first, I want to start with something I find really important about his character, what makes him heavily mischaracterized in the fandom. the 'psychopath' cliche.

the terms 'psychopath', 'insane' and 'unstable' are often confused with each other due to media stereotypes, such as Aiden here. one, he is not a psychopath. psychopath literally means a self-centered person who lacks sympathy, affection and care; making them far from most other characters in their franchise. their lack of sympathy/empathy often makes them criminalized, here

let's take Gressil from Homesick for example since a lot of SBG readers also read Homesick. so, here, Gressil is a perfect example of an actual psychopath. his lack of empathy makes him torment others, he's very self-centered. and when asked why he's doing this? he says he was bored. let's look at Aiden here. what does Aiden do when bored? probably dumb ideas or annoy Tyler. not torturing people for fun. Aiden is just a boy who likes thrills, but he has a sense of empathy, care and justice.

I think everyone in the fandom is already aware that Aiden is ADHD but I'm still going to talk about it just like Ashlyn's autism. Red has also said that she wrote Aiden with ADHD in mind but hadn't canonically confirmed anyone as neurodivergent. let's start with the main symptoms of ADHD, also known as Attention Decifit and Hyperactivity Disorder.

I know about 5 different ADHD people myself and did some research, it probably won't be extremely accurate since I'm not ADHD myself, but I'll try to do whatever I can. first with the AD part, Attention Decifit.

now as seen, he doesn't exactly have any problems with theorizing itself. but the problem is that his attention just goes away easily.

he tries to do work, but can't. he has a low attention span which makes him not able to concentrate. he can't keep it up for long, he'll get distracted or bored too easily about things that doesn't interest in specially.

it's just distracting. what his attention is on constantly changes, there's more to that after the ADHD part but we're here for now.

the hyperactivity... it's a lot more apparent. but I should explain the insane-unstable thing before that.

insane means that someone's mental health is not in an okay situation, where it prevents the person from thinking normally, acting rationally, very often found together with delusions. the person is seriously mentally ill where it might count as a disability.

unstable, however, where someone is prone to psychiatric problems, has moodswings etc. they're not exactly the most sane person, but they aren't insane either. Aiden here, obviously falls on the unstable side. maybe just a little bit insane if you squint. this will be brought up later too, but it mixed well with his hyperactivity too.

and as we all know, our boy isn't exactly the most stable person. (sorry for the collages, but since there is a tumblr picture limit i have to keep on collaging. yes i learnt from the last time) his hyperactivity mixes with his unstable mindset which makes him incresingly vulnerable to danger- which he likes. from when the first shift happened, he's been really careless about stuff but it's been all about his love for thrill.

and it irritates Tyler, too.

the main subplot about his character is that he's a person of excitement. guess what? ADHD people like the excitement, they like new things, they like the adrenaline and thrill. now, Aiden's main characteristic of being unstable mixed with ADHD makes him an even more reckless person. another thing mixing with the hyperactivity, is boundaries.

this part will mostly be about Ashlyn since the boundary issue only happens with her.

I talked about this on Ashlyn's side on my Ashlyn analysis, now it's time for Aiden's side.

he's really annoying to her at first. Ashlyn is someone with lots of boundaries, like high walls. and who tries to climb them with his dumbass? Aiden of course.

she kept rejecting his efforts to befriend her for some time, until the night they stole the jeep. then she managed to actually bring the walls down, and accept them all into her life. but damn was she blunt.

and Aiden understands her that night, too.

Ashlyn was hesistant to hug him, yes, he was aware. but she still did which made him realize she was also trying. i have to tell you, people with ADHD and people with autism either have trouble getting along, or go perfectly well. my ADHD sibling for example, I have to push them away for a lot and tell them to lower their voice. but once they remember my boundaries it actually becomes a normal, even pleasant hangout. which, Aiden realizes and tries to get along with. he tries.

seeing his efforts on her boundaries makes something click in her mind. and she starts to be a lot nicer when they hang out in the arcade.

Aiden eventually learns and remembers what she's like and what she loves to do. he already tried to watch her ballet sessions once -got slammed-, he's been to her room where he remembered the mat from and her fighting makes it obvious. I'm sure he knew he'd get cooked by betting that. but he still did,

because he knew it'd interest her. which he succeeded, he saw her smile again. the arcade day went great until Barron and his gang pulled up, but if we ignore that part it all went well. Aiden started to understand and respect her boundaries.

he knows that Ashlyn feels guilty. Aiden wants to comfort her through it, but also do it correctly. without going over any boundaries. which makes him really,

here we see that he's still trying. hell, I'm sure he spent minutes thinking if he should come close physically to help her. that's probably why he just nudged her softly before anything else. he's not used to it, he has to conciously make an effort to not cross said boundaries. keeping his voice lower, try to not be so reckless, not doing anything physically close unless she reciprocates. wow how i wish another someone i knew irl tried that hard instead of blaming it on me cOUGH COUGH COUGH

Borderline Personality Disorder.

first, what is Borderline Personality Disorder?

shortened as BPD, borderline is when someone's mood is inconsistent and swinging. think of it's name; the person's mental state is in the border, in the border line, switching up fastly. the most easily understood and common type is when the person goes from a depression to a happy state. but no matter which state they are in and/or go to, one thing stays the same: it is unstable.

