God i hate the American transportation system.
My car broke. So it goes to the shop.
The shop has had it for a week and a half now and idek if they've started looking at it yet
Getting rides from people for this long has felt terrible and been a nightmare
There is actually no option at all for public transportation to my job. It's a 20 minute drive, 6 hour walk, with not a single option to get there via public transport. It's actually dumb

MCYT on Ao3, September '24
It's that time again, STATS TIME. My life continues to be a little on fire, but at least I have spreadsheets. Let's look at them.
Some Notes:
A full 11 new fandoms this month, found due to work by @conarcoin. Everything italicized in the sheet is new. That brings it up to 65 fandoms I'd consider MCYT, and also Video Blogging!
Fics are still primarily in english, but we have three exceptions with significant spanish fics. Karmaland (801 of 929 are in spanish, which is up from 799 last month), Tortillaland (117 of 123 are in spanish, the same as last month), and QSMP (1,139 of 10,653 are in spanish, from 1,105 last month)
QSMP also shows 55 works in French, the same as last month, and 680 works in Brazilian Portuguese, up from 630 las month.
In the small and micro fandoms, there are a significant number of fandoms with no update, and two deletions (Ivorycello's Prison Escapes and Area Unknown SMP). Far and away the standout fandom in this under-200-fics zone was Whitepine, which went up 20 fics since this time last month, which means that 90% of the current tag was posted in the last month. Another excellent month was had by SOS, at 15 new fics, or 16.13% of the current tag posted in the last month.
In the midsize fandoms, we had two fandoms break over the 200 fic mark, House Builder Gang with an impressive increase of 19 fics and Slimecicle Cinematic Universe going up by 7. The standout this month, dethroning MyStreet for the first time in several months, is Yandere High School, going up by 54. It's notable that both Evolution SMP and MyStreet are over 900 and posted over 25 fics this month, so their breakover to over a thousand may be soon.
In the larger fandoms, there were steady numbers quite close to last months! Lifesteal posted 141 to last month's 155, Empires beat last month's 160 with 192, QSMP beat last month's 318 with 328. 3rd Life was a little down from last month but this month's 456 (to last month's 493) was still quite impressive, and Hermitcraft's 593 (to last month's 665) was actually beat for the first time in several months by DSMP's 671 (to last month's 612).
Minecraft showed a significant increase this month, a whopping 1,561 to last month's 146, so I don't know if an event or the movie inspired that.
Video Blogging RPF showed an increase of 2,851, similar to last month's 2,910, but still pretty noticeably off last year's 3,420 at this time in 2023.

50 items | Sims 4, Base game compatible.
Type “ACNH Mermaid” into the search query in build mode to find  quickly. You can always find items like this, just begin typing  the title and it will appear.
Always suggested: bb.objects ON, it makes placing items much easier. For further placement tweaking, check out the TOOL mod.
Use the scale up & down feature on your keyboard to make the items larger or smaller to your liking. If you have a non-US keyboard, it may be different keys depending on which alphabet it uses.
Remember that you can resize items in game with your keyboard! Note that if you have a non-USA keyboard, that it may be different keys, but it still works.

I offer anyone who wants to, to add proper vertex paint to the lamp item. My vertex paintbrush in Blender doesn't work the way it is supposed to, no matter what I try. If anyone wants to add the vertex paint I will update the file with the fixed version & credit to the person who added it. Without this paint on the mesh, the whole item illuminates strangely when turned on, so turning the brightness down can remedy that issue until it is fixed. I am also working on figuring out why I'm having this issue in Blender.

