It wasn’t Kara that destroyed her.
In her secret heart, Lena craved that. She wanted Kara to give back everything Lena had thrown at her. Defeat her. Crush her. Cast her down and treat her like a villain. After all, why had Kara lied? Conspired? Tricked her and manipulated her? Why do all that if she wasn’t a villain?
In her quietest moments with Myriad in her hands or staring at the twisted visage of an alien murderer, a quiet voice from deep within her whispered the truth she could never let herself feel:
This is what you are. It’s in the blood.
If Kara would just treat her like a villain, it would all make sense. There would be no more nagging doubts, no more questions, no more hateful longing. Lena has done everything she could to carve it out of her chest, but it gave her no relief, only the raw throbbing pain of a ragged wound that wouldn’t close.
Then she had been at L-Corp when Jess ran into her office in a blind panic, shouting that she had to turn the television on now, that something terrible had happened.
Lena stared at her dumbly because she already knew. She could feel it somehow, a wash of graveyard chill that enveloped her from nowhere and froze the rotten lump where her heart had been. Her hand shook as she lifted the remote and turned on the screen.
The news chyron stuck her like a hammer blow to the chest and her pathetic excuse for a last meal -a cold half of a Big Belly burger she’d eaten the night before- leapt into her throat, trying to escape.
Supergirl Dead?
They hadn’t called her, and why would they? Why seek her help after all she’d done?
Lena pushed to her feet, almost tumbling to the floor in the process. The news was repeating a ten-second clip, showing a red-white beam slicing through the midday air, so bright that it distorted the image as it struck a tiny blue and red blur and knocked her out of the sky as if a giant hand had swatted her to the ground.
She was moving before she realized she’d taken a step.
“Cancel all my meetings,” Lena snapped.
“But the Japanese investors,” Jess said, lamely.
“Fuck the Japanese investors, cancel all my meetings!”
She pushed past Jess and stormed to her private elevator, twisting the key so hard it nearly snapped. She paced the full two minutes it took to to descend to the garage. There would be no summoning a driver. She ran barefoot across the parking garage floor to the Bugatti and threw herself inside.
When she arrived at the DEO, there was chaos. It took a moment before anyone noticed a barefoot, red-eyed Lena Luthor running into the lobby in a blind panic. When they did notice, she was immediately tackled by two of their goons and handcuffs slammed on her wrists.
“What the hell are you doing?” she demanded. “I’m here to help!”
“Shut up,” the agent growled.
They sent jolts of pain up her arms as they took her in. She thought they were going to take the handcuffs off, but instead they cuffed one hand to a chain locked to a ring in the middle of a concrete table in an interrogation room.
“What the hell?” Lena screamed. “I’m here to help her!”
The door slammed heavily shit and Lena raged, yanking at the handcuffs in a futile gesture that only left her wrist raw. She thought about trying to pick them, but at this rate they might shoot her if she looked to escape. Her stomach sank and she began to spiral.
She’s dead. She’s dead and they’re going to blame me.
Hot tears burned in her eyes and she willed them not to fall, holding them back with all her might, but it was inevitable.
Finally, after what felt like half a day, Alex walked in. Lena knew at once that something terrible had happened. Kara’s sister looked like hell, with dark circles under her eyes and a pained look. She regarded Lena as if she were some ugly thing that crawled out of a crack in the foundations.
“What are you doing here?” said Alex.
“I told your thugs, I’m here to help. You’re wasting time, I need to see her now.”
“Why,” Alex said, “why on God’s green earth would I let you anywhere near her?”
Lena blinked. “At least tell me what’s wrong. I might be able to…”
“You locked her in a kryptonite cage. You talked her into breaching her morals to carry out your sick schemes. You aimed a kryptonite cannon at her face.”
“I…”
“You what? You didn’t mean it?”
“Alex,” Lena began.
“Shut up. You had me fooled, Luthor. Kara always believed in you. I didn’t. I tried to convince her to be as afraid of her as I was. I just want to know, why now? She left you alone like you wanted. You’ve been quiet. Kara insisted we give you a chance and let you be, a choice I now deeply regret. So why now? What did she do to deserve this?”
The cold fury radiating from Alex choked Lena up for a moment. Her mouth worked silently.
“You think I did this?”
“Why not? You’ve hurt her twice already.”
“I didn’t. I would never. I didn’t want her to die. I just wanted to…”
“To what?”
Lena swallowed hard, speaking before thinking.
“I wanted her to feel what I was feeling.”
Alex’s eyes narrowed and her expression went dark and hard, something vicious twisting her lips. Her hand twitched towards the bulky alien gun on her hip.
With her other hand, she pulled out a phone and turned it to Lena.
Lena’s stomach flipped when she saw Lex’s grinning face.
“I hope you enjoy your new present,” he said into the camera. “A Kryptonite particle beam enhanced with a high-powered laser tuned to a wavelength that will instantly negate her powers.”
Lex’s grin widened.
“Lena sends her regards.”
Lena blinked a few times. She wanted to thrash, yank her chain, accuse, scream.
“That’s impossible.”
“Why, because you wouldn’t?”
“I killed him,” Lena breathed.
“What?”
“Lex. Lex is dead. I killed him. I killed him!” she was almost hysterical. “I put two shots in his chest and one in his head like he taught me himself. After he escaped last time I killed him.”
Alex’s expression faltered.
“You think I’ll believe that?” she said, but sounded unsure.
“When I was twelve and Lex was away at school, Lillian got drunk and threatened me. I was scared to death she meant it. Lex gave me our father’s gun and taught me to shoot.” A brief, weak smile cursed her lips. “I didn’t realize until a lot later how fucked up that is, but it’s one of my favorite memories of him.”
“You’re telling me you killed him,” said Alex. “After you went behind our backs and used the Hardin-El to heal his ‘cancer.’”
“He was my brother.”
“And you say you killed him.”
Lena looked down, away from her. Tears fell on the table with a soft patter and she choked back a hitching sob.
“She became his new fixation. He was never going to stop. I did what I had to do.”
Alex went silent. Her hand hung by her hip and part of Lena hoped she’d make it fast, the same part that flinched when Alex moved.
The key twisted in the lock and the cuffs ratcheted open. Alex gave her arm a sharp tug. “Get up.”
Lena wobbled to her feet.
“What are you doing?”
“Shut up and walk.”
Alex led her to the elevator, and down a corridor. Kara’s frail form lay behind a layer of plastic curtains, bathed in brilliant light from sunlamps.
“If she comes around,” Alex said, her voice flat. “You can never tell her. She’ll blame herself.”
Alex parted the curtains and led Lena inside. Kara lay n a stretcher with a layer of bandages wound around her bare torso, looking pale and drawn. Her skin shone with a cold sweat and there were dark circles around her eyes. She lay in a nest of wires and was on oxygen.
“My God,” Lena whispered.
“It was like he said. Some kind of particle beam combined with the laser. It’s like she was impaled through the chest with superheated Kryptonite. If Jon hadn’t caught her, the impact would have been fatal.”
Alex rattled it all off with a cold, medical detachment, except for the tension creaking in around the edges of her voice and the way her shoulder hitched.
“You’ve hurt her so much,” Alex whispered. “I don’t think I’m ever going to fully trust you again. But for the love of God, if you can fix her then fix her.”
“I will,” Lena said, the CEO creeping back into her voice. “I’ll need materials from my lab. I’ll give a Brainy a list. I’m not leaving her.”
Lena did not sleep for another thirty-six hours. She worked tirelessly alongside Brainy, who regarded her curiously as she hunched over lab benches and uploaded instructions to nanites.
Finally she said, “what? Why are you looking at me like that?”
He turned back to his own task without answering her.
An hour later, Alex stormed in.
“She’s getting worse. Whatever you’re doing, you have to hurry.”
Brainy turned from his lab bench and took Alex’s arm. He led her into the hall and they had a clipped, quiet conversation that Lena could not hear, except for Alex’s startled cry of “WHAT?”
It didn’t matter, she was finished. She took the devil in her hands and rushed through the door.
“Let’s go, we can’t waste anymore time.”
Alex openly gaped at her, then looked at Brainy. The expression of utter shock on her face arrested Lena in her tracks.
“What?”
“I,” Alex began, but Brainy grabbed her arm and squeezed hard.
“Let’s go,” said Alex.
Lena swept into the lab carrying the module in her hands as if it were made of precious gold.
“Turn off the sunlamps,” Lena ordered the technicians. “If the poisoning progresses, they’ll kill her faster than they heal her.”
Once they were off, Lena placed the device on Kara’s chest and stepped back.
Its sensors detected the Kryptonite and the system deployed. The pod unfolded like a delicate composite flower, and a wave of nanobots poured over Kara’s skin, instantly devouring and reprogramming the nanites in the wreckage of her suit while consuming the linens and bandages to grant the system more mass.
