Lanuary 2024 Day 2 - Yiling Wei Sect Head Disciple
"Did you know? The Yiling Laozu hadonly one disciple in his lifetime. A boy only four years of age!"
Lan Sizhui's ears perked up despite the rules against eavesdropping. There wasn't much he could do about it while sitting in a crowded tavern. Gossip traveled on whispers like dust in the howling wind.
Surely it wasn't his fault these patrons' voices were so loud? The rules were never clear about this, but better to be safe than sorry. Sizhui turned his attention towards meditative recitation, the way Ba— Hanguang-jun had taught him. When Hanguang-jun returned from the room he'd entered to confer with the inn's proprietress, he would see Sizhui sitting pin-straight and proper, not a hair out of place.
But try as he might, the ruckus from that table was impossible to ignore.
"You're kidding!" one the sectless cultivators said as they slammed their drink down, amber liquid spilling onto the table. "The fearsome Yiling Laozu tried to teach demonic cultivation to a kid???"
His friend's lips curled in disgust. "Yes, it's true. People in this very town mention it all the time. That he dragged this poor kid everywhere with him! Why else if not to teach him how to terrorize everyone."
The third cultivator leaned in to whisper, "You don't suppose he…abducted the child do you?"
Sizhui's heart started racing. He'd heard many stories about the Yiling Laozu, everyone had, of course. Especially since Jingyi had just finished this last phase where he spoke nothing, reading nothing, saw nothing if it wasn't about the Yiling Laozu.
According to Jingyi's rants, though the Yiling Laozu was indeed fearsome and utilized forbidden techniques, they were never for nefarious gains. Jingyi's theories point to him being a recluse more than anything else, a drunkard alone on the hill.
That never sat well with Sizhui. He couldnt explain why, but the thought of a lonely man dwelling on a mountain of graves with nary a living soul nearby, made something like a pit open up in his stomach.
It was sad, he thought. It was sad.
The door to a room meant for staff opened and a man dressed in pristine white robes with an embroidered forehead ribbon stepped back into the room.
Sizhui instantly stood, bowing perfectly the way he'd been taught. "Hanguang-jun," he greeted, keeping his tone level and biting back the urge to smile like a fool at his caretaker's return.
The table of cultivators' silence rang loud as a hush fell over the room. Hanguang-jun nodded his reply to Sizhui and seemed to glide across the room, while they stared after him like gaping fish.
This time their whispers were an actual attempt at discretion. "He'd know right. He'd know if—if you know who really, you know, stole a child?"
"Shh!!! Don't you know? Next to Sandu Sengshu, the one who hates the Yiling Laozu most is…"
Their words trailed off as Hanguang-jun stopped in his path, though his solemn gaze remained rooted on the empty space in front of him.
Sizhui tried valiantly to keep the shock from his face. Hanguang-jun had long ago mastered the ability to ignore gossiping, letting it slide off his person as easily as dew dripped down from a bamboo leaf. Sizhui had never seen him so affected by words. Did Hanguang-jun really hate the Yiling Laozu that much?
But only a moment later, he stepped away and reached Sizhui's side as if nothing had happened at all.
Hanguang-jun gracefully folded his legs and took his seat across the table. Sizhui hurried to pour tea into a cup, taking care to hold back his sleeve the way he'd been taught.
Choosing to ignore what had just happened, he asked, "How was your meeting, Hanguang-jun?"
He waited patiently as Hanguang-jun blew steam away from his cup, cooling his tea before taking a measured sip. Falling back into old habits, Sizhui couldn't help but admire and take note of his demeanor. If he were really shameless, stars would bleed from his eyes.
Hanguang-jun nodded, pleased with his drink. "Productive. You have poured this tea well, Sizhui."
Sizhui beamed, heat rising to his cheeks at the praise.
"And the curse? Has it been resolved?" he asked instead of squealing like Jingyi when Hanguang-jun told him his writing was legible. But only just.
Hanguang-jun hummed. "Mn. The matter has been resolved. We will head back to the Cloud Recesses tomorrow once we've rested."
Sizhui relaxed back in his seat, allowing a moment of discomposure that hopefully Hanguang-jun would ignore.
Not bad for Sizhui's first proper outing as a junior Lan disciple. He was surprised when Hanguang-jun singled him out for a nighthunt, one on one. Jingyi hadn't stopped whining about it for days.
Sometimes Sizhui thought Hanguang-jun showed him too much special favor. But he smiled into his cup all the same.
The elderly innkeeper steps out of the kitchen carrying a tray laden with food. Silver strands of hair slip from her ponytail, shining in the candlelight.
"There! I remembered all your favorites from last time you visited," she winked.
But each of the dishes she placed on the table were redder than the last. Red peppers and red chili oil, even the soup had a shiny spicy sheen on the top.
The innkeeper placed her hands on her hips as she stood up, proud.
Sizhui gaped at Hanguang-jun.
Hanguang-jun's ears flamed red as the dishes he stared down at. A shifty glance—shifty! A shifty Hanguang-jun! Jingyi would never believe this—at the proprietress waiting eagerly for him to try it. When it became clear she wouldn't leave until he took a bite, Hanguang-jun spooned a mouthful of the spicy soup.
Sizhui's jaw dropped to the floor.
In all his years living in Cloud Recesses, he'd never, ever seen Hanguang-jun eat something like this.
Pulling a small cloth from his sleeve, Hanguang-jun coughed daintily into it as he told the proprietress, "Thank you. It is delicious."
"I hope so! Soon as I saw you I knew what I had to serve you," the innkeeper babbled as the two Lans stared mournfully at food too painful to eat. Sizhui took a tentative morsel of a vegetable dish, wiping off as much of the red sauce as he could on the plate.
The innkeeper continued speaking like she hadnt noticed. "If only our Laozu was still with us, he'd have eaten it all! And the little boy that was with you! He ate so well! It's horrible what happened to them, such a terrible shame" She rested a hand against her cheek as she sighed.
For the second time that day, Hanguang-jun stiffened, his spoon held aloft.
'Laozu?' What Laozu?
They were in Yiling so it could only be one…
Sizhui stared wide-eyed at his senior, who at some point in his lifetime sat in this very tavern having a spicy meal with the fiendish Yiling Laozu.
The vegetable fell from his chopstick onto his lap.
A stream of whispers that made no attempt at being discrete erupted from the other table, these cultivators having no care for the Lan tenets.
"See! I told you! The Yiling Laozu stole a young boy to be his disciple!"
"You also said Hanguang-jun hated him! Why would they
have a meal if he hated him!"
"Maybe the Yiling Laozu brainwashed him too. Maybe he helped him kidnap the child? Maybe they're both in on it!"
"Then did Hanguang-jun betray him? He was the one who led the sects to Yiling Laozu's cave."
"He must have killed the boy too then. There's no way someone as righteous as Hanguang-jun would let a demonic child like that live—"
Chopsticks slammed onto the table, rattling the dishes as Hanguang-jun stood from his seat in a single, brusque movement.
His expression was the usual smooth, unreadable jade, so Sizhui almost assumed Hanguang-jun had stood so suddenly for some other reason, until he bowed to the proprietress and said, "My apologies for living so soon. We must return to the Cloud Recesses immediately. Thank you."
Apparently it was possible for Sizhui's jaw to circumnavigate the floor entirely, falling into the earth itself.
Lying. Hanguang-jun was lying!!!
"Come, Sizhui," he said, and without a backwards glance towards the gaping cultivators and with an exaggerated flourish of his sleeves, Hanguang-jun marched out of the tavern.
Sizhui hurriedly reached into his money pouch and placed in ingot on the table, bowing in farewell.
Forgetting to pay as well? If Sizhui didn't know any better, he'd think Hanguang-jun was possessed. Next he'd take his forehead ribbon off and strut around the inn without a care.
Sizhui hastened his steps to follow Hanguang-jun, head turning this way and that for a trace of his senior.
Finally, he spotted him standing before a market stall selling, of all things, children's toys. Wooden swords and hand-stitched dolls wearing colorful fabrics. Hanguang-jun was stroking a finger across a pair of artfully crafted grass butterflies.
Maybe he was possessed by a child after all?
"Would Gongzi like to purchase one? I weaved these two just this morning," the stallowner politely enquired.
Hanguang-jun shook his head in reply and, folding the hand that had touched the butterflies into a fist behind his back, walked off down the street.
Though Sizhui should be in a hurry to catch up to him, his feet stopped at the stall. Looking down at the pair of butterflies entwined in their stand, something in his heart ached.
"I'd like to buy these, please."
He found Hanguang-jun in a side street off the market, standing tall and proud and still as a statue. Unsure of what to say or even if he should, Sizhui took his by Hanguang-jun's side, content to simply be near as the sounds of the market faded into the background.
The grass butterflies were expertly crafted and Sizhui became mesmerized by the way the twined together as he twirled them again and again. He didn't notice Hanguang-jun was watching as well until he spoke.
"Yiling has grown since the last time I was here."
Hanguang-jun's voice held a softness that reminded Sizhui of the first time he took him to see the rabbits, all those years ago. He looked up, still twirling his butterflies, as Hanguang-jun watched with golden eyes a million miles away.
Sizhui bit his lips, wondering if he should say something. but before he can his senior plucked one of the butterflies from his hand. Fingers lined with guqin ridges spun the butterfly again and again.
"There was a similar stall back then that sold butterflies as well."
He pressed the grass butterfly against the one held in Sizhui's hands, almost like a kiss.
Sizhui's heart raced, suddenly desperate for an answer, "Did you really meet the Yiling Laozu back then? At that inn?"
A moment passed, and Sizhui thought Hanguang-jun wouldn't say anything.
Then, of all the things, Hanguang-jun smiled.
Faint, only the smallest lift at the corners, but a smile nonetheless.
He was smiling, so why did it look like he was about to cry?
"We did, yes," he replied.
"We?"
Hanguang-jun set him a mournful look.
Oh, right. The boy.
Before he could think better, Sizhui blurted, "So it's true then? The Yiling Laozu had a disciple? A little boy?"
Hanguang-jun gaze drifts off to the side. "Not quite. He was Wei Ying's, but not a disciple."
The Yiling Laozu's real name was Wei Wuxian, but he'd never heard anyone call him that. Not even Jingyi ever mentioned it.
Curiosity lit a spark in Sizhui's belly. Just what sort of relationship did Hanguang-jun have with the Yiling Laozu for him to call him so casually? For him to smile when he talked about him? For him to seem so sad?
But bravery is fickle, and Sizhui was abruptly afraid of the answer. In fact, a part of him almost wished he never asked anything.
The other part of him yearned to learn more about his most respected senior and the dead man he clung to.
How many times did Sizhui wake to the sound of guqin strings playing Inquiry? How many times did he hear the loud silence of their answer?
"The—the Yiling Laozu had a son?"
Hanguang-jun's gaze held a teasing sparkle when it settled on Sizhui. "He birthed him from his own body."
Sizhui pursed his lips with confusion. That did not make any sense, but Hanguang-jun began weaving a tale before he had a chance to think more of it.
"There was a little radish that followed him everywhere," he said, quiet and fond. "He spoke very fondly of the boy, but he would never allow any harm to him. Wei Ying cared for him."
"So that stuff about him making this kid his disciple…"
"Mn. Utterly false." A noise like a scoff escapes through Hanguang-jun nose, like even the very idea is ludicrous.
"Oh." For whatever reason, Sizhui's shoulders slumped in dejection. He supposed it would have been interesting, to meet someone trained and cared for by the Yiling Laozu himself. He wondered what kind of person they grew up to be.
He swallowed and glanced at Hanguang-jun through the corner of his eye. "Do you think he's still alive...that boy? That he's okay?"
Hanguang-jun shifted to face Sizhui head on. "Yes," he said, with a surety and conviction that dazzled. "I believe he is. He is doing well and thriving."
He took the butterflies back in hand. This time when he smiled down at them, it touched his eyes.
"Wei Ying would be proud," he told the butterflies. He turned that smile towards Sizhui and it was almost like looking at the sun.
He didn't quite understand why it felt like that warmth filled his insides too, why he felt it flowing through his veins. Why Hanguang-jun's words made him so happy.
He beamed back all the same.
As they mounted their swords to return home, Sizhui turned back for one final look at Yiling and the Burial Mounds behind it.
The sun was setting over the mountain, blues and pinks and purples splashed against a midnight sky, casting long shadows like it was waving back.

After everything we have been through why has it come to this? why wasn’t I good enough? I gave him heirs I gave him my body, my soul, my happiness, my life. Why has it come to this? Does he know even know I know if his sins does he even care? Obviously not as he got the woman pregnant.
I get out a half scoff half laugh as tears sting my lower lash line. Shaking my head I stare into the fire that warms this unnervingly cold room and wait, wait on this uncomfortable chair I had told him time and time again to get rid of but was constantly ignored. Has it always been like this? I filling his needs while he ignores mine?
I have to stop my mind from going to the past not wanting to drive myself crazy with everything that has happened. Taking a deep breath I let my tears disappear from my eyes as my face take a new form a look of nothing, void.
It was hours that I waited to hear the unmistakable roar of vhagar but eventually I did, what normally be a feeling of relief and happiness has turned into rage and dread.
It didn’t take him long to rush into our shared chamber concerned with myself and the babe I carry as I did not greet him upon his return. As soon as he set his sights on me he could tell something was wrong.
“My love, are you well? Is it the babe?” He asked concerned but was it really concern or just false pleasantries I did not know anymore. My face still voice of emotion I stood up my large belly making it a difficult but manageable.
“You call yourself a man of duty and honour correct?” I ask getting a confused ‘of course’ in reply making me let out a hmm as I whisper. “Liar.”
“What?” He asked still confused with my hostility towards him. “Alys rivers is with child, I was surprised to hear as she is a bastard but you will not believe what surprised me even more, husband.”
I finally turn to him, his eyes flashing many emotions I knew I had got my answer but I wanted him to admit it admit his infidelity. “What, my love?” His voice cracking trying to conceal his true emotions.
I let out a laugh making his eyes widen. “Oh you will not believe this my heart, a man with white long hair has been spotted numerous times entering and leaving her chamber oh and here is the part that gets me every time I think or hear it whispered that man had an eyepatch.”
My smile wild smile slowly fades into something murderous. The man who prides himself with being untouchable is now backing away from me a girl smaller than him. “Tell me husband doesn’t that discerption sound like someone I know?” I ask finally stopping in my tracks watching him open and close his mouth like the fish from the dock when they get pulled out of the water.
“My love, you must believe me that’s not me! I would never betray you like that.” He tries to convince me.
“How long?” I ask knowing it’s going to bring me heart ache. The white haired man stays silent looking at his shoes. “How fucking long.” I yell wanting the answer I deserve now.
He mumbled a reply but it was so quiet I couldn’t make out what he said. “What?” I ask. He finally looks up to meet my eyes. “From the start.” He said his voice shaking as tears began welling in his eyes.
Realisation dawned on me in that moment the missed birth and name days were because he was fucking her instead of being here with his wife and child. “I hope that when you’re finally happy with this alys rivers and ur bastard child daemon comes and takes it all away.” I said with so much hate in my voice I saw him flinch back. “Get out, go back to your whore for all I care I want you out of my sight.”
His footsteps quickly approach me and before I can pull away the taller man take my arms in his hands. “my love my life please I can fix this. Please don’t push me away. I will do anything, I won’t ever see her or meet the child please I love you.” He begged over my shouts from him to let go of me.
When I finally got free him his iron grip made my way to the chamber door before turning around looking at him. “I am daenyra Targaryen, daughter of daemon Targaryen and Rhea Royce. The next time you touch me will be last time you have hands.”
And I left leaving him crumbling in the mess he had created.