one thing about borderline is that it is frequently mixed with bipolar. however bipolar is a neurodivengercy which means it is what someone is born with and cannot be changed. but borderline is obtained later in life. it usually happens with depression. bipolar is much more random and the episodes last longer in comparison. it may last up to hours, and the person's memory might have trouble remembering their episodes. borderline, on the other hand, is a short-lived mood swing.

now here. here's the catch; people with BPD during mood swings can have reckless behaviour, suicidal thoughts -in his case as far as we know, lowered sense of protecting himself- or a loss of understanding danger. sounds familiar?

borderline's recklessness and dangerousness, sometimes self-destructive acts combines with ADHD's love for thrill and excitement, combined with Aiden's own personality all make up for a great condition of instability.

Aiden's behaviour constantly goes crazy, I think his most frequent mood swing might be his normal self (at least, as normal as he could be) to this more maniac way of acting. I noticed it from his eyes, when he's in a more calm-ish normal state his pupils are a bit more dilated. in the pictures above, you can clearly see that he's still in the episode; filled with the adrenaline, the unstable way of thinking.

but, what causes that? surely a mental illness such as borderline doesn't happen on it's own.

right?

cause it didn't.

it never works that way.

but it can get better.

eventually.

but what happened to him?

personally, as much as a large amounnt of people seems to believe it's something like family abuse I don't think so. maybe neglect, maybe withdrawal, maybe maybe. but we've seen his parents. I don't think they would hurt him like that. I can't put any more pictures, but this is the last part anyway. his parents seem to be kind and gentle, despite that picture in his house. I'm thinking the picture was only for the dramatic effect. his parents said that he used to be really calm and quiet during Lily's birthday, and both Aiden and Ben seem comfortable around them. they were happy taking Ben in too, any kind of abusive parent wouldn't do that at least that's what I believe. also there is that Aiden got serious and concerned when he learnt that their parents were also in the facility, most likely worried for his own as you would have thought.

there was a post that I've been trying to find for like half an hour, I commented on it but I can't find the post now. the person talked about their own theory. if I remember correctly it was that when Aiden was depressive as a child, his parents took him to a thrilling activity like the ones he's been talking about (bungee-jumping, skydiving etc.) and the thrill made him actually get excited. which is why his parents allowed him to go even more reckless, because they are aware of how prone their son could be to the depression.

what happened? let's ignore the parents factor. someone can have a loving family and still be traumatized, someone can be taken care of and still feel abandoned, someone can never have confronted a situation they are terrified of.

one of my theories is that, the loneliness. it must get to a child heavily considering children need to not be left alone, but Aiden was. he didn't have any actual friends since they always moved from one place to another from his parents' business, and they might have not had enough time to make for him (which I believe is bullshitting, every child deserves to be taken some time out for. some people quit their jobs entirely for their child.) and be unaware, and that doesn't change that he was still depressed and alone. his depressive state was seemingly before Ben was taken in. now here one thing with borderline, at least from my experience, is faking actions. smiles, laughs, friendships, conversations... almost as if there's two different lives; one fake, and one real. you keep on switching, you keep on swinging between the sides where you're yourself and where you're just mimicking 'normal human behaviour'.

it starts from faking a happy state during their depression, and by time you're faking it it becomes an automatic adition to your personality. to your mind. once it furthers, it becomes the disorder. Aiden we see is always smiling. it becomes a habit that only breaks sometimes. now, I'm not saying his smile is fake- I think his face is literally just stuck like that. it breaks ever so slightly sometimes. fake it till ya make it yanno? that kind of thing. and when he swings from his calm mood to his borderline-d mood, his pupils get small and his smile gets worse. noticably worse. FINALLY AN ACTUAL WRITING POST JDKDKLSDLS. okay, okay, i'm trying to get back into writing, i really am ;w; i'm probably a bit rusty, i haven't wrote twst x reader content for a long time, but i hope you like these headcanons anyway, anon! i hope they're not too similar to the disney princess ones i wrote in the past, haha.

riddle rosehearts.

♡ he's gonna be honest, he didn't trust you at first. he did assume that you're gonna be a more arrogant and selfish person, considering how spoiled you are, but when he found out just how sweet you really are.. yes, that was a pleasant surprise. and when he sees you trying to do something without anyone's help, he really does admire you. but hey, you can ask him for help, if you need it, he's not gonna think you're too lazy or anything like that. 

♡ riddle also was surprised when you thought the queen's rules were interesting and asked him to tell you more about them. like, he thought you'd be the last person to try and follow them. and then you said that you want to respect riddle's wish for everyone to follow the rules and you also just want to learn more about him. and what's the better way than asking him to help you memorize the rules?.. you were right, riddle did have a lot of fun, but then he started to slowly get distracted because of how cute your reactions were. you just kept going "oh, i see!~" and "how interesting, i'll make sure to remember that!", like, stop making him fall in love with you, y/n!

♡ when you start getting some VERY expensive gifts for him, he's torn between "y/n, i'm truly grateful, but you really didn't have to buy this for me" and ".. this is actually very beautiful". riddle really can't thank you enough for your gifts and his face gets red everytime he sees them, but he's not sure if he deserves all this stuff. when you assure him it's nothing and you just wanted to make him happy, he doesn't even know how to react. his heart just keeps beating faster when you are around and he doesn't know why.

♡ as riddle keeps learning more about you, he becomes ashamed of his first impressions of you. just how could he think you're rude and selfish just because of your family? you're such a kind and gentle person, you're like.. you're like a princess to him, haha. he doesn't know what to do with his feelings though, he wasn't sure if it's okay for him to accept your gifts, how is he supposed to know if it's okay to date you?? but um.. maybe his feelings are actually mutual.

♡ .. he's literally a prince, so yeah, he's not that impressed. but yes, he's also a member of the "so your family likes to spoil you? oh, you're definitely not a good person" gang. and he's a bit jealous of how supportive your parents are, like sure, they get you a lot of gifts, but they also listen to you and they genuinely love you a lot. it must be nice to be a rich girl who's not only spoiled, but also loved and cared for.

♡ at first he tried to avoid you and said that he's not interested in talking to you, but when you kept on trying to know him better, he gave up. he just got tired and thought that if he tells you everything you want to know, you'll finally leave him alone. but he doesn't feel good about it, it's like.. of course, you'd expect him to eventually give up, you're used to getting everything you want. it's like he lost to you in a way.

♡ he's surprised that you're actually.. a very active and determined person for someone who's so spoiled and wealthy?? like sure, he already knew about kalim, but you had a completely different energy compared to him, so leona didn't expect you to be so curious about everything and wanting to become close with everyone. but he's not gonna lie, it's pretty fun to talk to you sometimes. though you are the one who usually does all the talking and this guy is just chilling, but he doesn't mind.

♡ leona can't understand what it is about you that makes him want to spend more and more time with you. he wasn't supposed to get attached to someone like you, but.. oh well, it's too late, he's totally in love with you. and people are not surprised at all, some of them even lowkey shipped you and leona, i mean, the prince and the girl who comes from an extremely rich family?? yeah, it was like shipping celebrities to them.

♡ IF LEONA WASN'T IMPRESSED AT ALL, THIS MAN TOTALLY IS. like hi?? hello there?? do you wanna chat?? wanna discuss some stuff with him?? this guy is treating you like jamil now, he keeps trying to talk to you, he is very nice to you and he tries to impress you all the time. floyd finds it annoying and says things like "man, azul has a huge crush on this girl, doesn't he", even though he knows it's probably not a crush. NOT YET.

♡ but then, it happens. azul finds out that you're not only extremely rich, but you're also a very nice person who genuinely wants to be friends with him. oh no, now he feels a bit.. wrong. like why are you so kind to him?? he knows you don't need anything from him, so why would you even be interested in him?? and you also said that you like his personality and you think he's pretty.. why are you doing this to him. stop there, cute rich girl, STOP RUINING HIS PLANS.

♡ and now, the tables have turned. now you are the one who follows him around and goes "azul! azul! come on, let's chat~", azul has no idea what to do, HE EVEN TRIES HIDING FROM YOU WHEN HE HEARS YOUR VOICE. meanwhile the leech twins like to see him suffer, so they always tell you where you can find him. and when azul asks "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT", they go "azul, we're just trying to fix your love life". 

♡ azul even starts feeling guilty for trying to fool you in the past, it doesn't help that you said you like his personality, but that was just him trying to make you trust him. and he refuses to admit that he's in love with you, even though HE KNOWS THAT HE IS. he still tries to avoid you and push you away, because he feels like it would still be him lying to you if you two end up dating. so, if you don't want to lose him, you gotta tell him that you love him for who he is, no matter what! 

kalim al-asim.

♡ YEAH YOU TWO WOULD IMMEDIATELY BECOME BEST FRIENDS. when people saw just how good you two get along, everyone went "they are definitely gonna become a couple, aren't they". jamil is SO TIRED of you two. you and kalim always know what to talk about, you have similar interests and sometimes you have moments that make you two go "haha, that was cute, but we're still just friends! :).. we're just friends. totally." 

♡ you two would try to impress each other with cool gifts all the time. you'd be like "hey, kalim, look what i got you" and he'd be like "thank you so much, but look what I GOT YOU" and the cycle would never end. you just can't help it, you appreciate each other so much, you just really want to show how important this relationship is to you! but you two would never mention that all these gifts end up making you fall in love with each other even more.

♡ you would most likely have to be the one to confess your feelings to kalim, because even though he's not a shy type at all, he is pretty oblivious and he would think that you just see him as a friend. and even if you do see him as a friend, he doesn't mind at all! he just really likes to hang out with you and this relationship is precious to him, it doesn't matter if it's platonic or romantic. so, if you actually want more, you have to take that chance and tell him the truth!

♡ when you two become a couple, EVERYONE JUST KNOWS THAT YOU AND KALIM ARE GOING TO HAVE THE COOLEST DATES EVER. you and kalim never settle for something simple, if you are going on a date, YOU ARE GOING TO REMEMBER THIS DATE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. your dates are always fun, exciting and you two still end up giving each other way too many gifts. please go easy on him, y/n, jamil is the one who will have to figure out where he should put all of these. the urge to just throw them all out is strong though

♡ vil also didn't trust you that much at first, though he had to admit that you have a really good taste in fashion. also your skincare/makeup products recommendations were very useful, at first vil was surprised that you know so much about it, but then he remembered that you can easily afford the best stuff. and as vil grew to understand you better, his conversations with you eventually started becoming much longer. 

