#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#wen ning#wei wuxian#wen qing#jiang cheng#Truly Massive disclaimer here: I am a Jiang Cheng enjoyer. I like his character. I enjoy that he is very flawed and volatile.#This episode of the audio drama has a lot of great breakdown scenes featuring JC - and they all deserve a feature.#But underlying this comic is a small meta comment of 'ah man I have too many comics of JC just wailing sadly'#My goal is to draw 6-8 comics per episode - I sometimes have to truncate and cut good scenes out.#Especially when a large majority is just different flavours of trauma and toxic relationships to your self-worth.#I would also like to make a note here that just because you lose the ability to do something that is very tied to your core identity-#-does not mean your life is over. It will feel like the end of the world. It will send you into a spiral of grief. It will hurt so badly.#Sometimes we do not realize how tied up our identities can be in certain things until we are cut loose.#You don't lose yourself. I promise the pain will fade in time. I promise you will find other things to tether you. I promise you will be ok#Life moves forwards. Time moves forwards. You move forwards.#Ego death just means an opportunity for ego rebirth. You are never committed to being the same person forever.#To wrap this around to JC: Yeah I love the twist with the core transfer but man I would have loved to see JC accept the loss.#Obviously it happens for a reason (story) but I can have my AUs. I can have these 'what-ifs'.#described in alt text#I'm trying it out! *please* give me feedback - I want to eventually Add image ID to all of these comics one day

Have a Ghost are Dragons Prompt
Danny hadn't seen Vlad's other form. Not in the entire time he'd known him, nor at any point during a fight.
Oh sure, he'd gone into a ghost form, but never anything else, never anything more. Even Box-Ghost changed sometimes, usually to sit contentedly in one of said boxes until a ghost hunter started to shoot at him. Usually Danny's parents.
He'd never seen it until now, his own leg torn through by an unlucky shot and wings too small to fly as he tried to run. Tried to flee from his parents- tried to get out from the lab while green spattered everywhere.
He'd never seen it until they were trying to cut into him, even if they didn't know it was him. That it was their son. He just needed to get to the Portal, just needed to get out where they couldn't reach.
And then Vlad had arrived, almost seeming to stutter and freeze, everything growing cold. And then burst into flame.
Everything was a blur after that. Everything hurt, more than it should have compared to the injuries he'd suffered before. Painful enough that his vision whited out.
The next thing he knew, he was in the Zone. Not in Amity, not anywhere familiar either. He tried to ignore that fact, just as he tried to ignore the ectoplasm green dripping from slowly (too slowly) healing wounds.
"Where are we going?" he found his voice, however small.
Vlad was quiet, an unreadable expression on his reptilian face, head turned away from him. "Somewhere," he eventually answered, not sounding anything else but exhausted. "I'll figure it out."

Playing Celeste is kind of wild to me as a 23 year old
Celeste's thesis statement seems to be the exact same as the coping mechanism I came up with when I was 15
Which is that dealing with negative emotions becomes a lot easier when you stop seeing that part of you as an adversary, and instead start seeing her as just a scared girl who doesn't want to get hurt, and deals with that in potentially harmful ways.
And also she's really cute and you want to kiss her and have sex with her

it’s been four months since December 2022 and I’m still not over the fact that Reigen was apparently so haunted by guilt from that one time in S2E2 where he scolded Mob for eating too many french fries that it showed up in the super emotionally charged eyecatcher montage during the series finale.
Tumblr media
I wonder if reigen will ever find the closure he needs to free himself from the poltergeist of regret that obviously follows him around as a result of this incident. the confession incident really had reigen re-evaluating everything from the past three years.

You pick one main Succession character, IN CHARACTER (none of that “i can fix them” shit none of that “they’re actually a good person” mess, i mean the canon character), you have to marry them, who is it? I’ll be nice and say you can kill or divorce them but only after 5 years of marriage. You need to fully immerse yourself in the suffering