The entire process unfolded in seconds. It ensconced her in a protective layer and expanded, rapidly building an entire protective pod around her body. Dozens of tiny needles inserted dozens of cannulas into her arms and legs and began pumping her full of nanites, sending them storming through her bloodstream.
Lena bit her lip: there was nothing to do now except watch as the system’s AI administered rapid pulses of red and yellow light to balance the speed of her healing as the nanites in her bloodstream identified irradiated particles and consumed them, using them to make more of themselves.
She sat down. She knew this would take hours.
It ended up taking three days.
Lena slept in the side chair by the bed until someone brought her an uncomfortable recliner. Alex came in and out, as did Brainy and Nia, all of them looking at her oddly.
Finally the pod made a pleasant tone and unfolded. Kara lay on her side within, the nanites having formed a new suit top around her to preserve her modesty. She still wasn’t awake, but she was breathing normally and looked for all the world like her usual beautiful self. Lena was alone with her when it happened, and was glad of it. No one saw her brush the loose strands of gold from her face, and no one saw her rest her palm on Kara’s warm cheek.
They all piled on eventually.
Kara did not wake up.
“Why isn’t she coming around?” Alex demanded. “Why doesn’t she wake up?”
“She’s in a Kryptonian healing trance,” said Brainy. “It’s part of the healing process. She will wake when she is ready.”
“When the hell will that be?”
“We should give Lena the room.”
“What? Why?”
“Trust me,” Brainy said firmly.
Lean was as bewildered as Alex. What was she supposed to do?
When they were gone, she caught herself reflected in the monitors around the bed. She looked like shit, with barely one day’s sleep in four. As haggard as she looked, she didn’t care.
What the hell? It couldn’t hurt.
Lena bent over the bed, leaning on one hand, and took Kara’s in the other.
“I don’t know if you’re in there, but if you can hear me, it’s safe now. You can wake up. We’re all here for you. I’m here.”
It might have been the exhaustion, or the desperation, or the sorrow that filled her to bursting like a molten pain, but something happened and Lena let slip something that she’d held so tight she was sure her heart had long since crushed it.
“I love you, Kara. You don’t have to love me back. You don’t even have to like me. But I need you in the world. I need you. I need you, not Supergirl. I need Kara. I need my Kara. Please, if you’re in there at all,”
Kara’s eyes fluttered open. “Lena?”
“I’m here.”
Kara blinked a few times, and her hand closed gently around Lena’s.
“I had a bad dream,” she said. “It hurt so much, it felt like my heart was ripped out and I was in a dark place, and then I heard your voice leading me home.”
Lena grinned in spite of herself, tears stinging her eyes.
“I’m sorry, Kara. For everything.”
“Hush,” Kara whispered, her angelic voice full of quiet wisdom. “We can do that later. You’re tired. Lay down.”
Lena hesitated for a bare moment and then kicked off her shoes before climbing on next to her. Once she was lying down, sleep came crashing down on her like an avalanche as Kara threw an arm over her and tucked in close.
As she drifted off, Lena heard Alex, somewhere in the hall, snap, “Brainy, you knew this entire time?!”

Hell must be paid
Synopsis: (Y/N) is a ruling crime boss in National City and the alpha of the city's werewolf pack. When her lover Morgana(let’s pretend she is in this multiverse and the twin sister of Lena Luthor, who stayed behind in Ireland) gets hurt, somebody has to pay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two sets of headlights illuminated the night sky as they drove in unison to the docks. The first car stopped with screeching tyres making it stop abruptly and rattle forward in front of the pier,. The figure behind the steering wheel stepping out of the car and looked at the scene around her, knowing it was a cliché but a good cliché.
As she approached the trunk of her car, five guys came out of the other vehicle and set up a perimeter. Blending so into the shadows that if she couldn't sense them (Y/N) wouldn't even know they were there. But (Y/N) could tell all her men apart just by smell. That is how she caught the rat.
Before opening the trunk (Y/N) gave her surroundings a once over. She wouldn't want unwanted guests at her party. Opening the trunk, she ignored the body, pretending to be unconscious. Her acute senses could tell the difference, but she would give him his false sense of security. No, first, she had some things to set up. (Y/N) grabbed the chains and heavy weights from next to the man and threw them at the end of the docks. She was letting them fall with a loud clang.
People always said she had a flair for dramatics. It also gave her time to calm down a little and go over what she was going to do to the dead man before he became a dead man.
Thinking back at what the low life in her car had done made her blood boil, and she could not help but think of who it had almost cost her.
When (Y/N) was sure she wasn't going to rip his guy's throat out, she went to pull him out of the car.
Looking down at the man (Y/N), she watched the man who almost took everything from her a couple of hours ago. She waited for him to look her in the eyes.
She knew who the guy was when her men picked him up: James 'Jimmy' Olsen, a former associate of the Kent Clan. What (Y/N) had heard as of late was that he was working for the Danvers sisters.
James finally opened his eyes after (Y/N) glared at him for a few minutes. He was trying not to show his fear, but (Y/N) knew better. She could practically taste his fear.
"Mister Olsen, how nice of you to stop pretending." (Y/N) said in a sweet voice and kind smile, knowing he wouldn't buy it. The smile dropped when he didn't answer.
"I suggest, Mister Olsen, that you don't look a gifted horse in the mouth. To begin with, you are already on thin ice. So don't throw my kindness in my face." (Y/N) half growls as she grabs him by the shirt collar and lifted him out of the trunk like he weighed nothing more than a trash bag. (Y/N) Threw him toward the weight and chains. He comes down while scraping over the ground. Because his hands and feet were bound, he couldn't prepare himself and landed face first, cutting him up just a bit.
Not even a curse. someone had done this before.
(Y/N) hiked over to him, making her footsteps be heard so he knew she was coming closer. She grabbed James roughly by the shoulder and forced him on his back, with her looming over him—eyes just a little too bright in the night and teeth just a little too sharp.
"what do you want from me?" James asked, trying to get away. The hand on his shoulder prevented him from getting very far.
with the poor lighting around them it was like a demon staring down at him, and he had to do everything he could not let his fear show. With the cocky look, James saw on your face, he knew you could tell anyway.
"I think you know what I want from you, Mister Olsen. Seeing as where my men caught you." Patience was not your strong suit; buy you could be when you had to be.
"your men snatched me off the street with no good reason." James started to struggle, trying to get free. He got nowhere, however, except for being slammed back into the ground.
"No, my men picked you up because you smelled like the explosives that set one of my warehouses on fire tonight. A wolf's nose never lies, Mister Olsen. So, who sent you?" He stayed silent and glared at (Y/N), making her furious. Did the little prick even know what he had almost done tonight, who he had nearly cost her?
If he wouldn't talk to save his life, maybe something else could rattle his cage.
"I heard your sister and her wife adopted a little girl recently." That seemed to strike a nerve because he started to fight like an animal. Making (Y/N) smile.
"you bitch. Keep away from my family!"
"I will if you tell me what I want to know…"
A car approaching them pierced the silence. As the vehicle stopped, a chorus of growls could be heard. The person getting out didn't seem to care as they came closer. (Y/N) craned her neck to the side as the mystery person got closer.
"Let him go (Y/N)." Just a little bit of her Irish accent came through, but otherwise, she sounded exactly like Morgana.
"Well, if it isn't the poster child of the Luthor clan herself. Oh, wait, you are nothing more than the breeding bitch of the youngest Danvers now. Here to save the boy toy? (Y/N)' s mouth turned into a loose grin, more teeth than a smile and a mocking tone.
Eyes rooming over Lena's body. Except for the suit and straight hair, she looked exactly like Morgana.
Morgana who was lying unconscious in a hospital bed after a wall collapsed on her. Caused by an explosion ripping through the warehouse, James Olsen had set on fire.
When Lena noticed (Y/N) wasn't budging, she repeated her request, making (Y/N) laugh.
"You knew me, Lena. Mercy isn't in my book." (Y/N) said. Her attention went back to the man under her. She put the chains around the weight before rapping the weights around James, making her intentions very clear.
"if I let him go, what would that do to my reputation?" (Y/N) could feel her rage build the longer Lena was around. Her scent resembled her wounded lover, setting her inner animal on edge.
Lena was smart enough not to get closer. Sensing that (Y/N) was getting more agitated. Slipping from being a brutal bitch to the animal that dwelled inside.
“(Y/N)! whatever you think James has done…"
"You mean setting my warehouse on fire?" It took Lena a little too long for (Y/N) 's liking to come to James's defence.
"so the Danvers sisters set you up for this, Jimmy." (Y/N) says, looking down at James.
Hoisting him up with one arm, she dangled him over the water.
"And here I thought we were getting somewhere in our meetings."
“(Y/N) please! James was ill-informed. He thought your men were responsible for something my brother did."
"the beating of Winn Scott? That's what this is all about." (Y/N) didn't know if she wanted to scream or laugh.
"the warehouse was empty. I checked!" James yelled, his brave demeanour cracking as he dangled in the air over the water.
