🇦🇺 ☠️ 🚨 CELEBRATED JOURNALIST AND JULIAN ASSANGE BACKER, JOHN PILGER DEAD AT 84

The celebrated Australian journalist and public backer of Julian Assange, John Richard Pilger died at age 84 today.

Pilger was a strong critic of American and Western Foreign Policy, and became well known as a strong backer of Julian Assange in his fight against U.S. and British imprisonment.

Pilger was known for his books, films and articles informing multiple generations on several critical issues such as the U.S. wars in Vietnam, Iraq and the U.S.'s aggressive moves towards China in his documentary, "The Coming War with China."

Pilger was a winner of a multitude of awards over his life, including the British Journalist of the Year twice, and was also awarded the Consortium News's Gary Webb Freedom of the Press Award.

In recent years, Pilger was a strong anti-Imperialist and anti-colonialist who became banned in Western Mainstream media and would only appear alternative and independent media.

Why Helen is so dearly beloved by me is because of how fiercely she tries to change the world through her fresh ideas for journalistic storytelling. She would've been bitterly disappointed by how the Caroline Gibson story she had fought tirelessly for ended up being received and twisted. But her thirst for getting these marginalised stories out there wasn't quenched yet, and so she bravely fronted that protest crowd and presented herself calmly and openly; seeking further stories in the crowd to spin the situation of the media storm positively on its head. Helen is able to keep a clear head in times of tension and her leadership capacities shine. She is a natural-born leader and role model to her colleagues by not only coming up with ideas, but actually following through on them.

She well and truly tried so hard to compassionately and genuinely get Adam and Russ’ story on air, to break barriers and change societal perceptions of HIV and AIDS sufferers; using her platform and influence for good. It is such a shame that Geoff sabotaged all this with his unfair and cruel comments on air. 💔
