Exhibition Tour—Tree & Serpent: Early Buddhist Art in India, 200 BCE–400 CE
Join John Guy, Florence and Herbert Irving Curator of the Arts of South and Southeast Asia in The Met’s Department of Asian Art, and Donald S. Lopez, Arthur E. Link Distinguished University Professor of Buddhist and Tibetan Studies, University of Michigan, for a virtual tour of Tree & Serpent: Early Buddhist Art in India, 200 BCE–400 CE. Featuring more than 140 objects dating from 200 BCE to 400 CE, the exhibition presents a series of evocative and interlocking themes to reveal both the pre-Buddhist origins of figurative sculpture in India and the early narrative traditions that were central to this formative moment in early Indian art. With major loans from a dozen lenders across India, as well as from the United Kingdom, Europe, a4thnd the United States, it transports visitors into the world of early Buddhist imagery that gave expression to this new religion as it grew from a core set of ethical teachings into one of the world’s great religions. Objects associated with Indo-Roman exchange reveal India’s place in early global trade. The exhibition showcases objects in various media, including limestone sculptures, gold, silver, bronze, rock crystal, and ivory. Highlights include spectacular sculptures from southern India—newly discovered and never before publicly exhibited masterpieces—that add to the world canon of early Buddhist art. On view: July 21st–November 13th, 2023 Learn more about the exhibition: https://www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/tree-and-serpent The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Bandai did not miss this awesome opportunity as they brought an impressive booth! There were beautiful graphics, awesome photo opportunities and even Mametchi and Kuchipatchi statues! There was a merchandise shop too where you could find some cute merchandise including mini plushies, timers and more. You can see that the products were integrated into the booth too.

Otometober Day 2
I just like participating, okay ;w;
Also, the rambling
Who is your favorite heroine or MC?
I had to go staring at my Steam library for this one. I have a few favorites, but that's because I don't pay well enough attention to MCs when I'm busy staring at pretty boys... hahahahahahaha--
So, um, I kinda enjoyed Mika Anderson from Seduce Me, mostly the "WHAT THE HELL????" bit of "Why are these boys in my house". Big sucker for funny plots like that.
Lucette from Cinderella Phenomenon also deserves a mention because she is just. Everything. She learns, she grows, she develops... everything a character should do in ANYTHING, and I love her. Sometimes I wanna give her a hug instead of whichever boy I'm trying to romance.
And I wouldn't be Gen if I wasn't trying to get everyone to love Zeiva as much as I do. So special mention to Essi from X-Note and Clena from Anicon--Essi isn't afraid to sass the helpful guy who's low-key looking like a stalker, and Clena is just so cute and silly.
TL;DR I like a lot of them. :)

Tantra is the science of transforming ordinary lovers into soul mates. And that is the grandeur of Tantra. It can transform the whole earth; it can transform each couple into soul mates. -Rajneesh
Yab-Yum Talon Abraxas
Yab-Yum (Tibetan meaning "father-mother") is a common symbol in the Buddhist art of India, Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet representing the male deity in sexual union with his female consort. Often the male deity is sitting in lotus position while his consort is sitting in his lap.
The symbolism is associated with Anuttarayoga tantra and, while there are various interpretations of the symbolism in the twilight language, the male figure is usually linked to compassion (karuṇā) and skillful means (upāya-kauśalya), while the female partner to 'insight' (prajñā).
The symbolism of union and sexual polarity is a central teaching Tantric Buddhism, especially in Tibet. The union is realised by the practitioner as a mystical experience within one's own body.
Yab-yum is generally understood to represent the primordial (or mystical) union of wisdom and compassion. In Buddhism the masculine form is active, representing the compassion and skillful means (upaya) that have to be developed in order to reach enlightenment. The feminine form is passive and represents wisdom (prajna), which is also necessary to enlightenment. United, the figures symbolize the union necessary to overcome the veils of Maya, the false duality of object and subject.
Yab-yum may also be represented through the aniconic signification of yantra and mandala. In Tibetan Buddhism, the same ideas are to be found concerning the bell and the dorje, which, like the yab-yum, symbolize the dualism that must be exceeded. The sacred Tantric practice leads to rapid development of mind by using the experience of bliss, non-duality, andecstasy while in communion with one's consort.

“The ideas of Saint John of Damascus and his supporters later permitted us the luxury of the beautiful Madonnas of Raphael, the Pietà of Michelangelo, and countless other works of passion and genius, not to mention the great cathedral façades (which often depicted Christ, the apostles, and the saints) of the High Middle Ages. This favorable view of representational religious art cannot simply be taken for granted as something natural and inevitable; Islam, after all, has never abandoned its insistence on aniconic (non-image) art. Rehabilitating the iconoclast heresy in the sixteenth century, Protestants went on a rampage of smashing statues, altarpieces, stained-glass windows, and other great treasures of Western art. John Calvin, arguably the most significant Protestant thinker of all, favored visually barren settings for his worship services, and even prohibited the use of musical instruments. Nothing could have been further removed from the Catholic Church's respect for the natural world, inspired by the Incarnation, and its belief that human beings, composed of body (matter) and soul, can be aided in their ascent to God with the aid of material things.”
- Thomas E. Woods Jr., Ph.D., “Art, Architecture, and the Church,” How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization
