Note
Don't give in to the drama unnecessarily, don't let them think they've won.
Take a break, clear your mind. Don't let it get to you.
I don't know what to say, tbh. But yeah I guess this is a good reminder for a lot of people. Thank you 💚💚💚

that look on your face - draco malfoy
Tumblr media
Draco Malfoy is the type of person to stay silent in a conversation when he has nothing to say. A neutral look on his face that would make those he wasn’t close to think he hated them. Sometimes that was the case, but most of the times it just meant he had nothing to say. That’s why it was so difficult to hide his feelings for you. Any time you joined in a conversation, laughing along with the group and saying nice things, Draco had a dreamy smile on his face, his eyes trained on the way your lips moved when you spoke and your eyes lit up when you remembered something.
The boys never let him live it down. Whenever Theo, Mattheo and Blaise cause sight of him staring at you with heart eyes, they had to elbow each other to hold in their laughs. Draco would be brought out of his daze, straightening his posture and fixing his face so you wouldn’t realise just how in love he was with you.
Salazar forbid that the four boys were ever alone (which happens quite often since they share a giant dorm), because they are instantly on Draco’s back about his obsession with you. “Draco, mate, you need to remember that Potions is your favourite subject. Focus on the class, not on her face.” Would enunciate Theo, speaking to him like a child while Blaise and Mattheo broke out in laughter “Or her tits!” Riddle would add. Draco would just have to sit there and take the harassment from him friends, his pale face burning red with embarrassment. There was no use for him to try and deny his feelings for you. To his friends, or even you for that matter, because it was just so painfully obvious.
That’s why it was also so easy and drama-free for you guys to become a couple, something that isn’t common in relationships between Slytherins. The two of you had just been sat in Draco’s dorm alone, studying for your upcoming exam, but it didn’t seem as though Draco had his head in the game. “You’re giving me that look again.” Draco’s face flushed in humiliation and he looked down at his textbook, except now you were looking up at him. “What look?” “The look that makes me want to kiss you no matter how many people are around.” You answered instantly. Draco’s eyes were instantly back on you, scanning your face to find a hint of lies on your face. When he decided you weren’t lying, both his hands were cupping your jaw to bring you into a soft yet hungry kiss.
The beginning of your relationship wasn’t the end of Draco’s obsession with you, no, it was just the beginning. Draco refused to move from your side unless he had a lesson. So whether it was breakfast, lunch, dinner, study sessions in the library, conversations in the common room, he was always glued to your side, his hands on your body in some way or another. His arm would usually be around your waist, or he’d have a soft hand on your thigh, but he always had the same look on his face when hearing you talk. A loving look with a soft smile gracing his lips. A look on his face so peaceful that when his mother saw you together for the first time, she pulled you away to tell you never to break her son’s heart.
Not that you were planning to.

:inhales and slams hands on the desk: akechi. palace. pitch.
disclaimer: the setting for this is all about vibes and aesthetics, it kinda got away from me when i started hashing out the plot around it two months ago so now we're here. in hell. (i'll probably have to make a secondary post i made wayyy too many concepts,)
yes i made an ost for this idea, here is a youtube playlist of chill european jazz
AU details under the cut-
Akechi Goro's palace is "Ampitheatrum Doloris”.
KEYWORDS: Akechi Goro, Tokyo Highcourt, Amphitheater
Akechi's psyche is a massive collection of locked doors, puzzles, and contradictions. He wants to be seen but not understood—heard but never known, ect. This makes his palace infiltration a waking nightmare (affectionate).
His palace is made up of five main layers. They each mirror a stage of grief:
1) There is the outer layer of with the appearance of a Venice-esque water canal maze, there is a door that must be opened to reach the entrance to infiltrate the second layer underneath the amphitheater. The puzzle's actually pretty sentimental and revolves around Akechi's interest in literature.
Tumblr media
(This layer is depression, Goro mourns what he lost and the fact that the choices he made for the sake of revenge ultimately led to nowhere. This is reflected in how desolate/meandering the outer layer feels, it is the largest and most time consuming part of the palace for this reason. It takes weeks to finish. AKA, Akira and Morgana have a terrible, no good, very bad month of May.)
2) The Labyrinth under the amphitheater; it is full of shadows for the arena champion to use as fodder for the enjoyment of the masses. ‘Loki’ resides here—this layer’s theme loosely plays on the Minotaur myth.
The only way to escape is through a pulley/elevator mechanism which leads to the surface after shattering the Champion’s chains by force. Loki taunts in Old Norse, but gives Akira (and the party by extension) genuine hints on how to escape.
(This layer is anger, Goro is always angry, about the hand he’s been dealt, the futility of his own actions, and the fact that his life has always been a dead end, written in the stars.)
3) The Audience Stands; full of human cognitions and Akechi’s former clients and fans, despite everything, like Sae, he sees them as ‘people’ and is disgusted by them. Their compliments are shallow and empty, surface level like Goro’s facade. Cognition Sae is delegated to a middle manager-type role, and leads Akira and Co. through puzzles.
Different cognitions from Akechi’s shitshow of a childhood throw riddles based around philosophy and the nature of justice at the party, if the answer is ‘wrong’, there’s a mini-boss fight. Answering everything correctly yields a prize—a key, this process is made difficult by all of Robin’s ‘hints’ (which the Thieves can directly ask for) being lies.
(Bargaining. Goro always thought he could still salvage his revenge despite his enemy being essentially invincible, even now deep down he thinks he can salvage all the effort and sacrifices he put in.)
4) The Stage; Robin Hood appears proper instead of in cameo appearances, this is the lead actor's stage. To earn the right to stand with him, Akira has to have to prove his worth in one-on-one combat while showing the crowd a rousing show. The goal is to use the key obtained in the bargaining layer to unlock the Performer's cuffs.
(Denial, Goro doesn’t believe he needs or deserves saving or a life outside of his revenge, he believes there is no other way forward.)
Hereward and the 'treasure' are in the Imperial box area, which I'll save for part 2 of this I think! The second half of this'll have less focus on the environments and more on general plot and character design.
EDIT: here's part two and part three

Looks better on you
Tumblr media
Mattheo Riddle x Reader
Mattheo lends you his sweater on a cold day without much thinking. But when you keep wearing it, he starts to realize that maybe he doesn’t want it back.
Warnings: none. Pure fluff
A/N: Happy Valentine's Day, my lovelies 💕 A bit cliché, but I wanted to post something short and sweet today.
The wind cut through the Hogwarts courtyard with an unforgiving chill, and you regretted your decision to leave your scarf in the dorm. Hugging your arms to yourself, you tried to focus on the conversation around you, but the cold made it really difficult.
Mattheo leaned casually against the stone railing, hands stuffed into the pockets of his sweater, looking completely unbothered by the weather. You weren’t sure how he managed that — maybe pure arrogance was enough to keep him warm.
He was talking to Theo and Enzo about some ridiculous bet they had going, but you weren’t paying much attention, too busy trying to keep yourself from shivering, but too lazy to go to the dorm and dress something warmer. Apparently, though, Mattheo noticed.
Without a word, he pulled his sweater over his head and, before you could even protest, dropped it onto yours.
You blinked. "What—?"
"You’re freezing. Just wear it," he muttered, shaking out his curls.
The wind was still relentless, and as much as your pride wanted you to decline, the warmth from the fabric was already sinking into your skin. The sweater was warm, soft, and — most notably — it smells like him. Hesitantly, you pulled it over your head, and immediately, you were enveloped in his scent — something woodsy with a hint of smoke, like firewhiskey and late-night trouble.
"Looks better on you anyway," he said before turning back to the conversation, as if he hadn’t just casually sent your heart into overdrive with his sweet gesture and boyish smirk.
The sleeves were too long, swallowing your hands completely, and when you glanced up, Mattheo was watching you with a smirk tugging on his lips.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ * ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ *
It was supposed to be temporary. Just until you got back to your dorm. But somehow, you kept wearing it.
It started that evening when you curled up in the common room with a book, still wrapped in the warmth of Mattheo’s sweater. He didn’t say anything about it, just raised an eyebrow as he passed by, a flicker of something unreadable in his expression.
Then it was the next morning at breakfast. You were too tired to notice, but Mattheo definitely did, his usual smirk faltering slightly when he spotted you across the Great Hall.
And then, in the library, when you absentmindedly pulled the sleeve over your fingers while reading a book with focused expression on your face.
By the third day, it had become a thing.
"You do realize that’s mine, right?" Mattheo finally asked, sliding into the seat beside you in Potions.
You glanced down at yourself, feigning innocence. "Oh, is it? I must’ve forgotten."
He let out a short laugh, shaking his head. "Right. You forgot."
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ * ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ *
It wasn’t until a few nights later, when you were both sitting by the fire in the common room, that he finally said something real about it.
You were curled up on the couch, absentmindedly tracing patterns into the fabric of his sweater. The fire cast a golden glow over everything, making the room feel warmer than it probably was. Mattheo, lounging in the chair beside you, was watching you — not that you noticed at first.
But when you finally looked up, you caught him staring.
"What?" you asked, raising an eyebrow.
He didn’t answer immediately. Just tilted his head slightly, a lazy smirk playing at his lips, but there was something softer in his eyes. Something hesitant.
"Nothing," he said at last, voice quieter than usual. "Just thinking I might never get that sweater back."
Your fingers froze against the fabric. The way he said it — it wasn’t teasing, not really. There was something else there, something unspoken.
You swallowed, suddenly hyper-aware of the weight of his gaze. "Do you… want it back?"
Mattheo studied you for a long moment, then let out a slow exhale, shaking his head slightly with a small smile tugging on his lips.
"No," he admitted. "I think I like it better on you."
And just like that, the warmth in your chest rivaled the fire crackling beside you.

⏦゚♡︎ Best Friends, Right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Short Summary: Mattheo’s been distant for a while. Your best friend now doesn’t even bother speaking to you. Perhaps a party and a little bit of alcohol can change that.
Warnings: 18+ only! drunk sex, begging, unprotected p in v, creampie, Mattheo and reader both are oblivious fucks, make-up sex
A/N: change of scenery—Mattheo Riddle. (Going back to Tom as we speak)
wordcount: 2,4k
Tumblr media
You aren’t entirely fond of the idea of going out tonight. You have never been.
But today, after your exam week had just ended—you couldn’t come up with any more excuses which you were certain your friends knew to be blatant lies.
You have gone through your entire closet. Twice. Even three times. Haven’t found anything fitting. Until—you spot something you were given for your 18th birthday which has since been collecting dust at the very back of the closet. A glittery red mini dress, outrageously short, probably too short for a Slytherin house party.
A deep sigh falls over your lips. You don’t have anything else, not here at Hogwarts at least. So you put it on. As you look at your reflection in the mirror, finishing off by applying mascara and some blush, you hesitate. It most likely wasn’t a good idea to walk around like this.
You aren’t given much of a choice, though, because just a split second later, the door to your dorm falls open, three of your friends—already somewhat tipsy—entering while singing a muggle song picked up last time you snuck out to visit London.
You are immediately dragged out of your bathroom, showered with compliments on your appearance. And when you do try to voice your concerns—they are cut off right away. They insist on you coming along, not giving you much of a choice before they hand you a matching purse to your dress and pull you after them in the direction of the Slytherin common room.
You shiver. It’s quite chilly in the dungeons, so you are somewhat relieved when you finally enter the party, already crowded with people. They ask what drink you want, and initially you tell them you would just take something non-alcoholic, but again they insist you finally “have some fun” after spending days on end in your dorm, always studying and never giving yourself a break.
You really aren’t a person to give into peer pressure, but for some reason today, you agree without much further complaint. They are probably right that you do need some time off. Turn your brain off for the night, just let yourself go.
So when they come back and hand you a pink cocktail, you take your first sip. The alcohol instantly floods your senses. You haven’t drunk in so long.
Rationing it as much as you can, you briefly slip away from your friends at some point, which they, in their state, don’t even seem to notice.
You take a few deep breaths as you lean against the railing of the balcony, staring into the distance of the night sky. Earlier, years ago, you used to sit here with Mattheo when both of you snuck out to meet at your favourite spot. He always made time for you.
You exhale deeply, the cloud of your breath dissolving into the crisp winter air.
Once inseparable, you two now rarely spend time. You’ve been dying to ask why, why he avoids you. Answering in short, clipped sentences, never even looking at you when you initiate a conversation. It’s been tiring. Seeing your childhood best friend change, replacing you with someone else. Replace might be the wrong word for it—because you did love Theo and the others too. Just—less. It wasn’t as special. And up until recently—you had thought he felt the same.
You decide to not let these thoughts impact your mood any further, returning to the party soon after. It’s almost too dark and crowded to spot anyone in particular, your friends long gone from the spot you left them in. It would be quite difficult to find them again, so you decide to make your way through the crowd, into a corner where you’d have a better overview of the situation.
Just having made your way halfway through, your eyes lock onto someone familiar. Too familiar.
Mattheo stands there, calm and collected as always, a glass of firewhiskey in his hand. Theo stands next to him, whispering something in his ear, subtly nodding towards a girl. But Mattheo doesn’t seem to be paying him any attention as his eyes drift elsewhere—to you.
In this moment you wish you could have just evaporated into thin air. You don’t want to see him, not right now, you don’t need another reminder. And as much as you want to move away, keep looking for your friends—you find yourself rooted in place. Your legs are not cooperating with your brain.
He just stares at you for what feels like an eternity, his hot gaze steadily dropping lower, skimming over your exposed cleavage down to the curve of your hips, wandering over your bare thighs before they travel back up. And then that bastard grins. Subtly at that, but just enough for you to see it.
At this point your entire body feels like it’s on fire—and you don’t know why. The way he looks at you shouldn’t matter this much, it shouldn’t make you feel this way. Like he wants you equally as much as you want him. You’ve been thinking that this might be the reason as to why he doesn’t talk to you—he might have caught on. Realised you have somewhere along the way developed feelings for him. Of course he wouldn’t reciprocate.
Only when Theo elbows his side does he avert his attention, eyebrows furrowing as he rubs his ribs, quickly followed by being dragged into the crowd, supposedly to the bar. Or to find a girl to fuck.
They used to do it that way—when you were still close.
To your relief, you don’t see him anymore after this encounter.
And you down one or two more cocktails.
Just in case.
For the—you hope unlikely—event you would see him again. Which turns out to be a good decision after all.
Slightly after 1 am, when the crowd thins out as people start leaving—you sense someone walking up to you from behind.
“You here?” A familiar voice whispers in your ear, and when you turn around, you are met with your once favourite brown eyes. “Thought you didn’t like parties.”
You huff slightly. “I guess I wanted to confirm it once more.”
His eyes wander again, and you instinctively pull at your dress. It really is short.
“You look gorgeous today,” he drawls, and suddenly he is so close you can smell the alcohol in the air. Too fucking close. Your breath catches in your throat as you take in every detail of his oh-so-familiar face, the scar on his nose you have traced your finger over countless times, his beautiful, long eyelashes, his dark, messy curls you used to twirl around your finger as he lay on your lap…
But he is drunk. That’s why he is talking to you. Not because he wants to. Sober Mattheo would have ignored you the entire night, you think to yourself.
“You are drunk, Mattheo.” You point out coolly, and he goes silent for a second as though he were reconsidering ever talking to you in the first place. You fully expect him to leave at that point, but instead, his lips curl into a smirk.
“So? Can I not tell my best friend she is pretty?”
A scoff leaves your lips faster than you’d have liked.
“Best friends usually talk to each other more often than just at parties, Mattheo.”
He nods. “I see. So, let’s talk.”
His hand wraps firmly around your wrist, pulling you after him. Exiting the Slytherin common room. Heading in the direction of his dorm.
Mattheo almost trips over his own feet on the way multiple times, and if it wasn’t for you, he would have earned some bruises from his clumsiness. He is more drunk than you thought he was.
As soon as you enter the dorm, you disappear into his bathroom and reemerge with a glass of water, handing it to him. He looks at you with a raised brow but drinks it nonetheless.
You don’t intend on sitting down. You want this to be over with as quickly as possible. You’d have preferred if he had just told you back at the party. You could have had faster access to alcohol that way.
After a minute of gathering his thoughts, he finally speaks up, getting up from his bed and carefully stalking towards you.
“You know why I’ve been distant? He asks, stopping right in front of you, his eyes locking onto yours. “Because you do something to me. You make me feel something I haven’t quite been able to place.”
He pauses briefly. Studying your facial expressions.
“Until a few hours ago.”
You tilt your head slightly, cocking an eyebrow. “What are you saying?”
“That I am— in love with you. Fucking hell, I love you, alright?” He pinches the bridge of his nose and turns away, striding back towards the bed.
Oh.
Oh.
Fuck, you two are idiots.
“Mattheo.”
He just rambles on. “If you don’t, it’s fine. I expected you wou—“
“Mattheo.”
You quickly follow after him, spinning him around to crash your lips onto his. He doesn’t kiss you back at first—simply because he hadn’t expected it. He expected anything but this.
But when he does—it quickly grows hungry, passionate, his hands finding their way to the back of your head, tangling in your hair as he keeps you in place, keeps you from pulling away. And both of you savour this moment. Fuck, you had missed his touch. Missed him. Missed your Mattheo.
“I love you too,” you confess, drawing in a deep breath as you finally part.
His lips are puffy and red, and although it’s hard to believe—he looks even better like this. Mouth slightly parted, dark curls a mess, eyes darkened with lust.
Lust.
If you weren’t drunk right now, your brain would try to rationalise, stop to think, think about the consequences of what was about to happen—but you aren’t used to alcohol clouding your mind. You can’t rationalise, much less even want to.
So when his hands wander up your back, finding the zipper to your dress—you don’t complain. Fuck, you wanted this.
Mattheo’s quick, tugging the zipper down, leaving your dress to pool at your ankles, sucking a mark into the skin of your neck before he takes a step back, appraising you.
Something flashes in his eyes. Dark, dangerous.
“Best friends, right?” He mutters under his breath, a slight smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He’s quick to rid you of the lace still adorning your curves, your hands in the meanwhile working at his trousers.
“Best friends.” You nod, breathless.
As soon as the fabric drops to the floor, his lips are back on yours, having you walk backwards until you lay on his bed, positioning yourself in the middle of the soft mattress.
He’s hovering over you mere seconds later, carelessly discarding his shirt somewhere on the other side of the bed.
You can’t help but moan softly when his lips trail kisses from your jawline all the way to your clavicle, fingers gently tugging on his brunette curls.
“Are you sure?” Mattheo asks then, meeting your eyes to find any hint of uncertainty.
You nod eagerly. “Yes.”
You barely get the word out before you feel him slip between your folds, gathering your arousal before he aligns himself with your entrance, thick and hot, and all of a sudden you weren’t so sure if you could even take him.
“Been dreaming ‘bout this pussy for too fucking long,” he slurs, and then, with one singular, sharp thrust, he buries himself in your cunt, momentarily knocking the breath from your lungs at the sudden intrusion. He stills for a moment, letting you adjust to the rather painful stretch on your walls as he feels you tense beneath him.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” he growls as you clench around his cock, and then he starts to move, slowly at first, dragging his length out of you before pushing back inside. It’s slow, torturously slow, as though he was scared to hurt you.
Your nails dig into his back, hips bucking to meet his thrusts. “Please, Mattheo, I need you.”
That’s all it takes. He speeds up, angles his thrusts just right, brushing over a particularly sensitive spot inside of you that makes your head spin in pleasure. He groans and whimpers, praises you for how well you are doing for him.
His hips snap against yours like he’s got a point to prove, making up for the time you two had lost. You feel something building in the pit of your lower stomach, a pressure that grows with every thrust, until it’s there, on the verge of exploding.
“Yeah, want to come?” He pants, his breath hot and ragged. “Show me how bad you need to come.”
“God, Mattheo, please. I need to come—“ you whimper, cut off by his lips meeting yours.
“Fuck, sweetheart. Sound so pretty when you beg for me.”
Mattheo seems to know exactly what you need because he reaches between the both of you, rubbing tight circles on your swollen clit, and you moan in response. He’s pushing into you mercilessly, walls clamping down around him, your entire body tensing when your orgasm crashes over you in tidal waves, legs trembling as they are wrapped around him.
“Princess, fuck, can I come inside? Mattheo groans against your neck, thrusts growing ragged. “Please let me come inside.”
You manage a shaky yes for an answer, his hips stuttering against yours as he spills himself deep inside of you, coating your walls with his release.
He collapses on top of you then, breathing heavily.
It takes several minutes for him to regain his composure. He lifts himself off you, cradling you in his arms afterwards and placing a gentle kiss on your forehead.
“I will make it right, darling. Treat you the way you deserve.”
“I know you will,” you whisper, placing a kiss on his exposed chest before you drift off to sleep.

