Ellie had made a new friend.
You and Ellie were at a college party a couple months ago. It was a part of y’all’s routine. Classes Monday-Thursday, party Friday and Saturday, and use Sunday to recover from the hangover. You would go and dance, drink, smoke, and on the occasion do a couple lines of coke. Ellie didn’t dance but loved watching you from the bar. A girl your age sat next to Ellie and striked a conversation with her. When you noticed, you immediately power walked on over. Ellie was beautiful, a lot of girls wanted her. Ellie would turn them away. She didn’t care about anyone else but you. Why is she talking to this stranger?
Come to find out, her name was Lila. Ellie and Lila went to the same high school years ago and wanted to catch up with Ellie. Lila had a long term boyfriend and majored in psychology. Once you knew she was straight, you left them alone after shaking Lila’s hand. You were no longer worried and just wanted to get as crossed as you could.
The next morning, Ellie woke you up with a finger inside of you. The entire time you couldn’t focus due to the constant beeping of her phone. You asked her to stop and reached for Ellie’s phone, tapping the screen to see Lila had texted Ellie eight times. You thought it was strange but according to Ellie, instead of saying everything she wanted in a single text, she’d send multiple. She had been texting Lila since she got you back to your dorm. You found it strange that Ellie had already caught on to her texting patterns but told yourself Lila was straight, nothing is wrong, Ellie made a friend and they’re getting to know each other. You were afraid of losing Ellie. So many girls would tell you how lucky you were. You knew it but saw red when being told that. To you, it meant they would throw themselves at Ellie if you weren’t in the picture.
Ellie began hanging with Lila in her dorm, which was a floor above yours. She’d text you every five minutes to keep you updated and even gave you Lila’s number so the two of you could become friends. She came off as clingy but was super sweet. Ellie made plans to go out to the bar with you and invited Lila so you could hit it off. You did, you actually adored her so much. She was super cool and funny. She’d talk shit to guys who tried to hit on her and would come to you or Ellie’s defense if anyone tried flirting with either of you. You liked that about her. She was loyal, a girl’s girl, overall a fun person to be around. The three of you would hang out often, sometimes just Ellie and Lila, sometimes you and Lila. Lila would boast about her boyfriend and ask a lot of questions about your relationship with Ellie. The sex, fights, anniversaries, little things Ellie would do, etc. It all fascinated Lila. She’d talk about how her boyfriend Josh was silent and off putting but gentle towards her. You enjoyed bonding with her.
You felt it had been awhile since you went on a date with Ellie. You decided to surprise her by showing up to her dorm, tossing rose petals all over the floor and lighting candles for an intimate setting. You knew Ellie would love it. But she never came. You had called beforehand and told her that you would stay the night in her dorm so she knew not to go to yours. You texted her and asked where she was. She said she was having a movie night with Lila. You thought it was weird you weren’t invited. You and Ellie would only hang out with her alone if the other had a class or was busy. If the three of you were free, y’all were together. You felt hurt and cleaned up the mess. You argued with her about it the next day and found out it was Lila’s idea. You texted her and expressed how uncomfortable it made you. She was apologetic and made you promise not to tell Ellie that she was telling you a secret. Ellie was planning a big surprise for you since an anniversary was coming up. You felt guilty and apologized to Ellie. You asked to have dinner Saturday, which was supposedly when the surprise was going to take place.
You waited for Ellie at her favorite diner. The minutes kept passing by and by, Ellie never showing up. You were blowing up her phone but she wasn’t responding. You never told Ellie, who preferred having her read receipts off, that you turned hers on secretly for you. She read every one and still no response. About an hour later, you were bawling your eyes out and decided it was time to leave. In walked Ellie, who was surprised to see you so emotional.
“Baby, what is it?”
“You were supposed to be here an hour ago.”
You made sure to bump her shoulder as you stormed past her. Once you made it outside of the diner, Ellie had caught up with you and grabbed your arm. “Let go!” you yelled.
People around started to stare. Ellie gave you a dirty look and pulled you closer. “Stop causing a fucking scene, these people think I’m hurting you,” she growled under her breath. “Calm down.”
She shoved your wrist away and stepped back, running a hand through her short hair. You tried to calm yourself down but the tears wouldn’t stop flowing. “I thought it was at seven. I’m so sorry baby,” she apologized.
“I reminded you a million times that it was at six.”
Ellie took her phone out and sighed at the text messages, acting as if she was guilty for not “seeing them.” You were starting to get pissed off but knew you couldn’t reveal that you knew she was lying.
“Sweetheart… I’m so sorry. I was over at Lila’s to-”
“Lila’s again?!” you nearly shrieked. Ellie made a face at you.
“She’s our friend. I was hanging out with our friend. She was helping me get ready because I wanted to look nice for you.”
The more you thought about it, the more you realized that Ellie would text less and less the more she hung out with Lila. She wouldn’t really text you much either.
“I’m starting to think she’s interfering with our relationship, Ellie. It feels like we barely talk. We don’t do anything together anymore. All you wanna do is hang out with her. ”
“She’s not interfering!” defended Ellie. You ignored her and walked away as she called out your name.
When you were finally in the comfort of your bed, you decided to text Lila to see if you could talk to her privately. Your text didn’t deliver. You hoped either she had no service at the moment or her phone was turned off. You set it down next to you and shut your eyes, the emotions of the day coming to hit you all at once. You cried yourself to sleep.
You saw a flower and note on your dresser the next day from Ellie. She told you how sorry she was and that she didn’t want to fight anymore. Then there was an anniversary card next to it where she wrote an extremely long paragraph for you. She must have come by early in the morning to leave it for you before her class. You sent a text and let her know to swing by your dorm once she was finished. You didn’t have classes until the evening, so you sat around waiting.
Her class ended at 11 a.m. and it would take her five-ten minutes to make it to your room. 11:05 came and went. 11:10, you started to think she might have stopped to talk to the professor or went to the restroom before leaving. You checked your phone and saw she read the text at eleven on the dot. You slammed the phone down on the bedside table and laid down. You fought tears as you started asking yourself where things went wrong. You wished you had told Lila to back off anyway that night at the bar. Things would be different. Ellie would be holding you, kissing you and whispering sweet nothings in your ear right now if it wasn’t for Lila.
-
You didn’t know you had fallen back to sleep until you woke up and realized you had missed your evening class. When you had checked the time, you also noticed Ellie sent a short text: “Not feeling so great today babe. I’m good though, no need to check in on me. Hope u liked your card. Love you:)”
You sighed. You’ve had enough. Ellie was lying and avoiding you for sure at this point. She was such a baby when she didn’t feel well, calling you and begging you to come by and take care of her. You shoved your phone in your back pocket and slid your shoes on, leaving your dorm room to go down the hall to Ellie’s. You tried opening the door but it was locked as if she wasn’t there. You pulled your phone out to call Lila. You swore to yourself that if they were hanging out that you would sit them both down and force them to hear how you feel. Set boundaries and make sure it’s clear that no one is allowed to hang one on one with each other anymore.
After dialing, you brought your cell to your ear and froze when the automated voice said the number wasn’t available. It didn’t ring at all, which explained why your text never delivered. She blocked you. And all you knew was that her dorm was a floor up but couldn’t remember which one. You felt stupid for not memorizing it. You didn’t want to bang on every door until you found her so you called Dina who was on the same floor as Lila.
“Hey,” she answered.
“Dina, hey, which dorm is Lila’s?”
“Oh, I’m good thanks for asking,” Dina said sarcastically “It’s like four doors down from mine. Why?”
“Ellie’s there right?”
“I mean.. I saw her this morning but kinda assumed she was back at her dorm or yours. Is she not?”
“Shit!” you hissed. “Fuck. Something is going on, I can feel it. Thanks, Dina. I’ll give you a couple of free joints for your help. Love you.”
You hung up and rushed for the stairs. You practically ran up them, skipping steps and getting nasty looks from other students who you nearly ran into. You opened the door and speed walked through the hallway to Dina’s door. It was cracked open and her head was poked out. She sent you a thumbs up as a way of saying good luck. You counted the doors and glanced back at her. She shook her head no to the door you were pointing at then nodded when you finally landed on the correct door. You felt your stomach turn. Your mouth salivated as if you were gonna throw up.
“You got this girl, I’m gonna keep watch in case I have to jump in,” Dina whispered loudly. You gave her an awkward smile, appreciative of her support but the sick feeling was getting worse.
You slammed the door open and nearly collapsed. They were fully clothed but Ellie was on top of Lila and kissing her. Ellie turned around, her mouth falling open and her brows furrowing upwards. Lila was giggling until she made eye contact with you. Her eyes went wide with fear. You staggered backwards, your hand gripping your stomach tightly.
“E-Ellie,” you whimpered.
Ellie jumped off of Lila and held her hands out towards you. She said something but you couldn’t hear due to the ringing in your ears. You started to sprint back to the exit, catching a glimpse of Dina leaving her room to go to Lila’s. You skipped down the stairs, busted through another door and barely made it to your dorm in time to vomit in the trash can you had sitting beside your desk. You picked it up and took it to the bathroom so you could clean it later. You stepped out, your hands on your knees as you tried to catch your breath. You could feel a panic attack coming on as the image of Ellie kissing Lila replayed in your brain on repeat. You could hear a voice in the distance calling your name. A hand touched your shoulder and you slapped it away, looking up to see Ellie.
There were tears threatening to spill from her eyes as she repeated your name over and over, as if she was begging you to speak.
“I-I can’t believe you,” you said quietly. “This isn’t… real.”
“Please, it’s not what it looks like honey.”
You kept fighting to catch your breath, trying to figure out how to feel and what to say. You heard a creak and looked up to see Lila slowly stepping in. Rage went through your entire body as if it was an adrenaline rush. There was so much you wanted to do to hurt her. You wanted to scream at her, rip her hair out, strangle her, all of the above.
“Get the fuck out!” you screeched. “I swear to God, Lila, if you don’t get out of my goddamn dorm, I will go to prison for the rest of my life after I’m finished with you!”
Lila turned to Ellie, expecting her to jump to her defense. Ellie didn’t take her eyes off you, her face twisted in pain and guilt.
“Ellie!” Lila whined.
You stepped forward without even thinking about it. Ellie turned and grabbed Lila. She pushed her out the door, slammed it shut then locked it. You stood there, glaring at Ellie as she rested her head against the cool wood. “Fuck,” she mumbled. Her chest ached. She knew she had ruined the one good thing in her life which was you. The only girl she ever loved, who dealt with her bullshit and held her while she cried and laughed with her afterwards. Ellie risked it for no reason. She wasn’t entirely sure how everything got so fucked up.
Ellie backed away from the door, slowly rotating with each step so she was facing you. You were no longer angry. You were watching her but Ellie felt it was as if you were staring through her. You were zoned out completely, your entire body shaking and your breathing fast.
“I’m sorry for avoiding you and… spending so much time with her. It was an accident, I swear,” said Ellie.
“How could you accidentally… kiss someone?” you asked. You decided to focus on the floor instead, Ellie’s face was too much to look at right now.
Ellie stayed silent, pacing back and forth in the room muttering to herself.
“When did it start?”
“Um, when she invited me to movie night,” responded Ellie.
Your heart sank. “Oh.”
“But nothing actually… started. I fucked up, baby, but there was nothing between us. She kissed me that night and I felt weird and awful. She was crying, complaining about her boyfriend and randomly kissed me. I didn’t reciprocate it that night. I stopped her, talked to her about it, and told her she’s just upset.”
Ellie stepped closer to you until she was a couple inches away from you. “Before our date, she was helping me pick out something to wear. I didn’t lie about that. But she’d kiss me on the cheek and I let her. When you left because I was late, I confided in Lila and we did… some stuff.”
“Stuff?” your voice cracked.
“Over the clothes,” Ellie sniffled as a tear fell down her cheek. “I felt awful so I got you that card.”
“So awful you had to go back.”
“It wasn’t for that at first, please believe me. I went to tell her we had to stop being friends. Then, I went back to my dorm to be alone. I wanted to figure out how to tell you so I was gonna call you but I left my fucking phone,” she sighed. “Goddamn it. I’m so fucking stupid. She invited me in. I should’ve waited outside.”
You felt a buzzing in your pocket and pulled it out to see a text from Lila. You chuckled dryly. “That’s funny, Lila just texted me. She had me blocked when I tried calling before I came by.”
Ellie’s eyes widened. You could see the panic written all over her face, her shoulders moving up and down quickly as her breath sped up.
“W-What is it?”
“A video?”
Ellie reached out to take your phone but you slapped her hand away and stepped back. “Why do you wanna see it so bad?”
“Just-Just let me see and I’ll delete it for you!”
“No, I want to watch.”
Ellie’s hands went to her stomach, watching as you played the video. You dropped your phone to the ground, realizing Lila sent you a video of Ellie kissing Lila’s body all the way down until… well, you didn’t watch that far.
“Please,” Ellie sobbed. “I’m so sorry.”
“You’re wearing the same outfit right now that you were wearing in that video.”
Ellie grabbed your wrists, bringing it up to her chest as she continued to plead with you. “It was only one time. I swear, I’m so sorry. I love you s’ much. I-I’d die without you. Baby, look at me. Please.”
Ellie pulled your face up to hers, your neck and body stiff as it settled in that Ellie was probably fucking Lila before today. Ellie peppered kisses all over your forehead and temple, muttering between each one how much she loved you and wanted to spend her life with you.
“I-I love how red your cheeks get when you-when you get embarrassed,” whispered Ellie as she planted a kiss on each one. “I love how you’re always putting chapstick on so that your lips are soft for me.” She kissed you but you didn’t do it back. “I-I love the way your chin wobbles so much when you cry over cat v-videos.”
She looked down at your arms, her tears now landing on them. “I love how you wrap your arms around me when you s-sleep. Your hands, God, I love how soft your hands feel o-on my body.”
Ellie closed the space between the two of you and slowly laid you on the bed, crawling over you and staring deep in your lifeless eyes. “You always looked at me so full of love.”
Ellie leaned forward, little whimpers falling out of her lips. “Where did it go?”
Ellie’s lips were soaked as she kissed you. You finally opened your mouth and kissed her back, her tears seeping between your lips and landing on your tongue.
“God sent his favorite angel to save me,” she whispered between kisses.
You broke the kiss to cry, Ellie using a finger to brush off each drop. She gently shushed you. “Please don’t cry,” she said. Her voice was raspy. She sounded completely broken.
“You kiss me and I taste someone else, Ellie…”
Ellie’s face dropped in anguish as she bawled harder.
“You have to go,” you weeped. “You c-can’t do this to me.”
“But I love you. I-I’m gonna make it right.”
“I’m not sure if you can, Ellie.”
Her name used to taste so sweet in your mouth. Now, it made your throat burn.
You gently pushed Ellie off of you. “You lied to me,” you uttered. “It’s unforgivable.”
Ellie turned away so you couldn’t see her break down. She looked around the room to see some of her clothes littered on the floor. She began to gather them together, sobbing softly.
Before she turned the knob, she stopped and glanced behind her shoulder at you. “I’m going to make this right. No matter what you say, even if thirty years from now you hate me. I will keep trying until I die.”
She left, the air in the room thickening as your brain replayed memories of the good times with Ellie. The flowers she’d pick for you on walks, her smile, her laugh, her cooking the nastiest food you ever ate. You squeezed your eyes shut as a desperate attempt to just live in those memories. You’d wake up tomorrow and none of this would’ve ever happened. You’d tell Ellie about your nightmare and she’d assure you that you were the only girl for her. You got up and picked up a shirt she had forgotten. You held it to your face, breathing in deeply and losing yourself in her scent. You slowly started to fall to your knees and onto your side. You curled up with her shirt and slowly drifted to sleep, the sweetest dream of Ellie hugging you taking the ache in your chest away.

MONDAY – TUESDAY
Tumblr media
You nervously bit your lip as you considered going out the threshold, your right hand hovering over the doorknob as your thoughts went haywire. You knew what was behind – or rather, who was –, you knew you had to do something about it because you’d been having a stupid crush on the hot owner of your new workplace for a few months now and you just couldn’t seem to get him out of your system – and yes, it didn’t help that you literally saw him every day.
But honestly, who could blame you? Heavily tattooed – logical, seeing as he literally owned a tattoo parlor –, pierced, with long black hair and sparkling brown eyes, he surely was everyone’s dream man come true.
You wanted to do it right, go right to him, act cool and mysterious, and subtly ask him out while he smiled sheepishly, cheeks red at your forwardness.
But you knew you couldn’t, that all of this was in your head. For one, he was absolutely not the type to blush. He was the type to make people blush. Second, Suguru was the most popular one at the shop, and considering you also worked with certified heartbreakers like Satoru and Toji, it was something to say. But how couldn’t he be? He was sweet and charming, a smooth talker. He always had the right words and had to be the most patient man you’d ever met.
And of course, he was also smoking hot. It also didn’t help that all you managed to do when you came in less than a three-meter radius from him was act clumsy and stutter like a newborn learning how to speak. You were definitely aware of the situation. The fact that he was way way out of your league. And you’d have discarded the thought of asking him out if Satoru hadn’t infiltrated your mind and set your heart racing when he’d whispered to you that someone he knew was planning on asking his best friend out this Friday.
“I mean, have you seen the guy?” He’d said, a knowing smirk on his lips, “You have ‘till Friday to make a move, or you’re fucked.”
Today was Monday.
It was Monday, and of course, you still hadn’t said a single word to him. Sure, you two often found yourselves talking about work, new designs you’d come up with, and you had made sure to come to him every time you needed some advice, – and surprisingly, he’d also started doing so, setting your heart on fire every time he came to you –, but that was it. You two had never hung out together outside of work, even though you often had nights out with the others.
You shook your head and turned the doorknob, deciding you were going to stop acting like a schoolgirl with a stupid crush because it was honestly embarrassing. But then you saw him and immediately went back on your words.
God, he was just so effortlessly perfect. Who were you kidding? You could never stop acting this stupid when he looked like this.
He looked engrossed in a conversation, slender hands busy taping against the screen of his phone, a small grin on his lips, and you immediately considered going back inside. You were cringing inside, wondering what you were thinking coming back there when he was clearly busy.
But superior forces must’ve had other plans for you, because before you could make a hasty retreat inside the shop, your foot caught on a loose cobblestone, causing you to stumble and knock off a stack of empty crates.
You froze, the crates clattering and crashing to the ground. If he hadn’t heard you before, he sure had now. You sighed, lifting your eyes to see him, a cigarette casually hanging from his lips, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he beckoned you over with a nod and an amused smile. You looked left and right to see if he was calling someone else over, but quickly realized there was no one else outside. Your head turned to him, cheeks burning from embarrassment as he chuckled at your action. “Care to join me?” He added with a smile, before taking a long drag out of his burning stick.
You bit your lip and complied, leaning against the wall right next to him, as you tried holding in violent coughs, the smoke hurting your lungs. You were silent and must have been staring at the cigarette he was gracefully holding too intently, because he suddenly held it out to you, “You smoke?”
You melted at the sound of his voice, rich and gentle. And, no. No, you didn’t smoke. You absolutely didn’t and you’d never even wanted to try it.
So you couldn’t understand why the hell you were telling him that yes, you did, that you were an expert at rolling blunts at that, like you’d done this your entire life, when even the fruity smokes from fairs made you sick to your stomach. But… you didn’t want to tell him that no, that you found it repulsive at best. Besides… you kind of wanted to try it, now. See why he loved it so much. It couldn’t be that bad if he did, right?
You weren’t sure about that. But honestly, you didn’t even care if it gave you the chance to stand that close to him and share a moment, as short and insignificant as it may have been, with the man you’d been pining after for a while now.
You accepted the cigarette when he handed it to you, clumsily gripping it between two fingers as you stared at it hesitantly. You didn’t know how you looked right now, but you hoped you came across as at least a quarter as confident as he did. You know you didn’t, because as soon as you took your first drag, you started coughing uncontrollably, the smoke burning your throat as you gasped for fresh air.
“Definitely an expert at this, are you?” He teased, his focused gaze not leaving your form one bit as he took the stick back from your hand to place it between his plush lips. He took a long drag before exhaling the smoke in your direction, and his eyes crinkled with amusement as he watched you try not to cough it all out. His lips curled into a playful smile, tongue coming out to swipe at his bottom lip as he watched your flustered form. You were just so damn cute.
“Don’t worry,” he said, voice lower, “smoking’s not for everyone. I’m sure you must be an… expert, at something else.” He winked, his gaze lingering longer than necessary as he took you in from head to toe before he met your eyes once again.
Your breath caught in your throat at the implication of his words, heart racing as you tried to decipher what he must’ve meant by that. Surely it was innocent.
…Right?
The man suddenly straightened up, his playful demeanor shifting as he glanced at his watch. “Well,” he sighed, “break time’s over for me.” He casually tossed the half-smoked cigarette to the ground, crushing it under his Doc Martens boot.
You nodded at him with a smile, but couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment at the prospect of the conversation coming to an end so soon. This was the longest you’d ever found yourself alone with him, and you hadn’t even come close to asking him out. But before you could say a word, he met your eyes with a knowing smile.
“If you ever want to experience new things, though…” he dragged out, hawk eyes not leaving yours, “you know where to find me.” The suggestion hung in the air long after the door swung shut behind him, and you let yourself slide against the wall of the alley, lightheaded. A few words from his soft lips had been all it took to make you lose your cool.
Oh, you were so fucked.
…And you still hadn’t confessed. Damn you, Suguru Geto.

[Todd Ingram x Female!Reader]
Synopsis: You might've broken your leg due to Todd, but that didn't mean you couldn't still have quality time together.
WC: 2672
Category: Hurt/Comfort, Fluff
This was such a random plot I came up with, but I’m actually in love with it. I feel that this little one-shot is 100% Todd accurate (I say little but it’s literally 2k words lol).
Also, please don’t send the vegan police after me for my inaccuracies (lmao). Google was my only option 😭😭
『••✎••』
Spending time at the hospital wasn’t the plan you had in mind for your Friday night. You expected it with you curled up on your couch watching whatever crappy reality show that was airing with Todd by your side.
He was always the perfect person to binge with; his reactions were an endless source of sarcastic commentary. It actually made it funnier.
But you couldn't be too upset. You still had Todd, and you had… some television. Sure, it wasn’t 90 Day Fiancé, but it was better than nothing.
Usually, when it came to broken legs, you were at the hospital for two hours. Two. Hours. Not you, of course. Your boyfriend had to be a vegan and have those whacked-out powers. It was a given that there’d be an accident.
Who knew a flying amp could be so hard to catch?
At least you didn't have a concussion. The only injury was your leg, but your leg was completely messed up. Three different fractures in your femur and a torn ligament. It was the most you had ever been injured in your life, including all those times you fell off your bike or when you broke your arm in third grade.
The doctors at the hospital said that they couldn't let you leave until Monday. Surgery was also still on the table and could happen as early as tomorrow, which you definitely weren’t paying for
So, you were stuck in the hospital, eating the terrible hospital food and watching stupid television.
And the worst part about all of this was that it was slowly taking your mind off of Todd.
It was only the last couple months when the two of you started dating. Neither of you were exactly serious or anything, but you had feelings.
He was a big guy and a real sweetheart, not to mention a badass with those powers of his. It was obvious that he had a good heart, and he didn't take shit from anybody. That included you.
You had to admit that it was cute when he got jealous. He never had to worry, though. You were never interested in guys like him. You had your eye on Todd, and now you were stuck in a hospital bed because of him.
Now that it was just a memory, the moment you broke your leg was pretty comical. Envy needed a rehearsal before their band went out on tour the following week, and since you and Todd planned the night out together, you attended their quick practice.
As usual, they were awesome. You were like a little fangirl when Envy started singing. You kept your cool, though, sitting on the couch while they ran tempo and entrances. You weren't paying too much attention either, until you heard a voice and turned your head.
Lynette, the drummer, apparently had a very salty day and decided to pick fights with Envy’s ideas. She even suggested that she should learn how to write songs. That was a big no-no when it came to Envy, and it was made very clear that it would be her last comment for the day.
It was a blur, really. Envy and Lynette were throwing insults at each other, and Todd was caught in the middle of it. He was pretty bad at confrontation when it didn’t technically involve him and so he usually let it slide, but something about Lynette had pissed him off this time.
You could still remember the words he said.
"You know what I hate about you? Your hair."
You giggled, and that was your mistake. Lynette absolutely loved her hair. That haircut was her pride and joy. Todd could never understand what it was about it, but it was Lynette's favorite feature.
So, when he insulted her favorite thing in the world, she immediately started attacking your boyfriend, causing you to go over and try to stop this before it escalated.
Well, it escalated. Todd subconsciously went into “vegan mode” when he was mad. It was a defense mechanism or something like that. In any case, an accidental movement of his hand had an expensive amplifier aimed right at your leg.
Envy saw it coming and screamed his name to get his attention, but he couldn’t hear her over Lynette, and you couldn't move out of the way fast enough.
And then, everything stopped. All you felt was the excruciating pain that was apparently your broken bone, multiple places, as you later found out. Your mind went blank for a moment as all the horrified expressions of each band member turned towards you.
Todd threw the amplifier aside with his powers, profusely apologizing to you. His hair settled back down to normal as he took you in his arms.
"Oh, god, am I an idiot." He said. "I didn't mean to… oh, man, you’re okay, right?"
You were on the verge of tears when you nodded your head. The adrenaline of the moment had taken over your pain as you wrapped your arms around his neck and squeezed him tight.
Envy most definitely cursed him out on your behalf. Lynette was still pissed as she stood off to the side, crossing her arms with a huff. She didn’t really know you, so she didn’t really care that you got hurt.
But Todd knew you, and he cared a whole hell of a lot about you. He was going to be making up to you for a while. You were going to get the apology of a lifetime and probably an entire chocolate cake with strawberries. You loved strawberries.
You did not care about your injury at that moment, though. The scene of Todd apologizing to you, Envy yelling derogatory words at him that were obviously unknown to him, and Lynette's head turning in the other direction was probably one of the best sights you had ever witnessed in your life.
“How’re you feeling?” Todd’s voice snapped you out of your memory. He was in the chair beside you with a hospital pillow on his lap. He had a bag of Doritos in his hand, which he was munching on.
You turned your head over to him and couldn't help but smile. It was a smile full of love and adoration, one that made Todd raise an eyebrow.
"I'm alright," you replied, reaching for the water that was by your bedside. You failed miserably, but Todd noticed it and hovered it over to your hands.
He took the opportunity to grab another chip and take a bite before looking back at you.
"You sure you're okay? I mean, you got hurt 'cause of me.”
"That's what I get for dating a badass, I guess." You laughed, shaking your head.
Todd scoffed, "That's not funny."
"It kinda is."
"Whatever." He crossed his arms and pouted a little bit. "I'll have to watch my back more now. I could have killed you."
“It’s okay. Envy would’ve reunited us if you had. She would’ve torn you a new one. I'd say you dodged a bullet there.”
As Todd munched on his Doritos, nodding along to your words, you knew there was nothing in his brain that connected what you’d just said. He was most definitely agreeing, just to agree.
And just because of that, you couldn't help but admire him. He was sitting there with his messy hair and those brown eyes of his. His clothes were wrinkled, and you could see the tiredness in his eyes, but none of it mattered to you because he was still so beautiful.
Todd being a vegan was also a blessing because it gave him such an amazing physique. He was lean but toned, his abs always visible even under his baggy shirts. Not that you cared if they were showing or not.
"Can I have a chip?” You asked him.
He turned towards you with a look of horror on his face. "You don’t like these. You like the non-vegan Doritos.”
“Aren’t they all… not vegan?”
Todd let out a sigh, his eyes rolling back.
"Not these. Spicy Sweet Chili. I got these from the vending machine. They're for me."
He sounded like a little child, which you couldn't help but laugh at. He always was so serious about these things, even though they were snacks that were meant to be shared with people.
"That's not what I asked." You said.
"Yeah, but-"
You made grabby hands at him. You were starting to feel that pain again as your muscles were getting tired. You needed those chips.
"Todd, please."
He let out a sigh, trying to hold back a smile. He was always such a big softie for you.
He handed over a bag of chips, and you wasted no time in taking one. Immediate regret as you took a bite out of the spicy snack, choking as you did so. You managed to swallow it down before taking in a drink of water to wash it all down.
"Told you that you wouldn't like them." He said with a grin.
"I… like them. I just don't like how I feel after I eat them."
"Mhmm.”
You glared at him, narrowing your eyes. "Stop being smug."
"I can't help it if I'm so cool." He winked.
He wasn't wrong, though. Todd had a very good self-esteem about himself and was never shy to tell you so. But it was the way he said it, that smug look of his and his stupid wink, that made you want to punch him and kiss him.
It was those little things.
"You know," you said as you crossed your arms, "this isn't how I planned on spending my Friday night."
"I know, babe. I know."
"I mean, I thought we were going to have some quality time. The two of us and the TV, I really wanted to catch up on that old Ed and Rose storyline.”
"I know, I know.”
"And instead, I'm here with and because of you." You glared at him as you finished your sentence.
He was ready for your attack, crossing his arms to match yours. You two were in the middle of a staring contest when Todd opened his mouth to say something, but the nurse came in at the worst possible moment to interrupt him.
"Ah, you're awake. How're you feeling?”
Unfortunately, this made Todd win the battle as you were forced to look at the nurse. She had a smile on her face, one that made you feel relaxed. Todd turned to look at her as well.
"I'm feeling better now." You said. "Thank you for asking."
The nurse nodded her head, writing down your words before turning to Todd with a smile. "Since your friend—”
“Girlfriend.” He corrected her, pointing a finger at you.
You couldn't help but laugh, turning your head to the side as you did so. Your laughter got the nurse to smile.
"I apologize. Since your girlfriend is doing better, you’re welcome to visit back in the morning. Visitation hours are from eight to twelve and one to three. After that, only family will be allowed in.”
Todd turned to look at you, and you could see that he wanted to say something, but with a simple nod from you, he leaned back in the chair with his arms crossed, giving the nurse his attention.
She gave him another smile as she looked back at you. "I’ll come back in about an hour for a checkup. Press the button if you need anything in the meantime."
"Thank you." You replied.
She left the room smiling, leaving the two of you to look at each other.
You let out a sigh as you leaned your head back on the bed, closing your eyes. Todd's eyes never left you, staring at you as you did so.
“Should've said we were married. I would've been able to stay the night here." He said.
"Yeah, but then I wouldn't be able to sleep because of your snoring. You know, that's why I get up so early in the mornings. I have no choice but to leave the bed when you're snoozing away."
Todd had the audacity to smile at that, shaking his head.
"Whatever, I don't snore. Besides, you love the way my arms feel around you."
You opened one eye, staring at him. "Are you trying to make me feel bad?"
"No. I'm just stating the facts. I have great arms if you hadn't noticed."
You scoffed at him and his bragging. You closed your eyes again.
"I hate you so much."
"I know." He said with a smirk on his face. “Can I have my chips back now? You ate almost all of them."
You handed the bag back to him without another word, sighing deeply. You could feel Todd's stare at you as he opened up the bag again.
You heard him take another chip into his mouth as he stared at you, but he was too quiet, so you knew he had something else to say.
"What?" You asked, already knowing the answer.
"You know that I meant it when I said sorry, right?"
"Of course I know, Todd. You always apologize."
He swallowed down his chips. "Yeah, but this time I really meant it. I was so scared when you got hurt. I didn’t mean to; I just got pissed at Lynette, and that all happened."
"Todd, it's okay. I know you didn't mean it. You would never hurt me."
"You're sure?" He asked.
You opened up your eyes again, looking at him. He was staring down at his lap as he said those words, biting his lip. You could tell that he was genuinely worried about this, so you reached over and made grabby hands again, but instead of the chips, you were looking for him.
Todd looked up at you and raised an eyebrow. He placed the bag of chips aside and got out of his chair, going over to the side of the bed to look at you. You placed both of your hands on either side of his neck, smiling at him.
"I'm positive. I know how much I mean to you, Todd. You don't need to worry. I'm not mad at you."
He was looking right into your eyes as you said that and nodded his head, moving closer toward you as he placed his hands on the side of the bed. You didn't want him to be too far away from you, so you wrapped your arms around his neck.
"I'm just glad you're okay. I didn't mean for this to happen. I swear."
"I know." You replied. "It's not your fault."
You stared at each other for a few more moments before he leaned down and kissed you. He placed both of his hands on either side of the bed as he deepened the kiss. He didn't do this often, but when he did, he knew exactly what he was doing.
He was also extremely careful now that you had broken your leg, making sure that he wasn't putting any pressure on your side. He placed one hand on your face to hold you in place as he kissed you while his other hand supported his body.
It felt like a few minutes had passed before he broke the kiss. He leaned down and rested his forehead against yours, closing his eyes.
"I love you." He whispered.
"I love you too."
It wasn't the first time he said it, and it definitely wasn't the first time you had said it to him, but it was the first time you heard those words without any fear in his voice. There was no worry, no hesitation, only love.
He opened his eyes, looking at you with a smile on his face. His brown eyes always captivated you, especially when he smiled.
You felt your own smile spread as you looked into those beautiful eyes of his, kissing him on the cheek before snuggling up to him.
You felt his hands wrap around your body and sighed contently. Eventually, he’d have to leave, but until then, you were going to enjoy this.
And if it came with spicy chips, then even better.

