Hi! So this question is about from the past last update of book 7... hehe... it's pretty funny since I'm only gonna ask about the scene where Grim was about to sneeze after inhaling some sort of dust?? And we can get either silver or sebek to react to help him. Do you know what they did? Based on choices?
Hello~
So I'm assuming you're talking about part 7-67?
They're passing through an abandoned mine in order to avoid the "Iron Men" and Lilia says to be careful because there could still be monsters nearby.
Grim says that hearing "mine" and "monsters" makes him think about the beginning of the school year. He starts talking about the incident but then he says his nose is getting itchy
[A: Grim, stop!]
*Grim starts to sneeze and Silver quickly covers his mouth*
Silver: I'm sorry, but I had to cover your mouth. It might be dangerous to speak out loud.
...Okay, it seems you've calmed down. I'll take my hand off.
Grim: *teary eyed* Geez, hah....I thought I would run out of breath
Silver: Sorry, I made a rash decision on the spur of the moment.
Grim: You're a lot more powerful than you look....
[B. Something to press-]
Sebek:...Use this. *sigh* You can't even get a handkerchief out quickly.
Grim: *blows nose* Whew, I avoided causing a ruckus. Here's your handkerchief.
Sebek: Don't give it back covered with your drool! It should be common sense to wash it, take out the wrinkles, and fold it up before returning it!
Grim: What a sensitive guy...Even if I don't wash it before returning it, it doesn't really matter since this is a dream right? It would be meaningless once we wake up.
Sebek: It's a matter of consideration! Hey, Yuu! You keep this handkerchief.
I actually didn't click the space that shows this scene during my first playthrough, so thanks for making me check it out! ~🌻

hi there!! idk if you've answered this before, but did the 5 student overblots happen over the span of 5 months ? one happening each month ? idk if im misremembering but I was sure that in book 6 that was mentioned, yet I can't find the chapter it's in. im assuming since the twst school year starts in september, riddle was the first, with vil being the last OB before book 6 sometime in january, but im not 100% sure
Hello hello! Thank you for this question!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am not sure if we can pinpoint that overblots have been happening at a pace of exactly once a month, but as you say in Book 6 we learn from Idia that there have been five overblots "in less than six months," which he says on the same day as he overblots himself!
Tumblr media
The Main Story will occasionally drop hints about the timeline: we know that the start of the school year is in September, and Cater mentions mentoring new students in Book 1 (in reference to the prefect, Grim, Ace and Deuce), so it does seem like Book 1 takes place in September!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also know that the Interdorm Spelldrive Tournament of Book 2 is in October and Book 3 begins with the final exams of the year (typically held at the end of November in real life, but not actually specified in game).
Book 4 begins on the last day of the fall semester and ends with Ace and Deuce wishing the prefect Happy New year, as they are reuniting for the first time post-winter vacation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The VDC is held in mid-February, and the students are kidnapped by Charon "a few days later!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
An exact, official timeline may not have yet been released anywhere (that I have been able to find), but based on these clues we might be able to guess the following:
September: Riddle Overblot
October: Leona Overblot
November: Azul Overblot
December: Jamil Overblot
February: Vil and Idia Overblot
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Malleus is a little more vague! There is a comment from Lilia and the prefect about it being spring at the beginning of Book 7, and we know that the Interscholastic Spelldrive Tournament is in May!
If the tournament has not yet happened, the timing of Malleus' overblot is presumably sometime between mid-to-late-February and May. If it is also still pre-spring-break, perhaps it was sometime in March? But this is all conjecture! :>

Book 7 Chapter 5
Jamil and Ace Birthday
Master Chef (Leona and Epel)
Glorious Masquerade Rerun (SSR Rollo NEW)
This month is pretty packed and SHOCKING. SSR ROLLO? Well I'm actually not surprised that he'll get a card sooner or later because they hired Kamiya Hiroshi for him, but it's kinda disappointing that there's no GloMas part 2? Since we'll be having a completely new Halloween event based on Pinocchio. I hope his card isn't a FURNITURE CARD like Vil? 😭
When GloMas inevitably comes to EN, I hope they don't run Rollo yet wtf. That'll be 4 SSRs in like, 1 month because Twst EN is insane. I'd try to pull for him if he comes next year, but if it's this year it's gonna be an auto skip since Diaso is my priority. 🥲
On a side note, this probably means the featured non-NRC side characters in the Pinocchio event will have cards at some point! Does this mean... Does this mean there's a glimmer of hope for Crewel SSR??? 🛐 Or even Crowley SSR???

Twst book 7 chapter 4 babbling notes
lots of blabbering and mega spoilers after the cut
Baul
Sebek mentions that he looks quite a bit younger than he does now, but he has no doubt its grandpa baul
Sebek calls him “Baul Zigvolt”, does that mean his parents took his mom’s maiden name when they got married??
Lilia says Baul is the biggest glutton in their company
Sebek says that Baul taught him a lot growing up. He’d often buy books for Sebek, and it was him who instilled a love of reading in bekky
Just like bekky, he loves salmon
Timeline Shenanigans
In the real world, Lilia is about 700 years old and he says he received his invite to NRC over 500 years ago
In the dream, Lilia is about 300 years old
Mal is 178 years old in the real world, but at this time in Lilia’s dream, he is due to hatch in 2-3 years
Silver and Sebek notice the timeline doesn’t match up with how old mal and lilia are. Neither of them know much about Mal’s parents. Whatever happened to them wasn’t recorded in any of the books sebek read about briar valley
Fae Language
The screeching/growling sounds that the masked soldiers are making are actually an old fae language
Sebek is able to understand it (not perfectly, but he understands overall what they are saying), as his mother and grandfather taught it to him
Silver tried learning it from Lilia, but Silver’s ears couldn’t even pick out the words. Sebek said his father said the same thing. Sebek explains that compared to other animals, humans have a limited range of hearing, and since he is descended from fae, he can pick up on minute sounds that humans cannot
Languages and methods of pronunciation differ from one fae species to another, but by imbuing their voices with magic they can all communicate with one another. Presently, many of the fae in briar valley speak a common language, and not many speak the old fae languages.
Silver Owl/Iron Ones
The Silver Owl is a group of humans that invaded the Land of Briar and they are tearing up the forests, destroying the mountains, and generally making a huge mess of things as they excavate the land for magical stones, mystium, gemstones, and other resources
All the members of the group wear iron armor, and that is why the fae have taken to calling their members “the iron ones”
Lilia and the imperial guards have been struggling to drive them out of the country since there are so many of them
They arrived at ”Cape Sunrise”(? 来光岬) about a hundred years ago in just one little sailboat. Their numbers increase in the blink of an eye and they quickly surpassed the fae. They now pretty much dominate the land from the “Canyon of Screaming Winds” (?? 風鳴き渓谷) to the east
Henrick
Leader of the Silver Owl
Lilia describes him as a greedy, vulgar man who’s “big like a barrel”
Spends most of his time relaxing at the fortress and rarely comes out
Knight of Dawn
Commanding officer of the Silver Owl’s guards
An expert swordsman with white armor and golden hair. Even lilia recognizes his strength (though they’ve never fought)
Even the followers of the night fear him
He is said to be very beautiful
He spends most of his time defending the fortress and doesn’t come out west much
He wears a helmet almost all the time. Lilia’s never seen his face
General Vanrouge
Uses 俺 for his first-person pronoun instead of わし like he does now
He says his sense of taste is very sensitive and he can tell right away if something weird has been added to a dish
Says he is about 300 years old
He was an orphan and Queen Maleficia took him in
He thinks that Silver and Co. are envoys from NRC trying to get him to enroll at the school
At one point, Grim whines for some fruit growing high up in a tree, and Lilia uses his magic to get it down without making a sound (there were enemy soldiers in the area). He says he’s only ever missed once when he set his eyes on a target, but doesn’t answer what that was when Sebek asks
While on their way to the fortress, some fae kids recognize Lilia and call out to him. He calls them annoying brats and basically tells them to scram. But the kids say they want to protect the country together with Lilia, and he smirks and lightens up.