Breaking Boundaries
Mattheo Riddle x Reader
Brother’s Best Friend Trope
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You're Enzo's little sister who he's very protective of. His best friend Mattheo Riddle can't help but be attracted to you.
Warnings: smoking, drinking, curse words, mentions of y/n, frat boy theo lol
all characters aged up.
It was your second to last year attending Hogwarts and Enzo’s final year. The two of you were attached at the hip since you were born; knowing he wouldn’t be there with you at your final year, you were somber. He assured you that you’d be fine and he’d apparate at an owl’s notice if he found out you were in trouble.
“Don’t be gloomy, y/n,” Enzo encouraged. He looked out the door, seated comfortably in front of you. The train had yet to depart. He glanced at you again, noticing your crossed arms, “We’ll spend a lot of time together this year, there’ll be loads to do… I’m excited for the party this weekend.”
You looked at Enzo, feeling a little better. “Enz you know you’re only looking forward to that because you haven’t touched a drink this entire holiday.” He looked at you with a smirk, he knew you were right. He argued that it would help with his tolerance: drink less and still get wasted.
The sliding door opened and Enzo’s friends entered one by one.
“Oi! Is that really you Enzo? Quite a tan you’ve got there!” Theo exclaimed. You noted the tight polo and the cap he wore sideways.
Each of them dropped their luggage to exchange hugs and handshakes. The only one who seemed to notice you was Mattheo.
“Hi y/n… You’re gonna hang with us this time?” he asked as he lifted his luggage and packed it into the overhead bin. Mattheo spent the most time with your brother this summer while everyone else traveled.
Usually, you’d be with your friends who were in the room next to Enzo and his group, but you decided to be with your brother since it was his last train ride to Hogwarts.
You looked at Mattheo and answered, “Yes, just ‘cause it’s Enzo’s final year. Hope you don’t mind.” The banging of luggage filled the silence and the roomette began to smell of various colognes.
Theo cockily butted in the conversation, “Don’t forget it’s also our final year.” as he proudly banged his chest. Everyone was settling in, Enzo moving to sit next to you so you wouldn’t feel awkward.
The train ride back to Hogwarts was nothing short of deafening. Everybody was chatting about their summer holiday and if not about their summer holiday, then quidditch, and if not quidditch then girls, and if not girls, it would be about the parties they planned on throwing. You tuned in to the conversation about the Slytherin Welcome Back Party. You’ve attended them since your third year and have always looked forward to it when school started.
~
Once the train arrived to Hogwarts, your brother and his friends started to pick up their luggage. Their height was an advantage for them to swiftly gather their bags and exit the roomette. The night sky made it difficult to look for your belongings above, but a hand reached out and picked it up for you. Behind you, you saw Mattheo holding your trunk with one hand and his belongings in the other; the veins on his arms paired well with his muscles.
He moved his hand towards you, ushering you to pick up your stuff. Your eyes never left his as he made sure you didn’t drop anything. After all these years of knowing him, why did it take you so long to realize how attractive he is?
You didn’t seem so different than your brother at that moment.
“Er- you’re welcome?” Mattheo broke the silence.
You were grateful for the darkness since it hid the obvious blush on your face. All you could muster up was a rushed ‘thank you’ before speed walking past him and catching up to Enzo.
~
Hours before the party, everyone in Enzo's and your group helped set up. Each person had their own task in preparing for the party: Draco and Blaise getting the drinks, Theo and Mattheo charming a muggle herb ‘marijuana’, and Pansy decorating. The group always left you and Enzo for anything involving transfiguration.
“Geminio.” you incanted, pointing at the few shot glasses that instantly turned to hundreds. Enzo was turning a studying desk into a wet bar while Pansy dimmed the candle lights and enchanted the light bulbs green. Mattheo and Theo sat by one of the tall windows, attempting to pronounce the correct charm for the weed.
While the two of them were goofing off, you couldn’t help but notice how attractive Mattheo was. His sharp jawline and curly hair that framed his intense eyes were like magnets to your eyes. You knew it was wrong to find your brother’s friend attractive. But he was just so captivating.
He caught you staring, then smiled and waved at you. You waved back then quickly turned back around, trying to hide your embarrassment. You could have sworn you also saw him wink at you.
“I finally got this stupid thing to grow,” Mattheo announced. “If anyone wants any just let me know.” he said, holding the pot up like a trophy.
Enzo glanced then went back to turning a coffee table into a pool table, “Save me one mate, I’m just about done.” he replied. The Slytherin common room looked like a club, nothing like the ominous dungeon that everyone knew it as.
Before the party officially started, everyone drank a few shots to pregame.
“So who is going to do all of this work next year?” you asked Enzo, the burning sensation from the liquor affected your voice.
“You and Tori..?” Enzo barely responded while his throat felt ablaze.
“Oh, and Crabbe and Goyle! I’m sure with their low marks on their N.E.W.T.s Dumbledore would want to keep them for another year.” Draco replied dryly. There was an eruption of laughter while the blonde man rolled his eyes.
After, Theo and Blaise went up to the entrance of the common room to start letting people in while Enzo started playing music.
~
As the night progressed, everyone was drinking and their inhibitions were nowhere in sight. You danced with Tori, Daph, and Pansy by the fireplace while the boys were sprawled around the common room. The bass from the music was vibrating through everyone’s chest. The mysterious, hot, ‘Dark Lord’s son’ would keep exchanging glances with you throughout the party.
Your slightly revealing outfit helped you move freely while you moved your hips.
Pansy leaned into your side, "You know, if you two keep going at it, I'm afraid your brother's not gonna like it." She inhaled a puff of smoke, dancing carelessly next to you. The dark-haired girl glanced over your brother, who was unaware of anything.
"Mmm, we're allowed to look right? It's not like it's illegal." you slurred, grinding against Pansy.
~
After a few hours of dancing and drinking, you wanted to check up on your brother. You knew he’d be wasted as he never failed to do so at these parties. He was by the wet bar along with Mattheo and Blaise. Before you could say a word, Enzo proudly slurred, “Am I that drunk or am I seeing double, Carrow?” You looked over to where he was looking, the Carrow twins were there, wearing the same outfit. Flora rolled her eyes while Hestia giggled. “Say, if you want, my dorm is available after this party.” he slurred, his head turning them as they walked past him.
You quickly went in front of him and grabbed his cup, “Enz, you know that the Carrows are twins right? Are you alright?” you asked, while taking a good look at him. His eyelids were lowered and his cheeks were flushed. You pulled out your wand and incanted aguamente into the cup and gave it to him.
“Y/n, I’m fine really, I’m having such a good time.” He hiccuped before drinking the cup full of water. Enzo’s head was spinning and his speech was incredibly slurred. Mattheo moved closer to Enzo, his height towering over you. He laughed at the sight of Enzo and put his arm over his shoulder in a brotherly way. You turned your head in Blaise’s direction and saw him pouring shots of firewhiskey and a dose of an alternate pepperup potion (that Draco liked to call soberup potion).
Blaise announced, “Alright blokes let’s take this next one.” while he handed them their glasses. You mouthed a ‘thank you’ to him before drinking the fiery elixir. He raised his glass in response.
Half an hour passed and Mattheo was as crossed as ever. In comparison, Enzo had sobered up with the help of the potion and some throwing up. You guys decided to regroup with everyone near the fireplace. That’s where Enzo noticed that Mattheo was looking at you more often. He paid no attention to it until he saw him eyeing you up and down.
“Something on your mind?” Enzo asked, trying not to seem overprotective over you. Enzo took a quick look at his sister, who was swaying vivaciously to the rhythm of the music. You paused to take a shot that Pansy lifted with her wand. Your brother knew you were wasted.
“Your sister is fit.”
“I will gouge your eyes out.”
Mattheo stopped drinking from his red solo cup and looked at your brother. He hadn’t realized what he said until he was met with Enzo’s dark, threatening glare. He cleared his throat and laughed at an attempt to smooth the issue. If it was any other guy, Mattheo would not be threatened; his usual way of resolving issues of beating someone up would not work with his friend.
“Allow it Enzo, I’m just joking!” Mattheo said light-heartedly, hiding his fear of what Enzo would do “Besides, I’ve been looking at Tori this whole night.” the curly haired man tried to fixate on the wild, brunette girl but he was so damn distracted by the way your hips were moving.
He blinked, then noticed you weren’t in your usual spot. He looked to his left and Enzo wasn’t there either.
Enzo guided you to the opposite side of the room, far from Mattheo. He didn’t want to ruin your mood by making you stay in your dorm the whole night, so this was the best solution he could come up with. “Enzz, why here? Everyone is over thereee.” you whined, pointing at your girl friends.
“I’ll bring them over here, I just noticed you were a little too close to the fireplace. I don’t want you hurting yourself.” He lied, ushering your friends to move to where you were. You sat on a stool, kicking your feet and giggling.
You were drunk but you weren’t stupid. “Wait I know why you moved me!” your body became hunched as you pointed your finger at him, “It’s because me and Mattheo have been eyeing each other this whole night!” you laughed.
Enzo pulled his head back, with a disgusted look on his face. “Wait, you’ve been looking at him too? Y/n, he’s my mate, that’s rank.” He looked to the fireplace and noticed Mattheo wasn’t there. “Do not move from that stool, got it?” your brother commanded, his arms slightly squeezing your shoulders.
He looked for Mattheo, then went to Theo and Blaise to ask if they’d seen him. They shrugged, not knowing where he’d went. His last resort was their dorm, and he spotted Mattheo on his bed.
“Have you lost the plot? She’s my sister!” Enzo exclaimed, looking at Mattheo. He avoided his gaze, feeling scared and guilty. “You know you have a reputation of sleeping with any girl that glances at you, so why the fuck would I be okay with you looking at her? She's off limits.” he spat.
Mattheo finally lifted his head to look at Enzo, “You’re one to talk Enz. That black book you’ve hid under your bed since year 5? Don’t think you’re innocent.”
“Oh, as if you haven’t written in that book either? Seriously, back off from y/n. Consider yourself lucky that you're getting away with this because I care for y/n and because you're my friend.” Enzo swiftly picks up his wand as he walks out of their dorm, slamming the door as hard as he can. The room shook, slightly scaring Mattheo.
Mattheo put his head in his hands and sighed. He really tried to be subtle, but it was rather unfortunate timing that Enzo caught him in the act.
Meanwhile, y/n trucked her way to the nearest trash bin to empty her guts. Unfortunately, she was so drunk out of her mind that she ended up puking in a pot. Pansy and Daphne rushed to hold her hair up and take care of her.
Theo and Blaise spotted Mattheo outside of their dorm and walked up to him to ask what happened. Mattheo paid no attention to them as he noticed you in your sickly state.
He moved past everybody, not caring if he spilled their drinks, he needed to get to you. "Y/n how much did you drink?" he asked, grabbing the nearest cup to fill it with water.
"Eughh, Mattheo don't even look at me, it's not a pretty sight." you managed to say between gags. You took a break, trying to catch your breath and calm yourself down. Your heart was beating at a rapid pace and there was small chunks of puke in your hair. Your neck was down while your hands found comfort in the cold, stone floor. The sight of you made him sober up.
"Here drink this, where is your brother? Isn't he supposed to take care of you?" he asked, anger searing through his voice. He was worried about you, he could care less if Enzo saw him with you again.
You didn't have the capacity to speak, only nodding and accepting the drink. You swished the water in your mouth and spat in the same pot to clean your mouth. You were taking deep, shaky breaths. The bass from the music playing was ringing in your ears. He ordered your friends to find Enzo while he took care of you.
Mattheo unzipped his hoodie and wrapped it over you to keep you warm. You could barely keep your eyes open. He guided you to a nearby couch, and you slumped over his shoulder. Daphne followed you guys and casted a cleaning charm on you, ridding you of any remnants of throw up.
He was in an uncomfortable position. After his argument with his best friend, he didn't want to further disrespect him. But, he couldn't just leave you like this alone or with your friends who were as drunk as you. He reluctantly put his arm over you, rubbing your back as you fell asleep in his arms.
As time went on, the party slowed down. People from different houses began to move back to their respective common room. Enzo was nowhere to be found. Mattheo was fighting sleep to watch over you but ultimately failed. He rested his head on top of yours and drifted to sleep.
~
The sunlight danced through the Black Lake, making the common room look peaceful. Enzo woke up from a hot flash in his bed. He scanned his dorm thoughtlessly, looking for any more soberup potions. He accounted for his roommates, except for his best friend.
Enzo sluggishly put on his oversized hoodie and sunglasses to find him. He didn’t think he overreacted last night, agreed that he could have done more. But he just wanted to make sure that Mattheo was safe. He exited his dorm and noted the lingering smell of alcohol and smoke. Enzo winced as the sound of his slippers made contact with the sticky floor. He looked around, saw a handful of students fast asleep and some waking up with a hangover.
Enzo walked to the left wing of the dorm and saw two figures passed out on a couch. He could easily recognize Mattheo, but he didn’t know the girl he was with as her hoodie covered her face. Enzo was relieved to find his friend safe and didn’t want to disturb his sleep. But curiosity got the better of him and he removed the girl’s hoodie only to identify you. Your brother was completely vexed. You were off limits and Mattheo knew that.
"It's like you don't listen." Enzo said, waking Mattheo up. You were knocked out. His eyes adjusted to Enzo, his heart sinking immediately. Enzo stood there, arms crossed, shaking his head in disappointment. "What the fuck did I say about leaving her alone?"

☠ author's note ☠
Y'ALL I'M SCREAMING. Look at my boy Jeon being all emotionally constipated and sleepless and GRUMPY! I cannot with him sometimes (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
So I'm really exposing my kinks here, but the whole "let's sleep together but actually sleep" trope is just *chef's kiss* perfect. Insomnia-ridden boy who can only sleep well with you nearby? GIVE IT TO ME INTRAVENOUSLY, THANK YOU.
And J-Hope being all "I'm your friend whether you like it or not, you stubborn asshole" is everything I needed today. Their friendship is so beautifully dysfunctional I want to frame it and hang it on my wall.
Meanwhile, you guys in the comments are like "show us Jeon's POV!" and I'm over here like "fine, take his whole entire trauma-riddled brain, are you happy now?!" The answer is yes, you're all trauma vultures just like me. No shame in our game.
I had so much fun writing the shooting range scene though! That whole "let me adjust your stance" trope where they're basically just looking for an excuse to touch you? ICONIC. I will never get tired of it. Sue me.
And don't even get me started on that dinner scene. Jeon actually eating with another human being and not hating it? CHARACTER GROWTH, PEOPLE!
Sorry for leaving you hanging with the spicy bits but... actually no, I'm not sorry at all. The slow boil to explosion is the best part and I'm savoring every moment of your collective suffering (◕‿◕✿)
See you next chapter, you magnificent disaster enablers!

