When Steve and Tony move in together they discover a lot of differences.

In this article, we’ll explain (no tech jargon, promise!) what actually works, plus share our hands-on experience and top tips.

Your upscaling method depends heavily on the source image and the look you’re going for. We all have different ideas of what makes a sims beautiful – some love natural textures, even slight skin imperfections, while others prefer flawlessly smooth, hyper-sharp results.

We’ve tested different upscaling tools to help boost your screenshot quality. But to find your perfect match – the one that makes your shots look just right (by your standards!) – we recommend trying a few yourself.

You can enhance screenshots both before and after saving them! We’ve covered both approaches, so pick whichever suits you best.

Before Saving the Screenshot: SRWE (Simple Runtime Window Editor)

This tool is well-known in The Sims 4 community – there are tons of YouTube tutorials covering it. When it comes to improving image quality before taking a screenshot, SRWE is one of the first solutions that comes to mind.

It works by bypassing Windows' DPI scaling, allowing you to capture screenshots at a higher resolution without blurring.

Pros:

— A fantastic tool: it delivers the exact same image but in much better quality.

— No conflicts with GShade/ReShade: your presets will look exactly as intended.

— Free and easy to install, no hidden costs or complicated setup.

— No post-processing needed, preserves original texture and UI quality.

— No extra plugins or presets required, works right out of the box.

— Great performance even on low-end PCs. If your computer can run GShade, SRWE will work just fine.

Cons:

— Limited functionality.

— Some users find SRWE a bit tricky to set up (though we personally disagree).

Now, let’s break down how to use it and what results to expect.

Step 1

First things first – you'll need to download the program itself. It's available for free on GitHub – you can grab it here.

There's no real benefit to getting the version with pre-configured profiles, so just download the standard version without profiles.

Step 2

Extract the files from the archive.

It doesn’t matter where you store them on your computer – it won’t affect how the program works.

Step 3

Now it’s time to launch the game and switch from fullscreen to windowed mode in the settings. You can also do this with the Alt+Enter shortcut.

Step 4

Set up your shot exactly how you want it. Open the location, pose your sims, apply any presets if needed. At this point, you can take a regular screenshot (for comparison) using your usual method.

Step 5

1. Go back to the SRWE folder.

There are only two files inside – one of them launches the program (no installation needed).

2. In the window that opens, select The Sims 4 from the list.

3. Check all the boxes.

4. Image Size

You can set your screenshot size in a few different ways:

— The easiest method: Multiply your current resolution by the desired factor. For example, to upscale 1080p to 4K, multiply by 2. Tap Set. 

— Manual input: Enter your preferred pixel dimensions. Tap Set. 

— Aspect ratio mode: Choose a format (1:1, 16:9, 4:3, etc.) and set your target megapixels. The program will automatically calculate the dimensions. Tap Set. 

Honestly, you can experiment with any size. During our tests, even a weak PC handled an 8K screenshot without issues – though realistically, 4K is more than enough for most purposes.

Plus, if you're capturing in-game scenes (not just CAS), your screenshots will already be pretty large in file size. You probably won’t want them taking up even more space unnecessarily.

Step 6

Now when you return to the game, you'll notice the image has become significantly larger and no longer fits your screen resolution – you're only seeing a part of it.

Don't panic! Just wait for your preset to fully load (if you're using one), then take your screenshot as you normally would.

Step 7

Once you've captured your planned screenshot, head back to SRWE and click "Fake Fullscreen" to return to the original resolution.

Now let's compare our results.

For in-game screenshots, this method works much better if you have at least a moderately powerful PC. After upscaling, navigation can become tricky due to lag. That said, it's still completely doable since we've prepared our scene in advance.

Given Upscayl's minimalist interface and lack of detailed tutorials, we decided to provide a more thorough walkthrough.

Step 1

First, download the program from its GitHub page. It's completely free and open-source.

Multiple versions are available – choose the one matching your system. For standard Windows, download the file highlighted in the screenshot below.

Step 2

Run the installer as administrator.

