"You look beautiful.", he whispered as his eyes met hers in the mirror. "And I think you're confused, Counsel, seeing how you're in the ladies' room." "We both know that's far from the most embarrassing predicament I've found myself in in the recent months."

Chapter 2: Gone
Description: So... I know many Daminette fans don't like Damian being younger than Marinette so 🚨SPoiler AleRT 🚨 Damian is gonna be younger for a while but an event happens that gets their ages exchanged. (Sort of)
Warning; swearing, angst.
Summary: Where half the population fades away.
-----
Previously:
"Check the international news" Damian said appearing out of nowhere, Marinette nodded switching her tabs to international news
"What the fuck is that?" Chloe asked pointing at the phone
Boy... the world was in for a life changing ride.
***
"It's a spaceship" Marinette answered listening carefully at the reporter "In New York"
"Should we help or something?" Chloe asked
"No, the Avengers seem to have it under control, besides I think the adults will take care of it." Tim reassured "I don't think there's any of anything to worry about this literally happens all the Time!"
"For once, Drake is right I don't think we should waste our time on this." Damien added
"I guess..." Marinette nodded hesitantly but deep down,  something told her that something bad was gonna happen.
"Why is it donut shaped?" Chloe asked as Damian facepalmed.
***
"So are you dating Damian or Tim?"
Marinette choked on her water as Chloe burst into laughter. The rest just stared unable to understand what was so funny.
"What's so funny?" Tim walked towards them voicing everyone's thoughts
"Is that coffee?" Marinette interrupted, eyes shining at the cup in Tim's hand
"Yes..." he said, narrowing his eyes
"Please gimme" Marinette very 'kindly' requested. now, she had this look that clearly said 'if you dare deny my wishes, you're totally dead'
The entire group of friends 'ooh'ed and "ahhh"ed but Tim wasn't gonna back down.
"Oh, you want this?" Tim asked waving the cup around
"Mmm-hmm, weren't you saying that Chivalry isn't dead? You can prove that by handing me the cup" Marinette smiled cunningly.
"Hmm you're right" Tim nodded taking a sip before spitting it back in and handing it to her, bowing "sorry, I had to check if it was sweet enough for my lady"
The boys in the group howled and whistled, Marinette looked at him in absolute disgust "This is why I won't date you"
"I never asked you on a date" Tim smirked "And I have a girlfriend so.."
"Ugh, I swear I threw up a bit and swallowed it" a red haired girl named Margret gagged.
"Same here" Chloe scrunched her nose
The loud laughter soon died down, it turned Into hushed conversations about the spaceship in New York
"Do you think we're are gonna die?!"
"No" Tim denied "It left earth long ago so...No."
"What do you think it didn't destruct the world like all the other times?"
"maybe they just wanted to plant so they could regroup food for the rest of their planet?"
"Could be" Marinette giggled as the bell rang signaling the end of the lunch break "meet you guys at the lockers after school?" Everyone agreed, waving goodbye to each other.
School ended pretty fast, some teachers even gave updates about the spacecraft, which was long gone and there wasn't anything to worry about. "Schools officially done" Chloe yawned "Now I gonna go to the manor, take a nice warm bath and have my beauty sleep"
"Yeah, today was weirdly boring and tiring, being head boy sucks!"
"Speak for yourself" Chloe snorted "at least you don't have to keep dancing saying 'Go Gothamites!' "
"I don't know today seemed pretty fun" Marinette smiled
"everyday is fun for you." Tim and Chloe deadpanned
"Hey losers." Damian said walking towards them with no emotions...as usual "Except for you angel you're an absolute win-win." Damian remarked, sending her finger guns
"Oh great! Now I have to listen to his unbearable flirting!" Tim threw his hands up in frustration
Marinette sighed "here they go. Again." Before any of them could speak a black limo pulled up in front of them, the window rolled open revealing Jason wearing sunglasses.
"Get in losers, we're going shop- I mean, home!".
Damian rolled his eyes "Why are you wearing sunglasses in a car with black tinted glasses?"
"Where's Alfred? He usually comes to pick us up." Marinette asked making herself comfortable in the car "We thought we'd give you a ride" Dick smiled at her "how was school?"
"Fine" Damian answered "what about the alien spacecraft?"
"Gone" Jason informed "with Iron guy, spider guy and another guy."
"Another guy?" Chloe asked
"Some wizard. don't worry, justice league is already searching for them" Dick smiled again "you guys want to buy anything-"
"Coffee!" Tim and Marinette yelled in unison interrupting the old robin
"-except something you're addicted to like coffee, nail polish or katanas and bloody murder?" Dick blinked at them
"No" all of the huffed
"Awwwwww you kids are so cute!" Jason gushed before leaning back to ruffle their hair
"God! what is hell is wrong with you? it took me so much time to get this perfect hair!"
"Jason I swear to God no more croissants for a month"
"Dude, what the fuck?!"
"Touch me again Todd, I will chop your fingers off."
"You still think they're cute?" Dick asked
Jason shook his head no.
***
Marinette slumped against the soft mattress at Wayne manor relaxing herself the doors suddenly opened and a monkey barged in, jumping on her. And as monkey she meant Stephanie Brown
"Lets do something funnnnnnnn!"
"Steph I'm sorry, I'm tired. go hangout with you're boyfriend." Marinette whined, pushing her off.
"But whyyyy?"
"I'm tired Steph and why are you acting like a kid?, you have a boyfriend. Go make out with him or something"
"But Timmy is busy" she whined
A knock on the door interrupted Marinette "come in."
The door pushed open and Titus ran in jumping on the bed and licking Marinette's face "Titus!" She laughed "Good boy"
"Dinners ready" Damian said from the door way.
"We'll be there" Marinette smiled
"Where my affection when I need it?" The blonde next to Marinette asked to no one in particular, before standing up and walking towards the Damian "lets go! For a delicious dinner awaits us"
Marinette, Stephanie and Damian entered the dining room together, where everyone was seated laughing and talking. "Hey kids" Selina smiled a glass of water in her hands "didn't get to see you all day."
"Yeah" Marinette smiled taking the empty seat between Chloe and Dick, she looked around at the wonderful sight, a year ago Marinette would have never believed that she would be living at Wayne manor, eating mashed potatoes with them. "You okay?" Chloe asked
"I'm fine." Marinette smiled before remembering "Bruce? What-"
"Uh...guys?!" Cassandra's panicked voice exclaimed, everyone snapped their heads towards her fading hand. "Oh God" Dick gasped as he too started fading away
"Bruce" Selina called before completely fading out. The same happened to Steph, Cass, Chloe, Alfred, Dick, Duke, Kate and lastly...
Marinette.
That day, Half the world was wiped out because of the infinity stones.
Never to return ever again.

A Girl and a Ghost Ch 5. Precious Rose
SOOOO this one is a bit lengthy!! there’s a bit of blood, a lil language, so fair warning! oh yeah and HEHEHE SPOILER ALERT THERE’S SOME TASTY PHANTOMEACH MWAHAHAHHAA
i had a LOT of fun writing the phantom and peach fluff hehehe ;)
dont worry!! this definitely won’t be the last chapter either, there’s still gonna be more of my cheesy fic sjfndkfd
hope you enjoy!! @salamifuposey @monsterbride99 just letting these lovely hooman beans know that this chapter exists!!
Jawaii had her arms raised, ready to slice King Boo to ribbons, but the king blasted her back into a wall.
Jawaii had the wind knocked out of her lungs as she slid to the floor.
Phantom rushed to Jawaii's side, picking up her petite body. His eyes became a deep, dark blood red as he shot a murderous glare at King Boo.
"She didn't even stand a chance." he smirked.
Phantom charged a blast of blue fire in his palm. "DIE!" he screamed, hurling it at the king with all of his might.
He had attempted to avoid it, but he wasn't fast enough. The ball engulfed him in flames as he screamed.
The king flung a fireball from his cracked crown, but due to his crown being damaged, it spiraled out of control, which hit Phantom in the process but also set the attic ablaze. He gasped and grabbed Peach's body.
Jawaii regained her breath and jumped off of Phantom.
"JAWAII, NO!"
She didn't listen, instead she ran to King Boo and aimed to tackle him. She phased right through him and onto the floor. This just made him guffaw.
"YOU IDIOT! OH, YOU MORONS JUST MAKE ME LAUGH!"
Phantom began to inhale, gathering air in his body to let out the loudest, most powerful opera scream he had ever sung.
King Boo saw this as an opportunity to take Peach back from Phantom. The ghost Rabbid glanced over at Jawaii in panic, as if begging her to do something.
Jawaii leaped up while the king was distracted and stabbed him, taking great effort to make it as painful as possible for him. It cut open his skin, creating a massive gash on the side of his face, bleeding out a strange blood-like substance, perhaps ectoplasm.
The king let out a monstrous howl as he fell over onto the floor screaming, his hands over the gash.
Then, Phantom finally let out his scream, after inhaling so much air he felt like he was about to explode. It was a force so strong, so powerful that it blew a massive hole in the attic, blowing the bleeding king far away, all the way to the swamps in Spooky Trails.
Both of their ears rung from the noise.
Peach began to slowly wake up. Phantom picked up Jawaii and burst out of the hole in the manor, taking the three of them away.
———
Peach screamed when she fully woke up.
"Wh-where am I? Who are you? ...Oh. Mr. Tom?... what happened?" the princess sputtered out, deeply confused by what was happening. "All I remember is... King Boo taking me away, and then... nothing. And... who's the little girl?"
Phantom's face turned red and his eyes widened as he shyly looked away, blushing. "Ah, w-well... Princess, it's a rather complicated st-story, you see,—"
"Phantom, why don't you and I tell her what happened together? Maybe it'll be a lot easier that way!" Jawaii chimed in cheerfully.
Phantom smiled at Jawaii. "I suppose you're quite right!"
The two happily retold Peach everything that had happened, complete with how the two became friends, their adventure in Spooky Trails, leading all the way up to them rescuing her from King Boo.
"Oh my goodness, what a story! It sounds very scary but exciting at the same time! I'm glad that you're safe and sound, though!" beamed Peach.
Phantom blushed yet again. "Oh, why thank you dear Princess! I'm quite happy you went on unscathed as well."
"Hang on a sec, you know this lady Phantom? She seems very nice!" asked Jawaii.
"O-oh, yes yes! I do know her. We're, erm, friends." Phantom said quickly.
Jawaii squinted suspiciously at him. "You seem super awkward in front of her. Do you have a crush on her or somethin'?"
Phantom's face was a bright red tomato at this point. "N-no, that's preposterous, o-of course not! Why, no male and female can be t-together without people believing that they are lovers!"
Peach giggled a bit. Jawaii grinned mischievously.
"You know, Jawaii has a point. Do you have a crush on me..?" asked Peach.
"...N-no, it's just hot out here. I act a b-bit strangely when it's scorching hot like this!" It was actually quite cold that morning, contrary to Phantom's statement. "Oh, and would you look at th-that, we're here already!"
They had made it to the silent castle in the early hours of the morning. The sun had not even come up yet, still pitch black and silent. Phantom set Peach and Jawaii down gently.
"...Thank you so much for saving me from King Boo, Tom." Peach gave Phantom a gentle kiss on the cheek. His face violently blushed as he had a look of sheer surprise on his face, his jaw hanging open. Jawaii couldn't help but snicker at the look on Phantom's face.
"I... oh my! I wasn't e-expecting that, my princess." Phantom stammered.
Peach simply just smiled. "Would you like me to get you a room to stay in for the rest of the night? You two must be very exhausted after your dangerous adventure together!"
"That would be very much appreciated!"
"Oh... Jawaii? Should I tell your parents where you are...?" asked Peach, concerned.
Oh crud, I totally FORGOT about that. thought Jawaii.
"Uhhhhh... I'm sure they're fine! I'll just come back when the sun's up!"
"All right, then. I'll be right back in just a moment!" Peach walked off.
Phantom went silent.
"Hey uh... now that she isn't here... do you actually have a crush on her?" asked Jawaii.
Phantom looked around and whispered in Jawaii's ear. "To be completely honest, yes. I do. She's the most beautiful, kind woman I have ever met... and thanks to King Boo bringing back the memories of my past life, I know that I had spent my past life attempting to get her to notice me. But it had resulted in my demise."
"First of all, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, no shit Sherlock, for a theater nerd you're a TERRIBLE liar y'know." she teased lightheartedly. "Second of all, ouch... that really sucks. But hey! In this life you befriended her!"
Phantom sighed. "I wish so dearly that we could be together. I tried so hard in my past life, I sacrificed so much to get her to notice me... but that red capped demon had gotten in the way countless times. And worst of all... he and Peach are together."
Phantom began to softly sob, his hands over his face in despair. Jawaii slowly walked over and gave him a hug.
"Aw... I'm so sorry about that... But my mom says it's not good to bottle up emotions. Maybe you should tell her how you feel..?" she suggested.
Phantom just stared in silence for a few moments before he finally responded. "...Perhaps."
"Maybe I could help you with it!"
"...No, i-it's best for me to simply just... tell her. I've known her for quite a while now, but I've mostly been too nervous to do as much as speak to her."
Jawaii hugged him again, even tighter than the last time. "I'm here for you, best friend." she smiled.
Phantom hugged back. "...Thank you, Jawaii."
After a few minutes, Peach came back in to tell them that their room was ready.
"Sorry about the wait! We had a few issues... come on in, it's much comfier in here than it is out there. It's so cold out." she said.
"Oh! You're all right, Princess."
Peach escorted the two into the castle and into their room. Just like outside, the castle was very dark. It had little to no light other than the light of the stars and moon softly shining through the windows.
When they arrived, Peach opened the door. The room was very tidy and had very expensive looking furnishings, and two extremely fluffy beds with plentiful amounts of pillows and blankets. Jawaii gasped and immediately began to jump on the bed. Phantom and Peach laughed a bit at Jawaii's antics.
"Well, sweet dreams you two. You both deserve it after the adventure you've had tonight! And thank you both again for saving me... that was such a terrifying experience. No matter how many times I get kidnapped, it's always so scary."
She smiled and blew them both kisses. Phantom blushed.
"Ah... you're welcome, Peach. Bonne nuit."
Peach smiled and closed the door. She went back off to bed happily.
"What the shit did you say to her? Bun... bon-nue. What?" Jawaii asked, deeply confused.
Phantom quietly chuckled. "Bonne nuit. It's French for good night."
"The heck's a French?"
"Heh heh. Perhaps I shouldn't be laughing, for you're an alien child. You don't know everything about Earth and that's understandable!"
"No, it's okay. I like to make people laugh. 'Cuz it means I made them happy!" replied Jawaii.
Phantom smiled at Jawaii once more. "We should get some rest, my child. We've had a very long day. Bonne nuit, Jawaii." He laughed a bit at his own joke.
Jawaii smiled. "Nighty night, Phantom." She yawned and stretched and sprawled out on her bed, quickly falling asleep within a matter of minutes.
Phantom, however, lay awake in his bed, thinking about what Jawaii had told him to do. He tossed and turned, pondering his decision. His heart throbbed, wondering what would happen.
Then, he decided.
He was going to tell her tonight. He had figured that he may as well get it over with now.
He nervously got out of bed and quietly phased through the walls to get to Peach's bedroom, where she had still laid awake. She was slightly startled by Phantom seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
"Oh! Tom? Is there... something you need?" she asked
"Well... there is something I must tell you. I've hidden it from you for so long... because I was afraid of being rejected, I suppose." he admitted.
"Oh... Well, what is it?"
"I know that you are already taken... b-but..." Phantom covered his blushing face with his hands, and forced himself to finally choke out the words.
"I l-love you."
He knew that this was the end. She was going to kick him out of her castle... or far worse.
But her response shocked him down to his very gramophone.
"Well... if I'm completely honest, I have feelings for you too. That peck on the cheek earlier... was something I've wanted to do for a long time." she smiled and looked away a bit.
Phantom stared dumbfounded at her. He couldn't believe it. "B-b-but, you— and M-Mario—" he stammered.
"Oh, that's just a rumor that goes around... everybody seems to think that! He's still a very close friend of mine, and I'm so glad he's saved me so many times."
"Erm... speaking of that... King Boo told me something about myself that not even I had known. I... I was a human once. I wanted so badly for you to notice me... each time you were kidnapped, I always attempted to save you... but my attempts were futile, for Mario always saved you before I ever could. But one day, King Boo trapped you in a painting... and for the first time, I had arrived in time to save you. Unfortunately, he had killed me and sealed my soul inside a gramophone. I had forgotten about this previous life... until he had told me. Then all of the memories rushed inside me. Saving you had felt... like I had finally fulfilled my goal." he explained.
"...Actually... now that I think of it, I do remember a handsome young man who had clothes not different than yours who had come to save me from him. I remember his beautiful deep voice... with that accent... it was your voice! Your voice was always so familiar to me...but I could never figure out where I heard it."
Phantom's face turned red from the complements. "P-princess, please stop flattering me..."
She giggled. "You haven't become any less handsome than you were as a human, you know."
Before Phantom could respond, she kissed him again. This time, on the lips.
The two kissed under the pale morning moonlight shimmering down into the room.

