But now!!! Its about Prime Empire.

Ok guys look. Prime Empire is a terrible focus season. Jay had absolutely no character development and no power development. Nada. Nothin. Its just a “focus season” because he came up with the plan to make the villain good again and had more lines than usual (plus his little “abandoned” speech.)

HOWEVER!!! The Prime Empire shorts do say something. So, as we know, the Wildbrain seasons tend to poopoo on Jay’s character and boil him down to the funny cowardice character who is the weakest of the team. But something the shorts do attest to is the fact that Jay is STILL a ninja! The MOMENT he went into Prime Empire and saw something unjust he stood up to it. He tried to warn people. His desire to protect people goes beyond his job its his identity.

(i'm so sorry for the crappy captions. Youtube's gonna youtube.)And like the meme I posted earlier, he handled himself pretty darn well without the others. He didn't even complain about being alone. He accepted his situation pretty quickly and was already starting to fight against Unagami before the ninja found their way in. (Which you could argue could be because he is experienced with the situation in Skybound.)

And about the League…everyone makes fun of it but i beg yall to think about it for a hot moment. Who all was in Prime Empire?

When Jay fights the red visors in the shorts, you see the squeals of a bunch of players once they recognize him. Its very childlike and you have to realize that these people are just avatars.

All the people we saw get sucked into the game were kids. Of course theyd flock behind a ninja! And Jay had no problem taking them in and entertaining them and keeping them safe because that was his job! And they all dressed up like him and acted like him because he was their idol!!! And Jay wasnt complaining lol.

Jay acts all unsure of himself most of the time, but Skybound and Prime Empire make it canon that he is a great leader! And an even greater ninja! Sure, compared to Cole he's not as strong. Compared to Nya his personality might not stick out. His power isn't focused on like it is with Kai and Zane...and he isn't the main character chosen one like Lloyd. But these small scenes in his focus seasons remind us that he still was chosen to protect people and is very gosh darn good at it!

I mean, look at him kick red visor butt without even an OUNCE of a complaint about being without powers. (WHILE LOOKING LIKE A SOPPING WET CAT THIS MAN) But yeah appreciate this fight scene please.

Anyways, Jay doesn't get enough credit as a ninja. We forget he was trained for longer than Kai, has one of the most dangerous and powerful elements, is the reason the team can handle intense situations without freaking out, is the master of not one--but TWO chained weapons (known to be one of the most difficult types to master!), and is the ENTIRE REASON THE BOUNTY FLIES??? without ever being acknowledged for any of these! Cut him some slack guys he's awesome. Prime Empire does him so so so dirty.

I wanna try something where they're just more insidious and passive killers than anything else, theyre mostly just biding their time and watching as wherever they're lingering around gets sicker and just starts withering away.

They're a slow moving threat that just can't be stopped and for some reason (because Kristin thinks its funny) Phil just isnt affected by them.

Its a mix of that combined with that "how did he know I was a gemini" meme

I also have a few ideas where they start referring to Phil as their dad in the beginning as a sarcastic / mocking thing but accidentally just getting themselves even more adopted as they do it.

I also wanna explore how Kristin and Phils relationship would be like. Maybe her as death being very bemused by this silly human that just decided she was his wife one day.

She literally visits him in dreams and stuff and he just acts as if they're married and have been for years. He complains about their 'rambunctious kids' and how he has to threaten them with her so that they behave sometimes. She finds it so silly and just cant help but play pretend.

I think that'd be a core part of this AU as well. Everyone is playing pretend but then it just fuzzies and it all becomes real for them. At first its a joke that Phil is her husband and their father but then they get lost in the fantasy and fun of it all and actually accept him as such.

Phil has no ulterior motives either, he's literally just a strange insane man that heard stories about neotrio and started thinking they were his kids one day. He genuinely believes his delusion and they end up accidentally making it a reality.

He just makes lucky guesses and plausible lies often enough that he's still shiny and new, he's still fun to play with and thats what ends up 'tricking' them all.

Ok, hear me out.

Charlie uses the sticker system to get the others to do chores around the hotel. Why? You might ask.

No, its not because Charlie thought it was cute and fun, (though that is a bonus) its because its the only way they get Adam to do a full good job on his stuff.

Like at the start of it Adam was like 'Yeah whatever, I'm not gonna clean shit just to get a stupid sticker' and after he finished a chore a few hours later and showed Charlie (it was not a good job in the slightest) she just smiled and gave him a sticker and the ADHD part of Adam's brain was like:

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

STICKER!

(No, but thats how my Mom used to get me to do things)

But when he did another half assed job, Charlie told him to finish it and THEN she would give him a sticker.

So the only logical thing for Adam to do was drop the chore for a bit because "this is fucking stupid" and he mostly forgot about it, until later when he walked past the room he was working on and his brain was like 'we could still get that sticker' he brushes it off and goes to do something else.

But he can't stop thinking about it now, so he eventually folds and goes back to finish the chore.

There is now a sticker cork board in Adam and Lucifer's room that's just, fucking over flowing with stickers.

This trick also works on Angel, so I can imagine those two fighting over chores in the house to get a stupid pun sticker for their room.

safsdjhgdsfsd that's funny and cute, I dig it. To reuse a meme someone sent me once, *slaps Adam* this man can fit so much desperation for praise and validation. Any kind of affirmation or praise is like a drug to him, especially in Heaven. He'll try to fight it, and pretend he doesn't care, especially about Charlie's approval, but fuck if it doesn't feel good.

"heyyy bestie," lia says coming out of the kitchen with a smile. "so glad you could make it."

from the threatening look on your face, her smile quickly fades. "ok, ok so i know its early-"

"its two-fucking-am lia, you're so very lucky that i don't kill you for this because for some reason, i've grown attached to your need self."

"i'm irreplaceable," she says. "anyway thats not why i called you here, i met some people on the subway the other day who want to meet you."

"you called me here.... to meet fans?" you say in a deathly calm tone. "lia... ITS 2:30 IN THE MORNING COULDN'T THIS WAIT UNTIL I DUNNO LIKE TEN?" you yell launching after her.

"no it couldn't wait! because this is a secret meeting, huhhh? how cool is that?" lia says running away from you into the living room. you follow after her determined to actually kill the little shit but stop short when you see three people standing and watching the ordeal.

two girls and a boy - the boy is jumping up and down with barely restrained excitement, the blonde girl is smiling, and the final girl is just watching with barely restrained boredom.

"y/n, this is grover, clarisse and annabeth." lia motions to the three of them.

you smile as politely as one can at 2:30 am and say hi back. the boy - grover - is still practically buoyant when you look at him, and its generally concerning how much energy he has.

"soo, uh what's up?" clarisse says awkwardly.

"yeah y'know nothing much, just being dragged out of bed at 2 o'clock in the morning to meet some people- by the way does he ever stop jumping?" you point to a still jumping grover. "like dude its wayy to early to be this energetic."

"no. unfortunately he's like this all the time," the brunette - clarrise - says.

"i'm sorry," grover interrupts, "im just such a huge fan of you. and i would've gotten into trouble if i had told my friend we were meeting you so thats why its at such an awful hour."

"your friend doesn't like me?"

"... he's not your biggest fan thats for sure."

"fucking y/n," percy grumbles. sighing he picks his phone up again and gets out of the car heading towards the bustling entryway to the building. men and women in fancy dresses and suits line the hallways as and elevators as he makes his way to the rooftop.

grover and luke are already here so his first goal is to find them, avoid being sucked into any weird business deals and do not under any circumstances run into y/n.

the elevator opens and he moves out onto the rooftop, the cool breeze brushing his face, the smell of alcohol and perfume fills the air. its almost peaceful as he makes his way to the edge of building leaning on the railing to take in the view.

Support Group Drabble #1

"This whole Support Group gets bigger every day doesn't it?" Eldest muttered, half to himself as he looked around the room. They could... probably leave at any time. Eldest hadn't really tried since the first day when he realized time was kinda... wonky here. He didn't really have to worry all that much about back home and he got to talk to other versions of himself that had gone through awful things, sometimes worse things than himself. 

It was a weird experience, but kinda cathartic.

"Seems fucking like it," Grey mumbled, crossing his arms. 

"Come on man stop being such a downer." Eldest chuckled softly, nudging the first member of the group with his elbow. 

Grey shifted away and shot a glare that wasn't really heated at Eldest. "Don't do that. It's too early for that. And I'm tired. So so tired," he said.

"You're always tired man." Which... fair honestly. Eldest was often tired too what with all the stress of back home and his natural tendency to big brother people. That often ended with him TRYING to help all the other JD's here and often getting himself into some shit. Like the time Feral stole his arm. 

He subconsciously rolled his shoulder and checked to make sure his prosthetic was secure. Good, still there.

Grey huffed and crossed his arms. "I'm allowed to be. I'm an old man."

"Aren't we roughly the same age? Late 30's early 40's?" Eldest asked, looking Grey up and down.

The shorter JD shrugged and sighed, slumping forward. "Yeah yeah, I'm still an old man. I've been through some shit, Eldest. And I'm tired," Grey mumbled. 

"Thats... fair." He shrugged, his eyes following Feral and Snake Dory as the two tussled like rabid cats. Such was the ever strange normal of this support group. He could probably try and stop it but Snake was still new and Eldest didn't much wanna get back on Feral's "bad" side.

Grey huffed a little but was quiet again.

"We've both been through a lot of shit. I'll give you that." Eldest murmured softly, more to himself.

"Yeah." Grey muttered gruffly. "I know all of us have been through some shit though," he continued, looking around the room at the various JDs, who were all busy talking. 

"Sounds awfully sappy and sentimental of you. You gone soft and started caring about us?" Eldest grinned slyly.

"Don't push your luck," Grey grumbled, though the slight twitch upwards of his mouth betrayed him. 

Eldest laughed softly and shook his head. He wasn't surprised, they'd known each other for a while now. Long enough to call one another friends. "Wouldn't dream of it. Wouldn't wanna end up in the dog house, I'd never hear the end of it."

"I'll kick your ass." Grey warned, but there was no heat to it.

"That's a lie and you know it."

"It isn't."

"Oh yeah? Why don't you come over here and kick my ass then?"

Grey huffed and looked away from Eldest. "Don't tempt me. I just might."

Eldest rolled his eyes. "Sure ya will buddy. Just remember not to go overboard. Wouldn't wanna throw out your back old man."

"You're not funny," Grey muttered, but there was amusement in his eyes.

Eldest couldn't help but snicker and pat Grey on the back.

Grey swatted his hand away. "Watch it, I'll bite."

"Okay Feral." He rolled his eyes and went back to looking around. "Uh... Is Brotherhood talking to Unsual and his Creek over there?"

"Fuck-"

Tank walked into the Jazz club and sat down at one of the tables near the front of the stage. They ordered themself a coffee and sat and waited for the Vampz. Thats when they saw the band walk out. They had heard quite a bit about the band and had done some research which is how they could tell who some of the members were. The keys were played by someone who went by the name of Vincent. He seemed charismatic and he was pretty handsome. Their drums were played by a spitfire named Lovely who had a great groove. They had two horn players, one named Bright Eyes and the other named Fred. They had a lead treble vocalist named treasure and a bass clef vocalist named Porter, treasure would also play lead guitar and occasionally Porter would play Sax. Then the last member walked onstage and Tank felt heat rise up to their cheeks, he was an attractive man, more rugged. He was their bass player named Sam. They were infatuated by his brown eyes and his dressy flannel.

The first song they played was an original of theirs called “Turn Your Love Around. It was funky and groovy. Many people in the jazz club got up and started dancing. Porter had a good smooth voice. Tank couldn't help but move their head to the beat a little and give a soft smile. They completely fell into the song as the They were grooving and very inspired. The minute the chorus started their world exploded. The trumpets, the dancing. All with the added bonus that the entire band sang parts of it with Porter really inspired them. As soon as they sang the lyrics “Turn your love around!” They had found their new favorite song, They also could have sworn they made eye contact with the Bass player.

The next song they played was their song “What You Won’t Do For Love.” Tanker absolutely loved this song. Its vibe was unmatched and they absolutely fell into it. The lyrics were so enthralling and the instruments really encapsulated the emotion. They took a sip of their coffee. Oh they definitely had to come back to this club again.

The next morning they were making coffee, alone in their kitchen, they started humming the song waiting for their coffee to brew. Before they knew it they were doing a mini little dance and singing. “Turn your love around, Don't you turn me down, I can show you how, Turn your love around!” They didn't even realize the entrance of David and the individual whom he was seeing. He called them Angel and they had been around the house quite a bit. Tank thought they were funny, and very good for David. Anyways they hadnt realized they had intruders until they turned around, their coffee now freshly made and starring David in the eyes. He had a lazy smile on his face and his arm around his partner. “Oh- Fuck…”

“Thats a good song, never heard it before… Did you write it?” Angel spoke up, their eyes gleaming.

“No! I uh… I just heard it at this jazz club I'm going to. Lasko suggested it so I went there to drink coffee and listen to some good music.” They knew they were over explaining but they felt it was necessary.

“Is this place safe? Should I go there with you?” David said his features hardening a little bit.

“No… Its fine, its a good environment…” Their cheeks heated up as they thought about the bassist that they definitely didn't want David to see them drooling over.

“Thats great! Oh and super cute dance moves by the way!” Angel beamed up at them and they let out a groan.

They found themself going to this club every wednesday to listen to the music, have a good coffee, and eye fuck the bassist. Wait, scratch that last part. They were not doing that. They just liked to appreciate good looks and talent. Yeah. Thats all. Today they even brought out the upright bass as they played a Louis Armstrong and Duke ellington classic, “It Don’t Mean A Thing.” They sipped their coffee as they listened to the swung rhythm and tapped their foot to the beat.

The next song they performed was Dinah Washington’s “What a difference a Day Makes.” Treasure has a glorious voice that they had grown to swoon to. It was so gorgeous and smooth and they loved every line.

As the music came to an end and the next band went on they decided to stay for a little longer and get themself a coffee. The barista knew them well at this point.

“Glad to see your Bassist today?” He asked. They both loved and hated Guy. He was funny but he had this terrible habit of cracking the wrong jokes at the wrong time.

“Shut it Guy.” They glared at him. “He’s not my bassist and I am pretty sure he doesn't even know that I exist. Besides, a guy in a band can mean no good for me.” They sighed.

“I wouldn't say that he doesn't know about you. And besides he is a good man. Quiet, stubborn, sometimes a bit of an old soul…” Guy continued on.

“Isn't he only 23?” Tank questioned at the mention of him being an old soul.

“Only 3 years older than you.” He smiled at them, “Happy belated Birthday by the way.” He slid them the coffee.”Speaking of the Devil, brace yourself.”

Before Tank could react a man was at their side. A very familiar man. It was Sam. Oh God were they blushing, they were blushing. Crap. They decided to just drink their coffee. “Sam this is Tank, Tank this is Sam.” Guy said as he left to go take more orders. “I think you guys would make great… friends.” Then he was gone. Guy just left them with Sam.

“Hi, Nice to finally meet you.” Sam said Drinking the tea that Guy left out for him.

“What do you mean?” They said looking at Sam.

“Well I’ve noticed you coming to our shows for the past three months. Just thought I’d say ‘Hi.’” He shrugged.

“Oh, I didn't think you would notice.” They looked at him being completely honest.

“Of course I'd notice.” He looked at them and smiled. “Besides I have to admit that I am quite the fan of yours… I saw you play at the D.A.M.N concert and I have to say you were pretty fantastic. Been checkin out your music since then… Its pretty good.” He said, his thick southern drawl igniting something deep inside of them.

“You like my- our songs? You’ve… wow, that's.” They paused, clearing their throat. “That’s cool… Which one is your favorite?”

“Hmm, ‘For What It’s Worth’ Is definitely one of my top picks…” He said, he was really contemplating this question. Tank was surprised he chose this song as one of his favorites. This was one of the first songs they ever wrote. It had a special place in their heart and he definitely wasn't lying about liking their music. “Gold Dust Woman…” He said, finality in his tone. He really seemed to like this song. “The harmonies just blend so well together, and the way the instruments tell the story with the vocals, it's just amazing. Also the lyrics hit close to home…” He smiled at them. They knew that they hadn't written this song, David had, but the fact that he liked any song they performed made their cheeks flush. “So… you’ve been listening to us for a while… Do you have a favorite of ours?”

“That's so difficult! I mean they’re all so great!” Tank said running a hand through their hair trying to think of their favorite. “The first song I heard of yours was Turn your love around so that one will always have a special place in my heart. However, I think Cry Me A River hit close to home. I definitely can't get it out of my head.” They ran their finger along the rim of their coffee cup.

FLASHBACK

“Thanks for meeting me here, Precious.” Quinn gave Tanker one of his signature smiles that before now would have melted their heart. Now it simply pissed them off.