"Again, Jeon?"
J-Hope's voice hits him as soon as he walks in, but Jungkook can't bring himself to care. His body feels heavy, mind foggy with exhaustion.
The medical ward has become too familiar lately—the sharp smell of antiseptic, the soft hum of medical equipment, the way the afternoon light filters through the blinds.
He grunts in response, already making his way to his usual spot. The stretcher's not comfortable, not really, but it's better than lying awake in his own bed.
"You can't come here every afternoon, you know. I have shit to do and your snoring is not precisely helpful."
Jungkook almost rolls his eyes. He doesn't snore—never has—but arguing takes energy he doesn't have.
"Then put some background music."
"You—"
He doesn't wait for J-Hope to finish, just rolls onto the stretcher, facing the wall. The vinyl covering is cool against his arm, and somehow it's grounding... perhaps in a way he doesn't want to examine too closely.
"Are you for real right now? This is the third day in a row you're taking a nap in my office."
"You said yourself I should nap from time to time." His voice comes out muffled, face half-pressed into the thin pillow.
"Yes, but not in my goddamn office!"
The silence that follows is heavy.
He can picture J-Hope without looking—probably pinching the bridge of his nose, that look of exasperated concern he gets whenever Jeon's being particularly difficult. He hears the medic's chair creak as he leans back.
"Look, Jungkook." The use of his real name makes something in his chest tighten. J-Hope only uses it when he's about to say something Jungkook won't like. "I don't wanna be the one saying this to you, but you need to get your shit together."
"Well I am trying to fall asleep right now." The deflection is weak and they both know it.
"That is not what I mean you dimwit." There's that familiar mix of frustration and worry in J-Hope's voice. "Believe me, I'm glad you're finally trying to get some proper rest. But this—in my office? Just why."
Jungkook quiet, hoping J-Hope will drop it. He doesn't want to think about why he keeps coming here, why his own room feels too empty, too quiet. Why he can't sleep unless he can hear someone else breathing nearby.
(He definitely doesn't want to think about how he slept better in that tent, with y—)
"Jungkook."
Not his real name again.
Something in him snaps.
"Fine. I don't fucking know, okay?" The words come out sharp, defensive. He glares at the wall like it's personally offended him. "I just seem to sleep better in company."
"In company?" He can hear J-Hope's brain working, trying to piece together this new information. "Okay, what—? Elaborate right now."
"No."
The word is final, heavy with all the things he refuses to say.
Like the nightmares that wake him up gasping. Or how silence fucking makes his skin crawl. Or how being alone with his thoughts is becoming unbearable.
About how he hasn't had a decent night's sleep since—
"Whose company, Jungkook? This isn't about little bed-hopping habits, is it?"
It's offensive, the question, really.
But all he does is stare at the wall, trying to ignore how his mind immediately conjures up images of you. Of how he actually slept through the night in that tent.
No nightmares, no cold sweats. Just... sleep.
Four fucking years of insomnia, and the solution was this s̶t̶u̶p̶i̶d̶ simple?
"No, it's not." His fingers curl into a fist against the stretcher, leather creaking under fingers—and the sound grates on his nerves, already frayed from lack of sleep. "I ain't talking about it. Drop it, Hoseok."
Using J-Hope's real name now is a low blow, but Jungkook is too tired to care. He just wants to test his theory—see if sleeping near someone, anyone, will keep the nightmares at bay. He doesn't need J-Hope playing therapist, doesn't need him picking apart why this might be working.
Because that would mean thinking about you, about that night, about how for the first time in years he actually felt—
No.
"I'm your friend, Jungkook. And as a member of the Council of Nine, I have to know if anything... or anyone is becoming a weakness."
Jeon almost laughs.
A weakness? No. This isn't about feelings. This is about finally getting some fucking sleep without having to relive—
He cuts that thought off too. Focuses on the antiseptic smell of the medical ward, the equipment, anything but the memories threatening to surface.
J-Hope's concern is misplaced. This isn't about compromising the gang or breaking rules. It's about finding a solution to a problem that's been haunting him for four years.
So if sleeping near someone help? Fucking fine. He'll take what he can get.
Even if it pisses him off that it took this long to figure it out.
"There is no fucking weakness, you got that?" His eyes feel like lead weights in his skull. "I just need some goddamn sleep. I've gotta be sharp for the mission. That's all you need to know."
He can feel J-Hope's eyes on him, searching for cracks where light would shine through.
There's none.
It's been a long time since there's none.
But the medic knows too much, has seen too much. Was there that night when everything went to shit, when V—
"And after the mission? What then? You keep coming back here for your afternoon siestas or are you gonna be sleeping with that company?"
The implication slices through without sugarcoating. There's another word hovering in the air between them, pressing down on the air like a goddamn vacuum.
Traitor.
It sits there like poison, like the taste of copper in his mouth from that night.
Jeon pushes himself up, muscles tense, anger corroding his veins. His head is pounding from lack of sleep, making everything sharper, harder to control.
"I'll deal with it when it comes. Besides, who the fuck will notice? You gonna bitch about it to the rest of the crew?"
"Watch it, Kook." The use of his nickname is a warning, one that would mean more if he wasn't so fucking tired. "I'm trying to help you, not rat you out. But if you become a liability..."
"I ain't no fucking liability."
He's on his feet now, wrath burning through the exhaustion. His fists clench until he can feel his nails biting into his palms.
The suggestion that he'd risk the gang again, that he'd let himself be compromised like that... He does not appreciate it.
It makes something dark and ugly twist in his chest.
"You think I don't know the stakes? You think I'd let myself become another Sylvia episode?"
"Surely you're more intelligent than that."
The words hit exactly where J-Hope means them to. Because yeah, everyone thought he was intelligent back then too. Look how that turned out.
Jungkook holds J-Hope's gaze, something ugly settling in his chest.
For a moment, he considers telling him about you, about this arrangement that's purely physical—no strings, no complications, just a solution to his sleepless nights.
But the words catch in his throat. Because J-Hope isn't just asking for himself, is he? He's asking for AD too. AD, who still carries Sylvia's ghost like an open wound, who took her death even harder than he did.
Who trusted her, protected her, only to watch her choose Jungkook—and then watch her die for that choice.
The guilt sits like lead in his stomach. He can't do that to AD again. Can't make him watch from the sidelines as another woman gets tangled up with Jungkook, always wondering if history's about to repeat itself.
The weight of Sylvia's death is still a chain around his neck, dragging him down every time he closes his eyes.
So he swallows the truth, lets it burn on its way down. This thing with you—he'll handle it himself. Keep it contained. Control it before it becomes something he can't take back.
His face settles into careful blankness as he meets J-Hope's searching look.
"I fucking am. I don't need your nagging."
It's not even a lie. This isn't like Sylvia. He won't let it be. You're different—safer. You know exactly what this is.
"You sure you don't?" J-Hope's voice rises. "Because from what I recall, you've been a messy piece of shit ever since she's gone."
Something dark and ugly coils in Jeon's chest. "Watch how you sling that shit at me, J-Hope."
"Keeping an eye on it, always. Seems we all gotta tiptoe with our words 'round you, huh? Drop one mention of her, and you're all about throwing punches, no thoughts, just rage. Done you a lick of good, has it?"
"Shut your mouth!"
The words rip out of him before he can stop them, raw and ragged.
Because J-Hope's right, and that's what makes it hurt so much.
Four years, and he still can't hear her name without feeling like he's drowning in it all over again.
"Pull yourself together, Jeon!" J-Hope's voice cracks with frustration. "You've been haunted by those fucking nightmares since she died, and now what? Using someone else's body to quiet them down? Jumping from one disaster straight into another and expecting me to just watch?"
Jungkook's eyes feel like they're burning. "No one's asking for your fucking two cents. Always sticking your nose where it doesn't belong."
He wants J-Hope to hit him, to hate him, to stop looking at him with that mix of concern and disappointment.
So his next words are not something he's proud of. But something he feels he needs to do.
"Why don't you go find a bottle to crawl into?"
It's a low blow, and he knows it. Watches J-Hope's hand shake, sees the muscle jump in his jaw.
"Don't you fucking go there, Jeon." The warning in his voice is clear. "I see what you're doing—spiraling because you're losing control. But I'm not playing that game. I'm not V."
"Right, you're not." Jeon's laugh is hollow, bitter. "At least that bastard's honest about not giving a fuck about anyone but himself."
"Jesus fuck, Jeon. You're not the only one carrying shit, you know that?" J-Hope's laugh is all broken glass. "Is that what you want? Me to knock your teeth in? You think that'll fix whatever's going on in that fucked-up head of yours?"
"Whatever. I don't give a shit."
"Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Maybe one day you'll actually believe it. Pushing everyone away—that's about the only thing you're good at anymore."
"Don't need anyone. Do just fine on my own."
"Really?" J-Hope's voice is sarcasm. "That why you're trying to sleep in my fucking office?"
"Fucking hell, man. Just drop it and let me rest. I'm not digging into your shit, am I? Let me handle mine." His voice comes out raw, desperate, and he hates it.
"You might not see it, but some of us actually give a shit about you, you stubborn asshole." J-Hope's voice softens, and that's worse somehow. "I might share that council seat with you, but I'm also your friend—whether you like it or not. I'm worried, okay? This isn't how you deal with your demons."
Jeon closes his eyes, exhaustion settling into his bones. "Maybe it's exactly how I deal with them."
Maybe he deserves them.
He doesn't say that.
"It's a shit way of dealing with anything, Jungkook." The softness bleeds out of J-Hope's voice, and something in Jeon's chest loosens.
Anger he can handle.
Concern?
That's harder to dodge.
"Fuck, I'm not watching you spiral down that rabbit hole again. You can hate me all you want, but I won't stand here and watch you self-destruct. Not a second time."
"I get it. Like I said—not your cross to bear."
Jungkook can feel J-Hope's eyes on him, cutting through his bullshit like always.
"Fine, Kook. Hoard your secrets. But the moment it fucks with the mission, you're answering to me—and the Council."
Jeon knows that tone. It's not just a threat—it's a lifeline J-Hope's throwing him, begging him to get his shit together before everything falls apart.
The anger sits like acid in his chest, but he swallows it down.
This isn't about him and J-Hope anymore. This is about the mission. About the gang. About not letting his f̶e̶e̶l̶i̶n̶g̶s̶ weakness compromise everything like last time.
"Got it," he mutters, dropping back onto the stretcher and turning to face the wall. The stone is cold against his face, grounding in its indifference.
Behind him, J-Hope's chair scrapes against the floor as he turns back to his work. The sound is harsh, angry.
But it's okay if he's angry. Better that than worried. Better that than watching Jeon like he's a bomb about to go off.
"Fucking Sylvia," J-Hope mutters.
Then, silence drops.
For all his crankiness, J-Hope won't kick him out. Can't, maybe, because under all that anger is the same guy who dragged Jeon's drunk ass home after Sylvia, who patched him up when he picked fights he knew he'd lose.
J-Hope's right to be worried—secrets in Kkangpae have a way of turning lethal. One wrong move, one slip, and everything goes up in flames.
Again.
(But this thing with you isn't like Sylvia. It isn't. He just needs to figure out how to sleep through the night without—)
Jeon closes his eyes, lets the antiseptic smell of the medical ward fill his lungs.
Maybe if he lies here long enough, sleep will finally come.
Maybe this time, he won't dream.