Do you think that if the ghosts sees period dramas set in their time, it will reignite memories of their life?
i think it definitely depends on the accuracy and style of the drama- if they're too poorly researched, any attempts at reverie would be totally disrupted by the historical and visual inaccuracies (think: thomas yelling about the 'roccoco legs' during the byron shoot). of course the other big thing is setting: it's all well and good to watch to a movie set in your time period, but if it's based in a country you've never been to (especially for the older/less privileged ghosts like mary and robin, who probably didn't have much knowledge of the world outside of their continent when they were alive), it's not going to feel particularly familiar.
working on the assumption that we have at least partial historical and geographical accuracy, here's how i think each of the ghosts would respond to
robin: considering how little we actually know about early human history, i don't think robin would be that fussed by any attempt to put that on film- he'd still appreciate a good caveman joke, although he's not a big fan of how stupid every movie assumes they would have been (it's not like they had omega-3 tablets back then!). robin's unspeakably old, and for the most part he seems to have processed through all the parts of his past that he possibly can, and is now committed to enjoying his time at button house as much as he can (a big part of this is his prankster spirit and frankly underrated friendliness), so it would have to take a lot more than a stone age movie to rake up serious conflict.
mary: given her incredibly traumatic death, mary avoids virtually anything that hints of fire or witchcraft which is where things become difficult. i think mary could really enjoy a film set in her time if it follows a working family not dissimilar to her own- it could help her remember some of the positive things from her life, and probably help her feel a lot more seen as she often ends up misunderstood or ignored by the other ghosts (pat initially dismissing mary's advice about the camera work because he didn't think she properly understood what was happening; the ghosts focusing on correcting her speech more than what she actually says). the problem is, almost all movies set in mary's time that follow people from her class end up focusing on the witch trials, which is a BIG no no for her.
humphrey: i think humphrey could really enjoy watching some tudor set films. like mary, he often gets ignored (and straight up left behind), so watching a period film absolutely gives him the opportunity to feel a bit more seen and stew on those long forgotten memories like post-meal games of cards with friends, or the occasional hunting trip when the king came to visit (the trips themselves were more stressful than anything, but mouthing off about them with the king's entourage after he went to bed was always a highlight). humphrey would definitely have a keen eye for inaccuracies, but i don't think they'd bother him. it's just nice to have things be about him for a change (if by him, we mean having all the ghosts watching something that is vaguely related to his alive-period and actually looking to him with questions instead of just using his head as their personal football/security camera/magic 8ball).
kitty: kitty is one of the ghosts who accesses her memories pretty easily- she has no problem with thinking about her life, even when the anecdotes are screamingly sad to anyone listening. so a period film would naturally bring some memories, but i don't know if they'd be anything radical or new- kitty's real growth and drama would come from her leaving behind the rationalisations of what clearly was severe neglect. actually on that note, while not quite kitty's environment, i think she might get a lot out of Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. something about the themes of the loneliness that comes with growing up in high society and only being valued for what your status and your biology can give to your family and your husband (who you likely didn't choose), along with feeling like an outsider and being visibly othered, even by those you outrank, no matter how friendly and approachable and like them you make yourself (while not necessarily linked to the broader themes of familial neglect kitty's character touches on, i think her experiences as a georgian noblewoman of colour would have to have impacted her growing up and also socially- i'd love to hear any thoughts on this from fans of colour, as i'm white and so any theories i could come up with would likely be a poor approximation). and she'd definitely like the pretty dresses and stunning rooms of versailles, and for that i can't blame her.
thomas: most of thomas we sort of got to see in Free Pass- the detail nitpicking, the excitement until a specific trigger from his life (in this case, lord byron, the man thomas considers his greatest enemy, although i’d be curious to know whether byron acually had any idea of thomas thorne’s existence) causes him to go into a full thomas hissy-fit. sure, the emotion is real to him, but he absolutely plays it up, even trying to get humphrey’s body to fetch alison so she can see how ‘upset’ he is (thomas reminds me of a child in this respect).  there’d probably be less of the tantruming for a movie that had already been made, although i’m not so sure about the memory point. The Thomas Thorne Affair sort of brought out thomas’s big Unresolved Life Mystery, and now i think all that’s left for him to work through has got to be a lot more internal. sure, he’d be reminded of a few good old parties, and maybe any romance scenes might trigger some of the sad isabelle/general lost love emotions, but i don’t think they’d be anything particularly spectacular.
fanny: now fanny would be a real stickler for accuracy. she would be calling out every makeup, decorative, hair, wardrobe, architectural, and lingual failure with the classic lady button judgement in her voice. this is probably half because she can't help herself, but half a measure to distract herself from actually having to pay proper attention and relive her life. i think fanny struggles a lot with no longer running her own household (along with the shifting morals, and fashions, of the modern world), and so to be reminded of everything she can no longer have would be tough. i'm not saying she would long for a time when women didn't have a lot of rights, but she went from a wealthy society woman who held a lot of power in her own sphere to a ghost, unable to touch anything or even be seen by the living (save for the photo glitch), and stuck spending her days with a motley crew of equally frustrating ghosts whom she doesn't always feel respected by (noting that 'respect' to fanny is much the same as deference). she could have it a lot worse, but i think fanny would much prefer to not have to think about her old life.
the captain: the captain is an interesting one. he's one of the few ghosts who actively seeks out media related to his time, although that's within the impersonal war documentary which focuses on facts and mechanics as opposed to day to day realities and feelings. on the one hand, any war film for the captain would be sure to rake up memories of wartime (even if he never made the front- that remains unconfirmed), and the immense grief that comes with watching the people around you slowly stop returning home. the captain is a war fanatic, and has no problem talking about the great battles, victories, and tactics, so i think the heightened emotional states that a film presents would be the key to unlocking the captain's inevitable wartime trauma and going beyond the surface level facts. for that reason, i'd really like the captain to see Peter Weir's Gallipoli. i know it's the wrong war and the wrong country (although the australian's were technically part of the British forces), but i think the overarching themes of the idolisation of the military, the deconstruction of the glory of war, and the intense (bordering on the homoerotic) although never quite realised relationship between Archy and Frank (which, spoiler alert, ends in tragedy), could give the captain a lot in terms of food for thought and unlocking some of those deeper experiences. on the other hand, the captain watching a period film set in the years before his war could be equally interesting- i think they'd play on some his is insecurities and general issues surrounding the difficulty he may have had fitting in with day-to-day life (not just due to his homosexuel répression, but due to his broader issues with fitting in socially which we see through his interactions with both the ghosts and his own forces- some particularly valid fans have used these to headcanon cap as autistic). in short, films would unlock a fair few memories for cap, but even more EMOTIONS.
pat: with pat and julian it gets interesting because while yes, technically any movie set in a non-current time period is a ‘period piece’, you also have to deal with the fact that they’re going to have less impact on their respective ghosts because you also have actual movies from those periods floating around. for this reason, my answers for pat and julian are relatively similar: they wouldnt have any more memories appear than for any film coming from while they were alive. for pat, this means he’d get pretty excited about ones that came from his childhood (pat would be a giant sci fi fan don’t @ me he loves technology), but i think anything that came with too strong a family attachmet, or that he watched in the weeks/months/year leading up to his death might bring out the angry pat we saw in Happy Death Day and Perfect Day. anger is how his inherent death trauma (and the additional loss that comes from the world moving on without you) manifests, so i definitely think that would come out here, even if he isn’t quite able to put his finger on why specific movies make him so angry/irritated. for pat, childhood memories would abound, but the closer we get to his death, there’s less memories but definitely more unresolved emotion.
julian: see my point above about the whole period-film-vs-regular-film thing. julian doesn’t really strike me as a movie person, and i definitely think he wouldn’t give much care to the influx of 80s/90s set british political media (think The Iron Lady etc). in his words, “i don’t really care for politics, and they’re all too busy trying to push their labor propaganda”. he just makes a captain-inspired noise when alison reminds him that he WAS a politician. julian is another character who accesses his memories pretty easily (although they’re usually either horny or at least slightly morally bankrupt), and i honestly find it hard to give a tory emotions so i’m very excited to see how the christmas special manages. julian is a self-centred bloke though, so i think only things that are directly about him could have the power to rake up buried memories and feelings. now i really want to see julian watching a documentary on himself and just getting outraged.
thanks for this one, sorry for the delay!!

“Camp Cretaceous” Season 2 Review
As the title says, this is what this post is gonna be about xD. And, unless I’m very stupid (which is entirely possible), but the whole “Under the Cut” option for spoilers no longer seems to exist. Sooo....
SPOILER ALERT!!! For this whole post, just in case.
Alright, first off, I just wanna say this show has surprised me, yet again. I was concerned that this season was going to feel very rushed and turn out disappointing since the date for it was so soon after season 1. Because as I’ve probably said in my last review of this show...usually, when things get a date that soon after the first season/movie/book/whatever, they don’t turn out quite well, most of the time. So yeah, the date for this 2nd season did make me feel really skeptical. However! I binged it, today, and was genuinely surprised that it turned out to be just as good as the first season! Maybe even better!
I’ll try not to make this review as long as my last one ^^;.
Anyway, first off (again, but for realz or whatever), I knew that Ben was going to come back. I noticed the twitch in his fingers at the very end of season 1. So I saw that coming. What I didn’t see coming was his kinda sudden character development (if that’s what it’s called...I dunno, I’m no expert on the whole character development thing ^^;). He went from a very skittish boy to like, Tarzan. Lol! He grew a pair, and I’m a little proud of him xD. Then again, I guess that’s what being alone and surviving like that with lack of sleep will do to you. I also loved how big and powerful Bumpy grew up to be! And protective! I mean, of course, she kinda did imprint on the boy (or is it the other way around?), just as how Blue was protective of Owen. I just love those sort of bonds in wild animals and humans that they share (I’m being a nerd, please ignore me xD).
Oh! Blue! I love that they gave her a bit more screen-time! Just like the first season, her screen-time only lasted about a second...but she had more scene cuts like that than she did in the first season! I kinda hope she’ll make more of an appearance in season 3 (yes, I read that apparently, season 3 is probably a strong possibility), and if she does, I hope she’ll actually have a full scene with her in the spotlight, if that makes any sense. She is just like, my top most favorite character in the Jurassic World movies (with Rexy coming in second).
Speaking of Rexy, our old girl is as badass as frickin’ always! Her roars will forever give me the chills (I’m still so happy that they kept all the dinosaur sounds from all the movies. I find it interesting that she had pretty much made Main Street her little home. I was confused about her making a nest, though. Like, she an old lady, why does she need a nest xD? On a different note, maybe I just didn’t see them...but, I noticed that she did not have her scars. That confused me because since I didn’t see any of her scars, I wasn’t sure if it was actually her...or, if there has actually been a 2nd T-Rex on the island that nobody knew about (that’s unlikely, though). But she’s supposed to have scars, people! She’s a fighter, and has been in some tough battles! Lol!
I liked that the people who made this show brought back Toro. Even for only two scenes, and Ben had gone up against her in his story of what had happened after the end of the first season. The Ceratosaur making an appearance did kinda surprise me, as the last time I saw that dinosaur, she was in the 3rd Jurassic Park movie (please don’t at me about that, I grew up with all 3 of those movies). I mean, I saw her in the season 2 trailer, but honestly, she had such a small clip in said trailer that I forgot about her ^^;. Even in this show, she didn’t really make too much of an appearance as I had thought she would.
The Baryonyxes. This trio were very interesting antagonists! I actually liked them, a lot! And I’m not really much of a Baryonyx fan (probably because growing up, I never really paid it too much mind as I did Velociraptors and Tyrannosaurs. I only remember seeing 1 Baryonyx in the Jurassic World movies, but she only got a little bit of screen-time. Now that I think about it...it might’ve been the two siblings in “Fallen Kingdom...because I think one of them died when the volcano exploded, and the other one was carried onto one of those ships. I could be totally wrong, though...but after watching this season, it would kinda make sense and an interesting theory. Anyway, I went off-track, there. Main point being: Baryonyx, very interesting antagonist, actually terrifying. I was not expecting them to sound like that, either. Maybe I’m just crazy, but they sounded just a little bit like the Indominous! Maybe....
I was not expecting poachers to be in this show, at all. I’m actually very against poachers...I feel like they’re the reason some certain animals are going extinct. But anyway, that was an interesting reveal! I was suspicious of them from the get-go, but I honestly thought that they would turn out to be working for Manticore. The show did a good job on making me constantly second-guess this couple! I never liked them, to begin with, simply because I felt something off about them...but they were just horrible people! The woman, I forget her name, was the worst of the two, or so she turned out. She seemed to be the one actually in charge of things. Lemme tell you, when she killed one of the Baryonyxes, I literally had a “uhhhmmm” moment because I just knew that her actions were going to come around right back to her...literally. My heart actually went out to the other two Baryonyxes because it was just...a bit of a roller-coaster of emotions, there! The woman later on left her husband for dead (now, that’s just a douche move). But ya know...what goes around comes around! So, I wasn’t shocked when the two Baryonyxes made their way onto her boat.
 Yeah.... Karma is a bitch.
What I really liked about this season was that it threw in so many elements of the first Jurassic Park movie. I loved that! I haven’t seen the movie in a really long time, so those elements in this season was a nice quick nostalgia ride for me. Raptors in the kitchen (though, in the show’s case, Baryonyx in the lab), the watering hole (I think that was in the first movie, but I could be very wrong), Rexy with the flipped over Jurassic Park (World) vehicle...all of it was amazing to see!
I talked a lot about the dinosaurs, sorry ^^;!
The kids were great, of course. Honestly, I feel like there isn’t too much to say about the humans, this season. The kids get along, well, and prove to be a great team, Kenji is...well, Kenji xD, and like I said, Ben coming back was expected but still great to watch. One thing I also liked was that the kids realized and pretty much implied about what had happened to the Indominous.
To close this review off, I have just one question in mind about something that has me totally thrown off and kinda desperate for answers.... What in the hell is in that locked room in the lab?!?! What was cooked up that the show is so implying to be incredibly scary and dangerous?! Is it another I-Rex or is it a I-Raptor or a half-dino, half-human creature?! What?! Dr. Wu?! Explain, please!
Ok, I’m done with my confused ranting xD.
That is my review for season 2 of “Camp Cretaceous”! I am curious to see what season 3 will bring and what the kids will do, now, since they’ve decided to no longer wait for people to come rescue them. I’m also curious to see what sort of dinosaurs season 3 will bring. That is all if season 3 does get decided to become a thing.
 Until next time! Later!