"Hey, princess?" Eddie started, and you turned from your light conversation with Gareth to pay attention to your boyfriend. Monday’s spat with Gareth was already forgotten by the time you got to lunch on Friday, and he was happy to talk to you. Although you missed the looks that Eddie would shoot Gareth every so often, it was fine; what you didn't know wouldn't hurt you.
"Yeah?" you prompted Eddie.
"I'm meeting a friend tonight," Eddie started. "And I was wondering if you wanted to meet him too."
"Who?" you asked.
"Well, do you remember Steve Harrington?" Eddie said, and you gasped and nodded. Steve had been your crush since freshman year, with his big puppy-dog eyes and amazing hair, and, even though you liked Eddie a whole lot, Stevie still had a special little place in your heart. Before Eddie, you always hoped that Stevie would be your first kiss. "I was gonna hang out with him. How'd you like to meet him?"
"Oh, Daddy!" you exclaimed and threw your arms around Eddie's shoulders, squeezing his neck in a tight hug. "I'd love to meet him! Will he, um, will he like me?"
"Well, what's this shyness?" Eddie chuckled. "Why do you care if Steve likes you?"
"Um, b-because he's your friend," you said quickly. "A-And I want your friends to like me."
"Do you like Steve?" Eddie asked, and you ducked your head as you fluttered your eyelashes. You always got out of trouble by fluttering your eyelashes, and you watched as Eddie fell victim to them. He softened under your grasp, and he said, "Of course you do, girls love the Hair. I've told him all about you, baby, and he's dying to meet you."
"Really?" you asked. "Well, umm, okay! I-I'd like to meet Stevie."
"Cool," Eddie said. "It's just at his house, me and you and him. We can go straight there after school, it's not like he's got anyone waiting for him." Gareth smothered a laugh at that, and you furrowed your eyebrows.
"Oh, no, not then," you said. "I wanna go home and change clothes, a-and I wanna..."
"You wanna what?" Eddie asked, and he put a finger under your chin, lifting you up out of your hiding place. "Princess, I hate when you trail off like that. Just tell me what you're thinking."
"I wanna bake him cookies," you said softly. "But, umm, not if you think it's lame or whatever."
Eddie laughed, his smile a mile wide as he leaned forward and kissed your mouth. He tasted like the cigarette he had just smoked as he had skipped pre-lunch gym period, but you liked it. "That's not lame, princess," he said. "Steve will love it."
"Oh, yay!" you smiled. "Umm, maybe you can pick me up at my house after 5? I'll get home after school around 3:30 because I have to take the bus, and getting dressed, and the cookies'll take—"
"I'll be at my place," Eddie interjected, interrupting your ramblings. "Give me a call whenever you're ready to go and I'll be there to pick you up. Alright?"
"That sounds good," you said, and you chewed at your bottom lip, still trying to calculate in your head how long the cookies would take. "Does Stevie like chocolate? Could I make chocolate chip and he would like them?"
"Baby, you could spit in those cookies and he'd love them," Eddie said, popping a pretzel into his mouth. "Just 'cause they're coming from you. Don't worry your pretty little head about it, yeah?"
You tried not to worry about it for the rest of the day, but you were practically shaking with excitement at the prospect of meeting Steve Harrington. You wondered how Eddie and Steve had even met, but you didn't care all too much about it; all the stars were aligning for you. Your boyfriend was friends with Steve Harrington, and that's all that mattered to you.
Once you got home, you instantly started on the cookies, greeting your mom with a kiss on the cheek as you slumped your backpack down and got to work. "What're you making?" your mom asked, and you shut the fridge door with your foot, your arms loaded with the milk and eggs.
"Cookies!" you said. "I'm going over to a friend's house and wanted to bring them something."
"That's nice of you, honey," she said. "Remember not to burn the bottoms."
"Okay!"
In the end, the cookies came out perfectly, the bottoms only just a little crunchier than you would have liked, but you heeded Eddie's words that Steve wouldn't mind if there was a little something wrong with them. You spent the next hour getting ready, putting on your favorite pink dress and doing your makeup and hair to be perfect, and you finally smoothed down your skirt and called Eddie.
"Jesus, Steve, we just got off the phone," Eddie answered, his annoyance thick in his voice. "I told you I'm bringing her, chill out."
"Um, hi, Daddy," you said, your heart lodging in your throat. "I-I'm ready for you to come get me."
"Oh," Eddie sighed. "Hi, princess. Give me a minute and I'll be on my way, okay?"
"Mhm," you agreed. "Is something wrong?"
"No, nothing's wrong," Eddie said. "Steve's just acting like a dick. He really wants to meet you, that's all."
Your excitement made your hands shake. "I'm excited to meet him too," you said, and Eddie chuckled.
"I bet you are, princess," he said. "I'll be right over. Can you be good and wait outside for me? I kinda don't want tonight to be the night I meet your parents."
"Sure," you said. "I get it, meeting the parents is scary. Or, like, I think it is. I'm scared to meet your parents. Like, what if they don't like me?"
"My mom would love you," Eddie said, his words clipped as if he hadn't even meant to say them. "She'd... She would've loved you."
"And your dad?" you mumbled.
"Fuck my dad," Eddie said flatly. "I don't care about him. Hopefully you never meet him. Anyway, I don't feel like doing that tonight, so wait outside for me, okay?"
You did as Eddie told you to, waiting outside on your curb for him, your cookies in a Tupperware container in your lap. Eventually, after waiting for much longer than you thought it would take, Eddie's van pulled onto your street. You could hear the music from outside the van as he pulled up next to you, and you watched him lean over and push open the passenger side door. The music got louder and you cringed at it, but you climbed in all the same and buckled up your seatbelt.
"Hey, princess," Eddie said, twirling the knob on his radio system and silencing his music. "Sorry, I like it loud."
"That's fine," you said. "It just hurts my ears."
"Aw," Eddie pouted, and he pulled the van into gear as he peeled away from your house. "We don't want your ears hurting. I'll keep it quiet."
He didn't drive as badly as you had anticipated he would, and you felt safe with him. You always did, though— Eddie had a way about him that made you feel safe and loved. You weren't even a little bit shocked to find that you liked Eddie a whole lot, maybe even loved him, but you were sure that he didn't love you back yet. You didn't want to tell him anything before it was the right time, though, and scare him away. You had always heard about that sort of thing in movies, girls telling boys that they loved them and "scaring them away".
All too soon, you were pulling up in front of a nice house in a nice neighborhood, and you gripped your Tupperware tightly as Eddie got out of the van, pocketing his keys. He was quick to run around to your door and open it for you, and you giggled at him as you hopped out. "Thank you, Daddy," you said, but you watched as Eddie's face fell as he turned to Steve's house, eyeing the carport and the two cars that sat there.
"Jesus Christ," he mumbled, and he snatched up your hand, leading you up to the front door. He knocked quickly a few times, and you watched his teeth grind in that way that they did when he was annoyed.
"Did I do something wrong?" you mumbled, and Eddie shook his head.
"Not you, baby," Eddie said. "But Steve said—"
Before you knew it, the front door flew open, and there stood Steve Harrington. You were starstruck and felt your eyes go wide, wide, wide at the sight of him, wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt, his perfect hair done just so. "What the fuck?" Eddie asked.
"She just fuckin' showed up," Steve huffed. "I didn't invite her. And she brought Robin too."
"Robin..." Eddie sighed. "Fine. Whatever. We can do it after they leave."
"Once they see her with you, they're never gonna leave," Steve said, gesturing to you. "Fuck, dude, I can try to get them to go—"
"Who?" you asked softly. "Who's here? Did I do something wrong?"
“Baby, I told you, it’s not you,” Eddie said firmly. “Nancy Wheeler’s here. You know Nancy, right? She’s in your class. She showed up uninvited.”
“That’s not very nice,” you frowned.
“See? Even she knows it,” Steve sighed, brushing his hair back in annoyance. “Sorry, baby. I’m Steve.”
“I know,” you said, holding back your giggles, and Steve smiled, looking at Eddie.
“Well, she’s adorable,” Steve said. “I like your dress. Very pink.”
“It’s my favorite color,” you told him.
“I bet it is,” Steve grinned. “What’re you holding there?”
“Cookies!” you said proudly, holding out the cookies to him and grinning. “I made them just for you. But I only made enough for the three of us…”
“See? Nancy’s a bitch,” Steve said, working open the Tupperware’s lid and pulling a cookie to his lips. “Doesn’t think about anyone but herself.” He bit into it and your heart stopped as you waited for his reaction, and you sighed when he smiled. “Delicious, baby. You’re gonna have to make me cookies more often.”
“Anything for you, Stevie,” you told him, blushing hard, and Steve reached out and touched your cheek.
“Someone’s got a little crush,” Eddie said, almost like he was explaining you to Steve, and Steve grinned.
“That’s so cute,” Steve said. “I get what Eddie was talking about, you’re just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.” Then, he leaned forward and pressed a kiss to your cheek, and you squeaked and froze. Steve Harrington had just kissed you on the cheek! You tried to hide your excitement from Eddie, but Eddie just smiled and laughed at your antics.
“Alright, enough kissing my girlfriend,” Eddie said. “Let’s go inside, yeah?”
You nodded, stepping inside and toeing out of your shoes, and you followed Steve into the depths of the house. His house was big, bigger than yours, and you clutched Eddie's hand as you followed the two boys down to the basement. There, there were two recliners facing a large television, a full VHS system plugged in, a movie paused. You had known that Steve's parents were rich, but the finished basement and subtle expensive luxuries (you wondered how much a TV that size costed) were more than you could have imagined.
And standing by the TV were Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley. Nancy looked as annoyed as Steve and Eddie were, her arms crossed and her foot tapping, and you almost missed the way her eyes softened when she saw you. "Oh," Nancy started. "Who's this?"
"Eddie's girlfriend," Steve said quickly. "Now, I told you I had plans and shit, so why don't you go ahead and—"
"I'm Nancy," the girl told you, sticking out a hand towards you. You looked at Eddie, biting your bottom lip, and you were quick to shake Nancy's hand and tell her your name. "I know you; we were in Kaminsky's class together a few years ago."
"Oh, yeah," you said softly. You had hated chemistry and tried everything to forget it, and you seemed to have successfully forgotten about being in the same class as Nancy Wheeler. "I forgot, I guess."
"You and Eddie, huh?" Nancy said. "How did you meet?"
You stuttered for words, looking from Nancy to Eddie. His words still rang in your head, how people would make fun of you if they knew how you and him had met, and you were sure that Nancy would be one of the ones to do it. She had always seemed a little stuck-up, and it frightened you. "U-Um, I bought weed from him," you said. "And we just started talking, y'know?"
Eddie patted your back as he stepped from behind you, following Steve into a separate room, and you sighed a little when the door to the room closed. "Is that it?" Nancy asked. "You don't really strike me as the type to smoke."
"Um, I'm not," you said. "But my friends, they wanted me to buy it last week because they said that Eddie would like me and give me a discount."
"Did it work?" Nancy asked as Robin raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah," you said. "I ended up not paying for it."
Nancy shifted uncomfortably, and you did the same, feeling strange under her gaze. "Well, what did you do?" she asked. "'Cause Eddie wouldn't just not let you pay."
"Umm..." you started, looking at Nancy, then at Robin, and your shivering got too great. You needed to tell somebody, if for nothing else than to just share it. Keeping the secret was torture for you, and you were bursting to share it with someone. "You can't tell anyone, okay? Eddie said people would call me a... A, umm, what's it called? A slut. He said people would call me a slut."
"Oh, sweetheart," Nancy started. "What did Eddie make you do?"
"He didn't make me do anything," you said firmly. "I wanted to do it. But he asked me to lift up my shirt and show him my..." You hesitated to use the word that Eddie had, but Nancy's eyes went wide all the same in understanding.
"And you did?" she asked, and you nodded. "Oh my God, I can't believe him!"
"That's so fucked up," Robin said, frowning greatly. "I always told you that I didn't like Eddie, and here's why."
"I thought maybe there was something redeemable there," Nancy said. "But taking advantage of her like this—"
"He didn't do that," you told her quickly, fear flashing in your heart. You knew what 'taking advantage of' someone meant, and Eddie hadn't done that to you. "No, no, Daddy would never!"
"You call him Daddy?" Robin asked. "Does he makes you do that?"
"No," you said. "I-I thought it was cute..."
"What else has Eddie done?" Nancy asked. "Has he made you do anything else? Like, things you didn't like or didn't wanna do?"
"Well," you started. "Umm, we had a really weird phone call last Friday where he asked me what I was wearing and then told me he spilled something and made a mess. He was just acting funny, and it made me a little worried. A-And on Monday, he kissed me but I kinda wasn't ready for it. I, umm, always wanted Steve to be my first kiss, but that's okay; I'm not dating Steve, I'm dating Eddie."
"What a perv," Robin grumbled. "You know it's fine if you want to break up with him, right?"
"No," you said quickly, shaking your head. "I don't wanna. Da-Eddie is nice to me. I mean, sometimes he makes me wanna cry, but nobody can be totally nice all the time."
"What does he do?" Nancy asked. "Because boyfriends aren't supposed to make you cry."
You shrugged, picking at a thread on your dress. You felt like you had done something wrong and was being berated and punished for it, and the tingle of tears hit your face again. This time, though, you didn't hold them back. "M'sorry," you whimpered. "Please don't be mad."
"We're not mad," Nancy said quickly as Robin reached out towards you, and she took the Tupperware of cookies away and held your hands tightly, comfortingly. "Sweetheart, we're not mad at all. We're just making sure that Eddie's being nice to you, that's all."
"Daddy's nice," you mumbled. "I promise. Just sometimes he hurts my feelings."
"But boyfriends shouldn't do that," Nancy said. "Trust me, I know."
"Oh, yeah," you sniffled, remembering another reason why you didn't really like Nancy. "You used to date Stevie." Maybe it was childish to hold a grudge against her for dating your crush, but you certainly did.
"Right," Nancy said.
"And she was miserable," Robin interjected. "We just don't want you to be miserable, y'know?"
"Mhm," you mumbled as the door to the side room opened again, and Eddie came out with a smile on his face. The smile was wiped, though, as soon as he saw your sniffly nose and red eyes.
"Are you crying?" Eddie asked, coming to you in an instant, putting an arm around your middle. "Why're you crying, princess? Did Nancy say something?"
"No," you hiccuped, but Eddie shot Nancy and Robin a dirty look anyway.
"Get out," Eddie said. "You show up here uninvited, you upset my girl, the fuck's the matter with you?"
"You need to take a good, long look at yourself if you're asking what's wrong with me," Nancy spat back. "You are taking advantage of this poor girl, and that's not okay, you need to—"
"Nancy, you need to go," Steve added. "C'mon, it was funny but now you've made her cry. Nobody wants you here anyway."
"Fine," Nancy said. She turned to you, though, as Robin gave you back your cookies, and she said, "If you ever need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to talk to us. Alright?"
"Okay," you sniffled, cowering into Eddie's chest, and he set a kiss on your forehead as Nancy and Robin gathered their stuff and left, sending searing stares to the boys the whole time.
"Aw, princess," Eddie cooed softly once the door upstairs slammed shut, and he smoothed his hands down your face, cleaning up your tears and smeared makeup. "Nancy's so mean, isn't she? It's okay, you shouldn't cry over her."
"She-She was saying such bad things about you!" you hiccuped, and Eddie hummed softly as he held you while you cried. "I tried to tell her that y-you aren't mean, but she wouldn't believe me!"
"I know," Eddie whispered. "Now you see why Steve and I don't like her."
"It's okay, baby," Steve added, and he pressed a kiss to your hair. It felt nice for the boys to be holding you and kissing you, and you sniffled back your tears as Eddie pulled you down to one of the recliners, moving to the side so you could have the bulk of the chair.
"You were so good, though," Eddie said. "Standing up for me and everything, that was very sweet of you."
"O-Of course," you said, wiping your nose. "I won't let anyone say anything bad about you."
"Good girl," Eddie said. He angled your head up to face him, and he kissed your mouth softly for a moment before he titled his head and deepened the kiss, letting his mouth fall open against yours. You followed his lead, not really sure exactly what you were doing, and you squeaked when Eddie pushed his tongue between your open lips and into your mouth.
"Daddy?" you mumbled, and Eddie's arms wound around you, his hand settling on your ass.
"It's okay," he whispered. "This is how boyfriends and girlfriends kiss each other. Just like this..." He kissed you again, his tongue pushing past your lips once more, and those tingles from last Friday returned to your belly.
You were acutely aware of Stevie still in the room, sitting in his own recliner, and, when Eddie's messy kisses moved to your neck, you craned your head to look to Steve. You jumped a little when you saw how intensely he was watching you, his eyes never leaving your face, and you started, "Stevie?"
"I'm right here, baby," Steve said easily. "Don't you wanna show me what a good girl you are for Daddy?"
Eddie's lips on your neck made you shiver, and you nodded. "I'll be good," you said, and Eddie smiled into your neck.
"I know you will," he said. "Do you wanna pull down your dress and show Steve your tits? He's been dying to see them."
You started to nod, but one thing stopped you: Nancy's words about how apparently wrong it was that Eddie had seen your tits. Even though he had said not to listen to her, a small part of you had, and you squirmed underneath Eddie as you considered that, if it was wrong for Eddie to see them, then it was definitely wrong for Stevie to see them. "Um, not tonight," you said softly. "Just wanna watch the movie, I think."
"That's okay," Eddie said quickly before Steve could speak. "We can do that. Nothing wrong with that, right, Steve?"
"Right," Steve said, but you caught the edge of disappointment in his voice. "Want a beer, Ed? M'gonna run and grab me one."
Eddie tugged his face out of your neck and resituated you two to better fit on the recliner together, his arm around you as you sat in his lap, your legs dangling over the arm of the chair. "I shouldn't, I'm driving," he said, and he gave your shoulders a squeeze. "And I've got precious cargo. Got any Dr. Pepper instead?"
"I can find some," Steve said, and he stood up from his seat. "Want anything, pumpkin?"
It took you a second to realize that you were pumpkin, Stevie's pumpkin, and you said, "Milk?"
"Milk?" Steve repeated, his eyebrows furrowing.
"For the cookies."
"Oh, yeah," Steve said. "For your tasty little cookies. How could I forget?"

