#and decide ALL kids are like that. neither of my sisters were like that especially my middle sister

I love my mom but sometimes, for lack of a better way to put it, she acts like an entitled boomer. It's already a peeve of mine when people bitch about kids and what they're bitching about is kids doing completely normal, expected shit for kids to do but my mom takes it a step further and implies my nieces doing normal kid idiocy is like a personal failing and ok. Look, my youngest niece is rammy as hell this kid is a bowling ball and she's here to win, but she's seven. I expect seven year olds to be Like That and be empty head no thoughts until they break something, that's normal. No sense in getting pissed off at a seven year old for acting exactly the way you'd expect them to, but the thing that extra pisses me off is that instead of just making peace with this and teaching any of my nieces where they went wrong and how to fix it my mom just kind of expects literal children to be able to just get some verbal feedback and figure it out?? Like come on now, I have 2 siblings surely she should know zero kids are equipped to get not very useful feedback and figure out how to apply it to everything??
My oldest niece gets it the worst and every time my mom says shit about personal responsibility I want to roll my eyes so hard they pack their bags and go on a vacation to Hawaii because my niece is 12 (almost 13)- if she's not taking 'personal responsibility' then someone didn't teach her how to or at least not in a way that stuck and worked for her. It's actually the adults personal responsibility to teach a child how to develop emotional maturity, not for a kid to be grated about all the damn time like any 12 year old is equiped to be The Most Emotionally Mature Ever. Problem being my mom is NOT good at taking feedback on parenting so if I say anything I gotta wrap it up nice and sweet and make sure it comes off almost more like offering advice rather than criticism, which irritates me because "if your so pissed off about this behavior why don't you do something about it and NO not the only thing you've been trying for years and complaining doesn't work because fucking obviously why do I have to explain this to someone who surely knows far more about parenting than I would" is a lot easier than my methods that aren't working any better than my mom's.
#winters ramblings#the biggest problem is that when i HAVE pointed this out she points ME out. half the time i never even needed to be tokd what for#my susters did dumb sbit and i decided not to do that same dumb shit but like you cant take a particularly smart kid#and decide ALL kids are like that. neither of my sisters were like that especially my middle sister#so like why the hell am i being used as an example here lmao im not relevant in this case#my nieces are not weirdly smart emotionally like i was and id also like to point out HALF MY PARENTS WERE DYING#for nearly all of my childhood that i can remember. im pretty sure THATS what made me Like That. i just had am awareness most kids dont#because most kids arent as unlucky as i was to go through something so harrowing. my sisters also had shit but not like that#their shit i think made it hard for them to do relationship stuff whereas mine made me a snart kid and an extremely distrustful adult#still if youre mad a kid is acting A Fool its the ADULTS job to make sure that kid is bding taught ahat they need to know#in a way THEY understand and put to use. not repeating how YOU understand shit over and over again#my mom is great dont get me wrong but sometimes she does shit and i want to roll my eyes because its so stupid#kids do not naturally posess every adult skill in the book and actually will probably take their WHOLE livesto develop#so instead of being mad a seven year old rams shit around give that kid 80 billion reminders every time theyre rammy#not to do that. drop in an example where they brine so.#something they liked because nothing convinces kids to behave like being reminded that they actually like their stuff#and even then a million more things will break. thata how kids work#if i busted some shit being rammy then that would be that abd id clean it up. kids deserve the same courtesy

Part 4 Miscommunication
(Damien's POV)
Previous
School had started now and a new kid came to the academy today. A girl roughly his age but a little shorter. This girl was loud and obnoxious, gathering quite a crowd of friends on her first day. That was fine though, Damian didn't exactly want to have to talk to another brainless civilian. Though Grayson did say he needed to make more friends. Explaining that not having friends would blow his cover.
Before Damian decided what to do the girl who was just with a group of his classmates was now behind him, startling him. Startling Him. Damian had been trained by assassins, by his mother, father, and siblings to always be acutely aware of his surroundings yet this girl scared him? Damian needed to understand how.
The girl who introduced herself as Dani Nightingale giggled.
Damian: "You startled me"
Dani: "yeah I do that"
Their classmates are cheering no one has ever managed to sneak up on Damian and now this new girl has. Great this girl was now going to be another nuisance to him. Then the girl frowned at him and apologized softly before avoiding him for the rest of the day. Odd.
Damian also found that this girl was very smart. She was great at science, math, and knew so many languages that it was just impressive. She was odd.
Dani avoided Damian for the rest of the day. She fucked up, she fucked up big time, even if he doesn't show it she can still feel his emotions. She wants to fall in for the floor and disappear but she can't do that. So instead she decided to focus on the school day. Answering and doing as much as she can to avoid Damian. The boy she accidentally made hate her. She can't wait for today to be over. The end of the day rolled around and Danny was there to pick her up. Just as she ran up to Danny, Damian did the same. Damian got to Danny first.
Damian: "Todd, what are you doing here?"
Dani running into Danny and giving him a massive hug. "Danny!"
Danny (confused) "sorry kid, but I'm not whoever Todd is?"
Damian now also confused and looking closely at Danny because his brother was laughing and smiling and not normal. Then he looked at the scars on the man's arms and neck and mannerisms. That wasn't Jason but just looked like him, odd.
Dick and Tim now confused that Damian didn't come to the car, walk over and react the same way Damian did though more extreme. "Jason??"
Danny (sighing): "No my name's Danny. Nice to meet you" (looks at Tim) "or re-meet you, how was your debate thing or whatever? I assume that was why you were in a suit?"
Tim (confused before remembering the coffee shop) "oh! Um yeah everything went well"
Dick smiling while internally screaming about seeing someone who looked like a happy version of his brother. "It's nice to meet you too"
Both Nightingales feeling the turmoil and odd feeling from the 3 and decided. Nope! Not my circus not my monkeys even if he does maybe look like he belongs to that circus. Not his, nope, they have enough problems, whatever this family has is not also his.
Danny: "anyways we've got to go, I'm sure we'll see you around"
Danny left with Dani and went home with her neither aware of the tracker Damian had left on Dani.
----------------------------------------------------------
Danny and Elle having a normal night doing homework, having dinner together, all that jazz while being watched by Robin and RR who had now taken a special in this family. Especially after Tim could find almost nothing on any of the Nightingales past a few months ago when they came to Gotham or when their sister went to Stanford. They watch Danny put Elle to bed then begin tinkering with a side project (he is an engineer after all). They seemed normal but something still bugged the both of them about the Nightingales. Something was still off, they'd have to keep investigat- Danny pulled out the 2 trackers that were were placed on both him and Elle and sat them on the table in front of him. He knew about the trackers. Maybe he was a threat.
Danny had of course found the tracker on him immediately and decided to fuck around making it go absolutely everywhere far too quickly till he realized where the tracker was from. It was shaped as a bat of course it came from Batman and his spawn. SIGH he supposed he couldn't avoid the bats and birds if they were already tailing him, might as well try to make friends first. The fact that they were looking for them was only solidified when he found another on Elle's school bag. 1) how dare they put one on his little sister. 2) who the hell put it there?? Was it suit boy again? Or was it one of the others? He'd have to tell Elle to be careful around them from now on. He'll have to be more careful now. Welp might as well try to reverse engineer these trackers so he can make something to scramble them when those guys eventually try again. He and to at least protect Elle.
(Things I thought of but didn't know how to add it yet soo)
Dani goes by both Dani and Elle depending on if her brother is around. Its confusing when they're both being refused to as Danny after all.
Tim is going feral because he can't find anything on them, like they didn't exist before this summer.
Oracle is also going insane because her cameras can't pick the two up. Every time she tries to focus on them the camera feed glitches out till they're gone.
The next part will be about Jason getting caught with GIW because they think it's Danny (and Elle maybe.) Still writing.

♡𓂃 𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
𝐆𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆, christopher sturniolo & fem!reader.
episode summary: sleepovers with your cutie pie, energetic, & borderline insomniac boyfriend.
parental advisory & ratings: fluff galore + established relationship between reader and chris, slightly suggestive, some swearing, & chris being the professional yapper he is.
♥︎ ⋆ ͘. behind the scenes. NEW LAYOUT + first time writing headcanons, i swear i’m a matt girl but chris lately? yeah.
◌ sleepovers with this man in one word? chaotic.
◌ but it’s that fun kind of chaotic — though the sleepovers usually start off pretty tame at first, him being all giggly and excited when you arrive, immediately grabbing your bags as both head to his room, catching up with each others lives while he helps you unload your stuff.
◌ with that being said, you two would end up gossiping for what feels like hours. though he grew up with all brothers, he definitely got his interest in gossip from eavesdropping on his mom and her friends.
“wait, so he’s dating her and her sister?” chris looks at you with a surprised expression. his elbows are propped up on each side of his pillow as his nintendo switch remains in the middle, paused on some sort of mario level.
“yes, but get this,” you grab your iced tea from his nightstand and scoot closer towards him. “he’s also dating her best friend. the dude is totally sleeze but hey, are we surprised?”
◌ taking pictures for your insta photo dumps.
◌ baking together! a little tradition you two decided to make after the first few sleepovers. he always make sure to pick up baking mix and other crucial ingredients two days beforehand.
◌ even though it always ends up a disaster…
“fuck fuck fuck!” chris shouts as you both race down the hallway, clothes halfway falling off your bodies from the fun that was had not too long ago. you quickly grab a kitchen towel and start fanning the smoke detector before it goes off as chris opens the oven, a thick cloud of whispy gray smoke escaping from the center.
“what the hell are you two doing in here?” nick questions as he and matt waltz into the kitchen from the living room.
“yeah, and why do your clothes look like th…” matt chimes in, face soon flushing red as the realization hits him. “forget it.”
◌ take out is usually ordered after you two nearly burn the apartment complex down, followed up by some tv or a movie.
◌ and of course, he yaps through the whole thing. you do too, which leads to neither one of you paying attention to what’s actually going on in the episode or scene.
“i don’t remember this happening,” you mumble as you lay back against of one chris’s pillows. “isn’t he from euphoria?”
◌ video games video games video games. every time you come over, this man would swear up and down that he’ll “smoke your ass” in mario kart — but does he actually? nope!
◌ he’s actually the biggest sore loser on the planet.
◌ pulling pranks on matt, you and chris know better than to mess with nick after a certain hour while matt is a little more tame. one time, while you two were in the middle of prank calling him, chris accidentally blew his cover after sneezing mid convo.
◌ doing your night routine together; skin care, hair care, etc.
◌ and if you’re the type of girl to sleep with an emotional support / childhood stuffed animal and accidentally leave it behind, he’ll snatch one of matt’s stuffed animals out his room and hand to you.
“i know it’s not the same as yours but look, it’s still cute and cuddly right? like those squishy-marshmallowy things?”
◌ matt tiptoeing into chris’s room in the middle of the night to rightfully take back his animal-shaped belonging.
◌ lowkey? nick taking off guard pictures and videos of you two being idiots and posting them on his snap and insta stories.
◌ cuddles galore. kid is actually such a snuggle bunny like oh my gosh? always cuddled up into you no matter what — especially when he’s feeling sleepy. the Baby Boy energy would be at an all time high. you’d be yapping away about some sort of friend group drama, pausing mid story when you hear him lightly snoring with his head against your chest.
“…and that’s when i told her that she should just go with the guy she was talking to before. i don’t get it, but see if i was—are…you sleeping?”
“…huh…”

can you please right a lance stroll fic where they both love each other but don’t know it yet?
Blankets | Lance Stroll
Tumblr media
The season had ended, it was early December and as per tradition, your families were in their cabin in the mountains. It was a silly cliche, but over the years you’d grown to look forward to it, especially since Lance started his f1 career and you two would rarely get to relax together like you usually would. Having grown up around each other, you two were practically inseparable; falling into all the childhood best-friend categories you could find. You’d support his career as much as you could, cheering him on from home and sometimes the paddock- you two were seen so often together that at some point some dating rumors had sprung up too.
You had known Lance all your life, you two had spent most of your childhood together. He was almost two years older than you, which made you the youngest of the bunch and though Chloe always treated you like a little sister, hanging out with her wasn’t always an option because of the major age difference. Your families had been together for generations, your fathers being family friends since they were kids themselves too- the Strolovich family feeling like your own second home.
“Fires’ nice and warm outside.” Your mother commented, passing the lounge to reach the kitchen, “You two sure you wanna stay here in front of the TV?”
“Yeah, I’m not in the mood to hang out with my drunk father, that's your job.” You replied, eyes still plastered on the large screen in front of you.
“You both become the same person when you’re drunk y’know.” Lance mumbled, eyes not moving to look at your phony expression of betrayal.
You playfully shoved him away from you, only for him to bounce back and press his side against you again. You two were always close, having had very little physical boundaries around one another as you grew up. You’d had plenty of cozy moments, none of them meaning anything more than what they were to either one of you. Albeit, this proximity would look far more romantic than platonic to strangers, you two had learned to keep it reserved for private spaces, the last thing you needed were more rumors for Lance to have to deal with later.
Movie nights at the cabin were more than what the rest of your families had understood them to be. You could still recall how you two would bond over these nights, and how often you’d whisper secrets to each other in the blanket- secrets that neither of you would have the guts to share face-to-face. You had told Lance about your awful first kiss while some silly 90s’ comedy movie played, and he had told you about his first failed talking stage while you both rewatched Criminal Minds for the millionth time. These shared moments under the blanket and in front of the TV were sacred to the both of you, it was like a little safe space for any and all confessions, it was these moments which made your bond so inseparable; under the blankets, with the faint light of the television seeping through the fabric to illuminate the cozy space as the conversation was muffled from others by the blanket and the background noise- it was a weird tradition, but one which you both cherished.
You didn’t mind horror movies, or the genre in general, but perhaps binging a bunch with Lance late into the night in a cabin far from civilization wasn’t the best possible idea. So there you were now, afraid in your bed after having been forced by the instagram algorithm to continue your horror binge, alone in your room with all the curtains drawn out of the fear of a mountain creature. Your fear was irrational, you had no reason to be as scared as you were, but it still managed to keep you from falling asleep. You decided if you were going to be consumed by a horror beyond human comprehension, you might as well get a snack before doing so.
The walk downstairs to the kitchen was frightening enough, but now you could hear the wind a lot clearer now, and every breath that escaped you seemed to sound unlike your own, your own shadow frightening you with every surface that it fell on. As you began to eat the chips you and Lance had bought earlier, your mind managed to consume itself in more theories and possibilities- kidnapping, demonic possession, a gruesome death by the hands of a wendigo, could Slenderman be here somewhere?-
“What are you doing up?”
Those five words were enough for your brain to completely haywire, accepting all possible scenarios to be true all at once, your flight or fight response kicked in, making you scream and drop your chips. Not particularly fight or flight, but it was something, in the case of any of the terrifying scenarios you had pictured earlier to come true, this would have possibly been the last sign of you your family or friends would have heard.
“Jeez, why are you screaming?” Lance laughed, aware of how his efforts to spook you had worked out.
“Oh my God Lance, you nearly gave me a heart attack!” You scolded, shoving him in the arm.
Your hand was on your chest, feeling your heart pounding from the sudden burst of adrenaline.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t think you’d shit yourself.” Lance continued to laugh, clearly finding amusement in your reaction.
You rolled your eyes as you tried clearing up the little mess you made by dropping the chips on the floor; Lance stayed in the kitchen, wordlessly grabbing you a replacement and one for himself too. You two stood there, not saying a word, only looking at the remnants of the fireplace outside as you finished your snack.
“It’s really cold.” You mumbled, eyes on the burnt out logs.
“Hm? Yeah.” He replied, moving his eyes from the window and back to you.
The kitchen was dimly lit, with neither of you bothering to turn on any more lights than the countertop lighting that was already on. It was cozy, but for some reason the house was still cold despite the central heating. There was a dense silence between you two, your breathing being a silent acknowledgement of the other person, it was comfortable to be in someones’ presence and not feel the need to fill the space with words.
“I can’t sleep.” Lance sighed, breaking the silence and prompting you to turn around to face him instead of the window.
“What, you scared?” You asked, teasingly nudging him a bit.
His features looked enhanced in the dim light of the kitchen. You were never one to pay attention to how his face looked in different lighting, but the scarce light emitting from the below the cabinets and above the counters deepened his features; his brows almost seemed to cast a shadow over his dark eyes, making them seem black almost, the light shadows under his cheekbones and jaw seemed to be darkened in the sparse lighting- he almost looked intimidating to you for the first time. He didn’t seem like the pleasant and joyful friend you knew, but some serious and solemn man for a moment, only for a fleeting moment did you see that version- momentarily you quite literally saw him in a different light.
“Shut it, do you wanna go upstairs? You could hang out in my room for a bit.”
The moment passed faster than it had appeared, making you question whether it had ever appeared or not.
“Sure.”
Lance propped himself against the headboard, watching you as you sat across from him on the chair. The room was surprisingly cold too, was the heater not working or were you just cold?
“You never told me about that date you went on by the way.” Lance asked, putting his phone away from him; a gesture he did often to indicate his undivided attention was directed at you.
“Which one?” You asked, not recalling any dates in the past few weeks.
You brought your legs up on the chair, closer to your chest in order to prevent the cold you were feeling. His eyes followed your movement, tracing every bend and taking into account all of the little gestures you made, including the little hook your fingers made when you were confused.
“Y’know that stupid date your friend set you up with? The IT guy from the US?” Lance probed further, reminding you of an old date which you had successfully forgotten all about.
“Oh that’s old stuff.” You mumbled, arms wrapping around your knees.
“Yeah we haven’t really got a chance to sit down and talk for a while.”
“I guess…” You trailed off, distracted by the surprise you felt by how cold it was and how Lance seemed to just not care for it.
“So, the date?”
“Right, yeah no it went fine, but I don’t know he just wasn’t it.” You replied, shrugging and sparing him the details.
Lance pouted a bit, before adjusting his posture so he was lying down more than sitting up and patting the sheets next to him.
“Come on, you’re clearly freezing.” He noted, steering the conversation to a completely different route.
You didn’t think much of it, you two would sleep in the same bed plenty of times when you were kids, it wasn’t odd at all. Even now, when Lance would crash at your house he’d sleep in your bed next to you- it wasn’t odd it was just the comfort you two had with each other. So when you crawled under the sheets and scooted closer to Lance, the both of you ignored the way your eyes locked for a moment.
“So, what was wrong with him? What made him not it?”
Aversion. That’s what one would call it; he averted his eyes and changed the topic, that moment where your eyes locked as you moved closer to him under his sheets in his bed was nothing but a fleeting moment.
“I don’t know Lance, he just wasn’t my type.”
“I thought you said you didn’t have a type.”
“I don’t… it’s just that I guess I hate having to get to know people romantically, it just seems like such a bother. Plus, remember the hell I had to be put through the last time that happened?”
Your ex wasn’t the peachiest person imaginable; he was manipulative and constantly accusing you of having a more complex relationship with Lance than you would admit to. “You two look at each other like nothing else matters, you don’t even look at me like that!”, accompanied often with several “There’s no way you two are just friends!”. His words hadn’t affected the friendship you had with Lance, obviously, but it did put a damper on the amount of time you two would spend with each other. In the end it truly wasn’t worth it considering he cheated on you with his own best friend.
“God, he was a dick.” Lance mumbled, scooting lower on his bed and completely lying down, bringing the blanket up till his neck.
“Yeah, getting cheated on isn’t fun.” You mumbled, covering your face with the blanket; not because you were ashamed or wanted to hide your face, but because you were cold and your nose felt like it was going to freeze.
“Oh my god, how cold are you?” Lance asked, accompanying you under the blankets, swatting them a bit so the thick material wouldn’t hide your face from him. He reached over to grab your hand, only to let out a small yelp after feeling how cold they were. “Woah, you’re fucking freezing.”
“Yeah, I don’t know why I’m this cold.” You replied.
There wasn’t much need to ask or say anything, words weren’t a necessity in communication between you two sometimes. He just knew you well enough to know what you’d need and you knew the same, and so he covered the distance, and wrapped his arms around you, enveloping you in a warm hug.
Several moments had passed and though you were still feeling cold, his body heat had managed to warm you up enough for it to not be a problem. As an unspoken token of appreciation, you had begun gently rubbing your fingertips on his scalp, something you knew he liked.
“Do you remember when we were teens and we’d sneak into each other's rooms like this and watch all the shows we weren’t allowed to watch?” Lance whispered, not needing to talk at a higher volume due to the proximity.
“We used to sneak into each others’ rooms all the time, remember that annoying nanny our parents would bring along? That old lady who was convinced we were up to no good?” You laughed, remembering how often she’d complain to your parents about your antics and how Lance wasn’t a good influence on a young girl like you.
“Oh God, she was the worst. She used to be on your ass about everything, she always said you weren’t proper enough.”
“Ooh ooh, remember when we managed to sneak out with Chloe and go to that party with her friends in the summer?” You chimed, remembering something completely off-topic.
“Yeah, that time her friends forced us to kiss in that stupid truth or dare game, I swear I told your dumbass to sit next to me but you just had to sit next to that stupid guy.” Lance scoffed.
“Oh my God yeah, that was my first kiss.” You replied, recalling how flushed you were and how glad you were now to have that memory be with someone like Lance and not with some weird, much older guy.
“Wait, really?! I thought that was just something you were messing about!” He pulled away to look at you better.
“No! Why would I lie about that?!” You asked, pulling away from his chest a little too, craning your neck to look at his face.
“I…. I don’t know.” Lance replied after thinking for a while, pulling you back into his chest to avoid having to look you in the eye, “I guess I didn’t want to believe that your first kiss was with me.”
“Why not?” You asked, the question laced with confusion and several different emotions you couldn’t identify, “I never told you about my first kiss, I always thought you knew it was you.”
A silence fell between you two, a sort of uncomfortable silence which made your hand stop stroking his hair, and made his grip on you loosen a bit. The cold hit again and though Lance was still close, it just didn’t seem like enough; for the first time in your life-long friendship you felt like a wedge had made its’ way in a moments’ notice, drawing you two apart.
You had told him the night it had happened, on the way back to your house, you leaned in and told him that he was your first kiss. It was the earliest stages of his racing career, just a little before he debuted in F4. It was so long ago, you had forgotten about it, it really was just a silly little dare, but now you felt like you’d imposed a boundary you didn’t know existed.
The silence between you two had lasted longer than either of you would prefer, yet neither of you had mustered the courage to disrupt this silence, hiding behind it from one another like you had never done before. The cold began to make its presence known to you once again, the blanket not providing much comfort any longer.
He had never given it much thought, it really wasn’t a big deal and he wasn’t upset, rather just confused. He had been looking forward to this family vacation more than he usually would, and until he saw and hugged you, he couldn't seem to figure out why. You were his best-friend and as cliche and silly as the title sounded, he couldn’t ever just call you a friend, you were so much more than that, yet whenever anyone called you his sister he’d just end up feeling uncomfortable; he’d never seen you in that light, the thought was just weird. Realizing that he was your first kiss made him feel something he had previously averted from a few moments ago, except now, aversion wasn’t something he could do- it wasn’t something he wanted to do. He understood the reason that he hadn’t consciously accepted the fact that he was your first kiss was because he knew he liked the idea far more than he should have; he liked that he was your first kiss and he liked the idea of having that card over all the other men you had dated, he liked that you two had shared that sentiment, he liked that he was your first and most importantly: he liked the idea of kissing you.
The situation felt awkward and you mentally decided it would be better off to just go back to your room, and so you did, quietly moving out of his bed and making your way to your own room. You had gone as far as tucking yourself in till your thoughts finally started piling on.
What if I pissed him off? Why did he get so quiet? Did I fuck things over? God, how did I manage to mess up the one friendship I thought would last forever? Why does it matter, we’re just friends and the idea of us kissing shouldn’t ruin a life-long friendship, should it? Unless he has another girlfriend again, God I really don’t want to have to go through that again, Wait, why not? It shouldn’t matter if he dates someone, right? I mean I haven’t been the biggest fan of his exes but who am I to-
Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard the door to your room open, followed by shuffled footsteps and a weight on your bed. You turned to make out what you correctly assumed to be Lance, crawling under the blanket with you. You heard a huff of breath as he got comfortable, wrapping his warm arms around you again and pulling you into him once more.
You were confused momentarily, not having been able to completely exit your mind palace before you had to register all that happened. However, it only took you a few moments to adjust before you hugged him back, adjusting yourself against him slightly before fitting perfectly into his arms.
“Do you remember how we’d sit under the blanket and cover ourselves completely in our blanket forts to talk in private when we were younger?” Lance asked, his smile almost audible in his words as he recalled the memory, not addressing the conversation earlier.
“Yeah,” You chuckled, “We’d call for ‘blanket meetings’ and all….”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m kind of calling for one right now.” He said, pulling away slightly, preparing to hold the blanket over your heads.
You didn’t need to say anything, you smiled as you grabbed your phone and sat up, adjusting yourself under the blanket as Lance sat up too, the blanket forming a little tent around you two as his head held it in place. It took a little more shuffling around till you both were completely covered and comfortable and it was then when you pulled out your phone, turning on the flash and placing it in between you two so you could see each other. Having done this your whole lives, you two knew exactly what to do.
“God, the blankets seemed so much bigger when we were kids.” You laughed.
“The blankets were always big on you, pipsqueak.” Lance laughed.
“Oh, fuck off.” You laughed, “Alright, so why did you call this meeting?”
“Oooh, professional.” Lance laughed, locking eyes with you as his laugh faded.
“If it’s about our conversation earlier, then I don’t really wanna talk about that, can we just go back to pretending that that never happened?” You asked, eyes averting his.
“No, we can’t. I don’t want to pretend like that didn’t happen, if anything I’m really glad you had your first kiss with me, I’m a much better option than that creep you thought was cute, if anything I was the best option in that whole party.” Lance spoke, voice hushed to match the vibe.
“I mean yeah… Wait, did you just say you were the best option? You know my ex was there too, right? I mean sure we dated after years but we met for the first time at that stupid party.” You recalled, ready to contradict his statement, unsure of what your argument would be considering your ex was awful.
“Yeah, I stand by what I said.” Lance spoke, a determination present in his voice. “You know how I felt about that loser anyways.”
“Oh please, you never seemed to like any of the exes I have.” You scoffed.
“Like you like any of mine.” Lance scoffed in return, eyes still looking into yours despite your attempts at looking away.
“I mean-” You tried to defend yourself when he cut you off.
“Oh come on, you know we don’t like any of each other's exes.” Lance persisted.
“I mean yeah, but I don’t like them because I think you deserve better.” You replied, content with your argument.
There was a moment of silence before Lance spoke and in that moment you watched his face as he thought, the way his brows momentarily furrowed and how his brown doe-eyes looked into yours, not breaking contact and making you more nervous than you had anticipated.
“Well, I thought the same, y'know, I kept comparing them to me and how I’d treat you so much better than those losers.”
His statement was calculated, and you could tell. It had completely thrown you off and confused you beyond expression, it left you dumbfounded and staring at him with your mouth open to say words you knew didn’t exist.
“Come onn, You never thought about it? You’re telling me you didn’t think about the kiss all the time after it happened?” He probed, examining your face for a clearer answer.
To be fair, the second Lance had found out the kiss you shared was your first, a whole barrage of feelings and thoughts had bombarded his mind and he had no idea what to do or say, so when you walked off he barely registered what happened and when he did, he decided to resort to old tactics to talk to you and try to comfort you. Admittedly, Lance knew he should have understood that something was up when he realized that he didn’t hate the dating rumors between you two, nor did he hate the proximity you shared, if anything, Lance looked forward to these holiday retreats with your family because it meant you two could live together for a few days and he loved that- he also loved how close you two were and how in all honesty he truly wouldn’t want to date anyone but you. The realization that he had been comparing all his past relationships with you and why they’d never work out wasn’t something he had expected to come to so abruptly, yet here he was, risking everything for a whim.
“I don’t know about you, but I don’t want that to be our last kiss.” Lance smiled, hoping that this last statement would break the silent oath you seemed to have taken.
He leaned in closer, looking at you for a response, which you gave in the form of a small nod, before he gently landed his lips onto yours, holding your face as the blankets around you readjusted to the movement. His hold was gentle, like he was scared he’d hurt you or something, while your lips clumsily, eventually found a rhythm.
You were bright red when you two pulled away for air. You mentally cursed yourself for turning the flash on. The prospect of you two being more than friends always seemed like a crazy thought, it always felt like something you felt wrong thinking about, like you weren’t allowed or something. But kudos to Lance for somehow always managing to understand what you two needed faster than you, whether it was making road-trip decisions or Tim Hortons’ order decisions, credit where credit was due, that man could read you like a book. And now he had made it apparent that he was capable of reading in between the lines too. You never knew you had wanted Lance more than a friend and now that the option was brought to your notice, you couldn’t, even for a moment, consider giving it up. The kiss hadn’t lasted long, but it had erupted feelings in you that had laid dormant for far too many years, all of which overwhelmed you enough to not think of your decision again before crashing your lips back onto his, this time allowing your hands to find the back of his head to push him into the kiss, which he enthusiastically reciprocated, his hands landing on your waist to pull your whole body closer. Suddenly, air didn’t seem like much of a necessity as the kiss deepened and you two got more comfortable against each others’ lips. It wasn’t till you two pulled away again, locking gazes as your chests heaved against each other, stupid grins adorning both of your faces.
“Why didn’t we come to this realization earlier?” You asked.
“I don’t know… I’m just glad we came to it, better late than never no?” He laughed.
Now you didn’t feel so guilty admiring the way his face scrunched up when he laughed and how the skin around his nose crinkled and how you could see the slight gap between his side teeth and his front teeth. There was so much about him that you had mentally noted and admired that seeing him this close didn’t even feel like anything new- it was just Lance after all.
“I still can’t believe I was your first kiss and we still didn’t do anything up till now.” Lance smiled, his lips parting to show his teeth.
“I mean, I don’t know I didn’t really understand what I was feeling till now I guess.” You mumbled through a smile, lips barely moving to get the words out.
“I know, I think we’re on the same page.” Lance replied, pulling you in for a hug, the blanket finally beginning to feel warm again.
“I want you to be my last too.” You laughed, wondering if he’d get the reference.
“Seriously? You’re quoting one direction right now?” Lance asked, exhaling as he felt your body against him, warming him from the cold he hadn’t even realized he was feeling.
“Always the right time to quote One Direction.” You laughed, knowing you were the reason he’d secretly be listening to them now.
“That reference barely made any sense y’know, technically they talk about wanting to be the listeners last first kiss, not their first and last kiss.” He corrected you with a cocky grin you could practically hear.
“Anndd you ruined the moment.”
“You’re welcome.”