“What do you want? And be fast, I have somewhere to be.” They checked their watch as they leaned against the railing of the bridge they were on.

Quinn did not like being rushed, even worse he hated when people seemed disinterested in him rather than fawning over him. He leaned in closer to them. “Well I asked you to meet me here Precious because I just hate how things ended between us. You know how sensitive Vega can be.”

“No. I don’t. Still looking for a bassist?” They asked knowing that it would push his buttons. They now took to examining their nails. He gritted his teeth and pulled out a box of cigarettes. He offered them one.

“Want to smoke with me?” He titled the box down to them.

“No thanks. I don’t smoke anymore.”

“You don’t do a lot of things anymore. You’ve changed. Someone has changed you haven't they? Listen, you cannot still be mad at me for what went down.” He tried to sound sweet but to them it was just suffocating.

“I’m not mad, just not stupid. I don’t have to be mad at you to not like you.” They smirked at him. “Is that all you had to say?”

“I want you back, Precious. You were a great thrill to have around and without you life is boring. Besides you need me don’t you? I mean who will give you as much fire, passion and talent as me?”

“I don’t need you. You don't miss me at all. You miss having a play thing. You don’t really feel things quinn and I believe that with my whole heart.” They said standing up and beginning to head back to their bike.

“That's a shame. I hope everything ends well for your one friend's partner… The stagemanager one, you know the one dating Lasko.”

“What do you want Quinn?” They turned, their eyes deadly.

“I want you to give me one night to prove to you that you need me. Or they can kiss their job goodbye.” He smirked at them as he shoved his hands in his pockets.

“If anything happens to them Quinn, I'll beat your brakes off myself and feed you to starving lions for fun.” They headed back to their bike.

“This isn't the end, Precious.”

“I know. You need me.” They spat back at him driving off.

END OF FLASHBACK

“Hmm That's one of the ones I wrote, quite some time ago.” Sam said with a small smile as he took a sip of his tea.

“Well then you’re something of a lyrical genius.” They smiled into their coffee cup.

“Thank You Darlin.” He said, his southern drawl thick. They knew there was nothing behind the pet name but they couldn't deny the way their heart started racing. Still they shrugged it off.

“No problem.” They had now finished their coffee. They looked at Sam again as they heard his name be called from across the jazz club.

“Sam! Stop flirting and get over here! We wanna go home!” It was Fred yelling out. Vincent smacked him on the back of the head as the rest of the members slightly chuckled. Porter, though, was too busy trying to mess with Treasure to realize what was being said.

Sam sighed heavily and shook his head, grabbing his tea. “I hope to see you around again.” He offered Tank a soft smile. They smiled back at him and waved as he walked off.

Scrolling through your blog is such a fun experience, you bring an absolutely great vibe to this fandom and I love it SO MUCH. Could even say you restored my hope in it, since there has been some aspects that made me force myself to leave it, and I hope me bringing one of them up here won't upset anyone.

Now I completely understand if you wish to not answer my ask, but I figured it's worth a shot. So, one of said aspects was a controversy regarding one of the rezero characters that made me feel like you can't mention them without being called names (mostly on tiktok, but other social media also, tho not as much).

Yeah I'm talking about Felix. I'm not transphobic by any means, and I'm fine with people headcannoning whatever they want, but seeing thousands of people calling others transphobic for calling Felix a 'he' made me so unsafe I forced myself to look for other interest. Which is funny since most of the people saying this weren't even part of the fandom. I was wondering if anyone else here had similar situations and just.. how do you deal with it? It seems silly, I know, but feeling like I can't speak about a rather important character from a media I love made me so upset.

No matter how much I tried explaining it, they either dismiss it or say Tappei made him a trans girl without knowing.

