What if Zombies!Spidey x DCU LETS GOOOOOOOOO-
O K-
So, This is the (Probably not the last, don't worry) post with ideas for my What If Zombies!Peter In the DCU AU. This is the post that (Finally) Focuses on the DC side of things. This post Is also going to be mainly focused on Peter and what he's up to cause he's the focus of this AU, but I’m probably gonna make another post with info on the other heroes, so If your interested in that, don't worry cause I am thinking about them (Bucky & Loki = Brainwashed bros)
Its also part 1 of Idk since this post kinda got away from me with its length (oops)
Anyways, without further adieu, let's start :D
-So! starting this off with something fun and not that serious that I just found out. this should have probably gone in the first post but I didn't know this until now so here, a +1 info on “facts about the zombie apocalypse” tm.
Ok, so at this point you know I like to play around with the timeline right? Ok so, I’m researching the dates and events things take place in right? Turns out, the snap happened in either May or June, and one source even said that it happened on May 31. Now, with this in mind and the fact that I said the apocalypse lasted between 7-8 months, what happens if you subtract 8 months from May? You get October. And if you add the date to it? Guys…I accidentally made it that the zombie apocalypse starts on Halloween! That's just insane!
The official timeline now is 8 months of the zombie apocalypse, no more no less, sorry, I don't make the rules :^ (omg I made Antman & the Wasp a halloween movie lmao. It fits)
-Alright so, Peter, Head Scott/w the cloke and T’challa are on a plane on their way to Wakanda when all of a sudden, well, how many of you seen the Young Justice Episode s1e19 Misplaced? (Btw have I talked about how much I love Billy batson? I will one of these days ok, and that's a threat) well anyways
Airplane squad: *”peacefully” traumatized on a plane to Wakanda
Airplane squad: *the people on the plane fucking fazes out of reality leaving him alone to fly the plane*
Peter: *Panik*
Peter: *feels a pull wanting to take him but fighting it off as he tries to fly a fucking plane*
Peter: *also fades out of reality but much later the other and is now falling to certain doom in the middle of the ocean*
Peter: “Oh What the F-”
Ya that-
I mixed aspects of the snap and scene from misplaced as their way of splitting up. And, they did split up. A high speed plane plus the time it took them to disappear firmly separates Peter from the rest of the heros. And thus the adventure commences
-unlike Billy who can fly, Peter falls head first at top speeds and a thousand meters high into the ocean.  This can happen a few different ways
1) Peter is stranded, and is found by Young Justice or any superhero team that was passing through the ocean and thinks “Oh shoot, that's a child”. And this is how he ends up with the league. This one is kinda fast and there wouldn't be any identity reveal since at this point this Peter has no concept of such a thing. But a good way to work around this is memory loss. Not really my cup of tea but I can very much see this happening considering how hard he hit his head
2) …So Peter fucking dies-
Listen! I somehow started off with my 2 most opposite extremes of ideas, but hear me out. The fall? It kills him. But lets say that some cult or the league of assassins or some shit find his body, realize he’s a “meta” and decide “Yeah, this is a good revival candidate” And they revive the poor sucker. He is held captive HYDRA style and they try to turn him into a weapon. Obviously, he escapes, set free onto the world with a few months of trauma and a stolen one way ticket anywhere. And that anywhere just so happens to be Gotham. I’ll let your mind take it from there
3) This is the last version of events I’m gonna mention and I think this one is the one I'm sticking with, purely for the comedic potential I can see coming out of this. So Peter fought back the spell right? Well unlike the snap where he was fighting a force of nature were he would not have won, Peter was fighting Loki off, which,
Yeah, so since Loki had to focus on getting that idiot spider child to cooperate, he loses track of everyone else, and all of a sudden, the fuzzy mental image he had of everyone dissipates, and Peters becomes the full focus. This lets him save the kid from the crash, but he now doesn't know where all of the others are, including his brother, and now he can't really get to any of them.
Peter: Fighting off that staticy feeling that's trying to take him
Loki: *Genuinely struggling to get this non magic kid to corporate with him*
Loki: Damnit CHILD! I'm trying to save your worthless life!
Peter: *Legit almost wins and gets left by himself in the zombieland*
Loki: …What did they feed you?
-Peter is saved with a spell that's basically the bubble from steven universe but Loki style. He can breathe just fine, but he can't get out or call for hell. He spends many Hours like this.
-Ok so, Loki is a god. We have established this, I keep mentioning it (sorry) he himself brings this up multiple times. What is something gods tend to have sometimes? Avatars, people who act out their will on Earth. You see where I'm going with this? Since Peter is the only mortal from his world he has access to, and because he is stuck on the watchtower, he decides to make a deal with Peter to make him his Avatar and have him look for the others (Thor). Peter, after having most of the situation explained to him, accepts his offer, with a few conditions here and there that prevent Loki from taking full advantage of him. But at the end of the day, they are both desperate and accept the others' offers and conditions with little fuss.
-Deals and conditions for the avatar contract between Peter and Loki
Loki’s Mission: Find the other mortals and spread chaos as his agent Loki’s Offer: Slight magical aid, “ability boost”, Protection from other magical entities, Godly guide and knowledge and Loki wont force Peter into doing anything too grotesque Loki’s conditions for Peter: He will be able to access anything Peter is seeing and be able to take control of any situation if he sees it fit, he must go on the missions he sends him on, And if the situation ever truly demands it, he will listen to everything Loki tells him to do Peter’s Mission: Finding his friends and finding a cure to his world in this new one as Loki’s Agent. He must also make good impressions on other Magical being in this world as to not shame the god he’s representing Peter Offer: His loyalty and tentative trust, he won't argue too much and will do his absolut best to find Thor. he will Listen to Loki and do what he says Peter’s Conditions for Loki: Will become his Avatar as long as he gets to keep being a hero and doesn't have to hurt or kill people. He will only do a mission once a month, and he will not advertise the Avatar bit. Peter gets free will, He can refuse to do something as long as he isn't demanded of it.
With this, a hand shake, and some blood, The deal is made in the bubble in the middle of the ocean.
-Peter is now Loki’s Avatar, Moonknight style, Yay! They don't really like each other that much due to circumstance but it's fineeeeeee. I did this because 1) I thought of a scenario that didn't really make sense unless Peter was somehow talking to him 2) It’s a little nod to the fact most of the fics have the snapped souls with Peter on his adventure. I thought that this way he can still have his voice in his head , it's not that crowded because it's only one voice, and it's not that Intrusive because Loki isn't going to be with Peter 24/7 only when he needs him, he's using some of his powers, or when he can sense distress or danger coming from Peter- Other than that he's stuck at the watchtower trying to plan his next moves. And 3) Cause the thought came to me and i thought it was fucking Holirouse.
-With Some trickery, Peter sneaks onto a boat and spends his time hidden under the deck pretending and hides like a corner spider the whole trip
-Peter in his, Hasn't been around actual living breathing humans for such a long time, self, breaks down and cries at the docks. Coincidentally, The bats are doing a drug bust there and a wearhouse not 10 feet away from him blows up.
-Peter in his typical fashion, Puts on his mask and runs into the building looking for survivors.
-The bats, not knowing what happened, see’s this costume stranger helping the thugs get away and immediately clocks him as a villain. Opps
-They fight, misunderstandings happen and now, The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man Is on the front page as gothams hottest new Rogue. Well shit
-Peter being the smart guy he is, squats at an unoccupied apartment and claims it as his. Then Loki shows up after weeks of radio silence, takes one look at the place and says, hell nah, and fixes the place up with magic making the place more than livable. With some (probably magical) persuasion, the guy renting out the place actually puts him on the lease with 50 bucks of monthly rent. Does Peter feel guilty…well? Gotta roll with the punches man. Plus, this place looks nice, ignoring his 20 something neighbor that has enough blood on him to turn his white hair dye red that had sent his spider sense. This is fine.
-With some help from the voice in his head and walking through dark alleys at night, he finds a guy that works for immigration and was selling sketchy (But legit) identities. Not really trusting the guy but in desperate need and ID for the lease he was about to sign, He coughs up all the savings he had, took a Photo, and Ben P. Riley was born. He said he didn't trust the guy.
-Peter has decided to go by an alias for a few reasons, like not knowing if there was already another Peter Parker in this reality and not really wanting to risk it or the plain fact that he didn't really trust anyone in this new reality with it  (Loki and his magical guidance, he has firmly decided to never give out his name so freely ever again). His name is one of the last things from his past life that he can call his own, And if his “Villainous” identity was revealed as Peter Parker, he didn't know if he could handle it. The most simple reason was that he just missed his family and wanted something in this new life he was making for himself to remind himself of them. Ofcourse, he still added that P in there middle so as to not completely erase himself.
-Peter spends a full month just trying to get used to living in a society again, This causes some problems and misunderstandings.
-After many series of misunderstandings and mishaps, everyone thinking he's evil, Peter decides, YK what's, If I can't beat them, join them. Peter starts going out as the “Villain Spider-Man” doing sketchy shit (normal teenage shit) and causing a commotion in Gotham. Peter counts this as his act of mischief and Loki agrees when he sees the kid sell his own photos to the newspaper. Peter isn't actually doing anything evil, it's just his presence that brings fear. The fact that the bats have caught him breaking into multiple high security facilities doesn't really help his case
-Peter spends his months looking through files and files of info searching for the others, but has just about no luck on anything.
-Peter, forced by a mission, goes undercover in Gotham prep to follow one of Loki’s leads. He doesn't really know what he's doing here, but this Tim guy is pretty nice
-Cause of the amazing pictures he keeps selling to the paper, the company hires him full time as their photographer for special events and even lets him write a few articles when they see the notes he puts next to his pictures that provide contexts and stuff like that. This job opens Peter to search to a whole new horizon.
-With Peter's new job, hes sent to many different cities which introduces him to many different people
-He meets Jimmy Olson on a trip to Metropolis and hits it off pretty well with the older man. Jimmy introduces him to his friends and coworkers Lois and Clark, both of whom are just a delegate. Though that Clark guy as not stopped setting of his spider sense since he met him
-The next place he went to was a city called Fawcett, where he was sent to help with a story with one of the local reporters who was apparently his age.
Boss guy: Ben, meet Billy. You two will be working together on the report for this years summer festival
The two sniff each other out as godly “employees” and exchange numbers. And thus, a friendship was born as Billy decided to keep an eye out for any other reality travelers, and Peter is put as one of his emergency contacts to help him get out of shit since he was “technically 20 according to his ID”
Peter: *Looks at Billy*
Billy: *Looks at ‘Ben’*
*Insert that one Spider-Man meme*
-Peter is also sent to Gothams sister city Bludhaven. Peter,ends up meeting a weird police officer that keeps expecting him to take pictures of the guy. But he's nice enough and bought him a hotdog and a cinnamon roll(even though he now thinks he's allergic to them), so the weird outweighs the good.
-On his trip to Bludhaven, Peter decides to go out as spider-man. Not to cause trouble, but to go sightseeing and swinging without the interference of a bat. He ends up sitting upside down on an old building (like that one Atsv scene)  working on some leads he has when all of a sudden, Nightwing appeared right behind him dangling off the side of the building like a mad man giving him a heart attack. Nightwing is about to confront the spider after his sneak attack was caught, but before he does, Peter holds out the cinnamon roll towards the vigilante as a peace offering rushing out the words “Please don't hit me!” and Nightwing just stares. He stares long and hard looking between the treat and the Spider mask. Peter was about to run from them when Nightwing sort of just…sits. Or sits at the best of his abilities with no gravity defying powers. He actually does a pretty good job at it. Nightwing takes to offering with a nod and the 2 just sort of sit there in silence. It's awkward and weird, and quiet but for some reason he doesn't feel as uncomfortable as he thinks he should. Even less when he feels the ringing of his spider senses slowly die down as the minutes pass until it's just a constant hum at the back of his head
-They don't talk after that but from here is a turning point as to how the Bat clan view the spider.
More? Nay I say! (There will be a part 2 to this specific post, but it has gotten too long and I need to go to bed. So hopefully this will do for now :^) Plus this feels like agood stoping point since I feel like that ending would mark the ending to an arc
Please let me know what you think of this AU. I love seeing other people's ideas and thoughts. It fuels me lo
And make sure to keep an eye out for Part 2 of this post.

Wakanda Forever is a way better movie than any MCU movie has a right to be.
It certainly has flaws. The ankle wings look stupid. You can't argue with that. Tenoch Huerta Sells It, but every time he flies up, it took me out of the movie because of how silly it looked. That woman from tfatws was here for some reason, mcu phase 7 connectivity something something, i'm sure, but there's literally no one in the entire universe that i care less about so please go away (that's not true, we got a preview for antman and i definitely don't care about him). There's a lot packed in here and the secondary cast really gets no development, though I will say I didn't feel the runtime at all.