♡ when vil found out just how mature you really are, he started respecting you even more. it was a nice surprise for him when he heard you say that you don't want people to think of you as someone lazy and selfish, because even though your parents like to spoil you a lot, you know that money has to be earned and you're grateful for everything that you have. now vil realized that you're actually a very hardworking and responsible person and he enjoyed talking to you even more.

♡ it takes a while for vil to realize that what he feels isn't just admiration and respect and that he actually has a crush on you. and when he does realize it, he is a bit confused, this feeling is new to him, after all. however, he still makes sure you see him as someone more confident and now, when he knows that he's in love with you, he really does want you to see only the best side of him. little does he know that you already love vil for who he is and you'd still love him no matter what flaws he has..

♡ yeah, he's also one of those people who judged you when they first met you EVEN THOUGH HE LITERALLY ALSO COMES FROM A NOBLE FAMILY. idia thought that you're either gonna be kalim number two or you're actually much more rude and you're never gonna stop bullying him.. and it turned out to be the first one. oh well, now he has a different reason to avoid you, you're not only extremely rich and spoiled, you also want to talk to him more and you run to idia everytime you see him.

♡ when idia keeps refusing to talk to you and runs away from you, you just start finding out more and more info about him and you start getting as much anime/game merch for him as you can. you know his favorite series, his fandoms, his main interests, you've also asked ortho (who's just a sweet innocent boy who wants you and idia to become closer) about what kind of merch he wanted to get, idia absolutely has to pay attention to you now, right? good job, y/n, this guy is NOT leaving his room but it's because he can't stop looking at all the things you got for him.

♡ okay. um. maybe you're actually not so bad. maybe he actually wants to know a bit more about you. but idia is still too shy and he's not sure how to start a conversation with you, so you'll have to be the one to make the first move.. though you probably knew that already. and you're alright with being the one who's more talkative! you're even okay with simply sitting next to idia in total silence, you just enjoy his company that much.. and you just have a huge crush on him.

♡ .. like leona, he's also probably not that impressed. however, if leona is much more suspicious of you, malleus doesn't think you're a bad person at all, in fact, he actually can relate to your problems a lot. when you say that people tend to be scared of you, find you annoying or simply think you're a bad person, wow, malleus gets it. hey, maybe you two can bond over your loneliness? malleus sure could use some company.

♡ you and malleus understand each other very well and you two become friends very quickly. he likes to hear you talk about your family, your interests and your life, and even though he can easily get anything he wants, he still appreciates all your gifts and he likes looking at them everytime he feels a bit.. sad. malleus gets attached to you very quickly and he makes sure no one says anything bad about you because of your status and family.

this isn’t a request, more of a question! How do you start off a tumblr for writing? Smuts and what not. Any tips? I especially like the way you decorate each post and space it out!

Hello! thank you so much for asking me this omg

I will mostly talk about smut content because that is mainly what I write but some tips can be used for fluff, angst and what not! (also pls keep in mind I started writing like a month ago so i’m new to this too!)

So…

1. I will always recommend to read other people’s work!

This is the best way to see how other people describe certain feelings, settings, emotions and even characters!

2. Write in the perspective of the reader, not the writer.

What this means is make sure to be detailed on your writing, and also try to be inclusive as possible. Doesn’t matter if you’re writing for gn!reader, afab, fem, amab etc. For example, don’t describe the reader (if you’re writing for readers ofc) that they’re skinny, pale, that their flesh is pink (for smuts), that their ‘chest is big’ because that might not the the case for everyone. I would say lean more on the surroundings, the noises, and the sensations rather than the body itself.

3. Do your research!

if you’re writing for gn!readers for example, try to look up for tips on how to write for them. This is what I normally use.

When it comes to smut, one of the hardest things for me is to come up with the positions. So, I look for sexual positions online (the examples are drawn out) or watch actual porn. AND IK HOW IT SOUNDS BUT come on, I’m writing literal porn. This is to see visually how the body reacts realistically to certain positions.

(Yes, i’m a visual learner)

4. This is more if you have a ton of ideas like me. Anytime you come up with something WRITE IT OUT ASAP (if you can ofc) doesn’t have to be dialogue or too specific. It can be as simple as “He is your roommate and ends up having shower sex with the reader.” (this is taken out of my ideas list lmao)

I also wanted to say that if you really want to write a scenario that has been overdone (Derek x reader assistant or a story related to Mike and his vest) that does not mean you can't write it, just make it unique and yours!

5. Finally, do not get discouraged. Writing at first is overwhelming, and if you’re like me you’ll always think your writing isn’t good enough but remember, there will always be someone out there willing to read and appreciate your work.

Also if we get more technical, I use Google Docs, Grammarly, and Nautral Reader (when I’m tired of reading my work).

Akito:

Akito isn't the type to play video games, but he does enjoy horror!