the appeal of yeojeong as a normal guy who’s just a little bit off. not enough that you would notice when talking to him, of course, but it’s just there, under the surface. a disturbance. and i think it’s interesting because typically you have two types of guys somewhat adjacent to this: guy who seems totally normal but is secretly sadistic/a psychopath, and then guy haunted by a traumatic/troubled past, who has that secret layer of torment running beneath the surface of their image. but yeojeong breaks through these archetypes, and i think part of it is because he’s just so...calm. it’s not that he’s living a double life (kind doctor by day, killer by night) or hiding part of his past (everyone he worked with knew about what happened to his father, and watched his downward spiral during his college days). he’s not the typical male character who is, at every attempt, trying to outrun his tragic past (even though he does run once or twice); he’s not haunted by flashbacks, or suffer from PTSD in the way that is usually portrayed in dramas. and i think part of that is because the glory is a story about victims. it’s dongeun’s story, first and foremost, even though it is also yeojeong’s story, and hyeonnam’s story, and sohee’s story. but it’s a story about dongeun’s pain, and when it’s not about her pain, it’s just about the pain of victimhood - unlike other dramas, this isn’t a show where male pain outweighs the rest.
so yeojeong is just a normal guy. he’s handsome. he has a good career. he’s a plastic surgeon, an interesting choice when both his parents were/are hospital directors, and his father seemed to have worked in the er or something of the sort prior to his death (or at the very least wasn’t a plastic surgeon). something could be said here of yeojeong choosing the ‘safe’ path as a doctor, a path where he cures pain and makes people happy without the added risk of being attacked by one of his patients. there’s no proof of that in the show - why he chose to be a plastic surgeon - but it’s an interesting thought path to travel.
dongeun says he must have lived a good life. that he’s never had to worry about the path that he’s on. and that’s true, to a certain extent. to everyone, including her in the beginning, yeojeong is perfectly friendly. he’s perfect, but not the perfect that people perceive as too perfect (i.e. the guy who’s hiding things); he has his moments where he spazzes out, gets into fights, goes crazy over dongeun texting him back, teases his mom. he’s perfectly well adjusted (a perfect contrast to dongeun’s ‘maladjustment’). he wears flip flops to work and gets the same coffee order daily. he plays go with old men in the park.
he likes to listen to the fizzing of vitamin tablets in water because it calms him down. is this a strange thing? only because he thinks it’s important enough to mention to his therapist. he does it at work too - drops the tablet in, closes his eyes, rests his head. he does it at home - drops the tablet in, opens the drawer, draws a knife. it’s about the noise. bubbles rising to the surface, like bubbles rising from underwater. he stays underwater until the last possible moment, when he has to break the surface in order to breath. dongeun makes him feel like he’s at the eye of a storm - a deceptively calm center, while everything else rages outside. and i think it’s kind of important that he makes that comparison, when he’s someone always seeking that calm. the soothing noise, that makes him feel lonely.
so he’s just a normal guy. a normal guy who receives letters on a regular basis from the prisoner who brutally murdered his father. he doesn’t like letters, he tells dongeun. who knows what he does with the letters - does he keep them? does he throw them away as soon as he sees them? he must have read some of them; maybe you only need to read one to know what is in the rest. maybe he’s still reading them; maybe he keeps them without reading, an invisible torment. it’s not what he does with the letters that matters, but that he receives letters at all.
can you still call it a haunting if you’ve almost made your peace with it? if you’re living with it?
he’s just a normal guy, who looks his therapist right in the eyes and tells her that she couldn’t fix him. he diligently attends therapy for years on a regular basis, even though it doesn’t work. he finally abandons it when he moves to semyeong, because he chooses to embrace dongeun’s revenge. he chooses his own revenge, too, in a way. the dark part of him that he can’t escape. the one that makes him pick up the knife, who asks dongeun who to kill before she even tells him she wants any of them dead, even when he’s a doctor from a family of doctors, and doctors don’t kill - they save lives instead.
you couldn’t fix me, he tells his therapist calmly. so calmly. as if there’s not a bloodied man sitting next to him, a man he dreams of killing. the man is just life to him, just like the letters are life to him to. a dulled numbness. an acceptance of it.
is your son going through hell? can you even tell it’s hell, if it’s what you’ve become used to? is it hell when you’re a doctor dreaming of murder? is it hell to no longer be tormented by dead men and living murderers who send you letters? is it?