But where it's good it's so fucking good. Namor didn't hit me quite like Killmonger, but he came closer than any antagonist in any other MCU movie ever has. Shuri's journey is depicted so well; all my favorite moments were hers. All the women have great, varied, character driven arcs. Okoye's fucking competence in the car chase scene, I can't even. Riri just shows up fully formed, like we're not introducing Ironheart so much as we are colliding with her story already in progress. Nakia living her truth. Ramonda, fucking I can't even. M'Baku being his lovable Jabari self- not too proud to be funny and not too comic relief to be wise. A judicious use of your Martin Freeman. A movie about mourning for an audience that is also mourning.
Anyway, this will probably be the last MCU movie I ever watch (just cause I'm so tired of fighting disney/marvel for the stories I want to see get told) and I think it's definitely a movie worth seeing.

Random I had while watching Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania (remember this is completely subjective and you're allowed to feel what you want to feel)
POTENTIAL SPOILERS IN THE CUT BELOW
what song was this again?
I feel it's been years since I heard the Giacchino's opening fanfare
Beck made a pretty good score
So like, did anything really change after the ending?
Is this a time loop thing?
What da fuq do u mean there's an end of time?? How come He Who Remains said he'd be back in the chair
Everything Everywhere All At Once ruined my expectations for Multiverse movies uhh ilohjcfasdjnc
Out of all colors for that juice, they chose red???
It looks like period blood or they ate someone's corpse
When I saw MODOK, I accidentally snorted a popcorn kernel
He looks like a fucking boiled egg
Reminded me of Zordon from Power Rangers for some reason
Uncle Fester without the emo makeup
Seeing his ass cheeks on screen was not part of my bingo list
Cassie honestly slay
It was technically ur grandpa's fault so don't blame yourself sweetie
This family is actually kinda wholesome
Honestly, if I was trapped in a jet and my parents were talking about how they hoed out in eachother's absence, I would also go and try to save my idiot boyfriend
Kang isn't me, I would've folded in front of Michele Pfiefer
...does that make me Kylar?
I would fold in front of Kang too, but like I don't like squishing bugs
I wish I knew the timeline of this movie
The scene where Hope goes to save Scott in the power core was so cool
Like when they all go away bc u realize that what they were doing was the only possibility that Scott and Hope could've exploded the core
DUUUUUDEE THE ANTS WHEN THEY CAME BACK
IT WAS GIVING
STAR WARS RISE OF SKYWALKER (fun fact that was the last movie I watched in theaters before COVID hit I am disappointed in that fact too)
So like is this post Shang Chi??
OH MY FUCKING GOD IS THAT LOKI AND LIGHTNING MCQUEENNNN??
THIS MOVIE CURES IRRATIONAL FEAR OF BUGS
6.5/10 Ants
basically just a standard Marvel Movie
slow in some parts
def not as bad as what twitter is saying
not every movie is gonna be like Endgame or spiderman (I'm saying to the people who takes Supes' opinions seriously)

Wrong Cards
Summary: on a fateful day, Chris meets you.
Pairing: Chris Evans x Teen!Reader
Warning: angsty, death, gun violence, blood, shitty childhood.
Tumblr media
You haven’t had the easiest life. In all your 14 years on this earth, it’s been hell. You’ve been on the streets. You’ve been moved around all over the country and put into homes only to be shooed away. It became very apparent that nobody wanted you or cared. Not even teachers. You’ve dealt with abuse, bullying, pretty much any nasty thing that a kid shouldn’t have to deal with. A kid should be loved and wanted and taken care of but it seemed like you ended up with the short straw way too many times. Until you met Chris.
It was dark all around except for the parking lot light. You and Issac had gotten into a scuffle by these gangsters— wannabe gangsters. Punches were thrown along with threats. Then a gun went off. He was this 12 year old you met— he lost his home and his abusive parents. You were looking out for him. You had gotten in front of him and took the hits and beatings. But Issac took the bullet.
Chris heard your crying and calling out for help. He ran. He pulled out his phone and came around a truck to see the scene. Your hands are covered in blood as you’re doing chest compressions on your dying friend. He can tell that you’re way too young and Issac is way too young to be shot. You’re just kids.
“Help! Please!” You begged.
Chris dials 9-1-1 and presses call. He pulls off his scarf and gets on his knees. He puts his scarf over the wound that oozes blood. He holds it down with one hand while the other holds his phone and he already feels the warm blood soak through the fabric.
“911, what’s your emergency?” The operator asked.
“A- A kid’s been shot,” Chris said as calmly as he could for you. “He’s losing a lot of blood. You gotta hurry.”
“Where are you, sir? And is the shooter still around?”
Chris gives the street and said, “I don’t know. Probably.”
He’s told to stay on the line so he puts the phone on speaker and puts it on the ground. Chris can see that you’re struggling.
“Switch with me, kid,” Chris said.
You looked up at him with a quiver of the lip. You nod and it’s a quick switch. He’s doing chest compressions and you’re applying pressure to the wound.
“What happened?” Chris asked.
“I- I can’t tell y-you,” you said.
You both hear the sirens of the cop cars and the ambulance. He looks at you to see your own face has been beaten. Your bottom lip is slit and bleeding. You have a cut over your right eye brow and it’s also bleeding. Your cheek is starting to bruise already.
“What happened?” Chris asked.
You kept your mouth shut. The ambulance rolls into the parking lot following a cop car. The paramedics rushed over. The cops immediately asked where the shooter is and you pointed the way to them. They head off and the paramedics take over. Chris has to pull you away from Issac. More cops show up.
“No pulse,” one of the paramedics said. “Shocking to 200. —Clear.”
You clenched your jaw tightly as you watched them try to bring your friend back alive. A cop is trying to talk to you. You haven’t slept in days. You haven’t had a proper meal in months. You don’t even know what day it is. And you’re numb.
“He’s gone,” are the words that you hear.
You screamed and cried. Chris stops you. He can’t believe the situation he’s in at the moment. He doesn’t know you at all. He doesn’t know the kid that’s dead on the wet asphalt of the parking lot. He just wraps his arms around you. You fight against him but you’re weak. You’re not that strong and Chris is an adult who religiously works out.
“Stop, stop,” Chris said. “He’s gone.”
You cried harder and managed to put all your strength into clutching onto Chris. He’s keeping you on your feet. If he wasn’t holding you, you’d be running till you have to stop and then you might be dead somewhere else.
~~~~~next day
“Y/n, you’ve got a visitor,” Andrew, a nurse, said coming into the room.
Chris Evans followed behind with a giant gift bag. You recognize him from last night. The one person who came when you called for help.
“Hey,” Chris said coming into the room. “I got you something.”
You’re left alone with the actor. He places the bag in your lap. You’re very confused. You’ve never have been given anything in these 14 plus years on this earth. It’s a first.
“Why?” You asked.
He sits down on the edge of the bed and faces you.
“Just open it,” he said.
You squinted at him. He grabs the pink tissue paper and tosses it behind himself.
“There,” Chris said. “Now, you pull out what I got for you.”
You pull out this LEGO set and Chris pulls away the now empty bag. You look at the front. It’s the Super Hero Airport Battle with Captain America, the Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, War Machine, and Antman.
“Why are they fighting?” You asked. “Superheroes don’t fight each other.”
“You haven’t seen the movie?” He asked.
You shook your head no and said, “I’ve only seen Iron Man 3.”
“Really?” He asked surprised. “Just Iron Man 3?”
“Yeah. That was when I had parents that wanted me,” you said and you looked back at the box of legos.
“What happened?” Chris asked. “If you don’t mind me asking.”
“They’re dead like Issac,” you said. “They died in a fire. The house burnt down.”
“That sucks,” Chris said looking at you.
“I know,” you said. “Now, you didn’t answer my question. Why are they fighting?”
“There’s this document called the Sokovia Accords. All these countries wanted all the superheroes to sign them,” Chris started telling you. “And make the superheroes liable for their mistakes. The governments of the countries wanted to tell the heroes where they can go help and where they can’t even if people need help.”
“That’s stupid,” you said.
“Right. It’s pretty stupid. So, Iron Man, War Machine, and a few other Avengers signed the accords but Captain America was like, ‘fuck that.’ And so the Avengers were split,” Chris said. “They had one team— Team Cap, obviously the best team and they had another one- Team Iron Man.”
“Who wins?” You asked.
“Nobody. They’re divided,” he said simply.
“All because of the government?” You asked.
“Pretty much,” Chris said.
“Thats fucked up,” you said.
“Language,” he said.
“That’s messed up!” You corrected sarcastically.
“Much better,” Chris said with a shit eating grin on his face. “Why don’t we get started on building the set?”
He pulls over the table. You sit yourself up crisscross even though there’s pain in your ribs and abdomen but you haven’t asked for any painkillers. Chris gets onto the bed more invading your space.
“Take off your shoes, you wild animal. Haven’t you learned anything?” You sassed.
He immediately takes off his shoes giving you this exaggerated annoyed look. He gets onto the bed and sits across from you crisscross. You try to pick off the tape. He lets you struggle trying to get open the box.
“What’s your favorite superhero?” Chris asked but he has a feeling that it’s Iron Man.
“Whoever can get the stupid ass box open,” you said putting the box on the table in between the two of you.
Chris chuckles and takes the box. He rips it open and tears the back wide open.
“There we go,” he said putting it on the table.
“That was obnoxious,” you said looking at him.
He just smiled cheekily. You just shook your head.
“Alright, lets get building,” Chris said rubbing his hands together.
“You sure you didn’t bring this so you could build it yourself?” You asked.
“Excuse me?! I’m helping you build it,” he said and mocked offense.
“Sure,” you said sarcastically and taking out the instruction book.
Chris rolled his eyes. He knows for a fact that he’ll come back tomorrow to visit you.
“What’s your favorite movie?” Chris asked.
“Iron Man 3,” you said opening bag one on the table.
“I know Iron Man,” he announced.
“Are you trying to impress me? Like I don’t get it. I don’t even understand why you’re here and why you’re in the bed across from me or why you’re trying to get to know me by asking questions,” you said. “Don’t you have something better to do instead of spending time with a stupid ass foster kid that nobody wants?”
“First of all, you aren’t stupid. You’re smarter than you think you are. Secondly, I want to spend time with you. I want to get to know you,” Chris said.
“No, you don’t. You just feel bad for me,” you said.
“Honestly, yeah, I do feel bad—,” he said.
“Get out,” you said without hesitation.
“Let me finish,” Chris said.
“No! Get out!” You yelled pushing the legos off the table. “I don’t need you! I don’t need your fucking pity!”
“Y/n,” Chris said.
“GET OUT!” You screamed.
He sighs and slides off the bed. He grabs his shoes and quickly puts them on.
“GET OUT!” You yelled.
Chris finally leaves. Your jaw clenched tightly and tears streamed down your cheeks.
“Dude, you literally kicked out Captain America,” Andrew said shaking his head.
“Leave me alone!” You yelled.
~~~~~next day
Chris walks into the room with a fuzzy blanket, his iPad Pro, and a bag of snacks. The LEGO set is built and off to the side on the table. You’re so far in the bed on the edge that you might fall off. You’ve also been crying. Chris puts the things he brought on a chair except the giant fuzzy blanket. He covers you with the blanket. You looked at him with your eyes red and puffy.
“I told you to get out,” you said.
“That was yesterday,” Chris said grabbing the snacks and his iPad. “Today is a new day.”
He kicks off his shoes and puts the snacks in your lap. He gets into the bed. You try pushing him off. But he’s a 38 year old man. He plants himself right next to you laying on top of the blankets.
“I do feel bad. No kid should’ve seen another kid die or be shot, Y/n,” Chris said opening up his iPad. “I don’t know what else you’ve gone through but I know that it sucked for you and it’s unfair. You should be dealing with high school drama instead but you got dealt the wrong cards, kid. It’s not fair at all.”
He looks at you to find that you have this frustrated look on your face as tears streamed down your cheeks. He puts his arm around you and pulls you into his side. You bury your face into his side and shut your eyes closed tightly. You choked out a sob. His other arm wraps around you and he holds you tightly as you cry.
“You’re gonna be alright,” he said softly. “You’ll make it through all of this.”
You continued to cry and Chris did his best to soothe and console you. He honestly doesn’t know what he’s doing. He just knows he’s gotta protect you.
“Let’s watch a movie,” Chris said as you calmed down a bit.
“W-What movie?” You asked quietly.
“I was thinking Iron Man 1,” Chris said opening his iPad back up.
“You- you have it?” You asked with your eyes lighting up.
“Yup,” he said nodding.
He opened up the collection of movies he houses on the iPad. He scrolls through until he finds it. He taps on it and plays the movie. He looks to see that you’re already entranced. It brings a smile to his face and he turns his focus back on the screen.
The two of you crashed as the credits of Iron Man 2 rolled on the screen.
“Would it be alright if I adopted you?” Chris asked when you two woke up from your impromptu nap.
“Don’t be saying shit like that if you don’t mean it,” you said immediately sitting up and looking at the actor.
“I mean it, Y/n. You don’t have to be dealing with terrible foster parents or being homeless cause it’s better than the other places you’ve been. I got room in my house,” Chris said sitting up. “I got air conditioning.”
“You’re- you’re lying. You don’t want me,” you cried.
He wrapped his arms around you and held you close. You tried your hardest to fight against his hold but he doesn’t budge.