"you know what is stored next to that warehouse?" Lena noticed (Y/N) 's demeanour growing colder and becoming more dangerous.
"How should I know!" James was getting frantic.
"next to that warehouse, they stored car batteries. When they caught fire, they exploded. Injuring a very important person to me." That sends Lena's mind into overdrive. Only so many people could get this strong reaction out of you. Before anything else could be said, one of (Y/N) 's men emerged from the shadows.
"boss, she is awake." Lena could feel the heaviness of those words. (Y/N) stepped back from the edge and let James fall to the ground without a second thought. She was walking away before he even hit the ground. When she passed Lena, she stopped for just a moment.
"This isn't forgotten. If Morganna doesn't fully recover, I will see this little stunt as an act of war. Also, you can consider our meeting over and get your men out of my territory within the next 2 hours, or I will consider them fair game." With that, (Y/N) got into her car and sped off.
Lena caught her breath momentarily, not knowing she was holding it. She got to James and helped him out of his binds.
"I hope for all our sakes, James, that Morgana isn't that injured; otherwise, we have a war on our hands. Also, you can explain this to Alex when we get back."

You're My Hero, Lena Luthor (Supercorp)
(in which Lena saves Kara)
Tumblr media
Lena busied herself with preparations for a movie night with her best friend, Kara Danvers. She unlatched the balcony door before setting out food and drinks, knowing that it was Kara's preferred entrance to her apartment after a long night of being Supergirl. Lena busied herself with grabbing blankets and pillows, but deep within her, a torrent of emotions raged, bound by the heavy chains of secrecy. She had a secret- she was desperately in love with Kara. But it was a secret she could never dare to reveal, because the fear of losing Kara and their precious friendship consumed her every thought.
A year had passed since that lightning bolt of realization had struck Lena's heart. It had happened so unexpectedly, as she watched Kara devour potstickers and vent about work, which had been an ordinary occurrence, but that day, something shifted. In that instant, she realized the truth she had been denying: she was in love with Kara. The realization had shattered the walls she had built around her own sexuality, leaving her feeling vulnerable and exposed.
Lena knew she had to keep her feelings hidden. She couldn't risk losing Kara, the person who meant the world to her. If friendship was all she could have, she would embrace it with all her heart, sacrificing her own desires. She would do whatever it took to keep Kara in her life, even if it meant enduring the ache in her heart. If being a friend was all she could have, then that's what she would be. She would stand by Kara's side, offering unwavering loyalty and support, a comforting presence whenever Kara needed it. Lena's own happiness became secondary; as long as Kara was happy and remained a part of her life, Lena would find solace in that alone.
Besides, Lena doubted that Kara could ever feel the same way. Kara was straight, or at least that was what Lena believed. She had only seen Kara date guys, although none of them seemed to capture her attention for too long, and Kara never mentioned a different attraction. Still, Lena couldn't help but question if Kara could ever reciprocate her feelings. It was a painful uncertainty that tormented her, threatening to consume her every waking moment.
Kara's beauty captivated Lena's senses, each facet of her being enchanting and magnetic. Her bashful grace, unwavering strength, and tireless commitment to righteousness entranced Lena, casting an unbreakable spell upon her heart. Kara was the light that guided Lena's path, the singular source of goodness in a world shrouded in darkness. And those sapphire blue eyes, they were both Lena's sanctuary and her downfall, haunting her dreams and offering glimpses of an elusive future, and Lena could see her life unfolding in those shades of blue.
But Lena knew she had to keep her walls up, fearing that revealing her feelings would only cause Kara to pull away, ruining their friendship. Fleeting moments between them teased her hopes—the two of them cuddled together on the couch, or sharing lingering glances and exchanging soft, secret smiles, it felt as though there might be something more. But Lena dared not place her trust in these ephemeral signs. Self-doubt gnawed at her, a constant companion in the labyrinth of her anguished heart.
If Kara only wanted her as a friend, then Lena would accept it, even if it tore her apart inside. She would bury her longing deep within, pretending that her heart wasn't breaking with every smile, every touch, every stolen moment they shared. Lena would be the steadfast companion, the one who would never abandon Kara, regardless of her own desires.
And so, Lena continued to set up for their movie night with her friend.
--
Lena carefully placed Kara's favourite blanket on the couch, still lost in the whirlwind of her thoughts, waiting for Kara to arrive. The intrusive sound of her phone ringing shattered the silence in her apartment. Startled, she reached for it, expecting to hear Kara's voice on the other end, assuring her that she was on her way. However, her heart sank as she glanced at the caller ID, revealing Alex's name. Concern immediately gripped her, as they rarely called each other, especially at this late hour. With a mix of worry and anticipation, Lena answered the call.
Alex? What's wrong?" Lena's voice trembled with a hint of fear, her mind racing through the countless possibilities of what could have happened.
"Lena," the urgency in Alex's voice was palpable. "I... I don't know how to say this, but Kara has been taken by Lex. He sent us a video. He's hurting her, Lena. With Kryptonite."
Lena's world shattered in an instant. The weight of those words crashed down upon her, threatening to drown her in a sea of anguish. She clutched the phone tightly, struggling to find her voice, her mind reeling with disbelief. Kara, her sweet, pure Kara, in the clutches of her own evil brother, enduring unimaginable pain. It was a betrayal that tore at Lena's very core, a stark reminder of the darkness that always lingered within her family.
She had believed she could rise above the darkness that plagued her family, that she had escaped their grasp. But now, that darkness was reaching for the woman she loved, threatening to taint and consume her light. A surge of fierce protectiveness surged through Lena's veins, overriding her own fear and pain.
"I'll be there soon, Alex. We'll find her. We have to."
Without wasting another moment, Lena hastily gathered her belongings, her mind a whirlwind of anguish, rage, and fear. The drive to the DEO was a blur, her grip on the steering wheel tightening with every passing second. She arrived at the facility, her steps quick and purposeful, leading her to Alex, who stood there with a haunted expression, holding the damning evidence of Kara's torment.
Lena's heart hammered in her chest as she watched the video, her vision blurred by tears that threatened to spill. Lex's maniacal laughter echoed through the room, each instance of Kryptonite-inflicted pain etching itself into Lena's soul. The sound of Kara's screams reverberated through Lena's very being, igniting a firestorm of anguish and rage within her.
But amidst the despair that threatened to consume her, Lena's gaze caught a fleeting glimpse of the background in the video. Her breath hitched as recognition dawned upon her—it was the cave they had played in as children, a place where innocence once thrived. And in that moment of clarity, Lena knew. She knew where Lex had taken Kara.
With a resolute determination, Lena made a silent vow to protect the woman she loved. She slipped away from the DEO, leaving no trace of her intentions, knowing the risks involved. Lex would kill anyone else who entered that cave, and Lena couldn't put their lives at stake. She knew that Alex would be mad, but she had to protect her too.
Lena returned to her apartment, her movements fueled by a potent mix of anger, desperation, and love. She retrieved her gun from the safe, her fingers trembling as she clasped it tightly, a tangible symbol of her readiness to face her own brother, to confront the darkness that threatened to consume them all.
Entering the cave, Lena's heart raced in sync with the rapid beat of her footsteps, her mind focused on the mission ahead. She encountered Lex's cunning booby traps along the way, disabling them with deftness. Finally, she arrived at the back of the cave, where her eyes fell upon the unconscious form of Kara—weak, battered, and bloodied.
Time seemed to stand still as Lena rushed to Kara's side, tears streaming down her face. With trembling hands, she gently cradled Kara's face, her touch a delicate caress against the bruises that marred her skin. The sight of Kara's vulnerability, the evidence of her suffering, tore at Lena's very soul.
Lena's trembling fingertips brushed against Kara's blood-stained face, a mixture of concern and tenderness etched upon her own. Kara's beautiful blue eyes fluttered open, but there was a hint of confusion, as if she couldn't quite believe what she was seeing. Lena's heart skipped a beat at the sight of Kara's fragile smile, as if Lena's presence defied all logic and belonged to a realm beyond reality.
"You're back," Kara whispered, her voice barely audible. Lena's breath caught in her throat, feeling the weight of those words. The intensity of Kara's gaze bore into her, yet there was an ethereal quality to it, as if Kara believed Lena to be a mirage in her blood-streaked world. Lena fought to steady her voice, to reassure Kara that she was indeed real.
"I'm here," Lena replied, her voice trembling with a mix of relief and longing. She reached out to untie the straps that held Kara down, her heart sinking as she noticed the residue of kryptonite coating them. The realization of the cruelty Kara had endured at Lex's hands tightened the grip of anger within Lena.
With gentle care, Lena helped Kara sit up, supporting her weakened form. Their eyes locked. And in that hushed moment, as if whispered by the faintest of breaths, Kara murmured, "You're so beautiful."
