A Very Merry Parent Trap /./ [Simber + Opalou]
@ber-bonfamille-lyons, @lou-bonfightme
"I’ll get the door!” Simba announced to no one in particular, considering Berlioz was the only other one home. Ashlee was out with friends, which was why they’d chosen this night in particular to have everyone over. Didn’t want to stress her out when this (inevitably - Berlioz’s negativity) potentially blew up.
Simba didn’t think it was going to. It was going to go well! He was determined for it to. Because the holidays were about family (according to Ber) and this was the perfect opportunity to get everyone together and fix everything (according to the Hallmark movies Simba had been binging.)
“Hey!” Simba beamed as he opened the door. “Woah,” he blurted a second later, unable to help himself. He had figured that it’d be weird to see her, but that didn’t even come close. She looked so much like Belle had at her age it was a little uncanny. Kind of cool. Simba was jealous. He wished he had a daughter that had come back in time to say hi to him.
“Hi Oncle Simba!” Opal chirped.
Well, he supposed he would take a niece.
Immediately, Opal sank down to pet the dogs, rubbing all of them on the head. “Aw, hey old man!” she said to Bowie, kissing him on the nose.
“Hey,” Simba said, shaking Lou’s hand as he came through the door. “You can put the presents under the tree.”
“Is there one for me?” Opal asked, popping up and gliding towards Simba. She popped up on her toes for a hug, which Simba obliged, still kind of feeling some weird sense of deja vu.
“Course there is one for you, sorry if it’s not great--short notice and all that.”
“I’m sure it’s great, where is Oncle Berlioz?”
“In the kitchen.”
“Great.” Opal headed in that direction without having to be told where it was.

Takes Place: November 30, 2035

"Maman! I can’t find my phone,” Aidan called, bounding down the stairs, skipping the last two.
“Well, I don’t know where it is,” Belle huffed, already feeling slightly harried by the whole ordeal. She at the back door, letting Shuck out for a few minutes before they had to pile into the car.
“I can’t go to the zoo without it.” Aidan had appeared at her shoulder, pouting.
“Maybe you shouldn’t have lost it.”
“Maman.”
“It’s not my responsibility to keep an eye on your phone, Aidan. I pay the bills for it. I have done my part. If you’ve lost it--”
“It’s here,” Bellamy, who was standing near the couch in the other room said. He lifted the phone from where it had been between the couch cushions and put his own phone down from his ear.
Belle smiled at him and then looked at Aidan, the smile dropping off. “Satisfied?”
Aidan scowled but stomped back through the house and grabbed his phone from his brother, checking him with his shoulder as he did it. Belle rolled her eyes slightly and whistled for Shuck. The demon bounded happily back into the house and trotted to his spot by the fireplace.
Belle checked her watch.
“Train is leaving soon,” Bellamy said softly when he caught her.
“We’re not taking the train,” she told him, going to grab her purse off the counter, pulling it over her shoulder.
Just as she said it--there was a knock at the door.
Shuck barked, deep and then growled.
“Shuck, stop it, honestly.” Belle shook her head at the hound and then moved towards the front door, opening it to reveal Kristoff. “Just on time,” she told him, letting out a little, relieved breath.
“Oh--great,” Aidan groaned behind her, flopping onto the couch.

