Violet Core - High Speed Sapphic Mecha TTRPG

After a long time of working on the game on-and-off, it's finally crash landed on Kickstarter!

(edit cuz the post keeps getting bumps!) We successfully funded in Oct 2024! So Violet Core is currently my full time job and things are currently looking good for the planned release in Nov 2025! Progress is going well and I post public updates on the KS every month (and usually here and on my blusky as well) or so if you'd like to follow along :3

Violet Core is a sapphic focused ttrpg about sad space lesbians dueling each other and making out while stranded in space. Drawing inspiration from the absolutely wonderful visual novel Heaven Will Be Mine as well as GunBuster, Zone of the Enders and Knights of Sidonia. It focuses the dramatic tension between friends, rivals and comrades. It's a game whose beating heart is deeply lesbian in a way that is a touch tricky to put into words...its indelibly infused. It's a game preoccupied with a looming horizon of destruction and what we do in the face of calamity.

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 04/Oct/2024 

It wasn’t the week I planned, but oh boy, was it another seriously productive week!

I started on finishing up the chapter 4 edits and rewrites, getting those done just as my editor sent through the chapter 3 edits! So, I figured seeing as I was on an editing spree, I would skip the social media days this week and just slam through all of that to get it done.

So there were no asks this week, but I did get the first Autumn Scenario Specials up—always fun to write a soft!M, but even more so in this cosy season, hehe! ;D

And it was totally worth focusing on the edits as I got all of it finished, including bug testing chapter 4 too! I’ll be sending my edited version of chapter 4 to my editor to do the final tidy-ups, and chapter 3 is also now ready to send for the final phase to the last set of readers and sensitivity readers to be completed.

There was the weirdest bug ever in chapter 3, but was eventually sorted super easily, but it did have me puzzled for a while, lol!

So, with all of that done way quicker than expected, I moved onto writing the next chapter too! And I’m already slamming through that :D

Chapter 5 is definitely more intensive than the nice smooth, shortness of Chapter 4, but there’s a lot going on again, as well as the variations of meetings with some recurring characters, so got to make sure those make an impact! ;D

So yeah, it was quite the week!

But to make up for not doing social media days, I will be spending most of next week making up for that. I’m actually hoping to spend more time on those so I can get October’s and November’s content done in one, as I am thinking of something a bit more intensive and fun for December…but I need time to pull it off, so getting ahead on social media now will mean I will hopefully get the chance to what I’m excited for!

Calling Supernatural fans with knowledge of the fandom's history! [see also: Game of Thrones version]

I'm in the midst of putting together some fandom deep dives as part of my analysis of TV Fandom Fix-Its on AO3. I'm starting with Supernatural and trying to give context for how many fanworks the fandom was producing overall, and when overall spikes in fandom activity were happening, and I could use help.

Specifically, I'm trying to label the activity spikes with what episodes/events seemed to contribute to them. But I'm not in the fandom, so I'm probably missing important context. E.g., I know there were other events like fanwork exchanges happening that might have been contributors to some activity spikes, or things the show creators said/did might also have contributed sometimes.

If you have theories about why the red spikes happened around July 15 and Oct 7, 2023 (both after The Winchesters was done airing), that would be excellent.

And if you think I'm missing important context for some of the earlier spikes, or I made goofs on some of the labels, please LMK!

To all my Pokemon fans out there, I have just played Pokemon Legends Arcues (completely) and Scarlet this year. We know everybody was looking forward to this post! 2024 is going to be our fourth HEX (can you believe it?) and we want to do things a little differently this year.

In the interest of considering everyone's experiences, we will have a feedback period before we open signups.

Our WinxSource tumblr askbox is open for anyone wishing to submit anonymous suggestions. We also welcome anyone to message a mod on Discord (here's the invite link if you're interested in joining!) for non-anonymous feedback. Please review the updated rules and let us know how we can improve the HEX this year!