So... @muffinlance wrote a really awesome story. I read a post from a point in time, though I truly do not remember when since it seems like I've been working on this project forever, saying that she gives blanket permission for people to print and bind the story into a book (I think there was an also addendum saying that they do not give permission to be sold, since selling fic is illegal). This fic has had total control over my whole brain since it was sent to me (@creatorofthemind I believe it was you, so thank you forever for tuning me into it) back during the days of like chapter six or seven.
So here I am now, sharing this amazing journey of my first ever bookbinding adventure. Further reading below.
So to give you an idea of what's going on, this is a fanfiction about Zuko (Avatar the Last Airbender) (animated show version, the LA show did not exist yet and we do not speak of the movie) being adopted by Hakoda, Father of Katara and Zuko. (This might have also been what kicked off the Give Zuko A Parent craze, but don't fact check me.)
Overall, the characters from the show stick very well to the cannon versions, but where MuffinLance really shines is in the rich backstories and fleshed out feeling of all the non cannon elements. Especially the background characters. I would argue that the writing in this peice of fanwork could easily rival the cannon show at many points of comparison.
Now that you have context, we can get into the actual process.
To start, I used this guide to figure out where to even begin, and fount the included resource list to also be quite helpful. I cannot for the LIFE OF ME figure out where I found the template I used for the front matter and such, but it must be somewhere and I will link to it when I inevitably come across it again.
Then I began to typeset. This step took... a long time. I worked in chunks from about September of 2022 to late March of 2024. I would get a big section done, sometimes even the entire thing, but then find I hated the way I had done it and give up for months at a time. Such is the life of ADHD and flitting interest in projects I suppose.
And then finally, step one was done, and I was left with pages on a word document that look like this. (And do please let me know if you want the link to the document. It was so much work, and I would love to not be the only one to use it.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next step was printing out this beast. Ended up being about eight pages of front matter, and about 630 pages of body text.
That I printed wrong.
Tumblr media
Twice.
Tumblr media
Before finally getting it right. And then not getting a picture of it, because I finished at 4 am and had work at 7, and am also an idiot.
Then I simply stitched along, putting everything together into a beautiful text block.
Tumblr media
And came up with a design for the cover.
Tumblr media
Yes the glue did end up lumpy. Ignore it.
Yes I did have to sketch out the design onto a scraped page several times before I figured out what I was doing. Ignore that too.
The cover design does wrap around the entire cover. No I did not get a picture before I glued the thing down. See again: I'm an idiot. And just... massively impatient.
Finally, we get to the stage of gluing. Behold, my bookpress.
Tumblr media
Of course, topped with Madam MuffinLances own actual professional-people book, Fox's Tounge and Kirin's Bone. It is Excelent. Here is the LINK so you can go and support this amazing author with the real-monies as well as the internet-kudos.
Then, once everything is glued together, one must give the book its "gilt" edges.

I was interviewed a few weeks ago by Ken Reid for his TV Guidance Counselor podcast -- ostensibly about my animation work, but we talked a lot about a lot of other things, too.
Hope you enjoy it if you give it a listen.