At one point he kicks Silver and sends him flying, and Silver falls right in front of some Silver Owl soldiers passing by. They think that Silver must’ve been held prisoner by the fae and that he had escaped and they stop to help him, and then Lilia and the others attack while they’re distracted
One time, when he, Levan, and Mallenoa were kids, they got lost in the forest after getting caught up in another one of Mallenoa’s whims. This was back when they couldn’t fly very well, and there was a thick fog in the forest, and they couldn’t find the way home. Levan was freaking out but Mallenoa was having a great time. The next morning the imperial guards came and found them. Even though they went out there per Mallenoa’s suggestion, Lilia was the one who got an earful for it
They come to a deserted town and recuperate in one of the abandoned homes. They find some spinning wheels, a doll on the floor, and marks on the wall where someone was getting their height measured every year. Lilia scoffs at the mess the kids that lived there must have made. He figures that once Mallenoa’s egg hatches he’s probably going to get babysitting duty shoved on him and be made to clean up after the kid. He says just thinking about it makes him sick. He says he hates children, they’re loud, do what they want, and always cry, and worst of all, they’re weak. He says the thought of having to look after a creature that gets worn out so easily sends a shiver down his spine. Sebek suggests that perhaps Lilia’s mind will change someday, and that he might like to have a family of his own in the future. But Lilia looks at him like he’s grown two heads and says he has no intention of ever running a household. He murmurs, “Until now, and from now on, I…” but doesn’t finish the thought.
Mallenoa (? マレノア)
Queen Maleficia’s one and only daughter and the Lady of Briar Castle (?野ばら城) (To this, Silver gets confused and says “Briar Castle? Not the royal castle in the Dragon Capitol City/Imperial City(?竜の港), Black Scale Castle” (???黒鱗城))
She commands the imperial guards and is the “keystone of the country’s defense”
She ordered Lilia and the guards to deliver a written ultimatum to the Silver Owl demanding they cease their insolent actions at once.
Other delegates have been sent to deliver demands to the silver owl’s fortress before, but one by one they went missing. So instead of having lilia’s company just fly to the fortress, she told them to go on foot and search for the missing delegates and rout any silver owl members along the way
Lilia says she is a tomboy, quarrelsome, hot tempered, and selfish. He calls her the Land of Briar’s most disastrous princess. He says ever since he’s been conscious of his surroundings he’s been wrapped around her little finger for the past 300 years
Levan (? レヴァーン)
Mal’s dad and Mallenoa’s husband. He was an aristocrat and served as the Land of Briar’s diplomat. Title is 龍眼公 (Lit. dragon eye Lord/duke).
His whereabouts are unknown
Tamago-Sama (😭)
in the dream, Mal is currently an egg and is due to hatch in 2-3 years
Dragon eggs will not hatch without their parent’s love and magic poured/concentrated/flowing into them
Silver
He says he doesn’t have his sleeping problems when he is within a dream. He never suddenly falls asleep or anything like he normally does when awake
He says his father brought him to lots of different magical healers growing up but none of them could find out what was wrong and they would all throw in the towel in the end
The silver owl soldiers keep mistaking Silver for somebody else. One knight asks if Silver is here to save them, another says he feels like he recognizes silver from somewhere. Based on the way they address him, whoever they are mistaking him for is someone socially superior to them
At one point, the darkness appears, and silver’s ring starts to glow. The light from the ring dispels the darkness
Lady Leah (? レイア)
Henrick’s little sister
Its rumored that she is in love with the knight of dawn
Ending Scene
The Silver Owl fortress is empty when the group arrives. The door closes behind them and an armored device starts attacking them
After they defeat the device, a fae messenger arrives letting them know that the Briar Castle is under attack by the Silver Owl. Both Henrick and the Knight of Dawn are leading the charge

Love is a Song (Twst fanfic)
**mild SPOILERS for Book 7 chapter 4**
Summary: Children are creatures of love and magic. If so, he’s willing to stay right here and give the last of what little he has.
Word count: 1528
Warning: Referenced character death
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: This is for the event “Anthems of Old” from @briarvalleyarchives. This piece is inspired by the song "Love is a Song" from Bambi. Please feel free to listen to the Midorikawa Hikaru (Lilia's voice actor) cover of this song too! And pls wish me luck in finishing the third fic before the deadline ;~;
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a particularly still and freezing winter night in the remote woods in Briar Valley — or at least, it would have been, until you venture deep enough into the woods to hear the endless waves of a baby screaming and crying from a cottage too small for his enormous tantrum.
Some of Lilia’s bats have already been flying around wobbly since minutes ago due to the overwhelming noise, and Lilia himself is at wits’ end as well.
“Come on, Silver, please,” for the first time in he doesn’t know how long, Lilia pleads, “You are going to cry yourself a sore little throat at this rate.”
His son isn’t a baby who cries particularly much. He suspected it was the weather at first. Silver’s hand felt colder than usual as it grabbed vehemently at Lilia’s fingers, which caused Lilia quite an unsettled frown, considering that a human baby’s body temperature should easily exceed that of a nocturnal fae.
So now he sits with his son on his lap in front of the fireplace, and it only gives him another cause for concern because — considering how weak human constitutions are, let alone that of a human baby’s — the dry air is only going to make his poor boy’s throat that much more painful as the cries go on and on and on.
In all honesty, he has been summoned to the palace tonight, and he is already late. He would very much like to avoid being struck by Malleus’s lightning, or the Queen’s, even if they mean it as a tease more than a punishment. But he could not bring himself to even move from those tiny fingers. What if his sharp black nails rip that soft, rosy skin? What if his inhuman strength snaps that clumsy, fragile hand? What if?
“Please, my dear, I’m only leaving for one night,” Lilia continues to plead, it might be laughable how helpless he sounds in face of his son’s screaming protests, “The bats and the animals will be here with you. You love playing with them, do you not?”
As a thorough proof that he is not listening at all, Silver gives two small coughs and continues his raging screeches.
Letting out a sigh, Lilia glances around the cottage for anything that might help. He sees the clock hands showing that it’s well past Silver’s bedtime, yet the stubborn little baby is having none of that. It does not matter how exhausted he is, he’s determined that he isn’t letting Lilia go anywhere.
Letting out a heavier sigh, Lilia begins searching his memories for the answer to this dilemma.