Now, if you do decide to answer this and say that Felix indeed may have been 'trans coded' a little bit (Did I used that term correcly? Idk) I'll understand (hell, I would probably agree, you character analysis are great), I'm just upset at the absolute lack of respect for any other way of referring to Felix other then she/her.

hi there anon! first of all - aw thank you for your compliments about me and my blog. im super passionate about rezero (though thats probably super clear to anyone whos seen any content i make for a while aljsdlkf) and well. ive been lurking about in this fandom since summer 2020 so i definitely understand having to leave/distance yourself from this fandom because outside of tumblr, the rezero fandom is kind of . well. to put it simply, theres a lot of metaphorical landmines unfortunately!! T^T and admittedly i wouldve left this fandom a lot sooner if i didnt stick to my own corner and curate spaces with other people who were super chill (like lots of people lurking about here on tumblr + rz tumblr in general!!). so i totally understand how you feel anon (and youre not silly for being upset, i promise!), though admittedly im not super super familiar with some rezero spaces (such as rz twitter) bc i 1. dont speak japanese and 2. i try very hard to avoid the negativity whenever possible!! T^T

and also i apologize for taking a while to answer your ask!! you're one of my older asks that kinda got lost in my drafts hah but i also just wanted to like. take extra care with your ask bc its a super important topic. like not just to me (though its definitely important to me) but its important in general. and i really like felix so. <3

a quick disclaimer is that i myself am not transfem. i am however afab and most likely genderqueer!! (im winging it as i go hah.) felix is also not a character id say im as well-versed in yet, but i do like felix a lot and ex1 changed my entire brain chemistry. and ill also be defaulting to he/him pronouns in this post because thats what he uses in canon.

felix is - at the end of the day - a fictional character, and tappei is a cis man who doesnt Entirely write characters like felix through a queer lens. arguably tappei is Self-Aware when he writes characters who are into other characters of the same sex (though the Representation is arguably a little bit questionable at times depending on how you look at it), but when it comes to characters like felix or subaru who have some Gender Stuff going on, it's more nebulous there. i dont know if tappei 100% realizes he's made characters that could be read as Trans/Genderqueer (emphasis on "read as", because i support different interpretations of these characters), but tappei Definitely Is Very Aware that gender and gender presentation and gender roles are super important when it comes to characters like felix, subaru, and crusch.

i think tappeis own perceptions of gender and gender roles do bleed a bit into the text as much as tappei is pretty purposeful with themes surrounding gender in rezero, but rezero itself still has all sorts of identity issues to explore with a lot of its characters and gender is a big part of that!!

so first and foremost im gonna be examining felix the best i can Purely Off Of The Canon Text, though i do like viewing rezero from a queer lens myself (and it is arguably very queer). im gonna talk first about felix and then ill move onto talking about my personal feelings on rezero fandom stuff :o !!

so felix's relationship with his gender is complicated and he Absolutely does not fit into traditional gender roles or gender presentation right now. these are undeniable. and if people headcanon felix as transfem thats totally understandable and valid!! but to say a headcanon is 100% canon and that other interpretations of a character as complex as felix are invalid isnt exactly it. for sure. i mean i myself interpret him as nonbinary haah. but felix's relationship with gender is so so so So complicated that i dont think you could just say hes transfem and then Not Elaborate More.

but regardless of how Exactly you label felix, i think you could possibly say that hes trans coded. tappei, even if he probably doesnt entirely know hes made pretty genderqueer characters, is Aware and Purposeful of how gender affects felix and his perception of himself and his identity and other peoples perception of him and this is brought up Over and Over Again in canon—felix’s gender identity, at the moment, aligns more with femininity in his presentation in every way, though he still perceives himself as masculine. felix’s case is complicated, and while im not entirely sure on this i think you could argue that hes trans coded—“coding” suggests a level of intent when making these characters, and i think that intent is present in some way with tappei. because tappei Knows just how important gender is with felix’s character and you can tell with how often and how Integral it is to felix’s entire character.

these three analysis posts on felix's relationship with gender have all discussed this topic in-depth before i have, and i 1. really like the rezero content i see from all three of these people and 2. they All have slightly different takes based on the canon we have but also some similar points. because felix is complicated!! of course our takes are probably gonna be a bit different - he's a multifaceted character with such a complex relationship with his gender that it's hard to tell what every single one of his personal feelings on it is (especially when at the moment he hasnt appeared in the main story since arc 5 and he still has a Lot of character development to do). and of course fiction is fiction, we can all take away any sort of meaning from a story like this.

but you know. this is my post so im gonna try to analyze felix right now and say my two cents on what i think of his relationship with gender.

so im gonna try not to retread too much on what liquidstar, sufferu, and gourmet of gluttony have already said about felix (and i think theyre all very smart people with interesting analysis posts and theyve all explained their thoughts pretty well) and instead add on with my own thoughts - theres this felix excerpt from arc 4 wn that i think about sometimes. im gonna put it down here!!