SEXPOSITION!!!! :D @danpuff-ao3!!!!
Sorry not sorry about the capitals screaming because this stuff is lit. It's 630 pages single bookbinding!!!! OMG. Danni really said go big or go home!!
Tumblr media
Original rec list on Tumblr - The goal of this list was to rec Snarry fics great about using sex for exposition with a huge dick to word count ratio. The Big Dick Energy of these fics are totally 110% matched by the Big Dick Energy of the bookbinding Danni did :D Also I probably am the luckiest reccer and maybe one of the top 1% (suck on that Bernie!!!) because Danni bound my rec list and whoa total honor :D :D Better than getting into Library of Congress :D
lots and lots after the cut :D :D it took me forever because my roof was like 50% roof and needed to fix that but pic time now :D :D
Ok, this book is from Busy Bee Book Bindery! It's got the coolest seal ever :D :D Also look at the special guy on the right :D we are flying :D
Tumblr media
Also from the side
Tumblr media
Also check out The Table of Contents!!!
Tumblr media
1. Entwined by rexluscus
Danni picked the perfect symbol for this fic. It's dirtyhotbadwrong and its really really codependency :D
Tumblr media
2. Pink Slip by Cluegirl
To be honest the corset is the One Image which just stays in my brain forever about the fic. I mean Voldemort one and the Order folks are now "fosterlings" and things are really dirtybadhotwrong but the corset imagery lives in my head rentfree :D Danni really got that one right :D :D
Tumblr media
3. made to be broken by @theshopislocal
Really love the feather/light/vulnerability vibes of the symbol. It totally matches the beautiful fic with vulnerable Snape written in classic Snarry slash vibes.
Tumblr media
4. Warm by @perverse-idyll
Warm :D Total vibe match for the PWP established relationship comfort read vibes of the fic. Because this is the Snarry PWP and established relationship fic as far as I am concerned :D
Tumblr media
5. Green Grow the Rushes, O by eldritcher
I mean this one really is the perfect symbol again :D Harry has a jackal's head like Anubis because he is that good bad at Animagus stuff. The Snarry bestiality fic/creature fic as far as I am concerned :D
Tumblr media
6. The Unforgivables by Dementor Delta and Cruise Director
I love love love the super direct symbolism of the wand in this fic :D It's just like Harry :D Kind of Slytherin and sneaky, kind of Gryffindor and risktaking :D Also lots of dumb luck and it works out :D
Tumblr media
7. No Sex, No Galleons by Ziasudra
I mean literally nobody is paying Snape a ton of Galleons for his services :D Bad joke but I really love the symbolism of that for the fic which has a ton of characterization and dynamics around the concept of worth <3
Tumblr media
8. Contempt by @danpuff-ao3
The most Snarry fic of 2020s for me <3 I am pretty much totally burned on Snarry because I feel satisfied and a big reason for that is Contempt. It was so brilliant, perfect and I don't really feel like reading new Snarry at the moment :D Also a perfect image for the fic. Innocence, guilt, beauty, ugliness, imperfection, flaws, penetration lots and lots of symbolism in that <3
Tumblr media
9. Mostly Harmless by EmilyWaters1976
The imagery of the manacle is super on point for this fic which is dark, dubcon bittersweet with a happy ending :D
Tumblr media
10. Death and the Open Mind by Loup Garou.
The final fic is super long at like 43000 words. I mean!!! That's like 150 pages!! 150 pages!! Danni is insane and brilliant. I really love the skull rose imagery which is perfect for the fic which is dark, dirtybadhotwrong and really really beautiful.
Tumblr media
Also the intro :D
Tumblr media
Also one of my fav parts from Contempt
Going to bed with Severus — to actually sleep — is Harry's favorite part. It's a bit awkward because they haven't discussed it, but Severus doesn't dissuade Harry from following him. The bed is lumpy and creaky and small. Severus is too bony to be a comfortable bedmate. Harry latches onto him all the same.
Tumblr media
Also one of my fav parts from Warm
It was everything Harry wanted. It was the sort of sex he'd thought he could never have, and it made him so giddy he almost laughed out loud.
Tumblr media
Also one of my fav parts from Green Grow the Rushes, O.
He has done his best to ward the boy in. He has done his best to follow the boy. But the boy is no longer a boy. With Minerva's voice, with a jackal's head, with skulls on his torso dying off one-by-one, he is godly and bestial, of no father's seed, of no mother's make.
Tumblr media
Also of course back of the book
Tumblr media
Also This got here by OWL POST

Famous/Important Women?
I'm trying to make a list of notable women in history (mostly for fun, partially to use against misogynists who think men did everything), and kinda not wanting to just look up a list online.
So; I'd like anyone who sees this post to add to the list. Even if all you can remember is a name and basic details, that's enough (I myself am mostly operating off memory, and then looking up details to fill in the blanks). If possible though, a date of birth/death and what they're most known for would be great, since those are the details I'm focusing on right now.
I'll add all new people/details to a list here on Tumblr so we're all on the same page info-wise.
Edit; pinning this post both so I don't have to scroll millions of miles and so it's easier for people to find (I should probably be pinning my intro post instead but whatever).