See Me - Eddie Roundtree x FReader
Tumblr media
Summary: You had spent your whole life trying to prove yourself, to be seen. Living in the shadows of your brothers was exhausting, but you fought to make a name for yourself. So, how could not fall for the only person who saw you no matter what?
You had always been Billy and Graham’s little sister to everyone. It didn’t even make sense because you and Graham were twins, but you were still always considered to just be somebody’s something. You were never known as just you.
When you were a kid, you were mildly annoyed by your afterthought status, but you expected the feeling to fade with age. It didn’t. It was only made worse when The Dunne Brothers formed.
Did Billy and Graham ever ask their own sister if she wanted to join the band? Of course not. You didn’t play any instruments, but you had talked about wanting to learn before. It kind of hurt how little attention they paid to you.
Instead of let it drive you crazy, you decided to use it. You were going to make them see you, and then maybe it would feel like they gave a shit. You were even lucky enough to have the perfect opportunity open up.
You could tell Chuck was flaking. He wasn’t serious about the band like the others. So, you took up bass guitar in secret. You were earning your spot in the band once he left, because you could very obviously tell he was leaving.
Sure enough, right before the band was leaving for LA, Chuck told them he was done. You walked out in the driveway to find the remaining band members looking absolutely pissed.
“What’s going on?” You put a hand on Graham’s shoulder to catch his attention.
Billy beat him to an answer. “Chuck quit. Now we’re out a bass player.”
“The fuck are we going to do, man?” Graham looked over at him.
“I don’t know, Eddie can switch to bass for us.” Billy spat out.
You glanced over in time to see a flash of anger in Eddie’s eyes. He didn’t want that, and frankly, neither did you.
It was now or never. “Let me do it.”
“You play, little Dunne?” Warren asked.
“Yes,” You assured him at the same time Billy and Graham let out a sure “no”.
Your brothers turned to you in surprise the second the words left your mouth.
“Since when do you play?” Graham gave you a suspicious look.
“Long enough to be better than Chuck.” You folded your arms and looked between him and Billy sternly. “Will you give me a chance to prove it?”
Everyone turned to Billy as he turned to you.
“Fine, yeah, let’s hear what you got.”
You played one song for them and the vote to let you in was unanimous.
————————
There was nothing quite as exciting as the feeling when you all arrived in LA. The night after you arrived, you all partied hard. Sure, you all didn’t know what you were doing or how you were going to make it, but you took a huge leap and that called for celebration in your eyes.
“Hey, I never got to thank you.” Eddie handed you a beer as he took the seat next to yours.
You thanked him and took a swig. “Thanked me for what?”
“You saved my ass before we left. I like where I am, I never wanted to be a bass player. Besides, you’re way better at it than I am. You could kick anyone’s ass at bass.”
You chuckled at him. “Well, I don’t know about that.”
“No, I’m serious. We should’ve kicked Chuck out when he started skipping practices ages ago.”
A genuine smile grew on your face. No one has ever complimented you this much before. Especially not someone you barely knew. Eddie hung out with Graham, the most you’d really talked was small conversations in passing.
“Thanks, Eddie. I really appreciate that.”
He gave you a smile in return and you felt a flutter, an honest-to-God, romance movie flutter. That was not good. You couldn’t fall for someone in the band, things would blow up if it didn’t work out.
You excused yourself and went to find Camila. She might’ve been Billy’s girlfriend, but she had quickly become your best friend.
“Hey Cam, come get another drink with me?” You put a hand on her arm.
She turned to you and nodded. “Yeah, sure.” You led her back inside and went immediately to the fridge. “More beer or should we open a bottle of wine? Fair warning, it’s super cheap and super shitty, but it’ll do the trick.”
“How about you tell me what happened with Eddie out there first?” She gave you a sly look.
You closed the fridge and whirled around. “What? Nothing happened!”
“Oh there was definitely a moment. I saw some looks over there.” She poked you.
“He was just being nice about me joining the band. That’s it. Nothing more.” You held up your hands defensively.
“Why not? Eddie’s a good guy.”
“I just got in the band, I’m not complicating things with that. Besides, we’ve barely ever talked before. I don’t even think you could call us friends yet. The most important thing right now is figuring out how to actually get famous out here.”
Camila considered your words for a second and shrugged. “I guess you have a point there. And I wouldn’t worry about you all making it, I have faith in this.” She looped an arm through yours. “Now, let’s go get drunk off our asses on this cheap wine.”
————————
After that night, you found yourself acutely aware of everything Eddie did and it frustrated you to no end. Every time he glanced at you in practice, every compliment he gave you, every little gesture he did. The last thing you wanted to do was develop feelings for Eddie, but it looked like it was maybe too late for that.
Y/N: To make matters worse, Camila had definitely not done what I asked and liked to play the subtle matchmaker. She thought I didn’t notice, but she was pretty obvious about it.
Camila: So maybe I tried to get them together, is that so bad? Y/N was skeptical, but I knew it wouldn’t blow up like she thought. Besides, I’ve known them almost my entire life, and they deserve to be happy.
“Hey, would you mind grabbing some ice from the kitchen?” Camila called out as she arranged some plates of food on the table.
It was Julia’s first birthday, and you and Cam decided to plan a little gathering for it. Just the band was there, it wasn’t anything huge.
“Yeah, of course.” You dusted off your hands as you finished setting up a folding table.
“Great! Eddie, go help her.”
You didn’t even have time to shoot Camila a glare before he nodded and started toward you. Instead you mouthed not funny at her as soon as Eddie couldn’t see. She gave you a smug grin and mouthed you’re welcome.
You followed Eddie into the kitchen, nervousness faintly tingling in your veins. This man had entirely too much power over you. You had tried everything to get him off your mind, and it would work for a little, but then he would tell you he liked that little riff you threw into that song or he’d bring you your favorite drink after you and Billy had an argument over some stupid thing at the studio and you would turn all mushy again. You had come to realize that he understood what it felt like to be overlooked and maybe that was why you felt a weird connection with him.
“You seen the cooler?” Eddie asked, bringing your attention back to the moment.
You glanced around. “Yeah, it’s up there on top of the fridge. One second.”
As you stood on your tiptoes to reach for the cooler, you were realizing that you weren’t going to be able to reach it. Then you felt the ghost of warmth behind you.
“Here, I can help with that.” Eddie’s smooth voice murmured above you.
Instantly, you felt your face flame. God, you hadn’t behaved like this since you were thirteen. It was more than a little embarrassing and you sure as hell weren’t about to let him see you like that. As soon as Eddie snatched the cooler and stepped away, you put distance between the two of you.
“I’m going to go see if Cam needs any more help, you got this from here?” You blurted as you made for the back door.
“Wait!” Eddie grabbed your wrist gently. You flinched out of surprise, but he immediately dropped your hand. “Sorry, sorry, I just wanted to talk.”
“No, it’s fine, uh, what’s up?” You put on an entirely forced smile.
Eddie folded his arms and gave you an earnest look. “Did I do something?”
“No,” your brows furrowed. “Why?”
“You avoid me all the time. I don’t know if I pissed you off at some point, but you act like I’ve got the fucking plague or like you want nothing to do with me.”
It stung a little bit. He seemed genuinely hurt, and you never wanted to do that. “No! It’s not you, Eddie. You haven’t done anything wrong, I swear.”
“Then what’s wrong? It’s bad enough being in a band with one Dunne that can’t stand me, I don’t know if I can handle two Dunnes acting like that.” Eddie threw his hands up in frustration.
You closed your eyes and sighed. “Eddie, I promise I don’t have a problem with you.”
He took a step closer to you. “Then why do you act like you do?”
His tone was becoming more and more irritated, and the insistence was starting to annoy you too. He was going to make you say it, wasn’t he? But honestly, maybe you should’ve just told him. It had been well over a year of pining. If continuing to act like this was going to cause a fight, maybe it would be less chaotic to tell him and see what happens. Things couldn’t keep going the way they were, regardless.
“You really want to know why?”
He nodded. “Please.”
You took a breath and looked him directly in the eyes. “I like you, okay? And I don’t want to like you because liking people in your band doesn’t usually work out well, but it’s been too fucking long and I can’t stop feeling like this so I avoid you.”
Eddie let out a dark chuckle. “That’s it? You’ve been ignoring me all this time because you like me?”
“Yeah, I have. And don’t act like that’s so wild. My reasons make sense. It’s not stupid.” You practically spat the words.
There were lots of ways you had envisioned this possibly going, but you never thought he’d be this angry. You didn’t think he’d be angry at all. Awkward maybe, but not pissed.
“It is stupid, actually.”
Your head snapped toward him. “I’m sorry, what?”
Eddie stepped closer again. “I said that’s actually pretty fucking stupid.”
“Eddie, I swear to God, if you-”
Eddie crashed his lips against yours before you could say another word. Your shock wore off after a moment and you were able to kiss him back like you’d wanted to for so long. The two of you broke apart after what felt like a small eternity, panting and grinning.
“Graham owes me $20.” Warren chuckled from the doorway.
Both of you jumped apart and were met with Warren’s pleased face.
“How long have been there, Warren?” You stammered.
“Long enough, Little Dunne. Long enough.”
You pointed a finger at him. “Keep it to yourself, or you lose nickname privileges.”
“We already know!” A voice called from outside. Karen.
You rolled your eyes. You kind of hated your friends sometimes, but you also kind of loved the infuriating little shits.
“Whatever, let’s just get the ice back out there.” You shook your head with a laugh.
Eddie grabbed the cooler with one hand and your hand with the other, and you had to admit, you felt way less scared of the possibility of dating a bandmate.
————————
Y/N and Eddie Roundtree got married a year after Daisy Jones and The Six broke up. They currently work together producing music and are still located in LA. Their daughter and son already have a huge love of music, and are rumored to be starting a band of their own.

Hear me out: price who has mom! Reader next door who's dealing with all these handyman tasks herself and eventually he goes over and asks her if she wants help, cue a cute conversation as they fit her house up together and her kid(s) loving him and oh my goshhhj
hi!! Thank you for requesting this I love this with price, I tried my hardest to write this and hope you enjoy!! (also I decided to do a both son and daughter so there could be a bit of both hope that's okay!!)
Tumblr media
prompt- Price with next door neighbor Mom!reader needing some help with work around the house.
You had recently moved into your new home with your kids, it was a bit run down but being a single mom in today's economy was not easy. On your first day there you met your neighbor, He induced himself as John but said everyone called him Price. He was kind enough to help you move some of your boxes in while your kids were running around in the backyard. Once you had finished moving everything inside you offered him some tea which he immediately accepted, you both sat down on the front porch as he began telling you about local places to go to “Yeah, there's a place right down the road that has probably the best food around here, the grocery store is also just a couple blocks away” you smiled at him replying “Thank you, for the advice and also helping me with all the boxes, your too kind” he smirked before saying “Its really no problem, love” a light pink started to make its way across your cheeks as you both sat in silence staring at the sky, that was until your kids decided to run into the front yard playing some form of tag, you let out a soft sigh before yelling out “Kids! Come say thank you to the nice neighbor that helped us.” your kids ran over before looking Price up and down and saying in unison “Thank you Mr. Neighbor sir”, Price let out a small laugh Before saying “No problem kids, your mom made it worth the work” you kids then both started ooing before running off.
in the following weeks, Price had joined your family for countless dinners, that was until Your water heater broke, You had tried fixing it when your son said “I'm going to play outside” before grabbing his younger sister and running out the front door you followed with a yell saying “Be careful! Don't go in the road” before slamming the tool you had in your hand down and putting your head in your knees. You had zero clue about fixing a lot of things, especially an old water heater the past tenants never replaced.
Little did you know your two kids had run over to your next-door neighbor's house knocking on the door when price answered your kids immediately started rambling about how you needed help fixing something. Price went to go get his tool bag before following the kids into your basement when they reached you, you had made zero progress and had probably made it worse than before. Price spoke out saying “Looks like you need some help there love, why don't you kids go play for a while I'll stay and help your mom out.” The kids nodded their heads and thanked him before running off, You sighed saying “I'm sorry I had no clue they went to go bother you…” he replied, “Nonsense, they never a bother neither are you.” Before working on the water heater, After a shirt twenty minutes he had your water heater up again to which you profusely thanked him. After a while You had dinner ready and of course invited Price to stay for “payment” knowing you would've had him either way, You called your kids inside and instructed them to wash their hands, as they did your daughter stated “You got the hot water working already?!” running up and hugging price thanking him for helping her mom, he smiled and hugged back. You could get used to having him help You.
I loved writing this, it’s pretty short, I apologize but I hope you like it anyway! thank you again for requesting and I’d love to get more from you in the future!

Sister, Sister: After the End
When Eliza invites the entire family to Midvale over Easter weekend, none of them offer a single squeak of protest. It's been a long few weeks of working on their own endeavors, with only infrequent, hectic teamups between them.
It's nice, Lena decides after dinner the first night. The warmth, the easy familiarity that sinks in as though it never left. But even so, she's grateful for a spare moment to snag a blanket and go out to the dunes, where waves crash steadily against the quiet of darkness.
She spreads the blanket out and lays back, folding her hands over her ribcage. Her magic fills her these days, and she can feel the power of the ocean tugging at her, as though inviting her to join its current. She can also feel the shifting energy of the sand beneath the blanket, and the sway of the reeds that obscure her from the view of the house.
She's not too difficult to find though, as footsteps whisper through the sand towards her. Lena closes her eyes, biting the smidge of irritation that creeps up on her unexpectedly.
"I'm fine," she issues pre-emptively. Kara settles down on the blanket next to her.
"Didn't think you weren't."
Lena's eyes snap open as her head whips towards Nia's voice. Not Kara.
She huffs a laugh. "Sorry," she offers readily. "Thought you were someone else."
"Mhmm," Nia returns. "Considering she's the only one able to get hold of you these days."
Lena grimaces. "I know, I'm sorry--"
"Me too," Nia assures her of no hard feelings. "I could have done more to make it happen. It's just been..."
"Busy."
"Yeah. It's a little crazy to think about, you know? I'm doing more as Dreamer for the foundation than I am as a crime fighter or whatever. And you're back to being on top--"
Lena scoffs a laugh that turns into a giggle as she turns her head to look at Nia. It takes a moment to click.
"Oh--! Lena! You know that's not what I meant!"
The light smack to Lena's ribcage only earns a throatier laugh. Nia joins in with a giggle of her own, and they laugh for a long moment before calming.
"I know what you mean," Lena concedes after a heavy sigh, returning to the moment. "The foundation is everything I hoped it would be, but--"
"It's different." Nia turns her head, and Lena echoes the movement to meet her gaze.
She nods. "Yeah. As much as I don't miss the entire world being in peril..."
"You miss how it was." Nia's voice is quiet. "Even if it's better now."
"Yeah."
They stare up at the stars for a long quiet moment. The sky is clear tonight, and the Milky Way spreads out before them in a wide, untouchable ribbon. A wave of nostalgia overwhelms Lena, and not just for the good old days. Sudden tears burn at her eyes.
"I miss my mom," she whispers.
Nia doesn't turn, but pats across Lena's hip until Lena reaches down to clasp the questing hand.
"Me too," Nia returns softly. Her next words curl with a gentle smile. "They'd be so proud of us though."
Lena chokes out a bit of a chuckle, which mostly sounds like she's being strangled. "Yeah." She squeezes Nia's hand. "She would have really liked you."
"Oh my gosh, are you kidding?!" Nia's voice lifts. "My mom would have gushed over you! Especially now with the whole earthy, witchy vibe you have going on these days. She'd love that."
Lena grins. "Could you imagine if they'd had the chance to meet?"
"Oh god." Nia covers her eyes with her free hand. "Inseparable. No embarassing childhood memory would be safe..."
Lena laughs, truly, as though she actually had memories with her mother to be embarassed by. In this fictional world they've created, she would.
"Hey." Lena catches Nia's gaze, and offers a wide smile. "I'm proud of you too."
Nia's lips pinch tight, her eyes sparkling in the moonlight. All she can manage is a trembling nod, and a firm squeeze on Lena's fingers to reciprocate the sentiment.
Neither of them keeps track of how long they stay out there on the shallow dunes. They simply lay there, hands clasped, as the galaxy slowly swirls above them.