After we receive feedback, we will open signups on October 1. The plan is to have signups open for a few weeks, and then matches will be distributed. You will have until December 25th to work on your gifts. Gifts will be posted between December 26-31. We're looking forward to your feedback, and happy HEXing!

The Holiday Exchange is works like a secret santa: You receive something, but you also have to gift something.

You will fill in a form telling us what you want to be gifted and what you're willing to give. We (the winxsource team) will match you up with someone with similar preferences and send you the details for you to make your gift. All of this is a secret, so you’ll only reveal who you’re gifting once posting begins.

You can make or choose to receive a fic, a fanart, gifset or fan video.

Swedish/Canadian/American extreme metal titans ARCH ENEMY have announced the "European Blood Dynasty 2025 Tour". Support on the trek, which will kick off on October 10 in Stuttgart, Germany and conclude on December 15 in Düsseldorf, Germany, will come from AMORPHIS, ELUVEITIE and GATECREEPER.

ARCH ENEMY's twelfth studio album, "Blood Dynasty", will arrive on March 28, 2025 via Century Media Records.

ARCH ENEMY's 2024 European co-headline tour, "Rising From The North", with IN FLAMES, wrapped up on November 5 in Helsinki, Finland.

ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott stated about "Blood Dynasty": "This new album pushes the boundaries of what we've done before — it's everything you've come to expect from this band, and then some! We can't wait for you to hear it and feel the energy we've poured into every track. Welcome to the 'Blood Dynasty'!"

Next to the limited deluxe editions that feature two exclusive bonus tracks, fans can direct their attention to the limited liquid blood vinyl that is exclusively available in the band stores and limited to 666 copies.

Issued in July 2024, the "Dream Stealer" single marked ARCH ENEMY's first new music since the release of the "Deceivers" album, which came out in August 2022.

"Dream Stealer" was mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios. The accompanying music video was directed and produced by Patric Ullaeus.

Three months ago, Amott told Pulp Magazine about "Dream Stealer" and ARCH ENEMY's plans for new music: "We've been staying busy for sure and are really focused on writing and recording new stuff in between the touring we're doing. I'm kind of always coming up with new musical and lyrical ideas though — I just keep going as it's what I enjoy doing anyway. Making music is a natural process, and it's pretty much a daily thing, so it can be hard to pinpoint exactly when everything was conceived. I do, however, actually remember that the initial seed for 'Dream Stealer' was written during a songwriting session I did with Daniel [Erlandsson, drums] in Los Angeles, California, two years ago, and then it's been rearranged and updated a lot till it reached its final state that you're now hearing."

Asked if it was a conscious decision to go back to the "classic ARCH ENEMY" direction and approach with "Dream Stealer", Amott said: "I've seen some seriously great feedback from the fans, and that's always very encouraging, of course. Personally, I don't know if I’d necessarily say 'Dream Stealer' is a throwback to the sound of the past, but I get what they mean — the song has the energy and speed that is very exciting and infectious. Maybe there is a hint of vintage ARCH ENEMY in there, and why not? I'm looking forward to playing it live on stage — I think it is going to be intense as hell."

ARCH ENEMY played its first concert with new guitarist Joey Concepcion on April 24, 2024 at Musinsa Garage in Seoul, South Korea. The show was part of ARCH ENEMY's 2024 Asian tour.

Last December, ARCH ENEMY announced that it had "amicably" parted ways with longtime guitarist Jeff Loomis.

Jeff, who was the main songwriter in his previous group, NEVERMORE, joined ARCH ENEMY in late 2014, but was not involved in the writing for the latter act's last two albums, 2017's "Will To Power" and the aforementioned "Deceivers".

good morning! happy halloween!

i fell asleep yesterday without being able to update my blog (¯―¯💧), but i finished nearly all of my goals! i did a workout that's good even if you're on your period, took a shower and ran some errands. practiced piano, took a short nap and played with clay for a bit (i'm making a shell shaped ash tray for myself ♡)! i didn't study, but i did drink nearly 2 liters of water

today i have to work from 12:00 till 18:00. my goals are:

- take a shower before bed

- exercise (do a workout)

- study !

