okay so the thing about mike is. he is a 15 year old boy raised by middle class republicans in the 80s. they have a debatable level of influence/presence in his life, and whatever influence is there is probably like. not great! he hasn’t really had many good role models growing up. and he is also literally 15. so i’m not surprised that he is not the most emotionally intelligent person and friend—even just with those two factors!
but THEN you add on the fact that from age 12, mike has been dealing with the people closest to him being in extreme mortal peril—sometimes to the point of thinking that they’re dead! for extended periods of time!! i don’t know about you, but i think that maybe would traumatize me a little! if i continued being put in really terrifying situations through my adolescence and saw everyone i cared about being put through the same (and often worse!), i maybe would not be the most well adjusted person. i maybe would even lash out or become a bit distant, or have a hard time processing and articulating my emotions well.
i recognize that all of the kids have gone through shit of varying degrees throughout the seasons, and not all of them have reacted the way mike seems to have, but jesus christ can we cut the kid a little slack?? he’s not even that bad. like he could be doing a LOT worse and i would still be saying all this. i don’t even feel like he’s at a point where i should need to go to bat for him like this.

One defense I’ve seen for the Five Lila thing from Blackman and the few people I’ve seen online ship it is ‘they’ve been together for 7 years. What did you expect? This was a natural outcome’
Aside from the obvious answer that Five has been stuck in an apocalypse for 45 years before, and still did everything in his power to get back to his family, that reasoning makes absolutely no sense because Blackman could’ve just not written that entire plot line altogether. He says it as if his hands are tied, as if HE is not the head writer on the show. If a plot point makes you write another plot point that completely assassinates your characters, then maybe don’t…write that plot point to begin with?

the thing that really gets me in mha is that like. before deku gets his quirk everyone is like you cant be a hero at all. which at the time makes sense bc all might is number one but like at all??? thats crazy. and then woah he has a quirk and he can be a hero and gets into the top class of the top hero school and we immediately meet a guy whose power is just tail. his name is tailman. and another who i kid you the fuck not is a diaper wearing misogynist whose whole schtick is he has sticky balls. and they’re like these r the top students ever!! the future of japan!! and deku is like i could have never gotten here without all might!! meanwhile ojiro is sitting there like a singular fucked up backflip away from being in the same boat as him hello?? looking at him straight on he’s just man?? are you serious right now. and then deku loses his super cool quirk whatevs and has to wait forever for his super powerful best friend/lover/enemy? to buy him a super cool gadget thingy whole time fucking tailman is over here on the same level as the kid who makes lightning bolts strong enough to fry the human brain come out of his hands

I find it funny that people are acting like the lotus hotel was THE iconic moment of the book, the moment we were all expecting when it's not even an entire chapter (I think it might be 5 pages long ?) and the chapter isn't even named after it, it's named after theirs ride to Vegas. The only reason it's there in the book is to make them lose time and in the show, it does that and it allowed them to flesh out Luke earlier and introduce Hermes, adds to the Percy and Luke being foils and the history of Annabeth and Luke and have more character development for Grover and more humor.
Unpopular opinion: Nico and Bianca were the most relevant thing about the hotel and that's only in retrospect.
The show fleshed it out so it could be one entire episode and people are still complaining.

Zephrah actively postpones ruidusborn births. It is believed that the actual number of ruidusborn in exandrian history is much larger than has been officially recorded because the stigma of it was so intense that people lied about it. Alyxian, one of the few recorded ruidusborn heroes of the calamity who received direct blessings from three different prime deities (our very own Changebringer, the Archheart, and the Moonweaver) , has been all but forgotten (read: likely erased) by history.
The Archive of knowledge that revealed the truth of Predathos and Ruidus was never some forgotten thing—it was intentionally hidden by the elites in Vasselheim. And we have no idea how long they have been operating with that knowledge. We have no idea what they have been doing with that knowledge, what silent wars have been waging for years or decades or centuries. But we saw what they were willing to do, in Hearthdell. We saw the violence and suppression they were willing to commit. We saw the pettiness of the exandrian pantheon in the Dawnfather’s response to Deanna’s: “Are you worth saving?”. In the Changebringer’s manipulative change of course in her pleas to FCG. In the Wildmother’s rejection of Opal. In the knowledge we have that Imogen spent so much of her miserable time in Gelvaan begging the gods to aid her to no avail—just for Kord to reach out only to demand that she not let them down.
Liliana’s point that Vasselheim and the other faithful elite of the world will hunt ruidusborn down to negate even the potential of this happening again isn’t new, it isn’t something this solstice and the machinations surrounding it caused, and it isn’t some unsubstantiated, fearful claim—it has been happening.
The vanguard—and Liliana—are unequivocally wrong in their means. But can you really fault them in their desire? Can you really fault the conclusions they have drawn from the experiences they have lived? If you spend your entire life being rejected by the people and the pantheon of your world for means you could not possibly control, would you not seek out someone and somewhere that would accept you? And if you found it, if some being that has been connected with you your whole life welcomed you home and wrapped you in an embrace that felt like your mother’s and says that it is starving; well, aren’t you, too?
There is likely a holy war brewing. At the end of it all, is it truly the sole fault of the people and not the organizations and society that expelled them?

I'm the age my mom was when I was 14.
I can't imagine acting the way she did. I guess I thought at some point the bad shit she did would start to make more sense, but it hasn't. Like, I remember specific events and specific fights from when I was a teenager, and now that I'm about mom's age and seeing it from the other side it doesn't make a lick of sense at all.
That's a good thing. It means I'm not like her after all.

I'd be remiss not to point out that "Orym's lying to himself about revenge" basically rests on an argument from ignorance—people who make this argument are acting like it's true because it hasn't been proven false, both because this is an ongoing story and things change and because no one here is actually a mind-reader who can falsify it once and for all. It's a logical fallacy, to be clear.
But it's also just another example of which statements the fandom will cherrypick and parade around (Laura thinks the glasses are cute! Matt liked my tweet about Imogen!) and which ones get conveniently ignored. Liam has now said both in and out of character—more than once—that Orym's not out for revenge; he's trying to honor the memory of his lost loved ones; and that the Ruby Vanguard's goals will never be worth the slaughter they're inflicting. If that's not factoring into the discussion, then the discussion simply is not worth anyone's time.

"But if we dont get reblogs and likes than why bother creating at all" Did you never doodle in your notebook in class. Did you never have a notebook of cringe doodles you never wanted people to see but got filled anyway. Was this never something you did because it was a tool of personal comfort.
