I absolutely adore the headcanon (it’s basically canon) that all elves aren’t weird, it’s just Legolas that’s Like That. So Gimli ends up having a skewed impression on what elves are really like because Legolas is just a bit… odd /affectionate

But then he meets other elves on his journey so he assumes that it must be the wood elves that are different

Then gimli finally meets the wood elves of Mirkwood and he’s very surprised bcs they do have their quirks and are quite different than the other elves but Legolas still seems to be the outlier so he assumes that it must be because Thranduil raised him that way.

Then he meets Thranduil and he realizes nope. It’s just Legolas. But gimli likes his quirks so it’s okay.

Turns out it’s autism.

i always really loved the scene in the fellowship where legolas realises mid-council that gollum having escaped is Really Bad, Actually, it's one of my favourite moments in the book. stoic movie legolas is fun but nothing beats an elven prince jumping up to confess his people's massive fuck-up to the smartest and best of middle earth

I majorly HC book-version-Sam as being autistic for many reasons, and wanted to explore the stubborn, devotional relentless love that can be seen in autistic-love through Frodo n Sam <3

Last but not least in my countdown of favorite Two Towers scenes is Sam's speech to Frodo in Osgiliath. A scene that isn't really in the books, but that embodies and enhances the spirit of Tolkien beautifully. It's a perfect, comforting resolution to Frodo's moment of complete despair earlier, and accompanies perfectly the simultaneous moments of triumph at Isengard and at Helm's Deep. And I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this, but it's also a scene I turn to when I find myself sad and despondent at the state of the world. A true testament to Sam's role as a support and a rock, not just for Frodo, but for the readers and viewers as well.

LORD OF THE RINGS FANS I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

Hi I know nothing about lord of the rings and I'm sending a gift to my friend who loves Lord of the rings in like, the autistic way. I want to decorate her card and box with symbols and drawings that are lord of the rings themed. I would Google but I don't want to make a mistake and put like everyone's least favorite character or the most boring unmemorable place from the series on the card.