- eat breakfast

- start editing my vlog

Addressing concerns about boycotting Eurovision over Israel: We do not support genocide. However, the previous artists from Israel are not responsible for current world events. I do not wish to punish artists for things their government is doing. Thus, I've decided that songs from Israel pre-Oct 7, 2023 will still be allowed to participate, but songs from Israel after that date will not be allowed in any of my tournaments. This blog will run as if Israel is not participating in Eurovision, much like Russia. Songs from Russia pre-2022 will still be allowed, because once again the artists are not their governments. Please do not let current events influence your votes. Please continue to vote for your favorite song, not country.

Who runs this blog?

Hello! You may call me Cyrus, I am a transman, he/him, and I am in my 30s. This is a side blog, so you will not see any likes or follows from this blog. I am, unfortunately, a USAmerican (please save me) However I am learning Norwegian and would absolutely love to move to Norway or somewhere else in Europe some day. Preferably soon. That being said, English(and US spelling just because of habit) is the main language that this blog will be using, although you are welcome to send asks/comments/etc in your own language and I'll do my best to translate. Obviously, as previously stated, it will be easier for me to translate Norwegian and sometimes Danish and Swedish, but any language is welcome, not just European languages.

After much thought put into it, yes. I do vote on every single poll, because at the end of the day I am also a fan of these songs... and I don't like having to wait a week to see how the polls are doing. However, I have decided that if a poll comes to tie, I will consider my vote void, and the one that I did not vote for will move on.

Is there any updated ETA on the project? Or is it still scheduled to release Oct this year?

I’ve been keeping my kickstarter backers updated, but thank you for sending in this ask - social media has definitely fallen by the wayside as I work on the game.

The release date has been pushed back. Between the added content that was unlocked during the stretch goal phase and my own decisions to make the common route longer and add a forth mystery route… the game is BIG…GER. Good news: more content for everyone! Bad news: game is taking longer than I estimated at the start.

I’ve finished the first draft of the script and sent it off to my developmental editor for initial feedback. I’ve since gotten that back and will be jumping into round two of the game script, implementing some much needed edits and rewrites.

Art is coming along nicely. Most of everything is sketched out or completed, save for the CGs, which are about 50% sketched out. A lot has been done, but there is still much left to do. But progress is being made every day.

It’s too soon to give an exact release date, but I’m estimating some time in spring of 2024.

As promised, we will try to run a Durin’s Day Gift Exchange again this year, provided we get a minimum of 10 people signed up :) If we can’t get enough people, we’ll likely have a break until the Trick or Treat Event.

Now, according to this source, the Durin’s Day this year falls on the 3rd of October. What a perfect opportunity to make someone’s day, we thought!

The Plan:

We’re looking to pair up fanartists (including graphics/edits makers) with fanfic authors

If you sign up, you will be expected to create a gift for your partner: either as a part of a joint collab or based on their existing works (art or fic)

If you decide to do a collab, it has to be a brand new idea (not an existing verse), which the two of you will work on together, one writing, the other doing the art for it.

If you decide to base your gift on your partner’s existing work, you can pick anything they published so far. You will have a month to familiarise yourself with their works and create your gift. As a bonus, your own work gets some extra exposure too :)

Guideline effort required: we suggest minimum around 3.5k words and ah, equivalent in artwork. (How do you quantify artwork?!) Like, decent stuff, folks.

Whatever you create is kept a secret until the 3rd of Oct (i.e. Durin’s Day), when everyone posts their gifts.

You agree that someone else creates something based on your work. Could be a spin-off, fanart, little story, graphic etc. But basically it’s somebody else’s interpretation of your universe.