“Children so young don’t understand our words yet,” her voice said in the dark abysses of his memories, of a time that he thought was too bright yet too painful to recall.
He opens his eyes and he was there again. In the chamber lit by ghastly green candlelight. He was folding his arms as he mumbled, “What a pain.”
She shook her head mockingly, “I’m sure even a stubborn prick like yourself will change your mind once you meet him.” She gestured at the egg she was cradling in her tail with pride.
“He’s just an egg right now. You don’t know that.”
“I know he would love you, Lilia,” she chuckled confidently, “Children are creatures of love and magic. You keep them close, let them feel loved and safe, and they would cling onto you with their tiny little hands and cry for you if you try to leave them.”
“They’re really a pain.”
“And they’re adorable. You’re a caring person with a big heart beneath that nasty tongue of yours. We both trust you to protect him if the need arises, but we trust you more to care for him the way we do when he hatches into this world.”
Lilia would’ve scoffed and told her how misplaced their trust was, if only she wasn’t always right. He didn’t understand what she saw in him, but he couldn’t say she was wrong. “I have never taken care of children before,” that was his attempt to deter her.
“Neither have I,” she admitted. But then she brought her egg close to her chest, and the air began to swell with her magic. The candlelight flickered, and in an instant, they were no longer ghastly, only soft and ephemeral. They seemed to blink with the colour of her voice as her magic flowed into her child, “I know he doesn’t see or hear me yet. But I’ll make sure that he feels me, that he knows I’m right here.”
And what did she do afterwards? Yes, Lilia remembers. He hasn’t done this in the last century or so but he remembers.
He brings Silver close to his chest — she said it’d make children feel safer — and breathes in.
He remembers the notes, the melody, the words. He remembers, and still he trembled. What if his son doesn’t understand the song? What if his voice scares the baby? What if—
‘Children so young don’t understand our words yet.’
“… you’re right.”
‘Just make sure he feels...’
“I’m right here, Silver, I’m right here.”
With the warmth of the fireplace pushing him on, Lilia begins to sing.
Love is a song that never ends
He remembers. He remembers why he stowed this song away in a tiny little attic in his memories like so many other things that belonged to her.
Life may be swift and fleeting
The song… her words were too true. It could bring him into a dream so real that he could almost feel them there again.
Hope may die yet love's beautiful music
But no. That’s not what she wanted to leave behind. It’s her voice, her tone, her presence, that she wanted her son to remember, that Lilia swore to pass on.
Comes each day like the dawn
And the candlelight that outlined her features that day, the glow of her voice that was like the warmth of fire on his skin, is never forgotten, never gone. It’s right there for him to remember.
It wasn’t a light meant for him. But it was a light that touched him and changed him and inspired him nonetheless. And once touched by such a light, it never fades.
So her song will never end. A century ago Lilia had often sung it to Malleus in her stead. Malleus remembers it, hums it, plays it on his violin. Whenever he does, Lilia knows that his mother would always be there with him. And Lilia could look to the night sky and ask her in his heart whether he was doing this right, whether he honoured her trust.
But now it’s different. Lilia lowers his head and gazes at his son, his own child lying snugly in his arms, his own precious little baby now soothed by the song and his voice, finally feeling exhausted from all that crying, and beginning to drift off to sleep.
“May the night bless you,” is a phrase he was so used to repeating after the lullaby, but he holds his tongue. He brings his son close, brushes aside the growing sprouts of silver hair, and leaves a kiss on his forehead.
The sleeping infant soon lets go of Lilia. With magic, Lilia smoothly slips another layer of pyjama onto Silver to keep him warm and places him gently into the crib. And as the sparkles of his magic fades from his child, he wonders — as he so often wonders lately — how much longer would his magic last.
He puts out the fireplace with a flick of his finger. He could’ve sworn when he first found out about his withering body, he was quite ready to join those on the other side of that night sky. But now, he thinks to himself in the darkness, what could he leave behind for his Silver with so little time?
No. He doesn’t need his song to last forever. He doesn’t need to leave anything behind. Wouldn’t it be better if the path that Silver will choose one day has none of Lilia’s footsteps? He frankly doesn’t know.
If she was truly right, and one day Silver would cling onto him and cry for him when he leaves, then at least, he wishes Silver would understand the words he left in this song.
His bats offer to watch over the baby, but he dismisses them softly, pulling up a chair by Silver’s bedside. He wonders — as he so often wonders lately — since when does it feel so simple for his lips to melt into a smile.
Nobody knows how the child is going to grow from now on. All Lilia knows is that, if children are creatures of love and magic, today right here, he’s willing to give the last of what little he has.
Outside the cottage window, the horned visitor hears and watches as the lights dim while Lilia’s garnet eyes continue to glow over the child. Malleus chuckles silently, wondering how amused his grandmother would be to learn of why Lilia was absent that night.

In chapter 7 part 3 when the gang was cooking food for the Lilia, Baul and the soldiers Yuu was also cooking along with Sebek and Silver. Which means they can cook. Has there been any mention of Yuu in previous being able to cook food? Do they take part in MasterChef classes?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think you mean book 7 part 4?? (More specifically, 7-62.) That’s the only instance I can recall of Yuu cooking (but with all the content that TWST now has out, I wouldn’t be surprised if I missed other instances). In any case, if it is mentioned elsewhere, it’s not something that comes up often.
I don’t associate Yuu with cooking for themselves since Grim eats straight out of tuna cans most of the time + we see Yuu eating in the cafeteria frequently. (cbsvwjsnekw Ramshackle is also sort of run-down until the end of book 6, and I’m not sure if Yuu has the pocket money for weekly ingredients??)
While he and Silver are cooking for the troops, Sebek mentions being thankful that he “took Master Chef”, which is an elective students can choose to enroll in. Yuu is then granted two dialogue options; the top one implies Yuu is glad that they “learned to cook for themselves” and the bottom option is Yuu being happy they don’t have to eat lizards or rats.
Tumblr media
How I interpret this is that the top option gives players that want to self-insert (or put their OC in Yuu’s situation) the chance to characterize Yuu as someone who can cook. The bottom option doesn’t inherently imply cooking at all, so it may be for someone who wants their Yuu/OC to be someone who can’t cook and is instead waiting for Silver and Sebek to finish cooking for them. This would make the dialogue choice similar to the ones in the Harveston hometown event and White Rabbit Fest, where Yuu is given dialogue options to indicate if they can play an instrument or not.
In regards to the first option, the wording is dubious enough to neither confirm nor deny that Yuu took Master Chef. It’s not specified where or how Yuu learned to cook; it’s just said as a comment after Sebek specifies that HE specifically learned to cook from Master Chef. I’d imagine that Master Chef does happen to be one of the classes Yuu (a non-mage) can take, as it doesn’t require the use of magic (and actually forbids its use).

Runaway Chapter 4: Poison_Part 2
Summary: Lilia tries to speak with Malleus about everything. But will Malleus listen?
<-Previous Chapter
Master List
Ao3
Notes: *I had to split this as Tumblr no long takes long posts *Twst spoilers for Chapter/Book 7
For a moment, Lilia looked as if he had been struck. He stumbled back a step. His heart stopped as, for a second, the world lost sound and color.
There was a beat before Lilia was able to snap back to reality.