Install location doesn't matter – it won't affect performance. Select the destination folder. Click "Install".

Step 3 

Upscayl includes several built-in AI models (good for testing), but we strongly recommend downloading custom models for better results:

1. Download the custom models pack here (also accessible via Settings → Add Custom Models in-app).

2. Extract the archive.

3. Navigate to custom-models-main → custom-models-main.

Move this folder to your Upscayl installation directory (optional: rename it).

Your Upscayl folder should now look like this:

— Launch Upscayl.

— Go to Settings and click Select Folder.

— Navigate to Upscayl → custom-models-main → models

Critical: The folder must be named "models" – don't rename it.

Step 4

Now that you have both the default and custom models loaded, it's time to start enhancing your screenshots.

1. Click Select Image or simply drag and drop your file into the processing area.

2. Choose Upscale Factor.

While Upscayl supports up to 16x magnification, it warns that anything above 5x may severely strain your system.

For optimal results, stick with 2x to 4x.

3. Select AI Model.

Click the Select AI Model dropdown: default models show before/after previews, custom models appear as a text list.

4. Experiment! Try different models on the same screenshot. Test various scales (2x, 3x, 4x) – sometimes better results come from modest scaling, while 4x might degrade quality. 

For this demo, we'll use the first default model.

5. Click to begin enhancement.

6. Processing time duration depends on original image quality, selected parameters and your PC's power (may complete quickly or take several minutes). 

After processing, you'll see a clear side-by-side comparison of the changes.

7. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) for advanced viewing options. 

Magnifying lens compares original vs. enhanced versions side-by-side. 

Also you may reset to original and revert all changes instantly.

8. Save your image.

By default, Upscayl saves to the source image's folder. To change this click Set Output Folder.

9. After this, use the Ctrl+S keyboard shortcut, and the new image will be saved. The original filename will be appended with the name of the AI model used and the upscaling scale applied.

You can also use batch processing. Before loading images, you simply need to enable batch loading.

In the settings, there are different format options for saving processed images: PNG, JPG, WEBP. To preserve the best quality, we recommend choosing PNG.

Before we dive into this scam, please note that this scam is very dangerous as it reportedly deals with identity theft and concludes with the theft and use of your stolen information for nefarious purposes.

As it should go with any stranger you talk to on the internet, you should never willingly give out any of your personal information such as: real name, date of birth, address, phone number, credit card/bank information, photos of yourself or your bank, credit, social security card, ect, to a stranger on the internet who promises you money.

1 - How it starts.

This scam typically starts by someone receiving an email, or in the images we will be examining today, a tumblr user receiving a DM- or, well, several DM's, from users who were trying to 'bless them with good tidings of the universe' and that it was 'a sign from the almighty' and 'it was fate' and all that nonsense... to try and then recruit them to join the Illuminati.

Their blogs are full of generic AI generated images, philosophical scripture/nonsense, links to Illuminati websites/content that seem suspicious.

The offer of the impossible.

Wealth (of an undisclosed amount) to help the homeless with food and resources. Some 'means' of aiding your business and/or helping you attain any job position you desire in your work place. Some ✨magical✨ means of granting you recognition in your community. (As if they can suddenly make people change their opinions of you...)

Then instant request/demand that they need you to use Telegram for communication.

Telegram is a service that a lot of scammers use, and they use it because they can easily communicate with other scammers (and victims) there, and run their scams through it without it usually being able to be used as evidence should something like Identity Theft occur.

2 - How this scam works.

This scam works by... well, what I find to be the most obvious tactic that a lot of scammers use:

The life changing offer of a lot money... You just need to do a little something in return... ;)

From here I will be pulling information from this article from Bitdefender, one of the most well known and well trusted Antivirus brands on the market today. (That I use in fact! :D)

In regards to the emails- the original method this scam was spread:

The spam emails were traced to IP addresses in Nigeria (40%), South Africa (16%), the US (14%), the Netherlands (13%), and Argentina and Brazil (with 5% each).