and also important to note—like other people have mentioned, crusch and felix made a “deal” of sorts in the past where crusch takes on felix’s masculinity and felix takes on crusch’s femininity. and also like other people have said—and i myself have said in the past—i do have some mixed feelings on this wkdndn and as i said before also i do wish tappeis feelings on gender bled a little less when theyre Not Integral To The Story. bc i dont think tappei 100% knows hes made trans coded characters, but. anyway yeah so thats the whole deal with crusch felix. and in its own right i think it has So Many Interesting Implications!!

i think when it comes down to it, gender presentation IS a bit of a performance, isn't it? like i love to wear dressses and skirts and i love to keep my hair short and wear suits, but you know - these sorts of things tend to be gendered. our gender is often perceived through how we present ourselves, but in recent years gender roles being attached to clothing has gotten a bit less Rigid. but these rigid roles associated with presentation are even more dialed up to Eleven in a medieval world like the rezero fantasy world. and i dont use the word "performance" in a negative way -

what i mean is that when it comes to felix's character, does felix think he's a boy because that's what he's been told? does he think he's a boy because he TRULY sees himself that way, or does he THINK he has to see himself as one? does felix try to present and perform femininity, ie as or like a traditionally feminine girl, purely ONLY for crusch's sake, or is it because felix ALSO WANTS to? what does felix think of gender outside of crusch? who is felix outside of crusch? who is felix outside of tying his entire personality to other people? does felix’s femininity show the “radiance of ferris’ soul” bc of the deal he made with crusch or bc this truly is felix’s soul? these are like the big questions behind his entire character and character arc that would determine in the end how felix identifies in both his gender and In General.

so what is felix's identity at the moment? bc right now, felix is stuck between his feminine self, tied to crusch, a symbol of crusch, tied to his own reliance on crusch and worship of her—and his masculine self, someone broken off from crusch. felix is tied to crusch right now to worrying extents with his obsessive devotion to the point of changing himself to mold into her image, and beyond that, hes still tied to guilt surrounding fourier’s death. gourmet of gluttony puts all of this way way more intelligently than i ever could, but at the end of the day, i think the best narrative decision here would be for felix to accept himself in ALL of his entirety.

healing in rezero is noted to be a kind power, specifically by fourier and fourier saying this right to felix when hes the most talented healer in lugunica, and healing itself is often stereotypically feminine activity. knighthood is stereotypically masculine, and on top of all this, we see in ex1 that biehn argyle twists the power of healing into something grotesque—trying to bring back the dead and revive what cant be revived, which is once again another reoccurring theme in rezero.

how far can “from zero” go? what HAS to stay dead and what can be revived? who is allowed to live? HOW do you live freely? felix is someone born from a horribly abusive and neglectful family who twisted healing magic’s kindness into cruelty, felix is someone who was taken into a family that showed him kindness and now hes desperate to pay them back with everything he has and everything he is, felix is a healer who lashes out when hes cornered and a healer who treasures life and a knight who cant physically fight like the others, felix is someone stuck with the horrible knowledge that he cant save everyone—that some things just Couldnt end better no matter how much he wished for it to.

felix is stuck between all kinds of worlds, and in terms of gender, hes quite literally still stuck between boyhood and manhood in the biological sense—hes purposefully made it so that he hasnt hit puberty yet so he can better pass as feminine. he hasnt Physically Grown past puberty—which is the mark of becoming an adult. and he hates himself in a number of ways, but he also hates himself for failing to be traditionally masculine. his abusive family stole ten years of his life and the torture left him physically weaker, so he cant be strong physically, which is something associated with traditional masculinity. felix is the best healer, a traditionally feminine job and skill, but he cant save everyone. felix becomes more feminine as part of his deal with crusch, but while crusch accepts her femininity and masculinity readily, and while crusch’s memory is erased by gluttony—felix is left behind, alone, still holding onto femininity while not entirely being able to hold onto it while he also cant entirely hold onto the traditional masculinity he expects out of himself. and with arc 3 on, felix feels hes failed both fourier and crusch. the two most important male and female figures in his life.