𝚂𝚑𝚘𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚛𝚘𝚘𝚖 𝚒𝚗 𝟻. 𝚃𝚑𝚒𝚛𝚍 𝚏𝚕𝚘𝚘𝚛.
The message glares at you from your phone screen, all business and no explanation. Typical Jeon.
𝙹𝚎𝚘𝚗?
...
𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘯
Great. He's seen it and can't be bothered to reply. Fantastic.
You stare at your phone, trying to will a response into existence. Nothing. Just that stupid "seen" mocking you. It's like talking to a brick wall, except the wall probably has better communication skills.
Jeon and his one-word texts. The man's got a gift for saying absolutely nothing while still managing to ruin your plans. You had a whole evening of doing absolutely nothing planned, and now? Now you're apparently going to the shooting range. Yay!
You toss your phone onto the bed; angry, petty. It bounces once, screen still lit up with Jeon's oh-so-eloquent message. His profile pic is just a blank space. Of course it is. God forbid he show an actual human emotion. Or, you know, a face.
With a sigh that could probably be heard three floors down, you drag yourself to the bathroom. For once, it's empty. Small mercies, right?
You tie your hair back into a ponytail, all business. Can't have stray hairs getting in the way when you're handling firearms. That's a safety hazard or whatever. Plus, you know Jeon would probably lecture you about it.
Mr. Safety-First-Unless-It's-About-Emotions.
The mirror shows you a face that's equal parts annoyed and resigned.
This is your life now—dropping everything because Jeon decided to grace you with a whole six words. Six! He's feeling chatty today.
You stare at your reflection, wondering for the millionth time how you ended up here. Not just in a gang, but at Jeon's beck and call. The man's like a black hole—impossible to ignore, drawing you in whether you like it or not.
(You like it. You hate that you like it.)
Time to go play with guns, apparently. Because nothing says "fun night out" like potential bullet wounds and Jeon's silent judgment.
This better be good, you think. But with Jeon? It's always a toss-up between mind-blowing and mind-numbing.
Guess you'll find out which one it is tonight.
You finish tying your hair back and grab your phone, typing out a quick message to Yunjin. Your fingers hover over the keys for a second because ugh. You were actually looking forward to dinner with her.
𝙲𝚊𝚗'𝚝 𝚖𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚛. 𝙶𝚘𝚝 𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚛𝚘𝚘𝚖. 𝚁𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚌𝚔?
The card reader beeps when you swipe your ID, sound echoing through the empty hallway like some ominous warning bell.
The elevator ride feels like you're being delivered to your doom, each floor passing with total indifference to your impending crisis.
Ding.
Third floor. You step out into a corridor that feels way too quiet. Your sneakers barely make any noise against the floor, which just makes your heartbeat sound louder in your ears.
You reach the shooting range and—because you're not a complete idiot—you don't just barge in. Instead, you peek through the reinforced glass window like some s̶t̶a̶l̶k̶e̶r̶ cautious person.
And fuck.
There he is, in his own little world of violence.
He's wearing his usual dark t-shirt, fabric's stretched across his shoulders in a way that's honestly unfair for every other man. His combat pants are doing that thing where they show off every muscle without being obvious about it, and his boots are planted like he owns the ground he's standing on.
He hasn't spotted you yet. He's too focused on the gun in his hands, handling it with the kind of familiarity that reminds you he does this for a living. The protective gear—ear muffs and glasses—should make him look dorky, but nope. In your brain that simply catalogs as hot.
Each shot he fires is like... well, it's like watching someone who knows what they're doing. Which, you suppose, makes sense.
The recoil doesn't even phase him—his body just absorbs it like it's nothing. Spent casings hit the floor with little metallic pings, and you find yourself weirdly fascinated by the way his fingers adjust on the grip between shots.
(You're definitely not thinking about what else those fingers can do. Absolutely not. That would be unprofessional.)
You watch him reload—movements quick and methodical—like he could do this in his sleep. Probably has, honestly. This is Jeon's comfort zone, after all.
You step inside, and it hits you again how different the air feels in here. Smelling like gunpowder and that underlying tension that always shows up when you're around him.
Jeon doesn't turn around, too focused on whatever target he's destroying. You can't help the little smirk that tugs at your lips because finally—a chance to catch Mr. Perfect off guard. He's so zeroed in on his shooting that he might actually not notice you for once.
(You should know better by now, but hope springs eternal or whatever.)
Your sneakers don't make a sound on the rubber floor as you creep closer. You're already planning it—maybe a sudden clap, or yelling his name. Something to make him jump, even just a little. The thought sends this weird thrill through you, like you're about to get away with something.
You take a deep breath, ready to execute your master plan, when—
"Don't even think about it."
Motherfucker.
He doesn't even turn around. Doesn't move a muscle. Just keeps standing there like some statue of Perfect Shooting Form, and you can hear the smirk in his voice.
It's not fair how he does that—makes you feel like you're being predictable without even looking at you.
"You got radar in your head, or what?" you ask, trying to play it off like you weren't just caught being an absolute child.
Your voice comes out light, playful, which feels kind of wrong in a room designed for practicing how to kill people efficiently. But that's kind of your whole thing with Jeon, isn't it? Finding these little moments of tomfoolery in between all the violence and duty.
Sometimes you wonder if he lets you get away with it because he needs those moments too.
Jeon turns around, and as usual, there's this look in his eyes. Could be the fluorescent lights, could be him being a smug bastard.
He sets down his gun with this final-sounding click that somehow makes the room feel too quiet.
"Let's just say I've got a good sense of when someone's lurking in my blind spot."
The corner of his mouth twitches, and you're starting to think he practices that almost-smirk in the mirror.
You watch as he moves to the gun rack, all fluid movements. He picks out this pristine semi-automatic that gleams under the shitty range lights like it's showing off.
"Come on." His voice drops the playful edge. "If we're going to have your back in the field, you need to be able to hold your own. No hesitation this time."
This time.
The words bring back memories of your first shooting lesson with him—how your hands shook, how the gun felt too heavy with the weight of what it could do. You weren't ready then.
But now, with this mission hanging over your heads like a guillotine, you don't have the luxury of not being ready.
You step forward, closing the gap between you. When he hands you the gun, his fingers brush against yours, and even that tiny contact sends electricity up your arm. The metal's cold against your palm, but you grip it like you mean it. Like you're not thinking about how those same hands felt on your skin just days ago.
"Good." He nods, and something warm unfurls in your chest at his approval. "First, your stance—it's all about balance. Feet shoulder-width apart, one foot slightly ahead of the other."
You follow his instructions, hyper-aware of his eyes on you. It feels like being under a microscope, but like, a really hot microscope that you maybe want to kiss again.
You plant your feet, trying to look like you know what you're doing.
"Now, grip. Not too tight—imagine holding someone's hand. Firm, but you're not trying to crush it."
He moves closer, and suddenly the air feels thicker. His comparison makes your brain short-circuit because now all you can think about is holding hands, which leads to thinking about holding other things, which—yeah, nope.
Can't think about that. Not while you're holding a deadly weapon.
His hands come up to adjust your grip, and it should be clinical. Professional.
But there's this undercurrent of something between you, like static electricity looking for a place to ground itself. Like every little touch is loaded with meaning.
You find your rhythm with the breathing, in and out, as Jeon steps back to give you space. He's watching you with that unreadable expression of his, but his eyes are intense, like he's trying to will you into not fucking this up.
"Align the sights." His voice drops low, and fuck, it shouldn't affect you when he's teaching you how to shoot people. "Focus on the front sight—everything else is just background noise. Breathe in, breathe out, and on the exhale—that's when you squeeze the trigger."
You narrow your eyes, zeroing in on the target downrange.
It's not just a paper outline anymore—it's a test.
Another thing you need to prove you can handle in this life you've chosen.
You let out a slow breath, and with it goes some of that nervous energy that's been making your hands shake.
Right now it's just you, the gun, and this need to show Jeon—and yourself—that you're not out of your depth here. That you belong in this world of his, even if it's just at the edges.
The shot cracks through the air like a whip, and the recoil hits your palms. It's jarring but real, solid proof that you're actually doing this. That you're becoming whatever it is you need to be to survive in Kkangpae.
Jeon gives you this little nod, like yeah, okay, maybe you're not completely hopeless. But then—oh. Then his mouth does this thing, curling up at the corners into what might be the most dangerous smile you've ever seen.
"Good job."
Two. Words.
Just two fucking words, but the way he says them—all low and pleased—makes heat pool in your stomach.
It's not fair how he can do that, turn a simple phrase into something that feels like innuendo, voice wrapping around you like smoke, seeping into places it has no business being.
You're starting to think weapons training with Jeon might be hazardous to your mental health. And not for the obvious reasons.
Because the fucker is not just hot—though fuck, he absolutely is—he's something else entirely.
The way he handles a weapon, the easy confidence, how he makes everything look so effortless? It's doing things to you. Things that have nothing to do with training and everything to do with how his hands looked wrapped around that gun.
"Let's try again. This time, focus on consistency. You want to be able to replicate that shot every time."
He moves behind you, and suddenly breathing becomes severely underrated.
You try to focus on the target, but your brain's too busy cataloging every tiny detail—how his breath stirs the baby hairs at your nape, the way his chest is just shy of brushing against your back.
You take a deep breath to steady yourself, but that's a mistake because now all you can smell is him.
Pine and wood and leather.
Jeon.
The gun feels heavy in your hands as you line up another shot, and your attention is split between the target downrange and the way Jeon's presence seems to fill up all the space around you.
The shot immediately cracks through the air, perfect center mass.
You should feel proud—and you do—but mostly you're trying not to think about how close he is, how easy it would be to lean back just a little...
Because you know he's all business, laser-focused on getting you ready for the mission. Completely professional. But there are these tiny tells—the way his fingers linger when he adjusts your stance, how his eyes sometimes drift from the target to your face, staying just a second too long.
It's driving you insane.
Like there's this invisible line neither of you is willing to cross first, even though you both know exactly where this tension is heading.
You've been there before, after all. That night in his tent wasn't that long ago.
You lower the gun, trying to ignore how your hands are shaking—partly from adrenaline, mostly from something else.
The way Jeon's looking at you right now.
"Just like that. Keep it up."
You manage a nod because words? Not happening. Your throat's too dry, and honestly, you're afraid of what might come out if you open your mouth.
Another shot rings out, and you can't help wondering if Jeon feels it too. This crackling tension that makes your skin feel too tight. Or maybe you're just losing it, getting all hot and bothered over a man who's literally just teaching you how to shoot people.
"Reload. Keep your focus sharp."
He hands you a fresh magazine, and your fingers brush against his again—and honestly?
This isn't fair.
You're supposed to be learning important gang shit here, not mentally cataloging how good his hands feel.
Your brain keeps replaying every tiny touch, every moment his body was pressed against yours while "correcting your stance."
Which, by the way? Totally unnecessary.
You're pretty sure proper shooting form doesn't require his chest being that close to your back.
Focus, you tell yourself. You're here to learn how to handle a weapon, not daydream about handling... other things.
You need to prove you belong here, that you're more than just another recruit who can't keep it in their pants around the hot Chief.
(Even if said Chief is making it really hard to think straight right now.)
You grip the gun tighter, channeling all that frustrated energy into your next shot. The bang echoes through the range, and you pretend it drowns out the voice in your head that keeps suggesting alternative uses for this private training session.
The magazine clicks into place with maybe more force than necessary, but whatever. You're determined to get through this without embarrassing yourself. More shots follow, each one a desperate attempt to focus on anything except how good Jeon looks when he's in instructor mode.
(It's not working, but at least you're hitting the target.)
You're about to take another shot when something catches your eye.
Jeon looks... off.
There are shadows under his eyes that makeup can't hide, and his movements are slower than usual.
Most people wouldn't notice, but you've been trained to spot weaknesses.
"You look like shit."
The words slip out before your brain can filter them. Because you're such a professional, apparently. But now that you've started digging this hole, might as well keep going.
"When's the last time you actually slept?"
Dark eyes snap to yours, and you swear something raw flutters behind his eyelashes. Doesn't last long-as never anything really does with him. The walls come slamming back up.
"I'm fine."
His tone screams drop it; the voice in your head screams 'don't.'
Good thing you've always been good at hearing yourself first.
Besides, this isn't exclusively about him anymore.
You set the gun down, turning to face him fully. "Look, I get it—we all have our shit. But if you're walking around half-dead, that's not just your problem. That's how people end up getting killed."
He gives you a death stare, and you're pretty sure he's about to pull rank and shut this conversation down. But then he exhales, and something in his posture just... gives.
"Insomnia's an old friend." An admission that comes out rough, like he had to force the words past his defenses. "Been dealing with it for years. It doesn't affect my work."
"Bullshit." You shouldn't push, but your mouth's apparently on autopilot today. "You slept fine in the tent—"
His eyes narrow, and okay, maybe that was too far. But you're not wrong. You remember how peaceful he looked that morning, no trace of the tension that's radiating off him now.
"That was different."
His voice drops low, warning you away from this topic.
But there's something else there too—like maybe he's trying to convince himself more than you.
He doesn't deny it though.
So you nod, letting the subject drop. But you tuck that little piece of information away like a secret—Jeon sleeps better when he's not alone. When he's with you, specifically. You're not sure what to do with that knowledge yet, but it feels important somehow.
Silence falls. You turn back to the range because it's easier than trying to decode whatever's happening here.
The gun in your hands is simple, straightforward. Point, shoot, repeat. No complicated feelings or midnight revelations to deal with.
You cycle through the weapons Jeon's laid out, each one different but serving the same purpose. Pistols feel natural now, like they belong in your grip. Shotguns still kick like a mule, but you're getting better at handling them. Each shot echoes through the room, filling the space where words should be.
It becomes almost meditative after a while. Load, aim, breathe, squeeze. The routine helps quiet your mind, pushes away thoughts of Jeon and sleep and whatever's going on in that cold brain of his.
You're here to learn how to stay alive, not psychoanalyze your Chief's sleeping habits.
When you switch to the rifle, you can't help sneaking a look at him. He's lurking in the shadows like some kind of sexy gargoyle, watching your every move. Even exhausted, he's still intimidating as hell.
But there's something different about him now—like seeing him tired makes him more... real. Less Chief of Tactical Assassinations, more just Jeon.
The rifle's recoil brings you back to reality. You line up another shot, remembering everything he's taught you.
Breathe in, hold, squeeze, exhale. The bullets hit close together, forming a tight group that would definitely ruin someone's day. Jeon gives you this tiny nod that shouldn't make your stomach flip, but it does anyway.
The sun's starting to set, painting the room in long shadows. Empty casings litter the floor around your feet like tiny brass confessions. Neither of you has said much, but somehow it's not uncomfortable.
You've learned two things today: how to shoot better, and that Jeon trusts you enough to show you some of his cracks, even if he doesn't mean to.
You're not sure which lesson is more dangerous.
(Probably the second one.)
You start packing up, going through the familiar motions of cleaning and storing the weapons.
"It's getting late," you say, mostly to break the silence.
When you turn around, Jeon's standing there with his arms crossed, staring at nothing. Or maybe at something only he can see. He doesn't react to your voice, like he's been aware of every move you've made since you started cleaning up.
The lighting in here is shit, but it's not bad enough to hide how exhausted he looks. The shadows under his eyes are getting deeper, more obvious. You think about what J-Hope would say if he saw Jeon like this—probably something cranky and concerned wrapped in medical jargon.
"If it helps," you start carefully, like you're approaching a wild animal, "we can sleep together again. No bullshit—just sleep. Seems like you could use it."
For a second, his face goes completely blank. It's that perfect mask he wears when he's processing something he doesn't want to deal with.
Then—there.
His shoulders drop just a fraction, like someone's loosened a wire.
"I don't need charity."
The words come out defensive, but they're missing that sharp edge he usually uses to keep people at a distance. You recognize deflection when you hear it—you work in the Seduction Division, after all.
"It's not charity." You click the last weapon case shut, buying time to choose your next words carefully. "Consider it... part of our arrangement. We're no good to each other tense or half-awake."
The silence stretches out so long you start to wonder if you've fucked up. Maybe you pushed too far, got too personal. But then he nods, just barely, like he's trying to convince himself he's not giving in to anything.
"I'll think about it."
His voice is gruff, but there's something else there—a hint of relief, maybe. Like you've given him permission to want something he thinks he shouldn't. You pretend not to notice how his eyes linger on you as you finish packing up, like he's already made up his mind but isn't ready to admit it yet.
You glance at the clock, and shit—it's really fucking late. The castle gets quiet around this time, most people already finished with dinner or working night shifts.
Speaking of dinner... you were supposed to meet Yunjin, but someone had to drag you to impromptu target practice.
A thought hits you, and you can't help the little smile that tugs at your lips. It's probably stupid, definitely pushing your luck, but...
"By the way," you say, closing the weapons case with a satisfying click. "Since it's already so late... How about grabbing some dinner together at the cafeteria?"
Jeon looks at you like you've just suggested robbing a bank in your underwear.
There's this tiny flicker of surprise in his eyes that would be funny if it wasn't kind of sad. Like the concept of eating with someone is completely foreign to him.
"Dinner? I eat alone."
His voice is flat, but it's as though he's actually considering it, even if he'd rather die than admit it.
"I know, but it's late." You shrug, going for casual even though your heart's doing this weird skippy thing. "Few people will be there, and I had plans that got... rearranged."
You give him a pointed look because hey, this is technically his fault.
"Don't feel like eating by myself."
He stares at you for what feels like forever, face doing that blank thing he does when he's processing something unexpected. Then his mouth quirks up at the corner.
"I don't usually do dinner dates."
You actually laugh at that. "You wish.Think of it as a tactical debriefing over food. Can't strategize on an empty stomach, can we?"
His smirk gets a fraction wider—the Jeon equivalent of a full grin. It's rare to see him look actually amused, and something warm unfurls in your chest at being the cause.
"Tactical debriefing, huh? That's a new one."
"Come on, Jeon. It's just dinner." You try to sound nonchalant, like you're not weirdly invested in his answer. "Besides, you're probably starving after all that shooting."
He does that thing where he goes all still, like he's running risk assessments in his head.
Finally, he nods. "Alright, but this isn't a habit we're starting."
"Of course not, you have a reputation to maintain, thundercloud."
You can't help the smirk as you head for the door. The nickname slips out before you can catch it, but whatever. You're already in deep.
"Not like anybody would believe you anyway, sunshine." He rolls his eyes, but follows you out.
The way he says sunshine—like it's both an insult and something else—makes your stomach do a little flip. But you're not going to think about that.
This is just dinner. Just two gang members having a totally normal, professional meal together.
Tumblr media
The walk to the cafeteria is weirdly peaceful.
Neither of you says anything, but it's not that awkward silence that makes you want to crawl out of your skin.
It's just... quiet. Your brain's still processing everything—the training, the arrangement, the fact that you're actually going to dinner with Jeon of all people.
The cafeteria's practically empty when you walk in. Just a few night owls scattered around, most of them looking like they're running on coffee and spite.
It's nice, though. No curious eyes, no whispers. Just the soft hum of the air conditioning and the distant clink of dishes.
The buffet spread looks like heaven. Your stomach reminds you that you haven't eaten since lunch, growling at the sight of steaming bulgogi and kimchi jjigae. The castle chefs don't mess around—everything looks magazine-worthy, even at this hour.
You load up your tray like you're preparing for hibernation: bulgogi because duh, japchae because the noodles here are actually insane, kimchi fried rice because comfort food is a thing, and those spicy braised potatoes that make your mouth water just looking at them.
Jeon, for his part, goes straight for the protein—galbi ribs, bibimbap loaded with meat, and bossam like he's got something to prove.
You're about to head for a table when you catch him adding even more bulgogi to his already meat-heavy tray.
"Got enough protein there?" You can't help the teasing tone. "Or are you planning to feed a small army?"
Jeon's mouth does that thing where he's trying not to smile but failing.
"I need to keep up my strength." His eyes flick to yours, dark. "Never know when I might need to pin a smartass against a wall."
The laugh that escapes you is only partly nervous. You lead the way to a corner table, far from the few other diners. It feels weirdly intimate, having dinner with someone who usually eats alone.
The food works its magic. You feel the day's tension melting away with each bite, and even Jeon looks more relaxed. That permanent frown he carries around is smoothing out as he tackles his galbi like it's his division's target.
"Holy shit, this is good," you mumble around a mouthful of noodles.
The chefs here could probably work in any five-star restaurant, but instead they're cooking for a bunch of criminals. Life's weird like that.
Jeon makes this little grunt of agreement, cheeks full like a hamster's. He swallows before speaking because apparently assassins have table manners.
"Only decent perk of this place."
You fall into comfortable silence after that, both focused on demolishing your food.
It's strange how normal this feels—just two people sharing dinner, like you don't kill people for a living, like you haven't had your hands all over each other hours ago.
"That rifle technique you used today was solid. Got good instincts."
Coming from Jeon, that's practically a love letter. You hide your smile behind another bite of food, but can't resist poking the bear.
"Well, I have a good teacher. Even if his people skills need work."
He snorts, stabbing another piece of meat with maybe more force than necessary.
"I don't coddle. You get better by doing, not talking."
"True, but positive reinforcement helps too." You gesture with your chopsticks. "I'm only human, thundercloud."
The look he gives you could melt steel. One eyebrow goes up, and there's something dangerous playing at the corners of his mouth.
"Hmmm. Almost sounds like you want to be coddled, sunshine."
The way he says it makes heat pool in your stomach. Because that wasn't about teaching at all, was it?
You laugh to cover the way your breath catches. "In your dreams, Jeon."
You ball up your napkin and throw it at him, which he catches without even looking because of coursehe does.
Show-off.
"Still," he says, ruining the moment like he's allergic to peace, "your reaction time needs work."
"I'll keep practicing." You shrug, aiming for casual. "Can't have you worrying about me in the field."
"Who said anything about worrying?" But his eyes give him away—that split-second flicker before his face goes blank again.
"Oh please." You wave your chopsticks at him. "You were watching me like a hawk in there. Probably counting my breaths or something equally anal-retentive."
He just shakes his head, suddenly very interested in his food. But you're on a roll now, feeling brave or stupid or both.
"Admit it, you care about my progress." You lean forward, grinning. "It's almost sweet."
Jeon looks up then, and oh. His gaze is intense.
"I care about not getting shot because you can't handle your weapon, sunshine."
You can't help yourself. Really, you can't. "Mhm? Thought I was getting better at handling weapons, thundercloud."
His lips twitch, just barely, but you catch it. It's fascinating, really, how you've somehow stumbled into this easy back-and-forth with him. How beneath all his sharp edges and your sass, there's this... thing.
This rhythm that shouldn't work but does.
Dinner's winding down, and you notice something different about Jeon. The tension he usually carries—the one that makes him look like he's ready to snap someone's neck at any moment—has eased up. Even his face looks softer, less murder-y than usual.
"This was... not terrible," he says, like admitting it physically pains him. His eyes meet yours across the table. "The food, the company... both exceeded my low expectations."
"Oh my god." You press a hand to your chest, going for maximum drama. "Was that a compliment? Should I call J-Hope? Are you feeling okay?"
He snorts, and there's this little uptick at the corner of his mouth that you're starting to recognize as his version of a smile.
"Yeah, yeah. Don't get used to it."
"Too late." You stand up, gathering your plates. "I expect this level of praise at every meal now. Maybe we can work up to actual sentences by next week."
"Don't push your luck, sunshine." But he's still got that almost-smile as he gets up too.
"I mean, you already admitted you don't hate my company. That's practically a love confession by your standards."
Jeon shakes his head, but there's something soft in his eyes.
"You're really something else, you know that?"
"So I've been told."
You drop off your dishes, and both head for the elevator, falling into comfortable silence.
You reach for the elevator buttons, aiming for the fourth floor where your room is. But Jeon's arm suddenly appears in your peripheral vision, his chest almost brushing your back as he leans forward. There's this tiny pause—blink and you'd miss it—before he hits the button for the fifth floor instead.
You turn your head just enough to catch his eye, raising an eyebrow. No words needed.
You both know what this is: him taking you up on that offer to help him sleep. Simple as that. Like picking up takeout or scheduling target practice.
The elevator starts moving, and holy shit why is it so slow? The silence should be awkward, but it's not.
Maybe because you both know exactly what this is. No bullshit, no complications. Just sleep. Like you said in the training room—you're no good to each other half-dead from exhaustion.
It's probably stupid, spending the night with your Chief. But you've already crossed that line in his tent, and honestly? If sleeping next to you helps with his insomnia, then whatever.
You're already fuck buddies—might as well be helpful ones.
The doors finally open to the fifth floor, and Jeon steps back. He's giving you space, making it clear this is your call. Which is... weirdly considerate, actually. You step out because why not? This isn't some dramatic decision. It's practical. Logical, even.
The walk to his room feels longer than it should. Your feet are dragging because yeah, you're fucking tired. Today's been a whole thing—training, dinner, and now this weird arrangement that somehow makes perfect sense.
Jeon stops at his door, giving you one last look. Checking if you're sure, probably. You nod because duh. This isn't complicated. You're both adults who sometimes fuck and apparently now sometimes sleep (just sleep) together.
The door clicks shut behind you, and you get your first look at Jeon's private space.
So this is where the Chief of Tactical Assassinations sleeps. You can't help but snoop—it's basically in your job description as a member of Seduction Division.
The room is... exactly what you'd expect from Jeon, honestly. It's like someone took his personality and turned it into interior design.
Everything's black, white, or gray, like he's allergic to color. It matches his whole aesthetic—the guy who sees the world in shades of gray, making calls about who lives and who dies. Maybe the monochrome thing is some kind of metaphor. Or maybe he just really likes black.
There's this massive king-sized bed against one wall, all black sheets and dark gray duvet. The bed's made diligently, but you can see the slight wrinkles that mean he's actually slept in it. Unlike some people who just have fancy beds for show.
Next to it is this super minimal nightstand with just a lamp and—oh. An ashtray. Right. His stress-smoking habit.
The furniture could be from one of those fancy minimalist catalogs. Everything's black wood, clean lines, no fuss. There's a dresser that probably holds his endless supply of black t-shirts, a desk that looks barely used, and a chair that seems more decorative than functional.
What really gets you is how empty it is. No photos, no personal stuff, nothing that says "someone actually lives here."
It's like a really expensive prison cell or one of those model rooms in furniture stores.
You spot a door that has to lead to a private bathroom, and fuck, that's not fair. You're sharing a bathroom with like five other girls while Mr. Chief here gets his own shower? The perks of rank, you guess.
The floor's spotless—like, you could probably eat off it. Not a speck of dust anywhere. The whole place is as buttoned-up as Jeon himself, like maybe if he keeps everything perfectly ordered, the rest of his life will fall into line too.
"Well, it's very... you," you say, because what else can you say about a room that looks like it was decorated by a very organized ghost?
"I don't need anything else." He shrugs.
You hover by the bathroom door, suddenly feeling weirdly out of place. Being in Jeon's private space is... different. Not bad different, just different. Like seeing your teacher at the grocery store, except your teacher is a hot assassin you occasionally fuck.
"Hey," you start, trying to sound casual, "mind if I grab a quick shower first? I always wash up before bed, especially after training." You scrunch your nose. "Pretty sure I don't smell like a spring meadow right now."
Jeon's eyebrow does that thing—that infuriating arch that makes you want to either kiss him or kick him.
"What, you saying I stink, sunshine?"
"We both worked up a sweat today, cloud." You roll your eyes, but you're fighting a smile. "No judgment, just stating facts."
He jerks his head toward the bathroom door. "Go ahead. Towels and shit are in there."
You can't help yourself—really, you can't. As you pass him, you throw out: "Maybe take a page from my book and grab one yourself after. You know, freshen up a bit."
The snort he lets out is almost a laugh. "Watch yourself. I don't take orders in my own quarters."
But his eyes are doing that thing where they get all dark and playful, and you know that look.
Intimately.
"Just a suggestion between... friends."
You draw out the last word, letting it hang there like bait. Because that's what you are now, right? Friends who sometimes sleep together. And sometimes fuck. But tonight's just for sleeping.
(Sure it is.)
"So pushy." His smirk should be illegal. "What, you wanna shower together now? Could've just asked, sunshine."
You roll your eyes because it's easier than admitting how tempting that sounds. "You wish, thundercloud. I can handle washing myself just fine."
You head for the bathroom, but pause at the door because apparently, you hate yourself.
Glancing back over your shoulder, you add: "But you know... my back is kind of hard to reach..."
"Nice try." His voice has dropped lower, rougher. "But we said only sleeping tonight. Go get cleaned up. I'll be here when you're done."
The way he says it—like a promise and a threat wrapped in one—makes you seriously reconsider this whole "just sleeping" thing.
The bathroom is exactly what you expected—black and white everything, minimalist as fuck. It's like the room outside but with more tiles and chrome.
You turn the shower on hot enough to steam up the mirrors and step under the spray, letting it pound against your shoulders.
The water pressure is amazing. Of course it is—Chief privileges and all that. Your shared bathroom on the fourth floor can barely manage a decent drizzle, but this? This is heaven.
You take your sweet time, enjoying the luxury of a private shower where no one's going to bang on the door telling you to hurry up.
When you finally emerge, wrapped in one of Jeon's obscenely fluffy black towels (seriously, where does he get these?), steam billows out behind you like you're making some dramatic entrance. Your hair's twisted up in another towel, water still dripping down your neck.
You feel Jeon's eyes on you before you see him. He's sitting on the edge of the bed, and the weight of his stare makes your skin prickle.
His face is doing that careful blank thing, but his eyes? They're giving him away.
"Shower's free," you say, aiming for casual even though the tension in the room is thick enough to choke on. "You know, if you want it."
He just makes this low humming sound that absolutely does not make heat pool in your stomach.
Instead of moving, he just... looks at you.
His eyes track down your body, slow and deliberate, like he's memorizing every inch.
Like he's thinking about what's under that towel.
You refuse to squirm under his gaze. Two can play this game.
"Like what you see?" You cock an eyebrow, channeling your inner seductress (which is technically your job, so).
His mouth curves into that dangerous almost-smirk. "Maybe I'm just waiting to see if you'll drop that towel."
"You wish."
You turn your back on him (which is definitely not just an excuse to give him a better view) and head for his dresser.
The drawers are organized because of course they are. You find his t-shirts, all neatly folded like some department store display.
"I'm borrowing this," you announce, grabbing a shirt that looks big enough to work as a dress. You glance over your shoulder, catching his eyes again. "Unless you'd prefer me naked?"
His smirk grows, and fuck, that should be illegal.
"Be my guest."
The invitation in his voice makes your skin feel too tight, but you're not giving in that easy. This is a game of chicken now, and you're not about to lose.
Even if losing sounds really, really tempting right now.
You unwind the towel from your hair and toss it at Jeon, aiming for his face but hitting his chest instead.
"Just sleeping, remember? Go shower."
The towel slides down his front, and you catch this tiny twitch at the corner of his mouth—like he wants to smile but his reputation won't let him.
He stands up in that way he does, all fluid grace and barely contained power. Without a word, he heads for the bathroom. The door clicks shut, and soon you hear water running.
You grab his brush (because of course he has one, Mr. Perfect Hair) and start working through your damp hair.
It's weirdly domestic, sitting here in Jeon's room, wearing his shirt, using his stuff. The brush is probably expensive—it glides through your hair like it's made of silk or something.
Speaking of his shirt... You pull it on, and fuck. It smells like him—pine, wood, and smoke.
The fabric drowns you, hanging off one shoulder, falling to mid-thigh. There's something stupidly thrilling about wearing his clothes, like you're getting away with something.
Once your hair's somewhat tamed, you twist it up into a bun. The mirror catches your eye—one of those full-length ones that probably cost more than your monthly salary. You can't help checking yourself out, tugging the shirt down a bit because apparently, you still have modesty or whatever.
That's when you see him in the reflection.
Oh.
Jeon's fresh out of the shower, water still beading on his chest, towel riding low on his hips like it's trying to start something. He's got another towel in his hands, drying his hair as he sits on the bed, but his eyes?
His eyes are locked on your ass like it's his favorite meal.
The mirror gives you a perfect view of his face, and holy shit. The way he's looking at you—it's not subtle. At all. His gaze is heavy, hungry, like he's thinking about all the ways this "just sleeping" arrangement could go very, very wrong.
(Or very, very right, depending on your perspective.)
The temperature in the room spikes, and it's definitely not from the shower steam. You can practically feel the heat of his stare through the mirror.
So much for keeping things platonic tonight. A smirk tugs at your lips as an idea forms. Because if Jeon wants to play this game?
Well, two can definitely play.
You reach up to your bun, pretending to mess with the hair tie.
Oops—it "accidentally" slips through your fingers, falling to the floor with a silent grace that would make your Seduction Division trainers proud.
"Oh no," you say, channeling your best innocent voice. The one that fools absolutely no one but works anyway. "How clumsy of me."
You turn your back to Jeon, and fuck, you can practically feel his eyes burning into you.
Bending down—slowly, because you're nothing if not thorough—you give him a view that you know from experience he can't resist. The borrowed shirt rides up just enough to be interesting.
You take your sweet time "looking" for the hair tie, even though you can see it right there. Your fingers trail across the floor like you're putting on a show, which... yeah, you absolutely are.
When you finally grab it, you throw a look over your shoulder.
Jackpot.
Dark, obscure eyes pin you in place. Absolutely hungry. You'd bet good money that towel isn't hiding much anymore.
"See something you like?" Your voice comes out honey-sweet, but there's nothing innocent about the way you're looking at him.
Before he can compose himself enough to answer, you straighten up and sashay over to the bed. The sway in your hips isn't natural, but who cares about natural when it makes Jeon's breath catch like that?
You slip under the sheets, turning away from him because you're evil like that. The mattress dips as he lies down next to you, and you have to bite back a smile.
"We should get some rest." You keep your voice light, casual, like dismissing every inch of space between you. "Long day tomorrow."
He makes this grunt that could mean anything, but you know him well enough by now to recognize the sound of him wrestling with his self-control.
You can picture his face—brow furrowed, jaw clenched, probably glaring at the ceiling like he wants to shadowbox with it.
You wait, barely breathing.
Maybe you read this wrong.
Maybe he's actually planning to be good tonight.
Maybe he really does just want to sleep.
That's fine. Totally fine. This was his idea anyway, right? Just sleeping.
You're about to give up, admit defeat, when the mattress shifts.
Jeon rolls toward you, and suddenly his chest is pressed against your back, all heat and hard muscle. You fight back a shiver as his hand finds your hip, his thumb drawing lazy circles that make your skin buzz. His breath fans hot against your neck, and fuck, this is so much better than sleeping.
"I need to ease some tension, sunshine."
His voice is pure sin, rough and low right by your ear.
Heat pools in your stomach as you roll onto your back, meeting his gaze. His hand tightens on your waist, pulling you closer, and you can feel how much he wants this.
"Oh?" You hold his stare, watching his control slip. "I thought you'd never ask."
You're definitely not getting much sleep tonight.
But hey, that was kind of the point, wasn't it?