Once he did, his ruby gaze dropped, shame and guilt sitting on each shoulder.
“I…” He swallowed as his throat grew thick before forcing the words out. “I had to.” He lifted a hand to rub some feeling back into his arm, which had gone numb.
Lilia knew this talk was coming, but he didn’t think it would be so soon.
“...You were already against humans as it was back then. You blamed them for everything you lost and thought they were just verminous savages that destroyed everything they touched,” he explained as if to justify himself. He couldn’t lift his head to look at the other, and his body slumped forward as he thought of his son. His son, who had gone and... “I didn’t want you to hate Silver for something he was innocent of.”
Malleus’ lips pulled back to reveal his fangs.
“His father killed my mother,” he growled, his voice rumbling. Against the stone, his hand curled into fists. Lilia’s head shot up.
“Malleus--”
“His father killed my mother--” Malleus repeated, lashing an arm out and interrupting the other before he could speak. Lilia had to leap away to avoid the attack. “--invaded our territory, attacked our people--And yet you raised his child?!”
B O O M!
As his temper flared, the storm outside grew stronger. The light of its lightning filled the room with white, illuminating Malleus’ fury and Lilia’s shock and guilt.
At first, Lilia stepped back, but then he stepped forward, a fire in his chest.
“Malleus, calm down! Silver had nothing to do with any of that!” he yelled to be heard over the bellow of the storm and the screech of the wind, which rattled the windows. The flame spread throughout the rest of Lilia’s body, giving him the strength to stand up for his son. His.
“Silver never did anything!” he told the other. “You can’t hold him accountable for things that happened before he was even born!”
“He still carries his blood,” Malleus hissed, his tone cracking like fire. “How could you--”
“He was a freaking baby lying alone in a cursed castle! If I hadn’t, he would have died!”
“That’s—”
“What, Malleus?!” Lilia challenged. He stepped forward. Malleus stepped back, away from the window. “That’s what?! He was a child, a baby! A baby who never did anything wrong!”
Indeed, Silver never committed any sin. He was a sweet, loving child who did his best to help those around him and was kind to even the cruelest soul. Silver was passionate and only desired the strength to care for others. He didn't deserve the blame of others. To be held accountable for the wrongs of his fathers, to suffer--
Lilia tried to calm his temper, but it was hard.
He felt like he had to fight for Silver, but at the same time, he knew that fighting wasn’t what anyone needed.
After all, Malleus was suffering as well.
Malleus had just learned two horrible truths that Lilia always knew would break the young prince.
He had realized his life came at the cost of another's life span, someone he cared for enough to blot over and nearly die at his phantom's hands. On top of that, the dragon learned that a child he loved was descended from the ones who stole everything from him.
What Malleus needed wasn't an enemy right now. He needed a friend, someone to care for him.
Lilia took a breath.
“I know you’re angry at me, and you have every right to be,” he emphasized. “But I never wanted to hurt you.” He reached out again, trying to let his love reach the child he spent so long trying to hatch. Malleus dodged the touch.
Malleus didn’t want to accept anything from the bat right now. He was angry. He was upset. More than that, he was hurt.
“You lied to me.” Lilia betrayed him. Malleus and his family. He deceived Malleus all this time, even though the dragon trusted him more than anything. All for that human.
He turned and walked away from Lilia until he was standing before the fireplace.
The flames cricked and cackled as they flickered, their light creating tall shadows from the grate that loomed over the two like witnesses to a crime.
Lilia followed Malleus, trying to reason with him. When he spoke, his tone was desperate.
“I did it for you.” Malleus scoffed, causing the other to droop. “And for myself,” he admitted.
“Before your father died, he left a dream that humans and fae could live together in peace. I tried to share that dream, but... Lilia's eyes dropped as he lifted a hand to rub a stiff neck. “ As I said, you hated humans. And I worried that one day that hatred would grow and history would repeat itself.
“But that changed when you met Silver.” Despite everything, Lilia smiled softly at the memory.
Malleus had been surprised to see his guardian holding a human baby that day. He was distasteful at the sight, but as soon as Lilia shoved Silver into his arms, the fierce dragon instantly softened to mush. That was the first time Lilia had hope that Malleus could change.
“Despite just meeting Silver and your prejudices, you instantly began to worry for him. You came by just to see how he was and how he was growing. You made sure he was eating alright, praised him as he learned to walk and fight, and taught him to use his magic.” He lifted his head and beamed, a soft chuckle dancing from his lips.
“You even came to a college full of humans,” he hummed. “All because you found you were able to care for one.”
Malleus’ face scrunched as he fought back tears. The memory of the other brought up feelings of love and care for the human babe, but they were quickly burned by his anger and pain.
“But it was all a lie,” he said, rejecting the feeling Lilia tried to offer.
“You misled me. Had I known the truth, known who he was, I never—I never--” Malleus choked back a sob as his body quaked, unable to hold in his emotions.
“Never would have cared for him?” Lilia finished for him, his face cool and his voice hard as stone. He folded his arms across his chest and stood to his full height. Despite it not being as impressive as the other’s, it had the desired effect.
“I know. I knew that if you knew the truth, you never would have even given that child a chance.” Lilia lifted a hand to his head, his mind beginning to spin from stress. He closed his eyes to combat the oncoming migraine.
“What do you want, Malleus? Do you want to kill Silver for something his father did?!” But hadn’t Lilia been the same? Hadn’t he played with the idea of killing the boy to get revenge for all that was lost?
At his words, Malleus’ skin lost its color as his jaw clenched.
The dragon fell silent and turned away, staring intently at the flame as the fire inside him ate away.
The pain bubbled and boiled inside him until his body felt like a pot about to boil over. It was so intense that Malleus worried he would blot over again.
Instead, Malleus did much worse.
“I wish you never found him,” he said, the words cracking like his heart. His hair hid his wet eyes. “I wish you had never brought him into our lives.” Each word was like a drip of poison.
A part of him felt this was a lie. Another part meant every word.
If Lilia hadn’t brought Silver into his life—had Lilia not allowed him to care for that human—then his heart wouldn’t be aching the way it was.
He wouldn’t be in so much pain.
The silence that fell was thick. Even the rumbling of the storm outside couldn’t pierce it.
Neither move. Neither spoke. Neither looked at the other.
Finally, the world shattered like glass.
“Well—” Lilia said, voice shaking with emotion, his lips curling in a sneer. “Then perhaps it’s a good thing Silver’s gone.”
There was a clack of heels as Lilia turned away, then the groan of the door, followed by a SLAM!
Then there was nothing.
Krrr, krrk, fssh...
Malleus never turned away from the flickering flames before him. His brow wrinkled as he fought back the tears, which made his eyes shine like glass.
Outside, lightning clashed. Thunder roared. The wind screeched as it raked past the window like claws.
Finally, the world became too much for him.
Malleus’ face collapsed into his hands as his emotions came pouring out.
“AUGHH--!”
~To be continued...~
Next ->
So. Nice talk, huh? I mean, Lilia didn't get hit by lightning, so that's something...
Anyway, we catch up with our runaway next time, so stay tuned!

Last minute (rambles) thoughts before book 7 chapter 5 releases.