“Hop up my little love. You can do it.” I encourage my son as I helped him on my dragon before getting up myself. I tightened the saddle straps around baelor and myself before I start giving commands to the black dragon under us.
“Serve me, cannibal. Fly.” I command as he descends off the grown and into the sky. “Take us to dragonstone.” He lets out a growl in acknowledgment as he flys into that direction. It was difficult getting out of the keep without being seen but surprisingly I did it.
I move try to move my body to a angle so I could see the look plastered on my sons face but it being difficult as my pregnant belly in the way but I manage to get glimpses of the wide eyes and the smile that could light up the seven kingdoms.
We weren’t far from dragonstone as the dragon let out a happy roar happy to be going home after all this time. But the happiness was short lived from the thing i have been dreading being followed.
“Daenyra stop please. This doesn’t have to be difficult.” Aemond yelled out as him and his dragon gained on us. My eyes go wide as I start commanding cannibal to fly faster and lose them. Understanding my commands the dragon lets himself drop lower in a way to get them off our tail.
But it didn’t works it made the man chasing us angry as he starts to yell making vhagar return his feeling of anger. But as we fly faster hope filled my heart thinking we lost them.
Oh how wrong I was.
Without warning vhagar flew up in front of us making baelor scream and cannibal turn away from dragonstone and closer to storms end. It felt like déjà vu. The sudden rain hitting my skin like little knives making me hold my son closer to try and keep it from hitting him.
I could tell all of this was scaring my little boy. “Close your eyes my sweet boy, you will be alright mothers got you, you don’t need to be scared while I’m here.” I whisper sweet nothings into his ear. Holding him so tightly as he lays his head back onto my chest while tears flow down my cheeks mixing themselves into the rain. “I love you my sweet boy and you my sweet girl, I will love you forever.”
It felt like forever before it was over. The cries of terror the screams.
Cannibal is a wild dragon and his rider his first rider was threatened he had to protect his rider and the children. the two dragons attacked each other Aemonds and my pleas for the dragons to stop fell on deaf ears. It wasn’t until the wrong move was made Aemond let his anger before consuming his dragon just like what he had done with the tragedy of Lucaerys.
The last thing I saw was the unforgiving sight of dragon fire before it was over. I held my child and covered his eyes not wanting the last thing he sees being so upsetting but at least I can still be with my children just not in the way I wanted.
Now
-
The sound of cannibals loud pained roars shook the walls of dragonstone.
Daemon stood across the field from the black dragon that is wailing at the loss of his rider and his riders children.
Daemon had never felt like this before the rage and depression that he feels as he gazes at the burnt corpses of his baby, his little girl and grandchildren wasn’t like anything he had ever felt. He knew one thing and one thing only.
Aemond Targaryen will pay and his little girl
Will be avenged

A Lucid Reality
Summary: In which you are aware that you and Chuuya can never be in the normal sense of a “couple” but that doesn’t mean Chuuya won’t be there to comfort and protect you. Even if it means he has to visit you through a dream..
Pairing: Reader x partner/lover Chuuya
Inspired by “A month of Sweetness” Sneak peak prompt 1: Dream
Warnings: Cursing, hurt/comfort,
Enjoy~
Tumblr media
“ What’s the matter sweetheart?” Chuuya’s voice was deliberately quiet, barely above a whisper. Yet it managed to echo around the small living room in an almost deafening fashion. “ Hard day?”
You didn’t reply.
Your gaze was focused somewhere in the distance, an empty space in the otherwise filled-to-the-brim room, the combination of your and Chuuya’s things, a messy awkwardly stuffed combination of your and Chuuya’s things. Some of which were duplicates; same cups, similar notebooks. furoshiki with half wrapped gifts and accidentally identical omiyage. Others were personal, a packet of cigarettes peeking out atop a box full of folders, dozens of plushies in all shapes and sizes; private pictures sliding out of albums and clothes. His pristine black coat draped over a box, your worn out one tossed carelessly to the floor right in front of you.
Your mind was in a place far away from the safety and comfort of your dream home. Drifting in and out of reality with every syllable that dropped past his lips; some moments awkwardly aware of his presence, other times painfully aware of his absence.
“ Goddamn it, are you even listening to me, Y/N?” He was close to yelling, yet the amplitude seemed the same. The words echoed around the space just as loud as his earlier whisper“ Y/N?”
“ You’re not here” you sighed and brought the tear stained pillow closer to yourself; placing it in your lap, you wrapped your arms tightly around it in a feeble attempt to mimic a hug. Then you rested your head on top of it. A sigh escaped your lips as you felt the cursed thing deflate under your touch, as if avoiding you.
An inanimate object too, huh?
“ Sweetheart..” you heard him breath out but you ignored it. The same as you ignored the way his lips pulled down into a frown, the look on his face turned serious. His arms crossed over his chest, eyes a fixed stare at your feeble form on the couch. He was telling you- no ordering you to look at him. Yet all you did was focus more on the spot behind his shoulder.
Chuuya sighed; an exasperated sound that came from the soul before he pushed himself from the wall. He approached you slowly, as if in hope that you’d turn to face him with a bright smile and say you were fine. That you would make it- that you didn’t need him today. That you were going to be strong without him.
Instead you remained silent, and he all too obediently sat down on the edge of the couch beside you. His body turned to face you, worried blue orbs running up and down your form. The edges of his lips twitched, as if he wanted to say something but could not bring himself to.
“ You are not actually here.” your words were accompanied with a sigh and the burning behind your eyelids. What you would do to have him beside you and yet you knew better than anyone it was nothing but an impossibility.
A foolish dream from a foolish girl that would never amount to anything good.
“ Does it matter sweetheart?” Chuuya asked as he took his hat off and studied it in his hands- something to do that didn’t entail staring at you.
You scoffed, finally shifting your gaze from the wall and onto him. You were met with a gentle smile, clearly pleased that he had your attention. Your look however was less than amused; “ How can you even ask that? Of course it matters!”
“ It shouldn’t”
You gaped at him. Your mouth opened and closed like a fish as all sorts of mean exclamations ran through your mind. What did he take you for? Why did he think it wouldn’t matter whether he was there with you or not? How dare he assume you would just-
“ Dollface I don’t have to be with you every second of every day to be ‘here’” Chuuya rolled his eyes. At your raised eyebrow he leaned closer, his gloved hand on your cheek, a ghost of a sensation on your skin. His lips pulled up into a boyish grin, mischief radiated off of it.
“ C’mon don’t give me that; no self respected man can stay with their lover every second of every day, there’s work, life and other shit. This isn’t much different” Chuuya shrugged ever so slightly. You bit the inside of your cheek, holding back the half rude remark that even long-distance lovers had more than what you two shared.
As if he read your thoughts, Chuuya’s smirk widened ever so slightly. “ Please sweets, we can talk and I can touch you. Long distance doesn’t have that” he then chuckled, his look turned even more mischievous. Suddely he leaned closer to your ear; “ And we both know I can rock your world even without 'touching you'” he purred then nipped your earlobe.
“ Chuuya!” you gasped, your face flushed red. Your blush moved onto tomato-shade as his chuckle echoed around you. Still he held onto your face, not letting you pull too far away or look anywhere but him, anywhere but the sincere blue of his eyes.
“ I can protect you sweetheart” he breathed suddenly, the words a tiny whisper inches from your lips, reserved only for you and your ears. If it wasn't so silent you'd have missed them “ I can guide you, but you need to put in the work my darlin”
At the word ‘work’ you sighed heavily, your shoulders dropped in surrender. You closed your eyes and leaned into his touch. You salvaged the sensation of his thumb as it brushed your cheek, and the faint warmth against your face with his every breath. If you closed your eyes and disregarded logic then you could fool yourself into believing that this was a reality. The reality you needed the most at that very moment. The caring sensation of his lips on your skin, the salvation of his breath on yours. Affection with no strings attached; attention that was reserved for you and only you. Not to be shared with another; not to be taken away for a little mistaken or some other reason entirely out of your control. Not to be responsible for anyone but yourself.
In here you were safe and not so very alone.
Suddenly Chuuya pulled back, his lips leaving your skin. The warmth of his leather glove, a ghost of a touch, gone. The action made you whine and open your eyes, a silent plea not to stop. Just a minute- a second longer. Please.
“ Sweetheart” Chuuya leaned forward again until your foreheads connected, a grave expression on his face. “ You need to wake up”
“ W-what?”
“ You need to wake up Sweets; right NOW!”
You opened your eyes with a startle just in time to hear the click of your front door lock giving away. Your heart in your throat; your mind vaguely registering that you were alone and were not expecting visitors at this hour.

Working fast food is not exactly a stretch of the brain. I mean, it's exhausting, and every moment a customer is about to do something stupid and make you and your coworkers break out the fucking mop bucket again, but the actual routine is mind numbingly dull. Some days it feels like BaobaCo has reached its squid-mascoted tentacles down your throat to feed you the words.
It's got you by the throat again. "Hi, welcome to Baoba, how can I help you today?"
The girl drums her fingers on the counter. She's wearing a black facemask screenprinted with wolf teeth, or maybe something gnarlier, big tusks. Real edgy. Kinda cute. She hums. "I'd like a rose milk tea, half sweet, with black jelly, please."
Your fingers punch the keypad mechanically. "Rose milk tea, half sweet, black jelly. Any snacks for you today?"
The girl hums again, though the mask hides her exact expression. "Mm... hold on." And she reaches into her pocket and fishes out a doll.
A little marionette thing, face carved with the same wooden tusks as the girl's mask, but otherwise beautifully made; its little limbs and fingers all articulated. It sits in the girl's palm as if leaning comfortably against a tree. "What do you think?" the girl asks it.
The doll's head tilts sideways. Its little marionette jaw clacks open. "Get the popcorn chicken," it advises in the girl's exact own voice. "You'll need the energy in the coming fights."
The girl nods seriously and slides the doll back into her pocket. "Add one popcorn chicken, please."
Rote habit overrides bemusement and your fingers punch the order in too. "That'll be 130.5 wen, please."
The girl reaches into her pocket again, frowns, rummages around a little. Her hand's caught on something. She pulls a little harder, and a little harder and finally yanks, and her whole arm falls apart.
The hand tumbles out of her pocket, metal ball-and joint threaded with all the little threads that must pull the musculature. Her forearm too, dangling from her upper arm. An elbow-cap or something twists free and threatens to tangle in the now exposed threads.
The girl stares down at her arm, ignoring the shrieks of literally everyone in line behind her. She looks back up at the menu again. She sighs, deeper than you have ever heard anyone sigh, almost as deeply as you feel it in your soul right now. She looks back down at you. "Sorry. Better make that two orders of popcorn chicken."

"Baby I'm home!" Marc happily calls out for you right after swinging open the door of his apartment. After a hard day of Khonsu constantly ordering him to be *the fist of vengeance*, he wants nothing more than to be in the arms of his lover, getting smooches and hugs.
"Y/n? Baby?" Marc called out again after hearing no answer from you. Are you still mad at him? It seems like you're more interested in staring at his little goldfish Gus than saying hi back to him.
Marc thinks back to the argument he and you had in the morning, he can't even remember what it is about to be honest, all he remembers is how sad you look when he decided to leave for work, earlier than everyday 15 minutes and with no goodbye kiss.
God, he feels like an idiot, of course you would still be mad, and now look at him, coming back with no flowers or chocolate, nothing to seem like the argument also affects him as much as it is to you, what can he possibly do? Look in your eyes and say a half-ass apology? Marc feels pathetic, but he has to do what he must do anyway.
'Couple argue all the time Marc, cmon, get yourself together' Marc told himself while awkwardly standing next to the fish tank, hoping that you would give him a sign, that you would yell at him or hit him, anything, just please don't give him the silent treatment.
"Y/n I-"
"Marc-"
Both of you decided to speak at the same time while looking into eachother eyes, but Marc insisted you talk first.
"You should take your medicine Marc" Your voice was so small he could barely hear it, but Marc could make out one word, and for him it was enough.
"Med- Medicine? Y/n baby what medicine? I don't-" You can hear the confusion, almost panicked in Marc's voice.
"Take the pill Marc, YOUR pill, take it Marc, stop trying to hide it, MARC TAKE THE MEDICINE" Your voice gets louder and louder each time, making Marc stumble backward in shock. Who are you? no, you're not Y/n, his Y/n would never yell at him like this, the eyes that one looks at him with love and adoration now full of hate and spite.
Marc feels his heart aching and his head pounding, why are you acting like this to him? What is happening? What did he do? No...no...no...
"YOU CAN'T MAKE ME YOU CAN'T MAKE ME-" Marc yelled out while repeatedly hitting himself in the head, hands losing control.
---
"Marc!" A male voice called out, taking his full attention. It was a man with a mustache and funky glasses, Marc squinted his eyes so he could read the name tag on the man's shirt.
'fucking....Dr.Harrow...what kind of name is that...' Marc thinks to himself while slowly blinking his eyes, getting adjusted to the bright light and white-ish room he is in, how did he end up here? He was talking to you one moment ago, and now he is siting on this chair, facing (what he assumed) a doctor.
"Marc, as I was saying, you have to take the medicine I personally-"
"where....Y/n, she...where...what did you do to her" Marc spoke out in a breathless voice, completely ignoring Dr.Harrow, but when did he get so weak? He has barely done anything and he is out of breath.
Dr. Harrow, who is now cleaning his glasses with a handkerchief, looks at Marc in a frustrating way. "Do you really want to know Marc? I have been trying my very best to help you, but look at what you have done, always making a mess, lying to the nurse, even trying to escape the hospital. Marc Spector I am asking you once again, can you be a bit more cooperative?"
Marc rolled his eyes backwards and cursed under his breath, he believes what he is hearing is nonsense, bullshit and on top of that, annoying.
"Marc, are you listening to me? I know you don't- hey! HEY!" Dr.Harrow's voice makes Marc sick to the stomach, so he does what he can only think of at the moment: order his legs to run away as fast as it can, even if  he would have stumbled and fallen down to the ground, face smashing to the cold marble floor.
Grunting and moaning in pain, Marc tries his best to push himself up before feeling he gets lifted up by 2 people, Dr.Harrow's voice still in the background. "Be gentle with him please, thank you"
After getting pushed back to the chair, Marc can't do anything but look like he is going to destroy the whole office, he is mad, angry and confused, he can't stop thinking about you, what exactly has happened...?
"Do you want to speak to Y/n? Hm? Would that make you calm down? I can call her right now, if that's what you want, Marc" Dr.Harrow continues to speak.
'Y/n.. my Y/n, please let me speak to her, please. I need to know if she is okay, I need to' Marc wanted to say that out loud, but his ego is too big, he refused to be weak and show emotions, so all he did was give the doctor a little nod, eyes yearning.
After giving out a long sigh, Dr. Harrow begins to dial the number on his landline, looking at Marc to assure him he really is calling you and not just faking it.
"Ah, she picked up here-"
Marc didn't even let the man finish the sentence; his hand immediately reached out to grab the phone, voice quivering. "Baby, Y/n, where are you? I can-I can save you if you want. I just have to figure out how to leave this...place...office, would you wait for me Y/n?"
Marc chewed on his bottom lip, anxiety slowly building up each second you don't respond.
"Marc....we have had this talk before, you're making it harder for Dr.Harrow aren't you? I know you're feeling very scared right now but it will get better bae, you will get better...I hope so" Your voice waver at the end, Marc know you're trying your best not to cry while speaking to him.
But what did you just say? You know Dr.Harrow? And..."we have had this talk before"? When? So many questions flood into Marc's mind, he can't help but ask again, hoping to find out the truth.
"You don't remember? You said you're ill Marc, you said that you need help, and that's what I have done, trusting Dr.Harrow to help you..."
"But... but you will have no one to protect you, I can protect you..." Marc's hand tightened on the phone after hearing what you said.
God... Marc is more stubborn than you think, he refused to drop the act, or admit that he is the one who is wrong, you're sick of it, you're sick of HIM. "For fuck's sake Marc, how can you even protect me? With your imaginary god and goddess? With whatever crap you bring up whenever I ask you where have you been? What the HELL is a Khonsu anyway? We fight so much because of it Marc, our last argument is the last straw. I can't... I can't love you when you're like this Marc. "
You cried out while saying everything, not caring if Marc can even listen clearly to what you have said, but you are too tired now. After hearing no response from Marc, you decided to hang up and shut down your phone, scared that Marc would call again, talking with you in his desperate and yearning voice, and you wouldn't be able to stop yourself from running back to him.
But the truth is, no call was made. Marc never dared to ask Dr.Harrow to call you again. He was on his knees, crying, screaming, throwing a tantrum like a little kid, and instead of receiving hugs and sweet encouraging words like he used to in the past when he was with you, Marc was met with a hard and disappointed voice from Dr.Harrow, saying he would never change and "the more you try to be tough, the more pain you have to suffer".
At this point, Marc has no energy to answer anymore. He looks like a corpse. His heart is beating, but at the same time, he wishes it would just stop.
"Now...like I said before....----" Dr.Harrow's voice faded out in Marc's head, he couldn't focus on anything besides what you had said to him. How ironic, Marc chuckled, he guesses the only way he can protect you now is to stop protecting you.

Part 2 of Used to This (Masterlist)
Summary: A flashback to how you met Natasha and a decision to make.
Word count: Around 2.7k
Warnings: Blood, mentions of the red room, depressing thoughts, probably inaccurate writing of the red room

