Acne is separated from "another skin condition" just because it's so common that I suspect separating it will yield more useful responses about other, less common/less known skin conditions.

I can't speak on everyone's experiences, but seeing the commercials for vitiligo meds makes me angry. I knew a girl who tried to kill herself with a shotgun & literally blew a hole through her midsection because of hers. Our oldest (17) has vitiligo. It's a completely harmless condition. & pharma companies want to capitalize on making people with vitiligo "normal". Not to mention all the side effects, possibly fatal, trying to make people feel shame over a harmless condition.

Shoutout to all the other skin condition havers out there - it isn't the worst currently, but I have Excema, and these spot recently reappeared on my neck, and eyelids. With, or without it, I think I (and my outfit) look great.

I often think when I have flare-ups that it makes me look awful, gross, or infectious most days, even making me hesitate to venture into public, but I've been starting to feel better. Skin conditions don't make you scary, bad, or wrong - they're just things you live with.

Hey does anyone know of a site like CurlScan (a site that tells you if a product is Curly Girl approved) for Rosacea???? I'm just so overwhelmed looking through the ingredients on every single product I go to buy. I just want to wear sunscreen without my face feeling like it's on fire and be able to type in the name of the product to find out whether it's going to give me hives/acne/a rash/etc

A bit of a family tree, slowly working on it but have the ref sheets for the children of Kolka and Draco. Kovu gets his blue eyes from his grandparents on Draco's side, Naught gets her mothers eyes (though darker due to Draco's dark eyes), and Vail gets his eyes from his father, though they're brighter due to his mother's eyes. Vail also has a bit of vitiligo from his mother and it was aggravated from a strong hit to the head.

Technically all of the children have vitiligo in their genetics but Vail is the only one who has his actually show.

Guys, some advice, please stop calling all skin discoloration Vitiligo I’ve had so many people irl say “oh I see you have Vitiligo” when 1, you don’t know how they feel about it! Get to know them and let them initiate before pointing it out and 2, Spots =/= vitiligo!! Some other conditions that can cause skin spots: Tinea versicolor - Spots caused by your skin producing more yeast, it is treatable and the spots come in several colors. The yeast colonies can move but can’t spread to others, they don’t usually hurt but can be itchy if you have sensitive skin Melasma - Brown/grey freckle like patches on the face and skin caused my hormonal changes and sun exposure, there’s no treatment and it can grow over time. It does not hurt, it is not skin cancer although it can look similar to other conditions Rosacea - Facial redness that may look like acne or blushing, this may be caused by abnormal blood vessels and can flare up and unpredictable times from food/drink responses to emotional responses to allergies. Solar lentigines (algae spots) - Small brown patches on the skin caused by sun exposure that can cluster and may cause slight itchy ness Diabetes - causes small clustered bumps and discoloration that can appear anywhere, they are usually not problematic but need treatment if excessively itchy or if they get infected No, there is nothing wrong with having Vitiligo or any other skin condition. Asking questions politely is fine, but with any medical condition the focus is on POLITE, some of these conditions make people very self conscious and should be handled with care