He just hates watching it with people around. He'd never forgive himself if he flinched or screamed and someone was around to watch him-

So, when he hears about your love for horror games, he thinks it's pretty cool!

He prefers to watch you play, knowing that he'd probably die a lot-

Much to his surprise, you were playing the entire time with a straight face. He was constantly flinching and cussing under his breath, but you kept playing

He asks how you're able to keep a straight face. You just shrug and grin at him. He is very impressed-

Toya:

Toya loves playing arcade games, but he's better with everything other than horror-

For as calm as he is, horror games always get him. His palms get too sweaty for him to play it properly-

When you tell him that you love playing horror games, he's already impressed

He will also prefer to watch you play, knowing you would probably play it better anyway-

He's even more impressed when you play with a straight face. He jumps a lot, and holds onto your arm at points, but you were serious the whole time

He cheers you on, and is just very happy to watch you play. You're one of the best lets-players that he knows- 

Tsukasa:

Tsukasa does not do horror well at all-

When he was younger, he and Saki tried to watch a horror movie together. The two screamed and sobbed so much that they swore to never consume horror content again-

So, when you tell him about your love for horror games, he wants to decline your invitation to watch you play, but his pride tells him that he can't let you down like that-

As you can imagine, it goes very bad-

He's screaming and flinching and covering his face in hands, all while you play with a straight face

It gets to the point where you start laughing as you play because he's burying his face in your shoulder- It was very funny for you, but he will never do that again-

Rui:

Rui is honestly more amused by horror than anything

I've talked about it before, but he's more intrigued by the world building and how they work to make the setting believable

When you tell him about your love for horror games, he's definitely intrigued

He's probably the only one on this list who will ask if you can take turns. He may not be the gamer on his list, but he loves trying things out!

The two of you are definitely a strange pair to watch when you play. You, with a straight face, and Rui, who switches between complete silence and laughter-

The two of you make it at least a weekly occurence, it's very fun!

If there’s anything you’re familiar with, it’s the fact that Akutagawa is just bad at emotions

That’s not really his fault, he just never had a reason to rely on his emotions, so he kept them suppressed fairly often

So naturally, it’s hard for you to tell where you stand with him

You’re the first person he checks up on after a mission, offers to get you food often, stuff like that, but it’s hard to tell if he’s doing it out of care as a friend or if it means something more

It’s even more confusing when he invites you out to do things that have nothing to do with the mafia, like he had taken you out to a bookstore at one point because you’d mentioned a novel you were thinking about

He even paid for it for you!!

It drives you crazy more often than not, but in the end, you’re just happy to know that Akutagawa cares for you in some capacity

On Akutagawa’s end, however, it’s a lot worse

You don’t have any idea how he feels about you?? Surprise, neither does he

All he knows is he feels warm and content around you, but whether it’s similar to how he feels about Gin or if it’s something more is completely lost on him

He does end up going to Gin for help, and once she asks how Akutagawa would feel if you ended up staying by someone else’s side, something clicks

He contacts you almost immediately, asking you if you’d like to go to dinner.

Although you’re used to him taking you places, the sudden urgency in his voice catches you off-guard. He’s never sounded like that before

Nonetheless, you go, and have to listen to Akutagawa try, try being the keyword here, to confess.

He can’t get the sentence out for the life of him, this is somehow the scariest thing he’s ever done, and he’s clearly struggling to maintain his composure.

Once you realize what he’s trying to do, you can’t stop yourself from laughing.

He glares at you, because how dare you laugh at the Port Mafia’s Mad Dog, but you reassure him that it’s not him you’re laughing at, it’s the situation.

You assure him that you feel the same way and he can only offer a small embarrassed “oh” before flushing and hiding his face in his jacket

He looks happy, though, which makes you feel even happier in return

Not too much changes once you two officially start dating

It’s pretty much business as usual, with the exception that Akutagawa will try his best and find an excuse to be close to you at any time

He also tries to find a reason to be touching you at all times once he gets used to it

Meeting an informant together? He’ll try and make sure your pinkies are linked together or, if you’re okay with it, he’ll wrap an arm around your waist to keep you close

In a meeting? He’ll hold your hand under the table

He’ll hold you close at night too once you decide to move in together, even in his sleep he never relaxes, his grip on you tight as if he expected that you’d be ripped away from him if he lets his guard down

All in all, he loves you and you love him. It may have taken you two forever to get here, but you couldn’t be happier with how things turned out

I know that after those 2 small Madoka thoughts I had I said I'd stay in my lane but my film/media brain is like "hey hey hey remember that "cool" thought you had?" So. Even though Chikage is still not my lane, my film brain wants to discuss the neatness/niftyness/cleverness (idk which word I'm looking for) of Act 8 & the slight step further it could've been pushed, in reference to Act 5 of course. Besides if the Zafran princes are my lane(I'm kinda forcing myself on them actually, I'm probably not the best person to claim them but here we are), and Citron is both a Zafran Prince & in Spring Troupe and Chikage is in Spring Troupe, Chikage is my lane adjacent. Still though if I say something that makes you go "well actually" please ignore me. Let me have 0 notes due to being wrong about something, it's okay. Really.