Everything hurts.
Pac groans in pain as he is downed again. How many times has he been killed now, eight times? Ten? Twelve? He’s not sure– and frankly, he doesn’t care anymore. He just wants those fucking eye worker things to be gone.
Someone is picking him up– Pac’s not sure who it is. Everything is so blurry, so hazy. He remembers thanking them as he stands on his legs, hissing when the bruises on the stump of his prosthetic leg ache. He hears more screaming, more fighting, he thinks he heard the sound of someone dying, but he’s not sure of who.
Everything is too much.
“WHAT?!”
Pac turns around, stumbling when he hears Bagi’s broken voice. What happened? His head is spinning, and everything seems to come in and out of focus.
“Who did that?!” She screams, a rage in her voice Pac has never heard come from her. “WHO DID THAT?!”
He’s confused– what happened? He grabs his comm with shaking hands, thinking something was said in chat.
Empanada is bleeding.
Empanada was slain.
What.
He freezes. His heart stops, mind going quiet as gunshots and yells overlap. But– But Empanada was right here. She was behind him, running away with her frying pan in her hands when Pac was downed. How could she be dead? Not again, not again, not again.
“No, no, no...” He mumbles, watching as Bagi and Fit push the worker with their scythes and corners it. The male stumbles towards the worker, hands clenched into fists. He has nothing– those fuckers destroyed his home, destroyed his armour and weapons, took away one of Em’s lives...
He punches, because that’s all he can do.
He punches with as much strength he can muster (which isn’t a lot), mindful to not get between it and Bagi. He keeps punching, again and again and again because how dare they?! How DARE they hurt his family.
Then Bagi yells.
“YOU KILLED EMPANADA, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” She screams, stabbing the worker with her scythe and downing it. “YOU PIECE OF SHIT!”
Pac stumbles back, freezing.
He’s heard that tone before, accompanied by wide, crazy blue eyes and blodied, sharp fangs.
He tries to breathe, but his body feels out of his control. He gets goosebumps as Bagi screams and yells with grief and anger in her voice as she stabs the worker over, and over, and over, and over. Fit stands back, hand going white by the grip he has on his scythe and a mix of anger and guilt on his face.
At some point, the body of the Eye Worker stumbles towards his frozen body. Bagi, in her fit of rage, doesn't see him and continues stabbing the Worker. Pac feels a flash of pain in his abdomen, and he collapses, downed once again but this time by Bagi. He doesn’t dare to move or to speak– he needs to be as quiet and still as he can if he wants to live, to survive.
He starts to get picked up by someone, but all Pac can manage to say is that they can leave him, he’s fine. He gets picked up, of course, but all he can do is stand there, paralized, as Bagi continues her rampage on the eye worker.
Everything hurts, and all he can do is watch.