“When have I lied to you?” Chris asked as you cried into his shoulder. “Have I lied to you since we met?”
You shook your head no and he rubbed your back.
“Then I’m not lying now. I’d like to adopt you if you let me,” Chris said.
“O-Okay,” you sniffled.
Chris smiled and pressed a kiss to the top of your head.
~~~~few weeks later
You were first greeted by a very happy Dodger. He jumped on you which freaked you out and you tensed up looking at the dog warily.
“Dodger,” Chris said grabbing Dodger by his collar.
He gently pulls Dodger away and you went back outside. He looks over his shoulder to see you descend down the porch steps. He puts down your backpack that has all you have in it and he takes Dodger outside with him.
“Dodger is very excitable. He loves people,” Chris said sitting down beside you but giving enough space in between. “Sit, Dodger.”
Dodger sits down planting his ass on Chris’ foot. Chris chuckles and pets his furry friend. He makes sure that Dodger doesn’t do anything to you.
“You okay?” Chris asked looking at you.
You shrugged your shoulders and looked away. You sniffled and tried your hardest not to cry. Chris watches as you hold yourself with your arms wrapped around yourself.
“I- I don’t w-want to get attached to him or- or you,” you whimpered with your voice trembling.
Chris slides closer and wrapped his arms around you.
“It’s okay to get attached, Y/n,” Chris said.
“B-But everyone dies!” You exclaimed looking at him with tears streaming down your cheeks. “My parents died. My sister died. My adoptive parents died. Issac is dead! He died right in front of me. Everyone I get attached to dies, Chris. You’re just gonna be one of them.”
“Yeah, I know. I’m not immortal and neither is Dodger and neither are you. Death is inevitable and you’ve dealt with it a lot. The world hasn’t been kind to you,” he said running his fingers through your hair. “You’ve lost so many people and I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.”
“Y-you don’t know that,” you said.
“You’re right. I don’t but it would be a dick move on the world’s part,” Chris said.
You let out a small laugh as he pulled you into his side more. Your arms wrapped around his torso.
“C’mon, let’s go inside,” he said.
You nodded but you don’t move. He chuckles. He stays put for a little longer and holds you.
I Have Wings - Part 5/6 (Bucky x Reader Series)
Other Parts: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
Series Summary: During Bucky’s time as the Winter Soldier he wasn’t alone. A girl with wings was also the subject of super-soldier testing, unfortunately she never gets to tell Bucky how he feels during their time together. When they meet years later, she remembers him but he doesn’t remember her. Does she tell him what she remembers, or will that affect their growing feelings for each other?
A/N: Second to last part! This is a very good series, it’s full of fluff and angst, but it has a fluffy ending. I hope you enjoy it. If you would like to see the future chapters, please follow my blog or the tag #i have wings.
The mission went fine. Nothing really exciting happened at first. It was mostly surveillance and when we found the weak link involved in the terrorist group, he gave up really easily when he saw that members of the Avengers had come after him. After that it was just a matter of arresting the rest of them. It was long though. I had a lot of time to think. Too much time. Just sitting on a rooftop.
Every few minutes James's face would pop into my head. His smile, his eyes, his face the last time I saw him. I cringed every time I thought about it. Back when I first met him, I was weak, I was abused, and I wanted him to see me as I was now. I was strong. I had hurt him when we were pitted against each other, and then there was what he would feel if he remembered what had happened. He was already having a hard time dealing with the guilt of all the other stuff he did, if he knew that he had been forced to hurt me would he hide himself? Would he stop talking to me? I didn’t know.
But if I didn’t tell him, would he keep looking at me the way he had done last time I saw him. Scared, ashamed, and hurt? There didn’t seem to be a right answer to this and I don’t know if I wanted to test it either way. Maybe if I had told him about our past when we first met it would have been different, but then maybe he would have never gotten close to me. I stood by my decision not to do that. I wouldn't give up the past couple months for anything. Maybe if we had met in a different life where we hadn’t been the playthings of Hydra, things would be going along like a regular relationship. We would fight about dishes, or movies, or socks on the floor, and not some weird repressed memories. But that couldn’t happen, this is my reality.
“Angel, the contact is heading into the warehouse, do you see him?” I heard Sam through the com.
I looked across the street to see the man walking towards the warehouse, “I see him.”
“Move in, we need to get a look in one of the windows.”
I did a running leap off the roof and glided silently down onto the roof of the warehouse. I walked lightly across the roof, careful not to make a sound and looked around the outer edges to see if there was a window accessible to me. All the windows were small, and there was no sort of ledge, and I figured it would be pretty obvious if a girl with wings started flapping around outside.
“Sam, window’s a no-go, I’m gonna sneak in.”
“Careful Angel, give confirmation if you see the leader, if you don’t, get out of there.” He said urgently.
“I remember the briefing bird-brain,” I quipped.
He didn’t reply.
I got out my lockpick and quietly opened up the door on the roof, and half walked, half floated down the stairs. My wings were a lot quieter than Sam’s. There was a sort of catwalk all around the perimeter of the open space, very open, open enough that if I had decided to barge right out there they would have seen a shocked bird-person and shot her, me. Luckily none of them were looking up, and there were shadows, and a kind of pole thing that was not big enough to hid behind but definitely obstructed about half of their views of me.
I spotted the leader and was about to tell Sam when I realized my position. If I spoke, even softly, they might hear me. There were ten of them, and one of me, and I really needed the three heroes outside who were much better at incapacitating the enemies. Spiderman, Antman, and the bird brain. They would be here seconds after I spoke, but would it be enough? They had some really fancy weapons after all.
I took in a quiet, deep breath, and spoke as softly as possible. “He’s here, move in,” And just as I thought my feint whisper carried across the echoey warehouse.
The ten men immediately got into action as they yelled to each other and grabbed some menacing looking guns from the crates next to them. I ran along the catwalk, parts of it melting behind me as they missed literally all their shots. Either they were really bad at aiming or I was just faster than I thought.
I tripped as the walkway started giving way, and nearly got hit, and also realized they hadn’t just been aiming for me, but wanted me to get down. I saw the heroes burst in, Peter shooting webs, Scott doing whatever to make the bad guys beat themselves up, and Sam shooting up a storm. I smiled, and glided down to join the fray. While some of the men had already been knocked out or stuck to the wall with webs, I saw the leader grab a briefcase and run out the building.
I ran after him to be impeded by another guy who I took down with a couple punches. I upped my speed taking some flying hops as I got through the door, not far away from the leader.
He heard me and turned around, pointing his gun up in the air where I was hovering. He took a shot and missed, and then I went diving down at him. It was generally the easiest way to take people down because no one really expects a person to use their own body, going faster than gravity, to pummel down at them.
I felt a sharp pain in my side, he had hit me, and then I collided into him and the ground. Thanks to my fast healing powers, the ground didn’t really affect me. His gunshot, however, seemed to be something different than I was used to. It wasn’t healing straight away. He was knocked out though, and it seems like the rest of the people had been apprehended because I saw my friends running toward me.
“Did you body slam someone again?” Sam asked exasperatedly
“Yeah, you know me,” I smiled weakly, clutching my side.
Sam got busy pulling up the guy I knocked out while Peter and Scott stood by me. I grunted, trying to take a step forward and stumbling slightly.
“Woah,” Peter rushed up next to me, “Are you alright?”
“It’s not healing,” I removed my hand and saw blood.
“Dude,” I saw his eyes widen and he grabbed my shoulder to steady me. He looked a little closer, his face tensing slightly, “It looks kinda bad, why aren’t you healing?”
“His gun,” I was in a lot of pain, used to healing so quickly, “I think it might have been different.” I put my arm around Peter and he supported my weight.
“Let’s get you back to the jet,” He said, walking alongside me.
“Dean we shouldn’t be doing this.” Sam sighed as he watched you on your date in the diner across the street.
“We’re just watching out for her.”
“She’s fine Dean, let’s just go back to the bunker.”
“In a minute.”
“You know this is on the cusp of stalking.”
“No, it’s not.” Dean protested rolling his eyes at his brother.
“Why don’t you just tell her you’re in love with her then you won’t have to keep doing this crap and it will be you going on dates with her.”
“I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about, she wouldn’t want to date me anyway.”
Sam huffed out a laugh.
“What?”
“You don’t see the way she looks at you, I’m stuck in the middle of you two all day watching you make love-struck puppy dog eyes at each other when the other isn’t looking.”
“What are you talking about?”
Rolling his eyes with a huff Sam turned to face his brother. “You’re both oblivious to how the other feels, you like her, she likes you, just grow a pair and ask her out for coffee, to dinner or something.”
“It wouldn’t work.”
“Why not? You’ve been friends with her for years, she’s already living with us in the bunker, just ask her out I’m sick of you looking like a kicked puppy every time she has a date or is asked out for a drink with a guy who isn’t you.”
“I don’t do that.” Dean scoffed looking out the towards the diner. “Shit.”
“What?”
“She’s walking this way.” Dean mumbled as he slid lower in his seat, Sam mirroring his brother’s actions.
Walking across the street you watched them sink down on the front bench of the Impala, trying to hide from you. Opening the back door you slid onto the seat shutting the door behind you.
“Either of you want to explain?” You asked looking over the front bench at the two sprawling Winchesters.
Sitting back up Dean turned to face you. “Just checkin’ you’re okay.”
“I’m fine, next time you want to do a stakeout when I’m on a date maybe don’t do it in the loudest and most noticeable cars we have Dean bean.” Patting his chest you sat back in your seat.
“How was the date?” Sam asked turning to face you throwing his arm over the back of the bench.
“He’s nice.” You gave a small shrug as you answered. “Yeah, James is nice.”
“But?” Sam raised his brow at you.
“He’s too nice, he’s a little boring.”
“So you’re not seeing him again?”
“I don’t know.”
“We ready to go home?” Dean asked interrupting your date analysis with his brother as he turned on the engine.
“Yeah, we have something to drink at home right?”
“Yes ma’am.”
Putting the car in drive he pulled the Impala out of its very obvious hiding spot.
-
“So today was a bust huh?” Dean asked pulling a chair out across the library table from you he sat down, grabbing the bottle of whiskey off the table he filled his glass and your own.
“Yeah, I guess it was.” Putting the book you were halfway through down on the table you reached for your glass. “I had a nice time, he was nice but boring, I mean he's a small-town lawyer he doesn’t have an awful lot going on in his life.”
“Civilians not doing it for ya?” He asked taking a sip from his glass.
“Well I’m never going to get out of this life, I love it, I love hunting I think If I’m ever going to settle down or really have a real relationship It’ll be with a hunter, it kind of has to be.” You shrugged putting your glass down on the table.
“Why?”
“How many ex-girlfriends or week-long hookups, who aren’t hunters have you explained this life to?”
“Point taken.” He tipped his glass towards you.
“If I meet someone I meet someone.” Your thumb ran up and down the edge of the glass in your hand.
“Do you want to meet someone?”
“Do you?” You looked up at him, the corner of his lip gently tugging up.
“I think about it.”
“So get this.” Sam walked into the library his laptop resting on one arm as he typed something. Looking up his eyes settled on the open bottle of whiskey, glancing between you and Dean he stopped in his tracks. “Am I interrupting something?” His eyes lingered on Dean waiting for a response.
“No.” Dean sat up straighter.
“Why would you be interrupting?” You asked the taller Winchester as you glanced towards Dean who shot his brother a look.
“No reason.” Putting his laptop down so you could both see the screen he pulled the chair out next to you sitting down. “So I think there’s a case there’s been reports of animal attacks in a small town in Florida.”
“How many reports?” Dean asked before he drained his glass.
“Seven bodies all with hearts missing.”
“So werewolf.”
“Sounds like it, hit the road in ten?” Sam suggested as he closed his laptop and stood up.
“No.” Dean shook his head.
“What?” Sam looked at his brother with a furrowed brow.
“We’ll head out tomorrow morning, we’re all tired and we need a good nights sleep.”
“I can drive -” Sam offered.
“How many hours did you get last night?”
“Erm ... four, maybe.” Sam glanced towards you.
“Exactly, we’re going tomorrow, no one is use to anyone with less than six hours.”
“Okay, bright and early, meet you at the car at six?”
“Sounds good, night Sammy.”
“Night guys.” Walking out of the library he left you alone with Dean.
“You heading to bed?” You asked Dean.”
“One more drink?” Unscrewing the cap on the bottle of whiskey he refilled his glass.
Draining your glass you held it out to him. “What the hell.”
One more drink turned into at least three or four as you talked and laughed with Dean.
“Another?” Dean picked up the nearly empty bottle.
“No.” Putting your empty glass down on the table you stood up, walking around the table towards Dean you took his empty glass and the bottle out of his hands putting them down on the table he pouted up at you. “We, Mr Winchester have a long drive tomorrow, well very nearly today.” You glanced at your watch it was quickly approaching midnight. “We also have a werewolf or two to kill, we need to at least try to sleep.” Holding your hands out towards him he took your hands letting you pull him to his feet, he wasn’t drunk neither of you were just a little buzzed and happier than usual. “Let’s get to bed.”
“I like the sound of that.” He grinned at you as he followed you through the bunker.