Lena's heartbeat quickened, her mind and emotions colliding. Before she could respond, Kara's lips pressed against hers in a soft, fleeting kiss. Lena's mind whirled with the intensity of the moment, but before she could respond, Kara's strength faltered, and she slumped against Lena, falling unconscious once more.
As Lena held Kara close, the silence was shattered by the mocking laughter that echoed through the cave. Lex's chilling presence filled the air as he stepped into view, his eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure. "Wow, that was touching," he scoffed, his laughter laced with disdain. "I'm actually in tears, look." He pointed to his feigned display of emotion, the insincerity clear in his voice. "You came alone, sister? Brave of you," Lex taunted, his words dripping with malicious intent.
Lena's eyes blazed with anger as she locked her gaze on her brother, a simmering hatred burning within her. Lex, fueled by his own malice, didn't like Lena's silence. He spoke, his voice laced with anger. "All this is touching, really," he sneered, "but you know they'll never truly trust you. We're Luthors, Lena. Stop denying your legacy and join me."
Gently placing Kara on the bed, Lena's resolve hardened, her voice firm and resolute. "I will never join you, Lex," she declared, her words echoing with unwavering determination. The weight of her family name no longer held power over her. She had forged her own path, separate from the darkness that consumed her brother.
Lex's face twisted with both frustration and disbelief, unable to comprehend Lena's defiance. The bond they once shared seemed irreparably broken. In his delusion, he failed to understand that Lena's allegiance had shifted the moment she met Kara, guided by love and a desire to protect what truly mattered to her.
A surge of rage distorted Lex's features, his voice laced with frustration. "They really got to you, huh? How pathetic," he spat. "A Luthor reduced to being Supergirl's little whore. But mark my words, Lena, they'll turn on you the second they have a reason to doubt you. And they'll always doubt you."
Determination hardened Lena's gaze as she stared back at her brother, the remnants of hope for his redemption fading away. She had clung to the memories of the Lex she once knew, the Lex she hoped he could become again. But now, confronted with his unyielding darkness, she recognized the futility of that hope. Her hatred for him surged, fueled by his twisted actions.
Before Lena could respond, a searing pain tore through her leg, causing her to cry out in agony.
Her breath caught in her throat as her gaze dropped to her thigh, where blood spilled out, staining her jeans in a vivid crimson. Shock and disbelief flooded her senses, rendering her momentarily speechless. How had she not seen the gun? Yet there it was, smoke curling from Lex's gloved hands, the weapon of betrayal and destruction.
The pain from the gunshot wound intensified, shooting through her nerves like an electric current. Lena's mind reeled, struggling to process the gravity of the situation. Each passing second only intensified her anguish, and her vision blurred as tears welled in her eyes. She clutched her wounded leg, trying in vain to halt the crimson flow, feeling helpless against the relentless onslaught.
With a trembling gaze, Lena shifted her focus from her own injury to the figure of Kara lying motionless on the nearby bed. Her heart constricted with a mix of fear and dread. In Lex's other hand, a kryptonite gun hung casually from his fingers, serving as a chilling reminder of the threat to Kara's life. Lena knew that in Kara's weakened state, a bullet from that gun would be fatal.
A wave of sheer terror coursed through Lena's veins, overpowering the pain that radiated from her leg. She fought to steady her trembling limbs, knowing that time was slipping away, and Kara's life hung in the balance. Sweat mingled with the tears streaming down her face, a testament to the fear that gripped her so tightly.
Defiance blazed within her as she took a staggering step forward, her focus unwavering. She was resolved to protect Kara, no matter the cost. The pain in her leg surged with every movement, threatening to consume her, but Lena pressed on. Her eyes bore into Lex's, catching a glimpse of the sadistic satisfaction that danced in his gaze.
"Lex, no matter what you do to me, I will never allow you to harm her," Lena managed to utter, her voice strained yet resolute. The pain in her leg continued to scream through her body.
"Wait," he taunted, a sinister smirk playing on his lips, "let me rephrase my earlier statement. The only way to save her is to kill me, and I know you won't do that. So it's best that you join me, sister. We can be a family again."
With a cruel flicker of his hand, Lex activated the kryptonite gun, pointing it directly at Kara, poised to end her life. Lena's heart raced, her protective instincts kicking into overdrive. Lena's body throbbed with searing pain, her wounded leg screaming with each step she took. But as her gaze fell upon Kara, lying unconscious and vulnerable on the bed, a surge of determination overcame her. With sheer force of will, Lena pushed through the agony, her mind focused solely on Kara's well-being. Ignoring the shooting pain in her leg, she mustered every ounce of strength she had left. Gritting her teeth against the torment, she moved toward Kara, determination etched across her face. She positioned herself between Lex and Kara. Her hand instinctively reached for her own gun, gripping it tightly.
In a voice filled with determination, Lena declared her unwavering stance. "She is my family," she affirmed. With resolve burning in her eyes, Lena squeezed the trigger, the gunshot piercing the air as the bullet found its mark, striking Lex in the stomach.
Lex's face twisted in shock, his hand instinctively pressing against the wound, blood seeping through his fingers. He staggered backward, the pain searing through him, before collapsing to the floor with a guttural groan.
With fiery determination still coursing through her veins, Lena took a calculated step toward the fallen Lex. She stood over him, her body trembling with rage and an overwhelming desire to exact revenge, fueled by years of resentment and the raw desire to protect Kara. Her fingers tightened around the gun as a dark impulse urged her to end him. The seething darkness clawed at the edges of her mind, hungry for release. It whispered twisted promises, urging her to give in to the primal urge that surged through her veins. The thought of ending Lex's wretched existence enticed her like a forbidden fruit, its taste bitter yet enticing.
In that moment, Lena yearned to surrender to the darkest corners of her soul, to revel in the primal pleasure of watching Lex suffer and die for what he did to Kara. Her life would become simpler, unburdened by the constant threat he posed. Luthors were masters of manipulation, architects of destruction, and she was no stranger to their legacy. The thought of embracing her dark lineage and casting judgment upon him seemed all too tempting.
But then, as if through a fog, she heard a faint moan—a sound that pierced through the darkness clouding her mind. Kara's voice, weakened and vulnerable, cut through the haze of anger and vengeance. In an instant, Lena's focus shifted entirely, her concern for Kara overpowering her thirst for retribution. Once again, Kara was her light, her reason to fight against the darkness. The grip on the gun loosened, and it slipped from her trembling hand, clattering to the cold cave floor.
Without a second thought, Lena dashed toward Kara, her injured leg screaming in protest with every step. Pain became secondary to the urgency of reaching her love, of ensuring Kara's safety above all else.
She found Kara lying unconscious, the sight tugging at Lena's heartstrings. The anger that consumed her moments ago dissipated, replaced by a surge of protectiveness . Tenderly, Lena cradled Kara in her arms, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "You're safe now, darling. I've got you," she whispered.
Time was slipping away, and Lena knew she had to act swiftly. Ignoring the searing pain in her leg, she drew on every ounce of strength. She carried Kara out of the cave, leaving Lex bleeding on the cold, unforgiving floor, a testament to the shattered ties of a broken family.
She would do anything to protect Kara.
--
At the DEO, Lena watched intently as Kara's chest rose and fell with deep breaths under the gentle glow of the sun lamps. In the starkness of the hospital room, Kara lay there, small and fragile, swallowed by the hospital gown that seemed several sizes too big. Her body bore the marks of her ordeal, cuts and bruises marring her skin like painful reminders of the battle she had fought.
But amidst the fragility that engulfed her, Lena saw beyond the surface. She recognized that Kara's true strength resided not just in her physical abilities as Supergirl but also in the unwavering spirit that burned within her. It was a strength that emanated from her core, an indomitable force that had carried her through countless challenges.
Lena's gaze traced the lines of Kara's face, where determination and resilience were etched into her features. Despite the vulnerability of her appearance, she knew that Kara was strong and brave. Kara had faced adversity time and again, and each time she emerged stronger, refusing to let the weight of the world crush her.
After hours of anxious waiting, and despite the irritating bandage on her leg, Lena's eyes remained fixed on Kara. Her silent vigil was finally rewarded as Kara's beautiful blue eyes fluttered open, locking onto Lena's presence.
"You're here. You're real," Kara whispered, her voice weak yet filled with relief, her trembling hand reaching out for Lena.
A surge of emotions welled up within Lena as she gently grasped Kara's outstretched hand. Kara laced their fingers together.
"I'm here. I'll always be here," Lena breathed out, her voice catching in her throat. She understood the fear that Kara had experienced, the haunting uncertainty of dreams that blurred the lines between reality and imagination.
"I thought you were a dream again," Kara said her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know how you found me but thank you. You're my hero, Lena Luthor." A genuine smile adorned her face, radiating warmth even in her weakened state. Lena laughed softly. Tears welled in Lena's eyes, as the depth of her emotions threatened to spill.