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

Act 5 (Chikage's storyline) recap - Paragraph 1 Act 8 (Zafra storyline) "mini" recap -Paragraph 2 Cleverness - Paragraph 4 The Potential Push - Paragraphs 5-8 Conclusion - Paragraph 9 Too long, didn't read: I like the parallel between Chikage's abducting to destroy in Act 5, & rescuing to protect in Act 8. As a film major I feel the rescue coulda been used to move his relationships forward in a way had there been any (realistic) animosity/hesitance lingering.

So as we all may or may not (idk) know, in Act 5 Chikage infiltrates Mankai by being let in through the front door(he's undercover shush!) and sees how Mankai is one big happy family. Feeling betrayed by Hisoka/having some misinformation he decides to get his revenge: Hisoka entered then ruined his happy family (and abandoned him), so he would do the same to Hisoka. In this he comes up with a simple Preminger plan: Izumi, the center of Mankai, goes missing, Mankai disbands. (This plan would've worked best if he snatched up Sakuya alongwith Sakyo &/or Isuke too, just saying. Those four are the reason Mankai stands today. Fact. But also imagine them having to navigate the coleads, director, financer and manager mia, woulda been harder to pull off and come back from but Mankai woulda been a mess) So he kidnaps Izumi, Hisoka comes to save & reconcile, they all go home. Izumi lies for Chikage, Chikage later shares that he actually did abducted her(without reasoning as to why ehich leaves open a bit of skepticism but yada yada we get the point).

In Act 8, (let's see how quick I can give the setup), Guy comes and reveals Citron is next in line for the throne and that there are some others who support his brothers being next in line and of them there are extremists(every cause has some extremists am I right or am I right?), Citron knowing Chikage got the capabilities to make people disappear w/out a trace asks Chikage to help him dip for Zafra early w/out Guy (also remind me to write about Citron's "selfishness"(there's a different word I'm thinking of but this'll have to do) pls I have thoughts); Mankai first begrudgingly accepts this but then they're like "No! Who broke it?" and head down to Zafra to get an explanation from Citron 'cause "dude what the heck?" They make it just in time to find out about a plot to keep him from ascending to the throne and that he's been kidnapped. Here Chikage steps up to the plate to find and save Citron from being kidnapped.(Itaru goes too but we're not here to talk about how he was prepped to die to save his wife<3, gosh I love love). (Kinda lengthy but I can't help making side notes & jokes lol)

So now that I've said a whole lot of nothimg, let's discuss the cleverness and how it could've been pushed.

Of course you've probably caught onto the cleverness yourself, a person who once abducted someone before a big event now is rescuing someone kidnapped before a big event. He is actively working in another person's best interest and to help sustain a family rather than aim to cause one to crumble out of his own desires of revenge. Of course, he vowed to protect the Mankai family at the end of Act 5, the parallel itself is still neat. And there's double the families he's sustaining in saving Citron here because not only is he saving a member Mankai/Spring Troupe's family but also of the Zafran royal family (why don't they have a last name >~<; that's so long winded), which allows a place for there to be a return after their punishment for suresies because if it had gone worse...

So now that that's been addressed how can this have been pushed further. Well. It could've been Chikage proving how much he's grown to care for and how much he means it when he says that he is devoted to protecting Mankai, which it kinda was in a bit of a less stated way. But also! While A3! is a clever series with compelling characters and storylines, there are some aspects that fall a little flat in the realism department at times, if they commited to being a bit more realistic w/ certain forgiveness storylines, this would've been a great moment for someone to feel more open to trusting Chikage. Like especially w/ him already being concerned about Mankai being upset with him for agreeing to & succeding to send off Citron. If it was like "man I'm still walking on eggshells a bit because even though people are nice to me and accept me they still don't fully trust/like me, I'm so not going to be increasing my score w/ any of them this way" and then him actively going to save and succeding in saving a cherished member of Mankai, with complete resolve and trying to keep everyone safe. That's something that could've really been something. Like not to say it wasn't anything or anything, just like it could have been a shift in the story. Like they love Chikage but do they trust him? They don't have much of choice. Obviously this can only be properly done with characters who would have animosity, coulda been there, and if it was something mentioned between the two points but yea.

(Reminder: my "lane" is the Zafran Princes so if I say anything inaccurate to any other character they're not my lane. (my current tag for them (tho I am considering changing it) is "Citron & his brothers" if you want to see anything I've said about them. (here's a good place to start, me thinks)(yea pretty shameless self promo but eh) I'm kinda dumb and know nothing tho so idk if any of it's at all good or something you'd agree w/ but I feel alright about the stuff I've said lol). I'm not a great writer or anything but I think if they had decided to take that route the best Spring Troupe options for that kinda dynamic woulda been Masumi or maybe Tsuzuru. (Had to choose Spring Troupe to go along with the setup that's already there, any other troupe and I might have to change big story details & that's not the goal here, the goal is elevating what's already there) Why these two? Well I'm less sold on Tsuzuru but I feel like he has more realistic and negative-leaning views sometimes, like he feels like a person who feels like he might stay cautious about a person who's done some shady things. Masumi other the hand is already a bit less of a people person, has he grown alot already yes, however, he is still someone who very much (haha kinda like Chikage) has a strong desire to protect those important to him and Chikage litterally abducted Izumi who was dire in Masumi being able to connect with more people and have those he wants to protect and do things for and she's at the top of that list of people. Sure she doesn't hold anything against Chikage but she's Izumi. She's a very caring and forgiving person. I could see someone like Masumi being a bit on gaurd and skeptical partly on her behalf.