There was an awkward silence for a moment before you burst out laughing. The Avengers needing your help? Yeah, right. Nice try Natasha. The previously confident woman frowned at your reaction, not knowing why it was funny to you. She also frowned as she realised she missed the sound of your laugh. It had been too long.
When you finally settled down, a few chuckles escaping you, you saw Natasha's serious face and everything stopped.
"Wait... you're not being serious right?"
"Why wouldn't I be?" Natasha said, oddly quiet.
You didn't know what to say so you just glanced down at your shoes, gulping before looking at her straight in the eyes. It felt like you were looking right into her soul, and that scared Natasha.
"What makes you think I want anything to do with the fucking Avengers? Or you, for that matter?"
Natasha rolled her eyes and stood up. The laughing she wasn't expecting, but this she was. You had known each other for a while. Years ago when the redhead was still in the red room, you had found each other because you were attempting to kill the same guy. However, you were getting paid for it meanwhile Natasha was only killing him to survive. It was a random, corrupt politician you didn't care about, and you got to him first. When the trained assassin ran in the office room where his brains were splattered across the wall, she almost had a panic attack. God knows what Dreykov would do to her if she returned a failure.
-Years Ago-
"He was mine!" Natasha exclaimed in a Russian accent. She was wearing all black. A zipped up jacket and combat trousers. "You have no idea what you've done!"
You stood there awkwardly, not really sure what she was going on about. Also concerned that she wasn't reacting like a normal person would when they see a dead body.
"Uh, what exactly have I done?" You questioned as you watched her pace back and forth muttering in Russian. You could make out a few words, like 'idiot' and 'kill'. Was she going to try and kill you? That would make sense.
It turned out you were right as she stopped her pacing and launched towards you. You stumbled backwards before your back hit the wall where the brains were splattered. Your gun scattered across the room. You groaned in pain as the Black Widow assassin pounded her fists against your sides and you struggled to breathe. 'Get it together, Y/N. This is a life or death situation'. Before she could get another hit in, you grabbed her by the sides of her head with both hands and headbutted her. Fuck, that hurt. Action movies are extremely unrealistic you realised. The assassin took one step back before she threw a punch that knocked you to the floor. Damn, you were going to die to a hot girl because you skipped gym too many times. Although it wasn't exactly the worst way to die.
When the girl pulled out a baton from her back that you somehow didn't notice before, you did the one thing you really didn't want to do. Something that was definitely going to hurt your pride; plead.
"Wait, wait, okay wait," The girl ignored you and got closer and you held your hands up in surrender. "Wait, fuck no, please. I can help, I swear I can help!"
She stopped. Did it work? Her eyes searched yours for a sign of lying and you just stared back at her.
"How... how could you possibly help?"
"Well, first it would probably help to tell me what's happening and why you're so angry," You suggested. The redhead standing above you opened her mouth to speak, but quickly closed it. It happened again and usually you would've laughed at the fact she looked like a fish out of water, but that would probably be a bad idea in this moment. Eventually, she spoke.
"I needed to kill that guy and you took that away from me,"
You thought for a few moments before replying.
"I can see this means a lot to you, but no offence, it wasn't like I knew you wanted to kill him."
"Not wanted. Needed." she said under her breath.
"Huh?" You said, barely hearing her.
"Nevermind," she muttered before continuing. "Look, if I go back empty handed, then i'm screwed. I needed his head on a plate but you ruined that." Her eyes pointed to the bloody wall.
"Like... actually needed his head?" Natasha nodded. "Jeez, that's a bit dark, don't you think?" You laughed a little before stopping immediately when the assassin's face didn't move.
Finally standing up, a little wary of being knocked down again, you raced through ideas. You didn't know her and if you were being honest, the only reason you were helping her is because you didn't want to die. Maybe some part of you deep inside felt bad, but this girl had just beaten you up.
"You said you're screwed if you go back without his head. What does screwed mean?"
She didn't reply and just looked at you with a blank face.
"Okay fine don't tell me, I'll just assume it's something really bad."
After a few more moments of thinking, you had a few ideas. Most of them were shit but at least you were trying.
"How about you go find another fat, greasy man, preferably bad, and whack his face in so no one can tell it isn't this guy."
"No"
"Okayyyyy," you dragged out. "Why can't you just chop off his arm or something? Say you lost his head in a river or whatever,"
The assassin raised an eyebrow. You weren't very good at this.
"They won't accept that."
"Who's they?"
"None of your concern. If you don't have any good ideas then just say that so I can kill you and figure this out myself."
"Woah, woah, woah! Hold on, just give me a few more minutes to think. You don't have to kill me."
You walked behind the desk at the side of the room. If she was going to try and hurt you, you'd flip the desk over. Or at least attempt to. You weren't that strong. You weren't that creative in this moment either and she wouldn't let you get your gun. Why couldn't you think of anything, dammit?! Dying this young would be a shame.
"Hear me out, what if you just don't return to whoever or whatever is going to screw you?" You suggested.
"Are you serious right now?" The redhead glared and grabbed her baton again.
"Well I don't fucking know! You're not telling me anything so I don't know what to suggest!"
"Then that just makes you useless." With that, she stalked towards you again. Fuck sake.
"I'm not useless, I have money!" Then you gasped. "Yeah, I have money. I can help you run away. In fact, i'm getting money from this kill right here! Come with me and you'll be fine."
God bless you and your words. She stopped again with a curious look in her eye. She was considering it and you took that as a win.
"I can't. They have a tracker in me."
"Oh." In? Does that mean she could take it out? Maybe by cutting it out.
"Can you take it out?" You cringed as you voiced that thought. What a dumb question. By the look on her face, she thought so too.
"Technically I could but they'd know and then they'd come here."
This is when you started grinning. Looking at you like you were crazy, she gripped the baton tighter.
"So let's make sure you're not there when they do,"
An hour later you both arrived at the nearest airfield. After the both of you sneaked out of the office building, you hotwired a car. Natasha wasn't sure why she was surprised you knew how to. Someone who could kill someone should be able to steal a car. The plan should be pretty easy. It was very simple. You call in a helicopter from an acquaintance and once it's ready to pick you both up, you cut the tracker out of her body. The only issue was that as soon as the tracker was out, it would set off an alarm back at the red room. You didn't know what the red room was, but it didn't sound friendly. Hopefully by the time they got to the airfield, you guys would be long gone. Hopefully. As you were waiting for the helicopter to arrive, you tried to make small talk.
"Hey, I just realised you never told me your name."
It looked like she was hesitating before she answered.
"Natasha." She decided. If she was really escaping, she would need a new name.
"Pretty name. I'm Y/N" Sure, it was kind of an odd situation to compliment her in, but you couldn't stop yourself. You watched as she looked away, not replying to what you said. Great, now it was awkward. Not knowing what to do now, you began humming a song. Unfortunately, it only lasted about 20 seconds before Natasha got annoyed. She lightly hit your shoulder but watched as you flinched back, surprised at the sudden contact. Her eyes looked slightly apologetic and she opened her mouth to speak but the sound of helicopter blades interrupted her.
"It's time. You okay?" You asked. Yeah, you got a little frightened when she touched you but you doubt that was anything compared to what she was feeling.
"Yes," she said, unzipping and removing her jacket. The tracker was located at the top of her arm and the plan was for you to use a knife your acquaintance brought you to cut a small opening and use your fingers to fish it out. It was probably going to be gross. When the pilot stepped out the heli and handed over a small pocket knife, you mentally prepared yourself. Sticking your finger in someone's wound plus having to move it around was not going to be pleasant.
Both of you knelt on the ground, you to the side of her.
"You ready?" you softly questioned. Up close you realised how beautiful she was. Her nose was cute and her green eyes were ethereal and her lips were perfect and- why were you thinking about that? You glanced away and cleared your throat just as she bit her lip lightly, noticing what you were gazing at.
"Do it"
You brought the tip of the knife up against her skin where she had previously showed you was the exact place the tracker was and dug in. You noticed how she hardly seemed fazed and that was a little concerning but you continued. The blood ran down her arm and once it was deep enough, you placed the bloody knife beside you. Sucking in a deep breath, you raised your hand towards her open wound.
"Sorry, this is probably gonna feel weird."
You internally winced as you inserted your index finger into the opening and felt the blood gush all around it. If you were an asshole you would've made a joke about your fingers being inside her. She definitely wouldn't appreciate that. Your finger located what you assumed was the tracker, (cause why would there be anything else that shape in her body), and you tried to nudge it towards the opening. Natasha hissed quietly and grabbed onto your knee. Ouch, what a grip!
You apologised for the uncomfortable feeling she was experiencing and tried harder to push the object towards you. Finally, after a few more nudges, it dropped out onto the ground. You audibly cheered and stood up, making Natasha release her grip.
"Let's go" you smiled stepping up into the helicopter. She gave a genuine smile for the first time in a long time. Yes, this was very risky but maybe there was a chance Dreykov wouldn't kill her if they caught her. She would be heavily punished, but she was the best assassin in the red room. Hopefully that meant something. As the vehicle took off, she leaned her head against the window, deep in thought. You wanted to get to know her better but you decided to leave her alone. Plus, you needed to make a call so you could go get your payment.
-Back to the present-
"Your opinion on us doesn't matter. We need help and you're the only one that knows the things we need. It will only take a few weeks at max, I promise."
"Oh please, we both know your promises don't mean shit." you raised your voice. "I don't give a fuck about you glorified 'superhero' cunts needing my help. Get out."
There was silence for a few moments as you angrily stared her down. Not many people would be brave enough to do that, but you knew Natasha too well. Badass on the outside, but on the inside she was sensitive. Especially when it came to people she was close to. In this scenario, used to be close to.
She cleared her throat and pulled something out of her pocket. You stilled before you saw that it was just some sort of business card.
"If you change your mind and realise that you could do something helpful for someone else for once, just call that number," she said as she walked towards your door. The assassin opened the door but not before turning around.
"And one last thing. I suggest you get a better place. It was way too easy to break in." With that, she was gone.
At least your pizza was okay.
2 days passed and here you were again eating more pizza. It wasn't the healthiest option but you didn't care. You'd burn it off anyway. Deciding to turn the TV on, you forgot you left it on the news channel and scowled when Tony Stark appeared. The truth was, you didn't like him or most of the others. They acted like they were Gods. Cool, you have a suit that can shoot beams, or a shield made out of the strongest metal on Earth, or amazing aim. That didn't make them better than everyone else. Because once they had defeated the next villain of the month, they didn't care about the damage they had done on the way. All of the collateral damage didn't mean anything to them.
If your car was destroyed and it was your only way to get to work? Too bad, you should be grateful you're not dead. Oh, you got crushed by a piece of road the Hulk threw and it paralysed you? Well, be grateful you still have a heartbeat. They wouldn't care until it was them.
You watched as the other Avengers appeared beside him, including Natasha. Her sister, Yelena, was the only one you could tolerate. She was truly human. She didn't put on a fake persona in front of the cameras. You remember helping her escape from the red room a year after you had helped Natasha. The three of you were close, and you always hated how leaving Nat meant you had to leave Yelena too.
But as you looked at the Avengers' smiley faces, you couldn't help but feel empty inside. The sisters' had their own family now, and you weren't apart of it. You weren't a part of anything. This feeling of loneliness wasn't likely to go away. Maybe it was time to find a friend? Fuck, that sounded pathetic. Which sounded even more pathetic was that you were scared of being close to someone again. To be so open with someone, just for your heart to eventually break. That's why you preferred to be alone. To work alone. Job after job, mission after mission. If you set your mind to more practical things, you wouldn't have a chance to think about what you were feeling.
You zoned out for a while until you heard the soldier boy speak.
"We believe there is another threat to our country. Now, there's no need to panic, we have this under control. An organisation called Blue Clover that was previously thought to be discontinued is most likely back." You shot up, eyes widening as you heard that name. Blue Clover. Blue fucking Clover.
No. No, no, no. No. Just no. Nope. Fuck, no.
'You're the only one that knows the things we need.' Natasha's words ran through your head. Fuck you, Natasha. Of course this would happen. Life just wanted to fuck you so hard until you felt like you couldn't take it anymore. It hated you. It fucking hated you. If there was a God or Gods out there, they must have something against you. Bring the person you once loved until it hurt too much back into your life, how nice! Revive the organisation that traumatised you and made you the way you are, sick!
You felt tears burning your eyes, but you wouldn't let them fall. Not now at least. You had an important call to make, even if you really didn't want to.

A/N: One more chapter to my lovely readers! Hope everyone enjoy ♡ love you all!
Tumblr media
Since you left Curtis’s apartment, the name Frank Castle and The Punisher didn’t let you have a moment of peace with your own mental conflicts. You went straight back to Metro General Hospital, to stay with Maddie, looking to all Hell’s Kitchen’s dark alleys afraid of the man you just found out it was alive – or dying like the man said earlier at Curtis’s door – would appear to kill you because you suppose to knew he wasn't that dead at all.
You closed Maddie’s door and sat on the armchair by her side, lying your head on the edge of her stretcher bed. Intertwining your fingers, you joined your hands together and tried to relax.
You mind decided to make a visit to the first memories you had of Frank Castle.
He was killing everyone who crossed his path, people were terrified by him. Also, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen was hunting him down, the police too, and the scenery was a bloodbath and a modern urban war. You were lying down on Maddie’s bed, sleeping with her, but suddenly the gun shots started. A lot of them.
People running in the hallway, you locked the door, hoping the one who was shooting didn’t find the two of you. Even putting all your body weight against the wall, the author of the shoots was determined to find the one he was looking for.
The door handle turned, trying to be opened. Your heart is beating crazy inside your chest.
A bullet crossed the handle, breaking in the door at once. The Punisher breaks in, walking slowly.
You are paralyzed. Your blood running as cold as the air in my skin. His dark gaze on you, so as his gun.
“Ple…please…” You choke on your own words.
His chin moved a little, but his muscles were static. The black boots on the floor moved straight back to the hallway, but he looked over his shoulder to Madison, taking a good look at her.
You put yourself between his stare and your sister. Somehow this provokes him to leave.
Your phone buzzed in your pocket, waking you up at once, like your soul came back aggressively to your body.
Now you wanna talk to me, Billy?
He was going to taste his own poison.
You didn’t want to talk to him. He made you feel so guilty yesterday that you left your sister to do what he wanted, and when you got close to the true big fish he was chasing, he left you in the dark. And more: he made you put your own ass on Frank Castle’s vengeance way of life.
After Claire promised you for the fourth time that Maddie was fine enough for you to go home, you left the hospital getting a cab because your feet couldn’t have another long walk.
Slamming the taxi’s door, you went up the front stares of the building, begging for your bed.
“For how long you are going to ignore me, doll?”
You jumped, scared with Billy’s figure appearance coming from the corner.
“For how long I want, Billy.”
“Even if I could reach your call in time, I couldn’t go after him. Not now, at least.” He moved his face from the shy sunlight coming from the sky, focusing on your weary face.
“Why? You don’t have the balls to go after him alone?”
“Jesus, doll…” The marks on his neck making you anger burn more and more inside you. “You are piss off just because I didn’t get your call? I was taking care of other business too.”
“Oh, fuck you, Billy!”
You tried to shut the front door on his face, but his foot blocked the door.
“I’m not in the mood for you, Billy.”
“But I’m in the full mood for you and your anger, doll!”
He grabbed your waist with hands, while you climbed the stairs, caressing his nose on your back.
“Get off, Billy…” You shot him with a look. “For Christ’s sake!”
both of you keep that fight between the back of your body and his hands, until you arrive at your apartment. Billy decided to give you a break when his phone rang and after you cursed him for the hundred times.
You took a shower, made some mac n’ cheese, pretending he wasn’t there – which was pretty difficult –, and sat on the kitchen’s counter.
Billy stood up from the couch, undressing his suit and tie, coming to meet your recent showered body.
“Are you going to tell me what happened, or just gonna stay with that shitface of yours all the fucking day?”
You caught a deep breath and kept eating, not looking at him, trying to use the last drop of patience you had.
“Y/N, I’m talking to you!” He grabbed your chin, and you were already on the edge.
“You wanna know? Fine!” You threw the spoon inside the macaroni’s plate “Let’s talk about the asshole you were yesterday with me, when I was breaking down in a hospital, one step from lose someone I love so much, and made mine mind a fucking hell because, for you, your problems were bigger than my own.”
“Are you serious?” His face shinning red.
“Don’t you dare interrupt me!” You point a finger up to him. “You made me feel so bad about our talk in the hospital that I left Madison there, almost dying, to do the dirty work for you. Then you ignored my calls, proving to me that I did everything for nothing. Then you made me discovered that your dead friend is Frank fucking Castle!”
He crossed his arms.
“Are you finish?”
“And you didn’t get my calls because you were fucking another woman. She was the ‘other business’ that made you put me aside, like I was a piece of shit to you. Like I wasn’t, one more time, putting my priorities on second place to put yours on first, Billy.”
His eyes, from full of anger went to full of irony.
“When I chose you for this work, I chose you because I wouldn’t fall in love with me… But look what happened.”
“Are you serious?” You got down from the counter. “Are you so full of yourself that you truly believe I’m in love with you, Billy? Wake the fuck-up, Mr. Russo! I’ve been fucking man’s like you since I was eighteen years old, neither in my wildest dreams I would have been in love with an old man who make me feel like trash!”
“You didn’t feel like trash when I paid you a thousand of money, in pure cash, or when you came crawling in the middle of the night to my arms, didn’t you?”
His voice getting darker.
“This is about respect, Billy. Something that you proved to me last night. You didn’t have any for me!”
“No, Y/N, this isn’t the point! This is not about respect! You are paid for this, for Christ sake!”
You came back all over him.
“See, Billy? There it is! You think I need to go suck your friend's dick, while my life it’s fucking upside down, just because you pay me for it! What the fuck is happening here?”
“You work for me, Y/N!” He ran to you, bodies almost touching each other. “It’s my money who pays your bills, your food, the clothes you wear, the drugs you use, the water you drink. So, yeah…” He grabbed your face, crashing your head against the wall. “While I pay you, you are going to keep sucking my friend’s dick how many times I want, and need you to do it, you cunt!”
You didn’t think twice when your hand found the mac n’ cheese plate by your side, and threw it at him, making his perfect shirt and perfect hair all messed up.
“Fucking asshole!” You pushed him, while he was trying to process what you just did “Do not, ever again, try to take control of my life, you piece of shit!”
You leaned against the table, putting your head down, however never taking your eyes off Billy, and grabbing the wood as your knuckles were white.
Billy took place on the other side of the kitchen, running his fingers on his dirty hair, while all his muscles were tensing together. The man bent his forehead against the wall, knocking a little too hard. When he found the glass bottle near to his hand he sent it to the floor, turning it into little pieces.
The tension in the air made you think about every dark scenario, because you both pushed each other to the edge of any limit. The trust you had on Billy didn’t exist now, when he breathed out a hot air filled with anger and violence, and his brown eyes, turning his gaze back to you, became darker than ever seen before.
You were both lit matchsticks between a gasoline stream.
“I think it’s time for us to keep things professional.” You tried to end that tension. “We don’t know anymore how to deal with this.” You pointed to you both, meaning your relationship.
He was stuck on the same position and breath rhythm, making the present future unpredictable.
“I apologize for the mess I made.”
You gave him a dish towel, keeping a safe distance, but he didn’t accept.
His motionless bones killed every second he stayed there looking at you like a lion looks at the lamb. You couldn’t explain how months of pleasure and amazing moments turned out, in just two miserable days, in this ‘declare war’ between you two. The same hands who were tearing your clothes off days ago, were the same hands that pushed your head against the wall. The lips responsible for kissing your body were the one who called you ‘cunt’.
The one you always wanted the most, for the past few months, is now the man who insisted on telling you that he paid you whatever he wanted, no matter how you felt.
He wasn’t a good man to you anymore.
He wasn’t the man you kept trying to convince yourself you didn’t love.
“I think you should go, Billy.”
Billy didn’t hesitate when you asked, he walked slowly making his way to the door, but stopped by your side for a couple of seconds. You crossed your arms, to feel stronger than you could ever be compared tihim. Billy turned his head to look you upside down, like a last glance.
You felt every emotion of him over you, it was impossible to pretend you didn’t care when you just got back to orbit when he shouted the front door so hard that she opened again.
Your heart ached in pain, not understanding how it could hurt so much to watch Billy Russo leave you in pieces.

To be continued...

@arathina said:  "I told you, Hermes," her voice is sickly sweet, mocking that Meteion of ages past. Nothing about her remains that Hermes tried to give her. Nothing remains in Hermes either. "That I would have given you the most gentlest of deaths if you had shed your mortal flesh and come away with me," she almost looks sad, hurt, but it flickers into emptiness soon after. "But you chose to suffer. Prolonged it, even. Very foolish, Hermes." Her tone now drips of malice, small hands snapping up to grip Fandaniel's face. "You will suffer more than anyone else has suffered, you will be given a taste of what it's been like to suffer as your creation. Their cries will mirror your cries. Their despair will mirror your despair. This is your fate. Are you ready, Hermes?" / Hi sorry I felt very inspired you can totally ignore this if you want I'm sorry gjsjtbsbbt
FITTING THAT IT SHOULD END LIKE THIS -- Fandaniel before Meteion, both of them twisted amalgamations of who they once had been. There’s nothing for both of them anymore except emptiness / empty eyes empty soul / her hands hurt a little bit with the pressure that she’s applying to the sides of his skull, and Fandaniel can do little else but kneel in the presence of awe-inspiring despair. He’s smiling, of course. And he laughs / that’s empty, too. Fandaniel has wanted nothing more than the world to acknowledge the truth of his despair: Meteion might not know it, but her cruelty is a kindness to them both. Especially those little pangs he feels when she address him by a name that is no longer his own. Damn ancients and their insufferable desire to cling to that which does not exist, he thinks this, eye lidding, all nihility, no more need for theatrics anymore. Damn them all to hell.
“I may play the part of the fool, but I play it very well, you must admit that.”  His shoulders go limp, arms sagging further, the backs of his knuckles barely skimming the top of cool ground. It’s an uncomfortable position for him, on his knees but back locked straight, staring straight into Meteion’s fish-dead eyes. Good. Let it hurt. Let this be the last thing I feel.  “You hate Hermes. I do too. Do as you please: I have been ready to die for a very, very long time, Meteion.”  It’s been too long since he said that name and the last part of Hermes’s soul fractures within him.  “I think this is the part where Hermes would apologize for not being able to keep his promise.”  How did that go again? Upon your return I will gift you with........
Well, not that it matters.  “This play has gone on long enough and I tire of the encore. Let the curtain fall.”

