I kinda wish that "oh they don't know they are dating yet lol" was used less as a joke because while it can be funny to think about people not recognizing their obvious feelings it also shows a major issue with amatonormativity and believing certain ways people interact with each other can only be read 1 way. It shoves relationships into a box and assumes the people in their own relationship don't know any better and so can't possibly label it correctly.

"they say they are friends but obviously they just don't know they're dating yet!" Assumes that 1. Friendship is less than romance. 2. That the way these people act with each other has to be romantic and any other interpretation is wrong including the people who are interacting own interpretations of their relationship. 3. Assumes you, a third party observing the relationship you are not part of, know more and better than the people in the relationship and thus have authority to put a label on said relationship.

Do you see the problem here? Do you understand how fucked up it is to constantly be told your relationship is something it's not. Do you understand how rude it is to undermine people's own ability to properly label their own relationships. It does not matter if YOU think they are dating. If they say they are friends then they are F R I E N D S.

The thing Abt relationships is that all parties in the relationship have to agree with what it is. If one says they are dating and the other says they are not, then they are not dating and they will never be until both agree on that face. Simple as that.

Thinking about how Trucy Wright seems to do her best to just...brush past all her trauma. And I don't mean this in a "it's bad writing" way, I mean that her way of dealing with things seems to be to mostly ignore it. To move on as quick as possible and try to ignore the more emotional implications.

Yes Zak Gramarye was her dad and yes he abandoned her but Trucy doesn't talk about it more than she has to. She just immediately accepts Phoenix's offer to adopt her, calling him Daddy as soon as he told her it was okay to. She even seems to take the Wright last name with no complaint, she even seems to take pride in it!

When Apollo finds out she's actually adopted and her real father was gone, this exchange happens:

Yes Trucy is visibly sad here, but she just as quickly moves on from the subject

When Apollo reveals to the court that Zak was the victim in case 1, he looks at Trucy. Presumably expecting her to be upset, cry, or something

Yet all she does is encourage Apollo to continue with his case

I've seen people compare her to Maya, and while they definitely both have the "smile through the pain" thing going on, I do think there is a subtle difference. Maya downplays her trauma, but it seems Trucy doesn't like to let herself feel at all.

No, I think she acts more like Phoenix.

Phoenix, who is practically known for being cagey and as vague as possible about important events in his past. Especially in this game.

He doesn't talk about his ex girlfriend who framed him for murder, he just moves on to becoming a lawyer. He doesn't talk about Edgeworth "choosing death", he just continues trying to be a perfect defense attorney. He doesn't even talk about important details about his disbarment until he absolutely has to, when it's relevant for his jurist test.

Phoenix, who has been betrayed and left before, who desperately clings onto every person who shows him even a little kindness, who focuses on everyone else's problems and pasts before he acknowledges his own.

This is the man who adopted a girl who most certainly had abandonment issues, because chances are so does he.

He understands her better than anyone not just because he's her legal father but because it takes one to know one

zolu is maybe one of the easiest ships i've ever liked. they're dating, except when they're not, they're best friends even when they're kissing and they're still captain and first mate when they aren't. they hold hands, they hug. they have sex. they don't.

Luffy can hold Zoro's katanas and Zoro can hold Luffy's strawhat and no one bats an eye. one says "You're so cool!" and the other says "You're strong" and it's just another way to say "I see you, this is why I follow you/this is why I trust you". it's not seeing each other for a long time and still knowing how the other's steps sound like against wood and sand. the captain runs and the first mate follows. it's always "Zoro and the others" and "Where's Luffy?"

if they're just friends, if they're something more, if they don't have a label for it, at its core, it's just about how they get each other. they understand how the other's mind works. however you view them, it doesn't erase they fact that they love each other in a way they don't love other people.

For me these two will always be ace icons. Thank you Shakespeare for writing Ace characters that can and do fall in love.

There's this general misunderstanding that just 'cause you're Ace ergo you're also Aro. Aro and Ace are two separate identities. Some people on the spectrum identify a both Aro and ace hence they're Aroace (simple really!)

And I think that's the same misunderstanding these two have internalized. They've been told that just because you don't like someone "like that" also means that you are not capable of loving.... that love is just "not for you".

So here's to all the Ace people who have those who will find their love, their soulmate, and whoever matches their freak. I love you all!

Ok, starting off this post saying that if you don’t ship Phoenix and Edgeworth, that’s absolutely fine. I really don’t care. People can ship or not ship whatever they want as long as it’s not illegal.

That said, the amount of times I’ve seen people try and claim that narumitsu is in some way problematic or toxic because Edgeworth tried to prosecute Phoenix for Mia’s death in the first game is actually insane.

For starters, essentially all I’m hearing when people say shit like that is “how dare Edgeworth do his job as a prosecutor and not make an exception for Phoenix”. Edgeworth was the prosecutor assigned to Mia’s case. It’s not exactly his fault that Phoenix got swapped out as the defendant. And what was he gonna do? Drop the case all because some guy he hasn’t spoken to in literal years is now the suspect?

Secondly, this was the first case we see Edgeworth who at this point is acting as Phoenix’s rival and the antagonist. And y’all are mad because he acts like an antagonist? He starts out as a shitty person, that’s the point! That’s why he goes through his redemption arc and why his relationship with Phoenix develops as a result, platonically or otherwise.

Lastly, I just wanna point out this moment

Edgeworth literally goes out of his way to warn Phoenix that the Judge might not be as impartial in this trial than he should be because of Whites connections and blackmail. As much as Edgeworth claims that he wasn’t going to show Phoenix any special treatment, this clearly shows that he wanted Phoenix to be prepared for this trial so he would be ready to defend himself as well as he could and not be wrongfully punished

As I said, I really don’t care if someone doesn’t ship narumitsu. But can we please not pretend it’s toxic because of trial two?

Things That Irk Me In Ace Attorney Fanfics:

When Larry is a pervert, bad friend and seen as the butt of every joke.

When Klavier is depicted as a pervert and pushy in his romantic endeavors.

When Phoenix hates Klavier and avoids him.

When people don’t acknowledge that Pearls is as much of a daughter to Phoenix as Trucy.

When people don’t add Sebastian into the Miles family and only see Kay as Miles’ adopted daughter.

When people don’t add Kay to the Phoenix, Miles and Trucy family.

When people don’t add Sebastian or Apollo to the Trucy, Kay, Miles and Phoenix family.

When Franziska and Phoenix hate each other and only tolerate each other for the sake of Miles and Trucy.

When Klavier and Ema aren’t see as worsties.

When Miles is seen as not seeing Ema as a daughter either.

When people think that Phoenix doesn’t care as much about Ema as he does to all of his adopted weird girl assistants.

When people see Athena and Simon as lovers instead of siblings/family.

When people don’t think that Phoenix sees Apollo and Athena as part of his family and then they get left out of the loop.

When people don’t make the prosecutor’s office a family.

When Phoenix, Gumshoe and Maya aren’t seen as besties.

When Miles doesn’t care about Gumshoe.

When Miles doesn’t see all the others in his life as family/friends except for Franziska, Trucy and Phoenix.

When Phoenix and Miles are seen as hating Larry and not wanting to hang out with him.

Will probably add more. Also, not saying that people are wrong for viewing the characters like this, it’s just sometimes when they do this it really irks me because I interpret their relationships and characters differently.
