Peace of Mind in Print: A Review of The Home Doctor
Living in a remote area, far from a hospital, has always made me prioritize self-reliance, especially when it comes to healthcare. That's why I decided to invest in "The Home Doctor" – a comprehensive medical guide specifically designed for home use. After a few months of browsing its pages and familiarizing myself with its contents, I can confidently say it's become a valuable addition to my household preparedness kit.
Tumblr media
Empowering Knowledge for Everyday Ailments
"The Home Doctor" isn't a replacement for professional medical care. It is, however, a fantastic resource for handling common ailments and injuries at home. The book covers a wide range of topics, from treating cuts and scrapes to managing headaches, fevers, and even allergies. The clear instructions and illustrations make it easy to understand even complex medical procedures, giving me the confidence to handle minor emergencies until professional help arrives.
Beyond Band-Aids: Preparing for the Unexpected
What truly impressed me was the book's focus on preparedness for unforeseen circumstances. "The Home Doctor" includes sections on dealing with natural disasters, power outages, and even biological threats. It provides practical advice on creating a first-aid kit, stocking essential supplies, and even performing basic medical procedures in the absence of a doctor. This knowledge empowers me to feel more prepared for whatever situation may arise.
A User-Friendly Format for Easy Reference
The printed format of "The Home Doctor" is a major plus for me. Unlike online resources that require internet access, this book is always available, even during power outages. The clear layout, logical organization, and comprehensive index make it easy to find the information I need quickly, especially during stressful situations.
Focus on Natural Remedies and Self-Care
While "The Home Doctor" doesn't shy away from conventional medicine, it also emphasizes the importance of natural remedies and preventative self-care. The book includes information on using herbs, essential oils, and other natural remedies for various ailments. This holistic approach aligns perfectly with my belief in natural health practices.
Investing in Peace of Mind
"The Home Doctor" is more than just a medical guide; it's an investment in peace of mind. Knowing that I have access to this wealth of information allows me to feel more prepared and in control of my family's health, especially in situations where immediate medical attention might not be readily available.
Overall, "The Home Doctor" is a valuable resource for anyone looking to be more proactive about their health and well-being. It's a comprehensive guide that empowers you with knowledge and practical skills, all in a user-friendly format.

Prompt 160
Constantine might have made a slight mistake. Just an itty bitty one. Okay maybe not an itty bitty one, but it’s not like he usually deals with Realms beings! No one deals with Realms beings if they can help it, and never willingly!
So maybe he had been a little more drunk than usual, and maybe a tiny bit more desperate. But he’s pretty sure he didn’t do any hanky-panky with anyone. So he’s very confused as to how the fuck, he apparently has not just one, but three Realms-cores?!
Seriously, what the actual fuck, who looked at him of all people and decided, yeah, he looks like he could be a dad?! Mom!? Whatever the fuck it is.
What the fuck is he supposed to do in this situation!?

Can't wait for Missa to come home to a deranged sugar baby trying to kidnap his husband, an adopted rockstar son, a new granddaughter to take care of, Quackity trying to live in their backyard to steal said granddaughter and the entirety of their lawn being turned into a giant ass potato farm.

Hiii everyone, say, how do your Hawkes go go about sharing their estate? If they do it at all? Is everyone free to come and go or are they more private? Or do they only invite their LI to stay? I'm curious!! :)
#lay rambles#my ocs#oc: liam hawke#oc: lilian hawke#both my hawkes are very social w their friends but i love comparing their boundaries around it#theres variation in rules for specific ppl with both of them ofc but theres still general differences#with liam its all very open and everyone can p much come and go whenever#they dont get extra keys (theyll get lost and he doesnt want randos finding them lol) but they know where to find the spare key#and bodhan and sandal and orana know to let them in whenever#hes very lenient in this this regard but he does have rules abt what he does and doesnt want them to do#mostly its about not making too much of a mess lol bc liam prefers to clean himself#(he doesnt trust the crew with his household and also he has particular ways of doing things and Hates when theyre done differently)#so things like keep your dirty garb at the entrance dont cook by yourselves (this was banned after they did it one (1) time lol) etc#also no fucking allowed. do that somewhere else for the love of the maker he does NOT want to walk into that in his own house#(and it also comes back to liam not trusting them with cleaning but also Not wanting to clean that up lol)#also he is not fond of them going into his room uninvited. most of the house is chill but that is *his* space#he accommodates these rules by e.g. having spare slippers and a little washing basin in the entrance hall for dirty shoes/feet#always makes sure to have snacks in stock that he knows they like#food will have notes abt what to leave for leandra/orana/etc but otherwise food is prepared with his friends in mind#and in general he'll make sure to adjust the space/routine in little ways to accommodate them#(air out when fen isnt there cus he doesnt like drafts; keep curtains open cus anders prefers open spaces; etc)#lilian on the other hand doesnt like when her friends come into the estate without a heads up (cept for emergencies)#but once they have her 'ok' its basically mi casa es su casa#dont yknow. overdo it and get too rowdy but otherwise do whatever#however. she also expects everyone to clean up after themselves. she aint here to play maid and youre all adults#also liam has a general 'please try to not be too wild when leandra is here' and lilian doesnt#not cos she doesnt care but cos leandra is bothered by sth she can speak up herself#oh and lilian uses the basement space as temporary refuge for anyone who needs it (mostly escaped mages)#also side note: both offered gamlen to stay but he refused (out of pride/remorse)#...this got long and i ran out of tag space lmfao so this is it for now xD