Or, the walk to the ferry from Rafael's POV.
🧡 Under Stars Chilled By The Winter by @bluebellsinburbank | ConsumingLove (Bluebellstar) [G,1K] Hawk has been away in Rome for a week. He comes home to Tim.
Part 7 of Bravery | Part 5 of FT Valentine's Month
💛 you're the home beneath the ruin by @startagainbuttercup | startagainbuttercup [T, 1K] Episode 2, Inside Hawk's head.
He thinks about Tim, about the joy he felt when he woke up next to him just ten minutes ago, and another memory comes to him, a memory of him smiling so adorably Hawk couldn't stop peppering him with kisses until Tim laughed, ticklish, and wrapped his arms around him tightly, preventing him from moving, not that Hawk wanted to move. He fell asleep in Skippy's arms, feeling safe and content.
Part 3 of FT Valentine's Month: how do I love thee, let me count the weeks…
💚 in the still of the night by @thewindyoubargainedfor | thewindyoubargainedfor [E, 2K] Tim stayed up, waiting for Hawk to call. Hawk made it worth his while.
💙 gold-skinned, eager baby by @lispenard-street | lispenardstreet [E, 10K] Tim sets out for Fire Island with a single goal: to dig Hawk out of his pit of self-destruction.
As it turns out, Hawk is after something else entirely.
A 1979 fix-it… of sorts.
💜 In your eyes, this is a place worth remembering. by @in-our-special-place |  Cupping_Cakes [M, 630] Hawk stumbled into the room, his eyes blurry and his steps unsteady, but his gaze was fixed on Tim, as if he were the only thing that mattered. A wave of emotions washed over Tim, flickering between anger, hurt, and a longing desire to hold Hawk close one more time.
💗 Where figures from the past stand tall And mocking voices ring above. by @in-our-special-place | Cupping_Cakes [M, 472] They held each other's gaze, their love speaking volumes more than any words ever could.
🤎 To Wrap Your Love Around Me by @beyondxmeasure | Cyantific [T, 5K] Waking up in Tim’s apartment, Hawk discovers Skippy's old robe, the same one from years ago, and the memories all come flooding back.
Tim doesn’t have much time left, will Hawk be brave enough to stay?
🖤 Beguiled Again by @bluebellsinburbank | ConsumingLove (Bluebellstar) [G, 1K] Tim comes home late, finding Hawk asleep and wearing his shirt.
Part 6 of Bravery | Part 3 of FT Valentine's Month

❤️ I'll Forever Love You by Anonymous [G, 602] Marcus slow dances with his love.
🧡 The Night Before The Road Trip by @vespersong | vespersong [T, 2K] So...we all know Hawk planned the trip to Rehoboth beach. Which means he probably packed a bag. But what about Tim? Was he stuck in that same shirt all weekend? Well, let's just say Hawk was prepared.
💛 please tell me now by @thewindyoubargainedfor | thewindyoubargainedfor [G, 1K] When Marcus arrives in San Francisco, he knows the first thing he needs to do.
💚 We'll find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide. by @in-our-special-place | Cupping_Cakes [M, 706] 'I never told you this, but that was the best day of my life. I never felt so free and happy, like I could do anything with you by my side.'