Isaac II (Part 1)
Tumblr media
Twenty years ago my life took a 180 degree turn. After separating from my ex-wife Sandra, Isaac came into my life, and with him an adventure that if someone told you about it you would not believe. In just five years I went through five pregnancies and gave birth to seventeen children, no more and no less. With my husband I had eleven of them, and we adopted the daughter I had with my ex-wife, whom I got pregnant before our separation. And we decided to be surrogates for our friends Lucas, Ray and Tom, six more children. Oh yes, I forgot, I am a man, a man who got pregnant. I know, I'm kind of a weirdo. Although Isaac prefers to say it's a “gift given to me by nature”.
While Isaac and I adore our children and thoroughly enjoyed my pregnancies, we decided to stop making babies. With twelve boys and girls per household we had more than enough. We had dreamed of having a big, happy family, especially since neither of us had grown up in large families. The dream of our lives was more complete than ever. Or so we believe at the time.
After having the sextuplets we decided to leave the city and move to the town where I grew up. There we bought a big house in the country. Isaac and I could work from home, and being close to my parents and sister would help us raise little quintuplets Dylan, Nate, Philip, Edward and Cristina, sextuplets Bruce, Ken, Patrick, Charlotte, Ivana and Jason, and Sandra, the oldest of all our children.
This change allowed me to make a major change in my life. I started to take up sports again and regain a healthier way of life. With Lucas, Gary, Samuel and Frank, my former soccer teammates when I was young, we started participating in the veterans' league. Although I never regained the shape I had before I gave birth, I lost my belly and my muscles started to show after years of being hidden under fat. My ass, two large spheres, and my hips, wide as proof of having given birth to a full soccer team with its starting and substitute players included, were living witnesses that inside me the party of life had taken place.
Isaac and I have strengthened our relationship a lot over the years. He is my soul mate. If I ever had any doubts about our marriage, seeing him day in and day out taking care of our children made me fall in love with him like I did the first day I saw him on that soccer field. Now in his 50s, he is the sugar daddy I once dreamed of as a teenager, when I was still trying to convince myself that I liked women. His athletic body and the gray hair that has slightly whitened his hair is like a dream come true. When he comes home from working in the garden, sweaty and dirty, I have to hold back my desire for him to slam me against the wall and plant his potent seed inside me again.
This is not to say that Isaac and I have stopped fucking, in fact we do it more than ever. The years have made us wilder. And now that our older kids are in college and our younger ones are in high school, we have more time to live our passionate love intensely. Maybe we have too much time, and too much passion for no good.
Yes, as you can imagine, the inevitable happened again. Sixteen years after I had last been pregnant I felt morning sickness and a general feeling of discomfort in my body again. I didn't want to believe it at first. Remember that we had decided not to have any more babies, but Mother Nature had other plans. That's why a condom broke, there was a plan to get us pregnant again. Apparently twelve children was not enough, so a new litter was about to arrive. I was pregnant again.
For the first time in all these years I saw Isaac worried. In spite of having experience in the matter, this was going to be my sixth time pregnant, it was not the same to be pregnant when I was 30 than when I was 50. And I wasn't sure that my body would work the same way either.
“What are we going to do, Isaac, do you want to become a father again?”, I asked him the night after we confirmed the pregnancy.
“Daniel, I don't know. I really don't know, it was no longer in my plans to be a father again. I adore our children and I love you madly, but I have more doubts than ever”, he said cuddling up to me on the bed. “I remember when we found out you were pregnant twenty years ago it was you who had doubts, and me who reassured you. But look at me now, I don't recognize myself, I'm scared of what this pregnancy might mean for you, especially knowing that we tend to have many children at the same time”, he was shaking as he told me, so I grabbed his hand and shook it tightly to try to calm him down.
I gave him a little kiss on the crown of his head. “I didn't expect to find myself gestating a child again either at our age and after going through this so many times. I already felt complete with what we had. But today, when the doctor confirmed that we were pregnant, something changed in me. I have doubts, lots and lots of doubts, but also the desire to be a father again with you”, I told him without being able to look at him because I was so nervous. “I think it's clear to me that I want to have this child, or children. It may be our last chance to be parents again. Who knows. And, I'm not going to lie to you, I love how much the pregnancies brought us together before. So, yes, I want to be a father”. I looked down and saw him crying emotionally, as much as I was. Both with tears in our eyes.
Isaac sat up, grabbed my face and said in a breathy voice, “I love you so much. We're in this together, let's get to it”. We kissed passionately and sealed that night by fucking like animals again.
The following week we got our children together. Taking advantage of the fact that the older ones had returned from college that week for summer vacation, it was the ideal time to tell them all the good news. Isaac prepared a barbecue in the garden. We also invited Esther and her children Svetlana and Boris, the children she had with Yevgeni, who died last year in a helicopter accident.
Our best friends, Lucas and Adam, and their children Daniel and Isaac, the first ones I had as a surrogate, also came. They are also our family, our chosen family. For little Daniel and Isaac, our sons are their cousins, and we are their uncles. Lucas and Adam wanted us to be in their lives from day one. I will be eternally grateful to them, as it helped me cope better with the strange feeling of having given birth to children that were technically not mine. I still have a very close relationship with the other children I had as a surrogate, but they live farther away, so I see them less often. And also, Daniel and Isaac were my first, it's something special, hard to explain.
When they were a little older Lucas and Adam explained to the boys that I was the one who gestated them because they could not. Far from being scared, the children became even more fond of me. They say that I am their favorite uncle. When they tell me that in front of Isaac he gets jealous. I love to see him like that. He looks so sexy in those funny moments.
Before we got to desserts I sat for a while with my sister Esther and Lucas, my childhood friend. She has always been very perceptive, so it didn't catch me by surprise that she was the one who asked me the question, “You're pregnant again, aren't you?”. Lucas was silent and staring at me with wide eyes. “The first time you got pregnant you did something similar in Isaac's apartment in the city. You will have many children, but originality is not your strong point,” she said teasing me as only a sister knows how. I sipped my soda and nodded my head. “But don't tell anyone yet, we want to announce it to all of you today”, I winked.
Both Esther and Lucas were concerned about a pregnancy in my fifties. “Are you sure? You and Isaac have sky-high fertility, so knowing your backgrounds it's possible you're expecting a whole basketball team. Isn't that dangerous at your age?” said a very concerned Lucas. “Yes, we are aware of the complications that may be involved, but we want to give it a try. It could be our last chance to be parents again. It's not a planned pregnancy, but we agree that we want to try. We take all the risks”, I told them.
They both gave me a big hug in that very moment. They are the two people who understand me best. Apart from Isaac, I can talk to Esther and Lucas about anything. Their hug felt comforting, they were giving me their approval and support. I knew that in the face of any difficulty I could count on them in this adventure.
From across the garden Isaac was looking at us. I knew that without explaining anything to him, just by seeing the three of us hugging, he was aware that Lucas and Esther knew about the pregnancy and that they were giving me strength. His smile at the sight of us made me feel even more confident in the decision we had made. It would not be a planned pregnancy, but it would be a desired pregnancy.
After desserts we gathered everyone around the table and Isaac was in charge of telling everyone. “Thank you for coming to our house today. For us it is very important to have the family close to us in all our steps as a couple and as parents. We are about to start a journey with many doubts, but that will once again fill this house with love”. He then grabbed me with his left hand and put his right hand on my belly. In case anyone did not understand his gesture, he proceeded to clarify it by shouting it from the rooftops. “We are going to be parents again. We are pregnant!”, he announced with the same joy with which twenty years ago he told that we were pregnant for the first time.
Everyone started squealing with joy and celebrating. If there were any doubts, our family cleared them all. Our children hugged both of us, some of them crying with excitement as Isaac and I were. Sandra, our oldest, gave me a huge hug, then told me that “mommy would be as excited as I am right now. I can't wait to have new siblings". I think a lot about my ex-wife Sandra, and as my daughter said, I'm sure that on a day like this she would have liked to be with us celebrating. I miss her, I hope she is proud of the family we have given our daughter.
Be that as it may, come what children may, we are on this journey together, Isaac and I. Together about to become parents again. Living the best of our lives.

Home Is Where The Boss Lives (Mob Boss!Jake x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: After a long time coming, you and Jake are finally able to move into your dream home
Tagging: @bradleybeachbabe Rachel you asked and ye shall receive (lol)
"Ok.......ok are you sure?" Jake asked. "Are you absolutely sure....? No, listen, I appreciate you being careful, especially with something like this.......alright......I'll catch you later......yep.....bye."
Jake hung up the phone on his desk, stacking the last few papers into the wooden box before gathering his brown leather sport jacket and heading out for the day. As he made his way out to the main floor of the casino, he pulled his phone from the back pocket of his jeans and immediately dialed your number.
"Hello?" you enquired.
"(Y/n) my dearest, darling wifey," Jake chortled. "I have a little surprise for you."
"Is it a good surprise or a surprise that's gonna scare your overdue spawn out of my belly?"
"A little of both," Jake chuckled.
"Good because he's been sitting on my bladder all morning and I sent Val to the laundry room to get me a new pair of pants."
Jake laughed. "Nah sweetheart you're gonna love it," he promised. "I'll be home in a half hour and we can send the girls either to Mickey's or my sister's place for the weekend."
"Pleas do," you groaned. "I love you."
"Love you too baby."
Jake hung up just before entering the parking garage where his truck was waiting, right next to Rooster's. As soon as he pulled out and got on the road, he headed for home with the radio blasting Dr. John's "Right Place, Wrong Time" from the speakers.
The drive back to his mother's home wasn't too bad, only a few detours and one road closure for an accident. The officer that had waved him through had been an old friend from college and one that Jake had frequently checked in on after an encounter with Slimy Nick, the very bane of the Seresin family's existence. Jake thanked him and promised to keep in touch with the family since Val and the officer's oldest daughter would be in kindergarten soon.
Finally, he pulled into the driveway of his mother's house where you and the kids had been living while Jake had been trying to get the house. Neither his mother nor the girls were home, but you were, holed up in bed and preparing the home for the birth of your third child, a little boy who you knew would be the spitting image of Jake.
"Sweet pea, you good?" he asked, poking his head in the door.
"No," you chuckled flatly.
Jake slid into bed with you, his hand sliding all over your bump in an attempt to calm your son. "Be nice or I'm coming in there," he ordered, pretending to be stern.
"Jake, you're literally picking a fight with your unborn son," you laughed.
"I came to bring you good news but the little demon decided to start a fight," Jake told you.
"What's the good news?"
"You promise you won't go into early labor?"
"Jake I'm three weeks overdue!!!!"
"Ok ok," Jake said, throwing his hands up. "We've got the house."
You were dumbstruck with shock. "The Vegas house?"
"The very one baby!"
You screamed with joy, pulling Jake into a tight hug and kissing his stubble lined jaw. "You're the best!"
"Ain't I?" he chuckled.
It's not long before you're finally able to fully move out of your mother-in-law's house and into your new one, finishing off the rooms to your liking and making them your own. Not three days after you move in, John Michael Seresin, named for Jake's father, is born in your shared bedroom. As you lay resting with Jake and your new little boy, your new home feels more complete than ever.

Hello, I saw your tumblr pop up and I saw that you are very critical of lances character. I mean absolutely no harm and want to have just have a conversation.
I’m not going to bash you completely because that’d get absolutely no where. I understand a lot of the points you’ve made. The way Lance treats his other teammates (especially Keith and allura) are to say the least… not great.
His one sided rivalry is terrible especially because Keith really is just a kid. He’s got a lot of family issues and now he’s being hated on by some kid he doesn’t even remember/recognize. Allura is dealing with 10,000 years of guilt not being able to save her planet and especially her father. Then ofc Lance comes in and immediately flirts with her.
Neither of these are good things. However, I’d argue that it helps in largely with his growth (if the writers actually cared).
In the first episode when the trio get in trouble Iverson immediately states to Lance that he’s only here because Keith isn’t.
And considering how easily he says this it very much feels like something that’s said often to him.
I don’t think Lance just started the rivalry because he just decided to hate Keith’s guys but because he’s having to be reminded that all he is, is a “cheap replacement” in a sense.
If they (writers) explored this idea more thoroughly I feel as though it would’ve made lances character more understandable. Not better (because even tho something happens doesn’t give anyone the excuse of whatever) but more to show that he’s human.
I would’ve loved to see an apology to Keith for this but obv it never happens.
I will say he does grow more with Allura though. Yes he still flirts but considering in season 5 the scene where Lance is comforting Allura really shows a change in lance.
I feel as though he really changes but the thing is Allura treats him in the end almost as a rebound (not bashing on her or anything). She clearly is more in favor of Lotor and even kisses the hallucination of him and never tells Lance when they’re together.
Moving on, I believe you’re characterizing Lance a little too unfairly. He does not get everything on a silver patter. He gets to be a fighter pilot because he’s the only thing closest to Keith’s record. He is constantly made the joke to the point where even Veronica his older sister find out that they’re being killed because she thinks Lance is an idiot (despite actual evidence mere 5 seconds ago proving it wrong). The whole bob episode makes fun of him. The team kinda leaves him behind. Hunk who’s supposed to be his best friend rarely interacts with him and is more pidges best friend than anything. Season 5s whole thing with Kuron and Lance gets scrapped instantly.
Is Lance a flawed character? Absolutely. But he is very much not given everything. In all honesty I believe Keith is the one who is the most “spoiled” in the show.
Season 1 and 2 lovely. However when shiro dies everything kinda changes.
I understand what the writers were going with but in truth Keith is by far (in my opinion) the worst option for being the black paladin.
Yea Keith has a fucked up backstory. He didn’t want to be the black paladin. he was forced into it.
But that doesn’t mean he is the right one. When he starts he almost kills everyone. Yes he’s starting out but afterwards he doesn’t become his own leader. He just steals shiros character.
When the clone comes in he dips. Sure ita because there isn’t space anymore but considering how easy it is for him to leave is what makes me think of him as spoiled.
The others don’t get an out. If the others had to leave they couldn’t. They don’t have galra genetics that can make them a marmora. They don’t have a space mom to travel with.
They’d have to stay in the castle because there is no where else to go for them.
Keith in the other hand gets an out. He is half galra he has a mom out there in space.
We never see him interact with the others again or even think about them. He only ever thinks about shiro.
When he comes back all of a sudden everything that the paladins have been working on is flipped on their heads. Now Keith has to save the day. Kuron goes bonkers and instead of using all that build up with Lance it’s Keith.
Keith leaves the team defenseless and without Voltron to deal with Lotor.
Gives absolutely no remorse on killing Kuron and just allows shiros mind to be put into his body.
Then he doesn’t give a rats ass about shiro anymore. He never gives him the black lion back (despite that being the original reason he left in the first place)
Shiro becomes a cardboard cutout of who he used to be. And to top that off despite the buildup between shiro and sendak Keith kills him off (despite shiro not even getting injured)
Now as a shiro fan yes I am biased. But, even then this doesn’t give Keith the excuse of being a Mary sue.
The mission where Veronica calls Lance stupid is the one where he leaves the team again to do his own thing.
Despite him agreeing with the others to take off the armor their tracking to run and hide the next scene we see is all of a sudden him being the savior of the episode.
no one else gets this. especially not Lance.
Yes lance is selfish. But I’d rather watch him be the black paladin than Keith.
Because in that Lance can learn and grow. Show that yea being a leader of a team isn’t as “cool” as you think. I wouldn’t loved the paladins being mad at him and him having to actually learn to grow up and be better.
Keith being the black paladin is just him being a recycled shiro.
I wish in all honestly that we got to see the characters be more flawed. and see them ACTUALLY grow instead of being either a carbon copy of another or just completely being thrown.
I hope you see this and I’d love to see your feedback.
Okay. At first, I was really liking this ask. I agreed with a lot of your points about Lance. While I have been heavily critical of him, that's only really because of how much people adore him and are afraid to criticise him. I've already stated, in my original 'Lance bad' post, that I didn't have an issue with Lance in season 1. I liked where his character started, but it was only in later seasons that I started disliking him.
I liked that he was insecure, but there was no pay-off to it. Maybe there were a few times he was reassured by someone, whether it be Allura, Shiro, Keith or whoever, but it feels like less of a trait/flaw and more of a way for him to be comforted. There's no scene in which Lance's insecurity puts the team in actual jeopardy, which would be a great way for his character to develop and to put some actual meaning to making him insecure.
I liked that he was flirty and goofy, because the cast needed a balance between the serious characters and the comedic ones. I liked that, even though he was goofy and comedic, the staff still tried to take him seriously. (Unlike Hunk).
So, yeah. There is stuff I do like about Lance, which is why I'm still treating him as fairly as possible in my rewrite. His insecurity is alluded to early, he's actually best friends with Hunk and it's not just saying that, he at least tries to defend his friends against Iverson, he is quite protective of Pidge, and he is capable of speaking to Allura (in SEASON ONE) without flirting every ten seconds.
But. In canon? I can't stand him. You say he doesn't get everything handed to him on a silver platter, but I don't see your point being proven. Instead, you point out how he's the constant butt of a joke. In season 7 and season 8. Yes, he's made fun of, but that doesn't mean he's not spoilt?
You also say that Keith is spoilt the most, because he gets the Black Lion and 'gets an out'. I feel like you just wanted to see Lance in the Black Lion more.
You claim that Keith is the worst option. That just because he has a fucked up backstory and was forced into it, it doesn't mean he's the good option. Um. That isn't why the Black Lion chose him?? Keith was the only one who didn't have selfish reasons for entering Black. Pidge and Hunk were basically goofing around but they're mostly comfortable where they already are. Lance wanted Black for selfish reasons, to prove himself. That's fine and all but it's not what Black was looking for.
Allura and Keith are the only ones who didn't want the Black Lion for themselves. A lot of people think Allura should have been the Black Paladin, which is fine but I honestly prefer Allura in Red and Keith in Black. Keith only went into Black's cockpit because Shiro wanted him to and the universe needed a Black Paladin. He did it for selfless reasons.
Onto your next point. About how Keith led them into danger and near death when he started. Um. He's just started out? And nobody has comforted him about losing Shiro (AGAIN). Instead, we have Pidge calling him a loner, Lance accusing him of using Shiro's death for his own gain, and everyone just being overall mean and nasty to Keith, RIGHT AFTER SHIRO DIED.
Honestly, I'd love to see you try to lead a team that seems to hate you. At least Keith gets his head screwed back into place before long. And calling him a B-tech Shiro? Should I remind you of: "You want me to lead Voltron? This is how I lead!" The whole point of that was to show how different their leading is. Shiro would rather play it safe unless he's emotionally compromised like at the end of season 1. Keith would rather hold nothing back and go at it 100 percent.
Also, I seem to keep having to bring this up. When Shiro was still there but was knocked out or unavailable, guess who was the one issuing orders? Yeah, that's right. It was Keith. Keith was always the first to ask Shiro what's wrong and then issue orders until Shiro gets back. He was always meant to be the Black Paladin, it's you guys who refuse to see it. I mean, if you look at his clothes, you will very quickly notice that it's not Red's colours. Mostly black with some red, white and yellow? Hmm, that's-- Oh yeah! That's Black's colour scheme. He was always meant to be in Black.
Also saying that Keith is spoilt because he 'gets an out' is stupid. Yes, I am insulting you because that's so far from the truth? Lance could have been dropped off on Earth while Allura stays as Blue and Keith goes back to Red. Allura could have taken a step back and let Lance go back to Blue and Keith to Red and Shiro to Black. Shiro could have stayed dead like he was supposed to and let nothing change.
That first episode of season four? Voltron are doing parades. The BOM are searching for important information to take down the Galra Empire. What, did you want Keith to do the parades? Surely, the people could understand that the Black Lion is out on a mission. There's no need for all five to be there. But, no. Of course, Keith is in the wrong. Regris dies right in front of him and he nearly dies out in space and he's doing incredibly dangerous and important work. But when he gets back, surely the others will be there for him after a fellow Blade died and he nearly did? Right? Nope. They just glare at him because there was an attack nobody could have predicted.
Keith leaves and nobody stops him. Keith leaves so Lance can stay happy in Red and Allura can stay happy in Blue and Shiro can get Black back. He leaves, not because he gets an out or is spoilt. The work he's doing is arguably MORE dangerous than Voltron's work. He isn't hiding inside a Lion, he's doing all this in person.
Saying that he gets to go around on Space Whale with his mother? The same one who abandoned him? While reliving past memories such as his father's death? While having to go through future scenarios again and again, essentially dying over and over to Shiro. His brother.
The whole point of setting some stuff up between Lance and Kuron is to compare with Keith and Kuron. Keith who would have been able to hear Shiro. He would have heard Shiro be cruel and snappy and he would have been on that case immediately. He would have done everything to find out what the hell is happening.
Keith is not spoilt. Lance is not spoilt either. Yes, Lance is given mostly everything he wants, but he still suffers. It's not directly correlated to what he wants/gets, but he suffers nonetheless. Keith is the furthest from spoilt. The only time he can get to relax? Um... He doesn't. Not even in the two-year time skip on the Space Whale because he's constantly suffering from images of the past and the events of the future.
Also, it's ironic that you call Keith a carbon-copy of Shiro, even if they're completely different. Because that's what viewers want Lance to be. They never admit or outright say it, but they want it. They want him to be traumatised, kind and serious, and they want the Galra to take something from him (like, say, a limb), and they want him to struggle to rely on others. That's Shiro. They want Lance to be Shiro but Cuban.
Lance would be a horrible pick for Black Paladin. As I've said time and time again. The reasons are in a pervious post if you want to find it. I've only just woken up at the time of writing this. It's kind of funny to me that I can provide a good reponse to this while I still have sleep in my eyes and I can barely remember the multiples of seven.
If Lance was white, I wonder how many people would still love him.