stiles stilinski: breakable heaven; pt. 3, “devils rolls the dice, angels roll their eyes. if i bleed, you’ll be the last to know.”
description: situationship x stiles.
Tumblr media
stiles: hey :)
y/n: hello! don’t let coach see u on ur phone, loser :)
stiles: i know, i know. just thinking of you
y/n: oh?
y/n’s throat tightened. she looked up across the lunch room, past danny’s head. her stare blanked at the wall. he was thinking of her. thinking of her…how? that was a very loaded statement to make. it was…flirtatious. caring. it was a strings attached kind of statement. it was dangerous.
her phone buzzed.
stiles: thinking of that lacey bra you had on the other day, mostly :)
y/n flushed, a red, hot buzz radiating off her skin. she nearly choked on her spit, and had to take a quick sip of water. danny- who was shooting off at the mouth about something during the lacrosse game last friday- barely glanced at her. he kept blabbering.
this? y/n was good at this. she didn’t have to look him in the eye while saying the dirtjest things she could. this was just her, her phone, and her imagination.
y/n: today it’s red
stiles: pics or it didn’t happen
stiles…was not good at this. she didn’t expect him to be. he was awkward, no matter what. but, it took the pressure off of most of the stressful things in life. that’s part of what she was starting to value most in his character.
y/n: come see for yourself ;)
stiles: fuck, i’m in econ!
y/n: excuses, excuses
stiles: no, no, i would if i could, i promise!
y/n: prove it, then ;)
stiles: meet me in the locker room in 5
y/n pocketed her phone, grabbed her bag.
it had been nearly a week since their first time. she thought about it almost every second of every day. it was clouding the heartbreak that had lingered on her like freezing rain. it was loosening her mangled mind.
she hadn’t expected for them to fuck every single day since then. but, neither of them had said anything about it. she was half-worried that she was so terrible, he didn’t want anything to do with that aspect of their relationship. instead, they’d just been texting a lot about other stuff. music, movies, books. they were bonding.
it was cool to have another friend, but god- she wanted him.
stiles had been dealing with his own issues. he, scott, lydia, allison- they’d spent a night tracking boyd and cora, after searching for a week to find them in the vault. it was an exhausting gig, on top of lacrosse practice, the game last friday, homework. he hadn’t had time to really think about getting laid.
but, now, here he was- monday at 12:10pm, during economics, with coach yelling like a banshee- he tried to focus on the chalkboard, on the text highlighted in his book. all he could think about was her. her skin, delicate beneath his fingertips. her lips, so plump against his neck. her legs-
he dumped his shit into his backpack and shouldered it quickly. scott whipped his head towards his friend, concerned. then, the werewolf caught a whiff of stiles’ hormones. scott crinkled his expression, grossed out. but, he shot stiles a half-hearted thumbs up.
coach called after the boy, “hey, next time, let’s try, excuse me, may i use the restroom, k?”
coach continued on with some angry remark, but stiles ignored him.
he made it to the locker room, quickly, nearly out of breath from how fast his pace was. stiles tossed the door open, and it slammed shut behind him. y/n wasn’t visible to him. he set down his bag, “y/n? hello?”
stiles looked around every which corner, but she wasn’t there. he pulled out his phone, and saw a text from her.
y/n: was on my way, but danny made me go stalk the new boy ethan in study hall. i’m so so sorry stiles! i’m totally going to make it up to. what are you doing 6th period?????
stiles’ shoulders dropped. he slouched down on one of the benches, feeling a little blue-balled. then, a second text dinged.
y/n: also here, for now ;) 1 attached photo
he nearly broke his phone. it flipped out of his hand, and he jumped from the bench to grab it before it hit the floor. he fell onto his knees, awkwardly holding the device in the air. the picture stared back at him. she’d slipped into the school bathroom to take a picture for him. for him. stiles.
he fell over, again, this time onto his stomach. stiles groaned, annoyedly, into the concrete floor of the locker room. his life sucked so bad.
the bell rang for lunch.
stiles: all yours, baby. see you, then
y/n, now in history, felt her breath hitch at the text. baby? baby. he called her baby. she knew, a lot of the times, people used pet names when they were sexting. but, this…was strange for a guy like stiles. he wasn’t fluid or, by any means, good at sexting. he wasn’t the type to know to say that. he wasn’t the type to…y/n overthought it every which way that she possibly could.
and, then, he texted her again.
stiles: you are so, so beautiful. 1 attached photo
y/n choked on her spit this time. she dropped her phone onto the desk, coughing hysterically. danny, seated behind her, leaned forward. he patted her back, asked her if she was okay. she gave him a thumbs up, kind of.
stiles was wearing underwear with pickles on them.
and he was very, very hard.
the bell rang, signaling the end of the transitional period, and the instructor began the lesson. y/n took a swig of water. she was sweating a little bit. she was struggling to sit still.
someone’s phone dinged. the instructor called out, “please, everyone, take a moment to put your phones away.”
y/n grabbed her cell, staring intensely at the photo as she slowly, painfully, leaned over to put it in her bag.
y/n: do you know how hard it was to pay attention in class, thinking about you like that?
y/n: i want to take care of you so badly
y/n: i’m in the locker room, where are you?
y/n: please, stiles. need you
stiles phone buzzed, four times, in the back of his jeans pocket. scott, ethan, and aiden glanced over at him. he cleared his throat, scratched the side of his neck.
“let me, just…” he stepped aside from the conversation to look at his phone screen.
his face turned beat red.
he hasn’t forgotten about their plans, but time got away from him. it was 6th period, and he was stuck interrogating alpha werewolves about supernatural shit. it was in times like these, when he wished life was normal. unfortunately, life is anything but.
stiles: i’m so fucking sorry. scott needed me for something. please don’t be mad at me. next period, promise
y/n: you know girls can get blue ball too?
y/n: it’s just easier to hide.
y/n: good luck :) 1 attached photo
oh, fuck.
7th period.
y/n was marching towards the locker room. she dumped her book bag at her locker, intending to be done with school for the day, since her next class would be her free period. she had one very important, very…big thing on her mind.
y/n was just around the corner from the locker room when a voice called out her name. she skidded to a stop, shoulders tense, and a huff on her lips, where stiles’ should be.
“y/n…the bell rang four minutes ago,” miss blake spoke, looking pointedly in y/n’s eyes.
y/n smiled, so painfully fake, “yes, ma’am.”
“so, you have one minute to get to my class on time. yet, you seem to be headed for the locker room. do you have a late pass?” miss blake was on her high fucking horse today, it seemed.
y/n shook her head, lips pursed in annoyance, “no, ma’am.”
“oh, silly me, then,” she rolled her eyes in a funny manner, “you must just be turning around then. here, we can walk together?”
miss blake looped her arm through y/n’s, and led them towards the english classroom at the other end of the hall.
y/n didn’t get a chance to text stiles back, but she just knew the poor boy was about to burst.
stiles: here
stiles: i can’t wait to touch you
stiles: oh my god i just saw miss blake literally drag you away from me
stiles: i’m gonna die
stiles: don’t even try to apologize, it’s literally not your fault. and i can survive with not getting off for a little while longer. guilt free zone here :)
stiles: but oh my god you’re so fucking pretty
stiles: you look so good today. and your ass looks good in those jeans
stiles: ok have fun in english. text me when you’re out. if you can. please. thanks
incoming call from: y/n :)
“y/n?”
“stiles!”
“speaking?”
“it’s my free period.”
“meet me at my jeep in 5.”
“im already here.”
stiles parked his jeep behind the lacrosse field. he watched y/n climb into the back seat, painfully slow in her movements. she settled onto the bench in the back of his jeep, blushing already, smiling shyly. stiles waited but a second to climb towards her. only he was a million times more awkward about it. stiles clambered through the vehicle.
“oh-!” y/n touched his back gently, assuring he safely made it back there.
his face was close to hers once he was seated. stiles flashed a sweet grin, “hi.”
“hi,” she giggled lightly. “how are you doing?”
“i’m doing swell, thank you,” stiles eyed her lips, the low curve of her v-neck t-shirt.
y/n took a breath to speak, her chest expanding. stiles watched her watched the tops of her breasts move. she barely said, “i was-“
before stiles interrupted, “i am so totally interested in what you have to say, but i really fucking need to touch you and kiss you, so please shut the fuck up.”
the soft sound of the low-volume radio and the idling engine was background noise. stiles’ windows were tinted just enough to dull out the light inside. it was tight, and they struggled against each other more than once. but stiles was more than happy to bend into strange positions so that y/n was comfortable. she didn’t ask him to- but he insisted. he insisted on putting his jacket beneath her head, so she could have a makeshift pillow. he insisted that she didn’t have to give him a blow job, so that she wouldn’t have to squeeze onto her knees behind the front seat. sure, they might have been bare minimum, consensual things that weren’t anything to write home about. but in this day and age, a boy muttering, “‘is okay?” each and every time he moved against y/n was enough to give her butterflies. it meant he cared. stiles cared.
the first time they had sex, it was just sex. they fucked, she went to the bathroom afterwards, and when she got back, he was dressed, ready to leave. stiles hadn’t known what he was supposed to do, but he figured she didn’t want him to linger.
this time, after he pulled out, wrapped the condom, and tossed it into the mini trash can in the front seat, stiles scooted over far enough on the bench to allow her room to lay down beside him. this time, it was heated…passionate. romantic.
y/n wasn’t even thinking, she was just caught up in the moment. she lay her head on his bare chest, ear cupped so she could hear his heartbeat. he was sticky with sweat, and his breathing was quick and loud. but he was warm, comfortable, and…strong. she’d never noticed that before. how defined his chest was. he was a lacrosse player, after all. even if he spent most of the time on the bench, he was still working out.
stiles tensed up under her affection, at first, but he became comfortable soon enough. he peered down at y/n. she stared off into space, and her expression was hidden from him. stiles gently slid his arm around her and the tips of his fingers floated up and down her bicep.
“what’re you thinking about?” stiles found himself saying.
y/n took a breath, regaining some semblance of awareness after she had been caught up in a daydreaming feeling. usually, after sex, she always felt…distanced. like she was behind glass. the air was slowly being sucked out of the box by her own lungs. she was suffocating.
the first time with stiles- it had felt like that, if only because of her internal battle with her feelings for sam. her mind had been racing with over wrung thoughts.
other times, like with sam, it was because the sex had felt like a transaction, like a consummation of some small part of her she’d never get it. this whole new generation was focused on sexual liberation- and y/n was into that. sex was awesome- it felt good. but, that idea completely ignored the fact that, most often, sex between a teenage boy and girl was laced with miscommunication and manipulation.
this time- this time was good. this time felt- liberating. it felt good. she got off. sure, she’d gotten off a few other hands, if only at her own hands. but, this time- stiles had made her feel good. and, she didn’t feel shitty because she wasn’t trying to get some small form of intimacy from someone she wanted to love and have. no, this time it was really just sex. sex with someone kind, considerate, and unattached.
(even if they were cuddling and neither of them wanted to admit how good that felt.)
“not much,” y/n lied through her teeth.
stiles caught a piece of her hair between his fingers and tugged at mindlessly. it tickled the back of her neck. stiles was hoping she was going to say something heartfelt, something sweet. he had gotten his hopes, for no reason. after all, he knew the rules. “fair. uh, hey, listen…i should probably-“
“oh, yeah, no, of course,” y/n sat up quickly, covering herself with his jacket.
they settled, side by side, on the seats of the jeep. y/n shifted awkwardly, reaching across his lap for her t-shirt that shoved between the wall and the seat. stiles reached her direction for his own shirt. they stumbled over each other for a second or two, muttering sorry’s and elbowing sides. then they were holding their respective clothing pieces.
they dressed in silence.
“i’ll drive you back, okay?” stiles offered.
y/n tugged her shirt down her torso, breathing deeply, “uh, sure, yeah. yeah.”
so, stiles drove them back over to the main parking lot. school was just letting out for the day. stiles spotted scott running down the front steps, seemingly in a rush, as the jeep came to a stop beside y/n’s car.
“listen, uh,” she turned her knees towards him, jaw open with a buffering conversation.
stiles wasn’t paying attention, but she didn’t notice. he was too busy watching scott, who was now talking to allison. and, then he saw derek power walking towards them.
“yeah, hey, um, could you send it in a text? i’ve gotta get somewhere. thanks for- that. yep!” stiles popped open the jeep door. he slid out, in a hurry, slamming the door shut before she could get another word in.
y/n sat there, for a moment, in utter shock. she took a deep, unsettled breath.
she needed to call danny.
“yeah, that’s fucking strange.”
y/n plopped onto her bed, rocking danny in his spot beside her. she took a hit from her cart, letting the smoke roll out as she replied with, “isn’t that fucking strange? like, it’s not that i expected we cuddle for twenty minutes and be all cutesy. but, the way he just rushed me out of there? that was weird.”
“maybe he’s pushing you cause he’s scared of having feelings for you,” danny tossed a ball of popcorn into his mouth, shrugging nonchalantly.
y/n rolled her eyes. she shifted onto her stomach, shoving her head into her pillow. “ugh,” she groaned, loudly. “you know, maybe i should end things right now. it’s gonna get complicated, i can already tell.“
“wait, okay,” danny pulled the pillow out from beneath her. she looked up at him. “let’s do a pro and con list before we make any rash decisions.“
“literally why?” y/n questioned.
danny waved her off, “cause it gives me entertainment. besides, it’ll be fun. now, give me a pro…”
she thought, tapped her chin as if it helped, “i think it’s helping me get over sam. i mean, i’ve stopped driving past his work. and i unfriended his mom on facebook. don’t think about him as much.”
danny clapped lightly, “aw, wait, yay. that’s such good news! best pro ever. okay, now, con.”
“um,” she hummed, “maybe…i don’t know. like, it’s complicated. like, it’s gonna be complicated.”
“yeah, but what’s complicated about it? nothing! so, one of you catches feelings- fuck it. you figure it out. i know another pro- the sex if fucking good. it’s making you feel good. you’ve got a goddamn glow about you, babe. you’re getting over bitch boy, you’re moving along. it’s not complicated.”
“i just,” y/n lay her head down again, “i’m just scared of getting hurt again, so soon. i feel like it would wreck me.”
“if you get hurt,” danny set his hand on her arm, “then, we’ll get through it, again. it’ll pass, it always does.“
she smiled up at her friend, only a little encouraged by his words. she still felt off. danny could tell by the distant look in her eyes. “but, you know, if you’re that worried- just end it. don’t continue. don’t put yourself in a situation where you think you could end up getting hurt.”
y/n didn’t know what to say. he was right, both sides of his argument were right. danny was the type of person to always be.
“you know what we should do?” y/n sat up, suddenly, the light bulb above her head aglow, “throw a party!”
danny laughed at her, leaning his head on his hand. “really? you are the last person i’d expect to want to throw a party.”
“i know, but- let’s do it! i wanna get fucked up and just chill out for a night.”
“you know,” danny pointed at her with a smug expression, “that’s the best idea you’ve had all year.”

The final bell rang, it was Friday hundreds of students poured out of the school doors ready for the weekend. Y/N was among the swarm of kids, headed toward her bus. Thankful it was the weekend, this week had been a lot on her. Off in the distance, she could hear her name over the loud voices. Looking around shielding her eyes from the sun, she could see a tall boy headed her way.
It was Sirius
"There you are," he said when he reached her, throwing his arm around her shoulder "Where are you off to?" he asked
"My bus" she pointed to the big yellow vehicle
"C'mon, I'll take you home" he offered
"Really?" she asked
"Yeah, you can tell me all about your day"
They walked to the student parking lot, Sirius drove a black '89 Dodge charger. It was a little squeaky, but he loves that car.
He opens the passenger door for Y/N, closing it once she was in. Sirius Drove the long way to her house so they could talk longer.
"How was your day, dear?" he asks pulling out of the campus
"It was fine, I'm glad the week is over. Everything has been a lot lately"
It was their junior year, everyone is starting to worry about their futures. Their career, college, exams, everything stressful.
"I know what you mean, it feels like we have to know everything about the future before it happens" he replies
They continue their conversation all the way to Y/N's house. They've always been able to tell each other everything without feeling judged. Nowadays, it feels like you have to make sure everything is perfect because the whole world is watching, waiting for you to fall.
He was her safe place, and she was his.
Sirius pulls up in front of her house, parking the car.
"Thanks for the ride, Sirius" she says opening the car door
"Of course, love. Hey, do you wanna hang out tomorrow?" he asks
"Yeah, sure I'll ask my parents. I'll text you" she answers
"Great, I'll see you soon then" He smiles
"Bye" she says closing the door.
He waits for her to go inside before driving off like he does every time. He sees her almost every day, but he still gets excited when they hang out. It's like a new experience every time, even when they've done it one hundred times before.
-
When he got home, he waited anxiously for her text. Her parents have never said no before, but it still made him a little nervous. He's made sure over the years that her parents liked him, he didn't want them to think he was just some guy who was only hanging out with their daughter to get in her pants.
He started his homework that probably won't get finished till Monday morning, checking his phone every few minutes.
Finally, after what felt like an hour, she texted him
parents said it's cool What did you have in mind?
Movie? Wonka is still showing. Stay at my place after?
Timothee Chalamet? HELL YEAH! Definitely down for a sleepover
 Great! I'll pick u up at 4
See you then! <3
He was happy that she could come, he liked being able to get out of the house and escape with her. Everyone has family issues, his family was distant from each other. It was almost like they were roommates, not a family. His parents didn't care if he was gone or if he had someone over.
His brother stayed in his room most of the day when he got home from school. Their bond was limited to short interactions in the dining room on special occasions.
Y/N was his real family, she was always there for him whenever he needed her. At school, many people claimed to be his friend, they'd say hey in the hallway or talk about some game that happened the night before. None of them would actually have a real meaningful conversation with him.
He didn't get why he was so popular, he was sociable and easy on the eyes sure, but nobody knew the real him. It seemed like they had all made a false version of him in their heads. A mysterious ladies' man who could have anyone he wanted.
That wasn't true at all, he wasn't a mystery at all. He was very open once you got to know him, only Y/N had ever made the effort to do so. The whole 'ladies' man' thing was really funny to him. He'd never had a serious girlfriend, a few dates here and there but nothing real.
Many of those girls thought that him and Y/N had a thing going on so they would stop talking to him completely. At first he didn't know why they would think that, he thought their friendship seemed very platonic. Then he realized some of the things they would do seemed a little too friendly.
That didn't stop him. If he was honest, he didn't care about those girls at school. If there was only one girl in the world and he had to pick her. It would be Y/N. Always Y/N.
-
Saturday came around, Sirius waited all day for 4 o'clock. He didn't like to be late, he pulled up in front of her house a few minutes early so he could greet her parents.
Turning off his car, walking up to the front door. He rings the doorbell that has a little camera on it. A few seconds later, her mother opens the door
"Sirius, how are you, dear?" she asks bringing him in for a hug
'I'm great, Mrs. L/N. How's everything?"
"Everything's fine, Y/N should be ready by now." she told the boy "Y/N, Sirius is here!" she yelled up the stairs
She came down the stairs, a small bag in her hand.
"Sorry, had to make sure I had everything, are you ready?" she asks Sirius
"Yeah, I'll see you later, Mrs. L/N"
He and Y/N get in his car, driving to the local movie theater.
That movie was almost 3 hours long, but that's okay. They didn't mind sitting in a dark room together in silence. It was much later, the sun was starting to set when they headed towards Sirius' house.
His parent's car wasn't in the driveway thankfully, awkward hellos are never fun. They realize they're starving and order take out.
Once it finally arrives, he takes her up to his room. Passing by Regulus' room, she could hear gunfire from some video game.
"Don't mind him, it's like he's married to the game. Hardly comes out the room" Sirius explains opening his bedroom door.
It was relatively clean, only because he knew she was coming over. His walls were lined with movie posters from the 80s and now, some of his favorite vinyls, and photo booth pictures of him and Y/N from various locations.
He made sure his space represented him. The real him.
They spend the next couple of hours eating and watching random videos on youtube until they got bored of it. Putting on Evermore on as background music as they talked.
Both of them are sitting on the floor, Sirius leaning against the wall, Y/N against his bed
They jumped from topic to topic as the night progressed, getting into the more personal topics. A few weeks ago, Y/N started talking to a boy named Kevin. She seemed to have liked him until she stopped talking about him.
Sirius had been curious about that for a while, he thought it was a good time to ask
"Whatever happened to that Kevin guy? I thought you two were getting serious" he asks
"Oh him? That's long gone" she shrugged, "He said he just didn't feel anything for me" she explained, she didn't show it but she was a little hurt by the boy's words.
"Oh my god, he sucks. Anyone would be more than lucky to have you" He was mad that anyone would treat her like this. "Fuck that guy"
"It's alright, I didn't need him in my life" she wanted to get the topic off her "What about you? Anyone new in your life?"
"Nah" he smiles "I don't want anyone new, honestly"
"What do you mean?" she asks
"I'm happy just having you in my life, sometimes I wish it could always just be you and me" he says in a low voice
"That would be great, honestly. Just us against the world" she agrees
"Y/N?" his voice barely above a whisper, fidgeting with a ring on his hand
"Yeah?"
He swallowed before replying, "I think I'm in love with you"
"What?" she laughed nervously, he got up and sat next to her
"When I think of my future, having a family and owning a house, you're there right next to me. I've tried to convince myself that it's only because there isn't anyone else in my life" He pauses searching her face for any sort of bad emotion "I know now, it's because I don't want anyone else in my life but you"
Y/N's brain was all over the place, trying to figure out what to say. Sirius has been her rock for so long, she had a small crush on him. She didn't think he would ever reciprocate it
"I don't know what to say" she admits
"That's alright, you don't have to say anything. If you're willing, maybe we could see if this goes anywhere?"
She reaches down grabbing his hand, lacing her fingers with his. "I think we can make it work" she smiles "After all, we're still getting married at 30 right?" she laughed
"Right Right. A pact is a pact, dear" he smiles
She gives him a small kiss on the cheek, slowly pulling away. Their faces were dangerously close together, warm breath fanning against their skin. Y/N closes the distance. Their lips perfectly fitting each other, just like they were made for each other.
Sirius pulled away, not wanting things to get carried away. Y/N rest her head on his shoulder
"So, what color should our invitations be?"