Part 2 of FT Valentine's Month: how do I love thee, let me count the weeks...
💜 All Tied Up With Nowhere To Go by @jesterlesbian | captainquint [E, 2K] “Are they too tight?” Hawk asked, tugging on Tim’s wrists.
Tim’s wrists were, at that moment, bound to the headboard of Hawkins Fuller’s bed by some carefully knotted neckties. Tim was struck by the thought of Hawk wearing one of these ties to work on a later day, becoming distracted in his office thinking of what they had done with them on this night. His mouth twitched up at the corner.
“Hey, are you listening to me?” Hawk placed a hand under his chin and tilted Tim’s face towards Hawk’s own. “This is important, I don’t want to hurt you.”
Tim rolled his wrists and wiggled his fingers to show they were fine. “I’m not made of glass, Hawk, you don’t have to treat me like I’ll break.”
Or, Hawk teases a tied-up Tim
Part 2 of FT Valentine's Day 2024
🖤 No Expectations by @justviwriting | justviwriting [M, 3K] When Hawk wants to leave Tim in 1957, his plans are disrupted when Tim wakes up before he could walk out the door.
Part 5 of My Fellow Travelers Fanfics
💘 the gold of the dusk and the dawn by @redmyeyes | redmyeyes [M, 3K] Valentine’s Day, 1954
Part 4 of Fellow Travelers
🤎 Me too by @alorchik | alorchik [T, 1K] Hawk feels he can afford it now, here, with Tim.
❤️ Where No One Else Can See  by@bluebellsinburbank | ConsumingLove (Bluebellstar) [G, 2K] Marcus once said Hawk was a damn good liar. And the first step in being the best damned liar that ever set foot in Washington was the necessity of being able to lie to yourself.
Hawk had been lying to himself for so long - about so many things - even he didn't think he would know his own truth if it was laid bare before him.
Until soft brown eyes and a kiss that tasted like milk and eternity.
Until Skippy.
Or, How Tim's touch made Hawk realise a certain fact.
Part 2 of FT Valentine's Month
🧡 The World is Not Kind to Good People♦️ by @lovebunnie | space_kid [T, 727] Tim felt Hawk’s eyes on him whenever they were in the same room, not unlike the unrelenting gaze of God; all powerful, all knowing, something Tim ached for.
💛 Stars fading but I linger on, dear  by @cinnamoncountess | CinnamonCountess [E, 5K] Tulips, roses, lavenders, daisies and orchids —
Tim closes his eyes for fleeting seconds as he passes the bayside and takes in the wide-ranging scent wafting over from the flower sales on each side of the road, drawing into his nostrils where it mixes with the salty sea odor from afar. It is that day of the year again that always squeezes on his heart like a fallen wall of bricks, burying him underneath.
💚 Everywhere I look, you're all I see.  by @in-our-special-place | Cupping_Cakes [M, 950] In that moment, all the pain, the hurt, and the years of separation melted away. It was just the two of them, lost in their own little world. And for Tim, it was all he ever wanted.
💙 Anywhere You Wander, Anywhere You Go  by Anonymous [G, 1K] As he was now, the man he was now - Tim could not deny the longing in his heart. The need to close the distance between them again, to take his heart back into his arms.
Or, another cabin husbands dancing together fic.
💜 cheek to cheek  by vexinganthony💠 [T, 2K] An extremely fluffy one shot about Tim singing at hawk’s behest.
Part 1 of valentine’s month prompts
💗 Unforgettable  by @justviwriting | justviwriting [T, 1K] Hawk and Tim dance together for the first time.
Part 4 of My Fellow Travelers Fanfics
❤️ One Desire  by @lovebunnie | space_kid [T, 1K] Tim instinctively stepped towards Hawk before stopping, "Hawk, I don’t-"
"You said music doesn’t sound the same," Hawk cut in. "I figured… it doesn’t have to sound the same. Let’s make it sound better."
Part 1 of Fellow Travelers Valentine’s Day 202
🧡 Hold Me In Your Arms  by @bluebellsinburbank | ConsumingLove (Bluebellstar) [G, 1K] Tim entices Hawk to dance with him, and then sing for him.
Part 3 of Bravery | Part 1 of FT Valentine's Month
💛 You're the one I want to go through time with. by @in-our-special-place | Cupping_Cakes [E, 773] 'Don't you need me, Skippy?' Hawk said softly.
'I have you,' Tim replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
💚 with your kiss my life begins  by @startagainbuttercup | startagainbuttercup [G, 785] 4 times Tim and Hawk dance.
Part 1 of FT Valentine's Month: how do I love thee, let me count the weeks…
💙 The Way We Danced Till Three by @jesterlesbian | captainquint [M, 2K] “There we go,” Hawk said, as he found the jazz station he often liked to tune into. Billie Holiday crooned through the static, singing They Can’t Take That Away From Me. Hawk tilted the bottle toward Tim in offering, who took it and tossed back a large swig before coughing and spluttering on the sharp taste of the alcohol.
“I don’t know how you do that,” Tim said, shuddering and sticking out his tongue.
Hawk laughed and took the bottle back, placing it on the desk near the radio. “Lots of practice.”
“Dance with me, Skippy?”
Or, Valentine's Day, 1954