In that moment, Lena yearned to hold Kara's hand tightly, to pull her close, to confess her fears and feelings. The intensity of what they had gone through, the prospect of losing Kara, heightened her desire to protect her from the world. Yet, Lena knew she couldn't act on those impulses, not without risking their friendship or misinterpreting the circumstances of their ordeal. The weight of Kara's words tugged at her heart, urging her to lean in, to express the depth of her own feelings. But she hesitated, resisting the urge to gather Kara in her arms as uncertainty lingered in the air, casting a shadow of doubt upon what had transpired in the cave. Lena's mind wrestled with the possibility that Kara's actions in the cave were born of delirium, that they held no deeper meaning. It was a fragile hope that whispered in Lena's heart, the hope that what they shared could be more. Lena held onto Kara's hand and let her thoughts spiral.
"I love you," Kara whispered, her voice so soft that it broke through Lena's thoughts, instantly capturing her attention.
Lena's head snapped up, her eyes meeting Kara's, her mind racing to comprehend the weight of those words.
"I love you," Kara repeated, her voice filled with vulnerability and sincerity, "and I almost died without telling you. You don't have to say anything. I just needed you to know, okay?"
Lena's breath hitched. It was as if the world around them faded into the background, leaving only Kara and Lena in that moment. Tears welled up in Lena's eyes, and she couldn't help but let them fall, each drop carrying the weight of her love and longing.
Without hesitation, Lena leaned forward, her lips softly meeting Kara's. It was a tender kiss, a culmination of unspoken feelings. Lena poured her love into the kiss, her gratitude, and her promise.
Whispering against Kara's lips, Lena confessed, "I love you too. I have loved you for so long,"
Their lips parted, and Lena looked into Kara's eyes. In that shared moment, the world seemed to fall away, leaving them suspended. Their hands remained entwined, their fingers lacing together.
Lena's mind raced with thoughts of the past, of the countless months spent yearning for Kara, of the internal battles she fought while suppressing her feelings. She couldn't help but reproach herself for the missed opportunities, for the moments they could have shared if fear hadn't held them captive.
But now, as Kara's heartfelt confession echoed in her ears, Lena's entire being surged with a newfound determination. She wouldn't allow another precious moment to slip through her fingers. She wasn't going to waste another moment. Kara Danvers loved her, and Lena felt like a superhero for the first time in her life.

I feel like I see a lot of people say that Kara’s behavior In Trinity (3x17) was out of character, and I wanna say I mostly agree, but also I don’t. A lot of what Kara was going through in season 3 was her trying to put up shields and be just the Girl Of Steel, and anything that could hurt her emotionally or physically she was shutting down. So it does make sense in a way why she reacted so strongly with Kryptonite this time around than she had previously, but the way she treated Lena was just so off that I can’t say it was entirely in character either. And I think that honestly a lot of why Kara was so hostile was that the writers were trying to amp up Lena and James, so they switched Kara and James’s role (Kara being the antagonist this time around, while James is the defender) but that’s mostly just a writing thing. In actual terms of character drive, it really doesn’t make sense. Up until that moment Kara was really pushing the “Lena isn’t just a Luthor, she’s not like them” motto, and I feel like Trinity destroyed a lot of that. Like what do you mean miss “Lena’s not a member of Cadmus!, But she’s not like them, But she didn’t do it!, now you have someone to believe in you always, are you kidding me!! The only thing Lena has done is help!!” (All just in Luthors (2x12) alone) was all “that’s not a great question for a Luthor to ask someone in my family” ??? And then went behind Lena’s back and had James break into her private vault cause she didn’t trust her??? To sum up, she would not fucking do or say any of that this woman SUPPORTS her wife thank you very much.

“Lena, you’re coming with us.”
She looked up sharply as Alex stormed into her office, followed by a dozen DEO goons and a flustered, apologetic Jess as she flipped rapidly between apologizing to Lena for permitting the intrusion and shouting at Alex to get out, only to be ignored.
“Jess, it’s fine,” Lena said, calmly, though her heart was racing. “I’ll hear what they have to say.”
“Cover the entrances,” Alex told her men.
Even when balaclavas over their faces and goggles, Lena could sense their unease. The one who was unmasked -Lena vaguely remembered she was named Vazquez- gave Alex a plaintive, pained look before stepping out. The doors hissed shut behind them, and Alex was alone with her.
“We don’t have time for you to be argumentative.”
“What horrific crime did I commit this time?
“I’m not accusing you of anything. I’m taking you into protective custody.”
Lena put down her phone.
“What?”
Alex produced a tablet from the bag on her thigh and stormed over, hitting play on a video.
It was Lex. Lena’s stomach dropped.
“Hello, Director Danvers,” said Lex. “I hope this message finds you well, because none of you are going to be well much longer.”
A thought hit Lena like a freight train: If I’m in danger, where’s Kara? Even now Kara would drop everything, risk everything, to keep her from harm.
Lex opened a velvet box and drew out a small device. Lena recognized it and felt her gorge rising. It was another disperser, but something was wrong. The crystal within glowed a deep, scintillating red, like a hot coal drawn from a fire.
“Remember this?” said Lex. “You and the rest of this world are about to learn what happens when you trust an alien.”
“What the fuck?” Lena blurted. “He can’t be alive.”
Alex shook her head.
Lex slammed his fist down, and Alex turned it off.
“Well worry about your brother later. He spread red kryptonite into the atmosphere. We can’t find Kara and she’s not responding to our hails. We have to take anyone she might come after into secure custody where she can’t sense you and we have to go now.”
“But…”
“This shit drives her insane,” Alex snapped, seizing Lena’s shoulders. “The last time she was exposed she threw Cat Grant off a building. She almost killed me. ME, Lena.”
A cold flush ran down her limbs, as if she’d been thrown into the cold sea, and panic surged from deep down inside. The last time Lena had seen Kara it had been through Kryptonite-frosted crystal before she abandoned her in the fortress of solitude.
“Part of me wants to leave you here and let you get what you deserve,” Alex said, coldly, “but we are going to fix her and when we do she’d never forgive me for letting you get hurt. Even now she won’t let go of her feelings for you. She keeps talking about saving you.”
Lena swallowed hard. “Her what?”
“Lena, get up. For once in your life just cooperate and do what you’re fucking told before…”
Boot heels thudded on the balcony and dread could tight in Lena’s gut. It was a futile gesture but she stood anyway as Alex stepped between them.
The door was locked, but Kara didn’t care. She threw the door open, sending the lock mechanism flying across the room and cracking the bomb-proof glass on the process. Alex pulled her alien pistol and aimed it at Kara’s head.
“Don’t make me hurt you, Kara. I won’t let you do something you regret.”
Kara stared at her with bloodshot eyes, the ocean blue irises turned a bruise purple as red flashes danced across the whites, like the setting sun chasing across frosted snow. She moved with a languid, inhuman grace, at once casual and as menacing as a predator stalking prey that had no means of escape.
“Hello, Lena.”
“Kara,” Alex warned. “I know you’re in there. Come back with me.”
Kara ignored her, sweeping her aside with an outstretched arm. Alex went flying, crashing into the doors with a grunt, rolling to the ground unmoving.
“Kara,” Lena said calmly, backing away. “You hurt Alex.”
“I know.”
“Why are you doing this?”
Kara smiled at her, but there was none of her usual joy, her usual mirth, only a cold, vicious baring of teeth. Lena thumped against her bookcase and a model of the HMS victory that Lex gave her after he finished it toppled from the self.
Kara caught it and returned it to its place. She thrust her hands out, bracketing Lena as she leaned in, trapping her. Lena’s heart was pounding.
“You’re scared,” Kara said, “I can taste it in your pheromones. Did you know I can do that? I can sense your skin’s electrical impedance and see the heat bloom in your flesh and hear your heartbeat. If I focus very very hard I can hear brainwaves.”
“I didn’t know that,” Lena said, shocked at the smooth calm in her own voice.
“I knew it was a lie the whole time. I knew it was a lie from the night at the Pullitzer gala, when you really started loathing me.”
“Then why did you-“
“I didn’t want it to be a lie!” Kara snapped, jolting Lena as she pressed into the bookcase. “I wanted it to be real. I wanted finally be free of the pain of hiding myself from you.”
Behind them, Alex groaned as she sat up, staring at them with a thin trickle of blood running from her nose.
“Kara,” Lena said, very softly. “I can see that you’re sick . Let me help you. I can purge the red Kryptonite from your system in my lab.”
“Why would I want to purge it?”
“You hurt Alex. You love Alex.”
“Do I?”
“Yes,” said Lena. “You’re good, Kara. You’re so good. You’re the kindest, most merciful-“
“I’m tired of being kind!” Kara shouted, stinging her ears. “I’m tired of being nice. I’m tired of taking bullets for people! Just because they don’t inure me doesn’t mean they don’t hurt!”
“I didn’t know that either,” Lena whispered. “I thought…”
“You thought nothing hurts me,” Kara said, leaning in close, so close her breath tickled Lena’s lips. “But you hurt me. You hurt more than anything. More than your brother, more than Reign, more than the clone. Dying don’t hurt as much as you hurt me.”