Hey June; could I ask for mother’s day in the Miller household? With Joel, Sarah, Ellie, and Sammy doing something nice to surprise you? Just all the kids and Joel being such a wife guy and showering his wife with love, I need it 🤍
Saph!! Thank you for the request 🩷Sorry this took literally forever but here it is!!
Hey Me, Hey Mama
Pairing: rockstar!joel miller x actress!reader
Summary: Mother’s Day [1.7k]
Warnings: fluff, brief mention of breastfeeding, talks of having another baby, Sam and Daisy being Hell Raisers
Tumblr media
You hear the whispering outside your door before you can open your eyes. It sounds a lot like Joel and the girls having a hushed argument while Sam jiggles the door knob underneath their noses, his favorite thing to do since he's started walking. You smile and roll so your back is to the door and pretend to be asleep as quiet footsteps enter the room. Joel's side of the bed dips with his weight, and a gentle hand smoothes the hair out of your face a moment later.
"Hey," he says gently, and you hum. "There's a surprise for you." You blink your eyes open to find Sam in Ellie's arms at the edge of your bed while Sarah carefully slides a tray full of breakfast on your bedside table. Eggs, bacon, a little bit of toast, and a huge Starbucks coffee with little cards tucked under the plate fill the tray, and you smile.
"Happy Mother's Day." The girls say in unison as Sam babbles along, trying his best to keep up with his sisters. You turn to look at Joel and see a huge bouquet of flowers in his hands.
"Happy Mother's Day." He echoes. You sit up, giving Sam enough reason to wiggle away from Ellie and into your bed.
"Oh, thank you, guys," you say as Sam collapses into your chest with all his toddler weight, making himself laugh. "D'you guys make this all by yourselves?"
"Dad helped," Sarah answers, and Ellie slaps her arm. "I mean, yes."
"One job," Joel mumbles under his breath next to you, and you laugh.
"Well, thank you to everyone who made this. It looks amazing." You say as you hold Sam with one hand and grab the food tray with the other. Sammy snuggles into your side, occasionally reaching for a piece of egg which you give him until he decides he's actually hungry and all but rips your shirt trying to nurse. Thankfully, neither the girls nor Joel gives you a second glance. After almost a full year of breastfeeding, they're used to it and really don't care when or how you feed Sam so long as he's not screaming. They fall right back into their conversation as they lay in between you and Joel in bed.
For being as old as they are, the girls never miss an opportunity to crawl into bed with you and Joel like they're little kids again. You love it, especially since you didn't get to make those memories when the girls were little and press kisses to their foreheads whenever you feel like it. Joel observes the organized chaos quietly, snapping candid photos of you four every once in a while and relishing in the slow morning with his family.
You finish your breakfast and open the cards from the girls and even one that Sam scribbled in. Ellie gives you a beautiful drawing of one of the pictures she took in the hospital after Sam was born, and Sarah writes a heartfelt message in your card that makes you cry. Sam, ever the cuddly boy, rests his head under your chin once he's done eating and sighs contentedly, making you feel like your heart could burst. Joel catches it and smiles at you over the kid's heads.
At some point, Daisy comes crashing in and gets Sam all riled up and wanting to play. Ellie throws Sam over her shoulder and leaves the room with Daisy trailing closely behind, ready to run around the backyard like her life depends on it, and Sarah grabs the now empty tray to take it back downstairs. "We'll be down in just a second, okay?" Joel calls after them.
"No funny business with our mom!" Ellie yells, making you choke on your laughter, and Joel's jaw drops.
"She's my wife!"
"Yeah, but she's my mom!"
"She's got a point," you chime in, and Joel rolls his eyes.
"Would y'all just go play or somethin'?" Joel says, and you can hear their laughter even after they close the door behind them. He huffs as he turns toward you, but you're still laughing at the whole encounter. He melts at the sight of the smile on your face and leans forward to kiss you. "Hi," he says against your lips.
"Hi," you say back, resting a hand on his chest and cuddling into his warmth. "Thank you for my breakfast."
"'M glad it wasn't a complete disaster."
"The coffee definitely helped."
"Yeah, I figured it would," he breathes. "It's a miracle Ellie didn't burn down the house."
"She's learning." You say, and he nods, but the scarred look on his face tells you everything you need to know. You glance over his shoulder to get a better look at the flowers he brought you and smile when you recognize the petals. It's a bouquet of the kids' birth flowers. Granted, their birth flowers are pretty easy to remember considering how similar they all are. Sarah was born in July, making hers a waterlily, and Ellie and Sam were both born in May, making theirs a lily. There are lots of little filler flowers like Baby's Breath and some pretty ferns, but the lilies really stand out. Thank God you don't have cats. Joel catches you looking at them and chuckles.
"The florist thought I was fuckin' with her when I asked for that many lilies. Had to explain my whole idea to her." He says, and you laugh.
"They're beautiful," you say. "But you really didn't have to do anything."
"I wanted to. You deserve to be celebrated," he says like you just said the most incredulous thing to him. "Plus, this is your first Mother's Day with Sammy. I wanted to make it special." You're about to argue that, technically, Sammy was there last Mother's Day, you were just pregnant, but you stop at the love-stricken look on his face. Who are you to argue when he's staring at you like that? You kiss him again.
"Thank you." You mumble, and he smiles.
"You haven't even gotten your big present yet."
"Joel-"
"Let me spoil you, please. You deserve it, and not just because you pushed Sam's big ass head out but because of how good of a mom you are to the girls." He cuts you off, and you sigh. He's not wrong, but still, motherhood doesn't feel like something to be spoiled over. It feels like something you just do, and hope everyone gets through life with the least amount of trauma. Even if you said this to Joel, he would argue and probably go on a long tangent about how important you are to the kids, and you'd probably cry. Stupid Libra, you think. Always making me emotional.
Before either of you can say anything else, he pulls a little box from his pocket and hands it to you. It's not dissimilar to the box your engagement ring hid in for months, and for a second, you think about joking that you're already married. But when you open it, a stunning cluster of gems gleams back at you. A ruby and two emeralds shining against a gold band to represent your three kids in order of their births. "I thought it'd be nice to have a reminder of them when you go back to work," Joel says, and you smile. How is he so fucking thoughtful? Carefully, you take the ring out of the box to look at it a little closer. The kid's initials are engraved inside the band as a little secret for you, but something near the gemstones catches your eye.
"What's this?" You ask, pointing to the empty spot near Sam's birthstone.
"Oh, I asked the guy to leave a space, just in case."
"In case what?" You know the answer. You just want to hear him say it. He blushes and fiddles with his wedding ring.
"In case we decide to have another baby." He says, and you smile. Sam will be one next week, flying through milestones like it's nothing. Sarah is in grad school, doing amazing things, and Ellie is getting ready to finish up her last few semesters of undergrad. Everyone's growing up too fast, and you've both been caught by the other looking at old pictures of the kids. Still, you haven't formally discussed the idea of having another baby until right now. You look down and turn the ring so the morning sun can hit the stones at different points before meeting Joel's eyes again.
"Another baby, huh?" You ask.
"Would it be the worst thing in the world if there was another Miller walkin' around?"
"We may never sleep again," you say. "But no, I don't think it'd be a bad thing. I think it'd be pretty cool."
"Yeah?" He asks, and you nod, giddy smiles overtaking you two. You probably look crazy, but you can't care about it when your mind is running fast with images of Sam holding a baby, being a big brother, and teaching them things. Joel hovers over you, his chest pressing against yours, and you slide your hand into his hair. "You're serious?" He whispers.
"Yeah. Three was never my favorite number anyways." You shrug like you're talking about apples instead of humans, and he laughs.
"Well, alright," he says. "Let's have another baby." Hearing the words out loud makes you giggle, but the sound is cut short when he kisses you. It's tender and sweet until it's not, his teeth grazing your bottom lip and swiping the pain away with his tongue. Your hand finds its way up Joel's shirt, your fingertips tracing the hard lines of muscle formed over years of playing sold-out shows. He's barely ducked his head to kiss down your neck and chest when a door slams from downstairs, and you hear the girls shouting about something.
"Dad! Sam took off his diaper, and Daisy won't drop it!" Ellie yells, and Joel groans into your skin.
"Just a minute!"
"Now!" Ellie and Sarah scream at the same time. The sound of the faucet running, Sam screeching with laughter, and the girls yelling at Daisy fill the previously peaceful house, and Joel gives you a look.
"It's all you, Dad." You say, and he sighs.
"Why me?"
"Because it's Mother's Day."
"That," he starts but can't come up with an argument. "Is true," he kisses you again before standing up and walking to the door. With a hand on the knob, he turns back around and points at you. "Don't go anywhere."
"Wouldn't dream of it, cowboy."