Ship: Mike/Pete Nelson
Words: 630
Description: Safeship September Day 7: Naps/cuddling (from that other prompt list. i don't do AUs for my self ships usually).
It was all fuzzy and confusing but Mike had the vaguest sense they were being watched as they opened their eyes. What had they been dreaming about? Something to do with someone they hadn’t seen in years…
Their vision cleared and their mind began to take in their surroundings. Mike’s body jumped as they met eyes with the person in front of them. Their still tired mind didn’t process who it was until he spoke.
His eyes glittered under the lights of the midway and his soft lips were turned into a grin. “This isn’t a very good place to sleep.”
It was only Pete.
“Tired,” they mumbled. “It’s been a long day.”
He nodded gently. “Sure has.”
“How long have you been standing there?” Mike asked.
He rubbed the spot under his lip. “Oh, a couple minutes.”
“You were watching me.”
His loving grin morphed into his teasing one. “You’re real pretty when you’re sleepin’. I might’ve just carried you away.”
“Flirting hours are over,” Mike said sleepily.
Pete made a motion, as if to walk away, “I’ll come back later.”
Mike’s eyes fluttered closed again.
He tapped them gently on the shoulder. “Hey, come on, you can’t sleep here.”
“Why not?” Mike mumbled.
“Something bad might happen to you,” Pete said. “Or at least you’ll get a nasty crick in the neck” — He extended his hand  — “Come on to bed.”
Mike’s eyes stayed closed and they drifted off to sleep.
“Alright, honey,” Pete said. “You leave me no choice.”
Mike woke up with a start to find themselves looking at the ground. There was an arm around their waist and a hand on the back of their thighs to steady them.
Mike shut their eyes. “Pete, put me down.”
“Not until we get to a bed.”
“You’re going to drop me.”
Pete laughed. “I’m not gonna drop you.”
Mike clung to the back of Pete’s polo, pulling it out of his slacks. His lower back hit the cool late summer air.
“That’s one way to take my shirt off.”
“Shut up.”
Pete carried Mike securely (Mike panicking all the way) until they reached his trailer, where his bed was. He put them down as gently as he could from the position they were in.
“I’m going to take off your shoes,” he said. He reached down to their sneakers and untied the lace. He took that shoe off and did the same to the other shoe. “Now, the socks.”
His fingers tickled Mike’s feet a little as he removed their socks.
Mike’s eyes fluttered open and closed as he did so. Sleep was threatening to take them away again.
“We have to do something about this,” he said, gesturing to their work jumpsuit. Mike sleepily nodded.
He unzipped the jumpsuit from the front and shimmied it off. Mike was left in a white t-shirt (part of the required work clothes) and their underwear.
“Comfy?” he asked them.
“Mmm hmm,” Mike murmured. “But something’s missing.”
“What’s that?”
“About 6 feet tall. Brown hair. Answers to Pete-Nut.”
Pete chuckled. “I’ll be right there.”
Mike drifted off just as Pete took off his polo. His slacks went after, and he changed into his pajamas.
He smiled at his sleeping partner. He tiptoed over to the bed and slipped in next to them, pulling their head into his chest. He took a deep breath, savoring their scent. Sawdust (from the ground of the big top), cucumber scented soap, and a hint of the floral perfume they liked to wear. And a bit of sweat. Pete didn’t mind the sweat.
He gently ran his fingers through their waves. His eyes started to get droopy as he watched the rise and fall of their chest.
He kissed their forehead gently. “Sleep tight. I love you.”
His eyes drifted shut and he fell asleep.

20 Questions For Fic Writers
I was tagged by my dearest @lalalenii 🩷
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
99 but I WILL reach 100 before the year ends!!! Mark my words!!!
2. What’s your total A03 word count?
1,218,112 🫡
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Arrowverse, Glee and Teen Wolf mostly
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
I can reach any star (1,185 kudos)
what if we were demigods (1,038 kudos)
I just wanna have fun and (get rowdy) (1,012 kudos)
sign of the times (688 kudos)
trying to solve a crossword (and realizing there's no right answer) (630 kudos)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do, but sometimes it takes a while. I read them as soon as they’re in my inbox but unless it’s urgent I promise to answer them later and then it can take months 🫠
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh, definitely leave behind your heartache, cast away!! What’s angstier than death?
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
no return and no deposit :)
8. Do you get hate on your fic?
Not often, but it happens.
9. Do you write smut?
I’ve tried a couple times but it’s never good 💀
10. Do you write crossovers?
I’m working on the obligatory Barry-Allen-and-Sebastian-Smythe-are-the-same-person-fic but otherwise not real ones. As in, I don’t usually let characters from different fandoms meet. I do regularly write stuff influenced by other fandoms or put characters in the world of another. I do have some ideas for full crossovers, though.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Somewhere out there, someone translated my Thiam fics to Russian.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Yup, back in High School during class 😂
14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?
[sweats in St Smythe]
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
My Chicles Tschick AU :(
16. What’s your writing strengths?
Dialogue!
17. What’s your writing weaknesses?
Action. I am very bad at describing movements.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I used to write fic in German, then made the jump to English. I think it works better when you’ve consumed the og story in the same language. (For example, I was very scared how I got the voices in my Leverage fic because I only watch it in German but wrote in English. Thankfully other fics and gifs helped 😂)
Or is this specifically about when someone speaks another language? I think in that case it depends on whose PoV you’re writing – nothing irks me more than someone not knowing a language and yet it says “X heard Y say, “[proper sentences in that language]”. I don’t think that’s authentic. I always try to make it clear when the person doesn’t know what the other is saying.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter.
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
all the ones that you adore.
I am tagging @simpledontmeanpeachy, @sophiainspace and @pikechris :)