Lena spared Alex a glance. She was lying against the doors, holding her belly. She met Lena’s gaze levelly and Lena knew in an instant the danger she was in and the terrible truth.
She was the only one who could stop Kara.
“I know,” said Lena. “I know I did and it felt good when I was doing it.”
“Lena!” Alex gasped, “are you fucking crazy?”
“It felt good,” Lena said, trying to force the trembling out of her voice and failing. “It felt so good to lash out. I wanted to hurt someone. I want to hurt everyone. I wanted everyone to feel what I’m feeling. Especially you. I bet it felt a lot like what you’re feeling now.”
Kara’s eyes were wild with fury, moments from kindling the red-sun fire that would wipe Lena from existence.
“I never stopped believing in you,” said Kara. “I’m the only reason you’re not in a cell beneath a secret desert compound. All this time I’ve defended you and believed in you and protected you.”
“All this time?” Lena snapped back, fury kindling behind the terror, chasing it back as a fire’s light chases the dark.
She was Lena Luthor. She wasn’t going to die afraid.
“You mean all this time when you accused me of conspiring against you? When you suddenly turned cold to me after telling me how you believed in me? When you made my boyfriend spy on me and destroyed my relationship?”
Lena’s hands released the shelves she’d been strangling in twin death grips.
“I… I…”
“How was I supposed to react to learning that you were both people? After what you did? You should punish me, Kara. I’m a murderer.”
Alex gasped, eyes darting from Kara to Lena.
“I killed my brother for you,” Lena said, very softly. “I killed him because I had to. Because you never would. I’m not a hero like you. I’d do it again. I’d do it all again for you. Now I find out he’s still alive. I may have to. I will. I’ll make sure he’s dead this time!”
Kara blinked, her eyes steaming from the heat inside her as tears ran down her cheeks.
“It hurts,” Kara whispered. “It hurts seeing the truth. It hurts to know what I did.”
“I know how much it hurts,” Lean said, bringing her hands to cup Kara’s face lightly. She was shaking, feverish, her skin almost uncomfortably hot. Lena felt a touch of rising panic and forced it down.
“It hurts knowing that I broke up you and James on purpose. It hurts knowing why. It hurts that even now I can’t say it, I’m too scared.”
“I’m supposed to want you and not him,” Lena said.
Kara jerked back slightly, her eyes going wide. It was an admission without words, a confession to a crime she’d already admitted. She pressed her eyes shut and the tears flowed anyway.
“I’m sorry.”
“I know,” said Lena. “It hurts, doesn’t it? The anger.”
“Yes,” said Kara. “It burns. It’s burning me up. I can feel it in my chest, like it’s turning my ribs to cinders.”
Lena nodded. “I came back for you.”
“What?”
“I came back for you. I went back to the Fortress. I was as going to let you out, accept the consequences of what I’d done, but Alex must have already found you.”
“She did.”
“She always takes care of you, doesn’t she?”
Kara blinked. “Yes.”
“It hurt the most then,” said Lena, “knowing that I’d made my choice and I couldn’t take it back. I planned it all for months. I lost myself in how good it would feel to make you suffer like I’m suffering. Then when I did it there was nothing. No joy. No catharsis. I just felt hollow.”
Lena sighed. “I fucked up. I ruined my life.”
She flinched as Kara’s too-warm hand brushed her cheek, her thumb grazing lightly over her chin.
“I would forgive you any trespass. I would never hurt you,” she said, even as she trembled with rage.
“I know,” said Lena.
“Part of me wants to.”
“I know. Kara, let me help you. Please. You’re sick.”
Kara looked at her and Lena wondered what was going through her head. Did she think it was all a manipulation, a ploy? Would she lose it and snap Lena’s neck, or whip her head with a burst of heat vision and burn them all?
“Okay,” Kara breathed.
Lena reached over and pulled the book on her shelf that opened with direct elevator to her private lab. It was a touch melodramatic, but hell, it was he office.
She gave Alex a glance, waiting for the nod before she stepped inside with Lena.
They rode down in silence. Kara fell back on Lena’s exam table and closed her eyes as Lena placed the device on Kara’s chest. The House of El rune on the machine glowed as it recalibrated itself and began purging the radiation from her system.
Lena knew it was working when Kara began to weep, her face twisting in a grimace of towering grief. When it was done, Lena carefully removed the device and brushed loose strands of hair from Kara’s eyes and gently wrapped her arms around her. Kara buried her face in Lena’s neck and sobbed, shaking the table with the fury of her sorrow.
“I didn’t mean it,” she whimpered.
“I know,” Lena whispered, smoothing a hand over her head. “I know.”
“Is Alex…”
“She’ll be fine, her people have already taken her to the L-Corp infirmary. She’s fine.”
Kara’s voice was almost childlike. “Did I hurt you?”
Lena closed her eyes. “Yeah. You hurt me. It’s okay, darling. It’s going to be okay.”
Kara’s arms looped around her, tentatively. When Lena didn’t push her back, Kara relaxed into the hug.
“I’m sorry, Lena. I’m so fucking sorry.”
“Shhh, I know. I know. I’m sorry too. I forgive you.”
“You can’t,” Kara whimpered. “You can’t just do that.”
“Yes I can. I’m so rich I can do whatever I want. Here.”
Without letting Kara go, she reached over and took Myriad, placing it in Kara’s hands.
“It’s going to be okay,” Lena whispered, as Kara hugged her tighter.

another day to use the last 15 mins i'm allowed (health-wise) to be awake on a weekday to think about the supercorp ph uni au [1 2]
thinking of how lena might join actual protests (slowly and just the Major ones) bc of kara and lillian finds out and is abso-fucking-lutely furious. she flies all the way to the philippines with the intention of dragging lena home but lena's two steps ahead. she's already changed her tuition payment from the luthor accounts to a student loan.
she's been working part time for a local lab (under recommendation from her professors instead of her family name, for once) and moving whatever money she could get from whatever lionel and lex had left or given her into investments and some small properties. she moved out of the place lillian had originally bought her and was living in a tiny apartment with a girl named sam and sam's two-year-old daughter, ruby.
by the time lillian arrives to try and bring her back home, she's practically financially free of the luthor chain. the only thing holding her back is the duty she used to feel for the people who raised her. but now? now lena has a family. she has sam and ruby, her roommates who force her to relax and watch reruns of batibot and sineskwela with them. jack, her fellow international student and favorite science partner who helped her sort her finances. brainy, her co-worker from ust who continuously betters and challenges her. alex, who, somehow, became her drinking buddy and confidante. nia, kara's underclassman who introduced her to the bahaghari organization. and kara, her best friend. her favorite person. the woman who stood next to her when lillian yelled and yelled and yelled in her twisted effort to get her to go back home.
but lena finds that she is home. the philippines has given her more than metropolis or the luthors have ever bothered to offer.
friends.
a family.
home.
love.
lena knows where she belongs now, and she won't let anyone take that away from her.

Always (supercorp)
Lena has nightmares every night and only Kara can keep them at bay.
or
Kara finds every excuse to spend the night in Lena's bed so that Lena can sleep.
a soft, fluffy and angsty supercorp fic.
Tumblr media
Lena lay in bed, her eyes heavy with exhaustion, but her mind stubbornly refusing to give in to sleep. Night after night, the same haunting nightmares tormented her, a relentless loop of horror that had become all too familiar. It had been a month since that dreadful day when Lex had blown up a building and then turned his madness towards her.
The scar on her stomach throbbed, a constant physical reminder of that traumatic encounter. She traced her fingers over the faint line, a painful memory etched into her skin. Closing her eyes, she could vividly recall that nightmarish moment. The memory played out like a horrifying movie reel in her mind.
Lex, his face contorted with manic rage, covered in sweat and soot from the destruction he had wrought. His eyes glinted with a dangerous intensity as he approached her, a knife concealed up his sleeve.
"This is your last chance to join me, sister," his voice dripped with a chilling mix of desperation and malice.
Lena's response had been firm and resolute, her voice unwavering, "Never."
Lex lunged at her, the knife flashing in the dim light. The searing pain as the blade sliced through her flesh, the shock and disbelief that followed, and then a wave of darkness that enveloped her as her vision blurred and her body gave way.
Just as the darkness threatened to consume her completely, a distant voice penetrated the void. Kara's voice, a desperate scream that pierced through the fog of unconsciousness. But Lena was already slipping away, unable to fight against the pull of oblivion.
Back in the present, Lena's body finally succumbed to its overwhelming fatigue, her eyelids drooping as her thoughts continued to race. She fought against the encroaching sleep, desperately clinging to consciousness. But the battle was a losing one, and eventually, her mind gave in.
