In short. This woman, Naima(@naiemasblog) is struggling beyond what many of us could ever imagine.

You don't need to be a mother to imagine how desperate to save her children she is. Her family has 17 members. Would you not go to the ends of the earth to help your own family in this position?

People in Palestine have been under the thumb of Israel attacks because of the war against Palestine and Israel. Israel's side of the war is using lethal force against Palestinian people and bombing towns full of citizens. This has been going on for months and months. So much bombing has taken place that almost everywhere is destroyed. The Gaza Strip is one of the last places people can go for any kind of refuge, and even now, there's still bombing taking place. There's hardly any refuge or food, the hospitals are suffering due to limited power, and many people do not have the money to leave. That is why they need our help. Outside of Gaza, there are refugee stations and help centers to help shelter the escaped Palestinians, but they have to get there first. And in order to do that, they need someone to help get them the money, that's where we, as people outside of Gaza- many of us living in America which actively funds Israel- come in! It's our time to do something, and all of us are able to do something even if it's small.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your immense generosity and unwavering support for me, my family, and our cats. I deeply appreciate your noble spirit in helping us through these challenging times.

I apologize for the delay in updating you on our situation. My family and I are deeply touched by each and every donation, which brings us comfort and eases our hardship during this ordeal.

After the ceasefire announcement, we had hoped to return to our home, a place that would shield us from the bitter cold and allow us to live like everyone else in the world. However, we were shocked by the sheer devastation we witnessed in my city of Rafah, particularly in our neighborhood of Tal Al Sultan.

The family home where we had a small apartment was partially destroyed, rendering it uninhabitable. It's surrounded by massive piles of rubble, making our street look like a ghost town.

About five years ago, our family decided to pool all our savings and invest in building a new house, which we fondly called "The Dream home." We purchased a plot of land and began constructing a two-story house with a small garden for my mother, who loves gardening and raising poultry. We were close to finishing it when the machinery of destruction turned our dream into ashes.

Our beautiful farm (the land) , which was our last hope and located a bit away from the military operations zone, has now turned into a pile of sand and rubble , its trees reduced to firewood. This destruction was the final blow that made us weep bitterly for those trees, the poultry, and the cats that used to live happily with us. That shattered our dreams of ever returning home.

Sadly , We are still living in tents in the Mawasi Khan Yunis area, and we can't even go back to see our neighborhood safely. The area is extremely dangerous because it's close to the Egyptian border ( Philadelphia Corridor) , from which they have not yet withdrawn until this update .

I know this has been a lengthy explanation, but I needed to explain everything to you in detail.

I hope you will continue to support and help us in our efforts to rebuild a small home where we can live safely, like any other human being. A home is the most basic human right, which we now lack.

Save us from the bitter cold, and alleviate our pain and suffering. Stand by us and support us, for you are my family.

I feel like the overwhelming amount of hockey romance is also part of the far right wave. I’m not sure I can exactly justify why, but I feel it.

I don't read a lot of hockey romance, and I tend to prefer queer hockey romance when I do (based off what I have read) but I do think there's a reason why hockey romance is biiiig in romance novels when sports that probably bring in more money (soccer, basketball) and/or are bigger in the country wherein the books are often set (NFL for US-set books). Hockey is one of the whiter sports out there. That's just... the way it's gone.

And as someone who doesn't follow hockey but does enjoy watching it (and would follow it, probably, if I had people to watch it with) I do find it like, romance-compatible. The dudes are usually scruffier, they are Big, the sport kind of allows fighting to a degree that you don't see with the others (even NFL players get more heavily penalized for fighting than hockey players). Like, I get it.

I also feel that because hockey is less Known for a lot of readers, it's easier to romanticize. I say this, thinking of all the women on BookTok who felt Super Special about certain players (until things blew up). While hockey obviously has a massive fanbase, at least in the US (which is again where a lot of books are based and where a lot of romance's English-speaking readership resides, for better or worse) it's not as well-covered as the NFL or NBA by a long shot. I think we're made much more aware of those players' scandals, their bad personalities, the weird (bad) cultures within those sports. And when you and your entire group of friends don't know shit about the sport, you can sorta slide in and live in your romanticized bubble.

Whereas.... to use a recent example of a certain fandom suddenly caring about football because their girl started dating a man in the twilight of his career... and being baffled as to why a certain team got clobbered at a certain event... when if you knew anything about the sport you'd know the surprise was less that they flopped and more that the refs didn't save them like they had all season... When you're outside your "bubble" and interacting with a sport, it becomes less fun because legit fans call you on sounding like a dumbass lol. That is how sports work. It is actually very nerdy.

But the whiteness is a HUGE part of it too. Probably the main part for a lot of readers.