Fic Writing Review 2023
tagged by @chaos-monkeyy - thank you and dang, you're right, I do love excuses for stats and graphs and suchlike! You know me so well.
AO3 writing stats
204 630 words (this number astonishes me, tbh), and 85 fanworks (including 6 collabs!!), for an average of 2407 words per work.
Shortest fic: 100 words; Longest fic: 9208 words (collab); 6290 words (non-collab).
I wrote m/m, f/f, m/f, multi, other, and gen categories (neat!)
I dabbled a little in graphics stuff and made some moodboards, so the fanworks breakdown is: 84 fic entries, 1 graphic entry.
Top 5 works by kudos
Lost Somewhere (Fellow Travelers) -> I am a bit surprised that this was my most kudos'd fic! Surprised in a good way!
On the Job (Stargate Atlantis AU)
The Line is Thin, Now (Stargate Atlantis)
Seasonality (Stargate Atlantis)
Down to Earth (Stargate Atlantis AU)
I made a chart and all (gosh, what does it kind of look like???):
Tumblr media
Fandoms
I primarily wrote in Stargate Atlantis fandom (surprise!), but I branched out a bit too! Other fandoms were (in order most frequently->least frequently and then alphabetically when tied): Stargate SG1; Original Fiction; Peacemaker; Star Trek: Strange New Worlds; Who is Erin Carter?; Coffin Jackson; due South (crossover with SGA/SG1); Echoes; Firefly; Star Trek: Picard; Star Trek: TNG (crossover with SGA).
Most frequent fandoms
Stargate Atlantis (66)
Stargate SG1 (13)
Original work (4) (!!)
Peacemaker, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and Who is Erin Carter? all tie for 4th place, with 2 fics each
Tags and more!
Most-written characters
John Sheppard (50) (wtf, I thought it would be Lorne) (I'm falling down on the Lorne job here) (Lorne would probably look at me sternly) (oh no, terrible)
Evan Lorne (43) (okay, that's not bad, though)
Rodney McKay (26)
Ronon Dex (16)
Teyla Emmagan (15)
Most-written ships
Evan Lorne/John Sheppard (16)
Evan Lorne/Rodney McKay (8)
Rodney McKay/John Sheppard (7) and Cameron Mitchell/John Sheppard (7)
Ronon Dex/Evan Lorne (6)
John Sheppard/Todd the Wraith (5)
Tumblr media
Top Additional Tags
Blow Jobs (21) (shock! le gasp!) (25% of my 2023 fics)
Alternate Universe (15) (yeah, that checks out)
Dubious consent (14) (yeah, that really checks out)
Maybe it's pushing it, but I think I need to include Humor here too, because it turns out I used it 9 times.
Ratings breakdown
Explicit and Teen+ tie at 32 works each. Mature = 14. General Audiences = 7.
A few other things
I wrote 26 gift fics (most for exchanges or organized events), and wrote 5 things for the Stargate Kink Meme. I had set a mini-goal of trying to reach a total of 300 works on AO3 this year. I didn't make it, but I did get to 298 (with a last-minute addition yesterday), which is pretty sweet.
Tag taggy tag-tag: Anyone who wants to do this! And go nuts! Here are some guidelines/rules if you want them!
Feel free to show whatever stats you have. Only want to show Ao3 stats? Rock on. Want to include some quantitative info instead of stats? Please do this. Want to change how yours is presented? Absolutely do that. Would rather eat glass than do this? Please don’t eat glass but don’t feel like you have to do this either.

So I've been in rehearsals for a new show for a few weeks now. I'm actually an understudy/crew member, not cast. It's kind of disappointing not acting, but I'm making myself useful and getting to help with other things, and meet new people, and observe the way they work, etc., so it's still fun.
My shows normally rehearse M-Th 7-10pm, and the only difference with the current one is that we start at 630, and we've also been called most Sundays. Which IS more time, but it's not THAT much more time??
But somehow it feels like this show is eating up ALL of the free time I want to spend with friends, which doesn't logically make any sense, because I'm currently UNEMPLOYED. This is the first rehearsal process I've done since I was fired, so I should have WAY MORE time, in general.
idk, I think it's just more of me being bad at being a person.

