it’s slowly approaching my favorite time of the year <3

things on the agenda today:

• preparing for tomorrow’s exam

• internship tasks

• meetings with supervisor

• journaling

today was relatively pleasant, recently ive been babysitting my neighbors cat and its been so nice, im gonna miss him a lot when he goes back. uni has been hectic to the point of me not being able to keep up all that well but ive gotten a good chunk of it done, ive just got an essay due 26th and a quiz on behavioral neuroscience tomorrow, ive revised the material for it beforehand so i feel pretty okay with it right now, just need to revise it one more time today. i did my notes this morning at uni and my boyfriend said he wanted a break. i pretend like it doesnt bother me but in reality it really pisses me off. but when things get really hard or whatever, i just distract myself by studying :3

week 4 - 03.07.2025 🧿

This week has been interesting to say the least. Started Monday off strong with world religion work & my seated race and ethnicity class. Spent some time in the library browsing history and art books! I also started painting a table that was gifted to us.

My Tuesday was spent in the hospital :// but we push through.

Back to productivity on Wednesday. I also studied Saints for Ash Wednesday!

Studying religious pieces for my art class led to writing about La Sagrada Familia, in Spain. I’ve never seen such a beautiful church in my life. I spent a lot of personal time researching into it, i’d love to see it in person one day :,)

if murder and homicide are so similar, then what is manslaughter?

Every scenario listed below is homicide, regardless of criminality.

If you lure a civilian into the woods and then proceed to hunt and kill them for sport, that is First Degree Murder (planned out; intent to kill; emotional state irrelevant).

If someone unexpectedly walks in on you while you're doing something unbecoming and you proceed to kill them before they can tell anyone else, that is Second Degree Murder (unplanned; intent to kill; stable emotional state).

If your father-in-law stops by for the third time this week to wax poetic to you about how you're a stain on his daughter's life and so you throw the nearest object at him as penance for how much he sucks but his weak skull can't handle the force of your period-accurate replica metal canteen and he dies, that is Third Degree Murder (unplanned; intent to harm; stable emotional state).

If there's this fake, lying, conman "psychic" whose single motivation seems to be embarrassing you in the very field you've spent your whole life dedicating yourself to and none of the rational adults around you really care that he's a fraud and in fact they appear to like him even MORE than they like you and it drives you slowly insane until the man is plaguing your thoughts every waking moment, even tormenting you in your dreams, and then one day you walk into work and he's holding your favorite antique derringer with his Cheeto-dust fingers and as he proceeds to casually inform you that ever since he forgot it was in his pocket and let it go a cycle in the washing machine it doesn't shoot anymore, something inside you snaps and you strangle him to death right there in the middle of the precinct, that is Voluntary Manslaughter (unplanned; intent to harm; heightened emotional state).

If you're trying to do some pest control but the squirrel on your fence dodges your bullet, resulting in it instead hitting and killing your neighbor across the street, that is Involuntary Manslaughter (unplanned; no intent to harm; emotional state irrelevant).

If you manage to kill the enraged head detective who currently has his hands around your lying throat, that is Self Defense and it is Not A Crime.

If I, as an officer of the law, make the informed decision to use lethal force in service of those I've sworn to protect, presuming I'm doing my job right, that is Not A Crime.

Other examples of non-criminal homicide include assisted suicide and lawful execution, though as with most things, there are edge cases that can result in other forms of homicide being deemed permissible. This isn't even getting into factors like neglect and extension of blame, and many cases could fit into multiple categories depending on perspective and perceived narrative.

i realize this looks finished, but technically i'm still deciding whether to add a background or not lol. still, for the sake of sharing a proper WIP, here's a line or two from an araleyn brainworm WIP that i started reworking yesterday (mild tw for religious guilt and period-typical internalized homophobia from aragon's pov):

She remembers sharing her bed with Anne at Henry's behest, remembers the nights of tossing and turning and trying not to think about Anne asleep next to her-- remembers waking up to dark hair spilling across her pillow and the press of blood-warm bosoms against her own, softer than sin, as hot as the Devil, remembers lying still as death, mouthing prayers into the heat of Anne's neck like an act of penance.

i've been around on studyblr for about 7/8 years but I decided to start afresh on a new blog since it's been a while.

I'm a final year criminology & sociology student in the uk. I'm doing my dissertation on perceptions of public opinions of sentencing!

after graduating, I'll be taking a year out to save up and get some volunteering/work experience before applying for a masters in psychology (conversion)!

I'd like to be a clinical psychologist :)

13.09.2024—being discharged home today, looking foreword to being back in my own space. final diagnosis for this admission is adhd and unspecified psychosis

postgraduate student life is ignoring the ungodly amounts of academic work you are lagging behind on to watch a stupid show so you don’t feel as sad about where your life is going

so fucking happy that i was able to complete both development psychology and theoretical paradigm of psychology notes today, this means i can spend tomorrow studying them both and prepping for the quiz on monday and tuesday :3

besides working on my notes all day i had tutoring which was really fun, i started this online course on coursera for academic writing, because i feel super not confident at my writing skills and id like to improve, especially with academic writing. my tutor assigned me this book to read to get me started on my essay due at uni, im looking forward to reading it!! besides that i had my internship where we discussed case studies and psychological disorders! we got quizzed on them and i think i did pretty well

tomorrow i plan on revising and reading the book my tutor assigned me, along with my internship and maybe ill sneak in a little walk with a little treat for my wellbeing heh

1/100 days of productivity (again)

hey again! trying this for the umpteenth time, hoping to actually succeed in getting past ten days. i realized one of my major blocks was the picture aspect of things, so i've made the executive decision to not require pictures of my day in order to post, though i do prefer them. i just never took pictures of what i was doing, so when i got to the end of the day i never felt like i could post!

i recently changed to double major with psychology! big news for me lol

as for what i did today, i accomplished a lot! i:

went to shabbat

picked up my meds

took all my meds on time!!!!

set up my to-do list and planner for tomorrow

went to group

facilitated a second group

pulled out my ITJ books and continued reading

started reading "Border Abolition Now" by Sara Riva

overall a pretty successful day!!

📖 "infinite jest" by david foster wallace. what a fucking brick of a book. excited to get through this one!

🎼 in the end it always does by the japanese house. super cool album, i'm in love with the vibe. it's been on repeat for a few days now.