Their Children, Their Treasures
How the men of Amphoreus spend time with their children.
Tumblr media
Mydei is not the type to just sit and tell children how the world works. He shows them. He trains with his eldest son, but he doesn’t turn it into a tough workout — more of a game, testing his agility and reaction. He can throw him a wooden sword, forcing him to catch it, and then laughs when he proudly declares that he has become stronger. He takes his time with his daughter. Instead of combat training, he teaches her observation: he shows her how to read facial expressions, discern lies, understand when a person says one thing and means another.
Sometimes, when the night is quiet and the palace is asleep, Mydei takes the children for a walk. His son walks alongside him, trying not to show that he is a little nervous about the mysterious atmosphere. His daughter sits on his shoulders, clinging to his hair with her tiny hands. They walk, talk about something insignificant, look at the stars. For the children, this is an adventure, for him, a rare moment when he can simply enjoy their presence.
He has small rituals that are dear only to them. Every morning when he is home, he always plays with his daughter, letting her sit on his lap while he drinks his pomegranate juice. She chatters, sometimes incoherently, but he listens, answering in short phrases, because it is important for her to be heard. He has a special tradition with his eldest son - they arrange small competitions, who can tie a belt faster, who will be the first to notice something unusual around. These are not competitions in strength, but simply a test of attentiveness and ingenuity.
If one of the servants or courtiers looks at his children too appraisingly, he silently gives a look that makes the blood run cold. After that, no one dares to say anything unnecessary to the children. If a son comes to him with a question that is difficult to ask out loud, he never ridicules him. He does not say "you are still small", but calmly explains, because he knows that if not him, then someone else will give an answer, and it is not a fact that it is the right one. If his daughter gets tangled in ribbons or can't fasten her dress, he silently helps. His rough fingers can undo intricate knots with no less dexterity than they can handle a weapon.
The son has almost gotten used to the fact that his father rarely talks about his feelings. But he notices how he always puts his hand in front of him if someone comes too close, how he discreetly straightens his cloak, how he puts food in front of him first. And his daughter... She is his little princess, and he doesn't even try to hide it. He picks her up in his arms without saying a word if he sees that she is tired. If she plays with his hair or jewelry, he simply allows it silently. When she reaches out to him to take her, he never refuses. Mydei does not say loud words. But his children know that there is no one who will protect them more.

Silence at home? Not in their family. When Anaxa has free time, he organizes intellectual discussions, where each of his daughters tries to prove her point. Usually this develops into a heated argument, and he, sitting with a cup of tea, calmly observes and only occasionally throws out provocative questions, forcing them to think even deeper.
"Theory without practice is meaningless," says Anaxa, and his daughters immediately find a reason to prove this in practice. "Scientific disasters" regularly occur in the house: self-igniting mixtures, strange bubbling solutions or a device that was supposed to make life easier, but almost destroyed the kitchen.
Anaxa comes up with logical riddles that his daughters must solve using reasoning. Sometimes he does this on purpose in everyday life: he hides things, leaves encrypted notes or deliberately draws false conclusions to see if they will notice the mistake. If the evening is quiet, he sits in a chair, his daughters on either side of him, each with her own book. The elder reads serious literature, the younger something more daring and provocative, and Anaxa just smirks, seeing how their reading tastes reflect their personalities.
Despite all their intellectual development, they remain a family. Sometimes Anaxa allows his daughters to braid his hair (even if he pretends that he is not interested), sometimes he himself makes things for them that seem completely unrelated to science - beautiful jewelry or unusual objects that carry a hidden meaning.
Anaxa rarely speaks openly about his feelings, but if his daughters face difficulties, he is always there. When they achieve success, he simply looks at them with a barely noticeable smile and says: "I had no doubt. After all, you are my daughters."

When his first son was a baby, Phainon still hoped that his child would be calm, obedient, and perhaps even gentle. He imagined reading to him, teaching him high ideals… But as soon as the baby learned to crawl, the house turned into an arena of chaos. And then came the second. And now Phainon has two little whirlwinds that run around, fight each other with toy swords, and turn everything upside down.
Phainon may be a hero, but when his two sons jump on him from the couch with battle cries, he sincerely wonders if it is his destiny they are trying to overthrow. They use him as a living arena, clinging to his arms, tugging at his hair, and demanding that he play battles with them, which he invariably loses.
Phainon still reads them ancient Amphoraean legends, hoping to instill nobility and greatness of spirit in them. He sits with a book, telling stories about great heroes... and his sons listen with bated breath. And then one of them suddenly asks:
"Dad, if you were an evil god, would you lose to us?" Phainon exhales heavily.
Although he would never admit it, Phainon loves to tidy up their tousled hair. When they are little, he gently combs it, sometimes combing it with his hands. Later, when they grow up, he continues to do it mechanically, and when his sons begin to complain, he only smiles with a note of melancholy that they are growing up too fast.
When his sons begin training, he becomes a strict mentor. He teaches them to take blows, to think strategically, not to waste their strength. But if one of them hurts another or behaves dishonestly, his gaze becomes icy, telling them that they must be strong not for the sake of destruction, but for the sake of protection. And they remember this for the rest of their lives.
Despite the chaos, he loves it when his sons, tired of playing, crawl to him and fall asleep next to him. At such moments, he carefully covers them with a blanket, looks at their faces and says with a slight smile, almost in a whisper: “But I wanted a daughter…” But there is no disappointment in his voice – only warm affection. Phainon is a father who wanted a little princess, but in the end got two little whirlwinds who make his life chaotic, but happy. And even if they turn the house upside down, he would never trade them for anything in this world.

It was painstakingly obvious that Mattheo's curiosity had clearly gotten the best of him. Slipping down into a seat beside you in the back of the library, he smirked; honey tinted eyes washing over you with a trail of unspoken questions he’d stop at nothing to get answers for. Reaching out, with careful fingers, Mattheo tucked some loose hair which had fallen down in front of your face behind your ear, using the gesture as an excuse to let his fingertips linger beneath your chin and turn your head to face him.
“You know, you really should be more discreet with what you keep in your dorm..”
For a few moments, an array of impulsive thoughts and taunting images raced through your mind. When he had asked earlier in the day about borrowing a textbook you had on ancient runes for a class he wasn't all that committed to, you hadn't thought much about lending it to him. He just wanted to pass - you were nice enough to extend the offer to a friend - end of story. Right? Nope.
That little shit had taken it upon himself to snoop around your dorm as if he owned the place rather than just walking in and walking out the way you'd expected, like a thief in the middle of the night. You'd told him exactly where the book he was after was - top shelf in the bookcase beside your bed in between a stack of parchments you vaguely could refer to as homework and the novelty coffee mug of a dog he'd brought you years ago in Hogsmeade after you mentioned you thought it was cute.
Mind racing; you wondered what he'd stumbled on. Ever so surely, you began to flicker through the mental catalogue of everything you kept in your dorm. Perhaps the lucky red lace bra you always wore on first dates? The novelty candy G-string Pansy bought for your birthday last month? The handcuffs your ex had far too many ideas for? The bullet vibrator you kept in your bedside top drawer shaped like a golden snitch? No, let's be real - all these things were far too safe for someone with the last name Riddle; far too vanilla. Yet whilst you tried so desperately hard to think, your mind just couldn't quite pinpoint what he was hinting at.
“I’m sorry”, you murmured out with a raised brow, half tilting your head to the side to act partially naive and yet to also shift away from his touch. “You'll have to be more specific, Mattheo. I don't quite have the gift of legilimency like you do..”
“The list, sweetheart.”
For a moment you froze as time seemed to stop still. A single blink is what it took for your brain to kick-start back into motion after going offline oh so temporarily at his simple statement. The list. The god forsaken list. A stupid piece of parchment you'd hidden well, you initially thought, between ties and mismatched socks in your trunk which he'd had to have gone digging through to find. What a little shit –
“So you've been snooping?”, you sigh, hands raking through your hair roughly as the breath that escapes you burns raw against your lips. “Mattheo, we're friends - I trusted you to walk into my dorm, get what you needed and get out. Something that really, should not have been that difficult of a task for a wizard like yourself..”
He cuts you off by placing a finger firmly against your lips and scoots the seat he's on a few inches closer towards yours; wooden legs of the chair scraping harshly like nails on a chalkboard against the floor. With his free hand, he plucks the folded parchment out from his robe pocket and sets it out in front of you; his eyes dancing towards it, daring you to open it. You do - with shy, trembling hands; trying so, so hard to keep yourself afloat in this sudden drowning chaos you're finding yourself trapped within. It's okay, the waters only ankle deep - you can still get yourself out of this without needing to swim.
At the top of the list in handwriting which is clearly your own - that perfect cursive that has witches jealous of your quill skills, is Mattheo's name. Beneath it; listed in no particular order, a few dozen reasons girls think he'd be a decent fuck along with their signatures beside the comment. You swallow; the feeling rather uncomfortable and intense which hurts your throat as you listen to him begin to read it.
“Would definitely let me call him Daddy - A. Greengrass. Has 99 problems but that cock sure ain't one - L. Brown. Hands that could choke me into place with ease - H. Abbott. Are you girls bloody mental? Who writes shit like this?”
Would you answer him? Eh… The whole idea of lists had started out as a joke a few weeks ago at a party. Sober thoughts meeting drunken confidence when you'd suggested a list be written about all the boys you knew. Not necessarily sexual in nature but at least suggestive to some degree Somehow, rather unexpectedly; someone brought up Mattheo's name in conversation after commenting on how damn good he looked wearing all black, sipping on firewhiskey like it was nobodies business and bang - the ‘I would fuck him’ list was born.
“Riddle, it was just a little harmless fun. Like you can honestly tell me that you and your mates don't talk about or rank girls you'd like to hook up with or date or –.”
“Your name’s not on it.”
The sound of the library fell into a deep and unexpected silence you could hear a feather drop within. Your posture straightened upright; both brows rising as the faintest shade of rosy peach colouring skimmed across your cheeks. Coughing to clear your throat, you let out a semi-soulless chuckle.
“Yeah, because we're friends and I don't exactly see you in that way Mattheo.”
“But what would you write?”
“Nothing”, you confirmed with a confused stare at him, “We're friends.”
“But if you had to..”
Oh, he was getting desperate for an answer. How interesting. Had the names and comments already listed not been enough to stroke his rather expansive ego. You glance at the list before looking back at him; licking your tongue over your bottom lip to buy a little time to further think.
“You're not being serious?”
“Dead right I am.”
“Matt - almost three quarters of the bloody castle have signed a parchment that declares they'd willingly want to fuck you, and you're caught up on the fact that I, one of your best friends, hasn't signed it?”
The puppy dog look he shot you without warning made it feel like you'd just kicked him. You were well aware that there'd be only one way to suffice him, so picking up your quill you scribbled the first thing that came to mind and signed the bottom of the list. Mattheo had shifted to be staring over your shoulder intently as you scribbled away neatly; the gasp that from deep within his chest sounding like he may or may not have just experienced a minor heart attack.
“Might know how to use that tongue? Might? What the fuck? You think I'd suck at eating a girl out? Are you insane? I'm the best—.”
“Mattheo, seriously - shut up! We're in a library and I'm trying to study and yeah, as a matter of fact, you seem like a guy who wouldn't want to get messy and doesn't have the patience to go down on a girl long enough to please her, so yes. Might - know - how to use that tongue. Take it or leave it.”
Your heart is racing at this point. It was a joke. This whole thing. The list, your comment, the fact the two of you were even having this conversation. He slaps a hand down hard against the desk causing your ink bottle to shake and lets out a gruff sounding growl making your thighs tremble and quake. No. No. No…
“You're a wicked little witch.”
The sentence comes out with a hiss and a little sprinkle of threat and before you know it, Mattheo has slid his chair back, not caring to glance around and see if the two of you have company before dropping to the floor and crawling beneath the desk. Your brain short circuits again, this time; involuntarily as you feel his hands spread your knees apart; lips pressing hot, slow kisses that burn up the inside of your thighs deliciously. God it had been so fucking long since you'd been touched.
“W-what are you doing?”
*Proving that statement of yours fucking wrong.”
His curls tickling against your skin, your hands grasped at the edge of the desk you sat at, knuckles whitening as his teeth sank in to nip sultry at your skin. Your body tensed for a split second before sinking into the seat, his lips continuing to pepper kisses up your thighs before planting a final teasing kiss over your panties against your core that had you seeing stars.
“Hell.. Mattheo - we need to sto-...”
Like he was about to listen. Honestly. Tugging your panties to one side, you felt him chuckle against your clit before pressing the softest of kisses against it; your nerves endings bursting into an electric craze. Tip of his tongue sliding neatly in between your folds, you bit a knuckle painfully between your teeth to stifle a moan and felt your body grow warm.
“Oh my god..”
The words are nothing more than an uttered whisper of submission as Mattheo's tongue flickered teasingly over your entrance, slipping in shallow to torment you as his hands wrap around your thighs in an attempt at keeping you still. Your head tilts back; eyes clamped shut, your own hands tearing your skirt up to find his curls and knot through them, keeping Mattheo's head and mouth exactly where you need it.
“Mhmm.. you taste so fucking good.”
Compliments? Ugh. Your toes curl as his tongue continues to slide between your wet folds, sucking at your clit before diving back into you again. Your hips rock to help fuck yourself against his tongue to which he doesn't object to; devouring you like a feral animal who hasn't had a feed in weeks. You can feel your thighs becoming wet; your arousal evident as it paints his chin, the seat, your legs slick. You try to control it; the coil of heat burning in the pit of your stomach but when he shakes his head, tongue flickering over every inch of you on offer, your mind loses it.
Clamping your thighs tightly around him, Mattheo continues to let his tongue work magic; sucking at your folds before one final hit at your clit that has you not only seeing stars but almost seeing the whites and sparkle of what you can only guess are the pearly gates of heaven. Breathing heavily, you feel your legs lose tension as you unknown your fingers from his curls; face flushed and body quivering as you struggle to regain your breath.
“Holy fuck that was -..”
“Amazing?”, Mattheo asks, picking himself up off the floor to take the seat beside you again.
You blush a little harder; struggling to pick up your quill, yet you manage to, crossing out on the list what you wrote to reconfirm what you'd doubted. Mattheo's gaze turns from hungry to soft as you correct your admittance.
A tongue that belongs to me.
He can't help but gloat; chest puffed out, chin still glistening as he smirks your way. Leaning across, Mattheo presses a kiss to your temple, slinking an arm around your shoulders almost possessively.
“I'll admit baby girl, I'm kind of impressed I was able to change your mind so quickly. Tell me though - are there other lists or am I the only boy oh so fortunate?”
“Oh”, you chuckle, shifting your tie around your neck to adjust it for some breathing room, “There's another list.”
“Another?”, Mattheo spits out immediately. The way you've suggested it and he's said it, making it clear that apart from his laying on the desk in front of you, there's only one other in existence.
“Mhmm”, you mumble in confirmation.
“So who's the guy?”
Oh this is fun - he got to tease you, and now the tables have turned in your favour for you to tease him. Twirling your quill between your fingertips, you reach out to dip the tip into your ink pot and smirk.
“Theodore”, you explain with nothing more than his best friend's name.
“...and is his ‘list’ as extensive as mine?”
“Oh it's longer..”, you giggle, trying to focus back on your studies, “..and before you ask, yeah - I've signed it.”