Which doesn't mean people can't enjoy their hockey books. I have enjoyed some! Heated Rivalry and The Long Game are two all-time favorite romances for me. Though of course, they're about an interracial relationship between two men, so I don't know that they're quite the same.

However, we can enjoy things and also analyze them. Romance reflects society, and society is Real Weird at the moment.

Or does this happen at the same time, and we the readers just don't see when Lancelot returns?

Lancelot felt too much guilt (yes here we go again LOL he feels too much) and he couldn't face MC. He talked to Naima before she went to comfort MC.

Luceris and Lancelot's discussion ended when Luceris went to MC again and Naima's scene happens after Luceris finally leaves MC alone so Lancelot spoke to her while Luceris was in there again.

hm also been really enjoying the idea of Damien being kept in the dark about things/not being given the full picture of what happened when he was "gone" that get harder and harder to hide from him, such as:

a mock-funeral service held when it became less and less likely he would return alive/at all

Valerius needing to step down from being consul not just because of the grief but because half of the city suspected that he had something to do with Damien's disappearance

Donna & Valerius separating for a considerable amount of time after said funeral because Donna blamed him (and the others) too (in a 'you were supposed to take care of him' way and not a 'we think you totally got rid of your weird magic son to save face' way)

Nadia being the one to never really forgive Donna for turning their back on her and Vesuvia and just leaving them all behind

Relationship: Family - Mireya Quinlan

??? †? - The man widely believed to be Mireya's father. He abandoned his wife and daughter when Mireya wasn't even one year old after finding out that she wasn't his child, though Mireya's mother makes excuses citing that, 'he couldn't give her what she wanted'. It's unknown if he is alive or not, but Mireya doesn't care enough to find out more about him...

Jimena Moto (59 Years Old) - Mireya's mother, and the woman whom she hopes to never emulate. From an early age, she saw fit to control every aspect of Mireya's life, from what she was allowed to eat or drink, from what she was allowed to wear, from how she was allowed to sit, how to stand, how to speak, everything. She also dragged Mireya around to numerous beauty pageants, parading her around like a doll to be displayed. Besides finding her overbearing, Mireya also found her to be hypocritical, stating she wasn't allowed to date until she was 18, despite the fact that she switched men on a bi-weekly basis. Having enough of her rules, Mireya ran away from home and hasn't heard from her mother since. It's unknown what she is doing these days.

Ashlyn "Doll Face" Mitchell - The owner of the Coyote Ugly bar that Mireya worked at for several years after running away from home. A former call girl who got sick of having some 'john' telling her what to do, she quit working as a prostitute and managed to open up a Coyote Ugly bar in Sin City. Sympathetic because of her past, she hired any girls who came to her seeking refuge, teaching them how to dance and seduce men in order to earn profits. She was upset when Mireya left the bar, but understood her reasoning. To this day, she is still in charge of her bar and is doing rather well for herself.

Naima "Gypsy Queen" Masabni (32 Years Old) - A dancer in the Coyote Ugly bar that Mireya worked in. Born and raised in the Middle East to strict, religious parents, she was often abused, verbally and physically, throughout her childhood for not adhering to her family's ways or behaving in a way that they considered 'immoral' or 'blasphemous'. Having enough, she ran away and stowed away on a plane to America, arriving in Las Vegas, where, after an odd adventure, she was picked up by Ashlyn, who made her a dancer for her bar. She sympathized with Mireya because of her similar past, and the two become fast friends, with Naima teaching Mireya how to belly dance. She was sad to see her friend leave the bar, but wished her the best of luck. Mireya still communicates with her to this day, and is pleased to hear that she is currently in school, studying to become a choreographer.

Kai Quinlan (34 Years Old) - Mireya's husband, and the love of her life. The two met while Kai was performing as a DJ in the bar she worked at. After the show, the two began dating before Kai, unfortunately, had to hit the road again. After saving her from the mob in L.A., she married him, and the two are now a power couple in the city of Roppongi. She is eternally grateful to Kai for everything he's done for her, and continues to support him, no matter what.

Zakari Hiroya (22 Years Old) - Mireya's adopted son, whom she met after Kai introduced the two of them. She was shocked when Kai told her that he had planned to adopt him, not the least because the two of them had failed in having a child. Knowing that, it became difficult for Mireya to establish a familial relationship with Zakari at first. After a year together and having a serious talk with him, she began loving him as if he were her actual biological son. The two have a mother-son relationship, with the two of them grateful each other.

Lastly- what do you think of the song 'Brutus' of the Buttress for a revenge seeking, mentally unstable MC (since this seems to be a popular rough cut for many people)? I love how a tinfoil can be made between MC and Luceris, especially Luceris sorta creating a mini him (but worse) with what he did. I love that song!! I see the entire song as a sibling dynamic or mentor and student type of dynamic so I personally can't see it for MC.