“You would.”
Coming to a stop outside his room he let go of your hand. “Are you tired?”
“Not really but we’re not going to carry on drinking.”
“I wasn’t going to suggest we do, go get ready for bed and meet me back here.” Watching him walk into his room he pulled off his flannel when he reached for the hem of his grey v-neck you took it as your cue to leave. You’d seen the Winchester’s shirtless countless times before when you stitched them up or when they were fresh out of the shower with only a towel wrapped around their waists. Truth be told you had seen them both naked at least a handful of times but watching Dean undress in his room felt like a show you shouldn’t be watching. Grabbing a pair of sleep shorts and an old t-shirt which used to be one of Dean’s he’d given you to sleep in two years ago and you’d just never gave it back.
Changing quickly you tried your hair up into a bun on the top of your head as you walked back towards Dean’s room, knocking on his partially open door he pulled it open with one hand as he pulled his shirt down with the other, showing you a flash of the stomach you loved so much. “Come in.” He held his door open for you.
“What are we doing?” Walking into his room his laptop was on at the end of his bed.
“I’m thinkin’ we watch a movie while we fall asleep.”
“We haven’t done that in months.”
“Is that a no?”
“Hell no, I miss this, I miss spending time with you.” Sitting down on his bed you rested against the pillows he’d propped up against his headboard.
“Months of back to back hunts will do that, we should really tell Sam to cool it.” Dean sat down next to you pulling his laptop closer. “What do you wanna watch?” He asked scrolling through Netflix.
“Anything.” Cuddling up to him your cheek rested on his shoulder.
It used to be a regular thing for you to watch a movie with Dean and fall asleep together, it started one night after a very vivid nightmare leaving you unable to sleep without seeing monsters tearing Sam and Dean apart. Dean heard your screams and stayed with you until you were able to breathe normally again, keeping you calm. It was nearly two hours after Dean left your bed that you were walking down the halls towards Dean’s room, knocking on his door he was sat up watching Indiana Jones on his laptop, he didn’t say a word just pulled back the covers in front of him waiting for you to crawl in, as soon as you were in bed with him he wrapped his arms around you waiting until you’d fallen asleep before he turned off the movie and fell asleep himself. Hunting slowly interrupted your little routine with Dean and you felt yourself slowly growing apart from Dean.
“Dean.” Your hand resting over his heart gave his chest a small pat, pulling his attention away from his laptop where Antman’s credits rolled.
“What? Do you want to watch something else?” He mumbled looking down at him.
“No, no.” You smiled up at him.
“You okay?” His arm around your waist gave you a small squeeze.
“Yeah, I’m just thinking.”
“Bout what?”
“What we were talking about earlier, about meeting someone.”
“What about it?”
“What if I’ve already met him?”
“James?” His brow creased slightly.
“No, not the guy I went on one date with, what if I’ve known him for years, he’s a good guy, a great guy even.”
Dean’s hand ran down your side to rest on your hip. “Oh really.” He asked as his lips tugged up at the corners.
“Yeah, I think I’ve met him.”
“You wanna tell me more about him?” His smile slowly grew into a grin.
“Well, he’s tall, not quite as tall as his brother.” Dean’s fingers gave your hip a playful squeeze. “He’s beautiful, his eyes are the most breathtaking shade of green I’ve ever seen, he’s strong, really strong.” Your fingertips danced across his bicep his muscles tensing under your touch. “He makes me feel safe, I know if I’m with him he’d risk his life for mine, he has before, twice.” Running your hand down his chest you pushed the hem of his shirt up slightly your palm resting flat against his stomach, moving your hand towards his side your thumb running over one of his newest scars. “He took a dagger to the side to protect me, pushed me out of the way and let a demon stab him all to save me.” Pulling your hand back towards his stomach your fingers ran over the bullet hole scar, one of the first he’d got protecting you. “And even took a bullet for me, that’s the guy I’d want to think about settling down with, what would you tell a girl who said all of that about you?”
Dean’s palm cupped your cheek. “I’d tell her that I love her and that I’ve been in love with her for years, years before I ever took a bullet for her, that she’s beautiful, smart and funny, she’s my best friend and I don’t know what I would do without her in my life, I’ve seen her go on dates, watched her leave hoping she’d find someone better than me, someone, worthy of her love-”
“Dean kiss me.”
Wasting no time his lips crashed into yours the palm cupping your cheek moved to the back of your head as he held you close. Pulling away his forehead rested against yours. “You’re sure?”
“Dean Winchester -”
“I love you.” He cut you off.
“I love you too, you seriously want to do this?”
“Do I want to date you? Of course I do.”
-
“We should have done this months ago.” Dean kissed you as he pulled the sheets up over your naked bodies.
“God yes.” Flopping back in bed your head rested against the pillows, catching a glimpse of the alarm clock on Dean’s nightstand you gently slapped his chest. “We have an hour before Sam wants us on the road.”
“We can sleep in the car.”
“He’s going to be so pissed at us.”
“Trust me he’s not.” Dean chuckled.
-
Covering up the yawn with your hand you gratefully accepted the travel mug of coffee Dean was holding out towards you. “Thank you.”
“Did you two stay up all night drinking?” Sam asked as he raised a brow at you throwing his duffel into the open trunk slamming it shut.
“No, we didn’t.” Sliding into the backseat you watched Dean throw the keys towards his brother, Sam’s hand darted out catching them before they hit the floor.
“What are you doing?” Sam looked from the keys in his hand to Dean.
“Taking up last night’s offer, you’re driving Sammy.” Getting in the back seat Dean sat next to you. “We’re gonna sleep.”
It only took 30 minutes before you were half asleep resting on Dean’s shoulder, your arm resting across his stomach, Dean’s arm wrapped around your waist.
“So.” Sam raised a brow at his brother in the rearview mirror.
“What?” Dean grumbled in response.
“You weren’t up all night drinking, you either had a movie night or you finally told her how you feel.”
Running your hand across Dean’s stomach you couldn’t help but smile.
“Let us sleep, Sammy.” Dean gave your waist a squeeze.
“You told her, didn’t you? You told her you love her?” Sam looked at Dean with wide eyes.
“Yeah, he did.” Opening your eyes you smiled at Sam.
Leaning down Dean kissed the top of your head.
“I’m happy for you both.” Sam couldn’t help but smile watching the two people closest in his life finally happy together.
Closing your eyes again you couldn’t wipe the smile from your face.
“Sammy?” Dean mumbled pulling you closer to him as he got comfortable in the back seat
“Yeah?”
“Wake us up when we get there.”
Late Nights
X1 Extra Member AU:
Summary: It’s late at night and the older members start to talk.
A/N: Idk what I did here. I just had a line that I really wanted to use, and wrote all this out, just so I can use it. I’m not even sure it’s good, but here it is.
REQUEST ARE OPEN! Please send them in! And feedback is greatly appreciated.
Tumblr media
Jaein walked into the living room to join the rest of her members. She was the last one to shower and had taken her time. The water was cold by the time she stepped it, but she has learned long ago that if you placed a small space heater in the corner of the bathroom it’ll keep the room warm, which is very helpful when the water isn’t.
She finished drying her hair, and then placed the towel around her neck. Jaein smiled as she spotted Dongpyo wearing the same set of navy blue snowman pajamas as her. He saw that she noticed and smiled back, shooting a finger gun at her.
She had gone shopping with him a few days ago and he had begged to get a matching set with her. When she finally agreed (though it didn’t take that long seeing as Jaein could never say no to that face) he had dragged her home and forced her to change so he could snap some pics.
“Cute,” Wooseok stated, sipping his tea as Jaein walked by.
“You’re just jealous,” she smirked, sitting next to her pajama partner. Dongpyo cuddled up to her once she was comfortable.
“So what are we watching tonight?” Hangyul asked, holding two family sized bags of chips. Yohan followed after him, with three packages of cookies.
“I still say we should watch Antman,” Jaein said, rolling her head back on the couch, then rolling to look at Wooseok who shook his head.
“No,” was all he said taking another sip of tea.
“How about-” Hangyul began, but was cut off by a towel that hit him in the face, Jaein’s towel to be exact.
“No horror!”
“Fine,” he grumbled, tossing the towel on the ground and taking a seat next to Eunsang and Hyeongjun.
“How about Your Name?” Dongpyo asked, snuggling closer to Jaein. She could tell that he was already getting tired. She internally cooed. Looking up Jaein saw Seungwoo pout at her. Shrugging, she stuck her tongue out at him.
“I haven’t seen that one yet,” Yohan stated eating some of the cookies.
“It’s pretty good,” Wooseok said, tilting his head a bit, “Is there anyone that would like to watch that?” There was a chorus of agreement, and the eldest got up to put the movie in.
************************
“What’s one thing that you wish you could do?” Yohan asked into the dark. The movie had ended half an hour ago and all of the kids had fallen asleep. Only the hyung line and Jaein were still up.
“Hmm, there are some countries I’d like to visit,” Woosek spoke softly.
“I’d love to visit Brazil,” Jaein spoke up.
“You’d love it there,” Seungyoun stated, Jaein could hear his smile.
“I’d like to try producing more music,” Hangyul said. In the dark, Jaein could make out the outline of him playing with Hyeongjun’s hair.
“I could help with that,” Seungyoun sat up a bit, taking interest.
“Yeah?” Hangyul asked, “That’d be cool.”
“Teamwork,” Yohan said in mock cheer. The others laughed.
“How about you Jaein-ah?” Seungwoo asked, turning his head in her direction.
“Well,” she paused as she thought for a bit. “I’d like to rip my shirt off on stage.” At that, Jaein could hear Yohan sputter next to Wooseok.
“And dance in just a bra?” Seungyoun asked incredulously.
Jaein nodded, “I’d still be wearing my pants, but yeah.”
“Well you have the abs for it,” Hangyul chuckled.
“Now, would it be a sports bra or like a bra bra?” Seungwoo asked cautiously.
“Guys! Stop,” Yohan whined, covering his face with his arms.
Jaein laughed, “Don’t worry. I don’t think I could.”
“Why not? I thought you were all about ‘ruler of my life and body’?” Wooseok asked.
“I am, trust me. If I had had the right amount of confidence I would have done it years ago, but I didn’t.”
“So, it’s a confidence thing?” Yohan asked from behind the pillow that he had smothered himself with once he saw that this conversation wasn’t going to end yet.
“Oh, no. I have the confidence. But I also have a group with half of the members being underage and the maknae being an actual child,” Jaein looked over at all of the sleeping kids in the room.
“So you’re blaming us for not being able to live out your dreams of being a stripper?” Jaein jumped at the new voice, along with the other guys.
Looking over to her side, she saw that Dongpyo was awake and had an eyebrow raised in her direction. “What? How long have you’ve been listening?”
“Long enough to know that when you grow up, you want to become a stripper.”
“That’s. Nope. That’s not it,” Jaein stuttered, finding a pillow and smothering Dongpyo with it. He let out a squeal, and it was a miracle that the others hadn’t woken up yet.
While this was going on, laughter was coming from the other side of the room.
“Oh, this is rich,” Seungyoun laughed, wiping at his eyes.
“Only Dongpyo,” Wooseok smiled.
Said boy flung the pillow to the floor and smiled, “Noona, we’ll support you no matter what.”
“Yeah, Noona. If this is your dream go live it out,” Hangyul chuckled. Jaein turned to him and glared.
“Please don’t” Seungwoo begged, actually sounding scared.
“Yah! I wouldn’t actually,” Jaein said, covering her face in embarrassment. “I hate you all.”
Endgame of Thrones (April Picks)
Tumblr media
Does it even matter what else I watched earlier this month because THIS WEEKEND! If every weekend was like this one I don’t know how I could function. Thankfully Game of Thrones’ Battle of Winterfell and Avengers Endgame were on two different days so my body had some time to process it all. But even preparation couldn’t get me ready for all of the action that occurred. Here come the spoilers!
Spoilers.....
Spoilers....
Spoilers...
I’m serious here they come!
GAME OF THRONES 8x03
Tumblr media
After last week’s episode I was FEARFUL for what would come at the Battle of Winterfell. The impending battle that was foreshadowed since the beginning was inevitable and with several (if not all) of the characters reaching a full character development I grew even more worried for their safety. 8x02 had to be one of my favorite episodes of GOT so far because we had some many characters reuniting and under the same roof with these full circles being made. The top moment for me had to be when Brienne of Tarth became Ser Brienne. Then I immediately started hoping she would survive the next episode. (Thanks writers for making us not be able to just enjoy anything anymore.)
So, last night as 8x03 began I got ready for the worst, unsure if anyone would survive and after watching I have to say that I am shocked at how many people lived through it. (Which once again makes me very fearful for what lies ahead in the rest of the show. There’s no way all of them will make it, right?) Our main focus has been on the Night King and his oncoming dark night that I was SHOCKED when Arya killed him! I thought we would have to fight him for multiple episodes. Okay, I actually thought he wouldn’t have even been at Winterfell. I believed the theory he was going straight for Kings Landing which actually would have probably been the smarter move. After he was killed I sat there for a moment like: What are the next 3 episodes going to be about? Completely forgetting that Cersei exists.
But that kill! WOW ARYA! I did not see that coming. I thought Jon would have been more of a contributing factor in the Night King’s death due to him being the product of Fire and Ice, but other than getting lost on his dragon Jon basically spent the episode on the sidelines. I was so happy that Arya got to kill the Night King with one of her oldest tricks. Which of course now makes me upset for her safety. Another full character arc?
I just wish Bran looked more thankful. But then again he only wears one face now-a-days. As I’ve heard several people mention, I really do hope we learn why the Night King was so obsessed with Bran (who btw I was expecting to have more of a role in the fighting).
There’s so much I want to discuss about this episode but let’s take a moment to remember the fallen: Edd, I knew someone would die protecting Sam and it made sense to be him. Your watch has ended. Lyanna Mormont, I was so worried about her and this crushed me, but she went out like she lived: a badass. Beric Dondarrion, so many times I was like how is he still alive? But it was all for a reason as Melisandre predicted he would help Arya survive. Theon Greyjoy, the complete character arc worried me, but I didn’t think we would lose him this soon. He went out protecting Bran, in the place that was his true home and Bran said he was a good man. What is dead may never die. Jorah Mormont, earlier in the episode as he was one of the first ones on the front lines to charge I didn’t feel confident and was all the more impressed as he made it back time after time. But it all made sense as he had to protect Dany one last time. [Man, as I’m writing all of these out they are starting to become realer and I don’t think I can handle it.] And last but not least, Melisandre, who I was pretty shocked to see at the start of this episode. She came in clutch and the living would not have been able to win without her. Valar Morghulis.
As everyone predicted the crypts were not the “safest place in Winterfell” as once the Night King emerged the dead started to rise. Once again, I was pretty shocked that we didn’t have more major character deaths down here. I loved the touching scene between Tryion and Sansa as we transitioned between the battlefield and the crypt with no audio except for the music track. Very impactful.
There is so much more I can say, but these were definitely my first thoughts on the episode. I can’t believe the battle has come and gone and now we have to venture back to Kings Landing. Be safe my friends!
AVENGERS ENDGAME
Tumblr media
Over 10 years in the making and 22 films later Avengers Endgame closed a chapter in Marvel history. Walking into the theater I was not emotionally, mentally or physically (3 hours/no bathroom break) prepared. The night before I had re-watched Infinity Wars (and just like with Game of Thrones) prayed for the safety of these heroes.
I know it was said before but SPOILERS ARE COMING!
My first thought for defeating Thanos seemed to rely on time travel, but I was surprised to see that it took 5 years in the world after the snap before traveling back to get the infinity stones. I LOVED how much of a role Antman aka Scott Lang played in this role. (Thanks to that rat for hitting the right buttons after 5 years.) This character gave us some more insight into what had been going on for that amount of time and of course brought more humor to the film. (I mean he does deliver one of the best lines that gets repeated by Cap later: “That’s America’s butt.”
Opening with the Hawkeye flashback as he has a typical afternoon with his family and then the snap happens where he loses everyone was so tragic. I was not expecting the movie to start that soon as we usually see the classic Marvel opening. The transformation in his character made so much sense and was really interesting to explore. I liked how we got to see both Hawkeye and Antman included where they were missing for the previous film.
This movie reminded me why I enjoy the MCU so much with all the references to previous films. The site of the first Avengers film: New York City 2012, brought back so many great memories and made me want to rewatch all of them. I loved how we got some exact flashbacks from the movies and then some added scenes showing more of a transition from one movie to the other. (Example: The Avengers to Winter Soldier and Captain America’s “Hail Hydra” moment in the elevator. Of course, I also enjoyed seeing Loki again as it seems that we did truly lose him.) Also seeing clips of old movies from a different angle was cool, like with Starlord singing at the start of Guardians of the Galaxy. Other time events we had never actually been to before, but were still a great trip with Steve seeing Peggy again and Tony his dad. I personally loved seeing Jarvis.
One of the biggest moments for me was when Captain America held Thor’s hammer during the final battle. It had been predicted in earlier films (particularly Age of Ultron) that he would be worthy enough to wield Mjölnir and they were right. There’s times where he’s using the hammer and the shield and then he alternates with Thor. So good!
Just as with the Night King in GOT, Thanos is defeated in this film, but it is not without loss on our side. It starts with Black Widow sacrificing herself for the soul stone. I was really hoping there was some sort of loop hole that would bring her back because of all the time travel stuff and was really shocked when Bruce Banner/Hulk said he tried but wasn’t able to get her back. I had heard rumors of Scarlett Johanssen getting her own Black Widow movie so I am a bit confused unless it is a prequel story. Either way I hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of this hero. Tony Stark’s death was one that I thought might happen going into the movie, but it did not prepare me for it actually happening. As I was talking about before with the full circle character development, Tony experienced this. He was also the kick off to the MCU, so it made even more sense for this ending. His final sentence: “I am Ironman” still gives me chills. While Captain America didn’t technically “die” and lived out his life with Peggy as he always wanted, it was also a goodbye to his character. It was great to see him pass the shield over to Sam but it will still feel a bit strange to not see Steve next film.
There’s so much more that I can continue to talk about and I know as soon as I publish this article I will probably think of something else to say, but as you can see I definitely enjoyed this movie and can’t wait to see it again in theaters.
So, I survived the weekend! I hope you did too. Let me know how you feel about all of this!
Avengers Endgame (spoilers)
So yeah I saw endgame last night and it was really good, it didn’t feel like over 3 hours at all. It made me cry a lot and it has made me think about getting the blurays to the films ones day, either the phase 1,2,3 (and 4 if there is one) or one huge collective one of the films up to now.
I have some points I’d like to make, some good, some bad:
I was really shocked how little screen time Carol got, like she was in the posters and trailers but barely in it, I get after going on the tags that it was a movie focused on the original 6 because some were leaving and she is now part of the new generation so she’s gonna be in future films but I would have liked a bit more, especially in the final fight. Also seeing her with short hair wow!! She has short hair in the comics right? I’m thinking of seeing captain Marvel again if its still in cinema friday since I don’t start till 4 so I could see it before then, I did enjoy cm but I think it missed something to tip it over the edge, I don’t know what but maybe seeing it again I’ll have a different opinion. And also no fury/carol scene???
Wanda!!!!! my baby, my wife I missed her so much and seeing her kick arse was fucking amazing, I was quietly cheering when she came back and showing how fucking powerful she is, almost killing Thanos herself if he wasn’t a baby and made that call (same with Carol she almost killed him but he chickened and did the power stone thing). And seeing her talk to Clint at the funeral. I can’t wait for her tv show and to see her again. And I’m gonna be gay for a second and say with Vision gone can she have a girlfriend now XD I would love to see her and Carol interact.
Seeing Valkyrie again was so awesome I wasn’t sure if she was in it but so happy to see her again, again short time but what we got was good and hope to see her in another film. Plus seeing her on the peagasus was cool also.
That all girl team scene, looovveeedd ittttt I wish it was longer though like three times as long since we see more of the guys fighting and not enough of these incredible women, I hope one day we get to see an all female team film, that would be fucking great. But not seeing Natasha in that was really sad, but I’ve seen posts where they spoke that Natasha paved the way for these girls to be here, now she’s passed the torch over the them, still it didn’t feel the same, maybe if they mentioned her that would have done it. I love it, but it was missing her.
The funny moments like seeing Thor overweight, the american ass scene, when Steve fought himself and baby Scott. When Carol met Peter and Peter met Valkyrie. There were so many good moments especially with the o6, since we wouldn’t be seeing them again.
Steve and Thor’s hammer, that was super cool and I wasn’t expecting that, neither the audience. I’m guessing it has happened in the comics though but really seeing him use the hammer and his shield was really cool, I’m not fond of CA but he was alright in this film actually.
I wasn’t expecting the whole go back in time and get the stones story plot, I thought the whole thing was just going to be finding Thanos and getting the stones but after like 15 mins when Thor killed Thanos it’s like...oh..so to get this plot of them going back in time to points in past films was really great and giving the fans a look back at where they were to where they are now.
I really like the avengers past scene, like when they captured Loki and Clint and Natasha got a drink, and Hulk having to take the stairs, I really loved that scene, Avengers is a film I’ve seen maybe four or five times which is rare for me since I pretty much only see a film once unless I really like it (or need to see it before the next one as a refresher) there was just something about it that really made it great.
The fact that five years had gone, I was thinking there might have been a timeskip but not that much, like seeing Natasha trying everything to not show how broken she was before she spoke to Steve, god I can’t imagine, I thought there might have been because of her hair but not that much. Cassie being older I don’t know if the actress just looks older but I’ve been looking up and Cassie would have been 10 in Antman and Wasp so she would be 15/16 in endgame, she just looks older to me. And with Peter and his friends, how does that work with school? their in the same year right? like school year?
The whole Gamora thing...I wasn’t expecting that and I’m not sure what’s going to happen now. With GOTG 3 does this mean it’s going to focus on finding her? And will Nebula be with her or them, I can’t remember if she was on the ship at the end I think she was. I just wanna say I’m happy for Karen getting such a huge job in this like she was in endgame a lot and being a dr who fan I’m happy she got this role and for her to be succeeding.
There are probs more things I can mention if I remember but you know what I need to mention, who left. I was expecting Steve to die at least, what happened to him I’m happy, it was so good to see Peggy again since I really enjoyed the Agent Carter show before they canceled it, it was a beautiful way to end his story. He went back and replaced the stones and decided he wanted the life he wanted even if it meant leaving everyone behind. It was a nice send off for him and him giving the shield to his friend was great. Maybe my opinion on Steve will change when I watched the past films again I don’t know but yeah he got his happy ending.
Tony.....well I fucking cried when he died, I wasn’t expecting it because I only thought Steve would and when it happened oh man seeing him after the snap like just out of it and Pepper being with him, when she said they would be okay and he can go, yeah that did it for me. He got the life he wanted, he got a daughter but he’s not gonna see her grow and I feel bad for them, but seeing how he was from the first iron man film to now how he’s changed. And using that I am iron man line that was fantastic. I didn’t want him to die, retire and go somewhere yeah but not die, but he did save everyone and it had to be someone. His legacy will live on.
What I wasn’t fucking expecting was to see Natasha die...like...when I saw that scene I was in shock, I think I got teary but not full blown because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, like it didn’t hit me till after the film finished that she was truly gone. I felt terrible for her because she sacrificed herself for her family, she didn’t have a family like Clint or Tony had, she didn’t have the best childhood and did many things she probs wasn’t proud of but for her to sacrifice herself so everyone could come back and her family can reunite was so sad like, she never got to be happy like finding someone to love and adopt some kids of her own and relax, she didn’t get an ending like Steve, and she didn’t get a death scene like Tony. I think that’s why it shocked me because it was so sudden and I just thought she was just going to come back once everything returned. And after reading some tumblr posts it really made me realise how if it wasn’t for her we may not have the female characters we have now, she started that and gave us the girls we have now. And its even more incredible sad she never got to be part of the final fight, that’s what really annoyed me, she didn’t get to be part of that all girl scene, didn’t see them won, or see them come back. I felt like she didn’t get the ending she deserved but given and ending she had to have because they needed someone to sacrifice. Natasha is one of line of girls who helped me realise I’m gay and now there are girls that are continuining that line not just in marvel but everywhere. I kinda pulled her to the side once Wanda came but seeing Endgame made me think how she meant to me then and when I rewatch the films I won’t forget it. When they announced they were finally doing the Black Widow film I said how I wanted a Wanda Maximoff film instead, but now after watching Endgame I can’t wait for it, one final send off from her.
I think that’s everything really, I look forward to the next generation of films and characters, hoping for more lgbtq+ representation and everything, bringing me more girls to love and future films to enjoy. This was quite a ride, I wish I was more invested in Marvel, but maybe I can look into the comics and try a few :) Thanks for these long years o6 and heres to the future.
so I saw Avengers Endgame last night, and honestly.....
I actually frickin’ LOVED it haha, I haven’t genuinely enjoyed one of the Avengers ensemble movies that much since the first one. Granted I’m still very sleep-deprived and on a slightly giddy high from how much it exceeded my expectations haha, and once I’ve thought more about it I’m sure I’ll find things to nitpick. But for the time being, I’m still pretty much swooning.