Tumblr media
== Cards ==
This time we didn't have a cad to go with this chapter which is interesting. We had one for ch 4 with General Lilia (I remember that day well) and for ch 3 with Cerberus Gear Ortho. Which were there for reasons, Ortho for being the last one awake in NRC in ch 3 and Lilia for being the main character of ch 4. So I find it interesting that there's no cards this time around. Maybe the plots of ch 5 is going to be a bit more messy.
Thought I am guessing (hoping) that Silver gets a SSR by the end of Book 7. This is a hope though.
== Banner ==
Tumblr media
On the banner this time there are two characters, Silver and Sebek. The characters on the banner are kinda important.
Tumblr media
For ch 3, this is just after malleus' sends everyone asleep. And the banner has Malleus and Silver on it. This makes sense as Silve is the main character for a good portion of this Ch and we also learn his UM here. Also for Malleus and we finally understand what a impact his UM caused.
Tumblr media
For ch 4, this one has General Lilia, Silver and Sebek. Which makes sence as this chapter is all about General Lilia and some Briar Valley lore.
For ch 5 it just has Silver and Sebek, which is a bit weird. No baul or Lilia. No other characters. No Idia or Ortho. Just what's going on...
Another thing to consider is emotions, mainly the emotions they display. For ch 3 Malleus looks happy with himself and Silver looks angry, For ch 4 Lilia has a mask on so we can't see his face but Silver and Sebek look ready to fight.
But in Ch 5 Silver looks to be in thought while Sebek looks angry. This could mean that in this chapter it will focus on them and deciphering the dream they're in.
Though another thought is that they're separated from Lilia's dream, probably by Malleus and, are sent either into thier own dreams or someone else's dream like Idia's.
This chapter could be an in between chapter, from Lilia's dream to what ever is next in the story.
(I would look into the background of the banner but (to my knowledge) it just shows where the characters were last.
Speaking of Lilia's dream...
== Lilia's Dream ==
Lilia's dream hold a lot to the lore of twst, especially for Briar Valley, we all had a lot thrown at us last chapter like:
- Silver Owls
- Knight of Dawn
- Malleus' Egg existing for a while
- Malleus' Mother and Father
And it will probably take another chapter to understand all of that and all the reveals that come with it (though some will probably be held onto for a while longer maybe.)
Something that I do find interesting that I don't believe anyone has mentioned (I may be wrong) but Lilia's acting weird in his dream. I'm Idias dream he has some memory of what happened ind NRC (Not fully but still), but with Lilia he is a different person.
Lilia is smart and is a changed man from his war crime days so why did he just go strait to a general who doesn't recognise Silver? I'd this is the same Lilia that we know he would recognise his boy instantly and try to help but he doesn't.
That has always stricked me as odd with Ch 4... Although it's a dream so Lilia shouldn't forget his memories, did Malleus make him forget Silver?
== Dreams ==
The entirety of NRC is sleeping and we're just going to explore Lilia's dream? Hopefully not.
This is again more of a hope than a theory, but I can see some other characters dreams being explored maybe in this chapter or next chapter. Especially the housewardens, we've seen Idias dream briefly but what about Leona or Riddle. Leona would probably dream about being king or possibly being liked by people and castle staff while Riddle would probably dream about his mother being kind or Heartslabyul doing good / behaving.
Again this is more of a hope though I would love to see this happen.
Though what of the world outside of dreams?
== Ortho and the awake world ==
So in the background of all of the general Lilia stuff, Ortho, his parents and Malleus' grandmother and all trying to put a stop to Malleus' overblot.
But we haven't seen them since Ch 3, so how are they? What is Malleus doing to stop them? Maybe they'll appear in this chapter.
== Unknown UM ==
There's still a good few unknown UM, these being the UM for...
- Ace
- Ortho
- Lilia
- Sebek
== Ongoing questions ==
And for this chapter, I'm gonna put some money on the table and say that at least one person's UM's will be revealed. Who? Well I would put my bets on Sebek personally. I don't have any hard evidence it's just a vibe really.
Questions from either earlier in this book or relevent to this chapter (possibly):
- Silver's lineage and crown pendant
- Crowley. Just everything about him
- Malleus' family
- Malleus' grandmother in particular
Anyway at the end of the day I feel like this :)
== ==
And that's it for my TWST talk.

Riddle's Double Isekai on Chapter 7
Hooo boi!
Upon voting, it was decided that people who like my shit want to put yet again the redhead shortie into the angst departament. :v
Initially, I had 7 double isekais, but when it comes to touching up the diasomnia chapter, we can exclude Malleus's double Isekai, since that had a completely separated plot and even then, the Isekai Malleus was way more detached from the conflict that cannon Malleus has.
Of course! We have chapter 7 Spoilers, for both servers. We will touch up until 7.5, cuz that is literally where the book stops at the moment, just to get a feeling of what we are dealing with. (I have a feeling that mayhaps we could possibly get near the Dia arc end in main story... Dunno, man...)
Anyway... Yep... Chapter 7 Spoilers... Along with spoilers for Riddle's Double Isekai story. We will touch up on the basis of it, just to tie in everything...
Under the cut we have everything! :3
OK... So for starters, background! Riddle got Isekai-ed back into twst along his adoptive mother, Yuuneka(his Yuu :3) and cheesecake, his cat. Due to this circumstances, Crowley assumed that Yuuneka was summoned to twst, hence Riddle, Grim and cheesecake were deemed as her student counterparts. Since she was an adult and also magicless, Crowley assigned Yuuneka as the janitor, therefore the other 3 would have to live with her in Ramshackle. :'3
Yuuneka is very positive, always reassuring that things will sort out just fine in the end. Riddle, unfortunately, is far more negative about the whole ordeal. He does happen to befriend Adeuce, the Chandelier incident commences and everyone gets yeeted at the mines. There Riddle discovers that he has magic, purely by accident.
We follow the Savanaclaw and Scarabia arcs almost like in cannon. Octavinelle has the highlight that Azul was very persuasive on Yuuneka giving up Ramshackle. Also cheesecake and Leona have rivalry. :'3
Then you have Heartslabyul arc, where Trey gets to push the line a bit too much on poor Riddle. Like he knew he was missing, at worst, dead, so to see this redhead with a new last name just waltzing around the school, was bewildering. Trey expected for Riddle to remember him and Che'nya, which wasn't the case. Adding to the fact that poor Riddle just discovered his UM in the heat of the moment back in Scarabia, he was very wonky and all was piling up on him. Plus, adding to the whole VDC camp ordeal and the fear of his biological mother stepping in and taking him away from his family, who raised him.
Yes, he was pushed into overBlot. The Aftermath was also messy. It was mostly stopped by Yuuneka reaching out to her child and Riddle who just wanted home. He wanted back home, at his normal school, at his grandparents and the magicless world. So it ended more with a heart to heart from mother to son and a fluffy time in the little family of 4(grim was officially adopted around the 2nd chapter :3).
Following it with the rest of the VDC and Vil's overBlot, Yuuneka had to finally be more harsher with those Bois. Mainly Rook got the shoe treatment. R.I.P. French he-man, your betrayal won't be forgiven. :'3
Then, chapter 6 happens, Idia also gets the shoe treatment. No one is safe from the shoe, not even Crowley. This mama had enough of you the second you made her child to cry. Suffer now :'D
And now... After this smol explanation of everything, leading up to the very awaited chapter 7, we can finally touch upon it.
