to whom it may concern, im on a short break from wax and wane. i've been working on another fic with a friend. it's a much smaller fic, a chatfic, for red vs. blue. once i've got a good bit of that done, i'll be going back to wax and wane. just needed a break after the monster that was last chapter. hoping to get a chapter out by the end of the year. dunno if that is going to happen

i love your pride birds, but i will say that it does make me feel a little sad to see the exclusion of the lesbian flag. :(((
Hi! I'm sorry to make you feel excluded! As I mentioned in the post, the plan was to do more (in fact, the original plan was to post two designs a week during pride month) but I am disabled and have been really struggling to make art (or do much of anything tbh!) for several weeks now.
Unfortunately that meant that the lesbian flag, nonbinary flag, pan flag, and aro flag, all didn't manage to get done. In fact, this ask makes me a little sad because the lesbian flag one was actually next on my list, to the point where I had finished the lineart but not the colouring (for what it's worth, it's a tiel with carnations)
I hope this clears things up a bit - I wasn't actively excluding a flag, it's just been a rough few weeks disability-wise. I hope you had a good pride month, and I hope you feel seen by other lesbian representation! (I also have some other lesbian pride art from previous years!)

ok but i'm so confused about 12.07. what do they even think lucifer is gonna do. he wants a crowd of devoted followers so he gathers them to a rock show to presumably convert them to his satanic religion or whatever. and... i'm not seeing the urgency and dread that the episode is treating this event with. "we have to save the concert-goers" from what? being turned into satanists??? isn't that lucifer's explicit stated goal here??? he's not gonna KILL his converts because then he wouldn't have anyone to worship him. hello that's the whole point of getting new fans to come to the show
"yeah but they don't know lucifer's intentions" but the SHOW ITSELF is treating this concert like some kinda big dangerous thing. this is so messy and there's absolutely no stakes to justify the tonal urgency it's pushing. so i'm just staring at the screen like what are you guys doing

I had a conversation with my mom about commissions--she’s of the opinion that you shouldn’t have to wait super long to get what you paid for. I’m the opposite; I think artists should be able to take as long as they need to finish a commission, and I’m totally cool with waiting for months even for them to get back to me. Surprisingly enough I’m very patient when it comes to commissioning other people lol. Maybe I just think that way bc I’m an artist myself so I totally get the struggle. (And I also take time with my comms too.) My mom is not an artist so she doesn’t really grasp the amount of time and effort it takes, so she expects results immediately. Which like. I get that too? I dunno. What do you all think? Are you the kind of patient person who’s totally chill with an artist taking months to finish your commission? Or do you want it to be done within a reasonable amount of time, like 2-3 weeks?

Just thinking about like a hinge, like a wing and wondered if we could have a tiny preview of tim and dick meeting? As a treat?
Sadly, no, but mostly because that bit hasn't been written yet. 😅
I am physically incapable of writing things in order. So, like, when I estimate I have ~30% of the sequel written, it's not that I have the first third done. It's that I have the opening scene, the ending scene, and then a scatter shot of random paragraphs and bits of dialogue and moments that may or may not make it into the final version, which makes me hesitant to share actual bits. Something that's there and a major plot point right now could be gone in a week.
In the meantime, please enjoy this shitty meme (a companion to this one, if you will) that I made five seconds ago re: the Like a Hinge follow up fic--

best moments from the tim buckley book part 2
1. tim was signed to the same label as the doors and was friends with jim. he liked jim offstage but didnt like him onstage. he thought jim was an embarrassing performer, either drunk or high all the time. tim felt he had no respect for his music and that he didnt take it seriously as a performer. he would walk out of doors live performances sometimes for that reason. his guitarist and others who've performed with tim have said that they never once seen tim give a live performance while intoxicated. i really wish this book revealed tim and jim's interactions but it doesnt. except for their regular conversations abt poetry/literature. like dude, u wrote this book and you were there!!! u were in tim's band and ur not gonna touch on that?? how did tim react when he heard the news that he died? no info on that either like why even mention jim, fool!
2. personally i rly luved reading abt the time tim went on a "america is better than england" rant at a pub in london bc they served him warm beer and he did it all in a southern accent and pretending to be from texas. the bartender punched him and threw him out. hes so stupid, the shit he said was so funny.
3. after getting kicked out from the pub he goes back to the hotel and continues another rant in the lobby about how "english rock musicians stole everything from black american musicians" (he didnt get thrown out or punched this time.)
4. dude was very destructive. crashing his car for fun/driving drunk or on lsd while ppl are riding in the car with him and all, starting fights w/ ppl, getting his friends into legal trouble. troubled boy behavior, u know how it is.
5. linda mccartney supposedly gave tim the clap (this was b4 paul). his guitarist didnt believe him so years later when he ran into her in person he asked her and she completely denied it so idk who's lying here. 🤔 (altho tim did have a rep for lying and if it is a lie, im interested on why he felt the need to, like what did she do to u tim? 👀🍵)
6. tim would put on this sad boy persona around girls bc he liked the attention/affection he got from them. he'd go on about his abusive father and his failed marriage and how he doesnt get to see his son, like his ass didnt move to new york with some bitch named jainie and didnt abandon his wife and son in california w/o hesitation, he was so pathetic! 💀