FULL INCOHERENT THOUGHTS/REACTIONS TO SPECIFIC THINGS BELOW THE CUT, AND OFC, ***SPOILERS*****
ONCE AGAIN: ******SPOILERS********
these are just my rambling Emotions about different moments, ostensibly in the order they occurred in the movie, but actually in the order I remember them:
The opening scene: that moment when Clint turned away from his daughter, and then turned back to see just a few remaining ashes floating slowly where she’d been was beautifully shot. Also beautiful: the soft gasp that went around the theatre right when it happened haha
Killing Thanos within the first 10 minutes and breaking the expected formula and thereby thrusting the movie out into unknown waters? lmao WELL PLAYED, ENDGAME <3
Steve picking up Sam’s mantle and running a support group for survivors? flawless move. My heart couldn’t take it
Okay first thing I genuinely didn’t like: “fat Thor” as a punchline. It was so cringey. My friends and I were discussing how that actually COULD have been so great had they explored Thor’s breakdown and PTSD in a meaningful way, and I mean who wouldn’t adore thicc Thor? But instead we got comedic zooms on his beer belly, and yeah. Kudos to Hemsworth for being a gem and making it work but yeah. Nothing wrong with Thor going to seed physically as well as mentally, just wish it hadn’t been played for laughs is all
Tony basically ripping his heart out and putting it in Steve’s hand? I knew my Vintage™ Stony feels were going to resurface and oh boy did they ever haha
Honestly their whole dynamic in the movies works very well if you imagine that they had angsty hate sex that wasn’t actually hate sex at all, and there was the possibility of real feelings there, but for whatever reason they just couldn’t. quite. make. it. work.
That moment with Antman and Hulk’s fans was so genuinely awkward and I could not stop laughing. Paul Rudd is a gift
It only took them 7 years to realize that all fans ever wanted was the Avengers lounging around in hoodies and eating takeout, but it felt all the more earned for it haha
this is silly but it was nice to have a return to Nat’s red hair...sort of lol
TIME HEIST! TIME HEIST! TIME HEIST! TIME HEIST!!
^^^ That was around when I really started settling in like ‘oh this is gonna be good’
the only spoiler I was exposed to was the ‘Steve’s ass finally gets the recognition it deserves’ post, and did it ever
got as close as we’ll get to canonically bi steve rogers and imma take it haha. Checking out your own ass? Legends only (in fact in our post-movie debrief over drinks, our first toast was ‘here’s to bisexual disaster steve rogers’ he time heisted my heart all over again)
and honestly props to them for going the cute nostalgic route by revisiting all the old movies like that, and not trying to be overly ‘dark and gritty’ for the whole thing. It was lovely how they did it, and very appropriate
The ‘Come and get your love’ credits from GotG is like the only concrete thing I even remember from that movie lol, and I was so giddy when it resurfaced
I’ll be honest, I’m so over aliens and space lol, any time one of these movies goes to space I’m basically yawning instantly, I’M JUST NOT INTO IT FOR THESE MOVIES SORRY. So I’m glad the space stuff was kept to a minimum in this haha. The way they do alien civilizations just never really packs a punch for me, with the single exception of...
......NEBULA MY LOVE <3 She was always the most intriguing and raw of any of the characters in those movies for me. Karen Gillan gives her an amazing presence, so I was glad to see her get a good showcase in this one
Oh hi Robert Redford, I definitely wasn’t reading Butch and Sundance fan fiction on the bus to work 12 hours before this movie asdjhgf haha that was a fun surprise
“Hail Hydra” ajshgd FUCKING EPIC OH MY GOD. I couldn’t breathe. That was amazing.
On a much less lighthearted note.......Natasha. Oh god. I really didn’t think they were going to go there with any of the original six but they did. Natasha was my original fave at the tender of 18, I was completely in awe of how Scarlett portrayed her, immediately cut my hair and dyed it red in tribute haha, and claimed her as my OG fave. I adored her, and still adore her. And honestly, I would have been so much more upset about her fate if...it hadn’t been so completely right for her. As much as I hate to say it, what she did was very character-appropriate for her, and really brought her full circle. And sneaky/unexpected to the end omg. That’s my girl.  I’m a diehard Black Widow fan, and I think it’s safe to say she definitely wiped out the red in her ledger, if there ever was any left <3
.....that being said, really, no lingering zoom on a photo of her somewhere at the avengers compound? Nothing? The reaction immediately afterwards was well done, but it was kind of awks that it never came back with even a mention lol
Loved the way they did the ‘Guys...I think it worked’ emphasized only by the sound of birdsong. This movie killed it with the quieter moments
And now for something absolutely not quiet:
STEVE!!!
CAUGHT!!!!
THOR’S!!!!
HAMMER!!!!
I HAVE NEVER HEARD A THEATRE COLLECTIVELY LOSE THEIR SHIT LIKE THAT IN MY LIFE
I may have screamed. So. fucking. aces.
Between ‘Hail Hydra’, ‘That is America’s ass’, and lifting the hammer, Steve really owned this movie didn’t he lol
that’s my boy <3
they may have turned steve’s last movie into an avengers movie, but man alive this avengers movie was pretty much steve’s show and he killed every second of it
I’m giddy just thinking about it
And speaking of giddy, everyone’s return.....normally the big final climactic battle scene tends to pale in comparison to nimbler action sequences that happened earlier, but I said giddy and I meant it. They really pulled out all the crown-pleasing stops in it, and it was impossible to nitpick, I had the biggest fucking smile on my face the whole time
AND OH MAN THAT ONE LITTLE MOMENT WITH DR. STRANGE. HOLDING UP ONE FINGER. WHAT A MOMENT. INCREDIBLE. JAW-DROPPING. VISIONARY. TRANSCENDAENT. UPLIFTING. MY HEART SOARED.
Until......THAT MOMENT
“I am Iron Man”
TONY
Oh god
Everyone speculated it would happen, but I didn’t actually think it would. IDK MAYBE I’M JUST NAIVE LOL.
I was actually kind of numb there for a while and I stayed numb until....
“Your dad liked cheeseburgers too”
Yeah there was no recovering after that lol, I was basically a wreck until the end from that moment on
Man...Tony Stark actually died....
As powerful as it was, I don’t really think they had to go there in order to bring the pathos? Idk I have mixed feelings about that choice lol, his big moment was epic but you know what else is epic? Going back to your log cabin to live with your family in peace lol. Idk I’m still not sure how I feel about their choice with that, but maybe it just hasn’t fully hit me yet
Sam as the new Captain America?? A-fucking-men
And this brings us to the ending
the controversial ending which is already causing its own civil war based on what I’ve seen so far haha. And for what my two cents are worth....
I loved it. That was a bold move and I really have to give them props for choosing something risky and unexpected as a conclusion.
That last shot was absolutely beautiful. The moment ‘It’s Been A Long, Long Time’ kicked in I think my breath caught. And that slow zoom in on the window to see Steve and Peggy dancing 11 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a close, and sealing it with a kiss? Gorgeous.
I’m honestly choked up again just thinking about it lol.
And although it’s a small thing, no end credits sequence?? That’s what we call true closure lol, and I think that was what really hammered in the fact that it’s really all over, folks <3
Yes there were some nit-pickable things, some things that could have been better, or came too little too late, and I can’t even BEGIN to wrap my head around the time-travel implications in the conclusion (and I’m not sure we’re supposed to haha). But they took approximately 9000 storylines and characters and managed to represent them in what was actually a genuinely emotional, thoughtful, and entertaining movie that managed to smash the expected formula and the gently pick it back up again to piece together a satisfying, crowd-pleasing, and soaring resolution. Yeah a good deal of the emotional-payoff was already built in what with audiences bringing their own 10-year journeys with these movies to the theatre, and part of my excitement about this movie is definitely tied into the overall pop culture phenomenon itself. But as a movie it exceeded all my expectations, and I’m very satisfied. Thanks, Marvel. It’s been a good run <3
SAW INFINITY WAR and as you must know, there is much to be said... under the cut!
I WAS MORE UPSET ABOUT HEIMDALL THAN LOKI TBH
and with the time stone in play I take nothing as solid until part 2 is over. Though I hope they stick to their guns and actually have the deaths in acts 1 and 2 be permanent
pray to God valkyrie survived she didn't even get a look in
I love how they didn't make any of thanos' other children's character designs memorable in the slightest. I've already forgotten them. why were they all that strange blue-grey colour? mediocrity is greige
I also love that at the end of the first avengers or whenever thanos was like 'fine... I'll do it myself' and he... DID NOT DO THAT and sent his kids instead lmfaaooooo
I am like.... The furthest thing from a tony stark stan and I don't like him most of the time (and he was really trying it in this movie!!! his relationship with Spiderman always misses the mark with me and I hate that the films obviously love it) but Thanos being the terrifying PTSD Goliath of his nightmares is a Good storyline
I've said before that nebula and Gamora should have been the emotional heart of this movie and they weren't because thanos was with a side of Tony and it's like..... I guess.......
how much better would this whole thing be if thanos was a woman? That's a thought that just occured to me and now it's going to haunt me
i would very much like to run away to scotland with Paul Bettany and have him kiss my hand and tell me to read his mind
cap usually does nothing for me at all but seeing him with that Fugitive Beard.... for the first time, I felt things. Things were felt he should always have facial hair
THEY LITERALLY DIDNT EVEN SHOW ANTMAN ABD HAWKEYE BECAUSE NO ONE CARES DJDJJDKSKSK
though a shrink machine... would have been helpful?
i was about an hour into this film and still not connecting with thanos until, like a eureka, it hit me that HE IS AGAMEMNON
THANOS IS AGAMEMNON
THE SOUL STONE SCENE WAS IPHIGENIA AT AULIS AND NOW, UNFORTUNATELY, I MUST CARE
i literally was sitting there in my seat BELLIGERENTLY DELIGHTED it's a goddamn GREEK TRAGEDY
THE HOUSE OF ATREUS IN SPACE
SPACE ATREUS
GAMORA WAS TOO GOOD FOR THE GUARDIANS we deserved a solo movie with her and nebula
who is now the CLYTEMNESTRA I CANNOT BELLLLIIEEEVEEE
Thanos as an environmentalist is... so funny the EPA as a villain? okay trump administration
was that the bad guy from Captain America the first avenger? Like.... The Nazi????? Why on earth did they bring him back lmao
SHURI IS THE SMARTEST PERSON ON EARTH, WE KNEW THIS
it is so fucking funny that marvel realised, belatedly, that they have more than one female hero now and so gave them a fight scene together
19 films in. 10 years later
okay look i know that giving up the time stone is The One Timeline that ends in them beating thanos and that it had to be done but like
I AM SO FUCKING PISSED THAT HALF THE /////UNIVERSE///// DIED... TO SAVE TONY STARK LMFAO
LIKE I KNOW THATS NOT THE REASON BUT NARRATIVELY IT WAS THE REASON and it's.... some bullshit
case in point: MISS WANDA WHO DID WHAT FUCKING NEEDED TO BE DONE
they really made her kill her boyfriend... her gentle boyfriend who is Paul Bettany.... theyre really trying to make me care about Wanda and vision
why did the wakanda battle feel like that fight between the gungans and the droids in phantom menace?????? Jajsjdhhdhdjjdjfj
having people fight hand to hand on the ground against a massive alien army invasion was ridiculous
wakanda forever though M'BAKU IS TOO BEAUTIFUL
HE CALLED TCHALLA HIS BROTHER!
OKOYES SIDE EYE AT BUCKY DJDJDJDJDJEJ
the guardians humor felt mad out of place this whole movie lmao
is it wrong I didn't care if Drax was dead dead when thanos turned him into rubber or whatever?
I'm cool with thanos' culling if it kills off all the annoying dudes. Marvel is too full of them
if thanos is agamemnon - and he is - that makes Steve hector and again, I for the first time in my whole life, Felt Things for him in that last scene. you really did it Kevin Feige
AND THANOS SMILED, FOR THERE WERE NO MORE WORLDS TO CONQUER
AND I LOOKED DOWN UPON MY NEW DOMINION AS MASTER OF ALL; AND I THOUGHT IT GOOD.
okay my brother is of a different opinion on this but:
THAT ENDING WAS CHEAP AND STUPID AND I LOATHED IT
you kill off half the characters including ones with films we already know are yet to come out so we KNOW their deaths will never stick
it was cheap ploy and bad storytelling
You know that bit in breaking dawn 2 where they kill everyone in a huge fight but it turns out it's just a premonition Alice shows aro? THAT IS THE END OF INFINITY WAR
it would've made much more sense to kill of the original avengers imo - that way there was at least a chance their deaths would stick
but my brother thinks they've done this specifically so the og avengers will turn around and sacrifice themselves instead in part 2
which... I guess....
so my criticisms on that are partially on hold but I dont Like It
can't wait to see ten thousand metas about Steve watching Bucky disintegrate and then brushing his hand through the ashes
thor's new Phallic Imagery hammer is ridiculous and his whole side mission felt wasteful
there were so many logical fallacies in this movie I know I know, it's a superhero movie! Suspend disbelief! but you're telling me Thanos has the power to disintegrate a moon and he wouldn't just aim.the gauntlet at tony or the guardians and disintegrate THEM? and how can Wanda's power which is only a small offshoot of a stone destroy another stone? MAKES NO SENSE FAM
what is the soul stone's power even
the thanos fight scenes all had that brutal winter soldier intensity but the wakanda battle was wayyyyy too bloated
the captain marvel post credits scene was dumbbb lol
I kind of wanted it to be just Hawkeye and antman eating their breakfast
and then they turn to ash
I'm like 90% sure you wouldn't understand this film if you haven't seen like at least 10 other marvel ones before it lmao
The MCU Generation
So I’ve been thinking about Marvel a lot lately. Specifically Infinity War. And I have some Feelings™, so I just thought I’d share. This is probably going to be long and super inaccurate and cringe-y, I don’t mean to offend anyone, but I just wanted to get it out of my system. BTW there will be lots of spoilers.