A lifetime in 10 minutes (Caleb Guinn "The Gunslinger" x reader)
Summary: After being taken by this weird spider Entity, you find yourself in a lifetime of trials against ruthless killers. However, one of these killers....sees something in you that he thought he had lost.
Tags/Warning: Mentions of death, bleeding, usual DBD stuff. Reader doesn't have any mentions of pronouns or anything that can identify them, but if you do find it, please let me know.
A/N: This one had been in my drafts for months, back when I first got DBD - so you could say this was based on real gameplay events. I can't promise if there'll ever be a part 2 though. Hope y'all enjoy! Stay safe!
Tumblr media
You were fairly new to the Entities Realm, but you already know your way around things. You had met most killers, some more than others, and although you were sacrificed most of the time - it was worth it if it meant your fellow teammates made it out alive.
You can still remember, screaming and signalizing for the remaining survivors to leave you on the hook and escape. Some of them hated the fact that you were always the one taking one for the team - but also blamed the killer. They seemed to love fresh meat to corrupt and torture - give 'em the best welcoming package to the Entities Realm! As if stabbing and leaving you to bleed out, hanging on a hook was a welcome gift.
Yet, most survivors are but strange faces to you. Some don't even interact with you outside of trials, or even inside them. You don't blame them - this is not exactly a coffee shop to be making friends, but you hoped some of them to be more friendly at the very least. This is when Kate, Steve and Leon come in (sometimes David, or Nea), your little group of chaotic souls. Whenever you guys are on a match together, the killer must prepare for some chess playthrough. Most of the times Leon sacrifices himself to save you all, or you end up sneaking around the map to do gens, and that works.
But, you're someone who can't let things go easily, and your mind pesters around whenever something catches your attentions.
There was this one time, when you were way, way new to the Realm. You were in a match, one that ended too soon, since two of your teammates had gone down quickly, leaving you and Felix to fix 5 gens. It seemed impossible, and it was, as Felix was hunted down by Deathslinger - or what the survivors (afterwards) told you was called Caleb Quinn - and brought down to his knees. Then, you. But something happened - something that you were definitely unprepared for - the minute Caleb saw you, trembling, freshly caught from the real world like a fish, he stopped.
His larger figure looked down on you, completely exhausted with your hands on your knees, breathing hard, and giving up. You were expecting him to sacrifice you and get his four kills, but instead, Caleb put you over his shoulder and walked around - seemingly ignoring Felix, crawling his way to the exit gates, and a sight of relief escaped your throat. That relief was soon dead as the killer dropped you on the floor. A little yelp escaped you and you looked up at him, confusion splattered across your face. He had dropped you in front of the hook because- oh. The Hatch. That's what it's called right? Most of the survivors, while explaining the Realm to you, said they could still count on their fingers how many times they had found it.
Caleb left you and headed up to Felix. You hoped he would let him go as well, but you were on the brink of death, so you "jumped" in.
(...)
The camp was unusually quiet. Some of the survivors stared at you as you stepped out of the woods- apparently Felix wasn't as lucky as you were. After leaving you at the hatch, Caleb went back to kill him.
That strange trial soon faded out to the backs of your mind as more trials occured, and soon it was just a memory. None of the other killers showed you that kind of 'mercy', they just chased you around and eventually, off to the hook you go!
This particular trial had brought back that memory. You were in a match with Steve, Leon and Dwight, in the coldest of places, Ormond, and you didn't need your eyes to see - the killer was Deathslinger, his gunshots warned everybody of that. Your mind wandered off - would he show you the same mercy? No, don't be greedy. Forget about that.
You kept to yourself and sneaked around the map while cleasing totems - the survivors now call you the 'Totem Hunter' - and fixing gens. From the corners of your eyes, you could see Leon being chased by Caleb, then Steve, then Dwight got hooked twice and eventually sacrificed. The killer was being ruthless today, and you were getting nervous by the second. Despite having saved Steve from the hook, it didn't take long for the killer to be on his track.
That's when you stopped to think. Did you have one single face-to-face confrontation or chase with Deathslinger the entire match? There were a few times that you thought he had seen you, but he just walked past. You looked back to Steve, who was now on the hook again, but signalized for you to leave him alone and try to escape. You nodded relutanctly.
Yet you were too slow - and in the blink of an eye, Deathslinger had caught you and his chain was pulling you towards him. You tried to break it but again, you're not the best at reacting fast enough - and just like that, you were on the ground after a hard hit on the back. You coughed blood and waited for the worst. The killer pulled you over his shoulder and walked - and walked - and walked 'til he dropped you on the ground and looked around.
"Stay here. Don't move." With a harsh and dry voice, he ordered you to stay put, as if you could get anywhere far in your current state. You hadn't heard him speak before, so his voice surprised you - does this man ever drink water? You watched him move around - was he searching for the hatch, again?
Yet, you began to crawl away. No idea why, but you just did. Of course, he would find you quickly because of the large trail of blood behind you. Were you trying to die faster? At this point, you were too exhausted to process it.
After a while, Caleb came back and let out an annoyed huff after noticing that you tried to crawl away. He dropped you near the hatch again, as if this was going to be an occuring thing, and you saw his eyes - ignoring the phantasmagoria look, you saw what you thought was...nostalgia? As if he was looking at something - or someone - from times past. A living memory.
You fell inside the hatch before you could see anything else.
Even back at camp, you thought. What had happened? What look was that? And why was he ignoring you during trials and saving you for last?

Our little love part 2 - mafia/yandere au Drabble {angst + fluff}
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As always please let me know what you think, I am actually going to go to bed now my brain is angry with me for not sleeping.
It seemed the cycle was never ending, you fucking up and pissing them off, them punishing you by drowning you in their love, only letting you come up to breathe so you could swim in your own guilt and submit to them.
You wince as the victim to your latest fuck up gets another blow to his chest. Taehyung and Hobi held onto his arms as Jungkook and Jimin kick and punch the poor individual. You know not to speak, it’ll only make things worse. Temperament was a fickle thing in their lives, trust was everything, and you still had to build yours up again.
“Y/n help please,” Kai whimpers as you stood with your arms crossed looking away.
“Don’t fucking say her name,” Jungkook growled before punching your ex colleague in the face. You’re frowning, the need to beg them to stop was fighting for exit on the top of your tongue, but you bite it down and pray Kai doesn’t say another word. You know if you do as he asks they’d kill him. Your punishment was to watch silently.
Yoongi strolls up behind you, hands in his pockets before he rests his head on your shoulder, watching the display in front of you both.
“Nothing to say little love?” He whispers as your friend groans out in pain.
Please don’t kill him, you want to say, but you just shake your head in defeat. You want to believe they’re better than this, but the evidence of the contrary was never hidden from you. They showed you every side of them whether proud of it or not with bold eyes daring you to stop loving them, pushing your boundaries and morals waiting for you to snap. But the breaking point never came, you loved them, you shouldn’t and you knew it, but you did. You were completely and utterly theirs, yet still they treated you like you hadn’t seen the worst of them. Like you would run away the second you realised they were monsters, not that they would let you run far, only far enough to let you take a single breath before making you drown in them once again.
Yoongi wraps his arms around your waist, keeping an eye on your reactions. The asshole deserved it, not that they cared either way, he tried to take you away from them, that was enough.
Kai was your old partner before you took a very early retirement, what you didn’t know was that he continued the case you were working on before you left; the case of the seven men you now loved and the reason you quit said job. He had called you to meet up for old times sake and you, very naively in Yoongi’s mind, decided it was harmless. But if it was harmless why didn’t you say anything to the boys? You thought Kai didn’t know the reason you handed in your resignation, but he had been keeping an eye on you all before he realised you were the key to their downfall. He knew you harboured some feeling for him in the past and thought you’d reciprocate when he tried to flirt his way into getting his hands on the evidence you collected, he didnt know you burned it all. You lied to him and said you lost it, same difference anyway. This prompted plan b from him.
“Y/n they’re criminals,” he had said to you. “You’re a cop at heart you can’t love them.”
You floundered at his words when you realised he knew, and yet he still asked you to betray them.
“Kai I think I need to go...”
It was a mistake, you knew it then, but he followed you out onto the street and you hoped tonight the men you loved weren’t keeping an eye on you. Maybe naive was an understatement.
“Are they coercing you Y/n! Do they have something on you or are they threatening you?” He calls after you. “Because the Y/n I know would never love killers, what have they done to you?”
It was when he reached his hand out to grab your arm that your boyfriends decided to show themselves from the shadows. Which lead to the situation now, Kai beat up and bruised beyond recognition, and you forced to watch. He falls unconscious and they let him drop to the floor, you hate this side of them, it was cruel and cold but you’d never leave. They turn to face you now, their anger still present despite the last hour of releasing it onto your old partner. They don’t miss the way you’re shaking, the shallow breaths as you try and keep your tears to yourself. As much as you hate their violence, you hate their disappointment in you more.
——————————————————————————
You’re sitting in Joonie’s lap for what you call the debriefing of your punishment, this happened way too often in your opinion. You look down but he wasn’t having it today, tilting your head to look at him by your chin.
“Why did you get punished today little love?” He starts the same way as usual.
“I went out without telling you guys where I was going or who with,” you say while fiddling with your fingers out of nervous habit.
“And?” Hobi sits across from you in a chair, legs straddling the back and an elbow rested on top with his fist holding up his face. Hobi was hardest to pacify, he was ruthless and unforgiving and while that didn’t extend to you, you still had a hard time with his stubborn anger.
“I met up with Kai, and I let him touch me,” you’ve done this too many times before to not know how it worked. Kai’s ‘touch’ obviously meant nothing to you but for them it was the worst crime anyone could commit against their little love.
You remember the time you nearly tripped in the park and a guy steadied you politely, but you still had to hold Jungkook back from throwing hands.
“Kookie would you rather I fell and hurt myself?” No he hadn’t wanted that so he grumbled in agreement still seething but you cooled it down. “Instead of hitting him maybe you should thank him,” it was a joke but it made the youngest scoff.
“Baby girl why can’t you just be good?” Namjoon’s sigh brings you back to the present. “Why do you always have to test us like this?”
You didn’t mean to, you want to say it but the words are stuck below the sob in your throat. You actually whimper as his tone, bottom lip wobbling pathetically. He hadn’t even told you off properly, but you already felt like a mess as he bathed you in his disappointment. That was the common consequence of your actions and you hated it, you couldn’t do anything right.
——————————————————————————
“Jin do you need help with the food?” You ask your eldest boyfriend politely, he was frowning and you thought it was because today’s meal was too much for him to handle alone, his tone of voice made you realise it was because of you.
“No, I’m alright,” he doesn’t look at you as he speaks and you’re left gaping at him like a fish. Jin loved it when you cooked with him, it was your bonding time without the others, although Yoongi would join you from time to time. The others also tried but Jin wouldn’t let them anywhere near the kitchen, they hogged you enough anyway.
You feel your soul deflate, still standing there as he ignored you.
“Are you mad at me too?”
The way you said it made his heart twinge with guilt, but the others were right you wouldn’t learn and your first betrayal was still fresh on their minds. He sighs and you turn away, refusing to crying in front of them for the tenth time that day. What was wrong with you? Ever since that day where they found out who you really were you felt like you werent enough anymore, you tried so hard to make up for it all but you kept messing up. You weren’t like this before, but after seeing the hurt you put them through you were constantly on edge and second guessing yourself. You wish you could go back and stop them from ever finding out.
Jin hears the sniffle as you walk away and he can’t go through with it.
“Wait little love,” he calls for you. “I forgot to cut the onions, would you mind?”
You shake your head, you didn’t mind, but you didn’t trust your voice to answer for you. Youre grateful to Jin for giving you this task, it hides the fact you’re crying, but you know he doesn’t miss it.
——————————————————————————
Jimin and Taehyung were giving you narrowed stern gazes through dinner, it put you off your food which resulted in getting told off by Jin just after he branched out to you in the kitchen.
You felt alone, like the seven men you loved were against you and there was no one to blame but yourself.
“I’m sorry,” you say quietly before getting up and removing yourself from the dinner table and dining room, ignoring all of their stares. You decide maybe an early night is best, you could start again fresh tomorrow. You don’t get too far up the stairs before a hand pulls you back, you turn to see Jimin with Tae a few steps behind him.
You’re so used to seeing them laugh and play around that it feels like you’re looking at different people. Even during missions or gun fights, the youngest three were always joking their way through the bloodshed, keeping scores of who got the most headshots and other grotesque games. You remember the time Jimin and Tae called you during he middle of a shoot out, arguing with you and each other over who you loved more out of the two while you begged them to not get shot or killed.
“Why did you go see him Y/n?” Jimin asked, he wore the demeanour he used for enemies and it takes you back to that night.
“I... h-he said he wanted to see me to catch up,” you explain but you know it’ll fall on deaf ears.
“And you thought that was a good idea, to see your old cop buddy?” His tone makes you feel stupid, you weren’t stupid.
“He was my friend Jimin,” you say in disbelief, you know in the end it was a mistake but at the time it didn’t seem like the worst idea in the world.
“You’re ours,” Taehyung moved forward, towering over you even though he’s a step below you. His face is close to your own, eyes burning into yours as he looks disgusted at the words that left your mouth as if they’re still attached to you. “How do you think we felt when you went to see another detective? Do you have any idea what was going through our heads?”
“Tae I love you,” you lean away from him, searching his face for a hint of softness and love in his gaze, but there was only fire. “You know I wouldn’t, you all know I wouldn’t, I left that life for you why would I turn back to it?”
He stalks away from you without a word, Jimin close behind, giving you a final cold glance before leaving you alone. You thought your love could make them better but if anything you made their darkness worse.
——————————————————————————
Jungkook needed to vent, the only way he knew how was physically. Obviously it wasn’t the cleverest thing he’s done, taking rounds with the punching bag only to open up the cuts on his hand from beating the bastard earlier. He mutters a few curse words under his breath, why did you make matters worse? Maybe they were being harsh on you before today, finding any excuse to punish you a little, test your boundaries and see if you would run, but today they honestly feared that was what happened. They thought you chose to leave them and go back to the life you had before them, but they’d never let you go, they couldn’t let you go. Despite everything you loved them and they worshipped the ground you walked on. You were everything for them now, there’s be no point to any of them without you. Why didn’t you understand that?
He throws another punch to the bag, spreading his blood across them, it hurt like hell, but the thought of you running back to your old partner still played on all of their minds. He wanted to cry, he wanted to find you and beg you to never leave them, they’d be nothing without you.
There’s a knock on the door and he finds you on the other side, waiting for permission to come in. You never waited for permission, it makes him frown, maybe they were too harsh on you today. He could see you shuffling your weight, insecurity screaming through your eyes, you feared his rejection more than his anger.
He notices the first aid kit in your hand, you must’ve heard him. He doesn’t let the fluttering in his chest reach his face as he sits on the bench, waiting for you to come to him.
His gaze is expectant, daring you to cross the threshold and face him, you were no coward, you didn’t fear them the way others did, why were you behaving so meekly now? You force yourself to move and sit beside him, setting the kit down and pushing your hair back behind your ears. He doesn’t move his gaze away from you, even with the sweat and hair hanging in front of his face.
You carefully take a his hand into yours, sucking air between your teeth at how injured it was.
“I’m sorry you hurt yourself because of me,” you say, eyes on his bloodied knuckle as you press the ointment against the open wounds. “Are you sure you want me to stay, I keep hurting you...”
You try to sound like you’re joking, that you’re okay and the hurt isn’t weighing you down with your doubts. He frowns, they really did take it too far. He sets down the cotton wool from your grasp, taking both of hands into his before kissing each finger delicately without letting you look away.
“You’re perfect little love,” Jungkook says, reassuring you with no question in his voice. “We’re the ones who don’t deserve you, we’re mean and cruel but we’re never letting you go.”
You remember how loving they were before that night, maybe while they accepted the truth at face value they could never really forgive you in their hearts. Maybe that’s why they were being like this, they didn’t love you the same way anymore.
“Do you love me?” You had to know, the doubt was eating you alive.
He looks at you as if you’re insane, maybe you are, you don’t know anymore.
“Little love, don’t you see how much we love you?” He asks sincerely. “We would do anything for that love even if it made you hate us, you belong with us, and no one is going to take you away.”
You could see the crazed look in his face grow as he spoke, you believed him, the honestly worn like a heart on a sleeve. But his answer bought a wave clarity to your hazed vision, you made them like this, you made them worse, you had to leave.