Title: The Love After Drabble (06): Do you think it'll ever go away? The guilt of what I've done? || You're reminded of your past
WC: 7,579
From: The Love After (werewolf!JK x human!reader)
##
“Daddy, I want to be a pink wolf!”
“I want to be yellow!”
“But what if you don’t want to be yellow anymore?”
“What if you don’t want to be pink?”
You’ve opened the door by the time your daughters yell out in unison, “daddy, can we change our colors when we get older?”
You gaze at a wide-eyed Jungkook as he sits on the living room floor with Eunjoo and Hayoon on his lap, his mouth open then closing, perhaps trying to figure out how to tell his kids that, no, they can’t be either of those colors; neither can they change them.
He looks back at the 2 pairs of curious eyes and smiles. “Why don’t we ask Amma later, okay?”
“Okay!” They both squeal, turning to face you with a greeting and then focusing on their works again.
Jungkook stands up and helps you with the produce-filled bags and places them on the dining table.
“We were just coloring and then they decided they wanted to be pink and yellow wolves,” he pouts at you. “I didn’t have the heart to tell them they can’t.”
“Yeah, so you’re gonna let Amma be the one to tell them?” You chuckle. “Back in my day, it was the ‘where did we come from’ question that my parents didn’t wanna answer. Amusing to think that now it’s this.”
“It’s just them, though,” Jungkook sighs. “I don’t think any of the other pups in this town want to have bright-colored fur or something.”
“They’re 3 years old, Kook,” you cup his cheek. “They’re being creative and imaginative and that’s normal when they have parents who read them stories every night. They’ll eventually learn the truth and they would’ve outgrown wanting to become pink or yellow or rainbow-colored wolves by then. So you don’t have to worry about disappointing them, okay?”
You know that’s what he’s more worried about - breaking your daughters’ hearts. It’s the one thing he can’t bear to do, and so many times you’ve had to talk about him learning to say no to them, otherwise they’ll grow up thinking that they could get anything they want, and that’s not the kind of world they live in.
“Fine,” he gives in. “But I’ll really have them ask Amma so I don’t have to answer and see their disappointed faces.”
“Oh, Kook,” you hug him, wanting to comfort your mate who’s made it his goal to always make your daughters laugh and smile. “You’re doing great, okay? We are. I mean, look at them. At that age, Baram was constantly bullying me.”
You and Jungkook laugh as you both soften at the sight of your daughters who exchanged coloring books so they can decorate and draw on what their sister just did. They like sharing things with each other, and that includes their own creations. They like complimenting and hugging each other, too.
“Anyway, was your market run good?” He asks, walking to the kitchen to get the late breakfast dishes that he prepared for all 4 of you.
“Yes,” you grin. “They finally have persimmons and oranges. I got more fruits and vegetables, too. All for half the price.”
“Perks of being the Beta’s mate,” he winks.
“Obviously, although I think we would’ve gotten them for free if you were the one who went to buy,” you laugh.
That wouldn’t be far from the truth. The whole town loves Jungkook, especially those who work at the market because he’s the one who makes sure that their harvests are safe from wild animals. They claim it’s just right that he doesn’t pay much for it; they earn due to his protection, after all.
“That’s true, but those 2 didn’t want to let me go,” he smiles, thinking back to earlier in the morning. He checked on them in their new bedrooms and they woke up, immediately hugging him.
“They’ve missed you,” you say. “We were at my parents’ for an entire week because you decided to be all ‘father of the century’ by building the second floor so they could have a bigger room. You were gone most of the days and they just want to be with you.”
Jungkook shyly smiles and you melt when he does. He kept his promise of building a second story to accommodate your children. He built 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs and you were blown away when he revealed it to you and your daughters the other day. They squealed in excitement because they could finally have a big space for all their toys.
You don’t know how Jungkook managed to do it in such a short time, but perhaps that has a lot to do with all the help from the townspeople and members of the pack. He rarely ever asks  for help, Taehyung told you, so when he inquired about plumbing and bathroom tiles, people were quick to offer.
The second floor is stunning and you’re still in the process of designing it. But it took so much of Jungkook’s time, and so when your daughters woke up to their daddy’s voice, you’re sure they were ecstatic to spend the morning with him, too.
“They seem to like their room a lot,” Jungkook hums. “We were playing there earlier and they asked me to make a dresser and a chest for their things. I’ve got designs in my head already and I can’t wait to make them.”
“How are our daughters just 3 yet they already know what they want and how to get it?” You chuckle. Sure, they grow almost twice as fast as normal humans do, but still, a lot of the things they do surprises you.
“They get it from you,” he laughs now. “And they probably know that I’d do anything for them. I tell them every night.”
“I really hope we’re not raising spoiled kids, Kook,” you furrow your brows.
“We aren’t. You’ll make sure of that.”
“Hey!” You nudge his knee. “I’m not the only one who’s gonna keep them in place.”
“Fine, fine. We both will,” he smiles.
Parenting werewolves is not easy, and for a time, Jungkook didn’t think he’d ever be having this conversation with his mate. Neither did he think he’d ever be able to make this cabin feel like a home for a family, and now, there’s 2 storeys of it filled with nothing but warmth and love that all 4 of you share. He can’t wait to share it with more.
Eunjoo and Hayoon go to you once you call them, and they haven’t really outgrown sitting on both your laps during meals so they could hug you while they eat.
It’s one of your favorite things as a parent, you think, as Hayoon wraps her arms around your neck after a mouthful of grilled fish and rice. She goes back to sitting on your lap to feed herself, and then lays her head on your chest. Eunjoo does something similar with Jungkook, and you both share a look as if to say that you both did this.
All those times of having them sleep in between you and Jungkook and reading them stories and humming them lullabies; all those afternoons of laying on the grass while you all make out the shapes of the clouds; all those evenings of sitting on the couch at the porch, hugging each other under the light blanket - perhaps both your daughters keep all these moments as memories, too, and their affection is all the love they’re returning because of your love that they feel everyday.
“Daddy, will you take us to Amma? I want to ask about our fur,” Eunjoo looks at him sweetly.
You stifle a laugh as Jungkook sighs.
“Yes, angel. I’ll take you and your sister to her,” he says, hugging her back after she squeals. “And you can play with your cousins and the other kids there, too.”
It’s a Saturday, after all, and a lot of families go to the pack house and Amma’s residence to gather over food and conversations while the pups listen to stories and play around the garden by the pond. It’s like a daycare center there, and you’re glad there’s a place for your children to grow and learn about themselves where they’re safe and comfortable.
“I have a meeting with my brothers,” he turns to you. “Are you sure you don’t need my help at your parents’?”
“No need,” you assure him. “Mother just needs someone to carry around furniture and boxes since she wants a repaint. I can handle it.”
Jungkook nods and you both return to your meals, chuckling when the kids slurp their bowls dry and then finish a large piece of orange each. You decide to clean up in the kitchen while he gives them both a bath, and you all spend time choosing the girls’ outfits for today’s afternoon at the pack house.
“Bye, mommy!” They both yell, kissing you sweetly before jumping into their father’s arms. “We’ll see you later!”
You kiss Jungkook and watch them get in the car, gushing at how attached your children are to both of you.
You get back in the cabin and look around, checking every corner to see if there’s something you need to clean or put in order. After rearranging some things, you head out to the backyard and see the remaining slabs of wood that Jungkook didn’t use for the second floor. Those might be for your daughters’ chest and dresser, you think. Some of his tools are still outside, including the one ax that he accidently broke.
You’re reminded again of all the work Jungkook did to continuously make this place a home for your family, and you don’t think you can ever thank him enough. You suppose that a good dinner of rabbit stew and some chicken spinach pies would be a good start.
**
“Just a little more to the left,” your mother instructs you, and you do as she says before she releases another breath. “Good, you did it. You’re fine.”
“You do know I have superhuman strength now, right?” You laugh at her, knowing that she tends to still worry whenever you lift heavy things. “I can do all this and not break a sweat.”
“I know, my dear. I still need a lot of getting used to,” she smiles. “Both my daughters are incredibly strong beings and well, good on us for not needing to hire more people to fix the house.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll try to learn to paint for you,” you tease. “Jungkook could be your foreman or something.”
“Ah, I don’t want to add to his responsibilities anymore,” she hums. “He’s doing so much fixing your own place and being an amazing father to your 2 girls. He needs to spend the remaining time he has of not working and patrolling with you.”
“I know, but it’s not a big deal,” you assure her. “We spend time together as much as we can. And it’s been a tough few months for him, too; he’s just been needing care and reassurance more than anything. Being mates allows us to just know what the other needs, you know?”
“That’s good,” your mother smiles, cupping your cheek as she walks towards you. “And you’re good at that - giving care and reassurance.”
“Am I already?” You wonder out loud.
You hate to think of a time when it wasn’t the case, and the thought of those months of ignoring Jungkook, shutting him out, and putting him in danger causes an ache in your heart. You’ve tried to make up for all those times but you don’t know if anything you do will also ever be enough.
“Of course, my dear,” she nudges you, acting upset that you’d think otherwise. “He wouldn’t be looking as happy as he does whenever he talks about you if you weren’t. It makes my mornings.”
“And when does this happen?” You arch an eyebrow.
“During the days when he comes over some with meat after a hunt. About twice a week,” she informs you. “He has that glimmer in his eyes, you know? It makes me so thankful that you were fated to him. I just knew he’d love you so well, the kind that would let someone as hurt as you open up completely to him and love him just as much.”
The words are meant to be comforting, and you know your mother means well - she laid witness to you shutting out the entire world after all, and she’d been one of those to ask you to give Jungkook a chance. You just can’t help sometimes but think of how hurt he must’ve been feeling so unwelcomed, unwanted.
You’ll never know what that’s like; that’s the last thing Jungkook would ever make you feel. Even when he’s hurt and dealing with his own pains, he seeks for you.
Like that time a townsman was attacked by a wild boar, leaving him in critical condition, and Jungkook blamed himself for failing to protect him. Or just recently when Mr. Roi, the owner of the workshop he works at, passed away due to an aneurysm and Jungkook was upset that he hadn't sensed it sooner.
He was hard on himself both times but he let you hold him. He was upset and grieving but he let you comfort him. He let you share all that pain with him, and not once did you feel like he wanted to go through all that on his own.
“You okay, sweetie?” Your mother’s voice cuts through your thoughts.
“Yeah, just… thinking. You’re right,” you manage a smile. “Jungkook loves with all of him. The girls and I are so lucky.”
“Well, they’re lucky they have you, too,” she comforts, kissing your forehead. “So I was wondering… what do you think about redesigning your bedroom so it could accommodate your family? Perhaps getting rid of your desk and bookshelf to fit 2 double beds?”
“What for?”
“Well, your father and I were thinking that it would be nice to have you and your sister and your families here some weekends,” your mother says. “Your kids are growing so, so fast and we don’t want to blink and miss all that. And well, it gets lonely here sometimes. And with your grandfather gone…” she trails, her voice dropping low at the thought of how much she misses him. “It’s just… we want to spend time with all of you, all at once. Is that alright?”
“That sounds good,” you say. “The girls will outgrow the double bed but uh, maybe sometime in the future, we could build an extra room just off the living room? Or we could convert grandfather’s—”
“No,” she interjects. “I mean, not yet. I’m… I’m not yet ready to let him go like that.”
You mirror the sadness in her eyes, and though it broke you when your grandfather passed, you can’t imagine how it must’ve been for your mother who’s spent all her life with him. You understand wanting to keep people who have passed in spaces, in things. It lets us feel like they’re still here.
“Okay,” you say. “We can redesign the rooms. I’ll ask Jungkook to help out one weekend.”
Your mother returns your smile and you both get back to work, emptying the living room so the painters could prepare it for tomorrow.
It’s mid afternoon by the time you finish, and you say your goodbye to head home and start preparing for dinner. You work on your dough and filling for the pies, deciding that you’ll go for a hunt while they’re setting.
You’ve never joined Jungkook on a hunt. Ever since your transformation, you’d only ever shifted to run into the mountains or when you feel like your family is in danger. Jungkook had always insisted it was his job to do that, and he knows this area more than anyone; hunting is his thing and there was never a need for you to do it.
Not unless you want to surprise him, of course.
Rabbit stew has become his favorite ever since you prepared it for him one night years ago, when you redid the Ceremony dinner at the cabin. That was the night you admitted what you felt for him, and you have a feeling that Jungkook ties that meaning to the dish. So every time you feel like showing him how you feel - however that is - you make him stew.
There were no rabbits from yesterday’s hunt so you decide to look for them yourself. You shift into your wolf form and head out, trying to remember Jungkook’s hunting strategies that he’s shared with you. You look for fresh prints, sniff their scent, and let the animal in you dictate where to go.
It doesn’t take long for you to sense movement from the meadows a few kilometers away. As you follow the sound, you know it’s what you’re looking for. There are 2 of them and their prints are heavy; they’re big, enough for your family of 4.
You run faster, not wanting them to wander farther. You sneak up on the pair and instantly catch one, alerting the other. You follow, scanning the field before you and knowing that you could easily outrun it, back it into a corner and then call this hunt a success.
The rabbit is fueled by adrenaline, running faster than you expected and heading towards a body of water that you know it hates. But you take this opportunity by outrunning it, growling as you go and then pouncing on it once it nears a boulder.
You’ve got it, the wolf in you rejoices. You know once you shift back into human form, you won’t remember much of this; it’s your first time, anyway. It’s why Jungkook doesn’t let you hunt; once you do it regularly, it becomes a part of you, and killing prey is not something he wants you to get used to, much as it’s for survival. He’s there to do it, it’s in his nature unlike you, a human by birth.
One thing you learned after your transformation is that you don’t retain much of your memory as a wolf when you’re in your human form. But when you’re in your wolf form, your memory as a human remains, balancing you. Amma has said once that it's what reminds you of who you are by nature, that having your human memories is one way to ensure that you don’t remain as a wolf.
It’s why once your forelegs hit the water, you remember.
The breeze that evening. The cold water. The sound of the river’s current.
You remember the feel of the boulder against your soaked body. How hard it was. How it diluted the blood that was seeping out of your head.
The sun had set then, like now. There were wildflowers on the riverbed, like now.
You’re growling, but back then, it wasn’t yourself that you heard - it was another wild animal, big and black and angry.
It was here, years ago, when that bear attacked you, when you were close to giving up, and when Jungkook saved you. He took you on his back and ran as fast as possible to take you to safety. He was frantic in the pack house as he demanded the doctors to save you. It was the same night when you broke his heart for the millionth time by saying that the cabin wasn’t your home, that he wasn’t your home.
You haven’t been here since that night. You hate that it took away from the good memories you had here with Yoongi before, and being back here brings you back to that time when you almost gave up on yourself. When you almost gave up on Jungkook.
The human fear and sadness from that time alerts you that you have to leave, that you have to shift back. So you run as fast as you can and head back home, prey in hand, and tears in your eyes.
**
Standing in your shower as you wash away the blood from your body, you feel betrayed. You aren’t supposed to remember much of what you saw but you remember it. You remember everything.
Perhaps it’s because those were your human memories and that’s why it’s as clear as day; being in that place as a wolf doesn’t mean you’ll forget what you experienced.
Because you’re here now, unable to move, feeling an unnameable type of pain that’s familiar, and it hurts so bad. If it wasn’t for your timer going off to say that your pot is boiling, you’d be staying here for hours.
It felt so vivid. You didn’t think that being back there would make you recall how it was that night even if you didn’t remember much right after. It’s been years, after all, but as you caress your neck to feel the mark of your bond, you know why you feel empty yet heavy; you know why you feel like your heart is being ripped apart even as it beats rapidly.
It may be your memory, but it’s Jungkook’s pain you’re feeling.
The sight of you helpless. The thought of you giving up, of losing you for good.
The thought of him withering away at the loss of you.
The thought of never having this home, this family, this love.
You exit the bathroom and see your bed, and you remember the nights you spent holding his hand because he’d been weak, because you’d selfishly taken all his energy, because you’d taken so much of him without giving anything in return.
You remember the fear you felt of losing him, the guilt of hurting him, and the worry that you might never be able to make it up to him.
You feel Jungkook’s pain. And yours. All at once.
**
You’re surprised you manage to make a decent-tasting rabbit stew and not burn the pies given how absent-minded you’ve been since you got back from your hunt. You suppose it’s due to muscle memory; you’ve made these dishes so many times before. Just like as it’s reflex for you to turn to the door once to hear it unlock, even if you’re unable to fully process what’s happening.
“Mommy!” Eunjoo and Hayoon greet in unison as they run to you for a hug.
“Welcome back,” you coo, taking them into your arms and giving them a tight hug. If there’s anything to remind you that everything from earlier is a memory, it’s them - the manifestation of the love you share with your mate. “How was your afternoon?”
They yell over the other about things they did, but you pick up that they listened to some stories, planted flowers, and fed the fish in the pond.
“I’m glad you both had a great time there,” you kiss their noses. “Did you give daddy a hard time?”
They look at each other before smiling and squealing, in unison, no. You cock an eyebrow at them before looking to your husband for the truth.
“They wanted to follow the ducks into the lake,” he playfully shakes his head. “They said they want to learn to float in the water or something.”
“Oh, my babies. You’ll learn to do more than that,” you smile, kissing them again before letting them jump on the couch and turning the TV on.
“Hey,” Jungkook kisses your lips now. He turns his head towards the pot and his eyes get bigger. “Rabbit stew? How… how did you get the meat?”
“I hunted,” you smile, letting it fade right after.
“You, what? Hey, that’s my job,” he pouts.
“I know, but I wanted to surprise you with your favorite dish,” you reply. “It was a quick hunt. And it won’t happen again.”
He looks at you like he’s waiting for you to say more, but he just kisses your forehead and whispers his thanks when you don’t.
“Can you set up the table, please? I should be done soon.”
Jungkook does as you ask, and it’s not long after when the 4 of you are seated on the dining table, with Eunjoo and Hayoon taking turns narrating - with more details - what happened today. You’re amused, as you always are. They’re only 3 but they can do so much; they’re still babies in your eyes and perhaps they’ll always be.
You nod and ask questions, but you think that Jungkook can sense something is wrong, as he takes your hand under the table and catches your eye when you look his way. You fake a smile to assure him, even if you know he can see right through you.
“Mommy, I’m tired,” Eunjoo says after squealing about how cute ducks are. She lays her head on the table and Hayoon does the same, facing her.
“I’m sure you both are,” Jungkook says, taking both girls in his arms. “Why don’t mommy and I get you 2 ready for bed, huh?”
“Okay!” They both speak at the same time.
“Leave these here first,” he tells you. “Let’s tuck them in, together.”
You nod and follow, with Jungkook leading the way to their bathroom.
Your daughters imitate ducks as you bathe them in their tub, and you watch in awe as Jungkook plays along with them. He knows just what to do to get their attention, and you adore the way he takes care of them - making sure the water’s not too hot or cold, massaging their heads as he shampoos their hair, then wiping them dry once they decide another time that they’re both tired.
Snug in their towels, he lays them on their beds. “Tell mommy how much you love her, okay?” He whispers in both their ears, although it’s something you hear. He turns to you and says he’ll start cleaning up downstairs and you nod in response.
It’s more quiet with you and your daughters now. You want to savor this time with them as you gaze at their eyes that are just like their father’s. Energetic as they are, they have his warm heart and his affection, too, as they hug you tightly and tell you that they love you very much, and it’s not just because their daddy told them so.
You wish them goodnight and head down the stairs, no longer surprised when you see that in a short amount of time, Jungkook’s managed to clean everything up.
“I’m outside,” he calls out once he hears you’re back.
You walk out onto the porch, letting the cool wind embrace you. He’s sitting on the couch, looking out into the forest. He turns to you with a comforting smile.
“Hey,” he says.
There’s so much warmth in his eyes. You often wonder how the fiercest wolf of the pack can have so much tenderness in his body. It’s in the way he speaks to you, looks at you, holds you. You don’t want to imagine a world where you don’t experience this; you hate to think that there was a moment where it could’ve been taken away from you, where all this could’ve been taken away from him.
You give in, knowing that at the end of the day, he’s all you need.
You sit yourself on his lap and wrap your arms around his neck, your face finding refuge at the crook of it. You breathe against his skin but the tears sting your eyes. You let them fall anyway.
His large hands envelope you - one holds your hip against him, the other caresses your back.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He asks after a while.
“I was chasing the rabbits and I ended up at the river,” you finally say. “The one… the one where I fell, where there was, uh. Where you saved me.”
You turn to face him, tear-stained cheeks hurting him as he looks at you.
“And then I remembered,” you continue. “I remembered almost giving up. I remembered almost letting go.”
The words pierce through. Jungkook remembers it, too. He remembers your faint heartbeat and the way you’d slowly loosened your grip on that boulder. He remembers feeling like his world was ending, seeing you helpless and scared.
“I haven’t gone there since that day. And being there again just… I…”
You break into a sob before you can say more. It’s overwhelming to feel this much sadness, this much regret. It’s as if seeing where it all happened after you’d buried that memory made your life in the past few years flash before your eyes, as if all that’s good was being stripped away from you.
And it almost felt like your heart was being torn into pieces. The way it tore Jungkook’s. Perhaps that’s what you felt - his heart at that moment, breaking.
He wishes he was there with you so you didn’t have to go deep into the memory, that he could protect you from all that hurts you. He can, but not from this.
“I wasn’t good to you, Jungkook,” you say this time, eyes glazed from all the tears. “I’m so sorry.”
“Hey,” he exclaims. “We’re past that. There’s nothing to apologize for anymore.”
“It’s so heavy,” you sigh, breathless, as you clutch your chest. “It’s hard to breathe. I keep thinking of everything I put you through, of every time I pushed you away and kept you out, all the times that I made you feel unwanted, that I made you feel like I would never love you. I keep thinking that I… hurt you. So much. And I didn't… I didn’t stop.”
“Look at me,” he urges you, his own eyes glassy now at the sight of you carrying all this burden. “Feel this.”
Jungkook takes your hand to his chest.
“My heart is beating, the way yours is. They’re connected. We’re alive and we’re safe and we’re home. We made it that way because we chose to try, because we chose to move past all that happened because we wanted this. We wanted to love each other. And I don’t doubt that love even for a second,” he says, desperate for you to listen to his words. “Whatever parts of me you hurt, you’ve healed them. Everyday that I come home to you and our children, I heal. You heal me. That’s all that matters.”
Jungkook always said he’s not good with words. But you disagree. Every time he speaks like this, he heals you just as much.
“I don’t ever want to live a life that isn’t with you,” you manage to say. “I don’t ever want to live a life where I’m not loved by you.”
“And you won’t ever know a life like that,” he assures you. “I’d save you in a heartbeat, ___. I’d save you a thousand times a day if I have to.”
**
It feels like hours that Jungkook holds you - on his lap while your head rests on his chest. You just want to feel his warmth, feel his heart, the one that’s connected in so many ways to yours.
“Let’s have a bath, okay?” He says.
You wrap your arms around his neck again. “Okay.”
This attachment tells Jungkook you don’t want to let go, so he stands up and carries you in his arms, walking both of you towards the bathroom. You remove yourself from him once he places you on the floor, and he tells you to wait for him as he fills up the tub.
He returns to you right after and kisses your forehead before undressing you, slowly removing your shirt and then your jeans. He helps you get rid of your undergarments, leaving you bare for him.
Jungkook doesn’t take his eyes off you as he undresses himself, but he keeps them on your face, studying the sadness emanating from it.
He’s bare in seconds, and he takes your hand and guides you towards the tub - the one he built, wooden and deep and spacious for both of you.
“Come,” he whispers.
You follow, sitting yourself between his legs and laying against his chest.
You and Jungkook do this often. Though neither of you ever gets tired, your shared warm bath helps your bodies relax. It lets you feel close to each other, too, and it’s times like this when you feel what he’s said - that your hearts and your bodies are connected.
He kisses you tenderly, starting from your temple to your cheeks, inching downward until he reaches your neck and then the mark that bears your oneness.
There’s a certain kind of emotion that stirs within you whenever he does that, and you sigh in relief, because that’s what the act usually does - it assures you, comforts you, unburdens you to some extent and lets you breathe.
You sigh, closing your eyes. You’re starting to feel lighter with just this.
“You held onto me, you know?” He speaks after a while. “During those times, you made me feel like you still needed me in your own ways. Even if it was just my warmth, you’d move closer, and anytime I could see that you liked what I could give, it made it all worth it. And then you called for me that night. I… I knew then that you needed me and I wasn’t ever gonna let you go.”
You turn to him with questioning eyes.
“That night? After the attack?” You ask.
Things were hazy for you but you know nothing about calling for him. You turned him away after all, and said he wasn’t home.
“You did,” Jungkook hums, recalling the car ride home and taking you to your room. “We were back at your parents’ house and I was… well, I was a mess. It was hard seeing you in pain and I just cried. I kept crying, actually.” He chuckles, trying to make light of it. “You were asleep but you were tossing and turning. A bad dream, I think. So I just held your hand and then you called my name. It was a whisper but I heard it. Whatever the reason, I just felt like somewhere deep down, you needed me.”
“Maybe I did,” you nod, smiling despite the tears in your eyes. “‘Maybe I didn’t know it then but my heart did. My heart knew it needed you.”
“It’s a good way of looking at it, right?” He smiles back.
“It is. But it doesn’t mean I’m any less sorry,” you pout now.
“I know, and I wish I can change your mind.”
Jungkook has a forgiving heart. You’ve always known it. He told you once that he lacks the strength that you have but you know it takes courage to forgive. And he forgives you every time. He does it without fail.
You think about this as you both finish your bath. You gaze at him and watch his every forgiving and loving movement as he wipes you dry and leads you back to the bedroom. Wanting to feel him bare against you, you trace his face as you hover over him, having slid in between his legs again so you can look at him fully.
He’s a lot softer now. You remember you used to see tenderness only in his eyes. His face was always so hard, so strained. You’d find out later on just how much he was holding back on a lot of things. But  now, he melts into your touch and it says of how much that’s changed.
You wonder if you’ll ever stop thinking about it - how much you hurt him, how close you were to not having him. Everything he is now may be because of you, but a lot of who he was back then was because of you, too.
You lay on top of him, your chest flushed against his. You listen to his heartbeat while his fingers trace patterns on your back. It’s soothing more than anything, and it’s what prompts you to ask.
“Do you think it’ll ever go away?” You wonder out loud. “The guilt of what I’ve done?”
You push yourself up to look at him, curious if he’d fallen asleep because of his silence.
“I wish it would,” he finally says. “I can’t… I can’t lose you to your thoughts.”
Not again, he doesn’t say.
You feel things. Too much sometimes. Guilt is not an exception. And he worries that if you keep that with you, it might be what would pull you both apart.
But you know what he means without him saying it. You lived in your mind and in your pain all those months, and he lost you to them before he could even have you. And this… this might not be any different.
What is guilt but chains, you think. Guilt isn’t love. It doesn’t make the other person feel loved. Maybe it’s what would drive them away.
“We should be enough, don’t you think? Me, this home, our girls?” Jungkook asks, almost desperately. “Love got you this, not guilt.”
“I’m scared that the more I think of how much you love me, I’ll think of how you’d done that so selflessly. And that’s why the guilt creeps in, like it did today,” you try to explain. “Because you had to lose so much of yourself for me to see how much I needed you. And you still had so much to give.”
“I’ll always have a lot to give. Because I take from you,” he says, caressing your mark. “That’s what’s so beautiful about this - we give to each other and we take from each other. And we’ll never run out. And so that guilt? I’ll take it from you, I’ll share it with you. Maybe that’s how it goes away.”
“I don’t want to feel it anymore. Because I don’t want you to feel it,” you pout.
Maybe that’s how it goes away, you think.
“Then we won’t feel it,” he chuckles softly. “But know that whatever it is that’s inside you, it’s mine, too. You’re my mate, ___. I’m here because of you.”
You nod vigorously as tears slide down your cheeks again. “Okay. We’ll share it all. We’ll share everything.”
There’s clarity in your eyes. There’s acceptance. There’s understanding and remembrance of the promise you made to the Moon and to each other. And as you look back at him, he feels you slowly give all that guilt up so he can take pieces of it from you.
You kiss his lips once, and then another time. The next is long and deep, and the way you pull the tips of his hair and push against him tells him what you need.
He needs it, too, so he helps you mount him, your hands now on his shoulders as your lips glide against his hard cock. His hands on your waist guide you as you move until you give him that look that lets him know where you want him this time.
Jungkook lets you slide down on him, his tip hitting your edges right away and this is how you want it tonight - you want to feel it all. You want to take control at the beginning and give it all to him. You want to look into his eyes as you move up and down on his shaft while moaning his name.
He matches your movements, pushing upwards just as hard so he could feel every inch of you, too. He sits up and you come the first time when he swallows your breast, his tongue swirling around your pert nipple. He lets you come down from your high as he wraps his arms around your waist, his head against your chest while it heaves to let him know how good he made you feel.
There are no other words said. You both know what the act of mating does and with how heavy it’d been, doing this all night is what you both need to once more feel that oneness, to feel that sharing of pain and hurt, to give and take each other’s strength.
Because behind the pleasure is that trust, that undeniable connection. It’s the love that courses through your veins and that you hear in each other’s beating hearts; it’s the loss of breath and moans of your names, the glassy eyes and trembling lips as you let each other know just how healing this love is because it’s meant to.
Because that’s what it means when you’re fated with someone - you feel their pain and their joy like it’s yours. You trust that at your most vulnerable, they’ll hold you like you’ll break but they won’t treat you like you’re fragile. And they’ll kiss all the broken parts of you and love you hard until you’re whole.
“Sleep,” he tells you after you come for the fourth time, caressing your cheek and kissing your lips. “It’ll all be better in the morning.”
**
The sun is high, almost blinding. Your book isn’t big enough to block its shine but it still works. The wind is cool and the day is too nice for it to not be spent outside.
And it’s where you are - at the meadow where you’d fallen asleep before the incident by the river. Jungkook thought it would be nice to bring the girls somewhere new where they could ride their new bicycles after having just learned, and you were the one who suggested this place.
He was unsure - you’d cried about the painful memories of that night and its aftermath just last week - but he gave in after you said that you’re feeling better, and that maybe the guilt can completely go away if you replace the bad memories with good ones. Eunjoo and Hayoon were running around and picking flowers earlier, and their squeals and sounds of wonder have been all worth it.
Jungkook’s smile is worth it, too. Laid on his lap, you lower your book to get a peek of your mate, and the look of pure joy he has on is indescribable. The sparkle in his eyes whenever he watches your daughters is something you hold dear in your heart; you’re glad it’s the one image you can’t ever get out of your head.
“Careful, you two!” He calls out after Eunjoo falls to the side.
She quickly stands up and waves at both of you. “I’m okay, daddy! I’m strong!”
“You’re still a child, though,” he answers back.
“But I’m a strong child! See? No booboos!” She counters, earning you and Jungkook a laugh.
“Look at them go,” you say, humming when he combs your hair with his fingers. “They were latching on to me not long ago and now, they’ll bike and run around for as long as they can.”
“Our kind really grows too fast,” he chuckles. “They’ll probably be jumping over rocks and running up mountains in no time.”
“I wish time would stop,” you sigh. “Just so we can savor these moments with them. And just so we won’t have our babies no longer needing us so soon.”
“Well, time won’t stop but you do know that we have a lot of time,” he says. “You know what that means.”
“Uh, I’m not sure I do?” You sit up and face his smirking form.
“We can always have more pups,” he shrugs, the statement so casual as if it’s that easy to just decide on having more children. “The girls are grown. We can handle things. I… I’d like to think we love each other even more now. What do you think?”
The thought of it excites you. Sure, there are so many things to consider. But you’d like to think that with all that’s happened in the past years, and especially last week, there’s so much more for you to give.
You look at Jungkook and the way his eyes shine and his smile softens when he talks about your daughters. There was a time when all he had was an empty cabin and himself - none of your nightly family cuddles on the porch, none of the snowball fights during winter, none of the laughter and giggles and homemade pies and handmade wooden toys that you all bond over.
Home has become more than a structure for Jungkook, it’s now more than a dream - it’s people he loves and he’ll continue to love. And you know you want to give that to him. You want to give him that joy of being able to create a bigger home with more children he’ll care for, because you know that there’s so much space for his incredible heart for that.
“Okay,” you smile. “I’d love to have more children with you, Kook.”
He can’t contain his smile, and all he can do is hug you tightly and let you feel through this how much it means to him. You hug him back and kiss his cheek, and he can tell that you want this, too.
“Family hug!” Hayoon squeals once she turns towards your direction, and it’s not long after when both girls are running towards you, squeezing themselves in between the spaces and hugging you and Jungkook.
Their giggles are music to your ears, and the image of more of them doing this with you makes your heart jump. Your home will be bigger, and you can’t wait for that, too.