Nesta
Gloved fingers held her book open as she wandered down the gravel path, trees casting dappled shadows on her pages and the birds swooping down low to get a better look at what she was reading.
“You are worse than Cassian” she called back to the birds who continued to stalk her.
She knew they weren’t birds, but she hadn't asked anyone what sort of Fae they were or if she should be wary. It was easier to ignore her surroundings than understand the constant danger she was in, walking from one end of WindHaven to the other. She also liked to think of them as friends, just trying to see what she was up to.
… and he stretched out an arm, grasping for her as she…
A larger shadow passed overhead and Nesta looked up. Nothing caught her attention but she closed her book nonetheless. The bird-featured creatures continued to twitter in the trees and she knew that whatever cast the shadow either hadn’t spotted her or was harmless since it had not sent her feathered friends into hiding.
“Hey.” Cassian called from the trees ahead.
“Hi” Nesta replied.
In the last few days she had been avoiding him when she could. She wasn’t sure how to move on from their moment and now he was here, just waiting on the path, just saying “Hey” like it was no big deal. Like she hadn’t been sent into a whirlwind of confusion.
“So, What brings you to my neck of the woods?” she said gesturing to the trees all around them.
“Just wondering if you wanted to head to a market?” He pulled away from the tree he was leaning into and matched her pace.
Nesta continued to walk straight ahead, placing the book in her satchel as she went,
“what makes you think I don’t have plans?”
Cassian looked down at their matching well-worn boots, a dimple appearing as a smile crept across his face,
“Well this particular market has an assortment of books and clothes and jewellery and other things that you might happen to appreciate.”
His head bowed, hands in pockets and that cheeky grin had Nesta wondering what he had planned, Her eyes narrowed - Cassian was notorious for surprising her. Sometimes good, sometimes, definitely not.
“I see.” She gave him a bland smile, eyebrow slightly arching. “Alright. Where is this market?”
“Ah well, it's not in Windhaven.”
“Of Course not, that would be too easy.”
“But it isn't far.”
“Everywhere is far from Windhaven.”
“I mean, it isn't far for a quick flight.” and he turned those dimples to face her again.
Nesta let out a sigh, she knew she was going to say yes. She knew as soon as he mentioned books. He knew exactly what she liked.
“Is it today?” she didn't have much planned and it would actually be a nice distraction from her episode and avoidance of Emerie.
“Yeah, it's an evening Market, so we should be able to fly there, do some browsing, have some food - they have the best food because the vendor stalls there have been handed down from generation to generation, it's a really old Market. Oh and then do some more browsing?... Nesta?”
Nesta had become distracted as soon as Cassian had said it was a night market. She hadn’t been to a Night Market in Prythian. Velaris  - sure - but the city always felt like it was wide awake, the illyrian mountains had a totally different vibe - you did not want to be out too late after dark. Was it like Calanmai? The stories she had heard were disturbing and being dragged into a cave for some ritual wasn't her idea of fun. Was it like the market near home where anyone could come and go - swindling an innocent girl who didn’t know the customs?
“Nesta?” Cassian stepped in front of her, concern on his face. “We don’t have to go? I’m happy sitting on the couch next to you reading a book.”
Nesta looked up at him, her worries fading away as she looked into his warm brown eyes and the concern for her she saw there.
“We can go, just please tell me it's not as long as a flight to Velaris. I will bring back at least three books - no matter the weight.” Her finger raised to poke his chest on the last point.
“Fine, Three books, any extra books we can arrange to come back home later. I am not a pack horse.”
Nesta grinned then. Cassian wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close to him as they walked. The bird-creatures overhead losing interest in them completely.
---
“Are we there yet?” Nesta called up to Cassian, she knew that the flight was more awkward for him having someone in his arms but she was becoming very aware of the chill as the sun began to set.
“Nearly, it's over the next ridgeline.”
Nesta looked in the direction they were flying, it appeared they were getting very close to the coast, the trees were thick on the mountains below, the sky turning from azure in front of her to a deep purple behind with all the colours in between in the evening light.
“It's a beautiful location,” Nesta said, hoping to get more out of him.
“We’re not there yet, and anyway - it's alleyways could be full of mud and animals - you don't know.” He said with a grin and she really hoped it wasn't the case, she had hoped there might be somewhere to stay and sleeping with the pigs was not ideal.
They caught a thermal and glided over the ridge, below Nesta could see a clearing with a lake, glistening and perfectly reflecting the sky. The cliff below them poured light forth and the trees glowed with warm light, drawing her attention to the thick forest below.
“Is this it?” she asked quietly.
Cassian began his descent towards the lake.
“They like to be approached from the lake, so we will land there and then make our way up into the Market.”
She nodded into his chest and peeked at the cliff as Cassian turned to land. The closer they got the more she realised this was like nothing she had seen before.
Cassian’s feet reached the ground and Nesta quickly swung her feet around and tried to regain control of the traitorous limbs that appeared to have fallen asleep on her.
“Do you need me to carry you to somewhere you can sit down?” Cassian asked
“I’m perfectly fine, just give me a minute.”
They walked a little way along the lake edge, logs appeared to have been placed in the earth as a type of boardwalk next to the reeds and protecting the many lesser fae from the mud.
“So who runs the Market?” Nesta asked as iridescent wings made of night court jewels flew past her face.
“Not sure if it's one person Nes," he threw her a cheeky grin, "and it's always been here.” Cassian focused on leading as the logs seemed to pull them into the trees and up a slope.
“Always? How do people survive? It can’t always be here? These mountains don’t see many tourists.” Nesta was not like her sister - things had to make sense, even faerie markets.
“Well, it's not always Here, but it has always been here.” he said, pointing to the ground first and then spreading his hands all around. “Come, I have something I want to show you.” he said.
Held out his hand.
Nesta took it.
She quite liked holding his hand, it was like the arm around her shoulder but for some reason this time it felt more like they were partners in crime rather than Cassian reassuring her. A distinction she liked to make in her mind. The faeries around her moved with purpose heading exactly where they needed to go, making Nesta wonder - were they sent a map or did they have some way of tracking the stall they needed. Cassian continued to set a fast pace beside her on the half buried logs and she stayed quiet as she tried to piece together how this Market and her Commander fit. Was he here just for her or for something else too?
“So how did you know the market was on?” Nesta asked
“Ah, well it's always on - but at this time of year it happens to be in these hills.” He looked up at the windows of light and then back to her. “You see - it moves around the Night Court during the year. All the locations have been the same since it first started, so they have made each one a destination in itself. This location is my favourite.”
Nesta absorbed that information and tried to think of what she should ask first.
After much deliberation she asked quietly,
“Why is it your favourite?” the soft glow mixed with the encroaching darkness making her take a step towards intimacy she wasn't sure she was ready for again but made anyway.
He continued walking up the steps that had emerged from the path as they made it to one of the entrances in the cliff face. Turning to look at her he pulled her hand to his lips and brushed a kiss across her knuckles. “Many reasons but mostly because I get to be me without any expectation here, this place has its own rules and because they have things you cannot get anywhere else”.
Nesta looked deep into his eyes and nodded, words caught in her throat.
They made their way through the archway and Nesta could see the arches and domes in the ceiling cut out of the rock, precious gems breaking away from the white granite walls. The entrance felt like the earth was alive and she was inviting them into her embrace - warm, solid and trapped.
“How, wait, Wait!” Nesta stopped in the entry Hall and looked ahead to the crowds along the corridor, the market appeared to be made of many connecting rooms, each holding a different stall owner and their wares. The walls were carved from the rock and small door shapes in the wall allowed the lesser-fae to move freely along. She couldn’t see any illyrians but perhaps they didn't frequent the clothing stalls that appeared to be along the front of the Cave complex.
“Where are we going?” Nesta asked firmly, feet rooted below her.
Cassian was pulled by her hand which he continued to hold, and picked up the other one. They stood there holding hands. Fae and other creatures moved around them like waves around rocks along the shoreline.
“I have a surprise for you.” he said with earnestness.
“I don’t know if I can go in there, it's a lot of rock, last time…” she looked down at their hands and let out a deep breath, “last time… bryaxis… and…. “ Nesta avoided his eyes and looked off towards the humming wings and chatter of languages different to her own, bouncing off the cavern walls. Movement, light, not still - not like before. She whispered “I haven’t been back underground that far.” she ran her thumb over his fingers, her voice small emphasising her collapsing shoulders under the weight of feelings she didn’t want.
“I see” he replied as if he himself had blocked out the memory.
“I know that it's not rational, I just, maybe, I just need to know how to get out. What if I go now and meet up with you later?” she looked up at him then, hoping her solution wouldn’t hurt his feelings.
He continued to rub his thumb over hers, looking at their hands and avoiding her gaze,
“I love you Nes,” he whispered, “please don’t go. We can do this together.”
In a barely audible whisper she said “I can’t go in there, not yet.”
“But this might be the only time for a long time,” it was then he looked down into her eyes, The ice blue pools lined with silver, the fear in them, that otherness. Cassian pulled her into his arms and held her, kissing the hair on her head. Nesta could feel his breath on her neck and his wings wrapping around them both, removing the rest of the world from the moment. Peace and a wave of calm came over Nesta eradicating the fear that was there a moment ago.
“Cassian.” She took a deep breath, “Tell me about the Market, lets get some food first and then you will tell me about everything. Let me see if I can rationalise my way inside?” Nesta released the words on a quiet breath and Cassian hugged her tighter.
“Okay food first. We have to head back towards the lake.” he unwrapped his wings and kissed her hand.
“I love you, you know.”
“I know.”

Authors Note: This was inspired by a prompt from Tumblr. Ever since the release of the title A Court of Silver Flames, I have had an idea for where I want to take this story that is slightly different from the original plan I had in mind. Hopefully this leads into that. As always - motivation varies, so If I end up having another long hiatus from writing - I apologise now! But I'm already writing the next chapter.