Iron Man was released in 2008, and many people including me consider it the true beginning of the cultural phenomenon that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I was eight years old when it came out, man that makes me feel old. I didn’t really know much about/pay attention to/care about superheroes much at that point, but my dad liked those kinds of movies so I had watched things like the Tobey Maguire spider man movies and Christopher Nolan’s batman movies (the first two were out at that time). They didn’t really hold much interest for me at the time. Iron man rolled around and dad seemed excited about it, but it still just seemed like another comic movie that the family would maybe re-watch if it were on TV or something. No big deal, right? Well, time went on and I started to hear talk about a bigger story. Iron man 2 came out when I was 10, and introduced nick fury and Natasha Romanoff. Still, I paid little mind to the film besides casually enjoying it like any other decent action film. Then came Thor. One year later, we got the first taste of the universe outside of Tony Stark, and that universe was much larger than I had anticipated. Looking back, the first Thor movie was definitely not the best superhero film ever made, but it did a lot of things right. Most importantly, it set the stage for more heroes who quickly joined ranks. It’s at this point that I feel the MCU really started to gain traction, at least from what I was hearing. My eleven-year-old self was beginning to view this collection of movies as something with potential, something to get excited about. In that same year, Captain America: The First Avenger hit the big screen. This is where I became truly and totally hooked. I don’t know what did it, but something about the story, the characters, or the message seemed to grab my full attention. This was the movie that had me craving the next installment. It probably helped that at about twelve years old I was starting to enter the social media world, if only in small doses. I discovered Pinterest and quickly realized that other people around my age (maybe a few years older) were talking about these movies, interacting with each other, making jokes and edits and headcanons. If I wasn’t invested in the MCU characters before then, that changed rapidly. Seeing other people’s takes on what the heroes thought or did off camera, speculation about subtext relationships, comparisons and continuations of themes from the comics, all mushed together to bring me closer to this Story than I had ever been before. So I was ready for Avengers. The Big One. The superhero movie that did what no superhero movie had done before. It brought together a cast from multiple movies into one glorious world-saving group. By this point, everyone could see that this franchise would make an impact. It truly was an entire universe, and we had just touched on the surface of this super team potential. Fans were everywhere; people at school, on the street, in commercials had their favorite heroes’ logo somewhere on their clothing or bag. There had never been (or I maybe just never noticed) such a widely spread media infatuation.
Then came phase two. Iron man 3, Thor dark world, captain America winter soldier, guardians of the galaxy, age of Ultron, and ant man. These came out between my 13 and 16th birthdays. In my opinion (back then and now), none of these movies were quite up to par with those of phase one, but nostalgia may have already been clouding my judgement, even after just a few years. However, they did give us more characters to love, and also let us enjoy learning more about our old faves. I think this phase was Marvel kind of trying to find their footing in this huge undertaking they just opened up, trying to figure out how to write their stories now that they had to feel like they were in such a large universe?? I don’t know, it just feels like Phase One took place in a box the size of a fridge, and Phase Two now had to try (or at least start) to fill out an entire swimming pool. I was still excited with every new movie announcement and was happy to watch them, but after age of Ultron I feel like I lost a bit of steam. So much that I didn’t see Antman at all when it came out. It just didn’t seem worth it.
Phase Three. Civil War. I think this movie is the turning point for the MCU, into a much darker and somber tone. Inner conflicts among the avengers that have literally been boiling for years come to a head, we see so many characters in the same place, see their stories starting to turn in different directions from each other and we, as fans, are starting to get torn apart. Team Iron Man, Team Cap, and social media is stronger than ever, and more prevalent in my life. We don’t even get a solution at the end of the movie. It ends with both sides hurt, betrayed, and with no clue where to go from here, just like us viewers. It’s fair to say that I was re-invested in this universe once more. Though it hurt, I think Marvel needed to introduce some real, lasting damage to its characters. I feel like this movie took itself more seriously as well. That was 2016. After that, we got Dr. Strange, GotG volume two, Spiderman homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, and Black panther. While these movies were not perfect either, I think they got a lot closer to what marvel wanted to make their universe feel like. They know what they’re doing now, and we fans got some great new characters out of it, along with a fun new take on some old ones (I’m looking at you, Mr. Waititi). I do want to mention a couple little things about some of these. Spiderman was worrisome for me, because the character had had two separate franchises in the last decade or so. That’s a pretty quick turnover. Let it be known that my fears have been quelled, and Tom Holland is my true Spiderman. (Tobey will hold a special place in my heart though. Sorry Andrew, better luck next time). AND THEN. The sensation that was Black Panther. This was when I was really getting into social media; tumblr, youtube, deviantart, all that jazz. It is also when I started college, so imagine that absolute upheaval of perspective. This movie was so important for minorities, and it caused such a stir just as my life was turned 180 degrees on its head. I didn’t know what to think. But I loved it.
Everything was going good. Marvel was hitting its stride again, life was changing, and my mind was expanding and finding out things that I had never considered before. I was 18 years old.
Then it happened. The one everyone had been waiting for for several years. “The endgame.”
Infinity War.
Let me tell you what it was like when I sat down in the theater that cold spring day. I had heard whispered rumors. About loss, about death. I brushed them off as speculation, trying not to latch onto any spoilers. I wanted to be totally oblivious as to what was about to happen, so I could experience it as mine and only mine the first time. I sat down in that dark theater with my parents, brother, snacks, tissues, and blanket. Mind you, the tissues were for allergies that had been acting up the past few days. I never cried at movies. Never. The trailers played, my family and I whispered to each other about needing to keep an eye out for this or that film when it came out. Then the lights dropped to almost nothing. We settled in for the long haul as the Marvel logo began to play. You know the one, where it shows clips of the past movies, coming together to form the name of the company? Except this one said “MARVEL STUD10S.” Did you get that? There was a number 10 in the name. I was confused for a minute or so, until it dawned on me that the Marvel Cinematic Universe had been making movies for ten. years. More than half my life. I was still in elementary school when the first Iron Man came out. And now here I was, a year into college, about to watch characters that I had grown up with and come to love, in the movie that people were saying destroyed their souls. At that moment, I knew I was in trouble. I was right. Straight off the bat, we lost my favorite villain who really just needs a hug, one who really was instrumental in bringing the Avengers together in the first place. Loki Odinson, in his own words. Right up till the end, he was a trickster, but he loved his family. He and Heimdall were the first hard losses, though seeing all of Asgard torn to shreds was a wake-up call that no one was prepared for the utter destruction that had been avoided until this film. No more clean Disney kid-friendly-ness anymore. Throughout the movie, we got to see reunions, long-awaited meetings, even more characterization and growth (geez marvel, how did you even fit that in? This is the endgame movie? How are you still teaching us new things about these people?) torture, fighting. The tension to the final battle was mounting, and at some point it became clear to me that the Avengers would not be together when this threat arrived. And as anyone who has ever seen a horror movie can tell you, splitting up only leads to death. Now, here’s where my memory gets a little fuzzy. Things were happening so fast, switching from group to group of heroes trying desperately to stave off the destruction of everything we’ve ever known. Things are going wrong all over the place, no one knows where anyone else is or what they’re doing, people we love are fighting each other because they’ve never met before now. What I do remember is when we get to the fight on Titan. Half of the Guardians, Tony, Peter, Strange. Tensions are running high. When Thanos arrives, I have no Idea what’s about to happen. They start fighting, and we finally get a demonstration of some of the more amazing feats the Infinity Gauntlet can pull off. The upper hand swings back and forth so many times, but finally the heroes get their plan to work, they’ve got Thanos on the ground, the Gauntlet is almost off. And Quill… ruins it. What else can he do? He just found out that his love is dead. So he messes everything up. Thanos gets free, pummels everyone into the ground, and then… gets the stone. Strange gives up the stone, even though he swore he would let a child die before he would ever give up such a dangerous object. What the hell Strange???? Was my immediate reaction. I knew it had to be more than just some newfound compassion for these people he met a day ago (was it actually a day?? Has all of this only happened in one short day?) Obviously the doctor has a plan, but this still seems like the worst possible idea. Now to earth. We get some truly awesome moments here; Bucky and cap’s reunion, Shuri showing off her mad science skillz, epic fight moves against hordes of zombie lizards, Thor’s entrance, his little banter with Steve, “I am Groot” “I am Steve Rogers,” Scarlet Witch dropping in at the last second with that massive power move. Everything seems like it’s going ok, and then suddenly, its not. Everything drops so suddenly into Not OK Town that I can still feel the whiplash. People are scrambling to get to each other, calling for backup, getting knocked down and thrown around, and then Thanos makes his entrance. He practically wipes the floor with our remaining heroes. The only thing standing between the universe and total ruin is Wanda. I’ve been preparing for a scene like this the whole movie, but it didn’t hurt any less to finally see it. Vision begs Wanda to destroy the stone, to destroy him, we all know that she has to give in. That’s what heroes do. So she says goodbye to the man she loves and uses her power on him. Now I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’ve seen this scenario play out before. I’m expecting someone to get there at the last minute and just fricken’ knock Thanos out cold, or maybe discover that Shuri had enough time to basically detach the stone from Vision, even if it didn’t look like it. But no. Wanda destroys the mind stone and Vision actually dies at her hands. Even after all the death that’s already happened in this movie, I was still surprised and devastated.
But they couldn’t just end it like that, could they? Marvel Studios needs to drink every last drop of pain from their fans.
Thanos moves back the clock. He takes the stone. Vision’s sacrifice was in vain, Wanda had to watch her love die for nothing. Nothing that anyone did made a difference. Since Avengers came out in 2012, these characters have been fighting to keep this evil at bay, to protect the stones, even before they knew it. And now none of it matters. Because Thanos the Mad Titan has all the infinity stones. It’s all over in my mind, I wait for the quintessential Villain Laugh™, the gloating, and then whatever evil thing Thanos has planned. But wait! Thor to the rescue with his brand-new hammer-axe! My heart leaps as he skewers the big purple raisin. He gets his revenge for Loki, for Heimdall, for all of Asgard, for us. Except. except. “You should have gone for the head.”
Wait,
snap. .
.
. My body is rigid and I can only stare unblinking in confusion at the screen. What’s going on? What did you do? WHAT DID YOU DO? Thanos disappears. Everything is quiet. “Where did he go?” Steve asks in confusion, mirroring all of our thoughts exactly.
“Steve?”
We see Bucky walking towards us, and then he just…. Dissolves. Into dust. what’s going on what was that My mind is sluggish. I don’t understand.
Wakandan warriors disappear in the wake of the battle. T’challa tries to help Okoye up but then he’s gone. Groot. Wanda. Sam. Mantis, Drax, Quill, Strange.
And oh god.
“Mr. Stark? I don’t feel so good.”  Oh god no.  “I don’t know what’s happening, I don’t want to go, I don’t want to go, sir, please, I don’t want to go… I’m sorry.”
Gone.
Through this whole thing, it is silent. No music. Just emptiness, confusion, fear.
And that’s where we’re left. The audience is motionless. I do not cry at movies, but my throat is tight like a noose and my sleeves are soaked from wiping away tears.
Like all good Marvel fans, we remain still in our seats. I try to comprehend what just happened to me as the white credits scroll over a void and dramatic music accompanies them. We wait for our first end-credit scene. Instead, what we get is a fading of the music. Avengers: Infinity War shows from the center of the black screen, and a familiar melody plays. A few slow, simple notes on a piano. The triumphant theme of our heroes, earth’s mightiest protectors. It sounds lonely now. The last note plays, and the title dusts. And I almost scream.
If you’ve read this far, wow! Thank you for reading my absolute monstrosity of a garbage post! It’s been a few months now since Infinity War, and I’ve had time to think. What I figured out was this; when I’m older-old enough to be a parent myself-and looking back on my childhood, these are going to be the movies I remember like my dad remembers Star Wars. I was so lucky to be just the right age when this all started to enjoy every single one, and to remember experiencing them all for the first time. I was just the right age to forge a bond with the characters and their world. I think it was a special kind of bond that only occurs when you’re young but not too young, one that weaves webs of innocence and nostalgia through your most transformative years, and grows with you as you become a new person, and stays with you like a friend even as you see things so differently than when you first started out. What I’m trying to say is that I feel like I grew from child to adult just as the MCU did. We grew together. I don’t know if anyone my age feels the same, but these movies feel like the first big mainstream thing that really belongs to my generation. Like they came at the perfect time to shape me. It feels like they were made for me.
All MCU Films RANKED
Recently, I kind of got out of the fake fan box when I finally finished watching through the many MCU films I’d missed over the last ten years. And it was clear as I was going along that Marvel has definitely had its weak points, but its strong points made everything worth the watch. So here’s my list of all MCU films up to Infinity War ranked from worst to best! (I know Antman and the wasp came out on saturday but I’m a UK egg so I have to wait til fuckin august to get my insect content so guess I’ll die)
Disclaimer: My opinion will probably, definitely not be yours
Tumblr media
19. Iron Man 2 (2010)
Tumblr media
As much as I love pretty much all of the main cast, somehow this film falls completely flat for me. First off, as I mentioned in my other Marvel list, Whiplash is kind of just a terrible villain and his motives for doing anything he does during this film is mostly absent. Also, compared to how well structured the first Iron Man film’s narrative felt, the story for this instalment is messy and very difficult to keep track of. Instead of escaping terrorists and fighting a genuinely memorable villain, Tony instead spends this film going to board meetings and expos and for some reason at one point, a race in Monaco? And then he’s in the race? I’m just confused. Point is, they kinda fucked this one up.
