Validating yourself and experiences sounds like:
It’s okay to recognize that this is difficult
It’s understandable that I’m feel upset
I am listening to what my body needs
I’m taking things one step at that’s okay
My pain is real it’s okay to say “no”
Resting is productive
My well-being is important
I deserve appropriate my health
All my feelings are valid
It’s okay to cancel plans if I need to
I need to leave this event now and that okay

Have you ever made your therapist scream "WHAT THE FUCK!?!?" at an event in your life everyone tried to tell you was not that special? I have. Most validating moment of my life.
10/10 would try again.

Half way through the second night of Starkid we were talking about Joey and my partner said "No, I get it now. I understand why you gender him so much. He's just a lanky guy and the way he struts down those stairs flailing those limbs around. That's how you move about too."

I just don't know how I'm going to live with myself, he said. It was a conclusion reached by many people in the Grey Room and it was always amazing and strangely consoling to Ivy how the audience would let the statement lie. You never tried to talk a person out of what had been said, or felt. Outside of the Grey Rooms people tended to say, You won't always feel that way and That's not true and even You don't mean it. But not here.

Sound Parenting Advice ……4/13/25
Sound parenting advice if you want to raise healthy, functional children: consistency, positive validating messages about themselves and their feelings, gentle criticism of inappropriate behavior, no negative or shaming messages about their personhood. Also, mind your own behavior, attitudes & communications about & to others. To paraphrase John Bradshaw, what children live with, they learn and…

Gender euphoria post
So yesterday at rehearsal everyone was walking to the piano for warm ups and my friend stopped and started saying “go ahead” to everyone. To spite him (jokingly) and to get him to move along I stopped next to him and he was like “bruh, ladies first!” I didn’t move bc a.) fuck that sexist saying (even though he didn’t mean it in that way), b.) still spiting him/trying to get him to go, and c.) I’m not a girl, but then he said, “sorry, demis first”, and damn it, I wasn’t going to go before but I had to listen then bc that shit was so validating
Anyway day in the life of a demigirl who rarely gets recognized for who she is got recognized yesterday and they wanted to share about it so here we are

Story time
But with a Dasey twist
So— I grew up watching Life with Derek. Dasey was the first ship I ever shipped and I am CONVINCED it was like a girls gateway drug into the taboo. Still, as I got older, the show wasn’t running anymore and, even with the occasional fan video or fiction I would nostalgically/curiously indulge in (like a relapse), the whole thing felt like a fever dream.
Now, let’s fast forward a bit…
My husband and I are house sitting for my parents because they are on vacation. There is a Roku in the family room and, as I was scrolling through the random live TV options Roku had because why not I have time, I discover the surreal and unexpected Life with Derek CHANNEL. The whole channel is called Life with Derek and all it does is show episodes and clips from the show. So, of course, we know what I’m doing this summer.
My husband has heard me rant and rave about this show sporadically for years, but I don’t think he really understood, really believed the extent of the Dasey in this show. Even I doubted myself. Even with the fan vids/fics, I doubted that we all somehow weren’t projecting somehow like a form of mass hysteria.
BUT NO GUYS! THE DASEY IS REAL! We’ve been watching for a couple days now and… My husband is SCREAMING about this show now. It’s both hilarious and validating because SEE I TOLD YOU!
Anyway, we’ve gotten to the point that we are mostly watching reruns and would you believe me if I told you that my husband started looking for ways to stream Vacation with Derek unprompted, without me even mentioning it? Because he did. Of course VWD is next to being completely unavailable (except for something unlisted on YT because bless this fandom) but guess what we are doing this weekend!
Lol I never would have expected LWD to somehow bring me and my husband closer and become something that we would deep dive (and dissect and analyze) but here we are!
(Side note: we are watching Arrested Development right now, too, and don’t even get me started on whatever vibes are between Michael and Lindsay omfg)

Just got a validating, yet concerning, odd compliment from our girlfriend that Tumblr will probably appreciate. So here y’all go:
“You have the backstory of a villain. Like a child murderer who killed their parents. But you chose to be a good person despite it all.”

“This thing is legally dubious and therefore technically unenforceable.” Is not a “useless liberal gotcha” it’s how legalism works in this country. Tying up stupidly worded EOs in court is the quickest way to keep them from being implemented. It is the definition of “doing something.” But it doesn’t usually involve much tweeting so of course a certain type of leftist feels obligated to mock it.

My favorite thing about J. Jonah Jameson is that he just hates Spider-Man. He supports mutants and doesn't hate enhanced people. He's not racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic. He just hates Spider-Man. And I'm half convinced that he's faking for the publicity.
He'd probably get pissed if he hears someone hating on Spider-Man for being enhanced.
"Spiderman isn't a menace because he can climb walls! He's a menace because he's climbing walls without a license or safety equipment! He's setting a bad example!"
"I just want you to know that you that your identity as an enhanced person is valid. Your identity as Spiderman is trash."