Here are a list of benefits the Illuminati claims they can offer you if you join, taken from the Bitdefender article as well:

I have recently changed my tune about backgrounds. If you would like a background, let me know and i will tell you if i think im up to it. Complex backgrounds are a fee of +%50 as they take a lot of time. If you have multiple characters, the background price is calculated AFTER the price of the additional characters. It is up to me to decide what a complex background is.

Simple/abstract backgrounds remain free of charge. If i think a work would benefit from it, i will put a solid or swirly colored shape behind it and send you a version with and without the background so you can decide which you like better. You may request a basic background on your own.

What is the process?

It's pretty simple! Send me a dm with a photo of your character(s) and tell me what you'd like. Let me know if you need a few days to get the money, or if there's a time constraint (like if the piece is a birthday or holiday gift). If you don't have an idea for a pose, please include a brief description of their personality. If there's characters interacting, let me know their relationship to one another and their dynamic.

I will respond with a price and if you're ok with proceeding I will mock up a vague sketch so you can get an idea of what it would look like. This will be watermarked and it will not even be very recognizable as your character. That's because I have been scammed and ghosted in the past, even with a very rough and watermarked sketch.

After that you will send 100% of the payment in order for me to proceed. Do not send payment via friends and family. I don't want to be banned from paypal lol

I work on a first come first serve basis, but i may work on a piece while waiting for approval on another. I will let you know if there is someone ahead of you. Once payment is received i will message you frequently with updates and for approval. Once lineart is finalized, i will update less often in order to creater a better final reveal. My 2024 Essay/Analysis

It’s the end of the year once again, this year was a huge roller coaster, probably the biggest, from grief to hopelessness to having a better ending. As said before, I’m going to break down each month and rank them with a synopsis of them

Let’s get right into it

1. January (7)

This month was fairly decent, nothing much happened this month from what I remember, but the benefit was starting my 11th Grade show.

2. February (11)

This month was the second worst of 2024, this was because someone I was close to became very unwell this whole month which ended up in them passing away on the 24th, this was my first time dealing with a passing of a close person in my life, so it was very rough to deal with. I was speechless when I found it out but also just very upset.

3. March (4)

This month was also pretty decent, I had my 11th Grade show which ended up magnificent and was the beginning of the fourth chapter of the PUZZLEVISION saga which added on to Mr. Puzzles and his character which made me extremely hyped.

4. April (9)

This month was great at the start, but bad at the end. It started with complications with my ex at first which just ended up in me making a very long exposure doc, but after that, it was me being hyped up for the PUZZLEVISION stuff and ended up really enjoying the PUZZLEVISION movie where I got hooked onto Creative Control; however, four days after the release of PUZZLEVISION, someone who was also very close to me passed away which ended up in grief.

5. May (5)

This month was probably one of my tops, I had Prom which was also on the same day Mr. Puzzles returned via Mario The Exploro and TADC episode 2 released, other than that it was pretty chill, besides a specific someone raiding my stream and harassing me throughout the month.

6. June (12)

This month was the worst month I experienced in 2024, I faced a ton of online harassment from my past, rumors, and accusations of very bad stuff like p3d0ph1l14 and r4c1$m, this caused a ton of traumatic events which harmed me both mentally and physically. I got death threats, dox threats, was fat shamed (despite them not knowing what my body looked like), told I should be thrown in a ditch, everyone kept leaving, and was called a “bitch” COUNTLESS times; if I had a nickel for every time someone called me that this year, I’d be rich. I also had to deal with final exams, this whole entire month was nothing but negative which caused the entire rollercoaster of the year to plummet to the lowest of the low, this was the worst I had ever felt in my life; however, the best thing of this month was interacting with Atticus Shaffer, the voice actor of Ono from The Lion Guard.

7. July (3)

This month got a bit better, I got a new girlfriend who treats me a million times better than my ex and we started dating, I had my birthday which was a lot of fun and one day after, “A Night At SMG4’s” released and I watched it with my best friend, we had a lot of fun when she came. I also got more into Church, Christianity, and got baptized on the 28th.

