#Xisuma Costume Party

I’m thinking about Keralis and Ren in HC9.
Them finding having a close friend and business partner in the other, camping and host meetings over braai. The nights spent getting Gigalogs ready. And sure as time goes on Keralis see’s Rendog less and less, but that’s just because he lives far away, they still care.
RenTheDog becomes a king yet Keralis and RenTheKing still seem to still have very good relations. The power dynamic is never really brought up.
So his rule is left untouched, not really talked about.
Even as coups are planned and nations are made Keralis still finds himself unsure where his place is in all of this, perhaps no place at all..
Ren still remembers the party though. The party that Keralis thought nothing really of it. After all most if not all of the king’s court was there so no one should get punished right?. But then Scar shows up and takes his head, betrayal to one, retaliation for a betrayal to the other.
The money dries up too, and it’s degreed he’s not allowed to mine anymore. Something he sees right after his mining competition with lovely xBCrafted. What he sees as fake money is diluting the system.
So Keralis is left making a bitter choice.
He thinks he needs to contact Doc.
A rhyming of history. Another connection the crown has burned.

the xisuma costume party just shows again that the fanon’s interpretation of xisuma as a ‘scary admin who’s always very serious’ is just an interpretation, because the real xisuma is a wet cat that gets bullied by his server mates and forgets his own head when respawning

King's private area violators! WANTED! 12 Xisumas!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the funniest moments from season 9, the Great Xisuma Party! I've discovered for myself, that I REALLY like Hermits dressing up as eachother... Here is my interpretations of Xisuma costumes, I've tried to make them somewhat uniform, but distinct from one another... Hope, every mob reads by the colouring and helmets...

after the xisuma costume party, everyone gifted their handmade costumes to x! This included:
a fully kitted out frog-suma suit with some interesting features, including a fireworks display whenever one sneezes into their elbow.
a hand-knit strider-suma onesie
literally just a tuxedo – a very nice tuxedo, and it fits x very well!
a yeti costume with a warning label: DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE HANDS. WILL GIVE YOU FROSTBITE
old leather armor spraypainted pink. don't judge, he was on a budget! usually he'd make a new set for the occasion
among others- X puts them deep in his closet and decides not to think about the horrors he will find when he has to pack up for season 10

Some details I noticed on the xisuma costumes that the hermits decided to wear, because honestly it's so funny how despite dressing as another hermit they still stayed on brand
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tango went to the party as Yeti-Xisuma, keeping his frost theme
Joe as Axolotl-Xisuma matches his axolotl shop

also Hypno has the same eyes as a shulker, Shulker!Hypno hybrid confirmed

In my mind, the Xisuma costume party was either a grand masquerade where everyone is dressed artfully based on the colors and designs of Xisuma’s skins OR everyone made their costumes in like five minutes out of bedsheets and cardboard boxes. Both of these options are ideal

the fact that the true beginning of the downfall arc of the king appears to have been “impulse throws a xisuma costume party” is hysterical to me. can you imagine later us trying to talk about the catalyst for this and having to start with “so everyone went to hang out in ren’s basement dressed up as xisumavoid, including xisuma“

Grian us hosting a Halloween costume party abd everyone is dressed up. Xisuma is running late tho since he was spacing out when doing admin work.
Xisuma is dressed up as Dorothy from wizard of oz and no one knows xisuma likes or even wears dresses untill xisuma walked into grians base and everyone froze when seeing there admin in a Dorothy dress.
Xisuma honestly thought he did something wrong untill he saw all there faces go bright red and well xosuma was not able to walk for a while after
He got the idea after seeing Iskall's Dorothy, all that time ago. If he weren't so much taller than the man then he would've just stole his dress - he's pretty sure Iskall wouldn't have noticed.
If X knew the fate of his carefully done braids, he would not have put so much effort into them. They lasted less time than it took for him to do them! Pesky hermits being so touchy, jeez!

Xisuma’s birthday party was great! event of the century! It had all the makings of a good party:
great tunes
it was a surprise party! (birthday boy did not know it was his birthday)
costumes (birthday boy did not know about this either, but that’s okay because the dress code was being dressed like him)
party favours (embezzled)
rituals with friends!
breaking and entering
party only had to be postponed because someone died once!
the cops showed up at the end and only one person got caught (and he was also a cop so that’s fine!)

xisuma’s bday party is the weirdest and possibly THE funniest thing that has happened in s9
started off strong with the costumes
then cleo’s death
the party games
the xisuma impressions (slightly disappointed that joe didn’t do his impression of xisuma doing an impression of a drill)
the irony of xisuma winning
and ren’s dramatic entrance having everyone scram “ITS THE COPS CHEESE IT!” + grian’s jumpscare horn
finally ending with the perfectly cut sound of ren starting to give a stern talking to bdubs “bdoubleo how could you let this happen”
absolute chaos of every single brand for each hermit
truly beautiful