was reading the first part of your "the other thing about hiking accidents" post and thinking "haha yeah, like that time my sibling and I accidentally did a hike that was fully snow-covered all the way up and down the mountain with so little experience and none of the things we would have needed if something went wrong, though at least we weren't foolish enough to do it on a mountain more than like a quarter of the elevation of mount hood" and then I got to the second half of the post and started laughing out loud because our ill-advised hike was literally in the white mountains this past april. luckily the trail wasn't icy even at the top and was close to a big info center, and we had substantially better weather than you did! look up your hikes yourself kids, and don't assume that the person in the ski shop where you stopped for coffee will take into account that you're a dumbass from the midatlantic when giving you recommendations for a "short hike" 😂
THE LATTER HALF OF THIS ASK MADE MY HEART STOP. SLKDJFSJDLKFSJL. OH GOD.
in Complete fairness, the lower white mountains aren't Super deadly -- it's typically once you hit the alpine tundra that conditions can get Very Dangerous. i'm guessing you didn't do one of the 4,000+ footers if it was called a quick hike.
and also, i DID eventually get to go up to the white mountains during that trip in april -- we just had to check for favorable weather before we left. so possibly we were up there at around the same time!
but yeah, i've found that hikers from new hampshire tend to have a difficulty baseline that's.... different from the average vacationer's. for ANYONE hiking in the white mountains, i 100% recommend looking up reviews of the trail on alltrails before you go. bc they can be Telling.
if the one-stars all start with "it's flooded with running white water" or "we didn't know about the vertical rock climbs" then..... well. assess your readiness with caution 😭😭😭

i know kit has like actual folders with her in penultimate peril but i think when she was younger she used whatever book she was reading at the time as a filing system/a folder/a purse. she'd bring it with her everywhere so she could read it, and she'd never forget it anywhere, so of course she'd put important things she needed in it. money and notes and recent assignments and letters from her siblings and reminders she's written to herself and a pen clipped on the cover
beatrice meanwhile is a Big Purse person but it also has No Necessities and isn't even necessarily always Big, it is just Jammed with things. multiple books, pairs of stockings, scripts, a bottle opener, the pocket dictionary, six pens because she keeps stealing them from people, a pocket knife, pretzels she forgot about that went stale that she WILL try and eat later regardless, maybe even a pair of shoes. emergency heels
bertrand has the Seemingly Bottomless Inside Jacket Pockets where he does carry The Necessities. always some sort of snack. that is not stale. definitely some candy too, though

My dad was Bruce-ing again today.
Dad: Where are your keys? I'm gonna go put more air in your tire.
Me: I already filled it up this week.
Dad: Oh okay.
Dad goes upstairs for a second and comes back with a bag in his hand.
Dad: Here, take this poncho and put it in your glove compartment. In case you have to pull over in the rain, put it on so other cars can see you.
So then I took my new bright ass orange poncho to my car, bypassing the three water bottles my dad had stuffed in the door pocket as well as the emergency phone battery pack charger he stuffed in another pocket.

Been seeing some "bathena is not on the cruise is a different cruise", stuff and sure it could happen... but honesty i don't answer for myself if it's the case... If the writers of 911, a show that got a new chance after what was basically a cancellation, a show that is premiering in a new network, a show that is getting a lot of promo that didn't use to... seriously if the writers of this show somehow manage to waste a perfect opportunity with their two biggest cast names characters in place for some spot on drama to start the new season on a new network, and instead misdirect the fans when it's actually a different cruise of randoms we don't care about at all, I would probably rage quit this show for real lol.

so i was shooting the shit with the girlies in the group chat earlier and we were talking about the great outdoors, which, of course, are great to everyone...EXCEPT JERSEYKYLE who is basically a spoiled brat and pampered house cat and the only thing he thinks would be great about the outdoors...is if one of them would Fucking OPEN and take him back inside to civilization, cable tv and air conditioning.
like i think in the future when j.k. is working his full-time guidance counsellor job ( mr. bro, you are everything to me, baby ) they coerce him ( probably with pastries, paid vacation time and peer pressure ) into chaperoning the 5th grade weekend overnight camping fieldtrip, which ravenstanley marsh, of course, tells him is a great idea and it’d be fun to be out in the forest....It Was NAUGHT.
i am picturing him in like the big puffy orange jacket and like the grown up version of the green ushanka/ear muffs, shivering, snifflin, shrieking, crying about bears or red, blotchy, completely sunburned, totally bugging about bugs, tear-gassing everything with insecticide,
ready to End It All...
meanwhile future ravenstan, who i like to think went back to school, minored in wildlife, became an badass emergency travel veterinarian, is constantly on the move and on location ( and by that i mean like srsly impoverished third world countries, the amazon rainforest, rural new zealand where they desperately need vets, australia with all the shit that can fkn Kill You, buttfuck -40 siberia saving the polar bears )
working with non-profit wildlife protection and conservation efforts, has a little squad of hyper-vigilant zoomanitarian search and rescue emergency animal doctors that specifically head to dangerous places doing intense emt roadside surgeries, goth boy apothecary hot boy shit, foraging for supplies, making life-saving medicine out of tiny mushrooms and pieces of tree bark, running through fields with possible landmines in it to save endangered species, going full emo indistana jones adventuring and saving the world as captain stanet in no mans land w/ all his tattoos and piercings ( hero KING! )
...just pointing and laughing at teacher yersey when he finally gets thirty min of service on the helicopter flying out of snake island, brazil having nearly escaped having his flesh melted off by pit vipers doing important smart boy science research on different poisons and his fiancé calls him bc he got a bug bite and he thinks he's Cooked.
live laugh love ravesey style, everybody.
