College advice??
Never skip any readings and never use AI.
Think about it in this way if the temptation ever arises: most likely, you (not necessarily you, Anon—the general, collective "you" applies throughout) will be paying for your tuition and you don't want a machine to rob you blind of the chance to do the intellectual labor yourself. After all, would you give your education to someone else? No, right? So, an unthinking machine that produces hackneyed clichés of all things has absolutely no right to it either.
If that is not convincing enough, think of this instead:
Past generations never relied on AI or the "easy" way out (which results in less learning), so do you want to be worse off than them? Do you want to be "inferior" and less accomplished? No!
(If you "must" cheat, at least try to learn your lesson or something from the experience. Better yet, do not cheat at all! If you have, you've shortchanged yourself and have dented your integrity/self-image.)
Or, to put it even more extremely: do you want to represent the (probable) decline in academic performance as time goes on? Become a statistic? No. Right?
No one should want to be viewed as part of "those kids" whose literacy and writing skills have dropped, to the point that professors complain they have to teach/reinforce the basics before they even get to the target-level material you've paid for or earned your way to. Wouldn't you feel guilty if your professors complained about that, a problem which never before existed in their time? If you're not a part of the problem, you can at the very least separate yourself and feel like you're in a better position than those classmates who do use AI or who pad their papers with meaningless fluff.
Thus, the pressure isn't on, per se, but you don't want to become representative of the stupid side of humanity—and I imagine no one would want to if they could prevent it and have to sense to think for themselves.
Please, do yourself a favor by just trying, revising, and asking questions. It's not that hard.
And now, argument the third:
Would you trust a professional who only graduated because they relied on AI and are, in reality, incompetent? There's no telling what could go wrong and God forbid they were a medical student who should have failed who's operating on you.
Feel free to ask any questions.

Have a nice day.#AI can have ethical uses (in the sciences) but writing student papers ISN'T one of them.#The point of student papers is not for them to be masterpieces.#They serve as practice so you can learn how to participate in academic discourse and write.

"I asked ChatGPT-" Why not just Google it? And not read the Gemini AI summary at the top but just... actually Google it. Just like... learn the information that you want to know instead of having to have the robot put it all in a neat little wrapper for you like you're a helpless child.
Like seriously every time someone tells me they ChatGPT-ed something it just makes me think of how we have all the information we could ever want at our fingertips to read and absorb and think about at all times, but they have to have the robot chew it up for them and vomit it out. Sometimes it isn't even right. What if you just Googled whatever you need to know, click on a link to go and read an article or something, and maybe you'll learn even more than you bargained for! But no, you want the AI to waste a gallon of water trying to compute whatever you said and then regurgitate whatever you would find through a simple search anyway.

STUDENTS! RESEARCHERS!
I got a lil tricky trick for you;
You can use chatgpt to write highly specific database/library search strings. I realise not everyone is good at this skill so having a tool do it for you can be really beneficial for big literature reviews et cetera.
Try it sometime!

i dont care if its mean, if you use AI on your college homework you don't deserve your spot. you should lose your scholarships, your research position, your TA job. you should get kicked out. the air you fill would be better served by another student who's willing to actually use their fucking brain. if you can't even get through your freshman classes without chatGPT, you will never make it in your field and you deserve to be kicked out.

