i think that ultimately, Minecraft is a game that's meant to be shared. At some point or another, everyone falls into the 'Minecraft isn't fun anymore :(' funk, myself included. Maybe you've defeated the ender dragon more times than you can count. Maybe your creative world is starting to feel a little crowded.

but i think that a huge portion of the joy comes from the company you play with. i know that the cave and cliffs update is a thing of the past, but my brothers and i hadn't gotten around to finding a lush cave by natural means. so with nothing better to do, we've dedicated these past few days to finding one. and you know what? i've been having fun! i've been staying up late because i don't wanna turn my game off! and this morning, when we all sat in stunned silence because the beauty of a cave we had found took our breath away, i was reminded of the joy of the game.

i thought i had discovered everything worth finding, but its experiences like these that make me fall in love with the game all over again. the world of Minecraft is slowly coming back to life, and its not something to be experienced by yourself. there's fish in the oceans and flowers scattered along the hills and fascinating biomes that are in need of discovering! there are new things to love, and there should be people to love them with.

Decided to polish some jacket designs!

Emmet originally received a strait from the League after they thought he posed a safety risk to others and mandated him to wear it. Big surprise, they literally just went to a Unovan hospital and asked if they had any of the old jackets lying around. It's ill-fitting and unpleasant, not to mention the hasty edits they made to his uniform to act as a secondary restraint looks awful. As much as he is still operating as usual, having to walk around in the strait is humiliating and dehumanizing, especially because of the stares from other people.

Of course this crime against dignity and fashion had to be corrected, so Elesa called her designers and offered to make the League Council a more appropriate uniform for him. The only rule given was that it must still restrain as well as the original straitjacket, so Elesa ended up modelling the jacket after a vest and the secondary restraint after a double-breasted greatcoat. It's meant to look like clothing, more like everyday wear than something out of an asylum. It also uses hand covers (i.e. socks) instead of a grossly oversized sleeve to keep the hands restrained.

It resolves a lot of the issues Emmet had with the original, namely that it blends in with the crowd rather than making him stick out. It also has an air of professionalism and formality that the original didn't have. He's much more willing to wear it and keep it on, as well as being more comfortable in it.

I'm struggling to describe this in sentences so as for the differences:

League Straitjacket:

actual retired straitjacket from hospital storage

made of old canvas and leather

uses oversized belted sleeves to restrain arms

uses belts and buckles to restrain upper arms and tighten back

can't fit anything thicker than a tank top underneath

Elesa's Modified Straitvest:

bespoke articles custom tailored to Emmet's measurements

made from stiff cotton and fabric straps

uses belted cuffs and hand covers to restrain arms

uses straps and locking slide buckles to restrain upper arms and tighten back

able to fit a collared shirt underneath

Elesa's outfit also has the added bonus of being more breathable, soft, and being able to function as regular clothes.

So... quick update on the Eurovision situation

The EBU decided that Israel can compete despite their country being under an active Genocide investigation by the ICJ. Their delegation have gone on to antagonise other contestants by filming them for their social media without permission and refusing to remove it when asked, harass journalists who have questioned if their inclusion is appropriate, and their commentators have made horrendous comments about the Irish contestant... all without sanction.

Meanwhile the Dutch contestant got into an undisclosed 'incident' with a female member of the production crew and they've referred it to the police and flat out disqualified him from the contest with less than 12 hours notice...

Which seems like a tremendous act of double standards at an event that is already marred by serious controversy. Obviously the second is not acceptable, but very difficult to understand how the first somehow... is?

re: gatekeeping

i've seen this argument come up again and again across multiple blogs and i feel like it's doing such a disservice to the creative community of this fandom and is worth speaking about (especially considering that some people expressed their reluctance to create in response to the recent events)

and i just wanted to say that YES. no one owns specific scenes. YES. people are allowed to gif the same characters. hell, as far as i've seen this community is incredibly creative and generous, sharing their mods and reshade presets and scenic locations.

to me PERSONALLY, the line is crossed when there's no transparency. when it's a repeated behavior. when there's no respect or regard to your fellow creators or their wishes.

i want to be very clear that this was all brought up in regards to a VERY specific case. a very nuanced case with a lot of context and i don't think it should be used to view the community as a whole.

outside of it and on the bigger scale, this community is full of incredibly skilled and creative individuals. helpful individuals. ones that WANT to inspire and encourage others to create. that share and help and give tips. that support each other. that put a new, exciting spin on 'the same old' game with its limited scenes.

and while, surely, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, i feel like there have been some really thick brushstrokes applied when talking about the bg3 fandom creatives as a whole. and it just doesn't sit right with me.

I’m not that anon but I also don’t ship Garrance and it’s reactions like That thag make me feel like I can’t fucking say it without being all sweet abd understanding and saying something about how good of a ship it is, or hiding behind an anon button. speaking of the concept of universal themes/emotions: there are emotions that a lot of the population will inevitably experience. things like loss, or joy, or loneliness ARE a really common component of being a person! and it can be comforting to know that your experiences are broadly shared. you are not alone, most likely, in both certain types of suffering and certain types of joy. it's nice to experience that connection to other human beings.

but the second you start calling things universal, you start to veer towards prescriptivism. statements such as "all art is about x" and "all humans experience x" frequently has the unspoken sentiment that "I will not contemplate the absence of x." there are people who do not experience love. there is art that is not made, in a general sense, to explore "the human condition," but rather to explore some other idea. and I suppose you could insist that no, it IS in fact about the human condition, or about love, or whatever, but to do so misses out on both what people have to say and what art has to say. you close yourself off from really vital, interesting perspectives of the world by doing that.

people have interesting things to say outside of your current worldview! and of course art does as well. don't do others the disservice of refusing to engage with it! you won't grow at all that way.