Code: Realize Route Review - SHIRLEY EXTRA ROUTE
We INTERRUPT YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED ROUTES WITH A SHIRLEY GORDON ROUTE REVIEW. Note, I’ve since done Finis’ route and much of Sholmes, but Shirley...Shirley can’t wait her turn.
Spoiler alert: There’s three good things about this route, unless you’re saving it for the last blast of nostalgia (don’t do that); Victor Frankenstein is present, Saint Germain is wonderful, and the boys all wear different clothing that, while more plain, makes them pretty hot.
Every single part of this route other than that is awful, terrible, and should feel terrible.
Oh, Delly and Passy are cute, I guess. But they’re too good for this route. Spoilers for it, I guess, but I’m doing you a favor if you don’t read it. There’s also spoilers for some of the main routes, chiefly Germain’s and Victor’s. Mostly Saint Germain’s.
This one is more in-depth than usual routes, because...well...I hate all of it, so it’s not just jumping around to different points that I either love or hate or find frustrating.
If other reviews feel more like reactions to you, this one is more than thorough enough to be a review.
First thing’s first: Yes, Sholmes is in this route, but he’s not in it long enough to be able to pull it out of the muck and garbage that is this route.
Second: Yes, the boys all get cool BDH moments, but again, not even that can save this travesty of a route
I could have included those as small concessions at the start, but that wouldn’t fit the rule of three, and frankly those three things are the only stuff that’s present consistently enough to matter.
So the route opens with an amusing little scene where Lupin disguises himself as Sholmes (weirdly, Lupin flexes a skill that Sherlock Holmes would normally possess, but whatevs. Code Realize struggles a little to keep up with Sherlock. It happens.) and steals a statue, presumably sticking this story around the point where Lupin stole all the vamp treasures back for Delly. (It’s not, because later they establish it’s definitely after Victor’s chapter, and I think the airship race is referenced once as well, placing it in an alternate universe where Finis doesn’t ambush them at the lab and Lupin is like ‘whoops, I said I got everything but I forgot the most important treasure of all’)
He runs into some mafia who try to kill him to get the statue back, but if Lupin is anything, he’s bullet proof. You might expect this mafia stuff to loop back to the festival place that Lupin inadvertently wrecked, the sky pirates that he pissed off, or the black race they participated in. You’d be wrong. Those stuff are barely mentioned, and the only purpose they solve is a brief scene where The Demon flexes her skills.
So the Twilight are super hard looking for Cardia at this point and they may possibly even have narrowly escaped a Twilight raid at that lab without killing Finis (we know he’s not dead, because Cardia would never miss an opportunity to remind us of how scary Germain was when he killed Finis had it happened), and this naturally means that Impey decides to go ahead and send her off all on her own for a drive through Lowtown with just Sisi to defend her, because testing the automobile can’t wait and Van Helsing is about to create a bioweapon in the kitchen. Why doesn’t he send Delly with her? Because Delly doesn’t want to be in this story, don’t force him.
While on that test drive, where Cardia would be unable to fix the car if it broke down, making the test drive totally pointless except to needlessly endanger her and open up Finis’ route, The Demon appears. The Demon being the girl in the photo, and who the route is about, Shirley Gordon. Shirley. She’s the 13 year old daughter of a mafia boss who simultaneously just wants to be normal and wants to go on a murder spree.
Shirley makes a habit of running away from her ‘crime’ family. There’s no reason for her to do this, actually, because they dote on her, never make her do anything bad, and are really better considered vigilantes than mafia. They’re so virtuous that the Lawful Neutral Sholmes that explicitly states he only cares about what the law says, not about the morals behind those laws, thinks they’re a-okay and will help them without hesitation.
Anyway. Shirley runs away to do...something. It’s never clear where she thinks she’s running to, other than maybe hoping to find a different crime boss and murder the heck out of him. Along the way, she spots a random woman driving in an automobile and is like “Yes! That one! I’m going to drag her into this escape, knowing full well that it’s not just endangering her but everyone around when I make her SPEED through the streets running away from my family, even after she says ‘I can’t control the car any faster than this, I’ll hit civilians’!” She also tries to get her father killed by flinging him off of a car at high speed into a street full of other cars and horses. But it’s okay, cuz he’s sturdy.
Impey planned ahead for some danger that would inevitably befall Cardia, the most danger-attracted person in the kingdom (and I mean ‘attracted to danger’, because this is the woman who at one point is warned about a mass murderer and immediately decides she should go ahead and wander in the sewers until she gets lost because it’s raining) - he made a button that activates a transmitter that warns him if she’s in danger. And that’s it. He doesn’t even tell her what it is, so by the time she tries to use it, it’s too late to do anything effective. Imagine if instead of a band of vigilantes cornering her, it was Twilight. “Oh, gee, but I put a transmitter on her car! Where could Cardia-chan have GONE? She turned it on, but this is just an empty alleyway with the car, no Cardia.”
Everyone scolds Impey about it, but that’s mostly because of a sudden uptick in mafia stuff (which to be fair would also be bad, because had it been actual mafia they’d have gotten there in time to find Cardia’s bullet-ridden corpse instead) and not because he let Cardia go unsupervised while Twilight is still looking for her.
Okay, that’s a lot of words harping on one thing, but it’s the vital starting point of this entire story. It’s important, and it is ridiculous. Anyway, moving on. Stuff happens that isn’t important except as a plot framing device. Cardia talks with Shirley and her dad, and immediately accidentally reveals her poison. As one does. Because the mafia looks at a living weapon and doesn’t immediately recoil in horror, Cardia instantly latches on to them to the point that she almost forgets Lupin’s crew exists for a few seconds. (Elaine and Etty, too)
She remembers that ‘oh, you kidnapped me and you kept me in London and not in a super obvious landmark like St. Paul’s Cathedral or some apartment in Baker’s Street, you screwed up!’ just in time for the rescue party to make their explosive entrance. The crew sans Saint Germain (because Germain would be murdering people and that would be unfortunate under the circumstances) arrive in a blaze of glory that is, frankly, pretty fun and has a cool CGI. It’s a bright spot that’s only slightly dragged down by Cardia koalaing the first second third (fourth counting Sholmes just being surprised on the train and then discounting it) group of people who don’t see her as a monster (in a timeline where she never saw her 665 past versions) immediately upon seeing her alien acid--I mean poison.
Saint Germain arrives home just in time to feel a bit awkward for missing Cardia’s monthly kidnapping and hints at plot stuff. Delly is also there and is cute enough that Saint Germain can’t help teasing him a little. Some time later, no one seems particularly hurried, confirming this is either right after Victor’s chapter or an AU where Finis didn’t show up in the lab and everyone ended up at a dead end related to Isaac. Sholmes shows up at the mansion because for some reason a case that has his name practically written on it is too much for him to handle on his own and he feels he needs Arsene’s thief-y mind to help him with it (maybe he’s suspects it’s a trap and is looking into the Certain Person he’s hunting?)  - For no reason in particular, he goes ahead and leads the Gordons to Germain’s mansion as well.
Because Germain is there, it’s a pretty okay scene despite that. Sholmes and Germain are very alike and understand each other extremely well, and it sucks how little they get to interact.
Alas, the good scene can’t last, because while there’s a bunch of adults in a room talking, they unfortunately dragged dead weight into it, and it’s just a count down before Shirley blows her top. THIS HERE IS THE FIRST INSTANCE OF SOMETHING THAT REALLY BOTHERS ME.
Everyone, Cardia included, keeps crowing about how Shirley is Cardia’s first/only friend that is “Her age and gender”. Shirley is 13. At the end of this route, they will make a point to show that she’s about Delly’s age - Delly who is like a little brother/son and who never gets a route even two fandiscs in, because he’s too young. Cardia (although actually like 6) is in the body of someone who’s 17-18 years old. She’s a ‘young lady’, but not a child. She’s old enough that it’s not weird for thousands of years old Germain to be in love with her, nor is it creepy that Impey wants to sex her like a day after meeting her, and anywhere from 6 months to a year from the end of the plot each route she gets married. She’s old enough that Jack the Ripper considers her a legitimate target. She is NOT 13. Shirley isn’t her age, Shirley doesn’t act like her age. She’s basically a kid Cardia constantly has to babysit and who drags Cardia into trouble with her childish antics. It’s annoying that the game conflates a prepubescent child with an adult just because they’re both teenagers.
Anyway.
Shirley, in all her infinite wisdom, throws a temper tantrum because REASONS, and decides to drag Cardia out of an important meeting to go ‘have fun’ around town. And not only that, but she demands to do it without a single guard. While there are drug crazed killers wandering around town, and more importantly Twilight soldiers still looking for Cardia. Lupin gang comes to the absolutely deranged conclusion that Cardia will be fine ‘if she only runs into one or two Twilight’ as if that has ever been the case.
Remember how they all berated Impey for letting Cardia go on her own because dangerous mafia was out in the town? And then Cardia IMMEDIATELY GOT KIDNAPPED? Well, they don’t, because they all come to the same conclusion that Impey did and completely forget there’s still a group of killer mafia out there who probably are all the more likely to target Cardia when the daughter of a rival family is with her. If they wanted Shirley to shut up/Cardia to have some girl time, but they weren’t willing to send any adults out after her because it would be a bummer to catch that guy up on what he missed later, they could have sent Delly off to secretly tail her. But, again...Delly has his statue and now wants NOTHING to do with this route. As well he should.
Obviously, Cardia gets kidnapped immediately.
But first:
Shirley drags Cardia all over the place like an over-excited puppy, until she makes it to the mafia controlled festival place. Evidently it’s not her mafia, because while people are polite to her she still has to pay and play the games to get prizes. The cliche ‘she’s so good at shooting that an intentionally broken gun at a carnival game is no match for her’ thing plays out, complete with the ‘begging her to stop or they’ll go broke’ thing. What happens if you win too much is that the owner just says ‘mmkay you’re done for today’, that’s all. Also, even if you won the whole inventory from him, chances are he’s already made so much from failed attempts that it’d just be an annoyance.
At their last stop before they go home, Shirley finally realizes they’re being tailed (great reflexes, Shirley), and naturally her 13 year old, no-gun, no backup self immediately sprints after the person she’s sure killed her mother. Cardia, instead of picking up the girl with her superior strength and speed and carrying her home, foolishly decides to go off into the alleyways - which she KNOWS she shouldn’t do - after her.
Shock. Shirley runs into a blatant trap, because she is a child. She barks and yaps at the mafioso because she could do literally nothing else when she’s not even armed, and then Cardia is kidnapped alongside Shirley. Good job, Shirley! Your father was part of a three-part collaboration to take down Avido, but you bravely marched yourself into his arms and gave him ultimate leverage against not one but two of those groups!
Instead of instantly being killed to send a message, or even immediately used as effective leverage, they’re fortunate enough to just get stuck on a ship. It’s a good thing Avido has no connections to Twilight, because it sure would suck if he kept Shirley for leverage and then sent Cardia off to Finis. Fortunately, Impey learned from his previous mistake and this time put the tracker ON Cardia. So they can find her dead body more easily, if she ran into literally anyone who didn’t decide to just keep her safely locked up somewhere instead of killing her.
Shirley tells her sob story, it pales in comparison to even Lupin’s past, but Cardia feels terrible for her anyway because she hasn’t heard any of those stories yet on this route. Shirley, who wouldn’t sound out of place as Leon’s daughter, screams and tantrums about how she’s definitely gonna kill Avido while trapped in a cell who-knows-where with no actual way to kill him. She nearly just kills herself instead, slamming uselessly into the door like a rabid dog. Cardia has to jump in the way just to stop her.
Because, despite her rampant kidnapping, Cardia is actually competent most of the time, once Shirley stops causing a ruckus Cardia manages to spring them from the cell. The escape doesn’t last, because Avido uses ‘infinite footsteps’ jutsu, and Cardia and Shirley are surrounded. Remember in the Train Robbery chapter where Cardia remarks that Van Helsing taught her it’s really hard to get overwhelmed in an enclosed space like a tight hallway?
Yeah, forget that.
Anyway, in a charming semi-callback moment, the wall explodes nearby, letting Van Helsing and Germain into the hallway, chattering pleasantly with each other. Germain looks dapper AF while walking through the wreckage of the wall, as usual. It’s a nice moment. And, you know, if you get rescued by Van and Germain you’re pretty much set. Not much is gonna overwhelm that.
EXCEPT WHEN IT DOES, HAH. Avido pulls the ol’ “I have your friends and if you don’t want them to die, you’d best come with me peacefully” and so naturally the noted war hero whose family died because he went along with such a demand and the hostage taker killed them anyway, and the multi-thousands of year old assassin who has not just seen every trick in the book but probably written the book, immediately fall for it and go along with Avido.
Everyone, including the trickster thief and the other mafioso, also fell for the trick and so everyone ends up gathered in one place at the ballroom as Avido wants. Fortunately, Avido didn’t bring them all together to easily execute them, because their total lack of trust for each other’s skills really would have bitten them all in the butt then (except Germain, who would have egg on his face shortly before he killed all the mafia on board in revenge, I’m sure). Instead, he just wants them to...be there.
No, he doesn’t have any specific purpose for them. He just wants them there. He also wants Cardia dressed up for no particular reason. Fortunately, the Gordons gave Cardia a fancy dress right before she got kidnapped, and Victor has the poison proofing down so well now that he can just go ahead and treat a complex ensemble like that while riding in a car speeding its way to Liverpool. Because...well, there’s no actual reason why he’d feel it was an emergency to treat that clothing, nor why he’d even have brought it, but it’s a good thing Victor really wanted to see Cardia in that dress.
I guess you can argue that Lupin decided it was a part of his plan to make Cardia strip down and swap clothes when they found her so she could sneak out, but...that’s a stretch and a half. Especially when they were exploding walls to get in and find her. Stealth is gone when you use explosions, boys.
Anyway, the outfits Lupin made for the boys are great. Yes, they’re a little plain and not nearly as quirky as their normal ones...but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Some annoying things like Impey’s always half-off sleeve are gone, and both Victor’s questionable color scheme and Lupin’s atrocity are replaced with a suit meant to make them look good. Still the pointless top hats though. Always the top hats.
Unfortunately, though Shirley’s also meant to change, the plot and game itself instantaneously forgets this and it’s never mentioned or shown. Even more unfortunate: you might see Cardia in a beautiful new outfit and hope for the boys to give some kind of impressed, breathtaken, or blushy response.
They won’t. No one even comments on how she looks beyond maybe Shirley. Not even Impey, noted horndog, makes a comment. Lupin who presumably is the reason they brought the dress at all makes no comment, In short, Cardia looking pretty is just for you, the player. It won’t make any difference except that she gets a CG or two dressed up in it.
Avido flexes that all the sketchy mafia and questionable nobility who attend a black market cruise are in danger if Lupin or Gordon makes a move. Fortunately for his plans, everyone except Shirley actually cares about that, and so their hands are tied. Again, not really sure why Avido would threaten his customers so that people who want to take him down and provide him zero benefit won’t do anything when he even says later he could gun them down in full view and none of his customers would find it weird.
When the gang and mafia are all put into an extravagant room that Saint Germain had previously booked for himself (because he’s a bit of a cad that loves his antiques, dammit, the fact that it’s illegally acquired is really not that important!) Shirley realizes it’s been practically a whole half hour since she’s made a nuisance of herself, and so she starts screaming and tantrumming because her father didn’t shoot Avido dead back when there were countless bystanders around and each one of her allies - herself included - had guns pointed at them.
No. She literally throws a shrieking tantrum that involves flinging things across the room when he sends her off essentially ‘to her room’, and then spends the rest of the night sobbing into Passy’s arms. This, the person who keeps whining and complaining that no one will treat her like an adult, that people keep sheltering, that Cardia bafflingly keeps trying to compare herself to. She has a childish meltdown when she’s told ‘no, we can’t just kill Avido right now’.
Amazing.
Her dad, Darius, tells his sob story. It’s basically the same as Shirley’s, nothing really to write home about. Honestly, I kept expecting some kind of twist where Shirley’s mother actually betrayed them and he’d been forced to kill her to save Shirley, or her mother was actually on the cruise ship working with Avido. That’s how boring and unimportant the backstory is. You think Impey and Lupin’s stories are limp? Shirley’s story is just a big old ‘so?’. Even the last detail Darius later adds is like ‘and? You got angry and wanted to kill someone for murdering your wife. But you didn’t.’
Imagine for a moment if Germain’s story was that he got to know that little boy, got attached, and then even though he desperately didn’t want to do it, he killed him like he was supposed to. And then nothing happened after that, he just went on continuing to Idea Apostle
YEAH! THAT’S RIGHT! EVEN THAT WOULD BE MUCH WORSE THAN DARIUS’ STORY.
I’m getting sidetracked here, but this is a brutal part of the story that’s hard to get through, because Shirley is so beyond obnoxious, screaming and throwing a literal fit because no one listens to her, while they play the sad music that means you’re supposed to care.
Anyway, because Avido was too dumb to kill the people who are determined to stop him, Lupin and the others immediately start plotting to stop him. There’s a drug plot that’s designed to make the statue Lupin steals matter and give Victor something to do. Cardia is a competent nurse and Victor looks hot while he saves someone’s life, but man did I think it was a trap when someone ran in saying Victor was calling for her. That would be giving this route WAY too much credit.
For reasons that aren’t clear, there’s a room that has a bunch of counterfeit treasures of everything that’s up for sale. They bad counterfeits, though, and couldn’t possibly be mistaken for the same item, so it’s not like it’s an art theft swap or something. It just serves to show where a small part of the drugs are hidden. Not all of them, mind, because that would give the room a reason to exist. Just some of it.
The crew split up. Impey and Van Helsing both go to the engine room so they can seize it and turn the ship around before it can go to international waters. Because for some reason crimes committed there would cause a war or something. Cardia probably could have mentioned to them that she took out the whole engine crew on her own, so using up the vampire AND the living weapon on that assignment isn’t likely to be necessary, but that’d require some kind of sense, which this route doesn’t have.
Victor, Lupin, and Germain do...stuff. I think Germain goes off to seize the drugs in the food, Victor goes off somewhere nondescript to make an antidote, and Lupin farts around for a while to waste some time. What’s important is that even though Cardia’s there to see all the assignments go out, Lupin secretly also told Germain to find all the valuables in the ship and set charges on them. Probably because it would take .5 seconds for Germain to overpower some cooks and mafia boys and everyone knows it.
Cardia, bereft of plot, goes back to the room to wait to be important, and finds out that Shirley realized she slept through her half hour and forced her way through a window...I guess to the outside of the ship? And scaled up the outside of the hull like the demon beast she is, to escape confinement in her room. So she can run off and be a waste of space and oxygen not in her room, but somewhere actively detrimental to all the plans everyone’s made without her.
Presumably because everyone is as sick of Shirley as I am at this point, no one even tries to look for her this time. Maybe they all hoped she fell off overboard, I dunno. You’d think they’d all know she’d make a beeline to Avido and go collect her there, banking on the fact that Avido doesn’t know they’re planning anything (effective) and is determined to make them play the part of innocent passengers right now. But nah. She’d just screw up any plan they made anyway.
Lupin showboats around and disseminates the antidote to all the passengers during the auction via a fancy champagne tower. Then, long before all of them could actually have drank their cups, he goes ahead and tells Avido exactly what he’s done, forcing them to move onto the next step. The step that definitely involves most of the passengers dropping their glasses in a blind panic.
Avido, by the way, is a human traficker. The reason he keeps Cardia alive and kidnaps her instead of leaving her be or killing her is because he thinks she’d sell for a high price. It’s not a secret that he does this. Mafia apparently do it all the time, to the point where the no-crime Gordon family casually discuss the possibility of selling Cardia until another person has to remind the first that ‘yo we don’t do that’. Avido also traffics drugs. Drugs which inevitably either kill the user or turns the user into a violent zombie akin to a Hidden Strength victim, meaning that he’s causing a lot of deaths. Avido has personally killed a whole lot of people. He murdered one of his henchmen just because they failed to get a statue he doesn’t even care that much about.
Got that? Avido’s a bad boy. Objectively, Avido is worse than just about anyone else in the game other than Victoria - who at least has her ‘greater good’ reasons - Isaac - who is insane with grief - and Azoth. Hidden Strength victims are out of their mind, and while Nemo is callous toward human life in the face of science, he doesn’t go out of his way to murder for kicks and giggles. He’s also insane. Omnibus, also, is a question of personal morality vs greater good. Avido? Stone-cold sane, no greater good involved, he just wants power because he thinks it sounds fun.
Now that we’ve established that, does anyone in the room just kill Avido?
No. No they do not. Instead, they waffle about it and ramble about philosophy until he’s able to wrench back the upper hand via sheer numbers (because Van and Germain are otherwise engaged), and backs everyone up onto the surface of the boat.
Sadly, Shirley didn’t fall off the boat, she just jumped into Avido’s arms so she could become his hostage. AGAIN. He doesn’t reveal this at first, even when they’re outside and he has the upper hand. He takes his time before he brings out the unconscious Shirley. Supposedly she got so far as to point a gun at Avido this time, but I don’t think I believe him, because her strategy up until this point has been ‘angrily yap at him hoping he’ll just off himself’. Plus she’s supposed to actually have some skill with a gun and is psychotically enraged at him. She’d definitely have shot him if she ever thought to bring a gun.
Fortunately, there’s still some competent people on board the ship, and Impey + Van Helsing bust through the top of the ship in Impey’s automobile to help turn the tide of the battle. Sisi is there too. Which makes one ask ‘where is Delly, then?’
The answer is ‘not in this route, screw you, he doesn’t want to be here’.
Where’s Germain? He’s busy. It’ll be obvious why in a bit. That said, they have Avido dead to rights once Van Helsing and Impey get there (it’s mostly Van. Impey’s great and all, but Van doesn’t need back up) What do they do? Do they kill this murdering scumbag who wants to rule the entire world just so he can kill people when he feels like it? Who’s sold girls off into slavery? Who’s killed people just because he felt annoyed?
NO. FOR IF YOU KILL ME, BATMAN, YOU WILL BECOME ME.
Now, Impey and Lupin don’t kill. Even when Lupin was like ‘Hey, I love this girl and if you say that again I’ll literally kill you’, he didn’t actually kill the guy when the person immediately said it again. Victor can do it, but it’s pretty deeply traumatizing to him, and he’s pretty firmly in the ‘might doesn’t make right’ camp. But Van Helsing does. Sure, he’s deeply traumatized from the war and he won’t kill unless necessary - pretty much it’s a hard sell to kill anyone not Finis shaped....but he does it. Between ‘crime family compromising its ideals for revenge and becoming criminals’ and ‘man under the protection of the crown killing a violent and horrible criminal he was sent to deal with who has directly endangered his friends’, Van’s gonna just step up and do it.
Instead though, it seems Lupin had told everyone on the team except Cardia about his actual plan, which was to blow all the treasures to hell instead, and let Shirley pull the trigger. because revenge, I guess.
Since the ship is now SINKING, Impey and everyone but Germain (hold pls, he’s busy) drive off of the ship onto the dock in a way that would definitely do damage to the car and the dock, and into the night with the assumption that the Yard will do clean up from there.
In the biggest plot twist of the entire route, when treated the exact same way he was last time he got caught and had his plans blow up in his face, Avido again doesn’t learn his lesson. Instead, he manages to get a mother heckin tank off of his sinking ship and chases the Impeymobile through the streets.
Let me take a moment to say: the insane scientist he got this from had BETTER be Nemo, or else all of Victoria’s dreams of the UK having superior military force to the rest of the world just went up in smoke. Because, fun fact, Germany wasn’t so hard to handle in WW2 because of mustard gas. It was their tanks. (and as another aside: Germany got beaten up in WW1, only to come back dominant in WW2, so Victoria’s entire ‘spark a world war now to ensure dominance forever’ plan wouldn’t work no matter what)
Anyway, back to the subject at hand: I’m not mad that they don’t know how to fight a tank. That’s understandable. Tanks are a big deal. My problem is that the tank is able to plow right through solid brick buildings lengthwise. Not one or two, but just...constantly plowing through the alleyways at a speed so high that an automobile can’t escape. That is not how it works. Another problem is that neither Impey nor Lupin ever realize that the tank can’t turn for heck, and the automobile could spin circles around it if necessary.
But most of all, Avido pops his stupid head out of the tank at one point during the chase, and somehow it continues to be piloted. There’s never any mention or indication that anyone is in that tank besides him, he’s just Mr. Fantastic, and can stretch out and bend his legs infinitely, allowing him to pilot a tank full speed while standing more than halfway out of the thing. Worse than that super power, we have an impenetrable literal tank chasing the Lupin group around, destroying Liverpool, backing them into a corner. Soon they’re going to run out of a place to run, or they’re going to get hit and die.
Why, then, does Van Helsing see Avido pop his stupid head out, and proceed to do literally nothing? Obviously at this point he should just kill Avido, because nothing else will stop him, but just a few minutes before it’s mentioned that Van Helsing is so quick to switch from shrapnel to rock salt that it looks like some kind of a super power, which means he has ZERO reason he can’t just shoot Avido in the face with rock salt and knock the fool out.
Instead...they do nothing and just listen to him babble for a bit until his head pops back in again. Then they discuss jumping over to the tank and probably intend to get in there to get at him. You know, like they could have just done if he popped his head out.
Faced with all possible choices, Lupin decides the smart thing to do is to ram full speed into a renovating hotel and hope Avido is stupid enough to follow in. And, you know, that the falling debris will do anything to a tank that rammed right through an entire alleyway worth of buildings without slowing down or looking at all damaged.
Van Helsing is Van Helsing, and he protects the automobile from excessive damage, and lo - the plan works. It incapacitates the tank.
Avido, who could now safely play dead and wait for them to leave, instead climbs out of the tank (uninjured) and comes at them again. At this point although he was initially intimidated by Van Helsing he seems to be aware that no one is ever going to kill him, because he charges Van Helsing again.
Cue long boring monologue involving Avido’s slightly more interesting sob story and Darius absolutely refusing to ever kill Avido because IDEALS.
Currently they looped back around to the port and are near the boat, which may make you say ‘oh wait, where is Saint Germain anyway?’ The answer to that question is ‘not there, because we can’t have a literal time assassin who massacres entire villages of innocent people for the sake of the timeline be here while we pretend that good people don’t kill’. Sholmes also sat this out, because he would have been given permission to kill Avido legally, and we can’t have that.
But yes.
Germain’s busy on the boat threatening to kill people for some sweet art, while everyone is passionately preaching at Avido that they’d never kill him, not ever. Which is good for Avido, because if Germain weren’t busy getting filthier rich, the conversation would have been cut very short.
Y’know.
When Germain just stabbed him through the heart from behind.
As he does.
Also, we’d have to answer the question of ‘if this man is endangering the entire world with his plan, or even all of London, isn’t this a serious concern for the proper path of humanity? Ie; shouldn’t Germain be killing this man?’ if he were there.
Darius is like ‘well, you’re family, so even though you’re a murderous psychopath who purposefully got people nonconsensually addicted to a deadly drug and sold who knows how many innocents into slavery, I’m gonna look out for you’ just in time for Leonhart to show up and flail angrily at Arsene.
He immediately blames Lupin and the gang for the mass destruction of Liverpool, and instead of anyone saying “Well, actually it’s that tank there, It kept shelling the place and mowing through buildings because Avido is a psychopath”, Victor goes “Well, we have no excuse”
yes
yes you do
you didn’t do the destruction. (Except the hotel, but at that point it was ‘damage a rebuilding hotel or die’, so really...)
There’s a vaguely humorous bit where the mafioso realizes that the royal guard isn’t interested in arresting the mafia, just the random band of thieves, and then, wonderfully...Saint Germain finally shows up.
Truly, he lights up everything when he’s around. Aside from the times when he’s obligated to turn his murder blades on Cardia. That’s just sad.
Anyway, left to his own devices, Germain extorted a bunch of mafia into overfilling his automobile full of priceless treasures and cash. He’s shameless about it. It’s adorable. Give that man your art. Do it. It’s not a request, he’s taking your art.
Anyway, since the Impeymobile is wrecked, they all hop into Germain’s getaway car, and zoom off in a pretty cute ending CG, benny hill music playing as Leon chases them and Victor - poor, precious baby - nearly falling out of the car like a dweeb.
Sadly, there’s an epilogue, because this route is bad and it won’t let Germain save it.
Oh yeah, there’s an irrelevant noble who dies right before Germain probably would have killed him anyway. It’s stated that no one really tries to stop Germain from keeping his treasures, because most of them were originally acquired illegally and some are even national treasures of other nations, so even acknowledging they exist would possibly spark a war that Victoria totally, definitely doesn’t actually want for realsies.
Victoria responds to them saving the country and the world by not really responding. Instead, she sends them an invoice for the damage to Liverpool that they didn’t cause. It’s just so knee-slappingly hilarious that the invoice somehow matches the cost of those aforementioned priceless treasures. Because that gag is ALWAYS FUNNY AND NEVER OLD! IT’S SO FUNNY! HAHA THEY MADE MONEY BUT THE COST TOOK UP ALL THE MONEY! HAHA
except you know...
how...
how does the cost match priceless artifacts? Germain isn’t selling them, and he can’t even if he wants to. There’s not even price tags on some of them. How is it they’re ‘in the red’? Just the cash that was in the car?
Yeah, no, it’s stupid.
And to just cap off that bowl of stupid, we get to see The Demon, who unfortunately survived her repeated kamekaze attempts. This time the Lupin gang remembered that Twilight exists, so Delly and Passy go with her and Cardia on the town.
Naturally, because Shirley’s a little shit, she harasses and disrespects Delly.
...Well, it’s supposed to just be ‘two kids playing’, but Shirley’s a miserable little cave troll without a single redeeming iota of her being, so it just comes off as her being unreasonably rude to Delly.
There’s another photographer moment like in the Airship picture, but instead of a cute picture, it’s cropped out Delly and Passy, and just focuses on Shirley and Cardia holding ice cream, while the little brat has five scoops on her cone, which is definitely going to end up mostly melted on the street.
The route ends with Cardia being happy that she’s ‘made a friend that’s her same gender and age’. After establishing RIGHT BEFORE that Shirley is about Delly’s age, and is playing like a child with him while Cardia and Passy watch them.
Also for some weird reason, everyone is convinced that Sisi is a guard dog in this route. Just because.
You might think ‘is there a pay off with that whole statue thing’? no
You might think ‘okay, so what’s the conclusion with Herlock Sholmes? Does he toss some part of his earning for the assignment to Lupin and the others who actually did 100% of the job while he sat back and did nothing?’ no, nothing happens
You may think ‘okay, at least maybe they clarify what happens with the Twilight, or where Shirley is during the epilogues?’ no
no they don’t.
you may even think ‘at least Avido is dead or in prison or something permanently punished for all the horrible-’
no
no
it’s a bad route
it’s an awful route
it’s bad, bro.
Just enjoy the boys - particularly Germain - being cute. That’s all you get.
But not Delly.
Delly didn’t want to be a part of this crappy route.

