I'm sorry I love Charles but its fucking crazzzyyyyyyy to me that Ferrari filmed him butchering the name of a POC— that he knows and has worked alongside in some capacity for 10 years— as a funny, quirky moment. Like do you understand how many pairs of hands and eyes this had to go through to be like: yeah this isn't tone deaf and eye wateringly cringey to show a white man be told he's fucked up someone's name for 10 YEARS and then goes on to mess it up again.

I know Zhou is laughing in the clip but like what else are you supposed to do after telling someone you've raced against for 10 years that they keep fucking up your name. The whole point of the video is that this is funny? Both the setup and the punchline of the joke is not learning the name of someone you've known for 10 years

It honestly made me deeply sad.

"We were just fighting the whole race with cars that were quicker than us... I started to go backwards after giving it a shot to stay with them. But, yeah- it got a bit hectic at one point with Yuki, sent a big one down the inside, and then, exit in Turn 1, I think he lost the rear and touched me... From then on, I had a second to a second-and-a-half of car damage and I just had to retire... Not a clean weekend, which is what I was looking for. But I feel like we're getting closer."

One reason you might not be very "good" about a trans loved one's pronouns or the language you use for them might stem from memorizing what they want, rather than actually changing how you view them.

For instance, my trans friend came out rather late compared to me. However, since internalizing that I wasn't really correct about who she is, because she's a woman and I didn't know that, it was instantaneous to refer to her by her name, to use language that accurately reflects her instead of what I thought she was.

When you actually internalize that a loved one is actually this way instead of what you thought, it makes it so much easier to truly and actually change your perspective on them.

In short, are you memorizing who they are, or are you actually learning who they are?