An Angel and A Demon ~ Pyramid Head x Reader
Update 2: My laptop restarted when I was in the middle of writing this, and trust me when I say it, I am positively pissed off, and I want to end my days, that's how bad of a day this was.
And I didn't leave the house.
That says a lot about today...
Update 1: But, without further ado, I was half-way writing this story, and I received this ask, and let me tell you...
helloooo, i absolutely adored the fanfics you wrote about kazan and danny🥺 could i request one where pyramid head is just really whipped for and in love with the survivor! reader but he doesnt know how to announce it to them so he brings her random ,,gifts" in and outside the trials and protecting her bc well, im pretty sure he cant speak so he doesnt really have any other options on how to express his feelings??
I live for it.
Bless you for sending me this, it's the reason I'm still sane right now.
I love you, baby-cakes.
Update 3: I want to kill myself so bad. Just smash my head on a wall until it explodes or sth. I was so happy with how this imagine turned out, only fuck fucking tumblr to just fucking delete EVERYTHING just as I was about to put the last gif and hit POST NOW.
--------
Tumblr media
For the 5th time writing this :
FUCKMEDADDY - but this time - FUCKMYBRAINSOUTPLEASEIWANNADIE
Thanks.
-------
Hell - What was that place, anyway?
Some would describe it as an infinite ocean of flames and lava, where it's eternally melting-hot, and a bunch of hooved, horned, tailed red demons torture you with acid, with their red pitch forks, or boil you alive in their cauldron for soup. Or maybe you just get tortured by Stalin, who knows?
But never would have anyone thought that 'Hell' could look so...Normal. Well, normal in a very demolished, desolate, ravished way, but still...Normal, by human standards. Albeit, the never-ending loop of madness, anguish, agony and desperation of getting killed in different gruesome ways or fleeing for their lives and feeling a myriad of emotions pumping adrenaline through their veins so badly that their anxiety-meter skyrocketed to abnormal levels.
All this darkness, this hatred, this...Everything...It changed all the survivors. They became selfish, stubborn, rude, some even went as far as to sacrifice their fellow survivors in trials, just so they could survive. It was a complete mayhem that defied all kinds of reason, normality, morality or even ethics. Everyone became devoid of any laws that used to bind them to their humane sides, and now, you weren't sure if the killers were saner than the survivors or not.
But even in this abyss where you couldn't even see your hand in front of your very eyes, there was a little star - A beautiful angel radiating brightness and warmth, someone who was somehow able to guide everyone's straying souls with her benevolence.
In reality, she was merely a survivor, not the little lantern from an angler fish's head, but she treated everyone with such an untainted kindness...It was beautiful, and yet, unrequited for most parts. Everyone was still putting their own lives above all - And who could condemn them? - Perhaps their cowardice, for the girl preferred to save her fellow survivors as much as possible, even if that oftentimes assured her place on the hook, to be a sacrificial lamb for the Entity.
On the other hand, she rarely ended up on the hook - Most killers prefer to kill her themselves, instead of letting her become pray for the horrible Entity who tortured so many of them for refusing to cooperate - The Trapper, Evan MacMillan - He knew the best, with those hooks digging into his flesh, impossible to extract. He was the first to protect this girl. It wasn't much, but if he had to, he'd rather give her a swift, painless death, than seeing her without that serene, angelic smile on her face, as the Entity feeds on the last bits of her soul's beauty, the last parts of her humanity.
The other Killers were confused at the Trapper's actions, but little by little, they began to understand why this girl was so precious and special - And this domino effect hit Rin Yamaoka next, with Y/N stopping in the middle of a chase and taking off her jacket, just as Rin was about to butcher her with her katana, and she smiled, extending it to her. 'You must be cold' she said, realising that the Spirit was merely wearing a few bandages, not even her school uniform, or her kimono.
The ghost girl was shaken up by this, and told the others at the killer camp, but they just shrugged it off - Rin was a little girl who faced close to no kindness, they weren't surprised she was so taken aback by such a feat. That is, until Adiris, in a particularly terrible day, when everyone at the camp was staying away from her, as her profane censer wasn't able to cover the stench of rotting flesh - Y/N came over, taking out a small yet elegant glass bottle with pink liquid on it, spraying some on her - And now, The Plague smelled of roses and vanilla - 'You can come to me for perfume whenever you want, I always carry some with me!' she grinned at the Babylonian High Priestess, before leaving back to the survivor's camp site, leaving the ancient God symbol to stare with her mouth agape at the girl.
These words began to spread, and it was no surprise when the killers saw Susie clinging and begging her Legion friends to spare Y/N, for she was there to hug away her worries more than once, to tell her sweet words, to play with her hair and play the guitar whatever songs she wanted to hear, to get reminded of her home - She was so home sick that she freaked out, but now she was better, thanks to Y/N - 'I know you miss home, but sometimes, home is where your best friends are, and all three of them are here!' she tried to encourage the cute pink-haired girl who could only squeal and hug her new friend.
Even Ghostface wasn't exempt from falling to her charms, and they would often take silly selfies and mess around, making fun of the old horror movie tropes and doing lots of puns and pranks - So much that she even got his trust to be told about the Danny/Jed thing, and how he began his killer profession - 'You're a very talented photographer, Danny! You deserved all that recognition you got, both as a journalist, and as a killer!'
And very soon, Y/N found herself in the crushing arms of an overprotective Anna, humming her mother's lullaby together with walking through the forest, Y/N making flower crows for all the female killers at the camp site, and little by little, she somehow managed to worm her way under everyone's skins.
Y/N was the survivor with the highest survivability percentage, and maybe the Entity sometimes got pissed off, but at least she still got killed sometimes, so who cares? Well, that was soon to change as soon as a new Killer was added to this sick game - Pyramid Head, the terror of Silent Hill, as Cheryl, the new Survivor, called him - or The Executioner, as he was known now. He was ruthless, merciless, grotesque - He had his own criteria of killing, his own moral compass, ethics, conscience and understanding of the concept of life and death. Nothing that could compare to the visions of humans, clearly - Everything was gravitating around Divine Retribution and Justice, but the from the outside, he was nothing but a killing machine.
He would kill everyone and anyone that crosses his path, without fail.
Y/N felt like her fortune ended completely the second she found herself in the new, overly cramped map, with Pyramid Head as the killer - She couldn't help but run around like a spazzic meerkat, trying to find and fix as many generators as possible, without having to get face to face with the walking hazard...
Only to run past a stuck Pyramid Head.
Slowly backtracing her steps, she saw the mountain of a man with his metal pyramid stuck in the frames a low window which he tried to walk over. He was trashing like a raged bull trying to attack a matador, but it was clear he was getting nowhere with this.
"H-Hey, u-uhm...Need some help?" she asked in a soft, careful voice, almost like a meek cat trying to test the waters, but in return, he started groaning even louder from the wrath he wanted to unleash upon the whole world. "Okay, uhm...I think I saw a can of vaseline in one of the chests around. I'll go fetch it and I'll come back for you. Don't move." she said, only to then realise how horrible that sounded, considering the situation, and it only seemed to anger the killer. "...I'm sorry, ignore me, I'm an idiot." she slapped herself pretty harshly before bolting out of there trying to find the chest.
However, Y/N cursed herself for not having perfectly memorised the whole map by heart already, since she found the vaseline can after the 3rd chest, and then, it took quite a while to find the bloody window that got the killer stuck - And by the time she got there, she was dead tired. "Okay, I'm here, I found the vaseline! Let's try to get you out of here." Y/N muttered as she put her feet on the low window pane to get to his level. "If it's not too much trouble, could you please hold onto me? I can't balance myself with both hands occupied, and I'd rather not fall." she explained as she opened the vaseline can, only to shiver as she felt two big, strong hands getting a firm grip on her hips. It was almost...Endearing, were she not too busy trying to get the killer unstuck. She kept massaging the metal edge, trying to push and pull, also praying to whatever deity that existed in her human world that she had her tetanus shot done on time - Until finally, she was able to get hear a loud screech, like a pop, and the killer got unstuck, and in the process, he stumbled backwards, while Y/N fell down on her butt.
"Ouchie..." she muttered, rubbing her back and sides to take away the pain surging through her body. "Are you okay?" she asked, almost intuitively, without realising it at first, until she heart a low grunt that brought her back to reality. "O-Oh...! You have glass shards stuck in your side! And you're bleeding too! Hold up, let me help." she hurried to his side, while the killer merely stiffened, feeling her delicate, slender fingers tracing his body, while he heaved and slouched his shoulders from the repressed wrath. "It may sting a bit, and I'm really sorry, but I promise it will be better soon." her voice was so motherly and warm, which also resonated in her actions, as she gingerly took a water bottle and imbued some tissues with it, to wipe away the blood smearing down his skin as she extracted the glass shards, and then..."This is grandma's marigold ointment. It's really good, and it smells nice." she explained as she carefully smeared a thick layer of the yellow ointment on the biggest wounds, while the little ones were covered by smiley-flower patterned plasters. They were cute, and colourful, and they never failed to make her smile. "Okay, there we go, all better! I hope you'll feel better very soon!" her voice got a tiny bit more cheerful and upbeat.
It made the Killer think about a trillion things, as he stepped in front of her, towering over her like the Empire states building next to a smiling pomeranian. What was with this girl? Why did she help a killer? And why did he feel so...Warm inside? He could sense a foreign kind of luminosity, a naivite and innocence that he only witnessed in children and animals. This woman in front of him was untainted by the darkness and evil of the world.
It didn't matter how many hardships she's been through, or how much sadness she had to endure - Her soul remained as pure as any snowdrop, as the first snow of winter, as the fleece of a baby lamb who let out its first 'meeeeh' to its mamma sheep.
He couldn't allow this human to be maimed in any way - Not by the world, not by the Entity, and certainly not by him. - Screw the Entity, Pyramind Head kills by his own rules, and now, he was blessed to be faced with a human who bore no real hatred for her peers, or for the world, despite the horrible situation she was thrown into.
He didn't understand, obviously, especially as he remembered the myriad of abominations that lurked through Silent Hill, all of them created by the torment of humans - The very torment that distorted their own reality, which resulted in him needing to solve the purpose as The Executioner - Eradicating the world of all evil.
"Th-This sword is so heavy...H-How can you carry this around like that...?! Your muscles must be so strained and sore...Y-You really need a massage, I'm sure." she stuttered as she tried to lift the much taller and heavier sword from the ground, only for the brute to simply bend and pick it up with extreme ease, putting the girl to shame with her complete lack of strength. "Hehe...You're really strong. I'm embarrassed now." she chuckled softly, scratching the back of her neck.
Before she could leave or do anything else, Pyramid Head picked her up by the throat, careful not to hurt her or restrict her air intake - I mean, how else was he supposed to carry her so he wouldn't hurt her with his metal head or sword? - and it was pretty clear she didn't feel any malevolence from him, as she clinged on his forearm, trying to keep herself up, only to be dumped on top of the hatch, as the killer pointed towards it, so she would leave.
"O-Oh...! Thank you so much! You're really kind! I really appreciate this...I-I know it probably doesn't matter much to you, since you'll be doing this over and over again with all the survivors...But I really appreciate you for your kind gesture, and I appreciate you for being so nice with me. Thank you. Take care!" her dazzling smile lit the whole place up, but he couldn't talk, nor could he tell her how he should be the one thanking her for showing him that, despite the hundreds and thousands of years he had to roam the 'Earth' and execute the injust, miracles still existed.
As soon as she reached the survivor's camp, everyone cheered for her, asking how in the world could she have escaped the wrath of the butcher. "Oh, but he wasn't that bad. In fact, he's much more humane than I anticipated! I think he has a beautiful, blooming heart!" okay, she's lost it - the other survivors thought - but even so, she's always been a bit...Out of it, so who cares?
It took quite a while for the other three survivors to reach the camp, all bloody, in fact, like the new killer, who dragged himself with the same menace to the Killers' camp. "How the hell did you manage to survive?!" they yelled at her in utter shock, seeing that she got out of there unscratched. "Oh, you see...I found the hatch." she shrugged simply, not wanting to give away that the person who massacred those three was a soft one and he basically threw her down the hatch to her safety.
As she took a twig to roast a marshmallows, she noticed how Pyramid Head was standing much farther away from the rest of the killers - She knew that silent killers were bound to stay away from the more obnoxious one, remembering how Michael Myers almost killed Ghostface and The Legion at least a dozen times - But this time...He seemed kinda...Lonely? So Y/N took the matters into her own hands, roasted another marshmallow in another twig, and when it was done, she went to the killer's camp, calling out the lonely one's name - She has no idea why, but he actually followed her, pushing her further deep into the forest, until he was sure nobody was going to hear, see or interrupt them...
"Hey. You seemed pretty lonely out there...I thought you could use a friend. Thank you again for what you did at the trial...Here, this is a marshmallow. I don't think you've had many before...Cheryl told me of that horrible place you had to live in...So I hope this will make your day a bit better!" Y/N extended one of her hands towards him, so he could take the marshmallow - And a long, black tongue erupted from underneath the pyramid, snatching away the fluffy marshmallow and gulping it in one go.
What the hell was he turning into?
A towering man built of pure muscle, wrath and divine justice, with a pyramid representing the evil of humanity burdening his body, and a sword taller and heavier than the average human being constantly dragged in one of his hand...He now was a slave to a cute, innocent girl who was putting flower plasters on his minuscule wounds that would heal in a heartbeat regardless - He saved this girl who was now offering his these soft, squishy things that tasted overly sugarly, just like her upbeat and cheerful personality - If he could eat her, he was sure she would taste even sweeter than this - A sickish kind of sweet, that is.
She was indeed a beautiful angel in this tragic hell. But he didn't wait to snatch the second marshmallow either.
"Ah...! You liked it, didn't you? Well...Next time, I promise I'll give you more!" she grinned at him the same way a princess would to her chivalrous knight who saved her. The since he couldn't talk, silence took over them - It wasn't an uncomfortable one, per se, but it made it feel as if the conversation was over. "W-Well...I'll guess I'll see you around! Take care and I hope to see you again soon!" she waved cutely, trying to turn around back to her camp, only to feel a rough hand on her shoulder, turning her around and urging her to stop and wait for him and he went deep into the forest, leaving her alone and undefended by the potential malevolent forces of the forest.
When he returned, however, he stepped right in front of her, creating the perfect shade as he towered over her - Then he kneeled in front of her, so he would reach her eye sight, then he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and put a beautiful pink flower - As pink as the blush that started creeping on her face - He wanted to see her luminous face better, to highlight her dazzling smile and her glimmering eyes as the warm, silver light of the mother moon caressed her face.
Y/N felt her heart picking up the pace - It was beating so much faster than ever before - But this time, it wasn't out of fear or anything negative...It was something good. Something she never felt in her life, especially with her human acquaintances from back home. None was as chivalrous and gentle with her as this butcher of tormented souls - The bringer of justice, the merciless Executioner who was supposed to end the life of every living being that would cross his path.
It was insane how every Yin finds its Yang, even if that comes in the form of a little lamb of a small, frail girl, and a huge abomination of a brute man who knows nothing but death, bloodshed and carnage. It was truly crazy how opposites attract, and here she was, holding the killers large hands and gingerly putting them on her face, leaning into his touch - She felt safer now than ever in her life - Now, in the arms of an ancient killer.
An Angel and A Demon brought together in a perfect union.
As she leaned down, she touched the metal of the pyramid where she anticipated his forehead would be with her own forehead, and closing her eyes, she finally felt herself calming down. There was no need for words, actions spoke louder than anything, and she appreciated it...She appreciated him.
"Thank you." she whispered to him, knowing that yes, even though nobody else would hear it anyway, it was much more intimate than anything she ever experienced.
She was hooked.