so, after watching the movie, my first thoughts were "edgin and xenk should've kissed and adopted a baby together to raise so kira can have a sibling."
so i decided to plop an orphan tabaxi cub into xenk's arms. xenk was close by where edgin, holga and kira lives so decides to stop there bc xenk may be "mr. perfect paladin" but he's not too knowledgeable about taking care of a baby. edgin is reluctant at first but he does have a soft spot for kids, especially babies so he lets xenk into their home.
- xenk was at first planning on taking the orphan to an orphanage, similar to the one he stayed at when he was a child. (kinda like a church) edgin wasn't on board with the idea, pushing xenk to take the baby in. ("but i travel a lot. i am not fit to raise a child." "yeah, neither was i! it's fine, the kid can stay here! you can stay here!" -cue awkward silence-)
- the tabaxi cub is a lot smaller than your average cub, and xenk suspects because the baby is a runt. the only item the child has is a bracelet with the markings of trees on it.
- when kira asked for the baby's name, xenk said they did not have one so they were brainstorming ideas. holga took one look at the cub and said "looks like a gary to me." so the name stuck. (xenk wasn't too keen the name, trying to be respectful of the tabaxi culture. edgin added "of the woods" to the name to please xenk. so the cub's name is gary of the woods.)
- our running joke with this au is that the baby is small, but when they grow up, ends up being the tallest of the whole bunch. holga still calls gary "little bit" tho.
- edgin is stubborn about it, but helping xenk take care of a baby is making him fall for the guy. xenk has always found edgin to be interesting, but he too is falling for edgin bc edgin treats him like a normal person and is actually a good father, even if edgin doesn't believe it himself half of the time. it's all very slow-burn. (one particular scenario i have is edgin encouraging xenk to sing a lullaby to little gary, who is crying. xenk is slow to start but starts singing a thayan lullaby his mother used to sing. it calms the baby down and it actually makes xenk emotional. edgin is all, heart in his eyes bc this was the most he's ever seen xenk emote and also wtf, this guy has a voice of an angel.)
- gary when he's older: this is my papa, xenk. and my dad, edgin. and my auntie holga. and my big sister, kira. and my other auntie doric. and that's simon!! (´∀`) he's my best friend!! (simon with his hands over his heart, getting all teary eyed)
- gary of the woods looks like this:

The Ponytail
Fandom: Trials of Apollo Rating: Gen Genre: Family Characters: Austin, Yan, Will, Kayla Yan gets a new hairstyle, and it brings a ghost back to the cabin. Austin takes matters into his own hands. TOApril day 6 - Hair Holds Memories. This went through various iterations from my initial thoughts to what I ended up writing, especially when Austin decided to get involved, whoops...
To start with, Austin couldn’t work out why Kayla and Will looked like they’d seen a ghost.  Both of them had been a bit off for most of the day, his younger sister more than once looking on the verge of tears, quivering lip and all, while Will just went blank, as though he was shutting down, and Austin couldn’t work out why.
At least, not until he saw the ghost.
It was just a flicker in the corner of his eye, a short, low ponytail, black hair on a head that was closer to the ground than his own.
Michael, he thought, startling himself because it had been three years since his first head counsellor had fallen from a shattering bridge to never be seen again, and he’d thought he’d moved on.  He’d certainly moved on better than Kayla, who had been obsessed with their tiny big brother while he was still with them, and Will, who had just known Michael for ages.  Austin didn’t think he’d been close enough with the older boy, really, to justify sudden hallucinations of him three years later.
Then he turned his head and the hallucination theory disappeared out the window as fast as it had arrived, because it wasn’t Michael, of course it wasn’t Michael.  Michael wasn’t Apollo’s only other black haired kid, and Michael had been killed by Kronos years ago.
It was Yan.  Austin knew their hair had been getting longer – they’d forgotten to get it cut before the main contingency of Aphrodite kids went home for the fall, and for various reasons they didn’t trust the year-round kids from any cabin to actually cut their hair, so they were waiting for one of the trusted kids to reappear either at Christmas, or next summer.
Until today, they’d been keeping their hair loose, because it was only just getting long for them, but something had clearly changed – quite likely their hair had started posing a risk in archery – and they’d tied it up in the obvious, low-effort style that kept it out of the way effectively.
No-one would have given it a second glance if it wasn’t exactly the same hairstyle Michael religiously pulled his hair into every morning.  Austin didn’t remember ever seeing Michael with a different hairstyle.
From the way Will kept doing a double take whenever Yan passed through his periphery, he didn’t think that just held true for Michael’s last six months in camp, either.
Yan had clearly noticed something was up with both of them, and probably with Austin, too, because they kept glancing over at them, mouth screwed into something puzzled, but they clearly weren’t sure enough to ask, which meant they weren’t sure they weren’t imagining it – Yan was quiet, yes, but they were also completely unafraid of calling people out.
They weren’t much of a healer, but the attitude still helped when dealing with idiots that thought they knew better than the healers.
Austin remembered Michael doing something similar, when he thought about it – except Michael hadn’t been quiet, ever.  For a tiny guy he’d been loud, even if that was mostly because he kept arguing with Clarisse and various other campers that annoyed him.
Neither Will nor Kayla were doing to do anything about it, though.  Will was too soft, too unwilling to imply that Yan was hurting him, even if it was unintentional, and Kayla preferred to shoot problems rather than talk about them – but she wouldn’t shoot Yan, so that meant this was a problem she was going to bury, instead.
No-one else still in the cabin had ever met Michael, so that meant it was down to Austin to sort this out, preferably without one of his siblings breaking one way or another.
Ah well, this was Will’s last year in camp, given everyone knew he was off to New Rome University at the end of the next summer, and Alice was a summer camper so while she was going to inherit the head counsellor role officially, Austin knew full well who was going to be holding down the fort for the rest of the year.  He might as well start getting some practice in.
His chance came when Yan entered their cabin later in the day, while Austin was cleaning his saxophone – the jazz one, not the one he carried around in combat because, yes, Sherman, they were different.  One was for combat music and storing useful contraptions, including his blowpipe and assorted ammo, and the other was for performance.
Honestly, he wasn’t a heathen.  Mom had bought him the performance one, and the combat one had been a gift from Dad right before Manhattan.  Not that he couldn’t use the jazz saxophone in combat at a pinch, but he’d really rather not if he had the choice.
Austin didn’t know why Yan had come into the cabin, but he wasn’t about to let the chance slip away while there was no Will and no Kayla to realise what he was about to do.
Will in particular was annoying like that.
“Hey, Yan,” he called, setting aside the polishing cloth and carefully setting the saxophone down on its stand.  His sibling glanced over at him, the short ponytail swaying with the movement just enough to catch Austin’s attention, and gods, did a trick of the light have to make them look so much like Michael?
The hair was the only thing about them that was the same!  Yan was so clearly of Chinese ancestry, and Michael had been white – tanned, Austin thought, but still white, with skin tone and racial features to match.  True, they were also both short, but Yan was a normal degree of short, instead of Michael’s tiny.
Yan looked over at him, and from the look on their face, Austin realised they’d noticed his split-second distraction, again.  “What is it?” they asked.
“Let me do your hair.”  Austin beckoned them over.
His sibling sighed and ran a hand through the hair in question.  “It’s the ponytail, isn’t it.”  It wasn’t a question, and Yan didn’t wait for an answer before heading over to him, snagging their hair brush on the way.  “Why?”
Austin shuffled some scattered reeds out of the way, so Yan could sit in front of him, and took the proffered brush.
“Kayla ever mention Michael to you?” he asked, pulling the hair tie out of his sibling’s hair and snapping it around his wrist.  He didn’t bother asking if Will had; he knew the answer to that.
“The head counsellor before Will?” Yan replied.  “A few times.  He died, didn’t he?”
It only took a couple of passes with the brush to get rid of any stray tangles Yan’s hair had picked up during the day.  “Yeah,” Austin confirmed.  “Kayla and I didn’t know him for long, but he was pretty cool.  Kayla adored him – I think Michael used to struggle to go anywhere without her following him, and if it was the archery range it was a total lost cause, not that I think he cared about that.”
“He was an archer,” Yan said confidently.  “Kayla said he was the best.”
Austin snorted slightly at the memory that arose of both of them trying to outshoot each other.  They’d done that several times – although it was really Kayla trying to outshoot Michael, because she was good even back then, but Michael had been better.  Austin didn’t know if that was still true, but they’d never know that.
“Yeah,” he agreed, leaning over to grab a box of hair elastics from his dresser.  One generic hair tie was not going to work for this at all.  “He was.”
He grabbed his own comb, too, and got to work partitioning Yan’s hair, reminding himself that Yan’s Asian hair was not going to take to braids the same way his did.  His sibling didn’t react to the tail of the comb against their scalp, so Yan had probably expected Austin to do something like that.
They sat in silence for a few minutes as Austin concentrated, splitting Yan’s hair down the middle and clipping the half he wasn’t working with away before he split the other half into three more sections.
“Michael wore his hair in a short low ponytail all the time,” he eventually said, once he had the sections to his liking and ready to braid.  “And his hair was black.”
Yan’s shoulders slumped.  “I see,” they said.  “Sorry.”
Austin jabbed him in the shoulder with the end of the comb.  “Not your fault, you didn’t know.  Besides, it’s not like he gets to monopolise hairstyles.”
“Which is why you’re redoing my hair so it isn’t like that,” Yan pointed out dryly.  “I can take a hint, Austin.”
“Braids are cooler than ponytails,” Austin sniffed.  “I’m doing you a favour.”
“And stopping Will and Kayla from looking like they’ve seen a ghost every time they see me,” Yan continued, not giving Austin any wriggle room to deny it.  “I know.  It’s okay.”
It wasn’t, not really, but Austin knew there wasn’t anything they could do about it.
“And thanks,” Yan continued.  “I know you don’t do just anyone’s hair.”
Austin tied off the first braid with a flourish and got started on the second.  “You’re my sibling,” he said.  “Why wouldn’t I?”
Braiding took some time, especially because Austin had to keep remembering not to tighten the braids too much in deference to Yan’s hair type – no-one wanted Yan losing hair when the braids were taken out – but he kept to a simple straight pattern, until Yan had six braids running from their hairline to the back of their neck.  Yan was patient, though, and they filled the time with various chatter – a lot of it questions about Michael, leaving Austin a little astonished at both how much and how little he remembered his brother.
It was all worth it, though, when they were summoned out of their cabin later by the dinner conch, and Kayla and Will didn’t flinch, pale, or otherwise show signs of seeing a ghost when they caught sight of Yan.
Yan noticed that, too, and the smile on their face was easy and comfortable as they settled onto the stone bench next to Jerry, who didn’t even seem to notice the change in hairstyle.
“You didn’t have to do that,” Will murmured in his ear, but Austin shrugged.
“I did,” he said.  “Yan wanted stories about him in exchange.”  He wasn’t enough of an asshole to say Michael’s name to Will, but his older brother still winced a little.
“Sorry,” he said, “I should’ve-”
Austin flapped a hand at him impatiently, cutting him off.  “It’s fine,” he insisted.  “I wasn’t as close as you, or even Kayla.  It was easier for me.”
Will still didn’t look happy about it, but Jerry suddenly exploded into some rant or other about cricket (again – Austin did love his British brother, he did, but his obsession with that sport could get seriously grating at times), which made attempting to have any more conversation pretty much impossible.
From the satisfied smirk on Yan’s face, and the nod they sent Austin, he was pretty sure his sibling had provoked Jerry on purpose.
Whatever worked, Austin supposed.

This past weekend my sister and I needed to fill a beanbag chair, a challenging job neither of us had ever done before and will probably seldom need to do again, but we were learning and solving problems and refining our technique so much the whole time that we felt quite proud of ourselves and a little bit let down that we didn’t have another beanbag to fill expertly with what we now knew.
Since I don’t expect to need to use my new knowledge in the near future, I want to set it down while it’s fresh in my memory, in the hope that it helps someone else.
Read more behind the cut.
What You Will Need:
An empty beanbag chair. I hope you saved the package, which should tell you its approximate capacity. We fortunately hadn’t thrown it out but we didn’t think of this at first, until after we found the bag of beans we had eyeballed as enough didn’t even half fill the damned thing. So if you don’t want to make two trips to Hammerbarn, check the capacity before you go. If you don’t have the package, good luck to you and bear in mind the capacity is almost definitely more than you think.
Beans to fill the bag. These should be available at large hardware stores. You can get recycled polystyrene ones now, so I would recommend those. The ones we bought were called Green Beans. We needed 350 litres. That is correct.
A bath. This acts as a containment field.
Scissors.
A roll of packing tape.
Two safety pins. (You may not need them but read all the instructions to decide.)
Two large paper or plastic cups. Milkshake cups or those big red American party ones would be ideal. We had neither and used smaller paper cups left over from a child’s birthday party. This was our second mistake. Use large ones or it takes bloody ages.
An agile and willing helper. This is a two-person job. Don’t kid yourself.
A vacuum cleaner. For the aftermath.
What To Do:
Gather the above and take them into the bathroom.
Shut the bathroom door. Exclude all spectators, especially little kids and pets. You have got to keep this contained. Make sure the bath is dry and put the plug in.
Cut out the bottoms of both paper cups and discard them.
If it’s like ours, your beanbag will have an outer zipper in its cover, then an inner lining with a second zipper. To make them less scratchy, I suppose, the zippers on ours had been made with no pull tabs. If yours are like this, put a safety pin through each of the zip slider things to make something you can grip and pull. If yours has normal zippers with pull tabs you can put the safety pins away, as you won’t need them. Anyway, open both zippers.
(My sister got this next part from a video tutorial, but we had to work out a lot of refinements on the go.)
Take one cup and put it in the inner opening of the beanbag. The wider, top end of the cup should be sticking out. Zip up the opening to close it up to the cup, then tape it into place. You want a seal so nothing can escape from between cup and bag. The cup will act as a funnel and the tape means you don’t have to constantly hold it in place.
Plunk the beanbag into the bath with the cup sticking up.
Take your big bag of beans (hereafter “the bag,” as opposed to the beanbag) and do not open the top. Handle it carefully because you really don’t want it to spill. From now on you are responsible for this bag and your helper for the beanbag. Put it upside down in the bath, stand in there with it and operate on one of the bottom corners. (If you’re familiar with piping bags and their nozzles, this will make sense to you. If you’re not, trust me.)
Taking care not to let the beans escape, cut off enough of this corner to make a hole into which you can stick the other cup. Do this the other way around, so the cut-out bottom of the cup faces outward. Tape it into place, ensuring there are no gaps between the edge of the bag and the cup.
Do not turn the bag upside down (or back to right side up if you want to be really pedantic about it) now! Ask your helper to lift the beanbag and put that cup onto this one, so they’re stacked, nesting together. Tape the two cups together, again, so that there’s no gap between them. Really check the seaworthiness of your tape job at this point or this could be your last happy moment for a while.
Throughout the next steps your helper needs to be on the lookout for any leaking beans, and if they spot any, stop operations immediately to find and patch the leak. You can’t fluff around with beans.
Lift the bag and turn it over so that it and the beanbag form something approximately sort of a bit like an hourglass. You have to keep holding it up while the beans pour through into the beanbag. You’ll need to jiggle it because static cling will make the beans reluctant to go. Jiggle, jiggle, jiggle, but not so vigorously that you pull the tape off.
You jiggle that bag, and your helper jiggles the beanbag to distribute the beans evenly inside it, until the beanbag is as full as you want it. Lower your bag and carefully cut and peel the tape off the beanbag, then remove the cup from it and zip it up without delay, inside and out.
If you have some beans left in the bag, close and tape up the top of it likewise without delay. If it’s almost empty (due to that static cling, you won’t get it completely empty), you should dispose of it as you think best. You might be able to recycle it where you live but I don’t know. Do not, however, do that right away.
Congratulate each other! That was a tricky job.
Take the zipped-up beanbag out of the bath and put it on the floor and do a test sit. You may choose to add some beans (if you have leftovers) or scoop some out to get it as firm or as soft as you like. Put it back in the bath before you try that!
When you’re satisfied with your beanbag, tidy up, using the vacuum cleaner to get any rogue beans out of the bath. Put everything away and bask in your sense of achievement, and spare a grateful thought for me.

*opens the door menacingly and stands there in the dark* Give me Wuko kids.
AAAHH you scared me!!
But yesss Wuko kids lets see....
First of all I firmly believe Mako and Wu adopt, and that they adopt when they are late-30s early 40s. I feel really strongly about this for Mako's sake, because he was parentified at the age of EIGHT and spent his childhood and adolescence taking care of Bolin. Mako lost his parents, grew up too fast, and raised Bolin (And listen here. Mako did a GREAT job. seriously. Bolin turned out great all things considered!) But he neglected himself for too long because of it.
SO Mako should get to spend his twenties and thirties being selfish. Figuring out who he is outside of a caregiver role. Very important that he does that before raising kids. Otherwise he's going to fall back into that same pattern of self-neglect and ignore his own needs. Nope I don't want that for Mako and neither does Wu.
So @creampuffqueen converted me to the Wuko GirlDads agenda, and I'm pretty much all in with that. and I'm not gonna lie, I have been thinking about those girls, who they are, their personalities, etc. Thing is I don't have anything fully fleshed out in my brain. But here's where my idle brainstorming is so far.
There are four girls, ranging in age from 13 to 5.
I cannot tell if this idea is weird or not, but I was thinking it could be pretty interesting if the each of the girls were benders from each element. I was trying to figure out the best way to do this. As far as I know there's no hard rules about how bending is inherited in mixed heritage families, and I don't know enough about genetics to make up rules that make sense. So I guess either they come from a very mixed heritage of Fire, Earth and Water nations, or maybe one or more of them are half sisters having a different parent. I kind of like the idea that the oldest had a different father than her younger sisters, and that he died when she was very young, and her mother met someone else of different heritage and had the other three.
I also kind of think it would be interesting if they were from another city in the United Nations, like Yu Dao maybe. Perhaps at this time Repubic City has a better program for child protective services, but Yu Dao lags behinds?
So I like the idea that the oldest is an earthbender, and the next two sisters are water and firebenders. And their parents died when the youngest was about one or two. So the girls have been on their own for three or four years. And it was kind of working okay, they were managing, looking out for each other and especially the youngest.
UNTIL. The youngest starts airbending.
So the girls have no idea what to do, but decide maybe they should take their chances, leave Yu Dao, and go to republic city to air temple island because they genuinely don't know how to help their sister learn her bending.
So they cobble together enough money for train tickets and make the journey, I'm sure they encounter many obstacles along the way, but eventually they make it to air temple island. And Mako and Wu (whom I have no idea if they are both earth kings or if Wu has managed to abdicate or what. I haven't thought this out enough lol) are visiting air temple island and these four scrawny orphans show up with a teeny five year old who keeps unexpectedly making tornadoes and both Mako and Wu are just immediately invested.
then idk they adopt and they are awesome dads and it's obviously a huge adjustment for everyone but they all live happily ever after the end.
Maybe the girls get into recreational probending and Wuko are sports dads.