felix is basically stuck in this liminal space where hes not Enough for himself in literally every direction, and the only way out is to accept every part of himself and move forward by trying to define who he is without other people—his birth family and his found family dont define him. they can shape him, sure, but he has to stop shaping himself to meet them and figure out how to let himself just. Be. and take up a space thats firmly his. from a queer lens, this kind of thing is pretty queer—because to stop being in between worlds, you have to accept everything instead of splitting yourself into halves over and over again. killing or maiming yourself or parts of yourself is no way to live, and felix is Life itself.

and i think regardless of the Exact Labels you could give felix, i think his arc—which is perfectly in line with all of rezeros themes—is inherently about self acceptance and the bridging of the gap and combination of femininity and masculinity. felix is both and identifies, in one way or another, with both, similar to how he loves someone who identifies with both (crusch) and just as hes loved her and fourier. imo it wouldnt be right for felix to choose one or the other in terms of feminine vs masculine—he needs to be the one learning and navigating his honest feelings on both sides bc i think he Yearns to be both. hes a boy who dresses like a girl and its up to him to know if he wants to be a man and/or a woman due to his own internal desire or if parts of that is Only due to external pressures.

and alright now that ive said all my thoughts on felix atm im gonna address the other questions you had in your ask!! note that this is just my opinions and thoughts regarding my own experience in the english fandom, you dont have to agree or anything 👍

but i AM very sorry about your negative experiences in this fandom. T^T people calling other transphobic for using he/him for felix (and also people being transphobic about characters like felix or subaru/natsumi in general) is something ive seen as well. the rezero fandom is sadly very often toxic and Bigoted in a lot of ways (with the exception of rezero tumblr and certain segments of rezero ao3, from what ive seen), which is Ironic for a story thats so clearly about love and self-acceptance, which is also ironic because arguably tappei and otsuka and the rezero marketing team (i Love the female characters in rezero but theres just so much sexualized or vaguely sexist merch/moments that dont add to the story, you know? kind of just. misses the point of their characters sometimes.) sort of contribute to it a little bit as much as tappei does do some really great things with his writing.

rezero is the first fandom ive been active in but its definitely not the first ive ever been in, and ive been in some insane fandoms before. like i said earlier though, i think i just cope by curating my experience to what i like, yknow? liking posts i enjoy, looking at stuff i enjoy, etc :O !! fandom is a hobby so i try not to look at negative stuff when i can help it wkdnd. which im sure youre aware about already but i always have to keep reminding myself of this bc places like rezero reddit or twitter get pretty rough!! but its really helped me just following artists and creators i like, enjoying their content, chatting with cool people i vibe with, rezero tumblr being the chillest rezero space in the whole fandom, and its also helped me a lot making rezero content of my own—like this whole blog!! its really shocked me how much people seem to value my thoughts enough to ask me things frequently but i appreciate it pfft. and i hope you guys like reading my posts!!

but yeah like. curate, curate, curate. it helps a LOT and it gets me excited to experience rezero not only by myself you know? not that i didnt have fun by myself but its its own level of fun finally finding spaces to have fun with others!! and i LOVE finding beautiful fanart!! chef’s kiss. and trying to be the change i want to see is satisfying on its own :,) i want to post random shit about rezero, so i post it. i want to make fanart for fun and share it. i want to brute force people into loving otto more so i ottopost (dont worry, i still hate him bc true otto fans also hate him at the same time <3 /lh). i want more queer rezero content so i try to make some more!! brings more personal power i think and its very fun!! and it helps with lessening the quiet despair of fandom toxicity ;-;; (which is something ive done many times and will continue to do sometimes so i feel your pain 🫂) and i promise theres cool people in the fandom 👍 i may reply late to asks or dms but im ALWAYS down to talk about rezero things its so fun 👍👍

and its really really hard sometimes to deal with fandom toxicity especially if its forcefully knocking at your door—definitely dont force yourself to stay or look at things if you cant, bc thats totally understandable!! and i myself have been harassed a little in the past. but definitely having some sort of coping—the block button, backing out of things you dont agree with or like, lots and lots of curating, etc—helps me a lot. and i think mental health wise i feel much better trying to look on the bright side of things!! its MY hobby goddammit!! ill fight people subaru-style if they try to poison it!! and however long anyone reading this decides to spend with rezero and rezero tumblr—you are welcome here 👍

but yes my very Long rambling aside - i hope this post somewhat helped you!! felix is a very important character that i like very much and need to learn more about and i have Many Feelings on the english side of this fandom, but im very grateful to all the cool people ive met over the years here for sure!! :o