(Just cuz I know a few people are waiting on me for replies I wanted to let you know, I see you, and I appreciate you ;w; A lot is happening right now and I don’t have the time or energy to get back to anyone, but I reread every message in these dire times and it really goes a long way in raising my spirits. Thank you.)

For the headcanon meme: ♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon for Balthazar please 👀
From here...
I’d say for these purposes studying esoteric religious and arcane lore doesn’t really count as a hobby, although it’s certainly something he’s spent a lot of free time on. Balthazar knows a lot less conventional magical theory than you’d expect for someone who went through a formal apprenticeship (he wasn’t especially good in it and he had a terrible teacher), but he knows a lot of Odd Shit of dubious veracity about a lot of really niche topics and also just a pretty solid sense of the nuance of various faiths.
But more on topic... I’d say that he’s very interested in fashion. Not really in a “creating it” way- he’s never enjoyed picking up finicky skills- but he likes seeing the breadth of styles that exist and appreciating all the history and technique and social statement that goes into clothing and the way the body is presented to the world. Absalom was a great place to be really into clothes and Balthazar loved anticipating new trends and working to be on the forefront of what was happening. And while he didn’t really have the means to be immersed in high society on his own, he had a talent for finding well-situated friends to indulge his tastes. The Stolen Lands are a cultural chasm by comparison. He can’t help but agree with Stefano on that. There’s never anything new going on, and they aren’t well enough connected to see novelty from anywhere else... it’s horrible to feel so out of the loop and small, and frankly a bit stressful with World’s Meanest Teen Lander Lebeda happily making comparisons of his own between the meager barony and the grand traditions of Brevic nobility.
Balthazar does have a very sincere interest in Sharel the tailor’s work. He thinks that Sharel possesses a talent worth fostering and does a lot worth following with silhouette and shape. He’s a desperately needed breath of fresh air and his visits are quite eagerly anticipated- something Balthazar would even confess if asked about it.
As for quirks... it feels like there are too many of those to list. It’s an odd thing to be placed alongside hobbies to me, so I feel like I’m missing something as well ^^;; To pick something at random, he hates sitting anywhere he can’t see the doors to a room. If he gets seated somewhere he doesn’t have a good view of them he’ll always move his chair or slowly drift to a better position. It just makes him antsy not being able to tell who’s in a room. Really, he wants to be able to glance around and see everyone from wherever he is... On a related note, even though his study has pretty large, nice windows, his desk faces away from them because they’re opposite the door. The poor architect who worked so hard to highlight the view could never have accounted for some jumpy bastard being more interested in the entrance to the room...