8. August (10)

This month started out a little calm since Part 1 of the Ms. Puzzles fan dubs released and I worked on SMG4 The Musical, but got rough because of that one person who harassed me in my streams who started to get progressively worse; post something about me that’s complete bullshit, tell me to use a gun as a $H substitute, raid my Discord server, record my voice without my consent or knowledge, use my voice as AI, and gaslight/manipulate everyone, including a friend of mine who was under his “control”, this caused huge devastation in my server and online which ended up in a lot of negativity, he eventually stopped thanks to my friend who was manipulated by him. The best thing of this month was the finale of Murder Drones. At the end of this month, I joined RichardAnimations’ Discord Server

9. September (2)

This month was pretty decent, started my first year of 12th Grade and just had regular things, I did feel different after I got back from Summer Vacation though, I started to be friends with everyone in Richard’s server including Richard himself, even befriend someone. This was also the month where Part 6 of my Ms. Puzzles fan dub released which became the most popular. The worst thing of this month was the discovery that James Earl Jones passed away.

10. October (1)

This month was the best month of 2024, TADC Episode 3 released and it was really good. While I did have a lot of stress on my mind and battling with something I’d rather not talk about at the beginning, my 12th Grade show got revealed and I had a lot of hype for WOTFI 2024 both before and after the trailer came out which distracted my negative thinking, but when the trailer came out, that’s when I got very hyperfixated on Chapter 6 of the Puzzlevision Saga, I went to a Halloween event the day the trailer came out dressed up as Mr. Puzzles and someone noticed me, it was so fun dressing up as Mr. Puzzles and being him for the day, WOTFI 2024 came out and I made it on time after being scared I wouldn’t make it and I was already obsessed with it, especially Puzzle Park. I first heard it and thought it was the same scenario as “The Wonderful Puzzle Park” at the beginning of the “rap”, but instead it was the song and my jaw DROPPED when the beat changed and I was VIBING IN MY SEAT when watching and listening to it, I have listened to it every day since WOTFI 2024 released and haven’t broken the streak once and this also caused me to have an interaction with Brendan Blaber himself, the voice actor of Mr. Puzzles. That same day was also Homecoming and I had a lot of fun there. October 19th, 2024 was easily the best day of 2024. Listening to “The Wonderful Puzzle Park” gives me nostalgia of sitting in my seat and watching WOTFI 2024 because it was that good. After that, I was singing Puzzle Park almost 24/7, in the shower, while playing video games, even lip syncing and humming it at school. My “WOTFI 2024 Rap But The Lyrics Are What Happens On Screen” video went down as my second most popular video and in October, I reached ≈1.5K subscribers in less than a month which is the most I’ve achieved in less than a month in the entirety of TLG88 history. I also discovered that I got the lead role in my 12th Grade show. When Halloween came, I dressed up as Mr. Puzzles and everyone kept saying my costume was nice and someone said I quote, “Had the drip” which made me laugh, Halloween was also one of the best days of 2024.

11. November (6)

This month started out a little rough but ended up being a bit neutral for me, it wasn’t good or bad, just neutral. The release of SMG4 The Musical came out though and I started working on a secret AU that I might announce soon. The best part of this month was hands down watching Wicked and it pays respect to someone who was very dear to me.

12. December (8)

There isn’t much about this year that much, I had the final part of VOMPBHF which turned out well, but this month just didn’t feel like Christmas was coming at all, no matter what was showing up that was Christmas related, this was later changed when I watched nostalgic Christmas movies. Christmas was meh. The best part of this year was TADC Episode 4 and getting/playing In Stars And Time which has become my second favorite video game and I created the SMG4 x In Stars And Time AU.