Chapter 14
Story Summary:  What would’ve happened if Meave’d had her way? What if Aelin’d gone to Doranelle when she was “supposed to”? How much of the story would have changed? Spoiler alert: a lot. Chapter sumary: the night at her parents manor comes and Aelin hears about a terrible muder

Aelin knelt in the snow before her parents’ manor, blood coated her nightgown. The fire was consuming the house before her, making the stench of the death even more putrid. The princess fought to keep the tears streaming down her face. Desperately wanting the cleansing that came with them. But there were none left to be shed. She’d been crying since it all happened.
The strange creature had crept inside her parents’ bedroom in the night. Alerting only Rowan. Newly arrived after an entire night of bending winds to his will to warn them. “Your king is dead” he said through jagged breaths “The murderer hasn’t appeared yet but Lorcan is hunting them” he noticed Aelin then and apologized to her first. After all, her uncle was gone. But just as quickly the Prince reminded them all that her father was meant to go and claim his crown in the morning.
They had one last night to mourn their lost as a family, he added after laying his plans for their journey. For after that night they would have to be king, queen and heir. Mourning not for themselves but for their people. “Let yourself mourn your past lives as well”
The Prince let them to do just that then. Not leaving the manor – in fact, he actually stayed outside her parents’ room for protection as he was sure they weren’t safe yet – but letting them have their privacy all the same.
At first, Aelin hadn’t even heard him fight what she was sure was a demon sent from Adarlan itself. She only knew of it when she woke seeking consolation after a particular bad dream. Totally unaware that an entire new one was unfolding for her parents outside the door.
The creature was human-like and entirely other at the same time. It was a beautiful nightmare – as Aelin would like to tease after some years went by and the horror passed with them. Rowan was pinning him down, screaming something in the lines of Who sent you? When it saw her at the door and, just as the worm had, reached her mind. Bringing her most horrible memories and dreams to light.
She was soon kneeling and screaming for him to stop. Not understanding anything but her agony. It made her feel like no one was listening, as if no one cared. Whispering those lies as it reached farther in her mind, seeming to reach the perfect horror to torments her. The princess clawed at her scalp begging the images to cease.
Until her most recent nightmare unfolded in front of her.
There in front of a stone throne was Rowan stripped from his shirt. His wounds were pooling so much blood that it reached her feet. There was a crackling of a whip and he immediately had to bend forward from the pain. “Dear niece, you know what to do.” Meave purred to Aelin and she did know. But she didn’t dare to.
“Isn’t it a small price to pay for him?” Rowan was beginning to beg her to back down with his eyes. With that strange way of communicating they had. Do not give in to her, Aelin.
“Isn’t his life worth it?” She wanted to say no, she knew Rowan wanted her to say it too. But that would never be true. His life mattered to her more than anything by now. He was her first friend, they bonded over the year, he was family to her.
So she payed the price. Something she always woke up before rendering. But not now. She saw her flames leave her in a storm to be consumed just as quickly by the fae queen. There were no embers calling to her anymore, where there was a torrent humming now there was only silence.
“Was that so hard?” Meave sighed as if her niece had been a brat all this time.
Aelin was beginning to walk towards Rowan. Fully prepared to carry him out of the castle if she had to, no mind she couldn’t’ve ever managed to do it. Or that she wasn’t sure she could ever walk again without her magic. When she heard the whip again. Heard him crying out, head bowed. The queen was marveling at her idiocy. Aelin heard another cry and, when she turned to go to the Prince, saw the image that sent her to her knees. Her family were right beside him. Her parents, lady Marion and Quinn, Aedion and even Elide. They were all bound and being whipped because of her. All suffering because of her.
She roared then. A bellowing that would hunt her dreams – and even Rowan’s – for years after. The sound coming out of her wasn’t from this world. Perhaps of any other than the pit of fire inside of her. The well of magic filled again with flames. And Aelin knew from the chirring in her veins that the fire she felt was real. The nightmare was not. The burning inside of her reminded her exactly of who her real enemy was at that moment.
So, she let the magic rise to defend her. Let the flames consume everything at their wake. For she knew Rowan was at the other side. The certainty of his wind protecting her family and service staff made her consume everything including the demon trying to play with her mind. She made sure its screams rivaled the chorus of her nightmares’.
The smoke rose above the remaining of the manor now. The blood of the creature somehow had reached her, staining her silk gown black. Somehow Rowan managed to keep all their clothes untouched. Though she was sure she would want nothing that reminded her of the night.
“Whatever we’ll do with the other body?” lady Marion whispered behind her.
Oh yes, the other assassin. Aelin almost forgot about him. The one whose blood stained her as well. The prick who foolishly wanted to keep his pay more than his life. For even with a manor setting itself on fire and a fae warrior nearby, he believed himself skilled enough to kill the princess. It would have frightened her if he would’ve appeared an hour before she saw her most horrible nightmare unfold to life before her. But he hadn’t. So before Rowan could reach him to cut his head off, she’d burned it entirely and reached the man’s knife using techniques she only learned a week before. Quickly as her feet had let her, she tackled the man and plunged the knife in his heart over and over. Blood sprayed over her but as the flames grew hungrier it quickly turned into a horrible steam.
Years later it surprised her – and horrified her even – how much hollowed she had been that night. To have killed for the first time, at such a young age and not have cared at all. Not at that time at least. It surprised her how she had turned and see the blanched face of the Prince and then her family’s, and still hadn’t believed she’d done something terrible. After all, she rezoned then, why had she trained for a year by then if she wasn’t going to use the training.
Still, the weeks after that night the nightmares followed her. Some were play by play. Other’s were of the live that other Aelin might have lived. Of a night were Rowan wasn’t there. Where she woke up in a pool of blood, her parents’ blood. Of a life where lady Marion fought and died for her. A life that ended in the Florine river.
If that was the price she had to pay though, for that life to have never been unfolded. Aelin knew, even from that young age, that she would gladly still be paying it for years, if meant she would stay home.
“Are you mixing water, cousin?” Aedion teased her from what he called his chopping station.
“No, I’m not” Aelin left the spoon aside, sheepishly eyeing Rowan standing by the kitchen doors.
“Yes, you are! Why are you mixing water? It just needs to boil. It says right here!” He pointed to the cooking book spread beside the vegetables.
Months after king Orlons’ dead, Rowan was watching over the cousins as they insisted on preparing their meal for the night. He stood there long enough to remind himself never to eat something made by the two of them. Only If he needed it to survive, he would go near their food, he bowed under his breath.
They were laughing, though. It was something scarce to hear for him, especially coming from Aelin. The girl had gone quiet for so long that he hardly recognized her sometimes. It had only been months since the princess lost her state home at the edge of the Florine. Lost her uncle and most of the members of her court. Only months since she’d took a life. Indeed, he could understand how she forgot how to laugh in that time. But still, he reminded himself every time he tried to make her smile, she’s still a child and she needed to feel like one from time to time.
“Isn’t it always strange to see the children laugh in times of war?” Lorcan said behind him as the cousins continued bickering about their meal.
“It isn’t the first war where we see it happen and I don’t think it would be the last” he whispered the words to his commander. A silent reminder that the laughter should not be stopped now.
“I wager it’s a reminder for their people. A reminder to us all, as to why we are fighting…
“… to keep their laughter alive” Rowan nodded. They were few things he and Lorcan agree upon. More so in the last few days than before.
“‘She should join the fight” And there it was. At least Lorcan said it low enough so the children’s fae ears wouldn’t hear.
Rowan didn’t dare to reply. They’ve been at it for days now, ever since they party arrived at the school of magic. It seemed a joke to the fae Prince hearing such a thing at first. After all, he’d insisted on bringing Arlin to this place if only because he thought she would be safe surrounded by magic wielders. Never knowing this was a place of healers and peaceful folk. There were no warriors to defend her. Only the ones charged with the protection of the students.
He’d been a fool to assume. A fool not to ask any more questions. Rowan only wanted to take her out of the city-soon-to-be-sieged. Get her somewhere safe and away from Adarlan’s war. The one declared shortly after her father claimed his throne. The one that started once Adarlan didn’t recognize that claim, daring to ask Terrasen to bend the knee before their Empire. Tossing some old lineage as the proof of their right to the crown.
The castle of Orynth had been pure madness that day. Council meetings finally deciding to declare war. Outraged courtiers declaring their undying support to the Royal Family. Lorcan and Vaughan – the only ones who arrived in time – exchanging strategies to one another as they pondered how long it would take for the rest of the cadre to get there. Rhoe Galathynius putting her family safety first and asking him to take Aelin and Aedion away. He could almost remember how the kid screamed and kicked, refusing to be parted from her mother. Of Aedion, claiming he could stay and fight.
They decided to let her to the school so she could keep her training. So they could defend the students if need be. Her father even insisted Rowan took Lorcan with them, dispensing one of the most seasoned warriors to keep the children safe.
They thought Adarlan would go directly to the capital. Using all their might to siege Orynth and take the throne. They though wrong. For if their scouts and Rowan’s own eyes were to be believed, they were marching right at the school gates.
They considered the possibly of the troops depleting Terrasen’s moral sacking the villages first, gong the way up north tormenting the weak. A strategy they thought Adarlan would consider wasteful, especially if they wanted to rule the people once the crown was seized. They were fools to dismiss it completely, Lorcan prided himself of reminding them.
Still, he would not let her fight. Not even go near the soldiers called upon in the last day to defend her. “I said no, her father said no, her mother said no” he turned then to Lorcan “Even his bloody cousin said no.” He growled the last words.
“And yet, she said she will”
“Aelin is just a child”
“She’s still the princess. Why shouldn’t she have a said in the matter” Lorcan seemed to be taunting him and yet Rowan knew his commander believed in the chance Aelin’s fire could give them.
Rowan walked away from the kitchens. Leading the conversation away from said princess ears. “Because if the war takes her father’s life, she’s the only heir” he growled as he prepared himself to list the other dozens of reasons, he’d been arguing with Lorcan for the last week. “Because her people need her to be alive. Because Maeve has plans for her and she needs her alive. Because Meave will have our heads if something happens to her. Because her parents would have our heads if something happens to her” he said all of it all the while his reasons stayed at bay in the very core of him Because I believe she’s my caranam, because she’s my friend, because for some gods-forsaken reason if she dies I don’t think I will be able to keep on living as I did before her.
“She has more power than any other magic wielder in this school, she can make a great difference in the battle to come”
“We already are their difference, magic isn’t the only thing that win wars and we both know it”
“But it changes the ties. The odds, and you have been the one to prove that for centuries now or have you forgotten?”
“We already have magic then. The students already have powers that can win the fight. Why else have you been training them.”
“She’s already trained. Have already killed with flames” Lorcan was pushing more than before. Pressing every side of Rowan past argument and still he would not take it. Not with her.
“She’s just eight and -”
“And she can decide for herself” Aelin stood beside his cousin not three feet away from the fae warriors who’ve been so distracted by their fight that hadn´t noticed her head picking out of the kitchens to hear their fight, nor did they heard the cousins approach them. “I’m only eight but I already know that there’s a chance I would never be nine if I don’t help with this battle” the princess stared right in Rowan’s eyes as she said “just as I know there are other eight year old who are willing to fight and would not stand a chance if I don’t help to protect them”
“Those eight-year-old aren’t the future of a kingdom” Rowan tried to reason.
“‘The hell they aren’t.” the princess hissed “As the masters scholars sometimes like to preach to me, the only thing that makes them different from me is their tittle, flimsy papers that only have the meaning that we give them.” Aelin’s cheeks turned red as she continued “My title and right only would have meaning to me if I do something with it. If I don’t fight for them, why should anyone fight for me?”
“Where in Hellas name have you learned that, kid?” Lorcan frowned at her. Rowan was sure the prick would’ve never guessed the princess to be so righteous. But he knew as well as the likely place where she learned.
“‘From a book” she said as she walked away from them “the tales of Brannon’s. The journey to his crown” Aelin returned to the kitchens then. For her the matter settled. Aedion trailing behind her, clearly biting back the need to say something.
Once she was out of ear shot Rowan could feel Lorcan stare, could even hear the question there. He closed his eyes already shaking his head. “She can’t. They’ll need a ruler like her after this war. We can’t”
Lorcan led him to the kitchens as he assured him, ever the commander with an order taken. “You heard the queen-to-be. She’s to fight” before entering he lay his plans for her “She’d be here at the top of the roof, shooting flames to their army, I’ve seen her with a bow and arrow. Far away from the battle but still keeping the forces away from the gates and to our swords and the ones to come”
Rowan glanced over the cousins once again bickering about their food. Tasting ash in his mouth, his magic desperately seeking hers.
“‘It’s not as glorious as helping her scape, but it’s something” Lorcan clapped his back in the only way he would ever show he understood his fear. The only way he would let him know he would be there till the end.
“There must be our end if you really intended to make a joke just now” he grinned at his commander.
“I wouldn’t give up un us yet, Whitethorn” Lorcan said as he left, most likely to share his new plans with his soldiers. Rowan knew they could hold the line for a few days. Especially since Fenrys was in his way already. Reports estimated Meave’s army to be there in a week.
Rowan knew the next days would be the hardest he was going to have since the days he lost her mate. He sometimes wondered when in the past year had they become part of something he could call a family? It made him sick to be betraying the ones that should have been his real family. The confusion made him wonder even more, just as the thought of losing them made all seem hopeless anyway.
And yet he couldn’t help but smile when he saw the cousins. Couldn’t help but bit back a laugh when Aedion spited out his finished soup.
“This saltier than the Dead Island’s sea water.” The kid desperately cried out while flipping the pages of the cookbook. “It doesn’t even have that much salt in it!” Aedion narrowed his eyes at Aelin “What did you do?”
“Remember when you thought I was just mixing water?” Aelin murmured the words, a sheepish smile already confessing for her.
The warrior did chuckle then, stepping in to the kitchens ready to end the matter before it created a new war inside the institute. “Step aside children, I’ll teach you how it’s done. Princess, please stand over the corner” Aedion began to laugh but Rowan soon added “And you, Prince, in the other corner.”
Not a week later the news of the battle of the prodigies spread like the princess’ wildfire. Terrasen won that day. Songs were sung of the foreigners that helped win against Adarlan’s army. A few were created in honor of the few magic wielders that lost their life bringing tidal waves and sickness to their enemies.
But there was a single chanted throughout all Erilea, a song of the angel that defended the Magic institute from above all, the one hammering the troops with her blue fire, the one who raised a wall of impenetrable flames around the stone structure once the enemies reached the gates. The one who consoled the children inside the tower. The one who inspired hope from the skies.
There were people who whispered of the mark in her brow. People who swore there was a halo around her head as she showed no mercy to her enemies. People who saw it was really her crown of fire. People who didn’t care what it was but cared for her. She was Aelin of the Wildfire, protector of her people, angel or not.
There were only two people who knew what happened to her afterwards. It had been Rowan after all who felt her magic burn out. It had been the Prince Aedion the one who stayed by her bed as she healed once Rowan’s own magic demanded him to sleep. Only Aedion was the one trusted to change the frozen rags every few hours. They were the ones who knew how much the win had costed to her.
Only them and her family knew of her weakness for there were still battles to come. There were still people to give hope to, her people. There was still a war to be won.

We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story
Welcome to the 'highglossfinish' room. Jalaperilo: yo! Knock Out: Hello there! Jalaperilo: been a while since i dropped by Jalaperilo: omg, I was JUST listening to Sawbones! Knock Out: But how good to have you! Jalaperilo: find the clip where justin looses it when sydnee uses the word 'exquisit' in medical terminology Knock Out: Do you have a link by any chance? Jalaperilo: Sawbones. If you wanna be disguisted by human medical history, its the go to podcast thenightetc: Fun fact, it creeps me the hell out when someone keeps saying my name. Jalaperilo: hahah Knock Out: I love the sound of my own name, but that's just me and anything pertaining to myself.
thenightetc: ...Okay, this IS pretty funny Jalaperilo: I'm with thenight. it annoys me if i hear my name too much Jalaperilo: it means people want things from me thenightetc: Yeah. thenightetc: It's... smarmy. thenightetc: In the worst way. Jalaperilo: yup thenightetc: So what are we watching?  Good movie or movie to mock? Knock Out: Pure mockery! Jalaperilo: julia child?? Knock Out: Oh yes. Jalaperilo: nice thenightetc: Oh, boy! thenightetc: *could do with some mocking after today* thenightetc: Worms aren't that elastic Jalaperilo: birds also dont have quiffs thenightetc: ...Is this... a sequel? Knock Out: No, thankfully. Knock Out: "Yes. But technically speaking, ain't you?" thenightetc: Haha, did they give the t-rex herbivore teeth? Jalaperilo: true Jalaperilo: did they come from dinosaurs or just pteradons? Knock Out: Oh, pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs. Breakdown is adamant on that one. Jalaperilo: pteranodon* Jalaperilo: i know Jalaperilo: i didt know if birds came from dinosaurs or just pteranodons Knock Out: That's another thing this movie likes to drive home. Some organics eat meat and that's terrible. thenightetc: Only if the meat has a face!  Which, uh, in this movie apparently it does, going by the worm and the fish. Knock Out: Oh! They came from dinosaurs, apparently. thenightetc: oh my god thenightetc: What--what's in that stuff Knock Out: Nothing good. Jalaperilo: if only it was that easy to make Grimlock docile lol Knock Out: If someone did that to Grimlock, I'm fairly sure it would constitute a crime. thenightetc: Ahhhh, so it's okay to eat meat that somebody ELSE killed. Knock Out: But not okay to be a massive animal and step on things by accident. Jalaperilo: people need to remember that its ok to decide to not eat meat, but it WAS the reason we evolved to be so cognizent as a species Jalaperilo: no its not Knock Out: Smart enough to make up their own minds, but not smart enough to know what lunch is. Knock Out: Or what children are. thenightetc: This, uh, seems very morally dubious. thenightetc: Just go ahead and create some people because some kids want to meet them Knock Out: Why create some people when you can kidnap them? thenightetc: Wellllll, they were just animals before.  He made them INTO people. Zephra85: OMG I saw the description on the tumblr post and and immedietely knew Zephra85: 'OMG WE'RE BACK' Zephra85: Also hi everyone! Knock Out: Welcome to the disaster, Zephra human! thenightetc: Hi! Jalaperilo: yo yo Zephra85: I was obsessed with this movie a sa child thenightetc: That seems like an incredibly extra way to make a sandwich Zephra85: go big or go home thenightetc: Oh, yeah, just stick your hand right in his mouth.  It's safe! Jalaperilo: I had never heard of this until like 20 minutes ago Knock Out: Smart enough to handle this, remember. thenightetc: Honestly, he's lucky he didn't just drive straight into the river... ocean? Lusey: -peeks in- Knock Out: Hello there! Zephra85: Yo Lusey: hello! this movie is so dumb I love it Zephra85: The 90's had a lot of scenes with kids handling construction cranes Lusey: he's not even a t-rex thenightetc: EXHIBIT?! Jalaperilo: there she is! thenightetc: exCUSE me? Lusey: they gonna kill and stuff 'em Zephra85: Yes because this is clearly less conspicuous Lusey: "hey babe" I wish I had this kid's confidence wtf thenightetc: wtf indeed Jalaperilo: what was it about the 80's and 90's where it was a streetwise orphan boy and the red head up town girl? Zephra85: objectively this movie is probably bad but I have so much love and nostalgia for it idgaf thenightetc: Jesus christ, that place is huge.  They must be freakin millionaires Lusey: yup Lusey: but yeah this movie sucks but the last villain scene is spooky Zephra85: oh god seriously Lusey: wont say why or how but Lusey: hoo boy Lusey: it made up for so much Zephra85: it's so subtle but holy *** it's wild at the same time thenightetc: oh yeah, nobody'lll notice THAT Zephra85: things like this can only happen in New York 'cause they're so jadded Knock Out: Eugh. thenightetc: oh my god thenightetc: Why this Jalaperilo: way too young to be a debutante Zephra85: they got things to do and places to go they can't let bs like dinosaurs or aliens get in their way Lusey: what's that parent's problem Knock Out: You should wish for less rats in the subway, little human. Lusey: that child is like 5 and you ruined her life Zephra85: parenting at its finest Zephra85: Having fun with human tech and connections, Knock Out? Knock Out: Endless fun. Knock Out: Hmm, is the picture quality suffering too much? Lusey: see wtf lady Lusey: let her believe thenightetc: Nah, it's fine thenightetc: oh nO Lusey: that's right Lusey: musical thenightetc: I wasn't prepared thenightetc: "things to chew"  kinda sounds like he wants to eat everyone Knock Out: Killing spree ending, just once! Zephra85: (jams out 'cause f*** it all she loves this song) thenightetc: Well, there WAS Little Shop of Horrors. Knock Out: Hmm, true. Knock Out: SMART. ENOUGH. TO HANDLE THIS. thenightetc: ...And there he goes explicitly saying he wants to eat a human Lusey: I think he's implying they'd be gross. but still haha Lusey: seriously who'd run away from TALKING dinosaurs thenightetc: "that's the guy who was foreshadowed!" Jalaperilo: bring back julia child Jalaperilo: lost my green Lusey: I think I gotta head out actually. connection is shot on my end. but enjoy bad dinos Knock Out: An attempt will be made. Have a good night! Zephra85: Bye! Jalaperilo: I'm heading out as well. Its 2am here and I have to be up at 9 thenightetc: Goodnight! Knock Out: Goodnight! Jalaperilo: nighty night Night! Zephra85: 'Nigh! Zephra85: *night Zephra85: man that little girl and her mom get around FAST Zephra85: also the mom's recovered rather well from her freak out before Knock Out: Scrap. So close. thenightetc: "Keep coming or maybe stay away" thenightetc: Dontgonearthe Castle thenightetc: No, idiot, they just left because they're adults and didn't feel like beating up a twelve-year-old thenightetc: Hahahahha thenightetc: Crushing their stupid dreams thenightetc: Is he literally the devil Knock Out: This is normal. thenightetc: Oh, totally Zephra85: not suspecious at all nope thenightetc: Why did SHE sign it Knock Out: "Naughty boys delight" Zephra85: Bah looks like I gotta ditch too, the bf wants the good laptop thenightetc: Pffff, minors can't sign contracts. thenightetc: Though, I guess he's the devil, so Zephra85: 'Night everybody! Thanks for the stream, Knock Out! Knock Out: Goodnight! Glad you could pop in! Zephra85: Oh, and since Breakdown never checks his tumblr anymore, can you tell him happy birthday for me? Knock Out: Will do! Zephra85: Alrighty I'm gone ENJOY CREEPY CIRCUS DINOSAURS GUYS Knock Out: Looks like it's just you and me, night human. thenightetc: I guess that guy's actions make a little more sense in light of the news that he's the devil's brother. Knock Out: This one seems slightly more invested in whether dinosaurs live or die. Knock Out: If only from a business perspective. thenightetc: This got creepy fast, though Knock Out: What disturbs me is that they don't seem willing or able to just grab the children and run. Knock Out: Wasn't that literally the point of A Clockwork Orange? thenightetc: Yes, I mean, maybe they're too squeamish for fresh meat now, but... thenightetc: Seems like they could also grab the contract and destroy it. Knock Out: They're barely intelligent enough to function and physically incapable of defying rules. What could possibly go wrong? thenightetc: Nothing, clearly. Knock Out: I can see why the "legitimate circus" fired him. thenightetc: "Evil" Knock Out: Nice of him to let them stick around for pancakes, though. thenightetc: "oh no, consequences!" Knock Out: "And that's terrible for some reason." thenightetc: Oh, so he IS using some real demons.  I was going to say. Knock Out: They can't seem to decide whether he's using real demons or if the fact that he isn't using real demons is bad. thenightetc: I guess it's a mix? Knock Out: Apparently. thenightetc: Real demons, and poor saps who were dumb enough to sign contracts with Literally The Devil. thenightetc: Not reassuring! Knock Out: Now see, this would have made more sense with that whole deleted chunk about a crow pecking out his eye. thenightetc: Why is everyone freaking out and trying to run, though?  It's clearly a show. Knock Out: The humans in this movie have proved to be overexcitable. thenightetc: Aw, c'mon, what would eating this guy ruin. thenightetc: What if he just ate his arm or something; he can live without that. Knock Out: Just bite off his shins. thenightetc: Little bit off the top. Knock Out: He'll never miss it. thenightetc: And neither will anyone else. Nickel: Ooh. Not a bad lookin' ship, there. Knock Out: Such a waste of a good ship. thenightetc: Why this Knock Out: You are infants. Nickel: õ-õ Nickel: ô_ô Knock Out: Spoiler alert: We never learn what the surprise was. thenightetc: ô_ô indeed. Nickel: I'm not sure I want to... Knock Out: Why didn't he do this ages ago and get a job at a circus where his act will actually fit in? thenightetc: Who knows? thenightetc: ...Did HE not have a magical contract? thenightetc: WELL then. Nickel: Well, now I know the humans have their own version of scraplets... Knock Out: Julia Child, you ruined everything. Stop talking. thenightetc: Something about "reveal the miracle of yourselves" doesn't sound right. Nickel: KID. GET BACK BEHIND THE ROPES. THEYRE THERE FER A REASON Knock Out: Dear Unicron. thenightetc: ... Nickel: what blatant disregard fa boundaries. Knock Out: Crowd a room with children and teach them to keep secrets from their parents. Knock Out: Without ever changing outfits. Nickel: Who took all of those pictures. thenightetc: The devil's brother? Knock Out: The old man on the ship. The families don't know about them. thenightetc: That was a trip from start to finish. Nickel: I'd apologize fa comin in so late, but I feel like I really dodged a bullet, there. Knock Out: You have no idea. Knock Out: Why couldn't we have had this version of the song? Nickel: they had ta save tha best bit fa last, I suppose? Knock Out: Point. Nickel: I know I just got here, but I needa run a quick errand. Are ya endin' things here, Doc? or do ya have more plans? Knock Out: I think we'll wrap it up here for tonight. Patient reports beckon, sadly. Nickel: Lord almighty, I feel ya. thenightetc: Awww.  Well, it was fun!  Thanks for the stream. :) Knock Out: Thank you for the commentary! Nickel: Thanks indeed. (-w-) Knock Out: Good night, everyone! thenightetc: Goodnight!

