shifted the first and second waves of Palestinian Cinema. Palestinian cinema is most recognized for its resistance to settler occupational forces that debilitated decades of independent productions, while its nation of people struggled to crystallize its unity and cultural homogeny, as much of its historical films were lost, and thus only exist today through memory and re-distributed by oral storytelling.

the 30k palestinian death toll is most definitely underreported. it's been that number for nearly three months yet the massacres have not stopped with almost 100 palestinians dying a day. many gazans have admitted that they haven't reported the deaths of family members or friends to the ministry of health. and gazan health officials themselves have said the ministry of health is practically collapsed and therefore it has not been able to report the number of deaths accurately.

i think about how during the bangladesh liberation war, which lasted 9 months, the minimum number of deaths reported was 300k, but the official number was likely 3 million given the pakistani/us-made famine that led the starvation of so many rural bengalis.

gaza has 2.1 million people living in what is now the most densely populated area in the world, which has constantly been denied humanitarian aid and has been bombed for 5 months with thousands still under the rumble and unaccounted for. i can't even fathom what the real number of deaths could be right now.

I’ve been having a lot of difficulties in my personal religious life lately due to currently being in the process of converting to Judaism (a process I began almost two years ago and was supposed to finish this coming spring) and I just want to say that it has been so unbelievably disheartening to see the way that self proclaimed liberal Jewish institutions have been handling the fact that Israel is carrying out genocide against Palestinians. I attend one of the most famous and oldest LGBT synagogues in the country and today during our conversion group study meeting we talked about popular tourist and religious attractions in Israel. My teacher joked that he “felt like a tour guide” showing us all these cool places of cultural and religious importance in Israel while giving but a tiny acknowledgement to the fact that Israel was built on colonial violence and occupied land. Today, as I read about thousands of displaced Palestinians in the south being bombed in areas that were thought to be safe I also had to sit through an Israeli “history lesson” focusing on its importance as a safe haven for Jews. I’m so devastated by the way I’ve been seeing pillars of LGBT Jewish life respond to what’s happening. I don’t have anything smart to say it’s just so dire to see that white liberalism extends so deeply into spaces that I and so many others turned to for religious fulfillment

LAND DAY OVERVIEW: "In 1976, the Israeli government's announced a plan to confiscate some 20,000 dunams (20 km2; 7.7 sq mi) of land for state purposes between the Arab villages of Sakhnin and Arraba, of which 6,300 dunams (6.3 km2; 2.4 sq mi) was Arab-owned. It formed part of the Israeli government's strategy aimed at the Judaization of the Galilee.

In response, Arab towns declared a general strike and marches were organized from the Galilee to the Negev. The Israeli military and police killed six unarmed Arab demonstrators, half of whom were women; injured one hundred more; and arrested hundreds of others."

Me playing dumb because I know this person is just being Arabophobic and Islamophobic: “Which phrase? Alhamdulillah?”

Some have complained about the memes being disrespectful. You're actually legally obligated to make fun of Israeli propaganda and Zionists. I don't make the rules.

Edit 4: Gazans have specifically asked us to put every effort into pushing for a ceasefire instead of donations. "Raising humanitarian aid" is a grift Western governments are pushing right now to deflect from the fact that they're sending billions to Israel to keep carpet bombing Gazans. As long as the blockades are still in place there will never be enough aid for two million people. (UPDATE: PLEASE DONATE to the Gazan's GoFundMe fundraisers to help them buy food and get out of Rafah into Egypt. E-SIMs, food and medical supplies are also essential. Please donate to the orgs linked in the How You Can Help. Go on the strikes. DO NOT STOP PROTESTING.)

The twitter accounts I reposted as it was given to me and I just now realized it had too many Israeli voices and almost none of the Palestinians I'm following, so it's being edited. (Update: done!) also removed sources like Jewish Voices of Peace and Breaking the Silence that do good work but have come under fair criticism from Palestinians.

Is there anything I can do to help Palestinians besides call my representatives and beg them to stop killing people?

This is a great question. There are a few things you can do—just off the top of my head:

BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) https://bdsmovement.net/

Direct Action https://www.palestineaction.org/

Urge your University/School/Organization to put out a statement denouncing Israel

Organize a Protest/Participate in a local one

You might already be doing this but while calling your reps, tell them that as a voter, you're unwilling to support them in the upcoming election unless they urge the White House to take a stand against Israel and stop funding them

Share art/writing/films around Palestinian culture

If you're part of a union, ask them what they're doing to urge their industry leaders to take a stand against Israel + pressure the White House OR urge them to start a strike/walkout/etc if they're not doing anything already

Talk with your friends IRL about Palestine, whether in an activist capacity or watching a movie or literally anything

Reach out to a mosque to see if you can help them with anything

See if your city/state council has put out a statement in support of Gazans. If not, try to push them to do so.

Donate to Palestine Legal or Direct Action if you have some money to spare

KEEP TALKING ON SOCIAL MEDIA!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know some of these don't feel like they have as big of an impact on helping Palestinians, but we do need to make an effort not to forget their humanity in the face of continued erasure and the media's sensationalist rhetoric.

Talking on social media and posting—while not seeming like a lot—does SO much. I know in USAmerica, it's like yelling into a void, but political analysts are saying that most of the "Global South" has completely lost any amount of goodwill it may have had the past few years. Hopefully, countries will start to put sanctions and embargoes en masse on the US and Israel soon.

Our goals here are BOTH short-term and long-term. We hope for the life and liberation of the Palestinian people, so anything that you can think of might help at some point in the future is encouraged to at least try.