I know we all think False is like, anti King Ren but watching her latest ep has got me thinking in the opposite direction for a bit?
She says she’s going to mess with the King, but she’s also really invested in the Server Quests— for the diamonds of course, duh, we’ve got to run Ren dry. And she’s trying to compete with Xisuma to get the most amount of diamond blocks at the Arch of Champions— again of course to “waste” Ren’s precious supply of diamonds. And she takes up the quest of decorating the King’s bedroom, and instead of trapping it or going Bdubs style pink, she decorates it nicely to fit in with the aesthetic, complete with cute little details like a fish tank and a laptop, and since the bedroom is so nice and well furnished, Ren will have to stay in his room all day and not attend to his duties! Aha! I’m putting in so much effort to distract Ren! And I don’t really care about the monarchy! This is just to make Ren think I’m on his side!
And if that’s not enough, False notices the streets are too dark and in need of lighting, and mentions telling it to Ren. Which you can interpret it in the cc way — “Hey I’ve got a new quest idea which might help” or the character way — “I actually don’t care about the King, but I’m doing a lot of Sever Quests, I built his bedroom, and I’m suggesting ways that the King can do better, but I’m totally not supporting the King. Not at all”. So False’s responsible instincts are overriding the rest lmao. Accidentally becomes an advisor.
After the X costume party, False escapes immediately and hides Impulse’s invitation so Ren can’t see it. Y’know, for a hermit who’s been lightly mocking Ren’s regime since the start, she seems awfully concerned about how he might see her… 🤨 but of course, this is all just a front. To make Ren lower his guard and to avoid getting into trouble. She’s doing all the quests just to waste Ren’s resources, and is totally not supporting him personally. She’s given him a genuinely nice room totally not to impress him, but to distract him. It’s simple deception, really…

Drabble #21 for @hermitadaymay - Xisuma
This had gone too far.
The bones spoke to him, he thought. He put together a costume for them, put them on all his tools, listened when they whispered their ossified secrets to him alone.
Was it the bones? Or was it what grew inside them, biding its time, waiting for its chance to spread? The dark fabric that embraced Xisuma like a cloak - was it a part of the plan, too?
There was a reason Xisuma - slowly - shunned the bone mage guise after the royal costume party. There was a reason he attended the party looking like a Warden.

Xisuma doesn’t have or go to parties often. He’s quite an introvert. Whenever he goes to things like costume parties, he doesn’t always get the memo!
Thank goodness he didn't have to get the memo to show up well dressed for the most recent party! His super accurate Xisuma costume was the talk of the server. :)

It was the song that caught his attention. Ren had just come back to the castle, his castle, and heard very odd music coming from the vault. He peered down into it, and saw the heads of a crowd of people, all just casually hanging out with the diamond reserves.
“Uh, guys?”
And then the assembled crowd looked up as one, and for a moment, the breath in Ren’s throat seized as he looked down upon a sea of Xisuma’s faces. He imagined them reaching out their hands as one and tearing at his clothes, taking his crown, telling him he was no longer king, that the admin was in power now, and always had been.
But no, no, it was just a costume party, of course. The moment of panic burrowed back under the king’s skin as he saw each person holding up their Xisuma mask with a delicate pole, or tied behind their head.
“EXCUSE ME!” Ren dropped down, megaphone held to his mouth, a flurry of concerned murmuring greeting him. “What on earth is all of this?”
There was a flurry of rockets and sparks, and almost every Xisuma took off, fleeing the party like rats from a pantry. Only one remained, and he was already groveling, bowing so low that there was no question as to who was under the mask.
“Bdouble0, what is the meaning of this?” Ren shouted into the megaphone, reaching over and pushing up the mask his right hand man wore.
“I- my liege, I thought this was approved by you!” Bdubs took off his Xisuma mask and set it on the jukebox.
“Why on earth would I arrange for a party to be held in the vault, penetrating my most private of areas?” Ren blustered.
“Yeah, I did think the party favors of diamond blocks was a bit out of character for you.” Bdubs said, eyes then widening at what he’d revealed.
“WHAT?” Ren looked around, then, shouting expletives into his megaphone, flew back up to the castle main, and out towards the royal quest area, hoping to catch someone guilty around. But the area was silent, and Ren landed by the entrance with a huff of annoyance. Bdubs landed next to him after a moment.
“Who arranged this?” Ren asked.
“Impulse.” Bdubs replied.
“Impulse…” Ren hummed, walking over to the royal priority quest and taking out the placemarker Impulse head that lay inside. He held it up so he was eye-level with the dwarven man’s head. “The to-the-books rule follower? You’re sure he didn’t have someone whispering in his ear? I’ve heard the local cleaning lady is a bit of a menace. Or perhaps a soulmate from another land…” Ren’s ears flattened as he came his made-up conclusion.
Bdubs held out his hands. “My king. I am loyal to you and only you.”
“Perhaps you are correct, sir Bdouble0.” Ren sighed. “It was just the masks… Xisuma is no leader, but he does have certain powers that I… lack.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t worry about it, Ren.” Bdubs said soothingly. “Why would the people ever turn on you? You’re a wonderful king.”
Ren nodded slowly, not quite believing either one of them.