Your Ancient History, Written In Wax
-
Danny knew he should have put better security around the Sarcophagus of Eternal Sleep. It wasn’t even Vlad who opened it this time! The fruitloop was too busy doing his actual mayor duties because for some godforsaken reason, the man got re-elected.
No, it wasn’t Vlad. And it wasn’t Fright Knight, either. Nor the Observants. Who opened the Sarcophagus, then? Danny didn’t have time to find out as Pariah Dark promptly tore open a hole in reality and hunting Danny down.
The battle was longer this time. He didn’t have the Ecto-Skeleton, as that was the first thing Pariah had destroyed. The halfa had grown a lot over the past few years, and learned some new tricks, but apparently sleeping in a magic ghost box meant that Pariah had absorbed a lot of power. The bigger ghost acted like a one-man army!
Amity Park was caught in the middle of the battle, but the residents made sure it went no further than that. Vlad and the Fentons made a barrier around the town to keep the destruction from leaking. Sam, Tucker, and Dani did crowd control while Danny faced the king head-on.
Their battle shook the Zone and pulled them wildly between the mortal plane and the afterlife. Sometimes, residents noticed a blow from Pariah transported them to the age of the dinosaurs, and Phantom’s Wail brought them to an unknown future. Then they were in a desert. Then a blazing forest. Then underwater. It went on like that, but no one dared step foot outside of Amity. They couldn’t risk being left behind.
It took ages to beat him, but eventually, Danny stood above the old ghost king, encasing his symbols of power in ice so they couldn’t be used again. He refused to claim the title for himself. Tired as he was, Danny handed the objects off to Clockwork for safe keeping and started repairing the damage Pariah had done to the town. The tear he’d made was too big to fix, for now, so no one bothered. They just welcomed their new ghostly neighbors with open arms and worked together to restore Amity Park.
Finally, the day came to bring down the barrier. People were gathered around the giant device the Fentons had built to sustain it. Danny had brought Clockwork to Amity, to double check that they had returned to the right time and dimension.
Clockwork assured everyone that they were in the right spot, and only a small amount of time had passed, so the Fentons gave the signal to drop the shield.
Very quickly did they discover that something was wrong. The air smelled different. The noise of the nearby city, Elmerton, was louder and more chaotic. Something was there that wasn’t before, and it put everyone on edge.
Clockwork smiled, made a remark about the town fitting in better than before, and disappearing before Danny could catch him.
Frantic, Danny had a few of his ghost buds stay behind to protect the town while he investigated.
He flew far and wide, steadily growing horrified at the changes the world had undergone. Heroes, villains, rampant crime and alien invasions. The Earth was unrecognizable. There were people moving around the stars like it was second nature and others raising dead gods like the apocalypse was coming. Magic and ectoplasm was everywhere, rather than following the ley lines like they were supposed to.
Danny returned to Amity.
The fight with Pariah had taken them through space and time. Somewhere along the way, they had changed the course of history so badly that this now felt like an alien world.
How was he supposed to fix this?

In the Watchtower, The Flash was wrapping up monitor duty while Impulse buzzed around him, a little more jittery than usual. The boy was talking a mile a minute, when alarms started blaring an alarming green. Flash had never seen this alarm before, and its crackling whine was grating on his ears.
Flash returned to the monitor, frantically clicking around to find the issue, but nothing was popping up. No major disasters, no invasions, no declarations of war. Nothing! What was causing the alarm?
Impulse swore and zipped to a window, pressing his face against it and staring down at Earth. “Fuck! It’s today isn’t it? I forgot!”
“What’s today?” Flash asked. He shot off a text to Batman, asking if it was an error. The big Bat said it wasn’t, and that he would be there soon.
“The arrival of Amity Park. I learned about this in school; the alarm always gives me headaches.”
Flash turned to his grandson, getting his attention. “Bart,” he stressed. “What are you talking about?”
Impulse barely glanced over his shoulder. Now that Flash was facing him, he could see a strong glow coming from Earth. “The first villain, first anti-villain, and the first hero,” he said anxiously. “They all protect the town of the original metas. They’re all here.”
“Here? Now??”
“Yeah? They weren’t before, but they are now. The first hero said there was time stuff involved, which was what inspired me to start practicing time travel in the first place.”
“I’m not following.”
“It’s okay. We should probably go welcome them before they tear apart Illinois, though. The history I remember says that some of them freaked and destroyed a chunk of the Midwest during a fight with each other.”
“WHAT?”