this is all too much. anton used to like you? how come he never said anything? you excused yourself from his parents, and made your way to the kitchen.
“hey mom, i’m a little tired so im gonna head upstairs.” you walk in to her drying and putting away dishes, while anton washes them. he looks over you, noticing the tone in your voice along with the look on your face wasn’t because of fatigue, but that something was wrong.
“okay baby, let me know if you need anything.” she walks to the end of the kitchen island where you were standing, giving you a hug goodnight. “anton, why don't you go with y/n upstairs? it's getting late, and I can finish up in the kitchen.” she turns from you to look at the boy scrubbing away at a pot, and he stops dead in his tracks at her words.
“i was just going to head back with my parents once we finished,” he starts, looking at your mom and then at you, not wanting to intrude. he did want to talk to you, but he didn’t want to be in your space if you didn't want him there.
“don't be silly, anton! you two are a couple and are old enough now, i don't have to separate you two” she laughs, and you and anton just stare at each other awkwardly. you were going to tell her to let it go, but because of the unique situation you two were in it was probably the best idea to follow your moms orders. you motion for him to follow you, you both saying goodnight to your mom and then to his parents. you’re walking towards the stairs to go to your room, when anton tells you that he’ll be back to get his bag out of his car.
while he grabs his things, you make your way up to your room. You leave the door open, just in case anton doesn't remember which room was yours. walking to your window, you open it and stick your head out so you can get some fresh air.
what a night, you’re thinking to yourself. you need to calm down. with what happened on monday and what antons parents were telling you earlier, you were just too in your head. too much was happening too fast. why was this affecting you so much? and with that you hear footsteps coming into your room and then a door closing.
“are you alright? you looked a little flushed downstairs” the soft voice calls to you, and you know that its anton.
you take a deep breath before turning to face him. “i'm fine. i am now, at least. I just kind of felt bad for lying right in my mom and your parents' faces. I had to get away from them” your voice is low while you speak, looking to the floor once again to avoid his eyes. he takes note of your body language, seeing that you’re a bit tense and awkward now but he doesn’t want to pry.
“If you want i can sleep on the floor,” he’s placing his bag on the chair by your desk, grabbing something to change into for bed.
“no, that's too uncomfortable. You can sleep on the bed” you say it in a way where its clear there's no room for debate, and he nods.
anton would never admit it to you, but he found you severely intimidating. even when you two were younger, he was always intimidated by you. you carried yourself well, you didn’t take bullshit from anyone, always got your way, and you were stubborn. he was surprised your personalities didn't clash, he felt like you wouldn't want to be friends with someone like him. but truthfully that's what brought you two together. it was like fire and ice, you were the fire and he was the ice to cool you down.
but with being the ice, he was too scared to touch you in fear that he would melt.
Tumblr media
another week passes by, and you feel like you were going insane. You don't know what it is, but every time you see anton, your heart starts racing, your face heats up along with the rest of your body.
when he holds your hand or rests his hand on your thigh when you two were out with friends, you had to keep your composure to the best of your ability. especially when he would subconsciously  graze his thumb across the back of your hand, the action small and going unnoticed to the naked eye, but feeling too intimate for you and you would pull your hand away.
the days that he would come over to your apartment or you would go to his dorm to hang out after classes, you found yourself feeling nervous. especially when you two were at your place, seeing him in your room and in your bed had you feeling like jelly. sometimes he would fall asleep before you, and you wouldn’t wake him up. It would be late, and you would feel bad for waking him up and making him go back to his dorm. you were comfortable enough around him anyways to tell him to move, and he never slept too close to you throughout those nights. a deep part of you wished he did, though. but you don't want to think about crossing that path yet.
a few more days passed, and on wednesday, you went with him to his swim practice so you two could go back to your apartment and order takeout once he was finished. you brought a book with you since you didn’t know much about swimming, and you wanted to keep yourself occupied while you waited.
an hour of practice goes by and lets just say, not a single page of the book you brought with you was read. not like you would be able to focus on reading anyways, seeing how he swam in the water was a lot more entertaining than you thought. along with how he looked when he pushed himself out of the water, full body on display. His broad shoulders, his toned arms and stomach, the droplets of water dripping from his hair down his back, the way he throws his head back to move his hair out of his face-
wait a damn minute.
you needed to leave, feeling hot suddenly. were you really sitting here thirsting over anton? Of course, you always found him attractive. you would be silly if you didn't. But you never had any thoughts about him. and you don't want right now, in the campus pool, to be where you start. You walk down the bleachers, trying to think of an excuse of why you’re leaving the building.
“y/n? you leaving?” anton catches you before you could find him, you turn around to see him speed walking towards you and you almost let out a giggle seeing he hasn't taken his goggles off.
“It’s just kind of humid in here. i'm gonna sit outside until you finish, okay?” you clutch your bag a bit tighter, him standing wet and shirtless in front of you is making you nervous. He’s peering down at you, smiling lightly before he lets you know he’ll be out in around 30 minutes.
you nearly trip on your way out, feeling refreshed once you finally escape the pool room air.
did you really want to date anton? you told yourself you didn't before, but now you weren't so sure. he was the full package, everything you could ask for in a guy. so there was really nothing stopping you. but you two were friends.
he also used to like you back in grade school. key word: used to. What if he completely got over you and wouldn’t even think about dating you now? this was a tough situation, and you don't know how much longer you could keep this up with repressed feelings.
after 10 more minutes of overthinking, you can feel a presence behind you so you quickly turn your body to see anton right behind you.
“you ready?” he’s looking down at you again, hair slightly covering his eyes because of the beanie he wore. his body once again covered up by the baggy hoodie along with the black sweatpants he wore. You would never be able to guess how built he really was under the clothes he chose to wear.
you realize you might be staring a little too hard for a little too long so you give him a nod. “yeah, let's go” and he’s taking you by the hand while you follow him to his car.
he drives you two to the nearest food place you guys could agree on. you two agree on getting wings for tonight, and then make your way to your apartment. once you enter, you see sky sitting in the living room. she gives you a look only you two would be able to understand, with anton right behind you.
sky greets you two, and anton greets her back while you take off your shoes and then make your way into the kitchen. you grab two sodas, and walk out to where anton was standing. he was usually a bit awkward around your apartment if you weren’t telling him where to go, too scared that he would touch something he shouldn’t.
following you to your room with the food, anton shuts the door softly behind him. the boy was already in comfortable clothes, taking a shower before he left the locker rooms after practice and made sure that he brought something he wouldn't be uncomfortable in. You were still wearing a pair of jeans and a cute crop top under a zip up hoodie.
“i'm gonna change in the bathroom, you can pull the food out and put something on the tv,” you tell the boy sitting on your bed, and he hums in response while you leave the room. walking over to the bathroom down the hall, you take this time to relax yourself.
you quickly change into a pair of shorts and an old tshirt, and you walk further down the hall to the living room to quickly talk to sky.
“are you fucking him tonight? let me know so i can put in my headpho- ow!” you pinched her arm before she could finish her sentence.
“i am not fucking him! i just came out here to tell you that i'm gonna talk to him about it”
“okay, but if there's a change of plans let me know!”
truthfully you were going to tell him about your feelings, just not tonight. maybe friday, you got invited to a party that sohee was throwing at his frat and you know that anton will be there too.
you walk back into your room now, seeing the food laid out and a movie ready for you as you get situated next to anton on your bed. he put on some action movie, which was a genre you both equally enjoyed. being around anton was comfortable. you two were able to sit in silence, laugh, and talk without any judgments.
This could either end really good or really, really bad.

Mark left you on Monday, and now it’s Friday. You didn’t expect to feel his loss like this—as if he truly is a fundamental part of your life. He’s done with you, and it’s something you’ll have to learn to live with.
In reality, you’re not entirely sure what brought all of this on. Or what made that switch in him flip. Although it doesn’t matter anymore, not when he hasn’t even reached out in the slightest. You see him active on socials, talking to Jaemin or Haechan, but he doesn’t mention you or even talk to you.
You briefly contemplate asking one of the boys, but if he’s done with you, you refuse to look like the desperate one. You just wish you knew what the hell was going on. Every time your phone goes off, you rush to grab it, hoping, praying it might be him.
Four days is a hell of a long time for him to go no contact. Mark isn’t usually a casual hook-up guy either, so getting random texts from him throughout the day wasn’t weird. For some reason, your heart sinks every time you realize it’s not him.
You’re in a pair of shorts and a T-shirt, sitting on your couch and watching your favorite TV show, when you get a phone call. Seeing his name on your screen has so many emotions racing through you—excitement, anger, confusion. You want to talk to him about anything he wants, but you also feel as if you deserve an explanation for his outburst.
“Hello,” you answer, shifting to cradle your knees to your chest.
“Can I come over?”
Wow, straight to the point. You scoff. “You’re kidding, right?”
“No.” He shuffles around with something in the background. “I’m so hard right now, and no matter what I fucking do I can’t get off. I’m convinced I’ll never cum again unless it’s inside you.”
You want to be mad at him. Truly. He hurt your feelings Monday night, but that doesn’t change the way the deep tenor of his voice travels from the phone and into your skin. It sends shivers down your spine and wetness to your core, forcing you to clench your thighs together.
“You can be mad at me all you want, but I know you. You’re already wet for me and I’ve barely said anything. I bet if I touched you, you’d be soaked.”
“Mark—”
“For the love of God, can I come over or not?”
Your brain says no. It screams at you, in fact, but nothing can overpower the ache for him between your legs. Your body is conditioned to spending almost every night with Mark. At least five nights a week. You didn’t necessarily have sex every time, but Mark has always been insatiable. It was often enough.
“If you’re not here in five minutes, I’m going to bed.”
“Oh, thank fuck,” he groans. “I’m outside, babe. I’ll be up in a sec. Unlock the door.”
He hangs up, leaving you barely any time to regret your decision before you open it for him. Once he appears down the hall, you walk back into your apartment. You run your fingers through your hair, anxiously awaiting his approach.
You’re in your kitchen by the time you see him. While you aren’t expecting to be happy about his presence, you certainly aren’t expecting the pang of sadness that floods your chest. You avoid his gaze, even looking at him entirely.
Soon enough, the small of your back is pressed into the granite countertop, his body slotted between your legs as if he belongs there. His hand trails up your arm, the tender, gentle touch leaving goosebumps in their wake. The tip of his finger finds your chin, tilting your head up.
His eyes are dark, a beautiful mahogany you find yourself lost in more often than you care to admit. Mussed hair is parted down the middle.
“Look at you.” Mark clicks his tongue. “You’ll never get enough of me, will you?”
“You’re the one who called.” You raise your eyebrows at him.
He recognizes that move. A taunt. A request, even.
“I missed you, baby,” he whispers. “I tried so hard to stay away from you.”
His close proximity to you has you refraining from rolling your hips into his. Both of you are so conditioned to each other, movements are mostly habit now.
“Did you miss me?” He leans closer, fresh mint laced in his breath. “You can’t even stand still, I know you want me.” He presses his clothed hardness against you, smirking when you dig your nails into his forearm.
“I let you in, didn’t I?” You let out a shaky breath, hoping he’ll do something soon.
His fingers lace through your hair, gripping the back of your head and yanking it back. You yelp, mentally cursing how it turns into a sigh the moment his lips graze your neck. His teeth nip at your skin.
“Your pulse is racing,” he mumbles, moving up to your earlobe and taking it gently into his mouth.
“Mark.” You reach down and palm him through his sweats. “Get a fucking move on.”
“Where to?” He thrusts into your hand slowly. “Whatever you want.”
Without another word, you pull your shirt over your head. He watches you hungrily, wetting his lips before they part slightly. Following suit, he throws his on the other side of the room, giving you the second he knows you need to admire his body. After, he slides his fingers into the band of your shorts and tugs downward, taking your panties with them.
He grips your hips, hoisting you up on the counter before practically falling to his knees. Looking up at you, he places his hands on your inner thighs, spreading them apart to make room for him.
“Look at you,” he coos. “I was right. Fucking soaked.”
You open your mouth to scold him for taking so damn long, but that’s exactly when his tongue flicks your clit. A moan slips out instead, which has Mark growling against you.
He finds your slit instead, obscene slurping sounds following as you squirm under his ministrations. God, he’s acting like you’re the first meal he’s had in weeks. You grip his hair, tugging gently. He whines into your core. Your stomach flutters and a knot tightens in your stomach as his nose nudges your sensitive bud while his tongue fucks you.
“Close,” you warn him.
He doesn’t stop. He takes your clit into his mouth and pushes two fingers inside you. If you weren’t so caught up in him, you would’ve been embarrassed by the scream leaving your lips. You try to close your legs, but he spreads them further, into an almost uncomfortable position.
He chuckles against you as you fall apart, body spasming as your orgasm floods through you like a tidal wave. You ride his face through it, chest heaving as you hold onto the countertop for dear life.
When he stands, his lips glisten against the dim lighting of your kitchen. You stare at him, breathless, craving to feel him inside you. Leaning forward, you tug at the waistband of his sweats. He kisses you roughly, helping you push them down to the floor. You taste yourself on his tongue as it dances with yours, but it does little to deter you.
“Tell me you need it,” he hisses, guiding your hand to his cock and helping you jerk him off.
“I need it, Mark.” Your voice shakes with need and you scoot closer to the edge of the counter.
As soon as you feel his tip against your entrance, he wastes no time sliding in. You stretch to accommodate him, the feeling making your eyes roll into the back of your head. Needing more, you roll your hips to take him. He slides his hands beneath your ass, squeezing it as he bottoms out.
“Could fuck you all night,” he groans, biting down on your shoulder to keep himself quiet.
When he starts thrusting, it feels like euphoria. His skin slaps harshly against yours, both of your grunts and pleasured sounds mingling together, all of it’s enough to make you forget Monday night ever even happened.
You’re so lost in him, you almost don’t realize when he picks you up. He holds you to his chest and walks to your couch. He sits, leaning back against the cushion. With a swift movement, he unclasps your bra and dips down to take your nipple in his mouth. He’s seated deeper inside you like this. While his tongue flicks, you grind down.
“What are you doing?” you ask.
“I want you to work for it,” he says, teeth grazing you. “Show me how much you want to cum.”
You lift yourself up, whimpering at the slick sound following. Gripping his shoulders, you set a steady pace for yourself, letting your head fall back as he squeezes your breasts.
“That’s it, baby,” he says through clenched teeth. “You take me so well.”
You call out his name. Gyrate your hips. He knows you need more, but he’s clearly enjoying himself too much.
“Mark, for fuck’s sake,” you whine.
“Tell me what you need,” Mark commands.
You settle on his lap, sticky wetness between both of you, and grab his hands. Keeping your eyes on him, you lead his right down between the two of you, pressing his thumb into your clit, and guide the left up to your throat. He wets his lips as he digs his fingers into the sides of your neck.
You start bouncing on him again, the lack of oxygen heightening your pleasure. He rubs you as you take him, and your legs start to shake the closer you get to the end.
“Fuck, cum for me.” His eyebrows furrow, jaw quivering as he admires you on top of him. “Cum on my cock.”
The bubble inside you threatens to burst, and all it takes is one more circle on your clit. You practically scream, moving wildly on top of him as you throw your head back in ecstasy. Mark’s eyes flutter shut, a loud moan escaping him as he tugs you down to cum deep inside of you.
You fall into his chest, both of you sweaty and sticking to each other. Gulping, you put your hand on his face, rubbing his cheek with your thumb. Neither of you says anything until your breathing calms.
“How the fuck do I live without you?” Mark asks, running his fingers through his hair. “Good fucking God.”
Your heart sinks. “What are you talking about?”
The look he gives you is everything you need to know. You curse under your breath, lifting yourself off of him and rushing over to the kitchen with shaky legs. Blinking back tears, you pull your clothes back on.
Mark follows you in, but you throw his shirt and sweats at him.
“Get the fuck out.”
“Wait a second.” He frowns, pulling his underwear and pants on. “I don’t even know why you’re upset—”
“You’re a fucking idiot.” You tug both hands through your hair and knock a cup off the counter into the sink. “Who do you think you are?”
“What are you even talking about?” Mark recoils, face scrunching in shock.
“You fuck me Monday night, then you say you’re done. Now you’re back here, only telling me this is still over after you fuck me. What the hell is your problem?” You feel like your body is on fire. Even after all this time and all you’ve been through, you want to hide yourself from him.
“You’re not good for me.” He shakes his head. “We’re not good for each other.”
“I think you’re missing the point.” You lean on the counter, immediately moving backward when you remember earlier. “I thought you’d at least have some respect for me, Mark. You’re not supposed to fuck girls before you leave them, you know? Kinda hits the self-esteem.”
“Why?”
“I’m not explaining to you why you should be a decent human being—”
“You know I dream about you?” He steps closer. “I go to sleep at night and all I fucking dream about is you. I’m not doing this to hurt you. I just can’t do it anymore.”
You gulp, trying to find something other than him to stare at. “Go, then.”
“Is that what you really want?” He tugs his shirt over his head. “If you want me to go, I will. But I’m not coming back this time.”
You let out a short laugh. “You need me. Whether or not you ever admit that is on you, but you’ll regret walking out on me a second time.”
He frowns, chewing on his bottom lip. “Sure.”
Without another spoken word, he turns away from you and heads toward your door. Thousands of thoughts are exchanged between the two of you. Your heart wants you to beg him to stay. You want to fall to your knees in front of him and make him stay, but you know better.
He touches the knob, glancing back at you once.
As the door closes behind him, your legs buckle. You hold yourself up with your grip on the counter, but eventually allow yourself to slide to the floor. Once the shock wears off, tears well in your eyes.
After a year, that’s all you’re worth to him? You’ve given yourself to him countless times, and even though you’d consider him a friend, the only thing he considers around you is his dick.
You promise yourself you’ll let him go. That you won’t chase him since he’s so complacent about you anyway.
And honestly, you last for a few days, but you’ll never have enough of him.
You call him before the fucking week is through.

