Spider speaking Na'vi

I finally found the correct written version of what Spider keeps saying to the Ta'unui Olo'eyktan and Tsahik, which is 'oeru txoa livu'.

Obviously the subtitles tell us that this means 'I'm sorry', however I was researching it (as you do) and the most basic way of actually saying sorry in Na'vi is just 'tsap'alute si' (I apologise).

The words Spider chooses are closer in meaning to 'may there be forgiveness for me'. (txoa = forgiveness)

Like- I LOVE THIS BOY sm he wasn't just saying I'm sorry, he was acknowledging that the crime was so heinous he was asking for mercy from Eywa at the same time 😭 What does this tell us about the depths of his love for the People and for Eywa 😭

He switches back to English as he sees the pain and devastation that the raid as caused the Ta'unui, and I think it's because words are just failing him - he's tried so hard to convey how much sorrow he has, but after exhausting the most meaningful words he can think of, he can just flounder with the English 'I'm sorry', knowing it will never be enough anyway.

it’s baffling to me that no one missed or mentioned spider after he was kidnapped. not once. no “i wonder if he’s okay”, “hope he’s alright”, “wish spider was here to see all of this”. norm? max? no one asked about spider’s whereabouts or wondered? nope, the kid was straightout forgotten. jake asked if kiri missed spider once and that was it. and it’s more shocking that it’s apparently been months.

you’d think they don’t care at that point, excluding perhaps kiri and lo’ak. but you know who did? quaritch. he’s the one who stopped the scientists for further torturing him. he’s the one who kept him around instead of locking him in some room. he’s the one who presumably saved his life, assuming neytiri would’ve killed him.

“but he’s a murderer, spider saw what he did and he caused neteyam’s death!” “the sully is suppose to be his family, he betrayed them!” and yet, quaritch is the one who have apparently shown more parental affection than all of the adults around him combined. which makes it all the more tragic and conflicting for spider, doesn’t it? he probably hates it too, to have such a horrible person care for you, apparently more so than the people you want to save.

he is loyal to na’vi, but it just doesn’t help that the enemy they hate displayed more affection than jake and neytiri, does it?

today was much like any old day waking up and going to get supplies for food up until you spot neteyam doing the same thing which was quite strange but you didn’t think any thing of it and minded your own business. Man why won't my brain let me be involved in multiple fandoms at once. Like rn I am consumed by the Star Wars brain bugs, specifically The Bad Batch and The Clone Wars. Called Jake “Mr. Silly” for the first 3 years of his life; That’s his name on all medical files, now. Mo’at calls him that when he’s being an idiot.

Often wondered through the jungle by himself. Max and Norm were often too engrossed in their work to notice the little bundle of energy and sunshine was gone, and that’s how Jake appointed himself as babysitter.

Pretended not to know trivial information just to have Spider explain it to him, and pretended to be impressed/shocked all the time. “Ikrans can fly?! No way!” “Pandora has stars at night? I didn’t know that!”

Contrary to popular belief, — Na’vi kids and teens love Spider; They play chase, hide and seek, make sure he doesn’t fall off trees, and give him jelly fish snacks when they see him.

After all, they can smell their Toruk Makto on him; It only makes sense.

All these gifts are taken straight to Neytiri. That baby is obsessed with her. He’s so shy and red cheeks and hides behind Jake’s legs when he hands her these presents.

To her frustration, it’s very adorable.

“Tiri? I brought you bebbies.”

She takes a very slow breath. “Berries.”

“And fishies.”

Someone get Jake a box of tissues that man is CRYING constantly. On his hands and knees begging Neytiri to let him keep Spider around. He’s so CUTE.

Made a shifty if not janky bow for himself. The string is too loose, the arrowheads are choppy, the wood too skinny. Neytiri takes it upon herself to fix it.

Fiercely protective Jake.

No, honestly, just turn yourself over to the RDA if you upset Spider in anyway. They’d be worlds kinder than him. Jake “try me bitch” Sully wouldn’t lay down belly up if his baby’s threatened

if people’s argument is that, the sully family never adopted spider and they’re not really obliged to save or care for him, then why are yall surprised by the fact that spider decided to save the one person who did show affection and care, something no adult provided him with?

he’s such an interesting character, his upbringings and choices are questionable and intriguing. the conflict isn’t just that, “oh he’s going to be a villain bc he saved the bad guy who did bad things”, it’s that spider hates that he saved him, it’s that the genocidal colonizer decided to show affection for this kid who no adult cared.