First of all, with Malleus becoming a good aquitance of Yuuneka, it was clear the Fae was also introduced to Riddle, Grim and Cheesecake. So they were all buddies. :D
Hence why, when Ortho presents the opportunity to find a way home for Yuuneka, Malleus is a bit sad. Of course he would be if the allegedly new mom figure and his new friends all went home and never returned. But Yuuneka reassures the Fae that she is sure there could be made a 2 way in between the 2 worlds and they could visit each other.
But then Lilia ruins the mood when he announces he would suddenly drop out. Now, Riddle didn't knew all that well the diasomnia vice, but he figured Malleus was also sad about it. Cater, the Heartslabyul Dormhead, also expressed his woe about his fellow clubmate leaving so out of the blue. Many students came to like Lilia, so him leaving would be a quite painful jab. The good part was that Lilia was throwing a bigass farewell party and the whole school was invited.
Yuuneka also felt the need to serve a good party look, just because she is a very lady-like figure. If she doesn't feel she slays. She might as well stay at home. Riddle really doesn't understand his mom sometimes. :'3
But, for a nice farewell gift, the Ramshackle decided to give to Lilia a nice handmade scarf. Lilia wholeheartedly accepted the said gift.
Meanwhile, Sebek gets introduced to the first year group. And him with Riddle immediately go head-to-head. Ace and Epel are just egging on them, Jack tries to stop the fight, all whole Deuce and Ortho want to see how this pans out.
There is also Trey, but Riddle avoids him. They still had things sour in between them. And it doesn't help that Yuuneka is also very salty about Trey. He has a chance to redeem himself, but then again, if he messes up, the belt will be upon him. :'3
But, the party is abruptly stopped when OverBlot Malleus shows up. There is a fight and ofc, panic. Malleus uses his own UM, putting everyone to sleep.
So while Ortho goes to STIX like in cannon, we have the other side, where Yuuneka gets shook up by Riddle in the dream world, which depicted a more different Ramshackle dorm room. Grim and cheesecake were also there.
Unfortunately for them, there were also Phanthoms, whom Grim and Riddle had to put a front against. They thankfully get saved by Silver and together they jump into Sebek's dream. Again, Malleus sends his blot goons to stop them and so, they resort to jumping in yet another dream.
This time it was Lilia's and they get held hostages by the Fae soldiers, whom general Lilia was leading. Cheesecake bit some soldier's ass. :3
Lilia, of course, doesn't recognize Silver, nor Sebek. Same story with Baul. But Yuuneka does plead for them to at least help out, as they mean no harm. Since she was clearly an emphatic lady and of course, a woman who still fought to protect the boys(maternal instincts seem to be the bane of NRC Students's Pride).
In reality Riddle told them she could cook, the second they realised they needed to stop for food. Sorry, Lilia, but you were demoted from your cook position. :'3
And thankfully, the soldiers finally ate something that won't poison their stomachs. They won't voice it out, but the humans proved to be a gift from heavens so far. :v
Riddle does have a little heart-to-heart with Sebek, mostly about Baul rejecting the Greenhead for being 'human'. Cheesecake is also a chonky huggable mass of fluff, which helped more to the opening up. They are friends now! Yay! :D
They go to the castle where Malenoir is, along her egg. Imagine just how easy it becomes when Riddle uses 'off with your head' on the silver owl soldiers. Not only it gives shock value to the poor less knowledgeable, but also it locks the magic of the soldiers, having them far easier to defeat.
Reaching the castle, they ofc are waltzing right into a trap. Lilia gets wounded and is a chaos of proportions. Via unspeakable raging from Riddle and Sebek, they do manage to reach the throne room, where Malenoir was along the egg. It doesn't help that she was cranky on top of it. :'3
But Yuuneka, as a fellow mother, understands how excited Malenoir was for her very own child. So she resonates with her and the 2 immediately become buddies. Since Yuuneka worked as a kindergarten teacher prior to the Isekai, she had that knack for taking care of kids. So Malenoir was delighted that at least some humans prove to be kind and peaceful.
Ah yes... 'if not friend, then why friend shaped', But make it insanely powerful Fae queen and magicless hooman mom with 1 son and 2 cats. :3c
Malenoir does ask about Yuuneka's son, so the queen gets introduced to Riddle, who's at that age, where a teen only has one thing in mind: arson. :3
But because Yuuneka and Malenoir bonded so well and fast, it allowed the group to warn the queen far more quicker about the threat of the silver owls. So now it isn't a surprise attack anymore. Still, with a significant lack of preparation like the said owls had, our team was still getting the shorter stick.
And so, Malenoir takes it up to herself to protect the egg and the group. Firstly by entrusting Lilia with egg Malleus, then by going full dragon lady and fighting with the troupes of the enemy. :3
Ah yes, very nice! Malleus gets motherless, the dad's still out for some of that diplomatic milk... Great job, everyone! :D
So now we get introduced to the knight of dawn, who apparently wasn't a bitch and this whole time was pressured by his actual bitchy brother in law(or smth, I read summaries, don't sue me :v), into going through this fucked up campaign.
Riddle is the first one that makes the connection that Silver is related to the said illegally pretty knight. Their hair and eyes are just different. But ya know... Nothing a wig and some good ol' contacts can't fix. He does whisper it to his mom, who also keeps quiet and keeps Grim from bringing up the uncanny resemblance.
Cheesecake does seem to like the knight tho. Damn... Disney princess power hitting yet again. U-Ub
But after the noble sacrifice on the knight's side, we get to find out that *gasp* Silver is his baby son, cursed to sleep until ✨true love✨ wakes him up. Lilia tho manages to do just that and so uses his UM(still IDK what that shit does, but let's pretend I do know) on baby Silver, which results in the aurora eyes and the silver hair to appear.
Cue Silver having a breakdown about it, which yes... He totally has the right to it, because this is fucked up on so many levels at this point... And here I thought Idia's backstory was a tearjerker... :'3
Now Riddle also can resonate with Silver to some extent, because he also was an adopted child, someone who was faced with the fact that he was adopted quite harshly and he even overblotted under the pressure of that theme. It's a very sensible topic, so once Sebek does reach Silver with his UM and gets him to snap out of it, Riddle gets to comfort Silver about this. It was hard, everyone can't possibly imagine how this revelation is affecting him, but they have to be tough now. OverBlot Malleus is still out there and they need to stop him before something goes horribly wrong and no one could fix it anymore.
Yuuneka is also the voice of reason. As a mother, she feels like she is able to speak on behalf of our current Lilia, when she declares that no matter what, their child is their child, adopted or not, so they deserve the love, time and effort that was put into raising them. Because usually parents take this responsability upon them without being forced by someone. They want to share the love and give it life, raise it and educate it towards a future of it's own. It's not something romantic or platonic, is a whole other type of love that only a parent and their child has, so of course, Lilia has that love for Silver, otherwise he wouldn't be here.
And that gives to Silver determination. He is pumped up and ready to go and save his father! That, of course, alongside the rest of the group because sure as hell Sebek doesn't want for his buddy to go right into the danger, head-on, without being prepared beforehand.