The nightmares returned with a vengeance, a macabre tapestry of fear and torment that painted her subconscious in vivid shades of terror. The sound of explosions echoed in her ears, and the memory of Lex's crazed expression haunted her once more. Lena thrashed in her sleep, trapped in a nightmarish cycle that seemed impossible to escape.
As the nightmares intensified, Lena's eyes snapped open, her body drenched in sweat, heart racing. She was back in her room, the dim light casting eerie shadows on the walls. Gasping for air, Lena realized that the room felt suffocating, the weight of her memories and fears pressing down on her. She sat up, her breathing ragged, and rubbed her temples as she tried to shake off the residual terror. She knew she couldn't go on like this, trapped in a cycle of sleepless nights and haunting dreams. But finding a way out seemed impossible, her trauma a prison from which there was no escape.
Exhausted and defeated, Lena lay back down, her eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. She longed for respite, for a moment of peace, but she knew that the night was far from over, and the nightmares would likely return once more. With a heavy sigh, she braced herself for another sleepless night.
The following night, Lena slid into bed and found herself staring at the ceiling, her heart racing, her breath uneven. She couldn't bear the thought of closing her eyes, of succumbing once more to the terrors that awaited her in the realm of dreams.
With a sigh, she reached over to turn off her lamp, plunging her room into darkness. But just as she settled back against her pillows, a soft knock echoed through the room, startling her. Lena's heart skipped a beat, her body tensing as she cautiously got out of bed.
She padded across the room, her breath catching in her throat when she saw the familiar sight of Kara standing on the balcony, clad in her Supergirl suit. The moonlight illuminated her tousled, windswept blonde hair, and the suit accented her lean physique and the well-defined muscles beneath the suit. Her blue eyes shimmered in the night, and her lips curled into a beautiful smile that made Lena's heart race.
"Kara, hi. What are you doing here?" Lena managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kara's smile widened, her eyes glinting with a playful sparkle. "Hey, Lena. I was on patrol nearby and I'm absolutely exhausted. Do you mind if I crash here?"
Lena's mind was a whirlwind of emotions, but all she could muster was a simple, "No, not at all."
Lena let Kara into her penthouse. Kara often crashed at Lena's after game nights or movie nights but this felt different somehow.
Lena handed Kara a pair of her sweats and a t-shirt, their fingers briefly grazing against each other, sending a shiver of electricity through Lena's veins.
"Thanks, Lena," Kara said appreciatively before disappearing into the bathroom to change. Lena watched the closed door, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts. She took a seat on the edge of her bed, the anticipation building as she waited for Kara to emerge.
The moments ticked by, each second feeling like an eternity as Lena's heart raced. The quiet rustling of fabric signaled Kara's return, and Lena's breath caught as she looked up to see Kara stepping out of the bathroom, dressed in Lena's clothes. The clothes were slightly short on Kara, exposing a tantalizing glimpse of her toned abs. Lena's throat went dry, and she swallowed hard, her heart pounding in her chest, her fingers itching to trace the path of those well-defined muscles..
She had always known that her feelings for Kara ran deeper than the love one felt for a friend, a truth she had carefully kept hidden behind carefully constructed walls of friendship, but in moments like this, she struggled to keep her feelings at bay.
Normally, Kara would retire to one of the guest rooms, and Lena had assumed tonight would be no different. But to Lena's surprise, Kara moved with graceful purpose, sliding into Lena's bed as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Despite the many nights they had spent under the same roof, Kara had never slept in Lena's bed. This was something Lena had never even dared to imagine, even in her wildest dreams.
With cautious steps, Lena slipped under the covers, settling beside Kara. The bed seemed impossibly small, the space between them charged with an electric tension. Kara turned onto her side, facing Lena, and Lena mirrored her position, their gazes locked.
"Goodnight, Lena," Kara whispered, her breath ghosting over Lena's lips before she closed her eyes.
"Goodnight, Kara."
Lena found herself acutely aware of Kara's presence beside her. With her eyes closed, she tried to find a sense of calm, allowing the rhythm of Kara's breath to guide her.
As time passed, Lena felt herself gradually relaxing, the softness of the moment easing the usual restlessness that plagued her nights. The fear of nightmares still lingered, but it felt distant.
She felt herself surrendering to sleep. The sound of Kara's steady breathing became comforting.
In the quiet darkness of the room, Lena's consciousness slipped away, her mind finally finding a respite from the torment of her past. As sleep claimed her, the usual nightmares were conspicuously absent.
--
The soft, warm rays of morning light gently filtered through the curtains, casting a serene glow over the room. Lena stirred, gradually awakening from the depths of slumber, her senses slowly coming to life. The sensation that enveloped her was one of warmth and security, a comfort she hadn't experienced in a long time.
She realised that Kara's arms were tightly wrapped around her and her body was pressed against Lena's back, their forms fitting together as if they were two pieces of a puzzle perfectly aligned.
Lena's heart danced within her chest as she felt Kara's breath ghosting against the back of her neck, a sensation that sent shivers of delight down her spine. The intimacy of the moment was intoxicating and left her heart racing dangerously.
Kara stirred beside her, her movements slow and gentle. Lena could hear a soft, almost inaudible mumble from Kara, the sound of her voice tugging at Lena's heartstrings. "Oh, sorry," Kara's voice was a gentle whisper.
Lena felt a twinge of disappointment as Kara began to extricate herself from their embrace.
As Lena turned to look at Kara, her eyes were met with a sleepy smile that seemed to illuminate the entire room. Lena's heart skipped a beat as she took in the sight of Kara's tousled hair and the soft lines of her face.
"Morning," Kara's voice was soft and sleepy.
Lena's fingers itched to reach out, to brush away the hair that had fallen across Kara's forehead, to trace the delicate curve of her cheek. But a sense of shyness held her back, a lingering hesitation that reminded her of the boundaries Lena had always maintained.
--
Over the course of the next two weeks, Lena's life took an unexpected turn. To her immense surprise and relief, Kara seemed to find a reason, however small, to spend every single night in Lena's bed. It was a pattern that quickly became a comforting routine. Each evening, as the world outside dipped into the embrace of night, Kara would slip into Lena's bed, a shield against the haunting nightmares that had held Lena captive for far too long.
Lena's waking moments became increasingly filled with the sense of Kara's proximity. She would wake up each morning wrapped in Kara's strong arms, the gentle rise and fall of her chest against Lena's back serving as a soothing reassurance. The nightmares, which had once been an unrelenting torment, remained at bay, their usual grip loosening with every passing night.
Lena reveled in the comfort of Kara's embrace and her eyes often lingered on Kara's serene features as they lay tangled together under the covers. Yet, amidst the warmth of Kara's presence, Lena was fighting her feelings.
Lena's feelings for Kara deepened with every night they spent together, the lines between friendship and something more becoming more blurred each night. She found herself captivated by Kara's laughter, drawn to the way her eyes sparkled when she shared stories of her day, enchanted by her bashful grace.
But Lena couldn't ignore the growing questions that tugged at her thoughts. Why was Kara staying over so often? The skepticism that had once colored her perception of others now cast a shadow over her moments of happiness. Lena's heart raced, her mind a whirlwind of uncertainty as she tried to make sense of the situation.
One evening, as they sat together on Lena's couch, wrapped in a blanket and sipping tea, Lena's resolve solidified. The time had come to breach the subject that had been gnawing at her. She looked at Kara, her gaze a mixture of curiosity and concern. "Kara, is everything okay?"
Kara turned her head to meet Lena's eyes, her expression serene yet guarded. "Mm, yes, why?"
Lena's lips twitched into a half-smile, the tension in the room palpable. "You've spent the last fourteen nights here. Is there something going on? Not that I don't love having you stay over—I really do. But if you're having problems with your apartment or something, I can help."
Kara's blue eyes flickered, her gaze momentarily shifting before she leaned in closer to Lena. Her fingers, warm and tender, slipped beneath Lena's shirt, tracing a path over the jagged scar on Lena's abdomen. Lena's breath hitched as Kara's touch sent shivers of sensation through her.
"You know every night on patrol, I fly past your penthouse to check on you? Just to listen to your heartbeat and make sure you're okay." Kara's voice held a mix of vulnerability and sincerity, her fingertips mapping the contours of Lena's scar as if tracing a roadmap of the past. "Especially since everything with Lex, since he hurt you. I heard your nightmares every night, Lena, and it pained me to see you so broken. And when I stayed over that first night, I noticed that the nightmares didn't come. So I thought maybe if I stayed over, you could sleep better."
Lena's eyes glistened with unshed tears as Kara's words sank in, the depth of Kara's care astounding to her. She felt a lump forming in her throat.
"Sorry," Kara continued, "I know I should have told you, but I know you would think that I was inconveniencing myself or something. But I'm not. I want you to be okay, Lena, and I'll do anything for you. If I could undo what happened, I would. But I can't, so this is something I can do for you."
