there is something so horrible about destroying churches, or any place of worship. im not even religious. it’s about the fact that people were so devoted, put so much effort into building and decorating and just experiencing this part of their life, that they hold so important. and all that effort is taken away by a fucking bomb

Though there are valid reasons to want characters to have their own identities, I think some people insist too much on the Batfamily having all individual, unique names. This is why the Orphan name persists so much in fandom, or even Wayne Family Adventures - it's a byproduct of seeing 'Batgirl' as transitory and lesser than. This is not only a misunderstanding of Batgirl, but a misunderstanding of legacy mantles. Legacy mantles aren't stepping stones towards individuality, but identities with symbolic and storied histories. Characters can, and sometimes should, end in a legacy role.

It's also interesting that this anti-legacy philosophy is exactly what DC adopted during the New 52. They destroyed virtually every legacy they could, including wiping Tim's Robin history, erasing the JSA, and deleting Cass and Steph's histories. We all agree New 52 was bad, but most people focus on the content/ramifications on a specific character, when it's the philosophy that was wrong. New 52 was an effort to diminish the power of legacy titles, and to dismiss many characters that fall under the legacy umbrella.

Some characters should grow out of their mantles, of course. But that doesn't make the mantle they grow out of less meaningful or important than the mantle they step into. If we want to leave the New 52 behind, we need to leave its anti-legacy philosophy behind, too.

So we have Jackie's association with rabbits (despite her not actually liking them). Jackie's parents gifting Shauna ceramic bunnies. Melissa acting as a stand in for Jackie and therefore a default association with rabbits along with her animal mask during the hunt representing a rabbit. And now Akilah being the one to care for all the rabbits in their camp. And she has shared a vision with Shauna. Van also shared this vision and when her and Tai as adults went to the ice cream parlor they saw a coyote catch a rabbit. Adult Shauna butchering the bunny in her yard that was digging up her garden. Tai in the teen timeline cutting the bunny's throat in an attempt to bring out other tai. Akilah hallucinating the bunnies being dead but then actually killing them.

Adding on from my comment in the replies: the llama in Akilahs dream telling her that everything with teeth bites, her caring for the bunnies, the prey animals, and Mel wearing the bunny mask while attempting to kill Shauna, like she's fighting back for what Shauna did to her and all of them. Something about going for the throat instead of any other way, same thing in vision Shauna had in the shared dream. Akilah being told by Lottie that if Shauna dies they all die and now Akilah being missing in the finale...

Also makes me wonder why we haven't seen any with Javi, considering he's the youngest. But maybe because he was more vulnerable than the team because of his age, it was all lost once he saw his father dead in the tree. But he was also the closest to Shauna, not as much Jackie or Melissa but similar... often following her around taking inspiration to make something because of her, then him being the first person she has to butcher

Something about how herbivores undergo 'opportunistic carnivory' where if they come across a carcass of an animal, they will eat some of it. This is believed to be a way for them to get nutrients they wouldn't other wise get from a plant based diet. It has been observed in several animals such as deer, horses, and rabbits.

had the idea of adding the glyphs from the owl house onto my denim jacket so I taught myself embroidery and did this as a first project!

here's hoping I'm not gonna randomly glow/freeze/burn alive/have a plant grow out of my shoulder I guess?

they're all about 5 cm in diameter and I personally think the ice glyph came out a little wobbly but it was my first embroidery ever and the fabric on that part of the jacket is also a little wobbly so I'm happy with the result

the lovely yellow lighting in my room is biting me in the ass rn bc the yellow and green are a lot lighter irl and the blue and red are a bit more vibrant

the fire glyph was the last one! I believe there were like two and a half months between finishing the third glyph and starting this one oops (but also yay bc the weather was amazing this weekend so I did a large chunk of the fire glyph while sitting in the sun!)

and a picture of the shoulder while I'm wearing the jacket! though normally the position of the fire glyph falls a little less front-facing (which is great irl bc that way it looks more interesting from the side and back instead of just from the front)