Everything in the world is about sex — except sex. Sex is about power.
At an early age, you learned how to wield your sexuality like a weapon. After working as a courtesan for as long as you have, you quickly realized that men were truly only capable of categorizing women in one of two ways: the Virgin: an embodiment of purity, innocence, and virtue or the Whore: an incarnation of seduction, manipulation, and promiscuity.
To be desirable, you were expected to walk a fine line and maintain a perfect balance between the two. Lean too close to the right and you’re classified a prude. Swing too far to the left and you’re labeled a slut. The difference lies in whether or not you know how to play the game.
Given your line of work, it was in your best interest to become a top player. According to the Madam, you had a gift when it came to enticing clients. In reality, you were merely observant. The ability to accurately read people was a necessity in the game of seduction.
To seduce someone, you need to know their dreams, their hopes, and most importantly, their desires. Most clients were motivated by a fantasy. It was your job to become that fantasy and you were quite good at your job.
Ironically enough, the Madam always said that there were only two types of clients. The majority sought after instant gratification; a quick fuck, a one night stand, a memory to get himself off to while he lies next to his wife longing for the glory days of when his cock still worked. They were easier to please. The latter, on the other hand, proved to be a little more difficult. The naive ones that believed in silly fairy tales like making love, sighing dreamily about romance and intimacy and connection while inevitably setting themselves up for disappointment.
You were more realistic. For you, sex has always been tit-for-tat. You never offered more than you received. Until Lord Riddle.
You should have known Mattheo was trouble from the moment you laid eyes on him.
The first thing that you noticed about the young lord is that he preferred his own company. Every time you came across him in the Underworld, he was always alone. Mattheo never interacted with the other clients. Not out of shame like most of the first timers at the club, but out of observance. He was gauging his surroundings, judging the others around him in stoic silence, and filing them away in neat little categories in his mind. In other words, Lord Riddle was a predator sizing up his prey. Just like you.
Usually, it only took a single interaction for you to figure out what type of person someone was. You could easily tell which clients possessed great wealth, political advantage, or secrets so terrible that you could easily exploit for your own advantage. Needless to say, this special skill of yours made you the most infamous courtesan in all of London and subsequently, the Madam’s favorite.
But as you observed the mysterious stranger from across the room, you were surprised to come across something that you haven’t encountered for a very long time — a challenge.
“Great choice,” the Madam praised from over your shoulder. “Would you like to be introduced?”
“No,” you answered as you lazily sipped on a glass of champagne. “Lord Riddle will make his move when the time is right.”
Three nights passed before Lord Riddle made his approach. The Underworld was filled to the brim with gyrating bodies, their sticky and sweaty limbs pressed against one another as they danced to the seductive crooning of the singer on stage. The red spotlight bathed the crowd in a hazy light as smoke curled through the dancefloor.
“Not a fan of the crowd, I take it?” Lord Riddle drawled as he smoothly sidled up to your side.
“I prefer to watch,” you replied nonchalantly as you sipped champagne. “Clearly, I’m not alone in that, my lord.”
Lord Riddle smirked seductively, drawing you in like a predator toying with his prey. As you firmly held his gaze, you finally allowed yourself to truly take him in. Looking at Mattheo was like looking at a masterpiece — the dark and seductive eyes, the sharp cheekbones, the angular jaw, and the tall and lean body that towered over your own were all pieces of a work of art that deserved to be immortalized in a museum. Suffice to say that he was the most beautiful man you had ever seen.
Still, there was more to Lord Riddle than just an aesthetically pleasing appearance. There was a presence about him, a certain magnetism that pulled you into his orbit. You felt drawn to him in a way that you had never felt with anyone else before.
“I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced.” His voice was husky — smoky almost and it sounded like silk to your ears. Lord Riddle held out a gloved hand and flashed his charming smile. “My name is Mattheo. Mattheo Riddle.”
You shook his covered hand, noting the ancient heirloom ring sitting snugly on his right ring finger. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, my lord. My name is Y/N.”
Mattheo extended your hand up to his mouth and placed a chaste kiss on the back of your palm. The coolness of his lips against your skin sent shivers up your spine. “The pleasure is all mine, Miss Y/N,” he purred. “And please, call me Mattheo.”
With a sly smile, you swiped a glass of champagne from a passing tray and handed it to your newfound companion. Mattheo took a graceful sip, his intense gaze drinking you in.
“What brings you up here tonight, Mattheo?” You gestured to the lower level of the club where the atmosphere shifted into a hedonistic maelstrom. “Surely you would much rather partake in the revelries happening down there.”
Mattheo leaned closer and the strong scent of cinnamon and tobacco enveloped you from all sides. “Something tells me that the main event is right here,” he whispered as he caged you against the banister until all you could see, feel, and hear was him. “With you.”
Unperturbed, you flashed him a seductive grin. “Smart and handsome,” you quipped as you smoothed the lapels of his velvet suit jacket. Mattheo trailed your touch with that intense gaze, his eyes following a path down the hard plane of his chest, which was exposed beneath an unbuttoned black dress shirt. The silver cross chain around his neck glimmered underneath the dim club lights. “Perhaps I’ve found the cure to my perpetual boredom.”
“If you’re bored, then you’re more than welcome to play with me.”
You raised a perfectly manicured brow. “Is that a proposition, my lord?”
Mattheo was the perfect picture of sensuality as he closed the gap between you. “Not the type that you think,” he murmured softly. “After all, I am a gentleman so I intend to do this properly with you.”
You raised your chin defiantly. “I can be proper.”
His dark chuckle caressed your skin. “Somehow I doubt that,” Mattheo gibed. “Be that as it may, my offer is quite simple. I request your company for dinner tomorrow evening at my estate.”
“For what purpose?”
“I would like to get to know you,” Mattheo explained. “Preferably without the smoke and mirrors of this place. You’ll find that I’m a simple man with simple taste. I do not require such pageantry. What I want is the pleasure of your company over dinner and drinks.”
“A date?” You reiterated with intrigue. “That’s not the way we do things around here.”
Mattheo smiled. “I have a feeling you’ll make an exception for me, love.”
“What makes you so sure of that?”
“I intrigue you,” he simply stated. “I am a complete mystery to you. A puzzle of sorts. You like to solve puzzles. All you have to do to find the missing piece is accept.”
“If I do,” you proposed in a neutral tone, your gaze flickering up to this magnanimous man. “Will I finally have the full picture of who you are, Lord Riddle?”
Mattheo bowed and kissed your hand once more. “Come and find out, love.”
Tumblr media
The wrought iron gates creaked as the carriage rounded the Riddle Estate. The ancestral home was imposing, its pointed arches and towering spires looming ominously against the backdrop of the full moon. The lawn was meticulously maintained, every hedge trimmed and shaped to perfection.
The carriage came to a stop in front of an ornately carved wooden door. You thanked the coachman and climbed the steps one by one, careful not to step on your scarlet silk dress. As if on cue, the doors opened of its own accord. A servant awaited you inside, his stern expression fixed as he welcomed you into the home.
“Welcome, Miss Y/N,” he rasped out. “Lord Riddle awaits you on the terrace. Follow me, please.”
“Thank you for having me,” you said graciously as he led you through the luxurious home. You took a moment to appreciate the intricate artwork that lined the walls. “The estate is quite beautiful. From what I understand, this place holds a lot of history. Everything has been preserved from when the Prince resided here. Is that correct?”
The man’s expression transformed from indifference to delight. “Before it became the Riddle Estate, this ancestral home was called Carfax. To honor its history, the Riddles have maintained the furnishings in its original state from when the Prince first purchased the property in the nineteenth century.”
“Lord Riddle is quite right to do so,” you said in admiration. “There’s a certain melancholy to this place that I find quite charming.” The man nodded in appreciation. “Haunting, even.”
“The only thing that haunts these four walls now are me,” Mattheo said when you reached the terrace. His dimpled smile was as charming and haunting as his home. “Thank you for guiding Miss Y/N, Nigel. That’ll be all for the night.”
You curtsied as the man called Nigel bowed. “Have a lovely evening, Miss Y/N,” Nigel said in parting. “Perhaps I may give you a tour of this grand home and discuss its historic importance when my lord allows it.”
“That would be lovely,” you accepted with a smile. “Thank you, Nigel.”
Mattheo watched in amusement, his brows quirking as he watched the man depart. “I’m impressed,” he said with a chuckle. “You’ve managed to charm Nigel. I haven’t seen him smile in decades.”
“I’ve been told I have a certain appeal.”
“Speaking of,” Mattheo drawled as he surveyed you. His gaze snagged on where the silk accentuated your curves. “You look quite ravishing tonight.”
You allowed a demure smile as you discretely scrutinized him. “I could say the same of you.”
In all honesty, ravishing might be an understatement when it came to Mattheo. The silk button down he donned tonight was as dark as sin. At first, you thought it was black until the candlelight flickered through the fabric. Then you realized that it was a crimson so dark it appeared onyx like dried blood. His trousers were black and neatly pressed and on his feet were expensive leather shoes. The same cross chain dangled from his neck, disappearing underneath his shirt. You desperately wanted to trace it with your tongue.
Mattheo rested his gloved hand on your lower back, guiding you gently to your seat. “You’re just in time,” he said in a pleased tone. “Dinner is ready.”
As you settled into your seat, you had to admit that this wasn’t at all what you expected. You envisioned a grand and ostentatious six course meal served by servants while you and Mattheo were seated on opposite ends of an expensive mahogany table. In comparison, this was intimate and cozy. You were surprised to find that you preferred this much more.
Dinner was a delicious serving of filet mignon, asparagus, and parmesan crusted potatoes that Mattheo served you himself. It was better than any meal you had ever had. To top it off, the wine he paired with the food was a rich vintage that was probably older than both of you combined.
The conversation flowed easily between you. Mattheo was curious about you and asked questions at any given opportunity. He wanted to know your hobbies, your friends, your aspirations. It was more than anyone had ever inquired about you in a long time.
“How did you come to work for the club?”
You tensed at the question, but smoothly brushed over the reaction with a sip of wine. “My father was an alcoholic and a gambler. The drunker he got, the higher he bet. Unfortunately, luck never seemed to be on his side. One day, he lost a bet against a very powerful man. My father was given three days to repay his debt. Failure to do so would mean forfeiting his life. When I was eight, he sold me to the Madam and the rest is history.”
Mattheo listened intently, captivated by your story. There wasn’t a hint of pity in his eyes, which you appreciated. You hated when people treated you like some broken little bird. The story wasn’t meant to elicit sympathy. It was a shitty thing, yes. But shitty things happened all the time.
Even to little girls who didn’t deserve it.
The fact of the matter was that you were the most influential courtesan in London while your father had drank himself into an early grave. You had accomplished more than he ever did in his sorry life. Because of him, you learned to read men with pinpoint accuracy so you would never be at one’s mercy again.
“Did your father ever show remorse for what he had done?” Mattheo asked curiously.
You snorted. “That would require him to have a conscience. Besides, I neither want nor need his remorse. He died the way that he lived — drowning in liquor and debt.”
“And the powerful man?”
“Six feet under,” you declared nonchalantly. The governor was the first in a long line of men that met their demise by your hand. “May his soul burn in hell."
Dark eyes sparked with understanding. In the light, they almost looked crimson. “Who would be so bold to execute such a powerful man?”
“A little girl with a grudge.”
Pleased, Mattheo kissed your knuckles. He cleared the plates away and beckoned you to follow him. “Come, love. I want to show you something.”
You followed Mattheo back into his home and walked through a maze of floors and hallways before you reached the west wing of the estate. He pushed open a heavy wooden door and led you into what looked like an office. Despite the extravagance of the rest of the house, the office was simple yet elegant.
Crimson curtains reflected the moonlight, a breeze rippling through them like a phantom wind. Artifacts and artwork littered every corner of the room, including the mahogany desk positioned against the back wall. Important documents were arranged in organized stacks, but beside them were sketches and drawings of varying shape and color.
“Everything there is to know about me is in this room,” Mattheo explained. “You said you wanted a full picture of me, so I’m giving you what I promised.”
The part of you that harbored mistrust was alarmed by his openness. “Why?”
“To show you that I am true to my word. I will always be true to my word,” he emphasized. “Especially when it comes to you.”
“I still don’t understand.”
“Your madam told me about a special talent of yours.”
“I wouldn’t call it a talent. I’m just terribly observant. If you know where to look, most people are an open book.”
Mattheo fixed his gaze on you. “Read me then, love.”
“Most men can’t handle the truth.”
“I’m not like most men.”
Between the lines, the true meaning of his statement revealed itself. This room was the very core of who he was and now he was inviting you in. Mattheo was putting himself wholly and utterly at your mercy. To scrutinize, to inspect, to judge. He knew how important it was for you to have the upper hand and he was willingly offering it to you.
In silent acceptance, you surveyed the room with unveiled scrutiny. Your gaze snagged on a few interesting things. The family crest stamped on official documents. The trinkets and tokens originating from all around the world. The stoic portrait sitting above the mantelpiece. The picture of a dark haired boy that bore a great resemblance to the man before you peeking out from a discarded album.
They all contained a piece of the puzzle that was Mattheo Riddle.
“You’re wealthy, but not in the same sense that the rest of the club’s clientele are. You hail from old money, the type of generational wealth that most likely traces back to nobility. You’re well traveled and highly intellectual. You pick up interests left and right and you’ve probably studied at a handful of prestigious universities around the world, but you can never stick to just one topic. You have an older sibling that you have a very complicated relationship with. You’re guarded and extremely selective about the people you let in because you’re afraid of showing them the man beneath the mask. You don’t want control. You need it. Probably because you’ve felt out of control your whole life.”
“That’s a clever trick,” Mattheo drawled as he appeared in front of you in the blink of an eye. You sucked in a breath as he pressed you against the wooden desk, resting his hands above your waist. “Is that all your instincts tell you about me?”
“You say that you aren’t like most men, because you aren’t a man at all. You’re something else entirely. Something dark. Something dangerous.”
Red eyes glimmered underneath the moonlight. “What am I?” Mattheo rasped as he pressed his hips against yours. “Tell me, love.”
You held your chin high and looked him in the eyes. “You’re a vampire.”
The mask slipped as Mattheo transformed before you. His eyes were as red as blood, dark veins forming on his pale skin. You gasped when his canines elongated, sharp and lethal and deadly. He could probably drain you of life and you wouldn’t even know it until it was too late.
“How did you figure it out?”
“You wear gloves because your skin is as cold as ice, your eyes are crimson in certain lights, and you speak like you’ve lived a thousand different lives. Plus, you’ve been staring at my neck all night like you’re just waiting for the chance to sink your teeth in.”
“Are you scared?”
“No.”
“You should be,” Mattheo drawled. “I have lived for five hundred years and never once have I experienced bloodlust like this in all of my existence. Your blood calls to me. I knew it from the first night I laid my eyes on you.”
The admission should have frightened you, but instead in some strange way you understood. On any other occasion, you never would have allowed yourself to be alone in a strange home with a strange man, but for some reason, you felt compelled to accept. Whether by fate or kismet or destiny, you knew that you were meant to be here tonight.
Mattheo caressed your throat and buried his nose in the crook of your neck to inhale the heavenly scent. “Tell me love,” he rasped, his voice rough and gravelly. “What do you desire most in life?”
There was no hesitation in your voice when you spoke. “Power.”
“I could give that to you,” Mattheo promised. “I could give you power beyond what you could ever imagine. All you have to do is say yes.”
“What are you asking for in exchange?”
“You,” Mattheo said simply. “I want you. Bind yourself to me and you will never feel powerless again. I will worship you like the goddess that you are. I will devote myself to you for eternity. I will be yours and you will be mine.”
“You want me to be your consort?”
Dark eyes flickered with desire. “No, darling,” he purred smoothly. “I want you to be my equal. Equal in wealth, equal in beauty, equal in power.”
The idea thrilled you. Being an influential courtesan was one thing, but becoming an immortal vampire with immense riches and power would provide security that not even the Madam could offer. You thought about the little girl that you were — scared and helpless as your father ripped you away from the only life you’d ever known. If you accepted Mattheo’s offer, you would never have to feel that way again. You would be untouchable.
"Why me?"
"Because you are beautiful and bloodthirsty. Because you are clever and cunning. Because you clawed your way into a better future despite the pull of the past," Mattheo declared with certainty. "Because in all my existence, I have never met anyone quite like you."
“You feel it too, don’t you?” Sharp fangs caressed your neck as Mattheo dragged his canines against your skin. “The pull between us. I never believed in the concept of mates, but even I could not deny the call of the bond. I have searched for you for centuries and I was not even aware of it until I finally found you.”
“Is that what it is?” Since that first night at the club, you had felt inexplicably drawn to Mattheo. Even then you knew it was more than attraction. It was like every fiber of your being yearned for him. “You’re my mate?”
Mattheo nodded. “Only if you accept the bond.”
“Yes,” you breathed. “Yes, I accept.”
“I will have to turn you,” Mattheo explained carefully. “The ritual will be painful. I will drink of your blood and you will drink of mine. Once the venom courses through your veins, the pain will be excruciating, but I will be with you every step of the way.” He caressed your cheek, his expression softening. “Do you trust me, love?”
Strangely enough, you did. You knew that Mattheo would stay true to his word.
With a nod, the ritual began. Mattheo fisted your hair between his fingers and tilted your head back. He hummed against your skin, leaving a trail of kisses up the column of your throat before settling on a spot at the junction of your collarbone. His dark eyes flicked up to yours as his fangs elongated. Mattheo watched for signs of hesitation, but found none.
You gasped as he sank his teeth into your flesh, eyes fluttering shut as the sting of the bite took hold. Mattheo moaned as he drank your blood. The venom spread like wildfire in your veins, scorching your entire being from head to toe. It felt like your blood was boiling. You screamed as tremors rocked your body, phantom hands taking hold of your bones and breaking them over and over again. You screamed as the pain spread, but Mattheo stayed focused and retrieved a dagger from his desk drawer.
In one swift move, he cut his palm open and held it over your mouth. “Drink, my love,” Mattheo instructed. “It will ease the pain.”
Desperate, you lapped up Mattheo’s blood with urgency. The metallic taste filled your mouth, but you couldn’t help but drink deeper as it turned sweet and heady, tasting like wine on your tongue. The more you drank, the better you felt. It was almost as though his blood was the antidote to the pain.
“That’s it,” Mattheo murmured. “You’re doing so well, my love. Just a little more.” You sucked on his palm shamelessly, blood dripping down the front of your dress. “That’s a good girl.”
Mattheo wiped his blood from the corner of your mouth before crashing his lips against yours. You groaned as he pressed you against the desk, his hands gripping your waist while you kissed him back with equal fervor. Passion sparked between you as Mattheo scrambled to taste as much of you as he could.
His soft pants echoed in your ears as he desperately chased after your kisses, blood staining both of your mouths. A euphoric feeling washed over you like a wave, chasing the pain away and replacing it with a surge of pleasure. Every touch felt heightened, your senses shifting into overdrive as Mattheo pulled away.
You whined at the loss, which made him grin apologetically. “The ritual isn’t complete yet, my love.”
Mattheo flipped the dagger in his hand and beckoned you over to the middle of the room. He pulled out the expensive rug and carelessly tossed it aside before kneeling on the wooden floorboards. You mirrored the gesture and watched as Mattheo pulled you against him, placing the dagger in your hand. He produced a grimoire and skimmed through the pages until he found the right one.
“We must draw the ancient bonding runes,” Mattheo explained as he pointed at the carvings illustrated on the grimoire. “They will signify our eternal union. Once we carve them, there’s no going back.”
You gripped the dagger tightly. “Together?”
Mattheo smiled. “Together, my love.”
Carefully, the two of you carved the runes into the floor. The carvings glowed as mist and fog rose up from the wooden floorboards. You shivered as the temperature dropped, an eerie wind blowing through the crimson curtains. As you finished the last rune, you and Mattheo turned to face each other.
Blood stained his hand as he reached up to caress your cheek, his eyes black with desire. You could feel the ritual sinking into your bones, changing the very core of your being. The bond physically took hold as the connection stretched taut between the two of you. The scarlet string glowed and the end of your thread reached towards Mattheo.
“What do we do now?”
Mattheo’s fiery gaze flickered up to you. “Now we consummate the union.”
Your breathing slowed as Mattheo drew you close, his face mere inches away from yours. Desire burned through you like a living flame. At that moment, nothing existed but him.
“I want you, Mattheo,” you breathed. “My mate.”
You groaned as Mattheo kissed you deeply, his hands finding refuge in your hips. The taste of him was intoxicating, sweeter than any wine you had ever consumed. You groaned as he parted your lips with his tongue and placed you over his lap. The kisses grew desperate, like you couldn’t get enough of one another. Mattheo pulled down the straps of your dress, kissing every inch of skin he had access to.
“Let me worship you like you deserve,” he murmured in reverence.
His eyes remained fixated on you as he laid you atop the runes, its glow bathing both of you in scarlet light. Mattheo took his time lavishing your body with kisses, marking every inch of you with his mouth. You moaned as his dark head disappeared between your legs, his sharp canines tickling the inside of your thighs. He took your lace panties off with his teeth and hooked your legs over his shoulders.
The anticipation was almost too much to bear until Mattheo finally put his mouth on you. He eagerly feasted, his hunger evident in the way he buried his tongue in your cunt. You tugged at his curls as he licked and sucked, lapping up your arousal with unbroken focus. When his tongue flicked over your clit, you bucked against his mouth and shamelessly moaned his name.
“You’re a fucking goddess, Y/N,” Mattheo declared.
The sight of him between your thighs, his mouth dripping with blood and cum while his eyes burned with carnal passion was enough to send you over the edge, but you didn’t want to come without him. You wanted to do this right. You wanted to do this together.
“I need you,” you pleaded as you tugged at his belt. “Please, Mattheo.”
“You never have to beg,” Mattheo answered as he undressed. “I’m yours, Y/N.”
With bated breath, you watched in anticipation as Mattheo crawled over you, his gaze wild and hungry. He groaned when you tugged him down by his curls, his mouth meeting yours in a heated frenzy. His hard length pressed against your center as you parted your legs for him, greedily wrapping them around his waist while you grinded deliciously against his cock.
The friction was divine, but you needed more. So much more. Mattheo growled into your mouth as he guided your hand towards his impressive length, chuckling softly when your eyes widened at his size. Crimson bled into soft chocolate eyes as Mattheo lined himself up at your entrance.
“You’re fucking exquisite,” he whispered in reverence as he traced your jaw. “I have waited for you for centuries and it was worth every second.”
You whimpered as he eased into you, his cock stretching your walls as you adjusted to his length. Praises flowed from Mattheo’s mouth as he pushed inside, giving you inch after inch until he was fully sheathed in your pussy. The pressure was painful at first, but it soon gave way to pleasure.
“I feel so full,” you groaned as Mattheo kissed your neck. “So full of you, Mattheo.”
“Is it as heavenly for you as it is for me, love?”
In response, you secured your legs around his waist and pushed him in further, making the both of you moan in satisfaction.
“Does that answer your question?”
A cheeky grin appeared on Mattheo’s handsome face. “You’re absolutely sinful, but don’t get too cocky. I’m going to ruin you for every other man.”
“You already have,” you responded as Mattheo moved slowly, dragging his cock in and out of you until you actually whined from the absence. “No man could ever measure up. There is no one like you, Mattheo.”
The declaration seemed to unleash something inside of Mattheo. His movements, once slow and calculated, turned frenzied and frantic. His hands were all over your body, his fangs dragging up the column of your throat while his form enveloped you whole until you couldn’t tell where you began and where he ended.
You matched his rhythm, rocking your hips to the frenetic pace. Mattheo hissed as you clawed at his back and slammed harder into you, seeming to know exactly what you needed without you speaking it into existence. The ancient runes glowed and your blood hummed in agreement, accepting the final binding of the ritual.
“Do you feel that, love?” Mattheo grunted, his sweat matted curls plastered to his forehead. “That’s my power flowing into you. With it, you will be unstoppable.”
Your back arched against the floor as energy surged through your veins, electrifying every cell in your body. The scarlet thread between you and Mattheo twined itself into an unbreakable connection, connecting your mind, body, and soul together.
A shiver skittered down your spine as you looked into a pair of crimson eyes. “We will be unstoppable. My mate, my love, my Y/N.”
The pleasure was overwhelming. You tugged Mattheo down to you, panting into his mouth as you kissed him. “So close,” you breathed. “I’m so close.”
Your gums ached as fangs began to elongate from your mouth. Mattheo watched proudly, his handsome face bathed in awe at the transformation.
“Surrender to it,” he whispered softly. “Bite me, my love.”
The words gave you pause, but as soon as he spoke them, hunger and bloodlust seemed to awaken in your veins.
“Drink from my blood,” Mattheo encouraged. “Mark me. Claim me. Devour me.”
Without hesitation, you sank your teeth into the side of his neck. The thirst was unquenchable and you drank deeply, greedy for the taste of his blood. Mattheo’s hips stuttered as he moaned erotically, his release close.
“That’s it, Y/N.” Mattheo encouraged as blood dribbled down his neck. His fingers swiped over your clit, rubbing stimulating circles and making you feel untethered. “Surrender yourself to me completely. Come for me, my love.”
A whip of lightning lashed at your body, searing you from head to toe as you toppled over the edge. The orgasm was white and blinding, seizing your very being with pleasure. Mattheo kissed you through the comedown, letting you ride it out as you clawed at his back and arms.
“Look at me,” he commanded. “Watch the way you undo me.”
Mattheo was a man ruined. As soon as your gazes met, he threw his head back and roared in pleasure. The way he looked when he came, perfect curls mussed and sex tousled, abs straining as he emptied himself inside of you, and mouth open as your name left his lips, was something that would be ingrained into your mind for the rest of time.
The bond settled between you then, signaling the completion of the ritual. You were now connected to Mattheo in every way possible. The courtesan who once vowed never to give herself to a man now found herself bonded.
Mattheo embraced you in his arms, holding you close. You pressed your cheek against his solid chest and found comfort in his touch.
“What happens now?”
“I devour you again and again,” Mattheo responded cheekily. “And once more before the sun rises."
You chuckled softly. “After that?”
“You decide, my love.” He declared with no qualms. “You are in control of your story now.”
“And if I said the little girl with the grudge wanted to burn the whole world down?”
Crimson eyes met yours. “Then I’ll help her light the match.”
Mattheo meant it. You knew it in your very bones. With a smile, you settled into his arms. Feeling safe. Feeling loved. Feeling like you could rule the world. He gave you that. Your mate.
As your eyes fluttered close, one thought flashed through your once cynical mind.
Perhaps sex wasn’t always about power.
Perhaps, on rare occasions, sex was about so much more.