OK HI HELLO TRANSLATION ANON HERE!
Dissidia just destroyed me with the new Angeal chapter. There WERE, in fact, Sephiroth and Angeal interactions and they hurt, I will tell you. I actually almost cried. The angst was incredible.
It’s very hard to translate everything because there was so much dialogue, but I will do my best to summarize below:
So, Angeal is back and he was talking with Cloud’s group, trying to catch up on everything. He seems to have no idea what happened past his death, which makes sense. For now, Cloud is just trying to save Tifa who is in danger with a few other characters.
Angeal helps Cloud and they actually end up facing Sephiroth, who is on his usual “Hahaha eat despair, kids!” BS and is after some energy crystals because power, blah blah. Seph is fighting Cloud and attacking the others like usual, but poor Angeal has no clue why at first.
He very much approaches his old companion with his lecturing “dad friend” tone and says, “Sephiroth, explain yourself! That was crossing the boundaries of just a training exercise!”
He is baffled and says that they were both soliders, wondering if the “company” aka Shinra ordered Seph to attack the others.
Seph just laughs it off and tells Angeal to move out of his way. Angeal is visibly disturbed and asked Sephiroth what’s wrong with his facial expression (presumably Seph’s malicious smirking as usual). Angeal says to not joke around like this, saying he doesn’t understand what’s going on and that Seph seems different—he seems…changed.
The others, mainly Cloud, are trying to tell him that “the Sephiroth of the present” is not the same as the one Angeal knew. They say that present Sephiroth is cruel and unforgiving and that he burned down Nibelheim.
Angeal is very upset and can’t believe it. He shakes his head sorrowfully and saying that Sephiroth was always very selective of the decisions he made, so the idea that he would commit such atrocities is astounding. That’s when Angeal turns around and asks Sephiroth, “Don’t tell me….were you one of them too? Did you deteriorate like Genesis? You too?”
He immediately assumes that it must have been the degradation that made Sephiroth do what he did, but Sephiroth seems to get upset and shakes his head, saying that “they have nothing to talk about!”
(Liar lol).
Angeal goes straight for the elephant in the room and asks,
“Sephiroth…are you angry with me? I’m sorry I disappeared without telling you…but…(referring to “we have nothing to talk about) is your demeanor/behavior towards anyone that asks you for a reason/for answers. Just tell me what happened!”
Basically, Angeal is demanding that Sephiroth explain and communicate instead of just dismissing it. Angeal says this in one fiery swoop, darting at Seph with his sword, and shockingly, he manages to knock the latter back, who gasps in surprise. Angeal can’t believe it and says that Seph is losing his grip, and that it’s very unlike him.
Sephiroth literally says “You’re making me stumble/shake…I need to get rid of you.”
We get the idea that Angeal’s presence is actually messing with Sephiroth and making him weaker…very likely with hesitation. Needless to say, Seph is angered and a battle starts with him saying
“Go away, Angeal. Your presence is discomforting…”
More angst!
Angeal responds,
“Look, maybe we weren’t in the type of relationship where we could confide in each other for everything….but I haven’t stopped thinking about you guys (Seph and Gen), hoping that you at least didn’t turn out like me…so just let me ask you….is there anything I can still do (to help)?”
(I am gonna cry. Angeal nooo).
Cloud yells at Angeal to stop because there is just no way to reach Sephiroth :(
Anyway, they fight and Angeal notes in horror that Sephiroth’s power is extreme and he is way too strong to be degrading. He asks himself,
“Sephiroth…what happened to you? What power is this?”
And now for the angst cherry on top of the whole thing:
Sephiroth gets pissed at the whole thing even more. He says, “Enough!” and goes after Cloud with his usual “Remember me, Cloud” nonsense and tries to charge. Angeal yells for him to wait and jumps in front of Cloud to save him.
Seph’s sword stabs through Angeal’s shoulder and it really looks like this freaks Seph out because he jumps back immediately, presumably in shock. Angeal falls down and is hurt, which prompts the others to ask if he’s okay.
He brushes it off even though he can’t get up yet and shifts his attention to Sephiroth again. His words are so sad…he says,
“I don’t know what to do. Everything has changed so much since then. I know I’m not supposed to now…but I want to stay by your side until the end this time…so please…Sephiroth…just talk to me…”
Guys, I was pretty much crying lol. I will cover the next part in a second ask because this one is too long, but chew on this pain for now. It really stung, this whole chapter…and Angeal breaking down in this scene was hard to see.
Jesus fucking christ.
Jesus H. Christ.
FUck.
FUCK.

My impression of the difference between Will and Mike fans on this tag, as a certified huge fan of both:
Will fans: JSJHSHSHA im SO excited for main character Will next season I CRAVE any CRUMBS of Will content!! …but I’m also trying to reconcile with the fact that main character Will means he’s gonna suffer even MORE next season before he gets his happy ending bc in this show screentime = suffering… fuck 😭
Mike fans: bro if Michael Wheeler does not have the absolute WORST time of his LIFE next season then I don’t want it. if he doesn’t reach his all time lowest point mentally then I don’t want it. he’s gotten too comfortable in terms of the supernatural department I need him to SOB. he needs to lose all hope. he needs to be confronted with his worst fears coming true. preferably he’d get kidnapped. If he has screentime but he’s not suffering then what even is the POINT. I’d literally pay money to put him in a blender on high speed 😌

like. okay. thinking about this some more and tbh it is kind of insane to me the way people will sometimes characterise core four, and kon specifically, as being completely unconditionally on board with tim not revealing his real name or face to them prior to wwyj.
like, i know the real reason is that the people doing this simply don't read comics. which is such a fucking wall to run into. but man... tim not telling them his identity when everyone else had revealed theirs to each other/didn't have one to begin with was the biggest driving force behind the tim and kon fight on apokalips. the same way kon was upset and hurt that superman never told him he's also clark kent. kon is very explicitly not cool with being left out of the loop about things as big as secret identities. it makes him feel like the other person doesn't consider him trustworthy, and then he starts questioning their relationship. (once again, pointing at the kon & lois conversation post hypertime arc when he finds out clark's secret identity.)
i love identity shenanigans. i love identity angst. i think thats one of the most fun things about the superhero genre! and aus where they don't know each other's ids can be fun!!! but it's like. INCREDIBLY out of character for that not to be a driving force of conflict if kon is involved in any way.