I'm sure it'd be a little harder to pull off with what the situation was but I do think it's plausible & do-able. I mean, if I recall correctly, at this point most of Mankai are unaware why Chikage kidnapped Izumi in the first place(I think Hisoka, Izumi, and sorta the rest of Winter Troupe and Sakuya knew around the time it happened) so if one of them(not the ones I just specified) were somewhat weary of him it could make sense, I think reasoning is something that I can see being important to Masumi and Tsuzuru and that's something Chikage didn't divulge, so it feels like Chikage did it for "no reason". Though I do want to say I think if we took one if these routes reasoning would be important to them in different ways. Tsuzuru would be more mentally like but what was the reason tho, while Masumi would think less about that he didn't give his reasoning and compartmentalize it as no good reason as he had his chance to explain but didn't, which I wanted to bring up because because imagine with me if you please, Masumi accepting Chikage being around but lowkey not fully trusting him bcause he clearly had no good reason for abducting Izumi. Chikage plays vital role in rescuing Citron maybe he is okay to trust a bit more and maybe (flashfoward to Magician's Pure Love) Masumi can hear out what reason Chikage had for his actions, because maybe even if it was wrong and something he shouldn't have done, maybe he does have a reason. (See I'm tying things together)

My only hesitance really being the comparison of how important Izumi and Citron are to this character (because they're the ones in the situation not the weary character) but it simultaneously makes me want to hit floor it because they're equally important. Or something. Idk honestly. Just, i it was Masumi for this route I could see that being a nice reminder he cherishes his whole family. (I know Act 5 kinda already is that but I'm just throwing paint at the wall okay? This is only my lane adjacent.) I guess while I'm here let's discuss why not Izumi or Citron being the person for this to drive the relationship forward. Well. I think even if Izumi reasonably had a small fear of or discomfort with Chikage after Act 5 she would actively be workimg herself to getting over it. For it to be something to drive their relationship it would definitely have to be a thing between the two of them. Meanwhile, Citron literally trusted Chikage to keep his secret that he was leaving early and help him do so. I think they're in an okay place.

So yea, maybe this whole idea is dumb or too movie or something, Idk I have film major brain, but it's something I think about sometimes(not as much as I laid out here but the concept). Like obviously in part the rescue's probably partially there with something similar to that in mind but like instead it's to prove Chikage to the viewers rather than to Mankai, however I also think that it's okay in media to make characters have to work for people(read: other characters) to forgive and/or be comfortable around them. Like sure sure some people will forgive you pretty early on and water under the bridge and all that stuff. And some people won't mind being around you. But some people might be completely unaware as to how much they subconciously don't trust you. Some might be like okay we're cool but we're not cool. For some people all this depends on how well they feel they know/understand you and which actions they've seen to help determine your character to them, you know? And I like complicated/layered/complex dynamics and relationships, so I personally woulda found it neat to have something like that within the story. But who am I lol

A few things going forward- and I try not to make stuff like this but I feel like it's necessary not only to kinda. Put boundaries down but also for my comfort as well. I'm going to be selective with who I ship my characters/plot my characters with. I don't mind characters being friends and such but I have been feeling like I've been given mixed signals from people I've reached out to or during talking about them? It makes it hard to tell if I'm just on some one Sided eager excited and the other person isn't digging it. Or that plots get dropped and suddenly im seeing what we were planning or brainstorming thrown away because I wasn't told they were doing something with someone else. I need to explicitly say, I don't mind when plots cross, but if were planning a quad. Most of my characters are monogamous or specifically only open to polycules or occasionally fully polyam. I try to keep it single ship because of bad expierences in the past and my own comfort with how I interact with my characters. Hard to be super chipper excited about it when it brings up bad personal memories myself. I kinda put a piece of myself in every character so trust me when I say it makes me feel disjointed.

Just please be direct with me and tell me if you don't wanna! I hold these quads hostage basically with the idea of a ship that gets dragged on when I wanna do stuff! Again- I know I get excited and wanna do stuff!! Brand new blorbo syndrome!! You can just say no! I won't be mad! I promise. I won't be upset! Or just give me clarity that a quad is shifted. When I'm given no clarity at all- It makes me feel really bad. Again this is not about anyone in particular and imbkot trying to vague anyone but understand this has happened from different people

I am putting this blog on a semi Hiatus. Kinda smacking it with that sticker because I haven't really been producing art that i enjoy. Everyone can say "I love gg art" and all that but it's like looking at a mess I made on my canvas and just wondering where I went wrong. It's very very upsetting for me when art is my outlet, I do it to be happy! I like making! I really do. But I feel like stranger with it. My skills have stagnated and it hurts me a lot. The only thing I've felt like that hasn't been bad has been my chibis and I know people don't want to see those all the time. I'm kinda trying to work through it but it hurts. I'm a human, I have feelings. I try not to put my emotions too online or my problems because I think a lot of people here use Tumblr to escape like I do. I try to be positive! I wanna keep things happy and light but I can't always be like that