Not Romeo, Not Juliet
Chapter 3: This Fierce Vein
Fandom: Red Hood
Pairing: Jason Todd x f!Reader
Warnings: none
Summary: Jason is Hamlet...and he's terrible. Extra practice leads to new discoveries
There is no following her in this fierce vein
— A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, ACT 3 SCENE 2
Things Jason had expected when he auditioned for Bludhaven Prep’s theater production of Hamlet: 1. A sophomore would be Hamlet, his audition was amazing even if he had tripped getting onto the stage, 2. Chelsea would be Ophelia and that poor sophomore would have to pretend to love her, and 3. He would coast by in the background without anyone noticing him. What he did not expect was to roll up to rehearsal Monday morning only for the cast list to say Jason Todd…Hamlet. Apparently, he had been good and now everyone in the group wanted to know who he was. He groaned, already feeling the eyes of the freshmen on him, trying to calculate what they could say to him to make him think they were cool enough to be friends. Theater wasn’t a huge deal at this school, but it was big enough that the leads were popular, and Jason had no interest. He went to the director, trying to talk them out of casting him but they held firm.
“Mr. Todd, you were a natural, excellent. I really think you could do this professionally and I don’t say that to many people,” the director said, setting a mark on the floor before looking at him. “I know it feels like a lot of pressure, but you were made to be Hamlet.” O great, he was meant to play a madman who dies, well guess he did die once, at least that he knew he was actually good at. He sighed and just nodded, going and waiting for rehearsal to start.
By the time practice was over he was pretty sure they were reconsidering his casting. He had been terrible, missing cues, flubbing lines that he knew by heart, not focusing. He felt the restlessness he had felt ever since the pit flowing through him. He didn’t want to be there, he wanted to be out, hitting something, getting this energy out in the most violent way possible. The other seniors were packing up, asking him if he wanted to go out, maybe run lines with them.
“No, after Friday I honestly don’t want to hang out with you guys ever again,” he said honestly, voice having an edge that clearly frightened them.
“Don’t have to be such a dick. We were just getting payback,” Jackson said. Jason looked over at him, eyes blazing green, and growled at him. The three of them scampered off and Jason collapsed into one of the theater seats, frustrated. He needed to rant about this. Maybe Dick could get him out of being Hamlet, use his money to drop Jason down to something else.
“Nope, sorry kid, I think you should do this play and be Hamlet,” Dick said over dinner that night. Jason sighed.
“Why? I was terrible today, I don’t think I’m cut out for being an actor,” he mumbled, pushing a meatball around his plate. He had been so annoyed about play practice that he had overdone the meatballs, they were dry, just another fuck up on this perfectly fucked up day.
“O come off it Jason, you spent six years acting,” Dick said. Jason looked at him confused. “You were Robin from ages 10-16, so in that time you were either pretending to be Robin or pretending to be Jason Todd, you’re an actor.” Jason frowned.
“Who was I pretending to be?” he whispered. Dick looked at him, eyes softening. That was the question anyone associated with Batman would ask, what was real? The person or the mask? “Who are you pretending to be? Dick or Nightwing?”
“I’m not always sure,” Dick admitted, clearing his plate. “Maybe being in this play, trying to act, will help you see who you were before you died.”
Rehearsal was pushed from Tuesday to Wednesday that week but it didn’t help. Jason was still a mess, trying so hard to get it right. He kept hearing Bruce’s voice in the back of his head. ‘You’re not listening Jason’, ‘Dick could have done this on the first try’, ‘You can do better’. When rehearsal was over the director pulled him aside.
“I can see that you’re distracted,” she said. Jason wanted to lie but he just nodded. “Is there something going on at home? I know that you live with your older brother.” Jason didn’t know why but this woman reminded him of his mother. He barely remembered her, but he did remember that when she wasn’t strung out her eyes were soft, care would radiate from her when she was sober. This teacher had the same kind eyes, the same warmth her. It made him loosen his normally tight lips.
“No, nothing like that, he’s great. Just ya know, wasn’t always a good family life. I let down my dad a lot before I…moved,” he said, stopping himself before saying ‘died’. The director nodded, understanding.
“My mother was overbearing when I was young, always thought I was a disappointment,” she said, leaning on the stage next to where he sat. “I would hear her voice in my head, just disparaging me every time I did anything. A big test, performance, dance recital, always her telling me I would screw up.”
“Does it ever stop?” he asked. She looked at him, eyes full of sympathy and he nodded. “Does it get quieter?” She nodded.
“Once you really give yourself over to what you’re doing the volume goes down. Instead of thinking about your father when you’re acting, try thinking about Hamlet, what he is feeling. He didn’t have your father, imagine what his father was like. Use that to fuel your performance,” she said. Jason nodded. “I will see you Friday at rehearsal.” She packed up and left him alone. Jason looked at the stage.
“Might as well run through it myself,” he mumbled, standing and going to his first mark. He was midway through the first act when he heard something towards stage right. He walked over, feet making no noise, as he moved through the sets stored in the wings. He came up the prop room and saw YN. She was grabbing the swords they were using and took them out of the room. He stayed behind set pieces watching as she hid the swords, one behind an old radiator, one in a light rigging that had been lowered for repair, just random places. It was the kind of prank that was actually funny. He let out a chuckle, coming out from behind the bridge piece. She froze at the noise, turning and facing him.
“Hello, didn’t know anyone was still here,” she said, setting down the last sword, setting a prop blanket on top of it on the floor. “Well, going to turn me in? I’m sure some teacher is still around. You could really fuck with my chances in the Shakespeare competition.” She crossed her arms, staring him down. A lot of bad people had tried to stare Jason down before, Bane, Poinson Ivy, Two Face….Joker. He hadn’t looked away from any of them, he wasn’t the guilty one, they were, and he would win, but he looked away from YN. This time he did feel guilty. He hadn’t been the perpetrator of that horrid prank at the open mic night, but she didn’t know that. He was there with the people who did it and Jason understand the term ‘guilty by association’.
“I’m not going to tell on you, I’m not a snitch, and I can’t wait to see Jackson whine about his missing sword on Friday,” he said. “But you should probably be more careful, sneaking around here is reckless.” He almost gagged on the word. Since when did he sound like Bruce?
“Me? Reckless? I’m sorry little rich boy, you were just slumming it in Crime Alley, who is reckless?” she demanded. Jason stared at her. “And what were you doing there anyway? Come to laugh at us poor kids? Did those asshole friends of yours send you to find something on me? The new guy gets to do the dirty work and ruin my life?”
“Woah, listen, I don’t give a shit about your life, I was there for….reasons,” he said, not sure how to say ‘I needed to hit people because coming back from the dead had side effects’ without sounding insane.
“Either way, you can’t tell anyone where I’m from, if word got around that I was just some degenerate from Crime Alley…people are mean,” she said, feeling so lame for that. Jason nodded. He understood. If you were from Crime Alley you were a delinquent, you were scum and you could never fix that. It was a label that was hard to wash off. Jason only got out because Bruce made sure of it, money was the only thing to really mover you out of that slum.
“I won’t tell anyone,” he said. “I grew up there too.” He knew that was a bridge too far by the look on her face.
“Ya sure, you don’t need to try to relate to me rich boy,” she said. “Now I’m getting out of here, hopefully I never see you again.” She gave him the middle finger and left through the side stage door. Jason smiled after her, feeling his heart flutter a little. O shit.
Curiosity was driving Jason as he slid down the alley behind Big Belly Burger, red mask on his face. He had seen her working already, walking by the front window casually, hood up, mask on, so she wouldn’t know it was him. He could be anybody, there were plenty of vigilante pretenders in the area, he blended in. He waited until she was finished and followed her down the street. She didn’t live far from her work and Jason snuck into a familiar alley when she went into the apartment building. The same building, he grew up in. He looked around the alley, remembering finding the Batmobile right where he was standing. He still didn’t know how he went from seeing the infamous vehicle to thinking ‘I should get those rims’, but stealing those tires had changed his life and those memories were bittersweet now. He shook them away as he jumped, grabbing the fire escape ladder and hulled himself up.
She lived on the fourth floor he found. He could see through the thin curtains into her living room. She went in, taking off the apron she wore for work and hung it by the door. There was a frozen dinner on the counter, so she grabbed it and threw it in the microwave before approaching the couch where he noticed a thin woman was laying on it.
“Hey mom, how are you?” she asked, kneeling by the woman and gently touching her head. Her mother took her hand and kissed it.
“I’m feeling fine Lady Macbeth,” she said. YN smiled at her. “How was play practice?”
“I didn’t have practice tonight, I went to mess with the Bludhaven Prep stuff,” she said. The woman coughed a little and he could see concern cross YN’s face. Her mother was sick, very sick from the sound of that cough. His heart ached. He could remember that sound, his mother had coughed like that the night she OD’d. It was fused into his brain.
“You didn’t get in trouble, did you? Is that why you’re late?” her mom asked.
“No, one of the guys, that guy from the open mic? He was there, but I don’t think he’s going to say anything. They’re all jerks, but he’s the least jerky I think,” she said. Well, at least she didn’t completely hate him. “And then I had work tonight remember? Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday I work, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday morning I have practice?”
“O, right of course,” her mother answered. YN turned off the TV. “I was watching that…”
“You need to be in bed now, come on,” she said. She slid an arm under her mother and helped her stand before leaving the room. Jason sat on the fire escape for another minute before deciding he had invaded her privacy enough. He needed to get home anyway, Dick would be pissed if he came back and Jason was gone. He trudged home, now even angrier at the other seniors for their pranks. He was going to make it up to YN, he promised that.

“How’s Marcus?” Your mother’s voice is bright and breezy on the call.
You pause a little too long for her liking.
“Is everything okay?”
“It’s fine, mom, it’s just…he’s not himself, lately. I thought we were all set for the holidays - you know how we booked a little cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains - but every time I try to talk about packing or planning, he gets tetchy and weird.”
“Maybe it’s work stress? He does have a lot on. Poor Marcus.”
“So do I, mom, and I’m not taking it out on him. Every time I ask him outright he just says everything’s fine but it isn’t. It’s like he’s hiding something from me.”
Your mother tut-tuts. “That’s not Marcus. He would never keep secrets from you.”
“I wish I could be as confident as you are.”
***
With Christmas falling on a Monday, you and Marcus had planned to take off on the Saturday morning, making the most of the extra days off before the holiday. By Friday night, he’s got the bags ready to load into the car and your refrigerator is groaning with food for the vacation, all ready to be stacked in cool bags for the journey.
Things hadn’t improved much in the time since you’d voiced your fears to your mother. Marcus remained unusually tetchy and irritable, a far cry from his usual sunny self. He insisted he was looking forward to the time away with you, but there was just something off. Something hidden underneath the surface, and for the first time in your relationship he had put up enough defences so that you couldn’t reveal the truth.
Maybe he’s unhappy, you think to yourself. Maybe the vacation is make or break.
Your stomach churns as you imagine five days away with Marcus while he tries to decide if you need to end the relationship or not.
Your phone rings as you’re sorting out a couple of bottles of wine for the trip. Mom. You brush it off, muttering to yourself that you’ll call her later, once the packing is done.
It’s barely two minutes later that Marcus comes into the kitchen, talking on his phone while trying to catch your attention.
“I’ll put you on now…sure. Sure. Well, I’m sure he’ll be okay, I’m so sorry - okay, keep us posted.”
He hands you the phone, mouthing “Your mom”.
“Mom?”
“Oh, darling, I’m sorry… you’re probably up to your neck with packing and sorting for the trip.”
“Just tell me, mom. You wouldn’t call Marcus if it wasn’t urgent.”
“Darling…it’s your dad. He’s had a fall, he’s in hospital, and -”
Your heart drops. “Mom, is he okay?”
She pauses a second too long. “Fine, fine… just hasn’t regained consciousness yet but it’s fine! I just felt you would be angry if I waited until after your trip to tell you. But it’s fine!”
“Mom, you’ve said ‘it’s fine’ so many times I’m pretty sure it isn’t fine.”
“Sweetheart, please just go on your trip and we’ll keep you posted. Okay?”
You become aware of Marcus peeking around the corner, trying to assess your mood from the tone of your voice and your body language.
“Did the doctors say when they think he’ll regain consciousness?”
Another pause.
“They’re not sure, sweetie.”
You look up at Marcus, your eyes looking into his as you tell your mom you’ll be home tomorrow.
***
He swears it’s fine, but you know Marcus is annoyed. Or hurt. Or maybe a mix of both.
Shit, maybe this really was a make or break vacation.
He had offered to come with you, but you dissuaded him, not wanting him to have to be thrown head-first into the madness that was your family - crisis or no crisis.
“I’ll just stay here, I guess.” He casts an eye over the bags in the hallway.
“Babe, no.” You wrap your arms around his waist. “We paid for the cabin and it’s too late to cancel now. It would be a pity not to use it at all. You’ve got that stack of reading you want to do. And, like, when dad wakes up I can come down and join you. What do you think?”
He doesn’t quite meet your gaze. “I guess.”
“I love you, Marcus. I’m so sorry.”
He sucks on the inside of his cheek and kisses you - not on the mouth, but on the cheek. “I love you, too.”
***
When you arrive home in Ohio you hop straight in a cab to the hospital, where your mother and siblings have spent the night keeping vigil. You try not to panic when you see your dad, hooked up to a morass of tubes and wires.
“The doctors say it looks worse than it is,” your older sister explained. She holds out a bag of peppermint candies. “Candy?”
It’s several hours before you realise you haven’t let Marcus know you got there safely, like you promised. Too busy trying to get a clear answer from your mom about what, exactly, the doctors have said, and distracted by trying to track down a doctor to discuss a prognosis.
Hey babe - I’m sorry, I have been talking to my mom and the doctors here. Dad okay, still no sign of improvement but stable. Love you - call you tomorrow.
You spend that night at the hospital, insisting that your mom go home and rest. You watch the dark sky brighten, slowly but surely, as Christmas Eve dawns.
“It’s Christmas Eve, dad,” you murmur, unsure if he can hear you or not. “You’re not in the drunk tank, though,” you joke, referring to his favourite Christmas song, ‘Fairytale of New York’. “Just in hospital. I’ll let you know if the NYPD choir turns up.”
You get up and stretch your legs, wandering into the hallway in search of caffeine and sugar. The hospital cafe is quiet and you grab a cup of black coffee and a donut before returning to your dad’s floor.
Panic sets in when you see nurses moving in and out of his room. One of them turns, spots you, and grins.
“He’s waking up! Can you call your mom?”
By lunchtime, he’s fully awake and talking, grumbling about not being allowed home for Christmas. You duck out later in the afternoon to call Marcus and update him.
It goes straight to voicemail.
***
The hot shower feels like heaven as you rinse away the strain of the last couple of days. Well, some of it, anyway. Marcus still hasn’t answered your calls.
Thankfully, you’ve found a distraction, volunteering to prep some food at your parents’ house that can be easily taken to the hospital for Christmas Day. You slip on a pair of soft old sweatpants and a college hoodie and pad around the kitchen, filling some Tupperware containers with individual servings of cold cuts and salads while listening to the cheesy Christmas show on the local radio station.
You crawl into bed late that night, casting one final glance at your phone.
Still nothing.
***
You stir awake at about two in the morning, roused by a thumping noise coming from somewhere in the house. As your brain adjusts, you realise it’s someone knocking on the door.
You grab your brother’s old baseball bat as you descend the stairs. Can’t hurt to be prepared, after all. And you’re pretty sure this isn’t Santa Claus calling.
You open the door slowly, reluctantly.
A pair of coffee-brown eyes. A soft, uncertain smile. Cheeks flushed with cold.
“Marcus?”
He rubs his hands together and stamps his feet. “Can I come in? Got really cold in the car on the way up here.”
You fling your arms around him as he steps inside, forgetting the strangeness of the last few weeks. “What the hell are you doing here?”
He holds his soft, dark green knitted cap in his hands and looks nervous. Really nervous.
“I… I had to see you.”
Oh, shit. Wait - is he going to break up with you on Christmas morning? While your dad’s in hospital?!
“Ooookay.”
“Baby, I -” He falters. “This isn’t how I wanted to do this.”
He is definitely about to break up with you. And good riddance, because he’s clearly heartless.
“Just get it over and done with, Marcus.”
He takes a deep breath and exhales, long and slow.
“I wanted to have the space to do this at the cabin, y’know?”
“Marcus. Just say it.”
“Baby, I’m so grateful for you - you’re the most incredible person I’ve ever met, so kind, so loving, and -”
You’ve had it. “Marcus - just say you don’t want to be with me. You’ve been weird for weeks. You’re here on Christmas fucking Day, having driven a seven-hour journey to get here. You obviously can’t be with me a minute longer, so you might as well just -”
He has dropped to one knee.
Wait. What?
“I wanted to ask you to marry me.”
Your jaw drops. For once, you’re stunned into silence.
“Baby?”
“I…Marcus. I just…is this…fuck.
He reaches into his coat pocket and presents you with a little box. “Um, do you mind if I stand up again? My knees aren’t what they used to be.”
You chuckle and help him to his feet, before opening the box to find a perfect, simple engagement ring.
“I can’t believe it, Marcus.”
He shrugs. “You seemed sure we were about to break up. I’m sorry I’ve been so stressed the last few weeks, my love. I was just readying everything for a perfect proposal, in the mountains, and I was so worried you’d say no, and then the ring was delayed, and then - well. And then your dad got sick. But he’s awake? I’m sorry, I only just saw your messages. My phone was in the trunk.”
You lift your gaze from the ring. “He’s awake. And I’m sorry, too - I didn’t know what you were keeping from me, and I didn’t even think of this.”
Marcus raises an eyebrow. “You didn’t think I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you?”
You chuckle. “Mmmm. Maybe I thought a man as perfect as you couldn’t possibly want someone like me.”
He pulls you tight to him and kisses you. “Baby, you forgot something.”
You look confused. “I did?”
“You didn’t give me an answer yet.”
Tears shining in your eyes, you slip the ring on your finger. “A million times yes, Marcus Pike. Provided there are no more secrets.”