The best day of 2024: October 19th, 2024

The worst day of 2024: June 8th, 2024

Overall I thought this year was a little shitty in the beginning then turned really shitty in the middle and got so much better in October then it went slightly downhill after that. Some of the stuff that happened this year was pretty chaotic outside of my own life such as thousands of YouTubers being exposed for being p3d0s and horrible people LIKE OH MY GOODNESS IS IT THAT HARD TO BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE?! P3D0S ARE BAD AND YOU SHOULD’VE KNOWN THAT SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME! We also lost the lives of so many celebrities such as James Earl Jones and Ken Page. This year has been stressing for me and I believe the entire world for all of these things arising. I hope that 2025 will be a better year than this year because this year was the worst year of my life, but it doesn’t mean that things didn’t cheer me up, because things definitely cheered me up this year, but overall it was very stressing and probably the worst year of my life

Fed expects the job market ‘to weaken substantially’ on Trump’s tariffs

Economists and top policymakers at the Federal Reserve see a growing risk of America’s job market weakening because of President Donald Trump’s erratic trade war, according to minutes from the central bank’s latest policy released Wednesday.

“The labor market was expected to weaken substantially,” the minutes said, adding that Fed economists at the May 6-7 meeting also revised up their projections for inflation this year and lowered their expectations for economic growth. Fed policymakers also fretted over whether the labor market’s resilience could persist, especially if Trump continues with his haphazard on-again, off-again tariff regime.

“Participants assessed that there was a risk that the labor market would weaken in coming months, that considerable uncertainty surrounded the outlook for the labor market, and that outcomes would depend importantly on the evolution of trade policy as well as other government policies,” the minutes said.

Earlier this month, Fed officials voted to hold borrowing costs steady for the third consecutive meeting, waiting for clarity on the direction of Trump’s policies and how the US economy will respond to his massive policy shifts.

The labor market’s resilience has also allowed Fed officials to stay on hold, since it means they don’t have to step in to provide the economy with some relief through a rate cut. But that could change if it turns out hiring is slowing sharply, or even declining.

Some Fed officials noted that “their contacts and business survey respondents reported limiting or pausing hiring because of elevated uncertainty.”

But so far, things don’t look too shabby for the US labor market. Last month, unemployment stood at a low 4.2% as employers added a robust 177,000 jobs. New applications for unemployment benefits also remain relatively low.

Easing trade tensions?

The US economy’s future now largely hinges on what happens with Trump’s ever-evolving trade war, but it seems like tensions have mostly eased since early April, when Trump unveiled a massive tariff hike on dozens of countries.

Trump delayed his so-called “reciprocal” tariffs until July 9, after they briefly went into effect. Since then, some countries have signaled they’re willing to negotiate and potentially strike a full trade deal with the United States. On May 8, the United Kingdom was the first trading partner to announce an agreement with the US, which wasn’t a fleshed-out trade deal, but rather a concept of a framework.

Then, on May 12, China and the US jointly announced that both countries will drastically roll back tariffs on each other’s goods for an initial 90-day period. And the European Union this week said it is willing to fast-track trade negotiations with the US, which prompted Trump to back down from his recent threat to impose a 50% tariff on imports from the EU.

But the clock is ticking on more than 100 trade deals that Trump has to get done by early July. And China still has a bone to pick over a few issues. Last week, China’s Commerce Ministry said the US is “undermining” the framework both countries laid out in Geneva earlier this month, after the Trump administration warned companies against using AI chips made by Chinese tech titan Huawei. Beijing has also said it doesn’t have any role to play in stemming the flow of fentanyl into the US, defying Trump’s demand that it does something to stop the scourge of the drug.

Why the labor market matters

The health of the labor market is crucial because it is precisely how Americans are able to fuel the economy with their dollars. Consumer spending makes up about 70% of the US economy.

If layoffs start to rise, Americans would be forced to rein in their spending, triggering a downward spiral that would lead to weaker economic growth and even more layoffs.

The air is still rife with uncertainty for the Fed, businesses and consumers. The University of Michigan said in a preliminary survey that consumer sentiment this month dropped to its second-lowest reading on records going back to 1952, while the Conference Board said Americans felt more upbeat in May for the first time in months.

It's not as useful as some people want you to believe. A lot of people pushing for the acceptance of this kind of software are the same tech bros that invested in crypto currency and were trying to sell you NFTs, which should tell you enough.

All of this "it's democratizing art!" and "finally, people can make art even if they don't have natural talent!" is snake oil.