I saw Barbie last night, I dont think i have a long film review of it for yall but idk I'll put some thoughts under a readmore I guess?
-Right off the bat, I enjoyed it, it was fun. It was a fun pink poppy romp. Thats about what I expected of it, and thats pretty much what I got
-Its not particularly radical in its gender/feminism takes, its very basic, which, I saw a number of ppl mention that before I saw it so I wasnt expecting anything radical. It couldve done better. it was. fine. im shrug about it i guess.
-My mom enjoyed it and was apparently not expecting any sort of emotional depth or story at all so it caught her off guard. I heard her crying. she cries easy at movies. I'm glad my mom liked it. Maybe she'll absorb some of the very basic feminism it drops idk.
-I knew the Kens adopted patriarchy and introduced it to Barbieland but it felt lile that happened very fast, idk.
-The ending....I. is her going to a gynecologist supposed to be like. shes gotten a vagina by deciding to be human?? or is she trying to schedule a surgery or something? that felt pretty weird to me if im honest, i thought it was gonna be a job interview or smth... Especially with how everyone was like "Barbie is ace (heheeh i agree) cos she has no genitals! (sorry what. excuse me. wanna run that by me again?)" like okay that makes that headcanon reasoning even more dewply uncomfortable that it already was?
-I enjoyed weird Barbie. i wish theyd cast someone else cos iirc ka/te mckin/non was a transmisogynist? unless she apologized or said she changed her mind on the topic since like 2017?? but i havent seen anything? idk. just. annoying to keep platforming these ppl. i guess theres probably other actors involved that have shit views of trans ppl. whatever i guess.
-I did dress up a little. i feel like my outfit had Weird Barbie Vibes. maybe ill post a pic.
-I did enjoy it and it had a number of shots and or transitions i liked, i think the one with the disco ball to the moon or whatever was enjoyable.
-god we really are so weird about barbie
-it just feels factually incorrect that all dolls pre barbie were baby dolls? idk. im sure it was the most common kind. but idk. not to be weird about The History Of Dolls but like. the porcelain dolls from the Victorian era. idk if those count as baby dolls. iirc those were to help young girls practice prepping dead bodies of loved ones for funerals or smth??? but i guess porcelain dolls have a sort of babyish look about them. and are fragile so you cant play rough with them.
-Like i Know its a 2hr long toy commercial for mattel but also god that cant be right. even if they werent filling the same niche as barbie as idk basically a fashion doll? there had to be other dolls right?
-I know the flat foot thing is Supposed to be over the top and silly for them all to get upset about but also tbh. as a bitch with falling arches the way some of yall make jokes about flat feet still is uh. well. rude. but also lmao man. the day my arches started hurting for no reason while i was barefoot did sorta feel emotionally like her feet falling to the ground lol.
-i want to introduce barbie to margot robbie's harley quinn owo. i think that would be Fun :3
-i want Ken's job. how do i do Beach as an occupation.
-I actually liked how they handled Ken and Barbie's rship til the end. i feel weird about that ending overall and also it feels weak wrt her dynamic as Ken. they make him grapple w her not reciprocating his feelings the same way but then she just leaves barbieland anyway?? and ig they dont get to explore a friendship or qpr dynamic. ok. its fine i guess.
-her saying she has no genitalia felt so transgender in a way im not sure it was intended to. ken saying he has all of the genitalia felt even more transgender. headcanoning them both as extremely transgender in fun weird new ways and no one can stop me.
-Allan is my favorite character i think. bro me too
-bibbleless movie. add bibble.

Me using humor to disguise the fact that I am telling them how to do it correctly because customers can get so defensive if I point out they don’t know how to use their card’s new tap feature, and I kinda have to say something because they will get frustrated and start jousting at the reader with their card, and we just got new card-readers that actually work and I am not about to let someone break my brand-new easy-to-use card-reader just because they don’t want to admit that they have no idea how it works and need to be helped at least once to figure it out: “It’s more of a sit that a tap, haha.”

Moon's Honesty Hour
I'm sure some eagle-eyed readers have realised it's been a few weeks since I've posted new chapters for my two series.
Truth is, I've got burn out. I was abroad and on a trip for about six weeks back to back, and as a neurospicy individual, I've ended up in this super huge slump after the trip :(
so I just wanted to let y'all know what's happening. I don't know when I'll get back to the series but hopefully soon! I love the series so much! Choso and Hanma<3
so please be patient with me, and thank you in advance for waiting.
I love you all, and I can't wait to celebrate 500 followers with you <3

for the past few months, i’ve gone back to a standard 8 hour workday during the week, so i know i haven’t been on too much as of late (thanks to everyone for their patience!). though i don’t always have the energy to write, i do check the dash every few days to see what everyone’s up to and read threads!
unrelated, but it’s been on my mind lately: i just wanted to say i really appreciate everyone who’s shown any interest in fran. kind of unexpectedly, fran has become a pretty important oc to me, and i think about her a lot even if i’m not actively writing (my emotional support oc lmao), so i really appreciate anyone who’s ever said a kind word, taken the time to write with me, or even just followed this blog quietly (other than the p0rnbot girlies who i assume are just here to shoot their shot with me and my huge muscles).
so... yeah! thanks!!
