stands in jojo DONT actually punch over and over
if you dont know what jojos is its an anime and im not explaining more than that look it up or something
stands are a manifestation of someones soul sometimes referred to as a guardian angel that also are sometimes literally impossibly strong. for our example, star platinum generates 475,000,000 newtons of force by punching faster than lightning. confused? a normal human punch generates 2400 newtons of force on average. it is literally insane.
of course, this would normally RIP A HUMAN IN HALF, but we'll ignore that and say 'fuck it, anime logic' for now i noticed a very unrealistic thing in jojos panels (i know, crazy) that stands like to punch over and over again, this is called a stand rush. with the force of a half billion newtons, one punch would send FLYING. so the fact that the anime does show SP hitting like 35 times and then sending the target flying is super unrealistic. so i believe what SP is actually doing is doing a PUNCH grab PUNCH grab PUNCH grab like that super duper fast do i have any evidence to back this up? nah, but it makes sense, especially when you realize that grabbing someone pulling them toward you and punching them all at once creates a ton more force. i could absolutely be wrong and SP is just punching really really fast JUST KIDDING i just realized something the characters sometimes speak while they're getting stand rushed. shown here is DIO and Jotaro fighting off and they say "Muda" repeatedly, so for every 5 punches, 1 Muda. From start to finish, give or take. It takes about 0.2 seconds to say 1 Muda, thats perfect, 0.04 for each punch between each punch. good job me however, this could be skewed as it is directly showing them only punching. we're gonna do a little scientific thing called ignoring that this shows in real fights, stands definitely punch grab punch grab!!!!

"The aim of scientific thought, then, is to apply past experience to new circumstances; the instrument is an observed uniformity in the course of events. By the use of this instrument it gives us information transcending our experience, it enables us to infer things that we have not seen from things that we have seen; and the evidence for the truth of that information depends on our supposing that the uniformity holds good beyond our experience." -- William Kingdon Clifford

okay but imagine you are a researcher at the magnus institute looking through the archives for a paper you're writing and one of the statements you're using as a source happens to be on tape so you put it into the tape recorder and this absolute THEATRE KID of a millenial starts girlbossing his way through a spooky story about a soldier being slowly hypnotized by a supernatural mythical representative of war and at the end he abruptly switches off his dramatic voice and returns to "snobby scholar" disses the account entirely and throws in a random but clearly gay snide remark about one of his coworkers for good measure and the tape clicks off after a dun-dun-DUN and at the end of it all youre just sat there completely baffled at this chad of an academic who is apparently so annoyed at the disorganization of his new position that he must mention it seven times per sentence (along with the side comments about that other case with the guy who was haunted by an immortal spider and ended up wrapped in spiderweb post-death TOTALLY COINCIDENTALLY) like "well i can sure use this in my research because it has lots of useful verified information in it and definitely does not exist just so a man can spout his poorly disguised homoerotic yearning out loud into an outdated device full of lo-fi charm"

something that really gets me about the doctor is that if your looking, it’s very obvious that they’re the same person across regenerations. the important things stick- the wit, the thinking under pressure, the emotional constipation, (which gets lessened over time, but that’s less on an on/off regeneration thing than you might think and more of a character arc thing so it further proves my point) their inherent love for humanity, their drama, their nonviolent tendencies.
all the obvious changes between the doctors are surface level, and if you go poking around you find that they’re all really similar to each other. I just love watching different peoples portrayals of one single character, and I think it’s really fun to see that regeneration really is mostly just changing the body, not the soul.

Star Wars: Bad batch - Luscious Locks
[The Bad Batch are sitting down at a table to eat an actual meal] Crosshair: [absolutely disgusted] Hunter, I swear. If I find ONE MORE HAIR in my food… Hunter: Jealous of my luscious locks? 😏 Crosshair: That’s it! I’m shaving you bald. [Under his breath] Never had to deal with this in the empire. Omega: Don’t! Hunter’s senses will be dulled! Hunter: Yeah, Crosshair. Listen to the kid. My- wait. What? Omega: Hunter’s hair amplifies his senses by acting as an extension of his nervous system. Hunter: Oh, really? 😑 What about smell? Omega: Nose hair. Hunter: Sight? Omega: Eyelashes. Hunter: Hearing? Omega: Ear hair. Hunter: …Fashion sense? Echo: Pft! That ‘tactical’ scarf says otherwise. Hunter: It messes with facial recognition! Echo: How? We share the same face. [Hunter and Echo start bickering] Crosshair, to Tech: She’s kidding, right? Tech: Wrecker, don’t touch that! [Leaves without answering] Crosshair: She’s kidding, right?!