You know where my "natural talent" came from? I started drawing when I was 4 or 5 years old. I drew at least one thing per day for over 20 years. I earned the ability to crank out dumb doodles on a whim.

You can't just show up one day and think you deserve to make artwork without putting in the work to learn and get good at it. Art's importance comes from the length of time needed to learn to master it. And I don't just mean drawings, I mean music, film, food, everything. No matter what it is, effort is value.

Financial value, sentimental value, it doesn't matter. All value is derived from the effort required to make it.

If you can just push a button and churn out artwork en masse, that devalues the importance of art. I mentioned this back with the Martin Scorsese ask, but it's like, which has more value? An original hand-made piece of artwork, or a print of that artwork? Prints are easy to mass produce. You can get a nice, high quality, glossy print of the Mona Lisa almost for free at this point. But the actual Mona Lisa, the original product, is actually valuable beyond value.

Art prints are literally just replicating a single file over and over and over again, but the original is one-of-a-kind and where all the effort is most evident. All the layers of paint can be felt as DaVinci sought perfection in his work. That's what makes it special. That's what makes it important.

My uncle does woodworking. He's so good at it, he gave my Mom an end table that looks like it came from a high-tier furniture store. A mass-produced end table like that would be at least $100. He made it by hand. It is beautiful. I will treasure that end table forever.

Effort is value.

If you spend any length of time looking at art websites where AI art is allowed (such as deviantart or pixiv), what you'll often find is these AI art chumps submitting massive amounts of artwork. They'll submit 10, 20, 40+ images a day, all from the same prompt, all with slight differences, because to them, every single thing the generator produces is worth submitting.

Even when I was drawing regularly, I could only really do maybe one finished piece per day. Two if you were lucky. Not only because sketching, inking, coloring and shading would take so long, but because after I was done the tank was empty. I'd used up all my effort for the day and had no more creativity left to give.

All the claims of "letting people without artistic talent generate art" are bogus because it throws the whole signal-to-noise ratio out of wack. Too much signal in itself becomes noise. And it devalues the effort that real artwork takes, because real artwork is now part of that noise, instead of rising above it.

When anyone can vomit out hundreds or even thousands of AI generated images that are of decent-to-good quality, a lot of what would be considered "b-tier" artwork ceases to be important anymore.

In a world where AI generated images are normalized, only the top 0.1% of artwork (your Mona Lisas) are considered to have real value. And who benefits the most from that kind of stuff? Rich people. Rich people who can afford to drop a million dollars on a historic piece of hand-crafted artwork. And just to be clear: these are exactly the same people who are trying to sell you on how important AI generator software is going to be going forward.

Or to simplify it even more: the people who stand to profit the most from AI "art" are the ones trying the hardest to sell you on its benefits. Because it benefits them more than it will ever benefit you.

Because, full disclosure, over this last week, a friend of mine has been having a lot of fun with Bing's new image generator feature, and I couldn't help but also play with the toy. The quality of images it can generate is shocking.

Microsoft, in their endless desperation to get anyone to use Bing on purpose, is clearly playing with fire here.

When effort is value and value is effortless, nothing has any value anymore.

I understand how, if you aren't an artist, this is all probably incredibly difficult to comprehend. The lure of fast and easy artwork from a simple line of text is a net gain to you, and nothing else really matters to your perspective. But imagine all of the up-and-coming artists who get completely pushed out of the conversation because of how easy it is to crap out endless AI generator output. I spent 20 years drawing every day for results that can be beaten in 20 seconds.

How many future artists is that going to discourage? There's a lot of buzz, now more than ever, about "late stage capitalism" and the way that's manifesting in our lives. When AI generated images are "good enough", how is that going to change the world around us?

You can't just think, "we'll figure something out" because the people trying to control this narrative do not have your best interests in mind. The people trying to control this narrative think they still don't have enough money yet even though there's not much money left to give them.

Their solution is to stop paying people to do work that they can get a computer to do for free, even if it means destroying the entire foundation of human culture. Long term destruction for short term gain. The same old story.