I TRY TO!! haven't been able to recently because brain too tired and it's gotten so long that it uh. might be awkward if i randomly responded now, but i try to!! I love talking with readers and seeing what they think of the fic, and also sometimes it gives me an excuse to infodump worldbuilding or character building lmaooo
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Err, either one of two of the four MCD fics i have?? Two of them have ok, sorta hopeful endings, except two are just me waving a knife and cackling in the background aoieghoaiehga
7. what is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I'm tempted to say *most* have happy endings?? some take a bit to get there, but most should be happy! if they were to duke it out for happiest tho? i have no idea lol
8. do you get hate on fics?
Not really no! Or at least, none that stuck around in my head lmao
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
*points at a few of the anon'd fics* what kind? uhhh, depends??
10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?
Yea! I think I only have two up and one's anon'd because it was from way long ago, only had one chap and i don't want to look at it anymore, so i guess the default prize goes to the genshin x atla one where i yeet four liyue ladies into the elemental nations via reincarnation after teyvat gets murked by celestia and watch things go boom ehehehe... gods i need to actually finish writing that one orz
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
i hope not????
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah! I think there were two translated into Russian?
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
Lol nope, might be interested tho!
14. what's your all-time favorite ship?
BEIGUANG (they've had me by the throat for like, 3 years at this point)
15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
My first fic, aka the anon'd naruto one because i also want to rewrite it and orz (yes it was an si-oc and it recently did a little resurgence in my brain so. Ha. feel free to ask about it because i have so may Thoughts but its uh, its been a while and my writing style has completely changed since)
16. what are your writing strengths?
I'd like to say worldbuilding and fun metaphors/analogies! or maybe action scenes? and if i know the character well enough (*cough*beidou*cough*) then maybe characterization
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
I NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO STOP RAMBLING. brain starts yapping and it doesn't stop, and then i don't know what details to cut because everything starts looking important ahhhhhh (so probably pacing??)
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends! full dialogue? probably nah, since it sometimes breaks the flow, but a word here or there because it works better and people presumably know what it means? then yea! Might need to do some translations/linking shenanigans in the AN if i ever end up doing that tho
19. first fandom you wrote for?
Naruto LMFAOOO
20. favorite fic you've written?
I'd like to say mora for a myth, because its been a while since ive had that type of productivity and motivation? but honestly im not that sure lol

its been sooooo damn hot >:(
i usually walk/run around my neighborhood all the time, stop in my local CVSs for things, stop by 7-11 for a drink and generally just wander. i love doing it esp in summer and spring but its been too damn hot to do so! i might try tomorrow cause itll finally be somewhat cooler. i plan on getting up early too so i can walk for longer before it gets too hot. i also love driving to the library staying for awhile and then walking around there, theres a great antique place right across the street from the library that i love and a strip mall w another drug store. i love drug stores btw theyre one of mans greatest inventions. so much in one place for a decent price, its great! i sometimes when my ma goes into the office for work (she works from home mon and fri) i walk for hours cause my dad doesnt really care as long as im back by sundown so i just kinda wander. i probably shouldnt tho i dont live in a particularly great neighborhood but its still fun to wander and im safe abt it, i walk on main roads and avoid residential areas. maybe tomorrow ill finally try this snowball place thats on my usual walking route. i should check for more cool places i can walk to. usually i just walk to the CVS pick up something if i need it and then hang out on the steps of a presbyterian church near me. i live close to a surprising amount of churches. i know on the main road i walk down theres a vintage store somewhere and a book store so maybe ill pop in there or smthn if its not too crazy hot to walk so far, i also need stuff from the drug store so def walking there at least and maybe down to those stores. i love that my dad doesnt really care how long im out he trusts me so i can wander for as long as id like, well ive gotta be home by sundown. or really by around 630/7 which is when my ma gets home. as much as i love hanging around inside all day i do like going outside and getting some fresh air besides it makes me feel like im not wasting the day away or anything. it is supposed to storm tomorrow but not till night i think. ill let u know if anything interesting happens and if i finally get that snowball lol. walks really help me clear my head and always cheer me up a bit :) shame its been so hot