sometimes I see David Tennant's face in Doctor Who as he monologues about time travel/immortality/the eternal loneliness and I go...that's him. that's my rotten lil guy. my wretched wreck of a dude. wreckage in humanoid form. the lonely divine corrupted by himself forgiven by himself made by himself made by his companions made by the universe. horrible and horrifying and far too human and not human enough. the worst thing to ever happen to so many (Martha, Adelaide, Astrid, everyone else who flashed through that whole montage thanks to Davros). a corrupter. a corruption. a cleansing. a man carved out of grief and love and pathos and hatred and grudges and forgiveness who can only make the worst decisions with the best, most selfish of intentions. a man who loved until he lost everything. a man, more than any other doctor, who should never be left alone, and yet he dies alone, with the shortest regeneration speech of any doctor. desperately lonely, desperately tragic, a disaster of a man who is too careless with everything and everyone around him.
And yet I care about him so much, because he is also the man who at the end of it all, after he lost everyone and everything he held dear, after he lost rose and donna and sarah jane and jack and martha and mickey left him and he was more alone than he's ever been, he does the right thing. the kind thing. he stops the time lords from descending on the earth. he once again gives up his people because he understands that the Time Lords Victorious cannot and should not ever be the way to go. he steps in and he saves wilfred mott. he lets himself become the doctor once again. he doesn't want to go, but instead of taking that one final step into godhood, he gives his next self a chance at being a better doctor than he ever could be.

My hottest take of all time is that Mike is (was) the main character of Stranger Things.
Now, do I think he still is? No. Not really.
TBH I would argue that ALL the OG's are main characters in their own way at this point, with them all getting somewhat similar amounts of screen-time across the board by s4.
But if we're talking about the first two seasons, Finn was indeed credited before both Millie and Noah. The only actors that were credited before him were Winona and David (respectfully).
Just rewatching s1-2, you can see very clearly that Mike is being framed as the main character, with his perspective being favored in big group sequences, with us following him places that we don't really follow others, and for longer periods of time.
What I find interesting, is that even though Noah revealed recently that the Duffer's have been slowly building up/hinting at Will's feelings for Mike since the beginning, it's Mike whose perspective we were usually seeing in all those moments.
In s1, we see Mike looking for Will, with Noah only having like a handful of scenes that entire season. We also get more of a focus on Mike's reactions in comparison to the other party members.
In s2, we see Mike making every effort to support Will all season. It's Mike whose reaching out to Will constantly, calling to see why he's not at school, going by his house, sleeping over for days and staying by his bedside at Hawkins lab. Although Will arguably plays a bigger role in the upside down aspect of the show this season, a large portion of Mike and Will moments focused on Mike's feelings for Will being shared through Mike's POV, and not so much the other way around.
It isn't until s3 that Millie starts being credited before Finn (and respectfully so, as she was arguably bringing in more hype in terms of fandom excitement back in those days, so I do get it). And so we're arguably going from Mike centric (s1), to Will centric (s2), to El centric (s3).
As a result, we also started seeing less of Mike's POV. Though, to be fair there are 10+ new characters joining every season, so EVERYONE is getting less screen-time, every season.
But isn't it so convenient, that when we start getting less insight into Mike's POV, he starts acting strange...? And we don't really get outright answers as to why? Answers that we would probably have if we had Mike's POV as much as we used to?
S3 is when we started getting Will's POV more when it came to him and Mike's relationship. Their dynamic sort of flips between s1-2 vs. s3-4.
Not to say we never get Mike's POV anymore, but when we do, it's hard to discern and so most people overlook it completely on the rare occasion that it does pop up.
Anyways, this whole concept reminded me of the main character shots we got at the end of s4.
These were shots that had multiple characters in the frame, but with only (1) person specifically at the forefront...
YALL KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS???
Arguably, these three main characters storyline's are tied together in a substantial way, and how it all plays out could have been foreshadowed, by the very order and even blocking of these shots.
Think about it.!?!.
Mike was arguably the main character of s1, which means getting his POV at the forefront again would be going back to the shows roots.
Will is arguably the main character of s2, and so blending Mike's arc (ending with Mike hugging Hopper hmmmmmm... Mike accepting his sexuality??) with Will's unreliable narrator arc being resolved (ending with Will and Mike side by side hmmmmmmm... Will getting the boy??), and this combined with Will's connection to the upside down, blending perfectly with his wonder twin, El's storyline (El walking passed Mike and Will.... El dumping his ass again??), with her now at the forefront as the main character, arguably just like in s3, except now she has full autonomy for the first time in the show, she knows her worth, she's accepted herself. And this all coming to a head with those three and everyone in the shows arcs being resolved by the end??
BITCH???