And that would most likely pack up everything. I mean... Until Diasomnia chapter doesn't update a new part... We just have to sit down and relax for a bit. :3
Except moi... I have school :'3c
Until next time! Buh bye!

Twisted Wonderland Release Tracker:
On JP we had the 3rd Anniversary and a Joint Exam in March, as well as the announcement of the upcoming Tsumsted Wonderland Part 2 event, starting on April 4th.
It has been 32 days since the release of Book 7, Chapter 2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Twst NA Release Timeline: In month 15 we had Twisted Tsumderland Part 1 and Part 2 (of 2) of Book 6.
For comparison, in month 15 on JP-server, we had just gotten Beanfest 2 for the first time (which NA got in month 4) and the Spices Culinary Crucible (which NA got in month 5)
Tumblr media
The NA-server skipped over the Harveston event (coming in April), Culinary Crucible: Eggs and Fairy Gala IF in order to get to Twisted Tsumderland, which the JP-server did not receive until month 29, over two years into the game's release.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Compared main-story releases and NA-server broke away from JP's release schedule almost immediately: Book 4 went from three parts on JP to two parts on NA, Book 5 went from five parts (JP) to three parts (NA) and Book 6 went from five parts (JP) to just two parts on NA.
Some trivia that NA players may not know: Book releases are not actually called "part 1," "part 2," etc at all on JP. They are separated into sections of "beginning," "middle" and "end," with books 5 and 6 ending up with "middle 2" etc, due to story length.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Book 7, however, has dropped this counting convention entirely in favor of the English word "chapter."
This is one of many things that has JP-server all fluffy about Book 7, in addition to a lot of cryptic hints from Yana and the VAs that everything we know is about to change.

Hey! How are you? I kind of crashed face first into twisted wonderland and I don't even know how (has been like, 24 hours) and now i'm absorving all information that I can and I thought that asking someone who actually knows what they are talking about is the better option and I really liked your posts, so here are some questions: Did chapter 7 get released? Did Malleus overblot? How many forms does he have (yes he is my favorite)? Is the game over? Did the MC got back home?
Thank you in advance and stay safe! (also, feel free to not respond if you don't want to). Oh, english is not my first language, sorry for any mistakes.
Hi, welcome to twst! And congrats on making the decision to fave Malleus, he's best boy. 😌💓
Warning, all of these are spoilers.
1) Yes Book 7 is available in Japan now. It's still ongoing though and will likely not end soon, because Malleus' backstory is massive, important, and involves a lot of people from both the present and in the past.
2) Yes Malleus overblots. As expected, he is the most dangerous one so far and is a legitimate threat to their world, not just NRC.
3) He has a (a) humanoid form (b) humanoid forn with a fat tail (c) overblot form with a radioactive fat tail and horns (d) an inkblot dragon monster phantom (e) this is not yet visually revealed, but he has stated multiple times that he has an actual dragon form. We might be seeing this near the end of Book 7.
4) The game is far from over, and it's confirmed that there's a Book after 7 as Grim will also overblot according to the prologue.
5) No, MC hasn't gone back home yet and I don't think they will to be honest.
Have a happy playing, and have fun digging up the massive lore drops about Malleus. 🤭

Oops I am ranking TWST books (minus book 7 cause I’m not going into it till it’s released in the english version)
I will be making these seperate posts cause I have too much to say, but I will link each on in order from worst to best starting with the worst
6: Book 2
Easily the worst one, Book 2 just does not do Leona any form of Justice. Despite being one of the smarter characters, Leona’s plan simply does not make sense. Like yeah sure injure some of the stronger players so the competition would be easier but then his grand plan with the Diasomnia Dorm is literally unleashing a stampede to idk crush them? Injure them? Kill them???? (Okay maybe not that far). He does this in a public setting that could have easily gotten innocent bystanders hurt. Plus it’s Malleus we’re talking about, a stampede would not have done the kind of damage Leona would have wanted it to. It just feels like for a character who is often written to be a master strategist, his big plan for the competition wasn’t well thought out like at all. It paints Leona as someone who’s all bark and no bite when it comes to his arrogant attitude about his intelligence, which is annoying because HE IS VERY INTELLIGENT AND SHOULD BRAG ABOUT IT! It’s just this ONE book that doesn’t serve him justice on this aspect of his character!
Another issue the book has is that it paints Leona in a really bad light to the point that I strongly disliked him for a while till reading some vignettes and realizing “oh no he’s an interesting character it’s just that the main book really fucked him over”. We have to remember that Leona is a grown man at 20 years old who made it his mission to literally harm teenagers just to win a sports competition, and while I understand the competition itself is a big deal it does not at all justify Leona’s actions (nor does his backstory). That was all BEFORE he overblots where the harm can be somewhat justified under uhhh temporary magical influence of insanity lol. And at the end of the book he straight up goes “I actually am not going to learn and grow from this.” And he does a little after the events of the book good for him, but when the main theme of each book being about growth and healing from past scars, why the fuck immediately backtrack on that theme right in the second book???
AND! Shdgss another thing that annoys me is that shortly after learning what an overblot is and how it works, following that logic that the audience was literally taught; Ruggie should have overblotted. He was the one constantly using his signature spell, he was the one having to hurt himself to get others hurt as well, he was the one who nearly got directly killed by Leona. That stress and overuse of his magic should have lead to an overblot but it didn’t only because Ruggie isn’t the twisted version of Scar, it’s Leona.
The book very much tried to use Ruggie as a red herring making us think he will be the main boss when it was Leona, but it was done so poorly that looking back it doesn’t even make sense with the in universe explanation on the function of overblots. Yana cared more about making a not so surprising twist than actually putting the effort in making that twist make sense. The fact that I ended the book caring significantly more about Ruggie than Leona is a sign that Leona’s character in this book was more of an afterthought.
You can just tell that Yana did not put the amount of thought and care into Book 2 as she did with Books 1, 4, 6, and even 5 despite that one also not being that good either though for completely different reasons. She heavily relied on the story beats of The Lion King to work with Book 2 leading to a messy and rather uninteresting story that actively paints the main character of the book as a less interesting person than what he actually is shown to be in later chapters and vignettes. It’s especially disheartening when you do get to Leona’s backstory and see the potential was right there the whole time, it just was not given any ounce of effort in the execution.

They Live in You (Twst fanfic)
**mild SPOILERS for Book 7 chapter 4**
Summary: Perhaps for the first time in his life, Malleus tried to look harder at himself. He never noticed how, even if he was still young, one could see without a doubt, he was Malleus Draconia, and he was their child.
Word count: 1275
Warning: Referenced character death. Mentions of war.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: This is for the event “Anthems of Old” from @briarvalleyarchives. This piece is inspired by the song "They Live in You" from the Lion King musical. This might or might not be fic number one to a series depending on whether I can finish the other two before the deadline XD
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door to the music room was swung open with an energetic bam. The young prince glanced up from the cello he was playing, a small smile warming the golden shimmer of his tired eyes.
“Lilia—“
“Malleus~ It’s been months! Did you miss me, my boy?” Lilia was still in his full armour with his iconic mask, but even so his bright grin was heard, and he asked with a vitality one would think is impossible for a soldier who had so recently returned from battle.