Do You Think I'm Pretty?
This was a fun prompt to work on. A little difficult seeing as I have never been drunk before so I truly hope I did a decent job. If not feel free to let me know and I will get back to work.
Prompts will be closed from Monday, May 22nd until Friday, May 26th. This to ensure I progress on Miscommunications Lead to Places. (And maybe also my thesis). Prompts that were still send in before May 22nd will be posted throughout the week.
She was drunk. She knew she was drunk. It was bound to happen the second Steve pulled out a bottle of wine. And then the wine was followed by beer. Just to end up with liquor.
It’s not that she really wanted to get drunk. But the battle was over. They had lost, they had won and now they were forced to lick their wounds and move along. Somehow she had ended up on Steve Harrington’s couch, sandwiched in between him and his best friend who might very well be her best friend too at this point. She had declined the first glass of wine, wanting to drive herself home later that night. But then Robin had shifted in her seat and her knee had pushed into Nancy’s thigh and suddenly she needed to numb the tingling sensation in her body. It hadn’t worked.
Nancy sipped her whiskey and grimaced. She should have said no when Steve pushed the glass in her hands but she hadn’t. She had gripped onto it with both her hands as if it was a lifeline. As if it would erase the past few years of torture and grief and regret. With every sip it became clear that it wouldn’t yet she kept drinking.
It might have not erased the traumas of her past but it did cloud her judgment. Or maybe Robin was clouding her judgment. It was hard to tell at this point.
“Robin?” Nancy’s voice was hoarse.
“Yeah?” Robin turned her head to face Nancy and whatever the other girl wanted to say was lost in those deep blue eyes.
“Your eyes are very pretty.” She slurred.
“Oh, thanks, Nance.” Robin ducked her head down and scratched the back of her neck. Nancy missed the look in her eyes and the way it made her feel all warm inside.
“It’s almost difficult to believe I never noticed that before.” Nancy mumbled. “Although it’s hard to look away from that bright smile.” She wasn’t sure what had gotten into her when she shuffled closer to Robin. Their shoulders now pressed together. Nancy could feel Robin’s warmth radiating of her. It was enough of a replacement for the way she had felt moments ago.
“Oh uhm, I- Thank you?”
“And your freckles are almost hypnotizing.” Nancy’s hand slid down Robin’s arm. Her fingers toying with Robin’s.
“Nance…?”
“Yes, Robbie?” Robbie? Where the hell did that come from? Nancy frowned at her own words.
Robin didn’t respond, she just gaped at Nancy.
“Do you think I’m pretty, Robin?”
“I- Uhm. I’m not sure I know what you mean?” Robin stammered.
“It’s not a difficult question. Do you think I’m pretty?”
“I’m either too drunk for this or not drunk enough.” Steve groaned from the other side of the couch before getting up. “I’m getting another drink.” He stumbled over his feet and bumped into the wall on his way to the kitchen.
“Maybe we should have stopped drinking a while ago.” Robin tapped one of her fingers against the edge of her glass. Her still full glass.
Nancy dropped her head on Robin’s shoulder. Simply watching as Robin’s finger moved against the glass.
“Nancy?”
She looked up. Her eyes scanned Robin’s blushing face. “Yeah?”
“What exactly are you doing?”
“I believe I am flirting with you.” It was surprising how easy it was to admit that.
“Oh, cool.”
“You never answered my question. Do you think I’m pretty?”
“I- Yes. I do.”
Nancy could feel a little flutter in her chest. “Do you want to kiss me?”
“Steve could be back any second.”
“That’s not what I asked.”
“Yes, I do.”
Nancy leaned in slightly. “Then kiss me.” She whispered.
“You’re drunk.”
“That doesn’t change how I feel about you.”
Robin hesitated. Her eyes dropped to Nancy’s lips for a second before looking away. “I’ll kiss you in the morning.”
---
Nancy groaned. Her head was throbbing painfully. She really should have said no when Steve pushed that glass of whiskey in her hands.
“Good morning.” Robin sat next to the bed, her knees pulled up to her chest and a shy smile on her face.
“How long have you been sitting there?” Nancy asked.
“Not too long. I just came to put a painkiller on your nightstand. I probably should have left but I- You didn’t seem to be sleeping peacefully and I was a little worried.”
“That’s sweet.” Nancy pushed herself up on the bed. The pills were laying on her nightstand next to a glass of water, as it had been indicated by Robin. She swallowed them down quickly.
“So, do you remember what happened last night?” Robin asked weakly.
“Not entirely. I had a lot to drink.”
“Oh okay, that makes sense.” Robin climbed up to her feet.
“Although, I do remember you promising me something.”
“You do?”
Nancy hummed. “Kiss me, Robin.”
Robin jumped on the bed, crawled over Nancy’s body and pressed her smiling lips against Nancy’s. Nancy held onto Robin’s arms, hoping she’d never have to let go.

King of the Freaks | Part 10

Eddie wasn’t sure what had happened but suddenly Steve was distant. Monday he had bags under his eyes and during Hellfire, he spent it upstairs working on homework he claimed he couldn’t procrastinate. On Tuesday Steve stopped by the table to get a Tupperware container back from Jeff before he disappeared again and he didn’t speak to Eddie once in the few classes they shared. But he did see him talking with a girl that he didn’t know. Jealousy bubbled up but it was not like anything Eddie could do would be enough. It's falling for a straight boy 101. However, the only thing that didn’t change was the short calls after nine.
On Wednesday, Eddie had a plan. And he put it into motion as the bell rang. He'd have a few minutes until he had to be in the next one. “Hey, Steve!” Eddie jogged to meet up with Steve as he exited English. Steve paused, looking back and waiting for him. “Hey,” Eddie said stupidly but it made a small smile appear on Steve’s face. “So, we don’t have school on Friday,” Eddie started and Steve just raised an eyebrow. “We were talking about all meeting up and smoking if you wanted to join us. Well, uh, we were wondering if you wanted to-”
“Host?” Steve offered and while Eddie hadn’t really had a solid train of thought, so, he clung to the offered hand.
He nodded, “Just like hanging out, ya know.”
Steve picked at one of the books in his hand, “if you guys wanted you could just stay the night. Since you’re all already going to be over for Hellfire anyways. Uh-” Steve cut himself off and he looked a little panicked. “Uh, I don’t have any breakfast foods… maybe it’s easier to-”
Eddie threw his arm around Steve, “want to go shopping with me then? After school, we can head over to the store and pick up anything we’d need. We can all pitch in-”
“Money’s not a problem,” Steve waved his hand and he seemed to lean into Eddie. “Sure, yeah, sounds great. You know what they like,” he says softly and Eddie’s heart bursts as Steve looks over at him. Their so close and Eddie’s going to die. “See you after school then,” Steve says softly and ducks from Eddie’s arm, giving him a wiggle of his fingers in goodbye. Eddie needs a second to get his heart to restart.
He forced himself through the rest of the day until he spotted Steve leaning against the van looking so fucking bored. The mean girl inside of Steve crawls out as people give him weird looks. Eddie wants to run over but he forces himself to keep it cool. He didn’t need to scare Steve off just because of the stupid crush.
Steve tried to look unbothered as Eddie reached him. “We can take my car.” He offers and Eddie snickers.
“Why? Do you not like my driving?” He watches Steve’s eyes narrow in the best way. The way that meant he was trying to hold back a bitchy comment. “Come on, why don’t I drive?”
Steve scoffed, “I’m not dying today, come on.” He grabs Eddie’s jacket and pulls him over to the Beamer.
Eddie slips into the passenger seat and leans on his arm to look over at Steve. He was backing out of the parking lot with ease. And while he looked good when he drove Eddie’s van. He looked completely in his element here in his car. Eddie forced himself to snap out of it and he fiddled with Steve’s radio. Steve didn’t even look mad as Eddie fiddled with his stuff.
“So, what are your plans for Thanksgiving?” Eddie asked when the silence seemed to grow awkward. He thinks that maybe if he got used to being alone with Steve, it wouldn’t be so bad. But at this moment he’s used to having others acting as a crutch.
Steve glanced over and shrugged, “I never really celebrated it, to be honest. I think Dustin’s been bothering Claudia, his mom, to let me come over but I’m not really sure.” Steve chuckled, “you’d think I told him that the world was ending when I said I didn’t celebrate it anymore. He started rambling about giving me the best holiday. I think he thinks that he could make this into my favorite holiday if he tried hard enough.”
Eddie smiled as Steve lit up talking about the younger boy. He always lit up when talking about the kids but Dustin was always unique. His whole body lit up when he spoke about the kid. “So, what is your favorite holiday then?” He asked and Steve tensed a little, glancing over at Eddie.
“Come on, you didn’t even let me ask a question. The polite thing to do is switch at the very least,” Steve complained. "Then it's a proper conversation and not an interrogation."
Eddie couldn’t stop the laugh from escaping, “Fine. Hit me with a question, big boy.”
Steve hummed, “what are you doing for Thanksgiving? Are you spending it with Wayne?”
Eddie raised an eyebrow, “wow that was two questions. But I’ll allow it, I suppose. Yeah, me and Wayne usually make a nice breakfast. I can’t cook for shit but I’m getting pretty good at breakfast foods.” Eddie laughs and Steve nods, “It’s nothing special. Afterward, Wayne will go to work because they pay double for it. Then I’ll usually head over to Gareth’s.”
Steve pulls into the parking lot and Eddie turns in his seat to face him, “now, what’s your favorite holiday?”
It makes Steve roll his eyes, “fine. Geez not gonna let it go, I guess.” Steve clears his throat, “I- my family stopped celebrating holidays these past few years honestly. So, I don’t have a favorite or least favorite anymore. But when my Grandpa was around, he’d throw these big parties on the 4th of July.”
“Yeah?” Eddie questioned and Steve got a sad look in his eyes.
“Yeah, it was nice. It um- I was actually born on the 4th, so he’d make a big deal out of it.” Steve admitted and as he turned off the car there was something sad in his eyes.
Eddie reached over and gave his shoulder a squeeze. Steve’s eyes shut until Eddie pulled his hand back, “It sounds fun.” Steve nodded before getting out of the car.
They headed into the store and Steve grabs a basket before looking at Eddie. “So, where to first?” He asks and Eddie grins before leading him further into the store. And Eddie tries his very best to stay focused on the task but he’s never been good in the grocery store. There was always something to stop and look at. Always something that caught his attention and had him veering off to check it out. Normally he always went alone with a list. That way if he got distracted it wouldn’t annoy anyone but himself. However, Steve just glanced over and followed him. Asking why Eddie found it interesting.
Suddenly their basket was full of not just breakfast foods but also weird foods Eddie’s always thought looked weird. Steve even grabbed a dragon fruit. Like anything Eddie thought looked good, was good enough reasoning. It made Eddie’s chest swell and his tongue twist until he couldn’t say a single word. Still, Steve looked over at him with a small smile and grabbed cranberry juice because Eddie rambled about how Grant loved it but Eddie thought it was weird. It made his mouth tingle and Steve explained how he could be allergic, Eddie just shrugged.
“Steve,” a voice broke through the mess that was this trip and Eddie looked back to see an uncomfortable-looking Nancy with her mom, Mike, and a little girl. Nancy’s mom was the one who called out to Steve and Eddie saw Mike roll his eyes, even as he headed closer to Steve like it was an impulse.
“Stevie!” The little girl cheered and wiggled in her mom’s arms until she was put down. Steve easily bent to place the basket on the ground and catch the little girl in his arms.
“Oh my! It’s Holly-berry,” Steve said in a happy tone as he stood and spun her. The little girl giggled and clung to Steve.
He easily held the girl close as the other Wheelers headed over at a much slower pace. “Mrs. Wheeler,” Steve greets and it’s not nearly as happy as it had been for Holly. “Mike,” Steve drawled and got a glare because of it. Then he just gave Nancy a small smile.
“Stevie,” Holly tugged on Steve’s shirt and Steve just huffed a laugh. “Tea party?” She asked and Eddie swore he saw actual regret in Steve’s eyes.
He bounced her to make her laugh again before he said anything. “Sorry, not right now. Maybe another time,” he said and Eddie wondered if it was a lie.
Nancy’s mom glanced over at him from where he stood awkwardly beside Steve. “You’re a Munson, right?” She asked and Nancy glared at her mom for a moment. “I’m Karen Wheeler,” she smiled and Eddie awkwardly shook her hand.
“Eddie,” he says and Steve glances over at him. Then he eyes Karen carefully like he didn’t trust her and it made Eddie grow tense.
Karen doesn’t seem to notice, she just places a hand on Steve’s shoulder, “it’s been so long. We’ve missed having you around.”
Eddie knows he isn’t the only one who notices how uncomfortable Nancy is. Mike looks away like he hates this and Steve just smiles a tense smile. “Well, Mrs. Wheeler, you know you can always call me if you need a babysitter.” Steve shrugs but he doesn’t look at Nancy.
“Please, call me Karen, Steve. I've said it a million times... You know, I still don’t know why you two broke up,” Karen says like it’s normal to bring this up in the middle of an aisle at the grocery store. Her hand is still on Steve, gently rubbing a circle on his shoulder like it was normal. Eddie didn’t like it but Steve wasn’t shrugging it off.
Steve was, instead, smiling. “Well, uh, Karen, it’s because we didn’t work out. Not a big deal,” he bends down, making Karen’s hand slip from his shoulder, and places Holly on the ground. He grabs their basket and glances over at him. “It was great seeing you,” he said softly then did a little sweep with his eyes. “Mike, best behavior, right?” He teases him and goes to walk off but Karen is touching him again.
“What are you boys up to?” She glances at the mess that is in their basket.
Steve clears his throat, and his eyes glance at Karen’s hand. “I’ve got a few people spending a night at mine. So, he’s helping me shop for foods everyone will like.”
Eddie nods, “yep. We should get moving. Bye Wheelers,” then he grabs Steve’s arm, pulling Steve from the others. Steve stumbles a little before righting himself. “We’ve still got to grab bread.” He says to Steve, trying to pull Steve’s attention to him and away from the Wheelers. Steve nods and easily follows after him.
Eddie glances back and Karen had Holly back in her arms, talking with her kids. Both Nancy and Mike looked annoyed at their mom. Eddie looked to Steve who did look a little uncomfortable now that they moved away from them. “Sorry, you had to deal with that.” Eddie offered and Steve glanced over.
He shrugged, “I guess I’m used to it.” Eddie wondered what part he was used to. Being asked about Nancy. Having to talk with the Wheelers even though he’s done with Nancy. People just touching him. Although that might only bother Eddie because he's a jealous little shit.
Steve straightened up and looked over the loaves of bread, “It’s whatever. They’ll always think I broke up with Nancy and it’s fine.”
Eddie’s brow furrowed, “really? But she got with Jonathan right after.”
Steve laughed but it wasn’t happy, “well, I’m the one with the reputation. She’s the innocent girl who dated Steve Harrington, a serial dater. Who would believe that I was the one who got their heart broken?” He didn’t look at Eddie but Eddie desperately wanted to grab and shake him. Tell Steve that he believed. That he saw him. Even through all those walls he had, Eddie saw him.
“Anything else we need?” Steve questioned, turning towards the checkouts. Eddie shook his head and followed silently. They got their couple of bags before heading out to the car. Eddie headed to the trunk but Steve stopped him. “Uh, it’s full back there.” He said before he opened the back door. He placed his bag inside and gestured for Eddie to do the same. Eddie shoved the bag in and shut the door.
The drive back to the school was quiet this time. Steve’s mind was somewhere else as he pulled into the parking spot next to Eddie’s van. “Right, well, see ya tomorrow,” Steve said awkwardly. Eddie hopped out but before he got into his van he stopped. He turned and knocked on Steve’s window. Steve looked confused as Eddie opened his door. “Eddie?” He questioned and Eddie gestured for him to get up. He did as requested and as soon as he was standing, Eddie pulled him into a hug.
Steve was tense for a moment before he seemed to melt into it just like he had the last time. The time when Steve was so tired he didn’t have those walls and clung onto Eddie. “I’m sorry no one believed you. But I do, I promise that I’m here for you.” He said into Steve’s ear and Steve’s arms wrapped around him tightly. “You’ve got people on your side now, Steve.”
He pulled back and Eddie looked over Steve’s face, seeing a soft brokenness in his eyes. “Right, uh, you do too. I mean, you already did but now you’ve also got me… on your side! Like I’m in your corner,” Steve had a nice blush covering his face and Eddie liked it.
He nodded and took a step back, “right. Good to know pretty boy.” Then, of course, Eddie had to say something so obvious and stupid. It make his heart jump and he laughed, “uh. Yep, we’re friends. Good friends. Good to get that settled. Talk to you later, friend.” He grinned too wide and jumped into his van, starting it up. Steve was getting back into the Beamer as Eddie drove off wanting to scream at his stupidity.

Friday Monday Kiss Tag
Thank you for tagging me @talesofsorrowandofruin and @starbuds-and-rosedust! It's not exactly Friday but it's fine xD
Rules: post a smooch between your OCs for Friday. It can be as light as a peck or as intense as a makeout. It can be romantic or platonic or familial. As long as a smooch takes place it’s free reign!
Here's the dads from Bear Castle Chronicles kissing for the first time in a party where Julius thought Marcus was scowling at him when he was in fact pining extremely hard. This would be from a prequel, which I have written more scenes for than I care to admit. Also I conveniently have art fitting for this (though they are dressed in this art in casual clothing not evening wear, so not a perfect match).
I'll tag @kainablue @writernopal @oh-no-another-idea @italiangothicwriteblr @captain-kraken! As always, no pressure!
Tumblr media
The excerpt (about 800 words) under the cut:
“What is it with you?” Julius was getting annoyed.
“What? Am I not allowed to accidentally look into your general direction now? - Scadi damn it!” He snuffed out the candle he was trying to use to light his pipe. “And what if I looked at you once or twice? Is looking at people not allowed?”
Julius sighed and took the pipe from his hand. He winced as their fingers touched, quickly pulling his hand away.
“No, I’m not saying that. I thought you seemed to be acting different from usual and you getting so defensive about it really only reinforces that feeling.”
Julius steadied the pipe on his lips with his amputated arm and took another candle from the lamp to light it up. Puffing into it for a moment gave it a proper cinder. He offered the pipe back. Marcus hesitated, then took it from him. Julius was suddenly very aware of the small silence between them. Marcus paused, then he very gently kissed the pipe as he took a smoke from it. Smoke poured out of his parted lips.
Julius blinked and turned to look away. His ears were filled with his own heart beat. This is not what he was supposed to think. He was supposed to be getting over Marcus.
“What if I was looking at you? Everyone was looking at you”, Marcus muttered.
His eye was turned downward. What was with his bashful expression? Julius realized they were still standing so very close the smoke poured right into his face. He didn’t mind.
“Everyone? And why would that be?”
“You were radiant.” Marcus’ voice was low. If Julius had stood any less close, he wouldn’t have heard him properly. “Your smile was so bright it was blinding.”
If it was everyone, why was he saying it like that? Like a confession. Julius felt the danger growing. Danger of hope. He tried to damp it down.
“Sounds like you’ve drunk a little too much”, he said, trying to sound light, as if he was joking.
“No. Well, maybe, but I’m telling the truth. If you don’t want people to stare, maybe don’t look like that.”
Julius laughed nervously. “Like what?”
“Like the most beautiful thing in the world.”
He was about to laugh again, but then Marcus raised his eye at him. That look filled him with the cool summer night, till he couldn’t breath.
Marcus turned away and closed his eye. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I have no right.”
Maybe Julius had drunk one too many classes of wine or maybe he just lost his reason, but he nevertheless bent down, took Marcus’ face into his hand and kissed him. Reason caught up with him quickly enough and he pulled away.
“I’m sorry.”
What had he done?
“You have already made clear how you feel, and yet I –” He wiped his face. All the feelings he had tried to convince himself he didn’t have anymore, crushed over him in a wave. “I’m really sorry. I can’t – I need to clear my head.”
He turned to leave, but Marcus’ hand grabbed his wrist. Marcus looked down. His lips were still parted, like they had been, when Julius leaned for the kiss.
“Do it again.”
Slowly Julius turned back, afraid to break the illusion. He leaned down, tenderly touching Marcus’ cheek. Marcus’ eye was lowered into his lips and fingers brushed against his jaw. His lips parted again. Julius kissed him, this time carefully, cautiously - gently brushed his lips against Marcus’. They were wet with wine and tasted of tobacco, but not just that. They tasted like him. Like the air tasted in his chambers, like his hair smelled, when he leaned close enough. Like home. Lips still almost touching they breathed the same air. Marcus closed the gap and pressed his lips into Julius’. First painfully softly, then with his whole body pressing closer. His hands grabbed Julius’ face. Hungrily. Julius could not hold back his desire. It poured over as he sank his fingers into the thick hair in the back of Marcus’ head.
He had to pull back before he lost all of his sense. Holding each other, heads still together, they took breathless gasps of air. Julius was about to lean for another kiss, but with pains stopped himself. He bit his lip as he shook his head.
“This is a pretty dangerous place for this…” he breathed.
Finally he tore himself away from Marcus. A gasp escaped Marcus’ lips. For a moment they just stood there, both quite breathless. Marcus’ pipe was on the ground, very snuffed out. Julius picked it up and lighted it up again like before, now very aware of the memory Marcus’ lips had pressed into it. He let his lips linger on it for a moment, clinging to Marcus’ taste. Marcus took the pipe back and raised it on his lips with slightly trembling fingers. Julius had to look away. The urge to throw that pipe away and kiss him again was very hard to resist.