Blackstone Surges to Record High: A Closer Look at Their Impressive Q3 Results
Blackstone, the world's largest commercial property owner, achieved a remarkable milestone on Thursday as its shares surged to a record high. This impressive performance comes on the heels of better-than-expected third-quarter results and an improved real estate investment performance. Let’s dive into the factors driving this success and what it means for the market.
Key Highlights from Q3
In the third quarter, Blackstone invested or committed a staggering $54 billion, marking the highest amount in over two years. This surge in investment activity is attributed to the Federal Reserve’s recent rate cut in September, which significantly reduced the cost of capital. The U.S. central bank’s previous rate hikes had stymied real estate deals and financing, leading to increased defaults in the office market affected by corporate cost-cutting and the rise of hybrid and remote work.
Stephen Schwarzman, Blackstone’s Chief Executive, emphasized the positive impact of the rate cut, stating, “Easing the cost of the capital will be very positive for Blackstone’s asset values. It will be a catalyst for transaction activity.” This sentiment was echoed by Jonathan Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer, who noted that while commercial real estate sentiment is improving, it remains cautious.
Strategic Investments and Areas of Focus
Blackstone has been proactive in planting the “seeds of future value” by substantially increasing its pace of investment. A key area of focus is the revolutionary advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and the associated digital and energy infrastructure. In September, Blackstone announced the $16 billion purchase of AirTrunk, the largest data center operator in the Asia-Pacific region. This acquisition is part of Blackstone’s $70 billion investment in data centers, with over $100 billion in prospective pipeline development.
Other notable investment themes include renewable energy transition, private credit, and India’s emergence as a major economy. These strategic areas highlight Blackstone’s commitment to innovation and growth.
Recovery in Commercial Real Estate
The Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT), a benchmark for the industry, reported a 93% slump in investor stock redemption requests from a peak. This indicates a recovery in investor confidence and a shift towards positive net inflows of capital. BREIT’s core-plus real estate investments, which include stable, income-generating, high-quality real estate, showed a 0.5% decline in Q3 performance, an improvement from a 3.8% drop over the past 12 months. The riskier opportunistic real estate investments posted a 1.1% increase, reversing previous declines.
Student Housing and Data Centers
Among rental housing, student housing has emerged as a significant focus. Wesley LePatner, set to become BREIT CEO on Jan. 1, highlighted the structural undersupply in the U.S. student housing market, emphasizing its potential as an all-weather asset class. BREIT has consistently met investor redemption requests for several months, showcasing strong performance.
Furthermore, the demand for data centers remains robust. QTS, which Blackstone took private in 2021, recorded more leasing activity last year than the preceding three years combined. Such sectors, once considered niche, are now integral to the commercial real estate landscape.
Financial Performance and Outlook
Blackstone’s third-quarter net income soared to approximately $1.56 billion, up from $920.7 million a year earlier. Distributable earnings, profit available to shareholders, rose to $1.28 billion from $1.21 billion. Total assets under management jumped 10% to about $1.11 trillion, driven by inflows to its credit and insurance segment.
The Path Forward
As Blackstone continues to navigate the evolving market landscape, it remains focused on identifying “interesting places to deploy capital.” With a robust investment strategy and a keen eye on emerging trends, Blackstone is well-positioned for future growth.

Mindless consumption and AI
Ok, so I am a computer science student and an artist, and quite frankly, I hate AI. I think it is just encouraging the mindless consumption of content rather than the creation of art and things that we enjoy. People are trying to replace human-created art with AI art, and quite frankly, that really is just a head-scratcher. The definition of art from Oxford Languages is as follows: “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” The key phrase here is “human creative skill”; art is inherently a human trait. I think it is cool that we are trying to teach machines how to make art; however, can we really call it art based on the definition we see above? About two years ago, I wrote a piece for my school about AI and art (I might post it; who knows?), where I argued that AI art is not real art.
Now, what about code? As a computer science student, I kind of like AI in the sense that it can overlook my code and tell me what is wrong with it, as well as how to improve it. It can also suggest sources for a research paper and check my spelling (which is really bad; I used it for this). Now, AI can also MAKE code, and let me tell you, my classmates abuse this like crazy. Teachers and TAs are working overtime to look through all the code that students submit to find AI-generated code (I was one of them), and I’ll be honest, it’s really easy to find!
People think that coding is a very rigid discipline, and yes, you do have to be analytical and logical to come up with code that works; however, you also have to be creative. You have to be creative to solve the problems that you are given, and just like with art, AI can’t be creative. Sure, it can solve simple tasks like making an array that takes in characters and reverses the order to print the output. But it can’t solve far more complex problems, and when students try to use it to find solutions, it breaks. The programs that it generates just don’t work and/or it makes up some nonsense.
And as more AI content fills the landscape, it’s just getting shittier and shittier. Now, how does the mindless consumption of content relate to this? You see, I personally think it has a lot to do with it. We have been consuming information and content for a long time, but the amount of content that exists in this world is greater than ever before, and AI “content” is just adding to this junkyard. No longer are people trying to understand the many techniques of art and develop their own styles (this applies to all art forms, such as visual art, writing, filmmaking, etc.). People will simply just enter a prompt into Midjourney and BOOM, you have multiple “art pieces” in different styles (which were stolen from real artists), and you can keep regenerating until you get what you want. You don’t have to do the hard work of learning how to draw, developing an art style, and doing it until you get it right. You can “create” something quickly for instant gratification; you can post it, and someone will look at it. Maybe they will leave a like on it; they might even keep scrolling and see more and more AI art, therefore leading to mindless consumption.