“I’m no child, Lilia.”
“Awww but you did, didn’t you?” Lilia opened his arms, awaiting an embrace.
Malleus put down the cello bow but shook his head slowly. A gesture that Lilia understood. The older fae’s hands dropped to the side of his body, his armour clanging in the process.
“It’s good to see you return safely, Lilia.”
Lilia nodded and bowed slightly, before taking off his mask, choosing not to kneel in front of Malleus like talking to a child, but to keep standing straight instead.
“Malleus, I’m sorry we lost the northern woods.”
Malleus’s lips twitched. Flames flashed in his eyes. He had watched from the castle balcony, when the borderlands were burnt down by crimson, pungent fire of war. It was far, far out of his reach, but he had heard it. He had heard the earth crack, the trees fall, the sky shrouded, the soldiers scream, summoning wind and water to push back the flames. But what’s gone is gone. The land had cried, and so had he, another piece scorched black on his father’s and mother’s beautiful land.
“I saw it happen,” the prince closed his eyes, “And all I did was watch.”
And though there were plenty of words Lilia could think of that were true and just and would tell the child he did no wrong, there was none that the child truly needed, none that the child would believe.
“You know what the northern woods used to be, don’t you, Lilia?”
Of course he did. He had been there before, accompanying the prince.
The then prince.
“Father used to go there. He used to negotiate with the inhabitants about conservation measures due to high magic density in the area and the rich magical resources that could be obtained there,” Malleus said, and then added, “I read that in books.”
He stood up, his height allowing to look at Lilia right in the eyes, “It was one of the last things my father left undone, before he was gone, wasn’t it, Lilia?” He put down the cello by his chair, “I thought I could take over it one day. The woods still had great potential, the woods still had father’s footsteps, I wanted to follow him one day. Like this cello, I wanted to be able to play it without feeling it’s too big for me one day.”
His shoulders scrunched up even though he tried to hide it, “And it’s gone now. They’re gone, again.”
And Lilia wished he had Mallenoa’s strong embrace that could enfold every inch of you, he wished he had Levan’s gentle touch that could seep right into your heart, and he knew he was wearing his cold, hard armour but still he offered the best he could to their child.
“They’re not gone,” he pulled the child close with his left hand and rested his right hand on the child’s head.
Because he understood why this mattered so much to Malleus. He had been there when the woods burnt down. He had felt a fire inside him hotter than whatever the humans had conjured because he had seen the silhouettes of his prince and his princess in those woods as they were warped by the heat of the flames and twisted into nothingness. Because it wasn’t enough killing them once, the war had killed them twice.
But Lilia could gaze up and come back because there was hope here. Because they were here.
“They live in you, Malleus.”
The child said nothing, and only pushed himself further into Lilia’s embrace.
“When you walk, I see him beside you. Every day I find his silhouette in your steps.”
Lilia let go of Malleus, shifting his right hand to the child’s cheek, “And when you smile, I see her in you.” The excitement in the way their eyes shimmered, the innocence in the way their lips curled, to Lilia, it was like she barely left.
Malleus scoffed under his breath, “You’re lying. Father was so much taller, mother was so regal. How could you see them in me?”
“How could I not, my boy?” Lilia laughed, creating a mirror-like surface with magic, “Look at yourself.”
“……” Malleus wiped his eyes and looked, “…it’s just me.”
“Look harder,” Lilia whispered, brushing up Malleus’s bangs that were covering his scales, “They’re right here.”
And perhaps for the first time in his life, Malleus tried to look harder at himself. He never noticed how the curve of his horns or the shimmer of his scales or the colours of his eyes resembled his mother’s. He never noticed how the shape of his face or his wide shoulders or his long legs resembled his father’s. Even if he was still young, one could see without a doubt, he was Malleus Draconia, and he was their child.
“See?” Lilia put his hands on Malleus’s tensed shoulders, “They live in your reflection.”
Malleus pursed his lips, shifting away from Lilia’s hands, “What good does it do? Could I be even half the ruler they were? Could I give all of myself to protect my land and my people like they did?”
Lilia’s smile faded. There were memories that were never written in any history books that he held within his head. What was pride for the kingdom was nightmares for him, what was a loss for the kingdom was a sword stabbing through his heart for the centuries to come until he finally finally joins them. He could not bear another loss, he could not let their son do that.
Lilia dispelled the magical mirror and flung open the curtains covering the music room’s glass walls. They gazed outside at the summer sun showering bright glimmers over the land that was healing, the land that was quiet and still and peaceful now.
“You are still young,” Lilia said to Malleus, but his eyes never left the scenery outside, “And you are already such a fine prince. I know you think that they live in these lands, in every creature and in every star. I know you love this kingdom that they gave every fibre of their magic to protect. I know you want to protect all that they’ve left behind for you.
“But you are not alone, my dear. Every soul that their spirits had touched are one with you in our love for this land,” Lilia took Malleus’s hand in both of his, “Be patient, my prince. There is no mountain too great. There is no limit to your power. May the night bless you.”
Malleus squeezed Lilia’s hands tightly, thinking, breathing, trying to believe that Lilia was right. And he thought about how Lilia had been there when his parents were alive, how Lilia had been their friends, how Lilia had known them and seen them and touched them. He glanced at Lilia kneeling to talk to him, to meet his downcast eyes, and he briefly wondered if this was what his father’s hands would’ve felt like too.
“Thank you, Lilia,” the child smiled in the way Lilia remembered of her, “They live in you as much as they live in me.”

I wonder if we get to visit everyone else's dreams or we just go straight to Diasomnia, Ramshackle and Ignihyde beating Malleus and everyone wakes up 🤔
I mean, as much as I'd like to see what everyone is dreaming about (and get my heart broken cuz I know some of the dreams are going to make me cry), I know the latter option is the more practical option both plot and in-story wise.
Tumblr media
Even though book 7 will inevitably be longer than previous books, I definitely don’t think it will have time to dream hop into the rest of the cast’s heads (and especially not in detail). That would make book 7 hundreds of chapters long (and we’re already at like… what, 7-87 even though we’ve visited only like 3-4 dreams at this point 😭 One of those dreams belongs to Mickey, who isn’t even a NRC student, then there is Lilia and Sebek, and finally Idia who doesn’t really count because we have yet to physically enter his dream.)
We alone already spent several tens of chapters in Lilia’s dreamscape, not to mention got hit with a TON of deep lore along the way… It would just feel too clashing (because not everyone has a traumatic/sad backstory to explore) or bloated (have you seen how big the cast is?) to try and cram everyone else in. It would also call attention away from who the book should be focusing on: Diasomnia, with a sprinkle of Ignihyde. Furthermore, it would unnecessarily make book 7 drag on without allowing for meaningful advances in the central conflict 💦
Like… sure, I’d love to wiggle around in Jade’s dream, but what purpose does that serve to the grander narrative???? Not a whole lot. If TWST wants to do a “everyone bands together with the power of friendship to beat the big baddie” thing, it would be more succinct for everyone to be awoken at once by the rescue squad and then pitch in, rather then the rescue squad sequentially (and randomly, since Silver cannot choose where he dreamhops) deprogram each of them.
