The reason why we are here

I think it would be superfluous if I claim that almost all of us have reached a certain point to ask ourselves why exactly I am still alive and walking on this planet.

From biological point of view quickly and summarily explained. A woman and a man performed the sexual act in the middle of the period of the monthly fertility, whereby a sperm came in contact with the egg cell and thus the procreation of a child took place. Whether this is done naturally or artificially, it is the same process. Provided that the implantation of the embryo and the subsequent pregnancy, which takes about nine months for the complete development of the baby, went smoothly.

This is a fact that is incontrovertible, but should not remain the sole answer we receive in schooling.

Perhaps I'll rephrase the initial question:

What is the real reason for which one exists?

Because of the job, which enables one to shape one's life according to one's set ideas in the first place?

Quite possibly. But it should not become the core of an existence.

For the people you might have to take care of?

One should be appreciated for it, but not needed.

The aspiration to leave something meaningful and instructive for posterity? To find a passion and thus an outlet to give one's fantasies the appropriate form? A benefit for oneself?

Perhaps. Potential is in each of us.

The right answer to this question has to be decided by each one of us. There should be no right and wrong here. There should be no fixed rule just because it is someone else's fulfillment. Happiness is relative and is often confused with security.

It is the question of one's own definition. No matter what other people say or think about it. It is a life of one's own that one should shape in such a way as it offers one satisfaction and contentment. I do not mean to be selfish and careless. You should be aware of the consequences and always reflect on yourself.

Just ask yourself questions every time you make a decision. Like:

Is it something I will like in the long run?

Is it what will give me eternal joy?

Is it the person I could imagine being by my side forever?

Is it worth investing my energy and time in?

I think if society did more of this, there would be less dissatisfaction.

So think carefully about what you want to do next. So don't ask me what you should or must do. I am still a nobody who writes hidden in the deep shadows and wants to inspire people to think.

You alone are the one who creates his life like a painting and decorates it with every little detail. Do me this one favor anyway and don't harm anyone with your way of living.

Y'all... we gotta stop operating on an individual, "what I want is all that matters" mindset. We're killing each other and by proxy we're killing ourselves. We need to lead with kindness, love and inclusivity.

No one is happy with the government and institutions that are in place, they're failing everyone, but we only see each other as the "other," instead of seeing each other as fellow humans just trying to get by, have fun, and feel good. We can make change if we combine our powers and resources.

Life is fucking messy as hell and we have to give room for people to be human, make mistakes and grow. Perfection is a myth and it's killing us. There's no right or wrong way to do things, just what is right for you - as long as you have explicit consent from those along for the ride with you. No more pretension, no more cool kid attitudes, no more tearing people down. Be real, be honest, be kind.

Let's operate from a communal stand point, we have to make life easier for each other. I have been through so much shit in my life - I grew up poor in Wyoming, I had to take care of my hospice elderly family members literally watching them die before my eyes, I've been homeless living out of a motel and campground with 6 people and 3 dogs to one room/tent, I've been bullied and outcast and almost committed suicide, I've been raped, and last summer I had to tell my mom that her organs were shutting down one by one and there was nothing else to be done.

No one person has the answer, no one person can do it all, figureheads are false idols. But as a group and with time, we can figure this shit out; pool our resources, knowledge, and ideas; and make things better. Everyone is important, everyone has a purpose.

We must communicate and say what we mean and mean what we say. We gotta ask for help and what we need because we will make sure you're taken care of. Trying to do it alone just leads to more isolation, pain, and suffering. We have all the resources and connections in the world at our fingertips, let's use them for good. Let's use them to make the world easier for each other.

Life is too fucking hard, we are all literally going to die. Every single one of us could have died from COVID. Let's not make it worse for each other. Let's build each other up, everyone wants to be included, let's help each other out. Lead with kindness and love.

Let's make the world a better place together. I believe in us.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? What are dead man walking tornadoes? :O

it’s a multi-vortex tornado. i dont remember the tribe it originates from (i think it was cherokee), but there’s a native american legend…? saying? that goes “if you see a man in a tornado, you are about to die.”

the most infamous shot of a dead man walking tornado hit jarrell, texas in 1997

it did so much damage to the town it caused the scale that tornados are measured by, the fijita scale, undergo revisions, and it made anchoring buildings in the tornado alley region pretty much mandatory. (it took the entire town off the map. only those who had taken shelter outside of the town or in underground bunkers survived.)

I know I don’t owe any of you anything but I still felt compelled to write about my long term absence. And I feel far enough away from the dangerous spot I was in to be able to make this comic. I have a therapist now, and she agreed that making this could be a very cathartic gesture, and the start of properly leaving these thoughts behind me. I am still, at seemingly random times, blindsided by fleeting desires to kill myself. They’re always passing urges, but it’s disarming, and uncomfortable. I worry sometimes that my brain’s spent so long thinking only about suicide that it’s forgotten how to think about anything else. Like, now that I've opened that door for myself, I'll never be able to fully shut it again. But I’m trying my best to encourage my mind in other directions. We'll see how that goes.

I am still donating all proceeds from my store to Palestinian causes. So far, I've donated over $15K, not including donations coming from my own pocket or the fundraising streams which jointly raised around $10K. In the time since I made my initial post about where this money would be going, the focus has shifted from aid organisations to directly donating to escape funds.

If you'd like to do the same, you can look at Operation Olive Branch, which hosts hundreds of Palestinian escape funds or donate to Safebow, which has helped facilitate the safe crossing and securing of important medical procedures for over 150 at-risk palestinians since the beginning of the genocide.