An Echo in the Bone *** [Howelle feat Hades + the Acheron Twins]
@oh-heartlessman, @trip-downtheriverstyx
Belle had never once been nervous about Howl performing magic. They had done so many things for her over the years: from magic bath bombs to freeing Hades from powerful magic, to conducting her wedding to healing her wounds. She had always put her trust in Howl’s incredibly well-lotioned hands. There was no sorcerer she trusted more.
However, she was incredibly apprehensive about all of this. Firstly, because the boys would need to be involved and as eager as they were to help (it was the whole reason they were here) Belle was protective of them. She wanted to keep them safe. The drive to do so was nearly overpowering. It was also conflicting, considering she had no idea what actually was going to keep them safe. They had toyed with dangerous magic and there wasn’t anything she could do.
And, only slightly secondary: this whole endeavor was to find out what had been so horrible, so terrible, so unfixable, that the children had all thought it best to go back in time to try to fix it. She was, if this worked, going to see how she messed everything up. (The way Opal had looked at her, specifically, meant she knew this was her fault.)
She sitting between her two too-tall sons on the couch, fiddling with her wedding ring. Aidan was quietly trying to convince Calcifer to give him a high five, while Bellamy was watching her. She could feel him doing it. He did it a lot. Belle wasn’t sure what he was trying to find.
“How is all of this going to work then?” she asked as cups of tea floated towards all three of them through the air. She took hers grateful and sipped it, hoping the warmth would calm her nerves.

A Family of Ghosts || [Self para]
In which Toulouse, Belle, and the children struggle to pick up the pieces after Hades descends into the Underworld…[takes place: January 2026 through May 2032]
@labellerose-acheron, @trip-downtheriverstyx
companion to: Til Death Do Us Part
[tw – the end of this (starting at MAY 2032), deals with death and suicide (no description, mentioned only), please be careful and if you want a summary, feel free to ask. the rest is safe to read!]
|| || || || || || || || ||
Toulouse let himself into the still Acheron cottage.
“Belle?” he murmured quietly into the darkness, reaching down to pat at Shuck’s shoulder as the dog sniffed his shoes. For a moment, he stood and listened, heart beating frantically in his own chest. He had only received a simple text: I need you.
So, here he was. With no context. No hesitation.
First, he heard the ticking of the clocks in the living room, their cacophony almost drowning out everything else, until he took a breath and listened. There was a creak of floorboards upstairs.
Then, crying.
He took the stairs two at a time.
“Belle?” he called, a little louder, a little more frantic.

You think part of the reason why Phoenix didn't contest the whole forged evidence fiasco that got him disbarred was because he still hadn't reconciled his feelings about what he did during BttT? This bit:
Phoenix: (So I guess it's all over... The way everything ended... Was justice really served...? The man who risked his life to save Maya is being sent to prison by my own hand...)
Like, maybe the idea that he was "as good out there as any defense lawyer could ever hope to be", as Mia puts it, but it only left him feeling hollow sprung a sort of disillusionment with the courts that culminated in him being framed and just... accepting it. Because if justice meant letting a good man be jailed (or executed if you want the awful version of events), if he couldn't even trust in his own hand to bring justice to his clients and cases, then what's the point of it?
I don't know. I think it would have been nice to see him figure this one out.

day 71 of asking why reddit has suddenly become convinced that the 'finn and mat's rhuidean trip are a waste of time and easily cut, and that season 3 will obviously feature him splitting off from the friends he just reunited with in order to spend the entire season dicking around with thom and getting into shenanigans, as that is much more important to his overall character arc than his 2-book waste arc
like there have been SO MANY posts like this lately and all of them are filled with comments of universal agreement! am i having a stroke? what the hell is going on???? i'll admit mat doesn't have a huge amount of specific stuff to do in the waste aside from rhuidean, but rhuidean is crucial to his character and s2 had Mat-Finn Connection Foreshadowing out the wazoo, plus the waste plotline is MUCH more fertile ground for creating additional Specific Mat Stuff and enhancing his character development & relationships with other main characters than his TDR plotline of dicking around with thom is.