Tumblr media
Every job required something from people, and your job was no different.
Being a spy was not a conventional profession, everyone knew that. You were expected to be on the move all the time, be a good liar, be a good fighter, be whatever the job told you to.
And most important of all; never show fear, which you were usually fine with. You had learned long ago how to keep your calm in times of crisis. You had even managed to keep your calm facade when your last mission required you to play Russian Roulette with a target in order to keep your cover.
But this? This was something else.
Bucky cleared his throat to stifle a laugh as he looked down at you.
“Is it just me or are you using me as a human shield against a peacock right now?”
Your eyes snapped up at his for a moment before you turned your gaze to the peacock again, taking a subtle step to Bucky’s right to keep him between you and the animal.
Coming to the zoo was his idea, and you thought it could be a fun experience. You had never been to a zoo before, and it would count as one of the old times dates, so you were almost giggly by the time you got there.
Right until now.
“I think peacocks don’t have souls.”
“Alright.” Bucky sipped his coffee while you tried to ignore the fear bubbling at the pit of your stomach, eyeing the peacock that walked around the area behind the fences.
“I’m serious,” you insisted “What if it attacks me?”
“It’s not going to attack you Y/N.”
“It could,” you said, “It looks like it wants to attack me.”
The peacock fanned out its feathers all of a sudden and let out a squawk, making you jump out of your skin.
“Fuck!” the curse left your lips and Bucky’s eyebrows rose, an amused grin pulling at his lips.
“Sorry!” you said quickly, “Sorry, I…I don’t trust peacocks.”
“You got mugged in a dark alley and got shot, and a bird is where you draw the line?”
Correction, you were once held at gunpoint by the Italian mafia and peacocks were still where you drew the line.
“That’s not a bird.”
“….Peacocks are birds.”
“No, that’s the devil looking like a bird,” you said, “In-in bird shape. Bird shaped demon.”
“Okay, how about we see some other less threatening animal?”
“Let me check—oh my God Bucky they have sharks, I love sharks!” you said, waving the brochure in his face and he pulled his brows together.
“Sharks fall under the less threatening animal category?”
“Of course they do!” you said, looking at the brochure before looking around, “I think the aquarium is over there, let’s go.”
You grabbed his hand to entwine your fingers with his as you both started walking towards the huge blue structure.
“So I feel like I shouldn’t ask because I know you can’t exactly tell me the details,” you said, “But you’re not going on another mission soon, are you? This week?”
“I don’t think so,” he said, “Why?”
“I’m kind of planning something.”
He tilted his head, “What are you planning?”
“Not a club, relax.” you said, “Although I find it quite ironic that you’re this unstoppable brave superhero with super strength who gets intimidated by dancing.”
“I’m not intimidated…” he grumbled under his breath, making you giggle.
“Whatever you say,” you sang, and reached the entrance of the huge building and you pulled your hand out of his.
“Excuse me sir, is the aquarium still open?” you asked the security guard by the door and a small smirk appeared on his lips.
“Yes but it is closing in ten minutes sweetheart.”
Sweetheart?
Jesus Christ….
You smiled politely at him, batting your lashes.
“Oh—“ you took a look at the sign, “I just want to see the killer shark and we’ll be out. In five minutes. Please?”
He eyed you up and down but seemed to snap out of it when Bucky cleared his throat behind you as if warning him, making the guy gawk between you two.
Even you had to admit you seemed like a quite unusual couple. You were wearing a short white sundress with ruffled sleeves and sweetheart neckline with your hair loose while Bucky looked as if he was there to kill someone, a complete opposite of you with his dark jeans and black leather jacket as well as leather gloves.
You didn’t even have to turn your head to know that he was glaring at the guard before the guy shifted his weight, then stepped aside.
“Enjoy.”
“Thank you!” you said, grabbing Bucky’s hand as you led him inside. He followed you without any objections whatsoever, in complete silence as the sight of blue filled your vision along with many fish swimming behind the glass.
“You don’t even see it, do you?” he asked softly and you pulled your brows together.
“Hm?”
“Does anyone ever say no to you?”
You approached the label by the glass, “You do.”
“Do I?”
“All the time,” you nodded, still reading the label but your head shot up when you felt him tug you by the hand. A giggle escaped from your lips as he turned you around so that you could look up at him, then wrapped his arm around you to scoop you up, making you squeal.
“Bucky!”
“All the time?”
“Put me down!” you said, your laughter echoing in the empty aquarium halls and he tilted his head.
“Not until you explain yourself,” he teased you, “All the time?”
“Sometimes, sometimes!” you said quickly, “Very rare times I might add!”
“Mm hm, I thought so.”
“If you drop me, I swear to God—“ you started but was cut off when he pulled you into a kiss, making you wrap your arms around his neck. He took a step with you still in his embrace and you gasped as you felt your back hit the thick glass, but every single protest you could think of seemed to disappear from your mind as you lost yourself in the kiss. You raked your fingernails over the nape of his neck, making his grip around you tighter-
Then someone coughed.
Bucky pulled back instantly and you turned your head to see another rather annoyed technician leaning on her hip, watching you with her brows raised.
“Aquarium is about to close,” she said, pointing at you, “Take it elsewhere.”
Bucky put you down and you tried to fix the skirt of your dress, trying to look presentable.
“Sorry!” you said as Bucky mumbled an apology beside you as well, and the technician shook her head and walked away, talking about how she wasn’t getting paid enough for this. You covered your face and let out a whine but Bucky chuckled, causing you to lower your hands to stare up at him.
“Why is this entertaining for you?” you exclaimed and he held your wrist, gently steering you to the exit.
“Come on.”
“We can never come here again, ever.” you insisted as you followed him outside. It didn’t escape your notice that he bumped his shoulder into the security guard’s quite hard, almost knocking him over on your way out and your jaw dropped.
“That was mean!”
“Nah, he had it coming. Are you hungry?”
“But you could get in trouble. Besides, he was a nice guy—“
“Uh huh, a nice guy who was ogling you.”
You pulled your brows together, pretending to be confused, “Oh I’m sure you misunderstood.”
He tilted his head and pulled you closer to wrap his arm around your waist, then brushed his lips against yours, making you sigh.
“Bucky, it was mean and you can’t just kiss me to distract me—”
“I can try,” he murmured to your lips before kissing you again and you looked up at him when he pulled back with a grin.
“Fine,” you admitted, still pouting. “I’m hungry. Starving actually, let’s eat something.”
                                                    ***
You were finding it harder and harder to convince yourself it was time to go home after every date with Bucky.
Scratch that, you were finding it harder and harder not to invite him upstairs.
But of course, you would have to report it back to the General and discuss the further strategies with him and for some reason, it felt more of a betrayal than this whole thing.
Surprisingly enough, it was something you wanted and not something you would will yourself to do because of the mission. There was no denying it, he was an attractive guy and you really liked spending time with him and you kept having dreams about him and whenever you were with him you had this lightness in your mind, as if you were a different person.
A better person, maybe.
You shook your head at your thoughts and left your apartment to knock on Keith’s door.
“It’s me, open up.”
You heard footsteps before he opened the door and a boyish smile pulled at his lips at the sight of milkshakes in your hand.
“Jesus, finally!”
“I made it at home, can’t promise it’s good,” you said as you walked past him into his apartment and stepped into the living room, “What are you watching?”
“James Bond,” he grinned at you, “Hey, have you ever tried milkshake with gin?”
“No?”
“Me neither, let’s try it.” He said, taking the big glasses from you to pour gin into them. You sat on the couch and took a look at the screen.
“How many times have you watched this again?”
“Like a hundred,” he handed you your glass and you took a sip.
“Not bad,” you commented, putting your feet up on the coffee table. He sat beside you, keeping his eyes on the screen.
“What did you do today?”
“Had a date.”
“With Barnes?”
“Yeah. At the zoo.”
“He took you to the zoo?” he asked and you nodded.
“Yeah.”
“And?”
“And peacocks are fucking scary,” you muttered, “And hey, we learned that Bucky is the jealous type.”
“The guy was dating people back at 40s, I could tell you that much myself.” He snorted, “Chloe says you went on a mission with Julian?”
You slipped a little on the couch, “He’s an asshole.”
“I know. Is he really that bad in bed?”
You shrugged your shoulders, “Nah as much as I hate to admit, he’s pretty good. Unfortunately.”
“So top or bottom?”
“He goes either way to be honest, that comment was more about me.”
“About you?”
“Yeah, I like to be on top.”
“Suddenly everything about you makes sense,” he murmured and you took another sip of your milkshake.
“Don’t try that with Barnes though, the guy is from 1940s. He’s probably used to missionary only, you don’t want to give him a heart attack,” he wiggled his brows, making you scoff.
“Shut up.”
“Chloe is right, maybe you should go full on vintage on that when the time comes.”
You turned to look at him.
“Speaking of Chloe,” you said, “Anything you would like to tell me?”
Keith’s grin faded slightly and he shifted his weight, “Like what?”
“Bringing her coffee, taking her out to the field…” you trailed off, “What gives, man? I thought we had a deal.”
“We never had a deal,” he defended himself, “You slammed me back during training years ago at the academy and told me not to even think about it when you saw me looking at her.”
“No,” you shook your head, “Five years ago, in Ireland. That undercover job, the one that almost got you killed? We made a deal.”
He swallowed thickly, looking down at the milkshake before taking a sip. “Y/N…”
“Keith, you can’t,” you insisted, “She deserves a normal life, a normal family and kids and a dog and stuff.”
“I know,” he ran a hand over his face, “I know.”
“Then?”
“I don’t know.”
“You’re a spy,” you said, “You said it yourself, spies die like flies.”
“Not all of them,” he said, “General is still alive. He has a family.”
“Yeah, one in a hundred,” you said, “Face it. That’s a very low possibility for us.”
“You don’t think you’ll get to grow old and have a family and all that?”
You pulled your brows together.
“No,” you said, “Of course not. I’m probably going to die in one of these missions.”
“You don’t believe that.”
“Keith, I can’t have any of those,” you said, “I can’t. I…it’s impossible.”
“Don’t you want to?”
“It doesn’t matter what I want,” you muttered, “I made my choice ages ago.”
“Y/N,” he sat up straighter, “Do you want to?”
With a very bad timing, your imagination went overdrive and a strange scene flashed before your eyes. You laughing in Bucky’s arms, watching two kids playing in the garden-
You shook your head, trying to shake off the thoughts.
“I could never have that,” you stated simply, “You might love Chloe and you might also be lucky enough to have her love you but…it’s not the same with me.”
“I’d say Barnes loves you.”
A bitter smile pulled at your lips and you bit inside your cheek, taking another sip of your milkshake.
“He loves someone who doesn’t exist,” you managed to croak out, “He loves my cover. He could never love me.”
                                                           ***
Spending the night at Keith’s and drowning your sorrows in gin and milkshake meant that you would have a killer hangover the next day. Unlike Keith, you didn’t have the luxury to sleep until the noon, seeing that you had a cover job to keep so for the whole day until noon, you walked around like a zombie.
Coffee helped though. Just a little.
Thankfully it was a slow day at the shop. After serving a couple of people, you had nothing to do other than seriously considering sticking your head in the freezer to get rid of the hangover.
“Long night?” Tara asked as she walked past you to put the straws into the cup and you nodded, groaning.
“Remind me not to drink, ever.”
“I make that promise to myself every Monday, does not seem to work.”
You chuckled, “Have you ever tried to mix gin into milkshakes?”
“No?”
“Don’t,” you shook your head as you helped her to move an empty milkshake container into the kitchen. “It’s a terrible idea and I’m experiencing the consequences of that mistake right now.”
“That sounds like a fun night though.”
“Fun night, terrible morning,” you let out a laugh as you walked out of the kitchen but as soon as you did, your eyes caught the sight of the man in the shop. Your smile was wiped off your face as the familiar anger filled your system.
Jesus Christ, this day sucks.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” you asked and Julian had the audacity to shoot you a grin.
“Whoa cute outfit,” he said, eyeing you up and down, “Holy shit I didn’t even know I was into this whole thing, I’m having an epiphany.”
You looked over your shoulder to see if Tara was still in the kitchen, then turned to Julian.
“What are you doing here?”
“I was craving milkshakes,” he stated, “Hey, would you recommend Lavender Macaron?”
“Get the fuck out of here.”
“I think I’m gonna go with Lavender Macaron, makes me think of France,” he said, “Fun times.”
“Fun for you maybe.”
He shot you a look, “Come on Y/N, we didn’t leave the honeymoon suite for two days. That was the greatest-“ he lowered his voice, “Mission I’ve ever had.”
“You’re putting this entire operation in—“ you started but stopped talking as soon as Tara walked out of the kitchen. Julian raised his brows for a moment before smiling at her and you went under the counter to grab his arm.
“Y/N, is everything okay?”
“Just peachy,” you said as you dragged him out of the shop, and he heaved a sigh, following you.
“No I’m serious…” he said with a chuckle as soon as you both stepped outside, then motioned at the uniform, “This is something else.”
“Why are you here?”
“I heard that it was good, I did not think it was this good.”
“I’m seriously two seconds away from punching you.”
“How come you never dressed up like this for me when we were dating?”
“What the fuck are you doing here?” you insisted and he shrugged his shoulders.
“I was around.”
“And I’m supposed to believe that?”
“Believe whatever you want,” he said, “Your shop has good rating, although I’m beginning to believe it has less to do with milkshakes and more about the waitresses.”
“Julian I swear to God—“ you started but you were cut off when someone cleared his throat, making both you and Julian turn your heads. Your stomach dropped as soon as you saw Bucky watching you two with a frown and you withdrew your hand from Julian’s arm.
“Bucky,” you breathed out, “Um-hi.”
“Hi,” he said without taking his eyes off Julian, and you could almost see the wheels turning in his head.
He was trying to decide whether he was a threat to you.
“I didn’t…I didn’t know you were coming.”
“I figured I could drop by,” he said, crossing his arms, “What’s going on?”
Fuck.
Fuck, you had no idea how to turn this around. Thankfully neither of you had said anything about the mission, so it was more than likely that Bucky just knew you knew each other, but other than that, your cover wasn’t blown.
“Nothing! Nothing at all, he’s just—“ you stammered, trying to come up with an explanation, “He’s um—“
“Oh come on Y/N, don’t be one of those secretive people,” Julian said, “You hate secrets. You’re Bucky, right? I heard about you.”
Bucky just raised his brows, his glare on him unwavering but even if it was quite chilling, Julian was a trained assassin just like you were, so he was used to it. Instead he curled his lips, looking between you before offering him his hand.
“I’m Julian,” he introduced himself, shooting you a grin as if you two shared an inside joke “The evil ex-boyfriend who’s gonna take her from you.”