*Vil, Kalim, Idia, and Azul, along with MC, Crowley, the other teachers, and the vice dorm leaders, were waiting in front of the Dark Mirror, hoping for Riddle, Malleus, and Leona's safe return.*
Lilia: What's taking them so long?
Crowley: *has a serious expression*
Professor Trein: The Dark Mirror has located them, and they are indeed on the other side, but something is preventing them from passing through.
Crowley: ...
MC: Can't Malleus and the others handle that?
Vil: Potato, we are powerless in that world; that's why we needed your doppelganger's help to get us out.
Azul: Unfortunately, they were caught the last time they assisted Vil and me. They’re probably in a really difficult position at the moment.
Kalim: E-Even so! I'm sure MC(?) has plans!
Idia: You could say that. We’ve been trying for the past few days, and finally, the Dark Mirror has located them.
MC: *approaches the Dark Mirror and turns around to face them*
MC: Isn’t there any way for us to find out what’s happening on the other side?
*The eyes of the people in front of them widened as they saw pairs of arms sneaking behind the Prefect, attempting to grab them.*
Azul: *is just in time to yank them out of the arms' reach*
MC: ...
MC: What are those...?
Crowley: *uses his whip to lash at the arms, forcing them to retreat*
Crowley: Everyone! Keep your distance from the Dark Mirror!
Riddle: Professor Trein, how much longer do we have to wait?
Professor Trein(?): ...
Riddle: Professor Trein?
Leona: He's gone.
Riddle: ...
Malleus: ...
Leona: Oi, lizard, have you heard anything useful?
Malleus: *listens intently for any sounds coming from outside the door, now that the noises and cries have finally stopped*
Malleus: ...
Malleus: I can't hear them anymore, but I can sense a presence outside.
Riddle: Is it the Prefect's?
Malleus: ...
*Then a soft knock was heard.*
MC(?): I apologize for the wait… You can come out now…
Riddle, Leona, and Malleus: ...
Leona: How can we trust your words?
Malleus(?): You should—while my precious one can still talk.
*The door opened on its own, and on the other side stood Malleus(?) with MC(?) wrapped in his arms.*
Malleus(?): *smiles* Thank you. It's been a while since I've seen any emotion from them.
MC(?): *their eyes look lifeless*
Malleus: ...
Malleus: What did you do?
Malleus(?): Hmm... It would have been more fun if we had managed to get the other one from the other side of the mirror *not answering the question*. Unfortunately, my friends were too slow.
Malleus(?): *chuckles* Anyway, it doesn't matter. Your journey ends here. I'm allowing you to leave.
Riddle and Leona: *glance at MC(?)*
MC(?): ...
MC(?): *smiles softly*
Malleus(?): A new world awaits us, my precious. *then disappears with them*
Malleus, Riddle, and Leona: ...
*Back in the Mirror Room, everyone let out a sigh of relief when the attacks stopped. However, some were still unnerved—especially by the fact that the attackers all seemed intent on capturing the Prefect.*
Kalim: MC, are you alright?
MC: Yes. Thanks for protecting me.
*The Dark Mirror glowed, and Leona, Malleus, and Riddle finally appeared, all looking visibly distraught.*
Lilia: Malleus-!
Trey: Riddle!
Ruggie: Leona!
Riddle: *couldn't help but break down into tears*
Trey: *has approached him* It's okay now, Riddle...
Lilia: Malleus! How are you feeling?!
Malleus: ...
Malleus: The child of man... Where are they?
MC: Hornton! I'm here! *rushes to him*
Malleus: *gently embraced them* I'm sorry... Please forgive me...
Leona: ...
Leona: Hey, we still have the keys.
Crowley: I'm afraid you can't keep them. You must return them to the mirror to sever any remaining connection.
Malleus, Riddle, and Leona: ...
Leona: *sigh* I want to go back to my dorm and sleep. *throws his*
Riddle: *hands his to Trey to do it for him*
Malleus: ...
MC: Hornton?
Malleus: ...
MC: ...
MC: I don’t know what happened, but… if my other self saved all of you, then… I’m sure they feel no regrets.
Malleus: ...
Malleus: *nods and finally lets go of his key*
Malleus(?): My precious, you feel warm... just like you used to.
MC(?): *their lifeless body cradled in his arms*
Malleus(?): *smiles, looks lovingly at them*
Malleus(?): At last, we've created a world where it's just the two of us.

