ok, right, let me express just how much I hate power scalers, ok.

I once saw someone say that "Grandpa" Max Tennison, from Ben 10, had faster than light reaction because he blocked a laser beam.

and like... yeah, OK, chief is defiantly exceptional for his age. beyond the alien tech he has access too, hes certainly limber, but like... y'all do know that laser beams in fiction don't work like the ones in real life, right? like just because IRL laser beams move at the speed of light doesn't mean this fictional ones do. like you do know that the idea that this NOMINALLY HUMAN old ass man can move faster than light is ridiculous, right?

but this is it with power scaling and people who subscribe to it. everything has to have definitive numbers drawn from the real world, even if that makes no real sense. because if it doesn't have numbers, how will we know if they beat goku?

but like... its fiction. nothing has definitive numbers. most of it is stuff that is thrown out to make the heroes look or feel cool, "realism" be damned. please read what was intended by the scene rather than the over-thought numbers you have conjured says is true.

Grandpa max cannot react faster than light. hes fast, sure, and strong, but only within the limits of a mostly normal human being within this world.

Something, I personally think, some Power Scalers fail to recognize, when they pitch Zoro and Sanji against each other, is that Sanji's Story has never been about being 'the strongest'.

I often see them going on and on about how Zoro could easily beat Sanji and, while not easily, yeah. I agree. Zoro is stronger than Sanji and Zoro could probably beat him.

[even Sanji thinks so, otherwise he wouldn't have asked Zoro that one favor!]

But these power Scalers often try to make it appear as if that is somehow a flaw in Sanji's character when it is not.

Sanji's Story at its core is about healing.

Zoro's is about protection.

You can have one without the other but it won't do you much good.

rereading orv closely is a very rewarding experience because you can see how genuinely tightly the narrative threads are woven throughout this very long action-heavy fantasy novel. even the arcs I think have a little less substance than others still further the themes and foreshadow plot in interesting ways and even the most cliche power fantasy moments still have shockingly complex things to say about the world and characters. nearly every scene, even the most rote battle scenes, has a lot of depth if you poke at it! its incredible. also its still really really fucking funny

How do you even possibly vote KH2 here. How is it in second place. The only good parts of KH2 are the prologue and Sora meeting Riku again. Everything else is genuinely bad. Especially in Disney worlds. KH1, CoM, and BBS beat it by lightyears because they have actual stories going on. KH2 only exists as an excuse to make reaction commands happen

nobara vs. sakura: nobara bodies sakura, kugisaki is crazy in a way sakura cannot compete with. nobara will fight dirty and to the death i don't think sakura could handle it. nobara would tear her down mentally too in that evil gay way she does, it will end in tears one way or another

megumi vs. sasuke: megumi loses becuase he doesn't try, sasuke has everything to lose (prideful ass) megumi doesn't give a shit about this man and will not put in the effort for a fair fight. in a fair fight i lean sasuke anyway, no real reason just vibes

yuuji vs. naruto: yuuji is like a little god man or smthn? technically so is naru but that's w/ mystical magical family shit. itadori's body is like fucking innately insane strength wise, naruto would fight tooth and nail but itadori built like a freak and that twink does stand a chance

gojo vs. kakashi: i could not tell you, i lean gojo cuz i'm biased... but like... bro. tbh i don't think they'd fight. that's too much sad homosexual energy... theyd fuck for sure

Ok so jjk makes no sense but what do you think about it??? does it tickle your interest?? does nanami seem like a sad wet blanket man??

Umm my review…. mixed? Many of the arcs start with intrigue but most of them dont really pay off. The action might look cool animated but, as choreographed in the manga, is often confusing. If the manga were GOOD at these two things I think it could compensate for over explaining a magic system which makes no sense, but it’s averaging “mediocre” for both so I’m starting to get annoyed. Like I think Nobara fighting with straw dolls and nails is cool in concept, but the iffy choreography and explanations mean I often don’t know WTF she’s doing.

I like the first and second year Tokyo students but many of the characters just seem mean spirited in an unfun way. I do like the body horror of the curses and that the plot involves the main character committing cannibalism. Also I like that the main character is possessed by an evil ghost. Give me more of that.