18. The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Tumblr media
Thinking about it, this film isn’t terrible. It’s just a bit eh. At this point, Marvel were only just really finding their feet with these films and it’s notoriously difficult to make a decent Hulk film. So what really lets this film down is the fact that Norton doesn’t stick around and this film probably could’ve benefitted from Mark Ruffalo’s presence, most of the side characters are a little underdeveloped and the villain seems pointless until the last twenty minutes when he turns green and smashes shit. Much like the villain, the plot itself feels kind of slow until that last twenty minutes when shit gets smashed. So yeah, not awful, but doesn’t match up to the rest of them.
17. Iron Man 3 (2013)
Tumblr media
Iron Man 3 is another not-terrible film. It doesn’t have a bad villain, so the whole Mandarin twist isn’t why this is placed so low as I didn’t mind that really. It’s mostly the pacing and the story that messes this one up a little. As I mentioned in my villain list, there’s so many different subplots happening that it’s really difficult to pick up on the majority of what’s happening. For example, you’ve got the weird fire stuff that everyone’s worried about, Rhodey is the Iron Patriot, Killian turns up, there’s a terrorist, oh look this woman that Tony briefly had a thing with and now Tony’s crashed his suit and here’s a random child. There’s just so much they’ve tried to cram in that I got a bit lost watching this one. That said, it definitely isn’t a bad film, just needs a little bit off the top.
16. Thor (2011)
Tumblr media
Now we’re getting into the films I really like, so this is where ranking gets a bit more difficult. The thing about Thor is that it’s good. And that’s kind of it. It’s a perfectly good origin story that’s paced really well and offers enough humour and Thor hitting things with his hammer/fists to keep it all interesting. Plus, Loki’s introduction makes this all the more brilliant, as it kind of foreshadows him becoming a bit more evil in future. Well, you only know that if you stayed til the end because it only takes him about the length of some credits to bring himself back to life.
15. Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Tumblr media
I know, everyone hates this film and it should be in last place. But I kind of don’t hate it, and I also don’t get why everyone else does. Sure, it relies a bit too much on technobabble and a villain that’s no more compelling than most of the others from phase one, but the film has a genuinely full and interesting plot. Alongside that is the changed dynamic between Thor and Loki after the events of the first Avengers as he struggles to trust him and we see Thor seem to genuinely mature as a character. So in my mind, this film is pretty good.
14. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Tumblr media
Here’s another film that garnered a lot of hate. The additions of Scarlet Witch, Vision and (briefly) Quicksilver work very well and they seem to have interesting dynamics with the rest of the team. The final fight is pretty satisfying, the villain feels like a genuine menace, even if his character is a little uneven, sometimes opting to be overly serious android and other times the weird comic relief. In that sense, Ultron’s character does feel a bit odd, but that and the massively unneeded and very weird love plot between Bruce and Natasha (seriously I nearly turned this film off during that bar scene) are the only criticisms I really have of this film. It’s pretty decent.
13. Iron Man (2008)
Tumblr media
The one that started it all is very, very good and is also the only Iron Man film I really like. This one has everything a Marvel film needs; humour, a fair amount of explosions and a decent villain. The only reason this didn’t place higher is because, obviously being the first one, it’s a little by-the-numbers. But all that means is that future films took this formula and made it better.
12. The Avengers (2012)
Tumblr media
I know this one is normally higher and I still love it, don’t get me wrong. But it’s easy to forget that, at times, the pace of this film is a little bit slow. Like that New York fight at the end will always be amazing, but there’s a good chunk of the film where everyone is just kind of sitting around. Same goes for the first 20 odd minutes too. Overall, great film, but it’s the slightly uneven pace that keeps it from getting higher.
11. Ant-Man (2015)
Tumblr media
You could argue that this one is just a less good copy of Iron Man, especially in its very derivative villain. But what puts this film a bit higher for me was the pretty much untouched genre of blending a superhero film with a heist film. That’s a fuckin good idea and I’m very here for it, which is why I’m so mad that we aren’t getting the sequel for another month. The cast in this is brilliant too, especially Evangeline Lilly’s Hope (who I’m very excited to see kick arse in the cool wasp costume tbh)
10. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Tumblr media
Cap’s first solo outing makes for one of my favourite MCU origin stories and it’s also one of the most underrated. This film proved that superhero films could work in a period setting and that makes it even cooler. Plus, brilliant villain guest spots from Hugo Weaving and Toby Jones round off the film to make something that feels a lot more than the sum of its parts. Yeah, I enjoyed this one a lot.
9. Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Tumblr media
This is the first Marvel film that genuinely felt like it had lasting, important stakes. Seeing the Avengers fall apart with Zemo pulling the strings is fascinating to watch, as for the first time on a grand scale, we see genuine consequences for the actions of the heroes. The introductions of Spider-Man and Black Panther served to make this film much better. My only issue? That weird forced romance with Peggy’s cousin or whatever. That was just strange. Like, come on Cap, your boyfriend with the metal arm is gonna get jealous.
8. Spider-Man Homecoming (2017)
Tumblr media
This film did the unthinkable. It made me give a shit about Spider-Man. This isn’t to say that I ever disliked the character or that the other two played him badly, I’ve just never been particularly invested in his character. The pure bean that is Tom Holland changed this and now Spidey is one of my faves. This film knows that, if we’re really rebooting Spidey again, there’s stuff we do and don’t want to see. Uncle Ben dying and Peter being emo about his spider bite? We don’t want to see that again. A perfect blend of a superhero and a teen movie and a genuinely chilling villain from Michael Keaton? We bigly want to see that.
7. Doctor Strange (2016)
Tumblr media
While you could say that this borrows a little heavily from Iron Man’s origin story, it’s mostly the amazing visuals and interesting characters that place this one so highly. We see a genuine, if a little fast, journey in Strange’s character from arrogant know-it-all to magic robe guy. Plus, a good villain in Mads Mikkelson makes this one much better, so when the sequel inevitably comes, I think I’ll definitely be seeing it. The only thing this film lacks is a big finale, as everything seems to tie up a little too easily.
6. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Tumblr media
Almost the best sequel in the MCU, this films builds on the events of Cap’s first outing to deliver a sort of spy thriller. Again, I’m a big fan of the Marvel films that push the boundaries and branch out into different genres and it’s pretty clear that the experimentation in this film worked perfectly. It’s an intense spy film with some genuine emotion as we see Cap try his best to get through to his boyfriend. More like this pls.
5. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Tumblr media
I can’t tell you how much I love the Guardians (Kinda unrelated but Dave Bautista is at a comic con I’m going to in October. Fuck I’m excited for that). They brought a badly needed sense of genuine fun to a franchise that still felt a little bit too serious. With a perfect cast with good chemistry, a cool space setting with brilliant visuals and a narrative that keeps you hooked, the only thing keeping this film from being perfect is a slightly out of place villain.
4. Black Panther (2018)
Tumblr media
The rest of this top 5 all come very close to the top spot to the point where it was too difficult to rank them. Cultural significance aside (which is one of the many things that made this film brilliant), this film’s characters and storylines make a point of breaking away from the usual Marvel mould to make one of the best MCU films to date. In a rare feat that not many of these films do, every single side character in this film feels developed and necessary, which is why so many of them slotted so well into Infinity War (except Nakia for some reason. Really hoping she comes back for Avengers 4, unless she’s been Thanos’d I guess)
3. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Tumblr media
They pretty much perfected this one. Some people are saying this is a little gloomy, but that’s to be expected when purple Josh Brolin is trying to kill everyone. What stops this one from being too emo is the well-needed presence of the Guardians, but I could legit just gush about this film for ages so we’re moving on.
2. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Tumblr media
This film is miles, miles better than both of the other Thor films and pretty much everything else in the MCU. Taika Waititi does something that most other Marvel films really couldn't manage; it has a terrifying, brilliant villain and yet the whole film still maintains some of the best humour in the MCU. Guest spots from Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, Tessa Thompson and the director himself are all equally amazing and help make this film what it is. If we lose Thor in Avengers 4, I’m praying for Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie to take up the mantle.
1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Tumblr media
As I said, the top 4 were very, very close together, but Guardians 2 only just beats them all for me. It’s a pretty unpopular opinion, but I think this film took everything from the first and only made it better. In this instalment, we see some desperately needed development for each and every character, with the decision to make this film more character driven being one of its best aspects. Almost pitch perfect humour, an amazing villain, my favourite final fight in the whole of the MCU. Yondu’s heart-wrenching death. I swear if we lose any Guardians permanently in Avengers 4, I won’t be happy.
Just as I typed that last sentence, I had another idea for a Marvel list. Might do another one of what I think each surviving character from Infinity War’s role might be in the next one. Ooo.
Go treat urself.
endgame thoughts
full of spoilers, here be ya warning:
what the fuck. chile, this movie ran like the most moshed together fanfic i’ve ever read. i really wouldn’t be suprised if the writer looked at some fics for inspo bc this thing had plot points from like 4 different Infinity War fix-it fics and like 16 from other random MCU fics from across the years.
i think that for the sake of keeping the audience on its toes, the writers/producers/disney decided to cobble together the most outlandish ideas that came in the boardroom into one flick. I...honestly think I would have preferred to the most obvious plot line (all snapped souls trapped in the soul stone, everyone comes back when they get all the stones from thanos and resnap) to what this was.
A lot of the emotional stakes in to movie were lost to weird tone shifts for the sake of being funny or were just glossed over:
Fat Thor was super weird because it was introduced as a gag and I kept expecting him to cut his hair, lose the weight or something to visually indicate the gag was over and that Thor was moving out of his grief but then it never went away? Like he stayed fat, drunk, and slubby and it made me super uncomfortable. Not because he was those things but bc they would play it straight (Thor is acting like this because he’s in pain) and then the movie’d joke about it and then go back to playing it straight. Weird tonal whiplash.
Natasha being tossed over for the soul stone made me double pissed. I was pissed last movie when they did it to Gamora (wee, dad kills daughter for personal gain and no take backsies!) and then it got repeated!!! Like what the fuck! I mean, yes it could be taken as a character arc (self serving kgb spy gains autonomy, learns to dictate own objectives and goals, realizes others are greater than self, yada yada) but fuckin’ why??? Most character growth of Black Widow since Winter Soldier but then she gets thrown in the trash for good.
The tone of the movie was soooo strange. Like all the jokes, and then Thor straight murders Thanos. And then the tone straightens out until we get to Fat Thor and Balanced Hulk, where the movie decides it wants to try really hard to be funny. Then it goes sideways all through out the time travel sequence (some hits, some misses) until Thanos returns, where it gets super serious.
Plot problems:
Million diff plots, so little time. Not necessarily cohesive
It was nice to get throw backs to older movies and characters but a little too much time was spent on it. No one wants to spend 10 mins reminiscing ab fucking Thor 2.
Timey wimey issues. So killing your past self doesn’t result in your death? No time loop issues from past ppl coming into the present? Alrighty then.
Nebula’s 2 ppl in 1 body shit gave me a headache. Next!
Tony’s 5 year old kid. I accept the kid as necessary for legacy but I’m having a really hard time reconciling RDJ and Gwenyoth Paltrow’s old asses having baby kids in 2019.
So unsnapped ppl are just missing 5 years of their life? Why wouldn’t the snap bring them back to equal timing?
Big fight scene cool as shit but felt very fanficcy in a way that the last movie didn’t
not a plot problem but thor’s wig and body prosthetics looked very low budget for such an expensive movie
Setting up for the next phase:
Tony’s death was nice. I accept it.
Hawkeye’s useless ass can go back in the cellar
Nat’s death was unnecessary and pissed me offffff soooo muchhhhh, as previously discussed.
Antman always cute but where’s og wife and stepdad?
Hulk???? Literally do not remember
Thor is literally right back to Thor movie 1 Thor (including disappeared Loki) but thiccc
Spiderman, same as always
We stan for Danvers and her lesbian roller derby special haircut
Cap’s ending was a mess
Wielding the hammer was cool as shit but felt...fanficcy? Like why is his ass worthy now? He’s doing literally all the same things, minus fighting Tony
Sending him back to return the infinity stones was neat but all the stuff afterrrrr:
Peggy and Steve are really cute but Peggy has a wholllllleeee ass family with hubby and kids and she says fuck it bc Steve shows up looking pretty in the past? Maybe he shows up before hubby and kids, who knows.
Sam gets the cap mantle as passed on by Steve but fuck Bucky, guy he’s known forever and went fugitive for, and his suffering at the hands of Hydra, i guess.
Also telling your past self that Bucky’s alive so you’ll quit fighting: kinda gay
