Pourquoi cette BD est excellente :

Greg (l'auteur) place toujours autant de blagues alambiquées et de références tordues.

Comme mentionné dans le billet sur Le Dictateur et le Champignon et peut-être dans d'autres, on adore une série normale où les héros se retrouvent plongés subitement dans des politiques sorties tout droit des années 30 pour des raisons souvent absurdes et où ils ridiculisent les dictatures.

Achille Talon échappe à une tentative d'assassinat - même à plusieurs. Il est question de trapézistes au Vatican. Papa Talon (le père d'Achille) apprend que son fils hérite d'un trône par un cousin éloigné et part aussitôt du principe qu'Achille n'est pas son fils alors qu'ils sont exactement le même personnage, tête et corps, sauf que le père a une moustache et pas le fils.

On Design Quirks

I love it when something that's external to a character serves as an emotional indicator. Examples include Asterix's helmet feathers, which perk up, droop and cock as needed, or Doctor Eggman's gravity-defying 'stache, all depending on who draws him. Earlier designs in the Archie canon reinforced Robotnik's grotesquerie and made his 'stache strictly adhere to gravity - always drooping down from the base - and later Eggman-related artists like Matt Herms perked up these two flares of facial hair when a grin was plastered on, or dropped them when something made the Doc sullen or had him turn pensive.

Other debatable examples include Achille Talon, Also known in the US and UK as Walter Melon, whose walking cane regularly sags cartoonishly when something saps willpower out of him.

Protogenoi 4: Pontus and the Sea Gods

         From the primordial deity Pontus (ocean) many sea deities were born:

Nereus, “the old man of the sea,” is known for his honest and wise demeanor, as well as his prophetic abilities. Nereus assists Jason and the argonauts on Lemnos, advises Peleus how to capture his love interest; Thetis, and in “Posthomerica” even tries to warn the trojans of a Greek attack.  Nereus and the sea nymph, Doris, give birth to fifty Ocean Nereids; sea nymphs who were helpful to sailors and fishermen, with such famous examples as Thetis (who later gives birth to Achilles) and Amphitrite (who becomes wife to the Olympian Poseidon).

Thaumus personifies the wonders of the sea, and, with the daughter of the ocean Elektra, gives birth to Iris (rainbows) and the Harpies; Aello and Okypete. The harpies have the heads and torsos of women and the wings and talons of birds and are associated with the winds. Later, in works like “Argonautica” and “aeneid” they are portrayed as agents of punishment.2

Phorkys, and his sister, Ceto, having associations with the darker and more mysterious ocean deep, give birth to a host of famous and fearsome creatures such as the Graiae; old women with grey hair that share one eye between them, The Gorgons; winged women with snakes for hair and gazes to turn mortals to stone, and Echidna; a half-woman, half-snake creature that lives in a cave and is known as the “mother of monsters,” who goes on to birth many terrifying offspring which we will explore in the next section. 

Eurybia, a powerful Ocean titaness who has associations with astronomy, winds, and weather and is wife to Crius, Titan of constellations.

Jupiter & Thetis Talon Abraxas

Thetis was a sea nymph in Greek mythology, or according to some myths, one of the Nereids, the fifty daughters of the sea god Nereus and Doris.

She was courted by both Zeus and Poseidon, but neither of them married her, out of fear of a prophecy that said Thetis' son would surpass his father in glory. Instead, she married Peleus, with whom she had a son, the mythical hero Achilles. Peleus' and Thetis' wedding was the main event that caused all subsequent events triggering the Trojan War.

Tout un poème de Victor Hugo a l'arrière-plan changé pour être un commentaire de match de foot/course cycliste.

"Je sais réparer la radio laissez-moi faire." *casse la radio en vingt-cinq morceaux, la piétine, lui tire dessus, puis donne la pièce maîtresse à manger à son canard* "ensuite il est vrai qu'une fois sur mille l'opération peut échouer".

Tous les personnages sont hilarants. Lefuneste se fait constamment taper dessus, l'un des gendarmes devient amnésique, un autre entend ses chefs se foutre de lui ouvertement sur les ondes, les deux méchants sont plus idiot l'un que l'autre, Achille est... Achille, le canard porte toujours son béret...

Kids swap mentors for a week so they can learn more stuff! I just think it would be fun.

Here's what they learn/try to teach.

Neil and Persephone- There was a reason I had you grow a garden, Neil. Look. You had to work hard, but you made something beautiful.

Atlanta and Ares- You got to watch that temper, kid. I never knew Atalanta, but I knew Achilles really well. He was a friend of mine. His quest for justice, his anger, they got him and a lot of other people killed. There's nothing wrong with convictions. Just think things through before you try starting a war over them.

Archie and Artemis- You're a good kid, but you've got to trust people. You're doing better than Achilles did, but that's not exactly a high bar. What do your friends know about you? That you've told them? Take it from an old woman, life's not worth living unless you're living it with at least one person who really knows you.

Theresa and Hera- You're doing well. You have good ideas and a strong voice. Don't hold your tongue for anyone. Sometimes rocking the boat is what shakes loose the sea monster. We need your good ideas.

Jay and Hermes- You need to let go of somethings Jay. Nobody can do it all. Believe me, you'll just end up burnt out.

Herry and Aphrodite- It's only a little embarrassing, deary. Most people underestimate me and my kids. But there's a reason I've survived so long and that reason isn't that I'm pretty. If there's one thing I want you to learn this week, that's it. You know how powerful love is already, but you see a pretty face and you think it couldn't possibly hide ugly intentions. A beautiful woman couldn't ever be a threat because she wouldn't risk breaking a perfectly manicured nail, right? Talons are beautiful, but they rip the liver out of Prometheus everyday.

Odie and Hercules- I remember Odysseus. He used to think all he had to contribute was that big brain of his. Don't get me wrong, he was a genius, and that saved a lot of lives. But the greatest thing about him, was something that people don't talk about. Something else you inherited from him. You both have good hearts. People love you for that. So you don't have to try so hard, okay tiny?"