Lena was speechless. Tears pricked at the corners of Lena's eyes as Kara's words washed over her, a wave of emotions crashing against the walls she had carefully constructed around her heart. Kara's selflessness had left her utterly stunned, and Lena realized that no one had ever cared for her so deeply, so unconditionally before. She couldn't hold back the tears that spilled from her eyes, the floodgates of her emotions breaking open.
Kara. Sweet Kara. Always there for Lena, always looking out for her. Lena had never felt such profound love before.
Moved beyond words, Lena leaned forward, her heart pounding against her chest. Her hand found Kara's, their fingers intertwining. Kara's gaze on her held her captive.
The floodgates of vulnerability opened, and before she could think, before she could second-guess herself, she acted on the feelings she had been hiding for so long.
Lena leaned forward, her heart pounding in her chest as she pressed her lips against Kara's. The kiss was a confession, an unspoken declaration of every feeling she had hidden behind those walls for so long.
Kara froze for a second and Lena's heart stopped, but just as quickly, her lips began moving against Lena's- a soft, desperate kiss. There was a vulnerability in the way Kara kissed her back, a raw honesty that stripped away any doubts Lena may have had. Her heart felt like it was going to explode. Kara was kissing her back and in that moment, nothing else mattered.
Time seemed to stand still as their lips moved against each other. Lena's fingers trembled as they found their way to Kara's cheek, her touch gentle and filled with wonder. The taste of Kara's lips was a revelation.
As the kiss finally drew to a close, Lena pulled back slightly, her eyes fluttering open to meet Kara's gaze.
"Thank you," she whispered, “for being here.”
And Kara smiled that blindingly beautiful smile, and whispered, "Always" before crashing her lips against Lena's once more.

The morning after the Luthor Courthouse Scandal, every tabloid in National City – Kara is willing to bet on every tabloid in the world, but she’s not willing to check – is featuring a full color high resolution photo of Supergirl kissing Lena Luthor directly on the mouth in front of the National City courthouse. Kara encounters one on the news stand outside of CatCo and hesitates for a moment, the expression on Lena’s face in the photograph pulling at her in a way she can’t quite define, and then she forces herself to keep walking. There’s no reason, she tells herself, to give that kind of thing any attention. They both did what they had to do to protect Lena, who in turn did what she had to do to protect Kara, and it’s done. It should stay in the past where it belongs.
But CatCo, too, is running a photograph of The Kiss, and by the time Kara makes it to her desk she understands this is going to be an unavoidable topic for at least the next 72hrs. Fine. Her first ping of the day is from Nia, includes one of the photographs, and is composed almost entirely of question marks.
Kara replies with a shrug.
Nia asks when they can sneak away to get coffee.
But coffee is delayed by an attack on L-Corp, which is handled almost smoothly by Lena’s security team, but not quite. Kara stumbles out of the CatCo building and onto the roof in a panic and throws herself into the sky. Upon arrival at L-Corp she’s surprised to find that the words “get away from my wife” pour out of her as easily as breath.
In the aftermath, Lena is flushed and trembling, her heart racing, the rhythm of it all but drowning out the DEO arrest taking place at Kara’s back. Kara reaches out a hand to help her up.
“You’re okay?”
Lena nods. “Nice save,” she says. “Just in time.”
“That’s me,” Kara says with a grin. “Just in time is my middle name.”
“Justin-Time is kind of a weird middle name,” Lena teases, “Even for an alien.” Before Kara can answer, Lena darts forward to press a warm, precise kiss to her cheek, just brushing the corner of her mouth. For a moment Kara’s own thundering heart drowns out Lena’s, and then Lena is gone, seeing to the cleanup and the redistribution of her busy schedule around the events of the morning. Kara doesn’t remember seeing cameras, but somehow there’s a photo of the cheek kiss on the internet by evening anyway.

“KARA!” Lena screamed. I killed her, Lena grieved.
She didn’t have time to linger as Eve attacked her again, Lena throwing one last punch before she found herself scrambling out of her jet. The explosion killed her, Lena’s mind shouted, thrashing in agony, a litany of damnation that she should never have brought Kara to Kaznia in the first place. It’s all my fault.
But to her astonishment, in the dark, a figure shifted ahead - blonde and burning and bright, and Lena thought for half a second to run back for the fire extinguisher, that Kara might be saved.
But as the figure turned, somehow unaffected by the flames that adorned her like a god, Lena halted. Kara looked concerned, confused. But she didn’t look injured.
Lena’s eyes drifted lower, to the bright S now etched on Kara’s chest, solid blue emerging amidst her burnt clothing. “Kara…”
“Lena,” Kara breathed, reluctance written on her face.
Lena hesitated a moment longer, before taking step after careful step, approaching the reporter as the embers continued to burn across her body. Lena’s hand drifted to the top of the suit’s crest, just below Kara’s neck, where yellow met red. Oh.
It was too much - the whiplash of the explosion, thinking that Lena had carelessly killed her best friend, to realizing that the reporter had once thrown that’s not a great question for a Luthor to ask someone in my family back in her face.
Kara Danvers was her best friend. Did she ever really exist?
“Lena…” Kara whispered again.
Lena dropped her hand, her eyes raised to Kara’s, looking her over again. “Don’t,” she said. Without another word, Lena turned on her heel, and went back to her jet.
-----------
The flight back from Kaznia was longer alone.
Plenty of time for Lena to fume and grieve, for her to rage internally at weathering yet another deceit. Kara Danvers - or whatever the hell she was really called - had used her, betrayed her, spied on her.
Somewhere in the back of Lena’s mind, there was a different acknowledgment - that her glide ratio in her custom-designed jet was good, but not good enough to reach the Kaznian runway when the engines had failed. That her assumption at the time that mountain updrafts had saved her ran contrary to the now-more-obvious explanation - that the kryptonian had saved her from aviation incidents three times now.
Lena looked out the side of the window, where dawn was slowly rising. She desperately needed sleep, but was too wired from watching her best friend be blown up - and then revealed to be a traitor - and sleep was just… not going to happen.
Lena could swear that she was seeing glints of red and blue, just behind her plane, a kryptonian possibly trying to stay out of sight while still being protective. It was infuriating.
-----------
It’s not Kara, Lena’s mind begged, trying to convince herself that the dead kryptonian was the clone she had learned about in Kaznia. It can’t be Kara.
It was with overwhelming horror that Lena watched the footage of Kaznia’s failed invasion, her brother parading around a dead kryptonian in his lexosuit arms, the supposed traitor Supergirl.
He was a hero. For killing her. It can't be Kara. It can’t it can’t it can’t-
Trying to still her trembling fingers, Lena picked up her phone, trying to figure out what to text, what to say, anything to get a response from the kryptonian that she had shut out. Operating out of instinct more than logic, she pressed Kara’s name to start a call instead, holding it up to her ear, her stomach twisting with nausea.
But luckily, it only took one ring before Lena heard a familiar voice on the other end. “Lena,” Kara said softly
Lena pulled the phone away, and hung up.
-----------
There was no other choice in her mind. Not when Lex had regained legitimacy in the eyes of the country by “saving” it from Supergirl’s attack. Not when Lex sought to commit a secret genocide to solve the energy crisis and be named a hero. Not when Lena was the only person who would know where Lex would go.
Not when all Lena could see was Lex cradling Red Daughter in his arms.
The image was burned into her mind, and all Lena knew was that Kara was next - Lex would not rest until every kryptonian was gone. And Kara would be too kind and noble to seek anything but legal justice. But that wasn’t Lena - it wasn’t Lena when she decided to kill Morgan Edge, it wasn’t Lena when she decided to kidnap her mother from prison and poison her, it wasn’t Lena when she tucked her gun in her belt that morning.
A single bullet to the head, and Lex was gone.
-----------
Kara’s door opened just a few seconds before Lena reached it. Lena supposed Kara could hear her down the hall.
Lena ignored the shock and concern on Kara’s face as she stepped inside, making her way to Kara’s window as Kara closed the door. Truth was, she still couldn’t face Kara at all.
“I’m sorry, Lena,” Kara started. “I tried to save-”
“Don’t,” Lena said.
Kara grew quiet, flanking Lena’s side, joining her as Lena stared out onto the streets below. Lena shifted. “I thought she was you,” Lena said. “When Lex killed her, I thought she was you.”
She could feel Kara shrink, uncertain of what to say, of how to move forward. And maybe Lena didn’t know either. But she could try. If… “Is Kara real?” Lena asked, her voice cracking. “Or just a mask?”
“I’m real,” Kara whispered, prompting Lena to finally turn. And Lena couldn’t help herself, seeking the warmth of Kara’s arms, the kryptonian all too happy to wrap Lena in a tight hug as Lena stepped into it. “I… sometimes I feel more real with you than anyone else.”
Lena swallowed harshly, burying her face into Kara’s shoulder, holding back a tremble. “I want to believe you.”
“I’ll spend a lifetime trying to prove it,” Kara whispered. “If you’ll let me.”
Lena took a slow, trembling breath. “Okay.”