"Is the room to your liking?"
Riddle's tentative voice rings through the peaceful silence. He's stood like a stranger, unsure and hesitant in his crimson pajamas. Which is ironic given the fact that it’s his own room that the two of you are in. Really, that should be you standing around awkwardly. But instead here you were, sat on his king sized bed in similar pajamas without shame.
"Riddle," you don't have to fake the giddy grin as it stretches across your face painfully wide. "Any room is to my liking considering the shack I currently call home."
He gives you a concerned little smile in response. You couldn’t help it, you were excited to finally be able to sleep on a mattress that wasn’t lumpy. Or creaky. And or slightly moldy. The point being you’re excited to get some good sleep.
Riddle flicks off the lights and starts to settle into bed. You follow his lead, because if there is one thing Riddle Rosehearts can do is be a commanding presence even in satin pjs.
He turns on his side, staring at you from across a reasonable gap given the fact that you were currently sharing a bed. A really big one at that but a bed regardless.
And then continues to stare as a questionable silence occurs.
“Do you always go to bed this early?” You blurt out before you can think any better of it. The awkwardness was just asking to be broken.
“This is early?” Riddle’s eyebrows raise in surprise. “I’ve always gone to bed at this hour, even as a child.”
You can just vaguely make out the light of the still setting sun from the window behind you.
“Well, I mean, what time do you normally get up?”
“6 am.”
“Oh,” well. Maybe he’ll let you sleep in, enjoy the luxury of a non-lumpy bed while you still can.
“You seem apprehensive.” Riddle fiddles with the blanket in his hands where it rests right below his chin. You try and shoo the imagery of a small child being tucked in out of your brain.
Thank god his unique magic didn’t have to do with reading minds, otherwise you’d be thrown to the streets with a collar as a parting gift.
Speaking of collars and lack there of, today had marked a month since Riddle’s “big summer blowout” as you have codenamed it as. And what started as a “1 month of sobriety” joke by Ace turned into an actual celebration by Cater. So, naturally, you dragged yourself along and helped yourself to Trey’s mouthwatering pastries. But then one thing led to another and somehow you were roped into playing a Twisted Wonderland version of Monopoly that led to Grim melting all the plastic house pieces in a fit of firey tantrum to then being forced to fix them by Riddle in an impromptu magic lesson/lecture and—
Yeah, so a lot happened. And next thing you know, you’re being surveilled watched by Trey as you meticulously brush your teeth along to his direction… for some reason? Turns out Ace wasn’t spewing complete lies about Trey’s “fetish” for teeth. You wouldn’t call it that, personally. It was more like a… slightly uncomfortable passion.
But anyway, here you are. Sleeping over at Heartslabyul because Riddle had insisted you and Grim stay the night since by the time you had realized, it was past curfew. Though, surprisingly, Riddle insisted that you share his bed. And Grim, still more than a little apprehensive about the Dormhead, scampered off to sleep with the other freshmen. Cramped dorm rooms be damned.
“Prefect?”
You shake yourself from your thoughts, realizing you had left Riddle hanging for your answer.
“No, no. I’m just… difficult to get up in the morning.” You settle on saying, fiddling with the comforter much like Riddle was.
“Oh, well you can’t be worse than Ace. He’d sleep the entire day away if I allowed it.”
You can see that familiar spark of disapproval flare up behind his eyes and you instinctively tense up. Though as quick as it was there, it fizzles out. Reminding you that yes, this was Riddle, but not the same one that nearly decapitated you with a rose bush.
This is the one that you saw break down in tears on the Heartslabyul lawn after treating it like a playground sandbox. The one that nearly did it again—the crying part, not the sandbox bit—as he pulled you aside and apologized for nearly killing you.
You remind yourself that as you decide to take a small leap of faith with your next words.
“I was also sort of hoping to sleep in tomorrow.”
“Oh,” is all he says. Which isn’t terrible, but not exactly good either.
“Since, you know. It’ll be Sunday. And, you know, still the weekend so. Good to get caught up on sleep while you can… you know.”
He’s analyzing what you’ve said, you can tell by the way his eyes get wide and concentrated. Oh, he’s biting his lip now. That means he’s actually considering your thoughts. He’s thinking, he’s about to speak—
“Alright.”
“…Alright?”
“Yes, alright.” He seems to solidify his answer with a nod. “Let’s sleep in.”
Those words settle in your chest like the sweetest relief.
“Brilliant idea, Riddle!” You can feel the excitement as it grows in your chest. So much so you reach over and grasp his hand, shaking it in emphasis. “You won’t regret this, I tell you.”
“You’re acting like I’ve just done something revolutionary.” He titters, cheeks pink from the unexpected contact as you basically start shaking his hand like an eager businessman after a hard won deal.
“How many times have you slept in before?”
He opens his mouth to respond, ponders, and then slowly shuts it.
“See! So it's basically revolutionary. Why do you think we threw you a party?"
"Oh, and that's another thing." He seems to remember something at the mention of the party. "The fact that Ace and Cater kept congratulating me on my '1 month of sobriety' is pure nonsense. I've never had a lick of alcohol my whole life, so why would I be sober if I never got not sober to begin with?"
As he rambled, you could see his confusion slowly shifting towards indignance. His cheeks were beginning to flush, eyebrows knitting together. His fingers were clenching and unclenching in the sheets pulled over his body.
He looks at you now with pursed lips, bordering on pouty, waiting for a reply.
"...Well, it's a, um..." You stop yourself from saying joke. If you wanted Riddle to not possibly get offended, you'd need to overexplain as much as he can overthink. "It's supposed to be ironic. As in like, 'haha get it? Riddle would never get drunk and therefore sobriety makes no sense and therefore is funny!' kind of ironic."
You subconsciously ended up avoiding eye contact throughout your entire explanation. And also leaving out the comparison of his... "moments" with alcoholism, since you didn't think that would go over very well. So when you finish and decide to just bite the bullet and look, his expression is one of... disappointment?
"Oh," he says, simply and softly. "I see, I guess that... makes sense."
...Maybe you should explain the comparison. "If you need me to elaborate, I can."
"No," he quickly responds with a shake of the head. "That won't be necessary. Your explanation was more than enough."
His eyes are trained on a loose piece of thread near the edge of his pillow yet it's like he's staring straight through it.
"Is there... something else then that's on your mind?"
"I guess I am just... realizing a few things about myself. Especially in regards to these past few months. All those times when I overheard a student comment that I 'couldn't take a joke' were, in essence, correct."
"What?" Talk about a topic shift. "Wait, hold on a second, where did this come from?"
"From just now, actually." He begins picking at the thread he's been zoning out on. "I mean, you saw me. I almost talked myself into a tizzy over, what? A harmless phrase that had no intention of demeaning my character? That ended up turning into a party meant to congratulate me?"
"Well, I mean, there is an underlying comparison between your 'tizzy' moments and alcoholism so—"
"Ace was right."
You blink, momentarily wondering if the person laying across from you is actually Riddle or not.
"How?" You don't bother with hiding your incredulousness, too confused to sugarcoat.
"When he said that everyone around me only panders to my behavior." He huffs, a small humorless laugh filled with self deprecation. "I, all that time, was just silencing thoughts and behavior that I viewed as wrong even though it would've been right. It's no wonder some of the freshman are still hesitant with me. Why it feels like everyone is walking around eggshells when they talk to me."
"Even you, Prefect." He looks... small, truly like a child. Curled into himself like he wishes to disappear from sight. Blinking rapidly like he's trying not to cry. "Even you do it. You let me do what I want, you're never 100% honest with me, and you justify my responses. Like just now."
You open your mouth to rebuttal, but he shakes his head, smiling sadly.
"Don't bother, I can give you examples. Asking me if we could sleep in, expecting me to disagree. Only half explaining the meaning to me since it'd be directly referencing my anger. Which you have yet to actually name for what it is, not once."
You... hadn't even realized you were doing that. It was all just, natural. Instinctive.
"I can... I'm not the most perceptive but, I can tell when you tense up, Prefect."
He meets your gaze, and that's when you process the tension in your shoulders. You had been tensing them, for who knows how long.
"I don't blame you," he speaks before you can begin to try and say anything in response. "Not after everything I did, not after I overblotted and nearly got us all killed."
He looks defeated as he turns over to lie on his back, staring up at the canopy of his bed.
"Ace and all of them were right, I'm just a baby tyrant."
The two of you lapse into silence, you with nothing to say and him having said it all. You don't know how long you stare at his profile for, just scraping the recesses of your brain for the words to say. But eventually, you decide "fuck it" and just let him have it. Like he deserves.
"So you're a bit of a control freak." His head snaps to you but you force yourself to ignore it, barreling onwards. "Scratch that, you ARE a control freak. Can you blame yourself? What with that shitty mom you have, I'd be surprised if you didn't turn out some form of fucked up."
"My mother is—"
"Nope," you abruptly hold a finger up right to his face. "None of that, I'm talking. You want the truth so I'm giving you the truth. Your mom sucks, severely. She basically made you into the baby tyrant that you are. And we, as friends and as your dormmates, have perpetuated that attitude. Thereby continuing the cycle of tyranny until when someone eventually called you out on it, you exploded."
All that momentary fight dies out the more you went on. Every new statement was like a lash across his face. Now he refuses to look at you, too disappointed to meet your gaze. Eyes glossy with unshed tears.
You cross the invisible wall between you two and reach out, grabbing his hand once again in yours.
"But that doesn't mean you can't change." You squeeze his hand, whether to reassure yourself or him is beyond even you. "The fact that you're acknowledging your behavior is proof enough that you're on your way to fixing it. But even then, healing isn't linear. If you take a few steps back, just get back on it again. It's going to be a while but there's nothing you can do about that except let it happen and be patient. Don't let every reminder of your faults be a dissuasion, let it be a motivator to keep going."
You take a moment to breathe, but also to gauge his reaction. Wide eyed and staring at you in wonderment, Riddle lays unmoving. Nothing but the dim impression of street lights outside to illuminate his form in the darkness of his bedroom. Looking at you and only you.
"I'll do better," you tell him, resolute. "I'll hold you accountable. I'll remind myself more to say what I mean, or even call you out on your shit if I need to. And if not me then someone else will, especially Ace. Consequences be damned with him."
He's lying once more on his side, mirroring you like before. His fingers have since found their place around your hand, holding it in kind. His grip tightens with the lull in your speech. You don't know whether it was intentionally or not but it's enough to encourage you to let that last little thought out.
"And for what it's worth, I think you're doing as good a job as any, Riddle."
Silence settles in, him with nothing to say and you having said it all. Well, almost having said it all.
"So," you pipe up before those tears you can see in his eyes decide to fall. "I think this call for a concluding hug, what do you say?"
So, so many emotions fly across his face as you hold open your arms as best you can while lying on a bed. Eventually, what he settles on doing is laughing. Watery and in disbelief, Riddle laughs and leans forwards into your arms.
"Honestly," he chides without an ounce of real intent as he presses his face into your shoulder. "That's how you decide to end your thoughts?"
"I don't see you doing any better, Mr. 'I'm just a baby tyrant.'"
A month ago, that response would've gotten you a one way ticket to collar town. But tonight, he only laughs and holds you tighter.
"Touché, Prefect." He leans back enough that you're able to watch as a smile spreads across his face, unabashed and bright like the sun.
It's one of the firsts of its kind that you've ever seen on his face. You hope you can keep producing more just like it.

some time travel shenanigans
Eddie thought the hardest part about time travel would be convincing everyone of that fact. Turned out he didn't need to do much convincing. Perhaps that was due in part to the fact that he was only from a few years ahead and thus didn't look too different from the version of himself lying comatose in the hospital.
His hair was just a bit longer and he had a beard now. But everything else was about the same.
No, the real struggle was holding back certain truths of the future. Of course, many of them had questions and the more logical ones reasoned that they shouldn't know anything unless absolutely necessary. So thankfully Eddie was spared from a constant barrage of questions. But even that wasn't the hard part.
The biggest challenge, the most difficult part of being here, was having to pretend that he wasn't head over heels in love with Steve.
To have to watch him from across the room and not be able to kiss, him, to embrace him, not even being able to hold his hand. And it cut him every time their gazes met. There was a question in Steve's eyes that he longed to answer.
The first night he spent in the past, Eddie could only think of his Stevie. How easily he'd been allowed to touch him in his own time. But he couldn't now. He had to wait. In a few days his younger self would wake up and the near-death experience would give him the guts to tell Steve that he was gay.
And then a few days after that, he'd reveal that he had a crush on someone. And then about a week after that, he would find Steve about to kiss another man and find the nerve to cut in between and confess.
Now that Eddie thought about it, he guessed he had to thank the guy who tried putting the moves on Steve. Having his feelings out in the open had made him feel more confident, stronger. And that passion helped aid in defeating Vecna's second coming. Eddie almost wished he knew who the guy was.
--------------------
Everything had been going just as Eddie remembered it. The Harrington house had become the base of operations, even when Steve's parents returned. The military set up too and while they helped stem the demodog population, they did very little to help with Vecna.
His younger self woke up, injuries healed thanks to the bat venom now coursing through his veins. His return came with a message from Vecna. One that was a riddle that Eddie already knew the answer to.
"I can tell you what he's planning and how to counter. But some of you won't like it."
"Um, hey, who the fuck are you?"
Both Eddies stared each other down and it was so quiet you could hear a cotton ball drop.
"Who was supposed to tell present-Eddie about future-Eddie?", Robin asked.
"I'm sorry, who!?", Eddie exclaimed.
"You from the future, try to keep up", Dustin said.
Eddie's eyes were glued to his so called future self. And then only tore away when he caught a movement on the side. Steve shifting his balance. Steve.
"Okay, if you are me from the future, I have some questions."
"Most of which I can't answer. Especially that one."
"So you're useless then."
"Give him a break", Steve said, coming to the older man's defense. "If he told us everything that'd mess with the whole space-time whatever."
"Continuum", about three voices said for him.
"Yeah the whatever."
"...How long has he been here?", Eddie asked, wondering just what his future self, someone who seemed more bold and comfortable in his body, got up to with Steve.
Older Eddie just shook his head and chuckled in a way that reminded him too much of Wayne. "I haven't been here long enough for what you're imagining."
And then things progressed just as he knew they would. He knew his younger self was about to go and tell Steve about his crush. He could recall it happening during a supply run and even remembered that Steve had been wearing a camo jacket with a soft blue shirt underneath.
Seeing them get closer just made him long more for his own Stevie. Was he thinking of him now? Sometimes Eddie met the gaze of Steve from now and wondered if he could see the future they had together.
---------------
Steve knew the other Eddie was hiding something. At first he thought it might be how the venom was effecting Eddie's body. But once present-Eddie woke up, that had been made apparent and he was still acting weird. Steve didn't think it was malicious anymore. But it was definitely something.
Sometimes he caught the other man staring at him. Other times they had to hand things to one another and his touch lingered, like he wanted to touch Steve more. Steve knew yearning when he saw it. He just didn't understand why it was being directed towards him.
He got an opportunity to seek out answers one night. A lot of people were housed at the gym as a shelter after the quakes. But life was more dangerous now and that meant a lot of patrols in a lot of areas. So when someone reported odd noises outside, Steve, future-Eddie, present-Eddie, and a few well armed citizens went to check it out. It was about half a dozen of them in total and they broke off into groups.
Nancy's group was the one to find the thing, kill it, and radio in that everyone should get back inside before it got too late. Steve grabbed older Eddie's wrist, stopping from following orders. They were alone now, having split from the group. There was no better time than now.
"You keep acting weird. Especially around me", Steve said.
"Well someone thinks they're special", Eddie grinned.
There was just a sole light on this corner of the building and it mostly shone on Steve, which was fine by Eddie. He was having a hard time schooling his expressions now that they were alone.
"Something happens to me in the future, doesn't it? Do I die? Is that it?"
"No, no Steve you don't die", Eddie assured him.
"It's not just the way you act. You say my name weird too. Do you really hate it that much? Hate me?"
"No", Eddie bit out, turning his body half away.
"I thought we were really becoming friends. You-he's told me things. Secret things. But the way you're acting now it's like things change between us. I wanna know why. Is it me? Did I do something?"
Eddie heard his voice hitch up and then clear and knew that was how his baby sounded when he wanted to cry but held himself back.
"Stevie, sweetheart, baby", Eddie breathed out and held his face and it felt like a weight lifted from him. Calling him just 'Steve' had felt like walking with dumbbells attached to his ankles.
Steve's shoulders relaxed too, like he had also been carrying a weight. "That's what you call me, then? All that?"
"All that and more, my love." Eddie's voice was hushed, afraid someone or something might overhear.
"So that crush Eddie told me about is...?"
Eddie nodded, eyes closing for a moment, glad that he could at least have this about being apart for so long.
"Then you know how I feel", Steve said.
Eddie's eyes opened and he looked into Steve's. There was that question. One that Eddie longed to answer but he feared it wasn't his to reply to. Not at this time. Not now. And yet....
"Please", Steve whispered, eyes flickering to his lips.
Eddie wasn't strong enough to deny him. Not as a dying man in a drought being offered a drink of water. Just as he was about to give him, he was shoved back. Hard. He saw his own familiar curls and bolted, and odd sense of deja vu hitting him just as hard as the shove.
"Steve!", present-Eddie unknowingly took his older self's place in front of Steve. "I have to tell you something. Something really important and I need you to listen, okay?"
"Eddie?"
"I'm a goddamn idiot. An absolute fool for you and it shouldn't have taken some other guy trying to kiss you for me to get the gumption to tell you but it did and there it is and I...and I..." His expression pinched. "Wait, who was that guy?", he turned slightly to look for him.
Steve touched his cheek and brought his attention back. "It was...it doesn't matter who it was. You're here now."
-----------------------
When Eddie next opened his eyes, it was immediately followed by his Stevie kissing him all over the face. Everything came back to him, as well as new pieces of information.
"Wait, so that guy who was putting the moves on you that night-"
"Was you, yes", Steve confirmed, face splitting with how big he was smiling.
"And you just sat on that for years? Wait, how does that even work, you knew it was me but it couldn't be me until I got back to do the time travel and-"
"Don't think too hard about it, babe", Steve kissed his temple. "Just be grateful something gave you the kick in the pants to do it."

Hello Miss Raven!!
I wanted to ask (but please feel free to dismiss this ask ajdgjags) about some info I have been seeing now that Book 7 is almost finished (maybe there's still a last chapter to tie everything together before Book 8?) about people saying that some characters have 'officially' aged one year.
I cannot play on the JP server and I have yet to reach Book 7, so I am not sure where that information comes from. But by that info, wouldn't that make (for example) the Leech brothers around 18 at the time of the Octavinelle Book or even fully 18 at the beginning of the Scarabia Book? Or even Ace, wouldn't he be already 17 by the beginning of the game, since Riddle is only one month older than him?
Wwwwww this game is messing with my perception of time. What I wonder is if that's referenced in any part of the main story.
I understand it's a very difficult question, so there's no need to answer this if you don't know, but I thought I would still ask since you are so insightful about this game <3 please take care of yourself and thank you if you end up answering this!!
Thank you for your question! It's a busy time right now since everyone's buzzing about the main story update, so I ask that you be patient with me as I comb through the pile of related asks 💦💦 I think there's probably one more book of this main story arc to go! We still have to tackle questions like Crowley's motives, Grim's OB, Yuu going home, the mystery of Mickey, and that May spelldrive/magift tournament against RSA. Book 7 even ended on this "To be Continued", so there's definitely more content to go.
Tumblr media
Silver first mentions that his birthday is still "a little while away" in Cater's dream. In the final book 7 update, we skip forward to his actual birthday (May 15th). Malleus arranges a party on this very day, sending out invites which denote that date:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, at the actual party, Malleus asks, "Today is your 18th birthday, correct?" which Silver confirms.
Tumblr media
Silver's character profile (released at the game's launch) states he is 17 years old. It is the same in both EN and JP.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Based on that, we can assume that all first years are 16, all second years are 17, and all (most) third years are 18 at the start of the school year in September. (UPDATE: Yana confirms in a recent tweet that the ages on everyone's profiles are the ages they are at when Yuu was summoned at the start of the school year.) However, because the main story spans all the way to May 15, several students and even staff would be one year older than what is currently stated in their profiles:
Jamil would be 18 (Sept 12)
Ace would be 17 (Sept 23)
Jack would be 17 (Oct 11)
Trey would be 19 (Oct 25)
Jade and Floyd would be 18 (Nov 5)
Trein would be 59 (Nov 19)
Rook would be 19 (Dec 2)
Idia would be 19 (Dec 18)
Lilia would be one year older than however old he currently is (no exact age on him, but assume 700 + 1) (Jan 1)
Malleus would be 178 (Jan 18; it’s said in Lilia’s dream (March) that he’s turned 178 this year)
Rollo would be 19 (Feb 2)
Cater would be 19 (Feb 4)
Azul would be 18 (Feb 24)
Sam would be 26 (Mar 4)
Sebek would be 17 (Mar 17)
Vil would be 19 (Apr 9)
Ruggie would be 18 (Apr 18)
Crewel would be 33 (Apr 20)
Epel would be 17 (May 6)
And, of course, Silver is now 18 (May 15)
The characters who haven't aged up yet are:
Fellow, still 26 (May 17)
Deuce, still 16 (Jun 3)
Kalim, still 17 (Jun 25)
Leona, still 20 (Jul 27)
Vargas, still 30 (Aug 4)
Ortho, still 16 (Aug 14)
Riddle, still 17 (Aug 24)
Hope that helps!