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 20 Review-DEM EYES & Papa-Daughter Time-My Thoughts/Review!
Hi, everyone! Emi’s here for my review of episode 20 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations!
Now I know everyone might wanna rip me a new asshole for being a day late but I highly recommend you read this post of mine I made yesterday!
http://mrs-gossipgirl.tumblr.com/post/164227588887/whats-your-schedule-like-this-year
In any case, let’s dive in!!
Tumblr media
The episode starts off from the last one where the masked person who attacked Sasuke is later revealed to be Celebi!
Tumblr media
Or rather his lookalike XP
Tumblr media
This raises massive red flags for Sasuke who decided to send a message to Naruto via his handy-dandy traveling hawk
Tumblr media
This then leads Naruto to contact Kakashi who estimates that the person who attacked Sasuke might be an Uchiha survivor
Tumblr media
Jeesh, Naruto! Let an old man relax when he wants to retire! Geez....
But on a serious note, Kakashi’s note honestly makes a lot of sense because just because Itachi killed the Uchiha who were in the Leaf Village doesn’t mean those were the only Uchihas in the world so there possibly could be more Uchiha around.
Just Saiyan.
Speaking of said “Uchihas”, we see how the mysterious boy meets with a cloaked figure who looks to be his master. And it’s shown how they both consider Sasuke to be nothing more than a disgrace to the Uchiha, mainly because he killed Itachi.
Tumblr media
Then again, Itachi is the revered fan favorite of the series.
.....Save for Minato and Madara XD
In any case, we switch to Sarada who visits her mother in the hospital before going to her closet and dons her Gaiden/Boruto movie garb
Tumblr media
FINALLY!!!!!! I was WONDERING how long it’d be before she wears this outfit again!!
Soon after, we see her follow Naruto who leaves the village before being stopped by Chocho who wants to find “her real parents”.
Tumblr media
.....Yeah XD
In any case, before Sarada and Chocho can go aware, they notice how Boruto arrived at the village gate to give Naruto a boxed lunch that Hinata made for him but he left. This leads to Sarada wanting to deliver it to Naruto for him while this also leads to a small argument between Boruto wanting Sarada to drop it while Sarada insisted before he eventually gave in, thanks to Shikamaru.
Tumblr media
As Sarada and Chocho finally leave the village we see what looks to be a mini version of the Ten Tails watching the two from afar
Tumblr media
Seriously, you can’t tell me that DOESN’T look like the Ten Tails!
Tumblr media
Following this we jump back to the site of the mysterious boy and the cloaked figure who now have a special interest in Sarada due to being the daughter of Sasuke
Tumblr media
Said daughter is later ambushed by the mysterious man which leads to a brief altercation
Tumblr media
The two are quickly overwhelmed and it seems all is lost.
Until Lord Hokage saved the day!
Tumblr media
In order to combat the mysterious foe, Naruto powers up into his Nine Tailed Tailed Beast Mode
Tumblr media
Beautiful!
...Although I have to say this looks kind of.....underwhelming when I compare it to the manga
Tumblr media
Just a small nitpick XP
In any case, Naruto easily disposes of the kid and before anything bad happens, the mini ten tails clone teleports the kid away using his own version of Kamui
Tumblr media
Naruto then powers down before quickly deducing the kid was after Sasuke.
Because after all, what’s the series without Sasuke? XD
Okay, I just got the idea for a POTENTIAL future post! I might do a post analyzing the series WITHOUT Sasuke.
I can say the series WON’T have a happy ending. Yes I know A LOT of people hate him but he’s VERY, VERY important to the series.
A series without Sasuke is like Dragon Ball without Vegeta. (I’m ready for the flames for that comment XD)
Sarada then decides to give Naruto the lunch box Hinata made, thus triggering a memory of the bell test when Sakura and Sasuke fed him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naruto then thanks Sarada before deciding to have lunch time with Sarada and Chocho.
Lucky! I WANT lunch time with Naruto!! =(
Okay, sorry for that XD
Getting serious, Sarada is curious about Sasuke and how he was as a kid and Naruto then decides to give them his tale of how Sasuke was in comparison to him.
To start, Sasuke was a playa just like Naruto.
Tumblr media
Okay, technically Naruto is a ladies man with a Tropes Page about him listed under “Clueless Chick Magnet” as well as “Chick Magnet” so that’s not TOTAL BS XD
Here’s the page if anyone’s interested XD
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/CluelessChickMagnet/AnimeAndManga
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That ain’t a lie :3
How many pics do I have of Naruto like that on my hard drive? :3 You all don’t need to know XD
Sasuke was also at the top of his class in ninjutsu like Naruto
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sorry, Nardo. Can’t defend ya here! XD
Tumblr media
Props to Chocho for calling that out XD
The most honest comment from Naruto was how Sasuke was essentially a prick, unlike him.
Tumblr media
SO FRIKKIN TRUE.
But if there’s one thing that will ALWAYS be true is that Sasuke is Naruto’s boyfri-I mean Rival.
Tumblr media
This vid sums up the entire of Shippuden, TBH
youtube
Naruto also then points out how Sarada is essentially the spitting image of Sasuke while she has Sakura’s personality
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The trio then finish their lunch before making their way to where Naruto will rendezvous with Sasuke. While taking breaks of course. On the way there we see how Sarada feels relaxed when she’s around Naruto.
Tumblr media
Then again Karin did say how “bright and warm” Naruto’s chakra was
Tumblr media
After a few more trekking, Naruto, Sarada and Chocho eventually make their way and are in route to a green tower where Naruto will meet Sasuke.
Tumblr media
Sarada then has to “go to the bathroom” which is later revealed to be a plot for her to meet Sasuke for the first time.
We see this desire is so deep and emotional that it awakens the Sharingan in her
Tumblr media
1 Totem Sharingan I should add!
Sarada then makes her way inside the tower where she discovers the Sauce in all his glory!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However....before a tearful daughter-father reunion can take place...
Tumblr media
Sasuke turns his blade on Sarada!!
And that’s the episode.
My thoughts on it?
1.) The animation and soundtrack. I liked the soundtrack used in this episode and I think the one where we see *SPOILER ALERT* Shin was a new one. And the animation was better than episode 167 BUT I still think the scene I mentioned above with Naruto in his chakra mode was kinda underwhelming compared to the manga, haha.
2.) Plot Progression. Considering how we’ve covered FOUR out of the ten chapters for Naruto Gaiden, we’ve made AMAZING plot progression! Especially considering how Sarada has finally come in contact with Sasuke. Although I wouldn’t want to be on the wrong side of Sauce’s sword :O And I’m also shocked SP is really getting through Gaiden at this rate. HECK, we could be done by late August or early September at the rate we’re going!!!
And speaking of Sarada this brings me to my next point:
3.) Sarada’s outfit change. I am SO happy Sarada is wearing her Naruto Gaiden/Boruto Movie outfit! I mean look at it! It looks kickass!!
Tumblr media
However, unlike 75 % of the fandom I don’t hate Sarada’s “next generation” outfit though. I think it’s pretty adorable!!
Tumblr media
As I’ve said countless times on my blog, I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill over her outfit. Especially considering how I’ve seen people call Ikemoto a PEDOPHILE.
SMH.
But something I noticed in this episode concerning Sarada’s outfit, if you noticed, she got the outfit out of a closet in Sakura’s room so is the outfit Sakura’s outfit??
Just something to ponder.
4.) Spoilers! I’ve already read all this in its manga presentation two years ago and for the sake of anime ONLY people, I won’t spoil anything for anyone. ^_^
5.) My review schedule. Okay, so some of you may be wondering why this review came out a day later. Well I’ve gone back to school yesterday and as said in this post:
http://mrs-gossipgirl.tumblr.com/post/164227588887/whats-your-schedule-like-this-year
Mondays and Wednesdays are my busy days along with Fridays to an extent while on Tuesdays and Thursdays I only have one class in the morning so I’ll have these reviews out on THURSDAYS rather than Wednesdays.
Sorry for the inconvenience if it causes any but it’s something that has to be done.
In any case, thanks for reading and enjoying my review and I’ll see you all in NEXT week’s episode!! ^_^

Lady Midnight booktalk
Oh, boy I have no idea where to start and I don't know what to say for the no-spoiler section except that this book was amazing and that you should all go read it. ( You have to read The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Device, and The Shadowhunter Academy before you read Lady Midnight but I think you already knew that and if you have never read any of this I don't know how you can survive they are the best books.) So anyway now I am starting with the spoilers so if you haven't read it yet, read go it and come back to discuss it here with me.
SPOILER ALERT
Ok so this book like any other Cassie book, broke me. I was hysterically crying at one point, I couldn't take it anymore and this moment was when the faerie delegation came and said that Mark has broken the law and he should get 20 lashes for that. The moment they said it I knew Julian was going to take those I just knew that he would step in for his brother and I was like NOOOOO JULIAN MY BABY DON’T DO ANYTHING I KNOW YOU LOVE YOUR BROTHER AND YOU ARE KIND AND EVERYTHING BUT DON’T THAKE THE LASHES I DON’T WANT YOU TO GET HURT. But of course he didn’t listen and I immediately started crying and then when Emma felt his pain oh.... it was so sad and I was so mad at Mark ant Kieran. And when Emma went over to Julian and drew the sleeping rune on him and said “Sleep my love”  I was crying even more and then when Emma took the lashes I was still crying that scene really got to me. Cassie always knows how to make me cry. And then I stopped crying for a while but of course, Emma has to have a dream with her parents where her father plays Jem’s violin and of course, her father has to mention Jem and there you go I was crying again because every time there is something that has to do with Jem I cry. Oh and please how could I forget to mention the scene at the Parabatai party where some Parabatais are holding a speech and Jem’s runs out of the room and Tessa runs after him. Does Cassie want to kill me??? And of course, the end where Jem appears with Tessa to pick up Kit and then Jem talks with Emma, again I was crying. Jem’s makes me cry every time that boy has my heart and my soul forever. Ah, and that I mentioned Kit, first of all I don't like him and second of all I don't like the idea with the lost Herondale, I think I also mentioned this before but it is not like I don't like the Herondales I love them, Will has also stolen my heart and don't get me started on Jace, I love them both so much and this is the reason why I don't want another Herondale in the story, it’s because I love Will and Jace too much and I am very territorial and I want them to be the only Herondales but who knows maybe I will get to like Kit. Alright now back to Julian, I freaking love him I felt in love with him from the first moments and that is why it broke my heart when he got the lashes and when he suffered because Emma got the rest of the lashes and when Emma said those horrible things at the end of the book so that she can protect him. He suffered so much in his life and know he is going to suffer even more. I mean this boy has practically 4 children since he is 12 years old and besides that, he is running a flipping Institute. I know that it is not his uncle’s fault that he is the way he is but I am still mad at him and at Diana, how can you let that poor boy have so many responsibilities can someone please help him??? And what is the matter with Diana anyway why did she come to the Institute if she is not even there most of the time what is she hiding? But back to Julian, it breaks my heart to see him so hurt and I am so scared to see how he is going to react on that whole Mark and Emma thing it will destroy him. (I was crying at that part too when Emma told him she doesn't love him and that she and Mark... oh...). I finished the book last night at 4 a.m please imagine how I felt, I felt like I was going crazy. After I finished the book I had to watch polandbanansbooks video on this book because I love her and her videos and I always watch her book talks. And she said something that really scared me, that I didn't even realize until she said it. She said that Julian risks to go a really dark path because he already has this darkness in him and that everything can go very dark for him after he sees Emma with Mark and everything. And I think she is right I am afraid that Julian is not going to be ok and I don't want that for him because I love him. I am very curious about what is going to happen in Lord of Shadows I can’t wait to start it. And what is going to happen between Julian and Emma how can we break the Parabatai bound, I intuited that Parabatai are not allowed to fall in love with each other because then they are going to be too powerful and I was right and I have now some theories of how the bound is going to break but I just want Julian and Emma to be together they have to find a way to break the bound and be together. AHH and Mark:” Emma why pretend?”, yes Emma why pretend???, I was so mad oh boy and I still am...like how dare you Mark how dare you? I am also afraid Christina is going to be heartbroken when she sees the Mark and Emma thing and I don't want her to be heartbroken ether I like her and I don't want her friendship with Emma to get destroyed by that story because let's be serious she does not love Diego anymore she is in love with Mark and I ship her with Mark and she is not going to react well on the Mark and Emma thing. Have I mentioned that I don't like Kirean, whel I don’t like him and I want him to stay away from Mark and Christina. And I also wanted to say that I love Livvy, I love the way she is and how she loves her twin brother. Ah and Tavvy is so sweet, I love him too. I have just realized that I haven't spoken about Malcolm so let's say I wasn't surprised that he was the murderer (I got spoilered back when I was reading City of Heavenly Fire that he is the murderer) but anyway I found the story very interesting, I mean like how the murderers where committed and this whole mystery, I always love a good murder mystery. And I must say I somehow feel sorry for him because he lost the love of his life and I totally understand why he wants to bring her back but that doesn't justify what he has done and what he did is definitely wrong. And like Christine from polandbananasbooks said he may be still alive, he is a warlock after all. And now that Annabel is alive I think there are two possibilities, one is that she wants revenge and blood because of what her family has done to her or two that she is actually a nice lovely person. But I think the first option is more likely. I am not sure if I said everything I wanted but I think I said everything, oh no wait I forgot to say that I love Emma and that she reminds me of Jace. I love her jokes and the way she is. And I was so excited when I heard that Clary and Jace run now the New York Institute and that Simon and Izzy got engaged ah... that is so lovely even though somewhere in my brain I still picture them as 16 years old and it is a little weird to see them so grown up. And of course omg how could I forget that so, I also read that Cassie is planning to publish two more series one with Tessa’s and Will’s children and the other one with Ty, Dru and the rest, I think the one with Ty it's named The Wicked Powers and I have read that this is going to be her last Shadowhunter series and that in that book the Shadowhunter World is going to change forever. AND I AM AFRAID. What does that mean? Are they all gonna die? I don't want this all to be over, this thought is scaring me so much. What is going to happen??? I AM SCARED!!! And I am afraid I won't be able to read this series because of that, I don't want all to end and change. I also think that I won't be able to read the series with Tessa’s children because it is going to hurt me so much. But until all those books come out I still have to finish this amazing series and as I said I am excited to continue to read because I love it. If you are still reading this endless post, thank you you are amazing!!! Please discuss this book with me, write some comments with your thoughts I can’t wait to see what you are thinking but please no spoiler on Lord of Shadows and Queen of Air and Darkness.