Chapter Two
Inej returned with three glasses of whiskey. Kaz was sat opposite you at his desk, crow-headed cane secured in one of his leather gloved hands. Inej put the glasses on the desk, before picking up and handing one to you.
“Thank you,” You said politely. Despite the few weeks you’d had to acquaint yourself with the types of people that Ketterdam housed, Inej seemed different. She was a fighter, you could see that clearly, but she also seemed... soulful. Like she had a heart, bursting to the brim with kindness and care, despite the Wraith she had to become living in a place such as the Barrel.
“So, what, the Darkling took you in?” Kaz asked, impatience all over his voice. He grabbed his glass sternly, tapping the sides with his covered fingers.
“This is only the beginning of this story,” You replied.
“Well, get to it,” He said quickly.
“I told you it was a long story, Mr. Brekker. It’ll probably take us most of the night. Can your business wait that long?” You raised a brow at him knowingly. There were men such as Kaz in the Little Palace—impatient, to the point, needing answers immediately.
“Listen, Kaz,” Inej spoke up. “I have a feeling we’ve only skimmed the tip of the iceberg,”
You regarded Inej, taking in her petite frame, the glint of the knives on her body; you counted them quickly, efficiently, until you’d added up fourteen in total. Knives for days, and you’d wager a bet that she knew how to use each one to its full advantage, as if they were an extension of her body.
Kaz breathed out shallowly, shooting Inej a stare. She accepted it gracefully, not even flinching from the obvious tension that had begun to float between them.
“Your sister,” Kaz spoke, his eyes still on Inej, until he finally turned to you once more. He nodded once, sternly and quickly, but you got the message loud and clear—I’m sorry. You swallowed uncomfortably, thankful for the small comfort the tumbler of whiskey gave you as you gripped it in your hands.
“Right, where were we?”
The Little Palace, 1 Year Ago
You woke in a bright room, unrecognisable from where you’d been before—in the snow, the ice, shrouded in a darkness that the Darkling seemed to gravitate towards himself involuntarily. You looked at your hands as they shook; dirt was under your nails, dotted with dried and muddied blood—your sister was still on your very skin.
That’s when you shot up, your heartrate exploding suddenly. She wasn’t here, her body wasn’t on the floor at your feet, nor in the bed next to you. You were trapped inside four walls of creams and golds, with décor that you’d only dreamed of ever seeing.
It was unmistakable—you were in the Little Palace, the one place you’d begged the Darkling not to take you to. He’d done it anyway, after you passed out from your extreme exhaustion.
Now you started to panic, as you looked out of the grand windows of the room. A courtyard was down below, empty of people and carriages. It was still early morning by the sun placement; the palace was quiet. The Grisha lay sleeping in their rooms, the General was in his own—
You were alone.
And saints, you weren’t going to stick around. Not with your sister’s body still lying in the Fjerdan snow, waiting for wolves to find her.
You jumped out of bed, ignoring the way your muscles were screaming at you to return to the pristine sheets. Your feet were bare, and one glance at the floor showed you your shoes had been taken. What for, you didn’t know. Maybe they thought that would be enough to prevent you running.
You almost laughed, imagining the spoilt Grisha deciding to remove your boots—She won’t run with bare feet. She won’t. Little did they know, you’d run with bare feet before. And you’d easily do it again.
You tiptoed to the bedroom door, making as little noise as possible. At the last second, before your fingers curled around the handle, you decided to drop to the floor. You lay on your stomach, shoving your skull to the floor and shutting one eye—there were two feet shaped shadows under the door.
One guard, stood on watch.
This complicated things just a tad, but you were already hatching a plan by the time you stood up again. You gave yourself a few moments to stretch your poor limbs, feeling the adrenaline course through your blood and spur you forward. Without hesitation, you curled your fingers around the handle to your room, and yanked it open—
The guard whipped his hatted head around to you immediately, but he wasn’t quick enough to get into a defensive stance. You grabbed him by the collar, pulling him aggressively into your room, before you twisted him round and placed him in a headlock.
The two of you flopped to the floor, but that allowed you to secure his body to the ground with your legs, wrapping them around his torso so he couldn’t wind his way out of your grip. That’s when you tugged—hard against his windpipe.
He struggled and flailed like a freshly caught fish, but you knew it wouldn’t be long until he passed out and went jelloid. You kept your grip on him tightly, keeping him glued to the ground and his neck secure between your chest and forearm, being pulled taut by your other arm.
Eventually, he stopped fighting. His eyes fluttered closed slowly, his body slipped into a state of sleep.
You left him on the bedroom floor then, opting not to take his uniform in case he woke up while you did, and left the room. You clicked the door shut behind you, before beginning a tiptoed journey through the winding corridors of the Little Palace.
Saints, if you had the time, I’m sure you’d have appreciated the décor. It was splendid; all bright whites and creams with accents of shining gold. There were golden curls on blank white walls, intricate designs of Grisha imprinted in the wallpaper and grandiose windows that let the light flood inside.
You felt that, perhaps, the décor made up for the fact this was effectively an army base. The Grisha brought here were trained non-stop. They couldn’t leave, they didn’t have a choice. You’d heard horror stories of this place, back when you used to be safe in Novyi Zem.
“Zowa adawe,” Your neighbour had said. She was an old woman, living a quiet life on her farm. You called her Nana.
She was stern, but often times soft spoken, with her glorious Zemeni skin and gorgeous personality. When you’d found asylum after an unfortunate incident in Kerch, you and your sister had settled in her barn; parentless. She was kind, she ran the farm and let out the barn next door.
She became a grandmother figure immediately, up until the day she died.
Zowa adawe—Grisha fight. Grisha had to fight if they were sent to the Little Palace. There was no getting out it. Nana had said that your powers were beautiful, but she’d always said it with a hint of distain on her lips, as if you were running out of time.
You turned corridor after corridor, praying that no one would see you creeping around this early in the morning. All you had to do was get outside, and then you’d be able to run—run like Hell. Not stopping to look back or even worry if General Kirigan was on your tail. You’d outrun him, even if it killed you.
When you heard voices and footsteps, you flushed yourself against the corridor wall. You didn’t know where they were coming from, or who they were, but with the rags you were wearing the mud dotted over your skin, they’d know you weren’t supposed to be wandering around.
You held your breath, praying that they’d leave, that you’d get out of this fortress unscathed; and then you started moving again. The next corner you turned welcomed you into a large landing. A spiral staircase was before you to your left, only a few metres ahead of you. You lunged quickly, ducking down as not to be seen through the large windows out to the acres of land that surrounded the palace.
“You,” You stopped, swivelling round as your eyes laid upon two Grisha—one in a purple Kefta and one in white. The lady in white had yelled, but neither got into a defensive stance as you faltered backwards, constantly creeping back to the staircase as your heart threatened to bombard out of your chest. The lady in white shot her gaze down the staircase quickly, while the man in purple next to her all but looked confused.
That’s when her gaze tracked back to you once more, her jaw clenched. “Kirigan!” She boomed. You raised your hands quickly.
“Please—just—,” You pleaded in a whisper.
“Kirigan!” She yelled once more, and as the bash of doors sounded from down the stairs, you knew he’d heard loud and clear. The smack of boots ascended the spiral staircase, until the fresh face of General Kirigan hit your own. He slowed on the stairs, overseeing the commotion, before his expression softened.
He raised his hands calmly, widening his eyes in some kind of silent language, meant just for you.
“Now, just calm down,” He said calmly. You shot your gaze from the two Grisha at the end of the corridor, back to the General, before taking in your surroundings. You were blocked in from both ways; there were no doorways on your side of the grand landing.
But, there was an empty corridor, dotted with closed doors, and at the end—
A window.
It was as if Kirigan could sense the cogs in your brain whirring. As soon as your eyes lay on the window at the end of the free corridor, he began bounding up the steps. “No!” He yelled, reaching out for the flowing fabric of your blouse, but you were already running.
You pumped your arms and moved your legs as quickly as you could, storming towards the window at full pelt. Your heart was in your throat, your limbs screaming for relief, but all you could think of was your sister—alone, cold, left in the snow in a land that had never been kind to her.
That’s when you jumped, flying with all of the momentum you’d charged up from the run up, crashing straight through the window with all of your force. You ignored the sting of shattered glass as it ripped through your clothes and skin, the pain of the wood panelling breaking apart as your body slammed through the window—
And then you were falling, falling, falling—but you never hit the ground.
You brought your hands together with your eyes clamped shut, mustering your remaining energy into creating a cushion of wind to land on. It circled beneath you, spiralling around your body and stopping your free fall comfortably, until you balled your fists and the winds dissipated.
You landed in a large courtyard outside, shaking shards of glass out of your hair as you stood. You dared to look back at the mess you’d made, staring up at the broken window—
Kirigan stood above you, gazing down at you eerily.
You thought he’d be more frantic at the fact you’d just smashed through a window and were still standing. You thought he’d be rushing to get you back inside, but he wasn’t. He was calm and collected, looking at you as if he’d already worked you out completely. And that was the scariest part of this entire ordeal.
You broke into a run, not looking back as you pumped forward. You could feel his stare on your back the entire time, but you chose to ignore it—even if it all felt too easy.
Before you could make it to the tree line, you started to wane. Your limbs felt like lead, your heart felt like a bowling ball in your chest, and all of a sudden it was far too difficult to suck air into your lungs.
You collapsed to your knees, clutching at your chest as you glanced around the clearing. Before your vision began to blur, the unmistakable colour of red hit you. Red and black, with hands dancing before them. A Grisha—a Heartrender.
You struggled against the obvious magic that he was using upon you to slow your heartrate, to stop your muscles working properly. That’s when a blob of black strolled up beside the Grisha, placing his arm upon his Heartrender.
“Enough, Ivan,” Kirigan said, but you could hardly hear him.
“Heartrender...” You stuttered out, as Kirigan began to approach you slowly. “Playing dirty,” You said, as the rest of you collapsed to the floor. The sky above you circled sickeningly, your vision seeing double. Kirigan stepped above you, his face distorted as you fought against the power of Ivan.
“You’ll soon learn that I’m not the enemy here,” He said softly, as he descended to one knee. He slipped his arms beneath you, before rising. You were cradled in his arms, to incapacitated to fight against him.
“Darkling,” You muttered. You would have added more, but even talking was too much to handle.
General Kirigan carried you back inside, as the doors of the palace were bolted shut by his Heartrender. There was nothing you could do—you were powerless, and you were stuck.
You didn’t fall asleep, but everything felt like a dream. The walk back inside, being carried to a room that wasn’t the one you awoke in, feeling the strength of Kirigan’s arms holding you up without as much as a grunt of exertion.
Kirigan gently dropped you into a large armchair, letting your head fall back against plush leather. He straightened himself, going to sit in a chair opposite you. He picked up a small bell from the table between you, ringing it once, before putting it back down and leaning back in his own chair.
You blinked away the double vision, trying to gain back your composure.
“It’ll ease. Ivan slowed your heart into a death state,” Kirigan said calmly. You were getting annoyed at the way his voice filled the air around you, floated into your ears smoothly. You didn’t want to listen. “That was quite a show,”
You think you scoffed, or maybe you tried too, because the corners of Kirigan’s mouth upturned ever so slightly.
“I told you not to bring me here,” Your words were slurred, almost as if you were drunk. You fought against the want to drift into a sleep, but he was right—it was easing with every passing minute.
“You never told me why,” He replied. You forced yourself to look at him, as your eyes adjusted. There weren’t two of him anymore; just one man. One man who’d dragged you here against your will, leaving your sister alone on Fjerdan soil.
“You left my sister there to rot,” You said, stronger this time. “How could you think I’d stay here when you left her?” Kirigan’s expression didn’t change, but he did look around when someone entered the room, carrying a pot of tea with two cups and saucers. The tray was placed on the table silently, before the attendant left immediately, clicking the door shut.
Kirigan poured two cups of tea, pushing one set towards you and taking one for himself. He didn’t take a sip yet.
“What do you have against the Little Palace?” He asked. You couldn’t help your scowl from devouring your entire face.
“The King hoards Grisha here like he owns them, like they owe him something. It’s a prison disguised as a lavish life. It’s no worse than the whore houses in Ketterdam,” You replied bluntly.
“Yet you were trying to get to Ravka, weren’t you?” Kirigan was quick to the mark, leaving nothing unturned.
“For my sister,” You said, clenching your jaw. “She’d be safe with the First Army,”
“And you?”
You finally looked in his eyes. They were dark, piercing your very skin, but the way they reflected the light gave them the illusion of warmth. You didn’t want to ever admit that the Darkling was a warm individual, not from the stories of his bloodline that you were taught from a young age.
“I was going to lie and stay with her. My abilities have never offered me much,” You said honestly, but you didn’t know why you were being truthful with this man. You swallowed uncomfortably, telling yourself to stop being so open.
“You killed those druskelle. You protected yourself,” He said. He was right, but you felt sick to your stomach. You saved yourself, but you couldn’t save her. You didn’t. “Your power is unrefined, unpredictable, but strong. I’ve never seen a Squaller summon a storm such as what we saw from the Ravkan border. It’s what lead us to you,”
The General finally took a sip of his tea, daintily rising the cup to his lips, before setting it down slowly on the saucer. You glanced at your own cup, wanting to take a sip too, but you couldn’t make yourself reach for it; not yet.
“We train Grisha here for the King, you’re right,” He continued, when you kept your mouth clamped shut. “But we also allow them to refine their abilities and hone their craft. This is a safe place for Grisha, when there are many out there who would try and take advantage of such power,”
“I never asked for this power,” You said quickly.
“No. But you can control it,” He replied, stronger this time. He had a smile on his face, leaning slightly forward, as if he truly wanted you to know why the Little Palace was good. “Wouldn’t you feel better? If you could truly harness your power? Bend it to your exact will?”
You swallowed once, frowning as you looked in his eyes. You wanted to say that you didn’t trust him—and never would. You wanted to splash scolding tea across his treacherous face, but you did neither.
“I’d feel better if I’d buried my sister, before you gave me a life sentence,”
Kirigan stood then, turning his back to you to stand before the window behind him. His hands were together behind his back, his chin high and shoulders broad. He wore all black, but you’d expect nothing different from a man who went by the Darkling.
He thought in depth, calmly, quietly, while you debated having some of your tea. It was steaming and warm and calling out to you. You knew it wasn’t poisoned because he’d already taken a sip, but you were still wary.
“How about a proposal?” He said then, turning back to look at you. You scoffed.
“I’d rather marry a horse than you,” You let out. It was an obvious joke, but you hadn’t expected the words to spill from your lips. Kirigan raised his brows, almost boyishly, taking you by surprise.
“We have fine horses here, I’m sure we could find you a great husband,” He hit back with. Saints forbid, he’d joked back. You hated to admit it, but your shoulders relaxed then, as a small giggle burst from within your gut. He came to sit opposite you once more, taking another sip of tea.
This time, you mimicked him. You picked up your own cup, bringing it to your lips and sipping heartily. Warm tea cascaded down your throat, bringing more strength back to your muscles.
“You train here,” Kirigan began. “You train here and learn to fully control your powerful Squaller abilities, with the help of myself,” You frowned slightly as he mentioned himself, but nevertheless let him continue. “And then, when you’re ready, I’ll... let you slip out undetected,”
That’s when you choked on your tea. You placed the cup back down on the saucer messily, spilling tea on his table.
“You’d let me out?” You stuttered. “No. No fucking way would you let that happen. I know the stories, General. The stoic man, damaged by his bloodline and his image,” As you spoke, Kirigan’s jaw tensed. “You wouldn’t let a Grisha slip out of your ranks,”
He cleared his throat slightly, straightening his shoulders. “I will, if it means you’ll let me train you first,”
You furrowed your brows at him, the cogs in your brain whirring. “Why are you so interested in my abilities? I’m no Sun Summoner, General. I can’t destroy the Fold—,”
“This isn’t about the Fold,” He interrupted you. “This is about you,” He said it with such surety that it almost took your breath away. You were silent, pondering what to say from your rapidly firing thoughts. “Squallers are never as powerful as you have proven to be,” He leaned forward on the dark wood table, coming in close to you. You were too frozen in place to move, too stubborn to back away from him. “I want to see what else you can do, with the right training,”
You stood abruptly, after he’d finished talking. You ignored the disastrous way you looked, with shards of glass still in your hair and small scratches all over your bare skin. Your feet were bad; you could tell just from the way your soles felt; but you pushed through.
“This is a deal,” You said strongly. “A proper deal—a vow,”
Kirigan stood then, too, strolling round until he was face to face with you.
“I’m a man of my word,” He said plainly, before he stuck out a strong hand. You stared at his wrist, his fingers, before slipping your own hand into his. You both shook on it, cementing the deal that he’d offered. If you felt he was lying at any moment, you wouldn’t hesitate to break out of the Little Palace and slip through his fingers.
“Fine,” You said, pulling your hand from his grasp. He looked down at you with an air of knowledge, but his eyes showed you something else; a softness, excitement, sadness. It was so intense that you simply had to look away.
“Your sister,” He said then, causing you to flinch as you scowled back at him. “Men have already been sent to the border to collect her,” He said it so plainly that you were sure he was making it up, but your heart panged as he kept talking. “They’ll bring her here in two days’ time. She will have a proper burial,”
You could have cried, if your body wasn’t on fire. You would have screamed and sobbed if you weren’t stood in front of someone such as General Kirigan. In this world, crying was always a weakness. Emotions were meant to be felt in private. Pain was only to be felt behind closed doors. You wouldn’t give up that ingrained way of life so quickly, as much as you wanted to collapse on the floor when you thought of your sister.
You tried to find the words to say something in response to General Kirigan, but nothing came out. All you could muster was a curt nod, to which he reciprocated with his own.
“Rest. Eat. Drink. You have today to recuperate,” He said sternly.
“Before the Grisha here eat me alive,” You whispered. Kirigan let out the smallest huff.
“Show them your power, and they’ll leave you be,” He said, before his hand curled around your forearm tightly. You gasped at his touch, expecting it to be cold, dark, hostile—but he was just a man. He was just... a fucking man.
With eyes and a nose and a mouth. With shining hair and stubble and broad shoulders. With hips that dipped to his thighs and knees that met his calves.
It was scary, to say the least. You knew what this man was capable of. You knew what he could do, but instead he promised you freedom. He promised to train you, to bury your sister, to keep you safe here while he could.
But that didn’t mean you trusted him. That didn’t mean you weren’t wary—
If only you’d stayed this on edge, this untrusting. Maybe things would have been different.

Asahi accidentally tells you his feelings in front of the entire team (Part 2)
Continued from Part 1! I would suggest reading it first before proceeding!
Asahi accidently blurted out the L-word as Y/N was rushing out of the club room. He does not know if Y/N heard him. But the entire Karasuno VBC did. Is the gentle giant going to get through this without crying dying making a mess?
Asahi x gn! reader || Sfw Genre: Comedy and fluff at the end Word Count: 1.5k+
Tumblr media
The entire Karasuno team is looking at Asahi in stunned silence. They all heard him say he loves you.
However (fortunately or unfortunately for him), you did not really hear what he said. The entire club’s eyes are glued to the club room’s open windows as they watch you sprint away, eager to make it in time for your movie.
Asahi’s eyes are open wide and he keeps opening and closing his mouth but no words are coming out, he is simply gaping like a fish and making incomprehensible noises. His face is so red and hot that one could make their entire breakfast on it.
Asahi: I-I-I d-didn’t m-mean t-t-to s- NOYA?! TANAKA?! WHY ARE YOU CRYING?!?!
Tumblr media
Noya: *in between sobs* Asahi-san, you have grown up so fast!
Tanaka: *loud noises that seem to indicate agreement with Noya* *violent sobbing*
Suga intervened: Oi, you two, stop it! Your cries might catch Y/N’s attention.
Meanwhile, Hinata has run over and climbed on to the club room’s window and is now shouting live updates of your whereabouts.
Tumblr media
“Uwaaaah Asahi-san, I do not think Y/N-san heard you. I can see them running towards the gates.”
Kageyama kicks Hinata, “BOKE, don’t shout their name from the open window, they might hear you, you BOKE!”
“BAKA, Kageyama, you don’t have to kick me, I am only trying to help!”
At this point, Tanaka and Noya are rolling on the floor and crying violently, Kageyama and Hinata are trying to kill each other while Suga and Daichi try to separate them. Asahi is staring at the floor, wishing for a hole to open up and swallow him. The rest of the team is just standing around in silence, trying to absorb the mess that has happened in the last 30 seconds.
So, you know, a usual day at the Karasuno Volleyball Club.
This is what is going on in Asahi’s mind right now:
“It’s certainly a relief that Y/N did not hear me. Or did they?!?!? and they just pretended to ignore me so they wouldn’t have to answer?!?!?! After all, it has only been 4 months, I do not expect them to love me so soon. What if this scares them off?? If they really did not hear me, that would have been great if the entire team hadn’t heard me say it. And knowing these people, I am sure Y/N will know about this before tomorrow. WHAT IF THEY HEARD ME AND THEY FREAKED OUT AND RAN OFF AND WILL NEVER COME BACK? -” and on and on it went.
"Uh-Oh”
Suga’s words snap Asahi out of his overthinking trance (good timing, I should say, because at this point he is seriously considering shifting to India and becoming a monk). He looks up to see Suga looking out the window. He pales.
//~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What have you been doing since you ran out?
“Shit, I’m going to be late if I walk there. I will have to run if I want to make it in time. The theatre is not that far, though, so it shouldn’t be a problem.”
These are the thoughts going through your head as you sprint away from the club room. As you are running, your mind wanders back to Asahi (as it usually does). You have a tendency to replay every moment with him in your mind and you are thinking back to the conversation that had just taken place. Asahi had looked so cute when you were handing him his hairband. You couldn’t wait to see him tonight and you had told him that as you had run out of the room. And it seems so had he-
And then it registers.
Wait-
//~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A very loud -WHAT?! resounded through the room. It was your voice. And even though it came from the outside, it felt like the entire room shuddered. The sound sent chills through Asahi’s spine and he started quaking in his shoes.
Tumblr media
Suga: Uh Asahi, you have probably already realized this but Y/N seems to be running back in this directio-
The club room’s door slams open with such force that it makes everyone jump. You stand at the doorway, panting loudly, with the most incredulous expression on your face.
Asahi is dead now. I am sorry to say but his soul has left his body and it will not be returning. Let’s all come together to pray for his peaceful departure.
Tumblr media
You look at Asahi. His face has drained entirely of its colour and he looks ready to pass out. You can almost see steam coming out of his ears as he stares at you in absolute horror.
“D-did you j-just say you love me?” you manage to gasp out your question as you try to steady your breathing.
Asahi is dead, Y/N, dead people do not speak.
He is shaking as you walk towards him. The expressions on his and teammates’ faces have already answered your question.
Even though Asahi is terrified out of his mind, he is trying to read your expression. How he chooses to answer right now is probably going to make or break your relationship.
In between all the confusion on your face, he sees a hint of something else in your eyes: Hope.
You stop in front of him. You ask him the same question again, but much more calmly this time now that your breathing has somewhat normalized.
As he continues to try to read your expression, he realizes you are not mad at him. Instead, there is a slight earnestness in you. He calms down a bit.
“Y-yes.” he says, barely meeting your eyes.
“Do you really mean it? Or was it just a slip of your tongue?” you ask, hopeful, but also bracing yourself for the worst. What’s worse is that this is all happening in front of PEOPLE and all of their eyes are on you both. This is bound to make Asahi want to nope out of here. But the damage is already done and all you can do right now is wait for him to answer.
“I- I mean it (your heart soars for a second) but- (aaaand there it comes crashing back down).”
Asahi’s eyes are back to looking at the floor now and his fists are clenched.
“but this...this is not how I wanted to tell you. I wanted to make it special for you. But I fucked this up too.”
You did not know what you were expecting him to say but this was certainly not it. Your eyes widen in surprise.
“And I- I understand if you do not feel the same way. Or if you want to b-break up with m-me.”
His voice cracks at the last sentence and even though he’s looking down, it’s not hard to figure out that he is holding back tears.
“Special for me?” you say as you close the distance between you and him. You use your hands to cup his face and tilt his head up so that he is looking at you. His eyes are full of tears that threaten to fall at any second.
“The only thing I need for it to be special for me is YOU. I do not care about where you said it, or how you said it. I just care that you said it. That’s the most special thing you could have done for me. You are the only thing I want and need. Everything else is just secondary.”
You wipe away a tear that has fallen from his eyes.
“However, to make things even: I, L/N Y/N, standing here at Karasuno High School, in the Volleyball Club Room, surrounded by the weirdest audience ever, (why are Tanaka and Noya hugging and crying?? Why does Hinata seem to be in the middle of pantsing Kageyama??), would like to tell you, Azumane Asahi, that I love you too.” You kiss Asahi on his forehead, rubbing comforting circles on his back and give him a big smile. “Was that special enough for you?”
“Yes!” he exclaims, as he throws his arms around you and pulls you in for a short but passionate kiss (something he has never done in public before). His tears are now freely falling but he smiles the biggest smile at you and everything he wants to say to you, all the love and gratitude he has for you, you can see in his eyes. “I love you” he whispers as he loosens his hold on you.
“I love you too. Can’t wait to see you tonight.”
You are horribly late for your movie but you don’t care anymore. However, you do know it is important for your boyfriend (WHO LOVES YOU BACK!!) to focus on volleyball. So, you use the movie to excuse yourself and you finally walk out of the room, with the biggest smile on your face. You cannot help but laugh as his teammates almost blow the roof off the place with all their yelling and cheering for him as soon as you leave.
Suffice it to say that even though you did “see” the movie, you still have no idea what it was about.
FIN
HOPE YOU ENJOYED
Oh my god I finished it.