Kyle. Hi. Wow. Ok. I'm sad. Wow gonna miss u hard.
Tumblr media
Ok so the Brendan Shanahan media availability just ended. Wow, he revealed a fair bit and didn't hide that letting Kyle go was his decision and revealed when he changed his mind from fully working on extending his contract, to ok thank you but bye.
The timeline:
Off-season 2022: shanny tells dubas they're going to wait and see how the 22-23 season goes and then decide on whether or not to extend him. Kyle all cool beans super profesh
Season: goes well normal ups n downs. Owners & board & shanny are happy
Trade deadline 2023: shanny is very pleased and now there's not much else for GMs to do rn so tells dubas we want to extend you. Kyle all cool beans i want that too here's my agent's deets y'all figure it out keep me out of it while i focus on the end of season & playoffs
Friday May 12: Leafs nation crashes and burns out of the playoffs in round 2
Saturday day off
Sunday they all come in for team pictures and shanny & dubas chat and he tells dubas you did well this doesn't change anything we still want to extend you. also everyone will be talking to media tmr you don't have to i won't be. Kyle all cool beans but I'm gonna bc the players & coach have to and i should support them
Monday May 15 - Kyle Dubas speaks to media -> he did not confirm yes/no on whether he wanted to stay as GM, answers with this season was v hard on my family and i have to speak w them before i answer in any way at all
Shanny's brain goes all WTF. Yes we've talked extensively at every conversation about how hard this season has been on your family. But like did not expect that response to the media. So then shanny's all driving home that night thinking ok i have to think about the possibility of next season having a different GM
Tuesday - they don't chat
Wednesday - shanny goes to see dubas. They talk about his Monday media availability cuz shanny got questions cuz like wtf. They talk about pressure on family in this industry both as player and management. Kyle says his agent will contact him tmr and shanny all uhh ok but I'm like still so confused girl
Thursday - dubas agent sends shanny a new contract w different financial package expectations. Kyle emails shanny that night i wanna be ur GM boo🫶 but shanny already got the ick factor going and is so not into it anymore
Friday May 19/today - shanny drove to dubas office at ford performance centre and told him we will not be extending ur contract 😭😭😭
Brendan Shanahan speaks to media
Tumblr media
If you've got the urge and u really love kyle highly encourage you watch/listen to both of their press conferences. Shanahan speaks highly of Dubas keeps it profesh there is none of the bad blood we heard about
Kyle is so awesome, open, emotional and possibly its the last time we'll hear from him for awhile since he's no longer with MLSE nor any other org. He said in his media that if he were to not be GM with leafs, in no way would we be seeing him signing with another team like next week. His answer didn't have anything to do w having other job offers.
My overall conclusion:
shanny no longer saw the 100% passion and want for the job anymore from dubas during his Monday press conference. And it's ok if that is how kyle is feeling bc he clearly needs to focus on family for a bit now after just a rollicking season & stressful as shit playoffs. Yes Kyle was in a vulnerable state so soon after playoffs elimination and probably shouldn't have been judged for his contract extension based off of that. But workplaces and jobs are like relationships where if the want to work isn't fully there anymore it is going to turn off your coworkers and boss, and his lack of confirmation of wanting to be GM to the press really drove home that he was still on the fence and iffy about going all in on the job despite the horrible 2nd round loss.
Wherever you go kyle, I'm following you, even if you go to one of my hated teams bc i know you'll fix the org & locker room culture like you did at the leafs💙💙💙

(a/n: so these chapters r gonna b longer cause i have way too much to say abt this heheh, im also posting on ao3 now if you like that format better :/ it’s linked on my master list :)
you unexpectedly watch the kids for the night
warnings: cursing, asshole behavior
__________________________________________
You woke up the next morning to a text from “Anakin”. You yawned and squinted at your phone. Basically every day, come over at 3:00 and leave when Anakin shows up. Except Friday, you had that day off.  Easy enough. Hopefully he wouldn’t come back too late, you still had school after all.
You stretched and got out of your bed. As you finished your morning routine you began to plan out your week.
Breakfast, class one, study in the library, class two, lunch, go over to Anakin’s,  entertain the kids, back to the dorms, homework, sleep.
Your weekend really just consisted of your friends dragging you out to the mall to shop for “party clothes”. That really just meant trying on skimpy dresses that cost way too much. However this weekend you actually had money to spend.
You were all trying on outfits for this new fancy bar that recently opened. They were practically bursting with excitement to go to it on opening night next month. The bar was high profile and you had to “know people” to even get on a waitlist. Kind of a hassle you thought. But you didn't mind treating yourself to some new fashion.
You found a unique sage green dress, it wasn’t too revealing but it wasn’t quite modest either. It cascaded off of your shoulders, really highlighting your collarbone, the silky material clung to your hips perfectly. You looked damn good.
You decided to splurge and buy the dress. Your friends were astonished you actually bought something for yourself, usually you never made personal purchases for pleasure.
__________________________________________
Monday rolled around and you drove to the house one more. Once you got there you realized he never gave you a key. Shit.
You debated calling him, what if he was in a meeting? But what if he didn’t get your text. You began to worry, it was only your second day.
Soon you felt a small hand tug on your shirt. You looked down to see two little pigtails.
“You’re back!!” Leia exclaimed, hugging your leg. Luke followed soon after clinging to your other.
“Hiii, guys!” you exclaimed, hugging them back.
“I’m sorry i’m just standing here, I forgot to ask your dad for a key” you admitted, sheepishly.
Luke smiled and pulled out a key from his pocket. It was a small brass key with a temporary tag that had your name on it. You gladly received the key and Leia spoke.
“Daddy said he’s really sorry he forgot”
“Oh no worries!” you said thanking the twins.
You unlocked the door and the kids bounced right on in.
“How was school? Was the bus ride nice?” you asked them as you placed your things on the marble countertop.
“It was so cool! We learned about volcanoes, they explode!! Like boom-pew-pssh” Luke exclaimed enthusiastically as he made motions with his hands.
Leia giggled then said “Well I learned about long division! We divided seven digit numbers!”
“That’s awesome you guys! I’m really proud of you!” you said encouragingly.
Leia pointed to your bag, “Do you have homework too?”.
You nodded, “Want to do our homework together?”.
“Yes! Yes, please!” she exclaimed, grabbing her bag.
The three of you sat at the counter for a while doing your respective work. Every now and then Leia would tease Luke about his handwriting and you had to assure him it was very good for kids his age. You sliced up some fruits for them to snack on while they finished up.
Around 5:45 the front door clicked open. Anakin walked in with an empty coffee cup in hand.
“Daddy!!” the kids exclaimed, hopping off their stools to greet their father.
He dropped his bag and held his arms out to embrace them.
“Hey guys! How was your day?”
“I learned about volcanoes!”
“That's great, bud!” Anakin exclaimed.
“I did long division!” Leia said proudly.
Anakin kissed her on the cheek, “That’s wonderful, Princess”.
He rose from his position near the floor and made eye contact with you. His eyes seemed to subtly change. They were colder.
“Hello, F/N”
“Hi” you said back, shyly.
“I see you got the key. That was my mistake.” he said stiffly.
You began to shake your head, “no, don't worry about it! I should have remembered to ask” you offered.
He looked at you for a moment before curtly nodding.
You began to gather your things and say goodbye to the kids. Anakin , on the other hand, had already retreated to his room upstairs. You figured that was your cue to leave.
__________________________________________
The next two weeks went by rather quickly, Anakin sent out the same scheduled times to you and you went. Each day was filled with quality time with the twins. Luke seemed to be developing a small crush on you. It was amusing, but you made sure to remind him of the kids his age.  You grew accustomed to their banter, Leia usually the one coming out on top.
You also learned that their mother had died shortly after giving birth to them, and it seemed their dad was still sensitive to the topic. As for Anakin himself he hardly spoke to you at all, mostly he just glared at you from a distance. But he was paying your bills, so you didn’t complain.
Today was Thursday and you were making crafts with the twins, once again, on the marble counter. They originally wanted to go to the park, but a big thunderstorm decided to pass through. So now you were watching  Leia make a “magical butterfly community” while Luke did a “robot-dinosaur mega-world”. You aided them only with the glitter and glue, Anakin would be pissed if it got everywhere.
”Daddy seemed annoyed yesterday,” Leia said to Luke while she stamped blue butterflies on the paper.
“Yeah” Luke agreed, not really paying attention.
She rolled her eyes and you offered your opinion.
“He seemed irritated, yes. But he seems like he acts like that alot”
“Yeah but he usually isn’t rude like that, I’m sorry.” she said, taking some stickers from the sheet in front of her.
Yesterday was rude? Anakin was normally rude, yesterday was downright disrespectful. You had gone to the bathroom and were not in your normal spot at the counter when he walked in. He kind of flipped out on you for not “watching the kids” and threatened to fire you. Honestly, once you got in your car you began to cry. But you told yourself he probably just had a bad day or something. Plus you needed the money.
“I think your dad doesn’t like me” you half laughed, playing with the glitter cap.
Leia shook her head, little brown braids swaying. “No, he does. He would have made you quit if he didn’t”.
You were curious, “what do you mean by that?”.
“He’s nicer to you than he was to any of the other nannies. He doesn’t yell at you”
He was usually more of an asshole? You couldn’t even imagine the damage he caused the other poor nannies. Though you still had a hard time believing he liked you.
Soon enough you heard the door open and a familiar set of footsteps enter the house. Your heart began to quicken, was he still mad at you?
He sighed loudly as he shook off his raincoat. You heard mutter a curse under his breath. Once he stepped into the kitchen he smiled at his kids. As they greeted each other you studied him. He was tall, slimfit, and had great muscle definition on his arms. His hair looked particularly enchanting with raindrops adorning his curls. He was a beautiful man.
He looked at you with less disdain than you expected. “It’s raining pretty hard, huh?” you offered, expecting him to say “obviously” or something else to make you feel stupid.
Instead he responded truthfully, “yeah, I hate rain almost as much as I hate the beach”.
“The beach?” you laughed.
He rose to his full height and gave a small smile, “Mhm, it’s hot and there’s sand everywhere, not to mention all the little shells you step on trying to get to the ocean”.
You giggled again, that was the most he’d said to you without being cold or sarcastic.
“I guess we’ll never do a beach day then” you smiled at the kids.
After cleaning up you said your goodbyes and headed towards the door. But before you made it into the rain Anakin called your name.
“Yes?” you asked, confused.
He walked over to you and grabbed an umbrella out of the holder by the door. He opened it on the porch and motioned for you to join him.
He walked you out to your car, holding the umbrella over you as you put your bag in the backseat.
“Thank you,” you said to him. You were honestly confused as to why he was being oddly nice to you after being so rude yesterday.
“Don’t want you to catch a cold and give it to my kids,” he said.
Aaand there it was.
“Of course, thank you anyways though” you smiled.
You were focused on getting in your car, but you missed the small smile that tugged at the corners of his lips.
__________________________________________
The school day ended with buzzing excitement. That new bar was finally opening tonight and campus was in a frenzy. Everyone was seeing if they knew someone who knew someone that could get them in. Your friends paraded around the fact they were already on the list, while you could honestly care less. But, alas here you were doing your makeup and sporting the sage green dress you bought a while ago.
Once you were finished you took a minute to check yourself out in the mirror. Damn, ok… you looked hot.
You smiled at your new found confidence and began to put on your heels. You grabbed your keys and began driving off campus. Soon your phone began to ring, you looked down and it was Anakin. Confused, you answered the call.
“H-Hello?”
“Hey, I’m really sorry, but do you think you could watch the twins tonight? My department is having an impromptu dinner. I’m sorry, I’ll pay you double-”
He sounded genuinely sorry.
“You don’t have to pay me extra Anakin, I’d be happy to” you smiled, the bar could wait.
“Ok, thank you so much F/N” he said.
“Oh! I was going out with some people, so I’m still in my outfit. It's not inappropriate, is that ok?” you asked, thinking about the kids.
“That's fine,” he said before promptly hanging up.
You shook your head and took a deep breath as you got ready to call your friends… they were not going to be happy.
__________________________________________
You arrived at the grand mansion in record time. You really didn’t want to make him have to wait for you to get there, he might get mad at you. You knocked on the door since you knew he was home, you didn’t want to just barge in. The door opened slowly but Anakin wasn’t the one standing there. Instead there was a man with a clean beard and nice sandy brown hair.
“Hello there” he said in a jovial tone.
You blushed, not expecting some random guy to open the door. “Hi”.
“You must be F/N, I’ve heard alot about you” he said stepping aside so you could enter the house.
Before you could respond Anakin interjected from the top of the stairs.
“From the kids, they won't shut up about you”.
He was walking down the stairs buttoning up his suit. Both men were dressed in formal attire. The bearded man had a gray suit while Anakin wore a black one.
“You two look very nice” you offered. The bearded man gave a sweet smile while anakin just kind of stared at you.
“Oh, by the way you can call me Ben” the bearded man extended his hand to you.
You shook it firmly and smiled.
In your peripheral vision you saw Anakin’s gaze traveling up and down your body.
“Oh, yeah, I’m sorry Anakin, I didn’t have time to change… Do you have anything I can change into by chance?” all of a sudden you didn’t feel so confident under his watchful gaze.
He handed Ben the car keys and asked him to bring it around as he asked you to follow him upstairs.
This was the first time you had been in Anakin’s room. The interior was mostly black and white with an occasional splash of color. He sighed before opening the closet. Far in the back there was a box with some clothing.
“It’s not fancy, but it's better than what you’re wearing,” he huffed. He must really think you’re revolting…. You just felt awful now, what if he made assumptions about you? Would he not let you work for him anymore?
You were pulled out of your thoughts as he tossed a baggy t-shirt and some sweats at you. They smelled different than him, they had a lingering scent of perfume.
“I have to leave now, once you put them on leave my room and close the door, the kids are in the playroom” with that he left.
You took off your green dress, maybe you wouldn’t wear it anymore… you felt embarrassed. You put on the other clothes he gave you, they were obviously women’s clothes, they fit you well and the sweat pants hung off of your hips nicely. You sighed and went to find the kids.
__________________________________________
You found them playing connect four on the floor of the playroom. When they saw you their eyes lit up and they ran to greet you.
“I thought you weren’t coming back til monday!!” Luke exclaimed.
You laughed, “surprise!”.
Leia pulled back to look at you for a moment, “wait did daddy give you that?” she asked, pointing to the clothes.
“Oh! He let me borrow them” you explained.
“Wait, aren't those mom’s old clothes?” Luke said.
What.
“Yeah, that’s why I was asking,” Leia said back to her brother.
Anakin.
Let you wear his wife’s clothes?
The kids showed you a picture of their mother wearing the exact same outfit, lying on the sofa downstairs. She was beautiful.
Leia looked so much like her, the resemblance was uncanny.
While you were having an internal crisis as to why Anakin let you borrow those clothes, the twins couldn’t be less bothered. They had never met their mom, and to them she was no more than a fairy tale character. It was kind of sad, but maybe it was better that they weren’t stuck mourning her death.
The rest of the night you continued to make dinner for them and ended up on the sofa watching 101 Dalmatians, once again. Around the halfway mark both twins were fast asleep on each side of you. You smiled, you felt a sense of family amongst the kids. You weren't really as close with your friends recently, and your love life was a fucking joke. But at least you had two people who were always excited to see you.
You too began to doze off at some point. You dreamed of the early stages of spring, the baby animals, fresh dew drops on petals in the morning, the fresh air, the love. You must have been deep asleep because when you woke up the twins were nowhere to be seen.
You shot up in a panic before you heard a strong voice behind you.
“Don’t worry, Ben and I put them to bed” Anakin was sitting at the kitchen counter, a glass of wine sitting beside him.
You exhaled and walked towards him. “Why didn’t you wake me? I could have put them to sleep.”
He took a sip of the maroon beverage as he looked at the wall in front of him. “You looked peaceful”.
You rubbed the rest of the sleep from your eyes and took the seat beside him. “How was the dinner?”.
He slowly turned to face you, “It was well, Ben and I had a few drinks”.
You smiled, you could smell the liquor on his lips. “By the way, thank you”.
“For what?”
“The clothes, Leia told me…You know you didn’t hav-”
“It’s fine.” he took another sip of the drink in his hand.
You looked down at your hands, what now?
He stole another glance at you, “They’re just clothes F/N”, after that he tipped the glass towards you and arched his brow.
You gave a small smile and took a sip from the opposite side as him, the wine went down nicely, it tasted expensive. You scrunched your nose as the alcoholic burn traveled down your throat.
He huffed out a laugh before looking forward again.
“I see you watched that damn dog movie again.”
Oh.
“I’m sorry, I can tell them no when they ask next time”
Maybe it was his buzz or maybe it was truly just him. But he faced you with a look you had never seen on his face before. It was sincere, adoring and somber all at the same time, “No, I enjoyed seeing my kids with you on the couch watching that movie.”
In a way you felt guilty, you were in his wife’s spot, in her clothes, with her kids, watching her favorite movie… He only said that because he was replacing you with her.
With that you took another swig on the wine.