I wanna also mention I have been trying to keep up with everyone's happenings and stuff but I am awake about 12~14 hours a day working or having my responsibilities. I am tired. So if you haven't seen me in your notifications a lot or when you do, I seem deflated. I don't have a lot of energy to spare and I try to catch stuff here and there. But I won't be able to see everything. it's not that I'm avoiding anyone's content or something like that. I just. Have a physical job.

if you're wondering why i went inactive and then deleted, my mental health kind of (really) tanked... and i ended up deleting my blog in a fit.

it's getting better bit by bit though! and i've been wanting to get back into writing (and talking abt my unhinged/yan ideas i can't really talk to anyone else abt), so. here i am! for now, at least

as for my previously posted writing, there's some good news and some bad news: the bad news is that everything i wrote directly into tumblr (99% of snippets, a lot of ask answers, most exact content warnings, etc) is gone. the slightly less bad news is that iirc there were very very few posts of mine that weren't reblogged by anyone at all, so they're probably still out there? feel free to send them my way if you find any and i'll rb them. @/midnight-remembrance also has reblogged a couple of them! there's a couple snippets i have saved in some places, so i might repost those on my own as i find them, but there's very few of those. the good news is that anything longer (proper writing — oneshots, hcs, yan alphabet responses and so on, prompt responses, etc) is safely backed up where i originally wrote it! some of it is also on my ao3, which is the same username. feel free to send me asks about any you'd like to see again and i'll repost them! i might not post them if i feel too embarrassed about/wish i hadn't posted them, and i might rewrite/heavily edit some of them, but i think there's only a handful that fall into the former category and none of them were particularly popular. either way, no harm in asking!

as for some other updates: i'm a little divided on whether i want to keep posting explicit nsfw or not so we'll see. i might just keep it out of main tags. idk yet. regardless of what decision i make, this blog is still strictly 18+ and that will not be changing. since we can reply from sideblogs now, this is a sideblog and not my main now. why? sometimes i prefer to check up on a blog frequently instead of following them for a couple of reasons, but this felt very awkward when they were following me. so this being a sideblog relieves a bit of that stress. if this makes it sound like i have severe brain worms, it's because i do. to that effect though, if we interact every so often feel free to consider us mutuals regardless of whether or not i'm actually following you =w=b tbh i.............. am not really into genshin anymore. i might post about it here and there but i just Do Not (really) Care about it anymore. scara aside to some degree i also have no clue what's going on post inazuma lol whatever projects or commitments to writing or etc i had made beforehand. i forgot all of them so just pretend that never happened ok? ok i'll also probably be posting more sparsely, but we'll see! and (this is obviously the most important bit) i have no clue where i put the mika edit so we're back to my og classic pfp. the header scales terribly and is temporary, please ignore that too

It's really sweet, and I love that it explores Will's relationship with Mike. Will deserves the world, Gareth does too. If you haven't read it, I absolutely recommend you do.

This author also has an ongoing greatwise fic that I'm absolutely devouring atm and his writing is beautiful. I also recommend following them here, she always reblogs cool stuff, I'm literally obsessed.

Now, talking about people I'd give my soul to, you should also check thisusernameisunaviable's work. I don't really know how to find them on social media, but I've enjoyed everything they write, specially their ongoing fic Well, I wouldn't bet on it. It was updated just a couple of days ago and it was great, it has a lovely Eddie-Gareth relationship, Jonathan being an amazing brother, and GreatWise trying to figure out they like each other. It's really soft and sweet.

1. the character everyone gets wrong

i hate to be cliché'd but TSUKASA. i admit i used to be partly guilty of it before i realized that tsukasa isn't really empty inside, he keeps being a parallel to mafuyu by not only being actually full (? inside but being like. really full inside. tsukasa has several personas and he acts very differently depending on who he's interacting with and they're all sorta tsukasa to a degree but they're also not really? tsukasa please stop being worrying or be but have this acknowledged pls

anyway, people tend to portray tsukasa with no nuance at all, he's either a happy careless guy or so sad that he could put every N25 member combined to shame. as i said he's REALLY worrying but he genuinely really likes what he does and has passion and drive. he's just team "i can't be sad if i don't acknowledge i'm sad so i'll just leave the issue there until i forget it :)"

6. which ship fans are the most annoying?

i am inclined to say kanade x mafuyu because i still genuinely can't see how they'd have a healthy romantic relationship, so when i see content of the ship while i'm on misc tags i'm like

minori tenma is the least frequent, minori shinonome is something i've seen a lot and that i don't really get either, like, is it because minori's hair is brown-ish? is it? and what about minori tenma? is it because tsukasa cheered her up that one time? i'm the first one asking for more actual leadersquad interactions, but hc-ing them as siblings just because of that...

i feel like i say this a lot but just because tsukasa sees toya as a younger brother, it doesn't mean that toya feels the same. he has never said it in the game (afaik) and he actually changes the subject rapidly whenever tsukasa mentions it. saki has never said anything regarding seeing toya like that, so it's safe to say he's just a childhood friend to her.