Deceivers Ch. 11 - Revenge

Chapter 10 - Parting
Chapter 12 - Daytrip (nsfw)

Disclaimer! tw: y/n is having a panic attack
As someone who experienced panic attacks before, I realised that writing one invested me a lot emotionally. If a detailed description of a panic attack triggers you, you might want to skip that part. Also, everyone experiences them differently and coping mechanism differ as well. Just remember that all of these experiences are valid and that you are loved! :)
---
"Kid!"
You didn't question the urge to run into his arms, but you didn't expect him to catch you either. But he did, and as his non-metallic arm pulled you into his chest, you felt something you hadn't felt in a very long time: safety.
You clawed at his fur coat, muffling your sobs with the soft fabric.
"What did he do to you?", he whispered into your ear lowly, while his angry eyes never left Deku, who was scrambling around on the floor with his trousers undone.
"G-get off my ship, p-pirate scum", he stuttered, visibly scared of the huge pirate that just sent his door flying.
"I will", Kid snarled at him, "but you're joining us."
And with that he extended his metal arm by adding more and more random metal, grabbing Deku's throat. He tried to get away, but to no avail. Kid strengthened his grip and he let out a gargling sound, kicking his legs in the air.
The redhead spun Deku around and hurled him right through the empty doorframe towards his ship. Killer was waiting on the other side and knew exactly what to do. He caught the flying man (who was looking awfully pale) and slammed him down on the deck. You heard a faint scream in the distance, right after Deku's body hit the ship.
After making sure that Deku couldn't run away, Kid looked down at you, wiping away your tears with his rough fingers. He had let go of all the metal, but his eyes were still angry as he took in as much of your face as possible.
"Tell me what happened", he whispered in a commanding tone, and you sniffled before you spoke.
"W-we fought, and he said awful things to me, and then he tried to rape me and he... he had my parents killed. K-kid, he's responsible for all this. He killed my parents!"
You started sobbing desperately again and your knees felt weak. They gave in and you sunk towards the floor, but Kid picked you up. He pressed your trembling body against his and held you safely while he jumped aboard his own ship, the cold air cooling your tear-stained face.
Deku was trembling as well, but for different reasons. Killer was towering over him with his arms crossed and the rest of the crew was shooting him intense, blood-lusting glares. No one in this world would want to swap with him.
Kid landed and gently placed you on the deck. You slumped down to your knees immediately, staring into the distance with blurry eyes. The sun was setting already, painting the sky in beautiful red and orange hues. It would have been a wonderful start into a new life, but Deku took all that from you. Your body felt weak and lifeless, your arms hanging down your sides.
Kid kneeled down in front of your trembling frame and looked at Deku, who was sitting a few metres away from you. He was whimpering pathetically, looking for a possibility to flee, as if Killer would let him.
"Wire, take some men and ransack the ship. Then sink it", Kid commanded.
"Roger, Captain", Wire's calm voice answered, and he and most of the guys entered Deku's ship.
Then his face turned back to you. He gingerly took your jaw in his big hand and brushed your cheek with his thumb, just like he did in that one night.
"Look at me", his rough voice told you, and you obeyed.
Seeing your puffy eyes and your tear-stained face awakened something deep inside of him, and he wanted to destroy whatever was causing you this kind of pain. You looked at him like he was the only one who could make it all better, and he understood, his face absolutely serious.
"Angel. I want to hear it from you."
His amber eyes bored into yours. They were full of rage, but not because of you.
"Do you want me to kill him?"
Killing was wrong. No matter what kinds of horrible things someone had done, killing wasn't the answer. That's what a previous version of you would have said. But looking at Deku, you only saw a monster. A deceiving monster that had dared to take your life into his hands. You wanted to hurt him like he hurt you, he didn't deserve forgiveness.
Kid knew exactly that you couldn't do it yourself, so he had asked you if you wanted him to do it for you. And you really wanted it. There was not even a hint of compassion that you could spare for this man.
You looked at him, his eyes were pleading with you. Kid had asked you to make a decision. You could easily show mercy and say no. Deku mumbled apologies directed at you, rambling about how he shouldn't have overreacted and that he would treat you well as a mistress.
With empty eyes and the calmest expression on your face, you took in the satisfying sight of Deku shaking with fear.
"Yes."
It was merely a whisper, but everyone on the ship was silent. The only sound to be heard was Deku's pathetic whimpering. You didn't take your eyes off him, not even when Kid stood up slowly, revealing his full height again. The setting sun stretched his shadow, and it swallowed Deku's body whole.
Kid slipped off his coat and put it over your sunken shoulders without saying a word.
His shadow was coming closer to Deku with every heavy step he took, and he anxiously scrambled away from him, only to bump into Killer's legs. He was cornered between the two men, and he yelped in fear when Kid took the shiny knife out of his bandolier.
The knife fell, and Deku probably thought that Kid had dropped it by accident, because his eyes widened, and he opened his mouth when the knife didn't hit the ground. It hovered under his chin instead, the blade forcing him to look up at Kid.
"W-what kind of magic is that?", Deku screeched.
"It's a devil's fruit you moron", Killer mumbled and shook his head in dismay.
"I'm just making sure that you know who's the boss around here", Kid growled and pushed the blade a little further into Deku's skin, drawing a thin line of blood.
"I really wonder what she saw in you", he scoffed.
"P-please I will do anything... y-you can have the 15 million b-berry! You can have e-everything, just let me live!", Deku pleaded, trying to grab Kid's trousers. He looked up at him with doe eyes, in a futile attempt to gain his pity.
Kid bared his teeth and kicked off Deku's hands as if his futility was contagious, while an array of swords gathered behind his tall figure. They hovered in the air, framing Kid to make him look even more dangerous.
"You're not even worth listening to. Just by looking at your stupid face I can feel the wretchedness trying to rub off on me", Kid growled.
His signature smirk was back, and with a flick of his hand, all the sword's blades turned towards Deku. They made a clunking sound that filled the silent air and seeing their reflection in your glassy eyes gave Kid the final push.
With another flick of his hand, each and every of the swords sped towards Deku's trembling body, swallowing his cries for mercy.
He screamed in pain and desperately tried to protect his body, but there were just too many blades impaling him. They pinned him to the ground in an upright position, covering him in his own blood. His breathing became more and more shallow, and he looked at you with pain-filled eyes.
You watched the sight like in a trance. You felt inner peace for a split second, but then
nothing.
Nothing at all. It was gruesome to look at, but it didn't bother you the slightest.
With wheezing breaths, Deku's life ended in front of your eyes and your face didn't show any signs of remorse.
"Feed him to the fish", Kid growled and then blocked the space between you and Deku's body so you couldn't see him anymore.
You snapped out of your trance and realised what had just happened. It was good that you didn't see your ex-fiancé's dead body anymore because your stone-cold facade might have faltered.
Kid kneeled down in front of you again and you finally looked at his face. His frown was back, but his eyes were almost too soft for someone who just murdered a man without hesitation.
"Thank you", you mumbled flatly, but he didn't say anything.
"I'm going to take a bath", you added instead, sounding absent. Your body was there, but you felt like your soul was just hovering over it. The bath didn't actually matter, you just wanted to get away.
You tried to get up, but your legs were still too shaky. Kid was watching you for a few seconds, huffing at the fact that you couldn't take even a single step without tumbling over.
Suddenly, Kid flung you over his shoulders without a warning, ignoring your shriek.
He just scoffed and carried you to the cabin's bathroom, placing you in the empty bathtub. You raised an eyebrow at him when he sat down on the toilet, making no move to leave the room.
"I'm really thankful that you took revenge on my fiancé for me, but that doesn't mean you can watch me bath... naked...", you said quietly.
"There's no fiancé anymore. You're single and I saw your tits already", he smirked.
Although you couldn't deny that, it wasn't the best time to point it out and no excuse to creep on you in the bath.
"That's not the point."
"Then leave on your underwear, but I'm talking to you right here and now", he demanded with a growl, and you were too worn out to discuss and you knew that he wasn't really the patient type anyways.
Your gut didn't give you any warning signals either, so you just rolled your eyes and slipped of your shirt, shoes, and socks. The bra that Charlos had given you didn't cover anything and didn't give you any hold, so you had gotten rid of it immediately. Once your training had started, you made your own bra out of bandages from the infirmary, so this was what you were wearing at the moment.
Not ideal, but better than being naked.
You let the water run into the bathtub under Kid's watchful eyes, and when it was half full and after you put a nice foamy soap into it, you realised that you could have taken a bath later, after Kid was done talking to you. But it was too late for that now.
You watched the foam floating around on the surface for a second, thinking about the events of today with a frown.
"Where do you think you're going next?"
His question caught you of guard and you blinked some tears away that you couldn't really prevent from building up.
"I don't know. I need to see my brother."
What happened with Deku today absolutely destroyed your chance to be reunited with Tenmon and it became painfully clear to you right now.
"And where do you think you're staying until you find him?"
"I don't know", you said again.
He was quiet for a second and then displayed his signature smirk.
"If I promise you to help you find your brother, you will stay on the Victoria Punk as our doctor."
You shot him a sudden look and raised an eyebrow. Why did he offer you so much help out of the blue? Suspicion rose in you, and you narrowed your eyes.
He just scoffed in response.
"That's it, sweetheart. There's no catch. I will protect you until you find him, and you'll protect my crew in return."
You thought about his offer. If there was no catch, you could only win. And you had to be honest with yourself, there was no way you would even last a day in the New World on your own.
He held out his hand and you looked at it before you slowly put yours in his. Your hand was tiny compared to his, and you studied all the calluses and the roughness on them. It was obvious that he had worked hard with these hands, and it just added to the fascination that you already felt for him.
Suddenly, as soon as his hand enclosed yours, he pulled you towards him harshly. The water splashed against the edges of the tub and Kid's grip was strong around your hand. You let out a startled yelp and to your dismay, you felt your face redden.
His face was so close to yours now. It had become a familiar feeling to you, just like the smell of expensive rum, mint, and metal. He licked his lips and pulled you even closer. Your tits were pressed against his hard chest, and he placed his mouth next to your ear.
"We're gonna be a great team", he purred into your ear lowly, his breath tickling your neck.
You prayed that he didn't see that you had goosebumps all over your body. Your face felt so hot that you were sure you looked like a tomato and a tingling feeling spread from your chest to your stomach, to your crotch, and even into your thighs.
What the fuck is that?
Who were you kidding, you weren't stupid and not as innocent as Deku and your parents had wanted you to be. Just because you never experienced lust, didn't mean you wouldn't recognise the feeling if it ever came. You were sure that this was it, but why today and why with Kid?
He leaned back and your heart told you to pull him back, but the rational part of your brain interfered, so you just sat in the tub dumbfounded.
His smirk didn't falter, and something told you that he knew what an effect he just had on you. How embarrassing, you thought and slowly turned around, facing the wall.
He chuckled and finally left the room, and once the door was closed you took of the makeshift bra and let yourself slip under the water surface, mentally cursing yourself and Kid until you had to come up for air.
You stayed in the bathtub for as long as you could justify, to avoid Kid. You hoped that he was either not in his room, or already fast asleep. You dried yourself extra slowly and scolded yourself for not having asked Killer for another shirt.
You tried to put on the white button-down but as soon as the material touched your skin you had memories of Deku leaning over you and pinning you down flashing through your mind. You shuddered and bile rose up in your throat.
You looked at the shirt and felt new anger and sorrow in your heart. With gritted teeth and a frown, you pulled on the sleeves as hard as you could and ripped the shirts to shreds. Seeing the heap of white cotton pieces gave you a small feeling of victory. You couldn't let a dead Deku control you like that.
After putting the bandages around your chest again, you took a deep breath and slowly opened the door to the bedroom.
Kid's back was turned towards the room, and he was breathing steadily, probably meaning that he was sleeping. As quiet as possible, you made your way to his desk. There must have been a place where he stored his clothes, but the desk was really the only option in this room. Actually, thinking about it, you had never seen him with a shirt on.
You carefully pulled out one of the bigger drawers and to your surprise, you saw a few neatly folded shirts in there. All black.
I bet Killer folded these...
You grabbed the first one and couldn't resist taking it up to your face. It smelled as you expected: Fresh laundry and metal. It smelled comfortable.
You shook your head rapidly and slipped the shirt over your head. You looked absolutely lost in it, but it would do for sleeping.
On tiptoes, you neared the bed and slipped under the covers. You didn't feel the need to roll one of the blankets into a sausage anymore, and you looked at the ceiling wondering why. So many thoughts were ghosting around in your head...
Why do I trust him all of a sudden?
Just because he killed someone who did me wrong?
He didn't just do me wrong though, he literally had my parents killed.
But still, why would Kid kill him? There's no personal gain for him.
Why is he so keen on helping me lately?
What's in it for him?
Does he still hate me? He's still complicated, but it feels different.
He could have done unspeakable things to me the last week, but he didn't.
Don't even get me started on the other night... or today.
How he touched me. Like I'm precious.
I haven't felt precious in such a long time.
And why do I get butterflies when he touches me?
Why the fuck did I feel lust when he touched me tonight?
Oh my God, what on earth is wrong with me?
Your eyes widened almost comically when another thought hit you.
Do I like him?
You covered your face with your hands and tried not to scream into the quiet room. You gave yourself a small slap, but you couldn't deny that Kid was... interesting. He definitely was, but that didn't mean that you liked him.
Yes. Yes, that's the point. He's interesting, but that's it. It's just a very stressful time I'm going through. Of course I would feel fascinated by someone like him.
You sighed in content. You found an explanation that was fitting your narrative.
The mattress shifted abruptly, and your heart jumped, thinking that Kid was awake. But he had just turned around and his face seemed peaceful, the kind of peaceful look that one could only have while sleeping.
You couldn't turn your face away without studying his. You took in the sight of his sharp features and his fluffy, red hair. It fell on his forehead because it wasn't held up by his goggles, making him look a little younger. It was refreshing to see him without his furrowed brows.
You couldn't resist the urge to take a strand of his hair into your hand. You never touched it before, and it was just as soft as it looked.
It was also the first time that you could look at him without him noticing. There was no smirk, no angry eyes or frown.
He didn't look like a pirate anymore, just like a young man. He almost looked vulnerable, and you realised that he must have seen a lot. You wondered about his motivations to become a pirate and if all the things he had experienced left marks on him, inside and outside.
Like you said, he was fascinating.
You watched him breathing calmly, the blanket raising and lowering in a steady pace. It hit you like a brick.
"You saved me so many times", you whispered so quietly that he couldn't wake up from it.
You were right when you thought that killing Deku had no personal gain for him. He could have taken his ship and his belongings anyways, but he made sure that you decided Deku's fate and then acted accordingly.
It was a twisted sense of justice, but you had to admit that you didn't care.
It had been another hard day that left you absolutely drained. The knowledge about the circumstances of your parent's death scooched in between the thoughts about Kid and became prevalent.
You never got to say goodbye and they died without knowing what had happened to you. They never got the chance to see Deku's real face. You regretted not telling them about the conversation in the garden back then, maybe everything would be okay right now. Deku's words were ringing in your ears.
You chose to disrespect me that night, so I made you pay.
Yes, your parents wouldn't have backed out of the marriage deal. Deku had them wrapped around his fingers. He had buttered them up completely to make sure that anything you would say about him would fall on deaf ears.
You tried to steady your breathing when you felt hot tears forming in the corners of your eyes. The insufferable feeling of guilt washed over your whole body. Throughout your childhood you had learned how to speak to a future husband, and if you hadn't decided to throw all that courtesy stuff overboard at some point, your parents would still be alive. Of course, your life with Deku would have been horrible, but at least your family could have been happy.
Screw you for becoming your own person with your own wishes and morals.
Deep down you knew that it wasn't your fault, but the guilt felt so strong. It was crushing you, causing you to question every decision you ever made.
Suddenly, your heartbeat was picking up. It happened so rapidly that you were scared it would rip your chest open, so you clutched at your shirt and pressed your hand down. But feeling your speeding heartbeat like this made it even worse. It made your chest hurt like someone had punched you. It tightened and it was becoming gradually harder to breathe, a lump of suppressed tears forming in your throat. Your body felt hot, and you couldn't move, only shake. Your eyes darted around frantically and breathing felt more like choking. You wanted to get up, get fresh air or a glass of water to calm you down, but you were losing control over your body. Wheezing breaths mixed with the sound of quiet sobbing, while your vision blurred. Every cell in your body was screaming for help. You tried to get at least some air into your lungs, but it felt like they had shrivelled up.
You weren't in the right headspace to think anything of Kid opening his eyes suddenly, now looking at your shaking body while you still fought for air, your sobbing and whimpering filling the room. He let out a low growl and moved his hand towards you.
You tensed up immediately but surprisingly, his touch didn't scare you at all. As soon as he saw that you didn't flinch, he grabbed the small of your back and pulled you into his chest, enclosing your trembling body with both of his arms.
"Breathe with me", was all he said.
Your chest was flush against his and you could feel how he inhaled and exhaled slowly, in a steady pace. His heartbeat was calm, and you tried to concentrate on his breathing, mentally counting the intervals between each breath.
After a few more ragged breaths, your heartbeat synchronised with his and you followed his breathing pattern. You were still shaking a little, but the scariest part was overcome. Soon, the sobbing died down as well.
With each inhale and exhale you got calmer, and soon you felt like you were in control of your own body again. Hesitantly, you wrapped your arms around Kid's body as a silent thank you.
He stiffened but didn't push you away. He expected you to let go at some point, but you didn't. You didn't want to. You experienced the same feeling as earlier this evening when he held you after saving you from Deku. It was a comfortable feeling of absolute safety, like nothing in this world could do you any harm.
You wanted more of this feeling, so you kicked off your blanket and went under his instead, entangling your legs with his. He let out a breath he had been holding and snuck his other arm around your head to place his hand on it, brushing your hair with his thumb.
There was no empty space between the two of you, but at this very moment this was exactly what you needed. You forgot about all the pain and guilt in his embrace and enjoyed the comfortable feeling of warmth and safety.
It didn't take him long to fall asleep again, and you followed soon after.
Memories of the last week rushed through your mind and you realised that being here wasn't all that bad.