Kevin Cage of @spotlightsaga reviews... GLOW (S01E09) The Liberal Chokehold Airdate: June 23, 2017 Ratings: @Netflix Original // Privatized Ratings Score: 7.5/10 // GIVEAWAY CONTEST WITHIN!!! TVTime/FB/Twitter/Tumblr/Path/Pin: @SpotlightSaga **********SPOILERS BELOW********** 'GLOW just released two of the best episodes of 2017 w/E7 'Live Studio Audience' and E8 'Maybe Its All the Disco', and by no means was 'The Liberal Chokehold' anything but a great episode, but it didn't quite achieve the greatness that the two that preceded it did. Bash (Chris Lowell) finally returns for his & Sam's big pitch to the Network Executives. Apparently he'd been on a big bender for 2-Weeks, explaining his sudden absence. Not surprising considering his sudden money issues that he's really only shared with Carmen during her freakout at their first show. Bash is a good guy, he really wants to realize this dream, not just for him but for everyone involved. At this point he's let people down and he's feeling the pressure... But his rich, trust fund life, and card carrying privilege coming to a sudden halt, led to the one thing he knows how to do best... Self destruction. Arriving at the meeting late, sweaty, and tweaked out of his mind... He sure as hell fits the part. Talk about a mess, this guy looked like me after a bender at on tweak at the age of 19... Not exactly picture ready, if you know what I mean. When Sam Sylvia (Marc Marlon) is embarrassed and shocked at your mess, you're beyond a simple jittery 2-Day, drug spree. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I hammer this quote home like a fn' Anti-Anti NA Slogan, a 'Harm Reduction' specialists mantra to live by, 'If you're going to be a mess, at least be an organized mess. And if you can't do that, then don't be a mess at all.' All out, bender babies like Bash are always the ones that almost achieve something great and then flush it down the toilet at the last second. Luckily for Bash (and Sam too), he has some of the most determined women to stand by his side. These women have worked hard to get where they are and they will be damned if 9 Grand & a comes out rich bitch is what takes it all away from them. They hold a car wash, but that's a bust. $287 is a long way from a near 10k goal. Bash's Mom, Birdie (Elizabeth Perkins) is the shining bitch of the episode. With all the love and camaraderie brewing & bubbling within the ranks of the women of GLOW, it was definitely time to introduce a villain of sorts. Then again, Birdie really isn't a villain in the truest sense of the word... She's more like a bitchy, Reagan-worshiping, LA socialite, who's stuck in the past with a stick up her ass. However, she's got money and she's got friends... And she's throwing one helluva fundraising soirée. Hell or high water, Bash and the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are going to find a way to take advantage of Birdies high end, West Coast, check book challenge! Creators Liz Flahive & Carly Mensch take over the writers room and create some excellent comedy through Birdie's hilariously transparent 'mission' to end the 'crack epidemic' amongst the 'poor, unfortunate minorities' (as if no one else was affected)... And Lynn Shelton, one of my favorite tv directors as of late (popping up heavily on shows like Netflix's 'Love', NBC's 'The Good Place', & Hulu's 'Casual') makes sure the episode flows into a cascade of crazy. Bash sneaks in all the GLOW Girls to the Gala by convincing the door man (who he clearly knows very well & vice versa), that the women are part of a fictional group called 'W.A.D.' (Wrestlers Against Drugs - specifically Crack, you know, to fit the theme). He has each of them take center stage, talking about their completely fabricated experiences with Crack-Cocaine & how the worlds greatest Sports Entertainment acronym & pro-wrestling saved their lives, before introducing his increasingly impatient mother, Birdie. All the women give it a great go, but it's Jenny aka Fortune Cookie (Ellen Wong) who delivers her entire speech in the rare language of 'Khmer', except for the word 'Crack', that's used at just the right times to ring the great vibrating gong of comedy. For a good juxtaposition, Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie) goes last and delivers a speech straight from the heart. She's really talking about her recent transgressions with Debbie (Betty Gilpin) and Debbie's husband, Mark (Rich Sommer). Clearly it's something she's been needing to get off her chest. And even though she replaces key words with 'Crack', Debbie hears the message loud and clear and the speech kills at Birdie's Right-Wing, Reagan-inspired, Anti-Crack Rally. The whole thing has Liz Flahive's fingerprints all over it, and that's a good thing. It's signature feel may not take 'GLOW' to the great heights the previous episode did, but it really assists in defining the show... Cementing its core identity as a tv series. Bash's takeover is successful, but Birdie isn't having it. She takes back all the checks that the crew earned for W.A.D, but gives Bash a much better gift... A venue... 'Annnd you can't beat that!' Btw, WWE fans, I've been using that quote for several GLOW reviews and no one has caught it yet. I'm shocked really. Take out 'beat' and replace it with 'teach'... And what's that spell... S...A...W...F...T... SAAAAAAWWWWWFT! Meh, fahget about it. Though, for the first person who gives us the correct answer on TVTime in the comments section and then likes our Facebook page @SpotlightSaga, giving us the correct answer as to where that quote comes from *on both pages* (so I know you're listening), I'll send you a lil' something, something in the mail. Facebook fans, same goes for you, if you beat TVTime'rs and post the correct answer on @SpotlightSaga's FB page in the comment section on this article, then join TVTime and give us the correct answer in the comment section for this episode via @SpotlightSaga on TVTime.com ... Then you get the goods! Consider it our first Spotlight Saga giveaway, and yes it will be wrestling related! Before we get all 'giveaway happy', which I'm totally excited and eager to do, we've got one massive story arc that blindsided a whole lot of Glow Netflix fans. Spoiler Alert, though we should be far past those by now... As these are simply companion pieces. Justine (Britt Baron) is not in love or infatuated with Sam, despite what Sam's inflated ego led him, and tricked most of us, into believing! Justine walked in on Sam's 'One-Man Pity Party' and decided it was time to drop the truth bomb. Justine is Sam's daughter and now suddenly all the 'jealousy' and 'weird obsessions' with Justine attempting to get close to Sam make total sense. Not only is Sam terribly embarrassed over what just went down with Justine, but he's also under the impression that GLOW was all for nothing, and his film 'Mothers and Lovers' was already made... A PG version called 'Back to the Future', and double spoiler alert for Sam; there's 2 sequels, making three total films & a cartoon series in the same vein of what he thought was an original idea! Well, it either wasn't original or someone jacked his time traveling brainchild, and took out all the John Waters inspired smut. And really, that's totally possible considering he'd been trying to make the film for an entire decade. Gotta be careful throwing around ideas in Hollywood! But that's not the real problem is it? You got a heartbroken daughter and a deadbeat dad. Well isn't that just the story of all of our lives?

Split Review
SPOILERS
At first I thought it was just gonna be a shitty damaging look on mental illness but then a read the spoilers and was like oh okay its just stupid instead. So the movie starts out with some teens at a mall fro a bday party and one of them is a social outcast who got a pity invite. She was also in The Witch where she had blonde hair and a weird name. No one comes to giver her a ride home from the party so the pity inviters dad is like no worries girl i got this we’ll take you home. Thats when shit goes down. So the hot half goat guy from Narnia plays someone with dissociative identity disorder. He has like 23 personalities and they are all annoying. On of his alters (a buff man with OCD) chloroforms the nice dad and none of the girls notice that struggle except for the fucking loser and she does nothing! When hot goat guy gets in the car the girls are likje uhhh get out who are you so he chloroforms them too. The loser whose name I don’t remember totally has time to get out and run but she doesn’t. So this dude takes them to his underground shelter which SPOILER alert is under the Philly zoo. So far his alters don’t want to hurt the girls cause they’re saving them for something worse. Some shit happens that I don’t remember buuuut when the girls are asleep they are awakened byt one of his alters who is a little boy named Hedwig. This is the perfect chance to overpower him but the fucking loser girl tries to get on his level. I hated her for the entire movie. They could’ve used the glass cup from the bathroom to stab this motherfucker in the neck but instead she fucking chats with this weird bald man child. The girls do find a way to escape but buff OCD guy stops them and separates them. TBH idk in what order events take place but the hot goat guys psych is receiving a ton of emergency emails from one of his alters and is like whats up Brian everything good? and he’s like yeah girl lemme show you some clothing designs i been working on. At no point does this old lady go to the police even though she believes one of his bad alters is pretending to be Brian (which may or may not have been his name). Motherfucker has 2 alters that are evil and she doesn’t do shit! I blame everything that happens next on her but also loser girl cause you don’t try to relate to someone who is not mentally competent/a goddam child!!!!!  So the 2 bad alters: buff ocd and british lady have kidnapped these girls to feed to The Beast, whose The Beast? Some other fucked personality that we don’t know about yet. Buff OCD goes to the train station and legit just transforms into a slimmer less green hulk. He can’t be stopped by bullets he’s like Michael Myers but more fuckable. Blah blah blah. The Beast fucking eats 2 of the girls and the loser gets out of the room she’s trapped in and finds a fucking gun to shoot the beast uhhhhhhhhh, Oh yeah he’s super into “broken” people and she does actually have a really sad crappy backstory where she ends up having to live with her rapist uncle. To deal with that trauma she self harms, The Beast sees her scars and is like ohhh okay you’re one of us see ya later and he walks away and she doesn’t fucking blast his head off. I forgot to mention that her father taught her to hunt as a toddler because apparently thats acceptable. Anyway the movie fucking ends when some other zoo worker finds her and calls the cops and is like yo this girl was locked in a cage. and the cops show up and are like hey your uncles here to pick you up. The loser girl gets a look on her face that to me said “i’m gonna kill that fat piece of shit in his sleep later tonight” and I was like yes bitch do something fucking useful for once. Also The Beast just escapes and I guess is going to eat more teen girls?? Then Bruce Willis shows up because this is somehow a tie in to Unbreakable
I have so many problems with this movie, one being when these girls were kidnapped the OCD Buff personality stole nice dads car.....was the car ever found? cause if it was found near the fucking zoo then those kids probs wouldn’t have died. ALSO loser girl got hold of a walkie talkie and manages to talk to another zoo worker who brushes her off EVEN THOUGH HER GODDAM NAME HAS BEEN IN THE NEWS AS A MISSING PERSON, so maybe he should get eaten next

Cartoon All Stars to the Rescue
DRUGS ARE BAD MMMK!
Now I remember a time when every kids hero in the late 80's and early 90's was telling them not to do drugs. I from time to time will watch these and laugh, they are corny for the most part, but because they really don't educate you about why pot is bad. They tell you that pot can ruin your life, you'll lose your family, you won't do good in school etc. But for me personally, pot isn't the worse drug on the planet, not by a long shot. Yet people fear it could lead to other drugs. Though I personally never had the need to do hardcore drugs because I've seen it in my life to know better, people have this fear that pot is the gateway drug. While some studies believe this isn't the case, others have seen this happen. Me, I'll just drink wine (the drink that can cause liver damage, totally legal!)
I know I'm suppose to be reviewing something here. I just wanted to make a point of how anti-pot messages were ingrained in us ever since we were a kid. Yet the message I feel as we have grown really isn't as well thought out or as clear as it could of been. There are a ton of drugs out there, yet we don't know what to do if we see a drug. We need a team of cartoons from my childhood and Alf in drawing form to teach children about the evil of pot! You know what for fun let's just throw former president George H.W Bush and first lady Barbara in the mix (because kids love old people talking about their favorite cartoon characters, trying to be hip). With that we have the classic fail of the anti drug message, Cartoon All Stars To The Rescue. I remember the first time hearing about this I seriously thought it was fake. I never heard of this before, all of my favorite cartoons from my childhood getting to together in one epic special. Damn this is every kids dream. Then you start the movie and oh boy it's not a special I wanted at all.
It starts with a message from the Bush's basically giving a spoiler as to what you're about to see (geez George way to ruin the show). You know it's a bad sign when an old man is telling you that you're favorite cartoons are about to give you a life lesson. The cartoon starts with the Smurfing Smurfs. I'm not going to lie I'm not a big Smurfs fan, so who cares about Papa Smurfs smurfing up coke . Papa Smurf notices a little girl's( Corey) piggy bank and alerts all the town. Then a picture frame of Alf (who the fuck has a picture of Alf framed is beyond me) comes to life and tells a lamp of Garfield to help or he'll eat him (Oh the eating oh domestic house pets such a child memory). Soon  Alvin and the Chipmunks,  Winnie The Pooh and Muppet Babies Kermit the Frog all wake up Corey to show her that her piggy bank is missing. She finds it in her brother Michael's room who is classic drug addict stereotype, stealing money from her little sister's piggy bank.  This is where I never thought I would hear my favorite cartoon characters say the words, Marijuana and Drugs. I don't want to live in a world where my cartoons have drugs in their universe (though I have a feeling most of the writers of these shows were on drugs when writing this special).
Michael has a sick kick in the form of a smoke (voiced by George C. Scott, which is the most shocking thing about this special) basically being the bad guy getting him to do all these drugs. His character is basically devil on your shoulder saying keep doing drugs, DO IT! Bug Bunny takes him back to the past to show him how he started, which is the basic story of kid asks Michael you want to get high, sure! This was a classic tactic used to how drugs addict start their addiction. Not from a doctor prescribing them pills that they shouldn't be, not seeing their parents do this when they were younger, or dealing with a problem and seeing how the affects made them feel better without truly solving anything. Though yes most people do start smoking pot because they see others do it and they want to be included but is not the only way that drug use starts, and it's sad how they never really address this.
They look into Michael's brain as if it were a fun roller coaster (because everyone hates roller coaster especially  kids) While you can make the argument that they make the ride scary, who hasn't left a ride that was scary saying wow that ride made me look at my life a different way. There isn't a clear message as to what drugs can do to your brain, as far as brain damage or nerve damage. It's just scary clouds and ghost looking figures. Yes dealing with drugs to deal with problems is not good, but you can't just say that by saying you go up like a fun roller coaster, without showing what it can do to your body.
Then the most annoying part of this special, they sing. They sing about saying no to drugs. Yes my favorite slogan just say NO! Instead of giving Michael advice on how to get off drugs like talk to an adult, go to a teacher or seek help from a professional, nope saying no is the magical way to stop drugs from coming. I've been to parties and offered things, I do say no and they don't harass you like they do in most shows or commercials. So I guess it is magically!
The rest of the special shows Micheal his future if he continues to do drugs. Though they aren't specific about what drugs  he would be on in the future, he looks like a zombie (which I'm sure is the disease from the Walking Dead, so there the disease turns him into a walker). This is my problem, drugs work different and the side effects are different. If you're going to generalize all drugs having the same effects, you're dumbing down your message. They just show him looks terrible, you don't see if he possibly becoming homeless, getting a disease from sharing needles, show him losing his family and friends leaving him alone, losing job after job from his addicting, showing him going to jail. There are so many ways to show the real horrors of drug abuse.
The end shows Micheal stopping his sister Corey from using his drugs and he goes to talk to his parents about what he's been doing. And instead of the show ending show a number (it was the early 90's so they didn't have a website yet) they show Executive  Producers Roy Disney! I'm not going to lie this upset me the most. Most shows that had a serious message, they would at the end of the episode show you a number you can call if you need help with that specific problem they dealt with in that episode. Full House did it when they addressed Child Abuse, Disney's Doug (even that shitty of a show) did it when they addressed Eating Disorders. This show which has a lot of children's favorite cartoon character talking about a serious issue and they end it with a stupid song and credits. They do show a number, but not until the end of the credits.
You can see why this show is flawed. I get it the message they were trying to give, but it fell into the so lame and not well researched. I wish they would of showed kids a more serious tone with this. Yes I know cartoons aren't the best way to show this, but you know what is, showing real life people dealing with this. It something you can't take lightly. I mean I see people smoke pot all around me, you think these messages got through to kids back then, hell no. But you know why I don't do drugs, because I try to educate myself on what drugs can really do to you. I watch shows like Invention, read articles on the pain killers effecting communities, hell I even read Facebook posts by people saying how another person that went to my high school died of a drug overdose. This is why messages like these fail, we don't show the reality of what drugs can do to a person. They just say drugs are bad, they ruin your life... ok yes but how? I see anti- cigarette ads that show what smoking does to your body and I see that and I say no way I want that. No matter how gruesome, how horrible, how sad drugs can be, we need to show this to kids.
I'm going to end this blog like this show should of ended by giving a couple of websites you can visit if you or someone you know has a problem. Don't be afraid to help a loved one.
