being a university instructor is actually really hard bc I want nothing more than to be nice and accommodating and understanding with my students, but like. baby I can lead a horse to water but I can't make it drink!!
#my class grades are essentially effort based too#im not grading students on the 'goodness' of their writing but rather marking their assignments complete or incomplete#based on if they followed the proper format of the assignment#and then i give feedback and give all students an opportunity to revise and resubmit for a complete grade#and final course grades are based on grading contracts so students decide what grade they wanna work towards#and then complete the assignments associated with that grade#and honestly i am very lax with my grading and feedback#the only way to fail this course is to turn nothing in#but like a fifth or sixth of my class is failing rn bc they havent turned anything in despite me trying to work with them#and it's like. i feel bad but having them email me NOW with less than 2 wks left of the semester asking how they can pass the class#is infuriating tbh!!#listen im just one person with my own life and my own struggles and my own classes to deal with#ive tried all semester to help you#'how can i pass your class??'#baby youre not gonna#i know most of my students are first semester college freshmen#but its like youre an adult learn how to take care of your shit#ive tried holding your hand throughout the entire semester to get you to pass#and youve rejected it#you made your bed you better lie in it

the school-bound kingscholar || leona kingscholar
masterlist characters: Mwezi Miji Trio (OCs), Leona, Ruggie (platonic) genre: Angst contains: (Brief) Swearing, Possible OOC moments (depending on how you view Leona and Ruggie [mainly Leona]) summary: Following the admittance of Night Raven College's newest freshmen, both Kingscholars begin to come to terms with the newest changes in their lives. notes: I AM SO SORRY FOR DISAPPEARING AGAIN OTZ. Unfortunately, my lapses of writer's block and demotivation have only increased since I last posted. I'm trying to get back into the hang of posting things (as evident by my art account suddenly coming alive again). ALSO! As you can tell by the formatting, I'm actually writing with proper grammar on Tumblr now! Right now, I don't plan to go back to reformat the older chapters, but maybe once I find the drive to do it, I will! Thank you, everyone, for being so patient with me, I really appreciate it <3 parts: [og post] | [previous] | [next]
Leona felt something knock the air out of his lungs. To Ruggie, who stood right beside him in a robe that was a few inches too long, it was hilarious. Seeing the very prince (well, second prince) of the Afterglow Savanna lose his composure was enough to make Ruggie let out a quiet "Shyeheehee" under his breath before he ultimately straightened his posture under Leona's pointed glare.
Nothing could have prepared Leona to see (Name) again. Honestly, he had long since come to terms with the fact that his little sibling was missing, lost to the Outlands and likely a rotting corpse in the middle of nowhere.
He's lying, he could never come to terms with that, no matter how much he deluded himself.
But they were here. They were here and they were walking closer and they looked exactly the same as he remembered them.
Well, obviously, not exactly. But they looked so familiar and yet so different at the same time. Leona didn't even notice the tip of his tail swishing behind him until he heard one of his dorm members complaining about a tickling sensation against his ankles. And that only caused Leona to grumble under his breath and snatch the base of his tail to stop it from moving.
By the Seven, had they changed. They seemed bolder and more confident compared to the last time he had seen them. The way their shoulders were no longer hunched forward and instead rolled back in a pride strut he wished he could attribute to someone who had come to accept their own status or the way their eyes seemed sharper rather than soft and wide with innocence. And their hands. By the gods, what happened to their hands...? No, they had changed severely, akin to the way Leona recalled seeing the royal guards before and after their training.
Something had happened, that much he could figure out. And as much as he wanted to advance the board, reach out, and capture them like a king in a game of chess, he couldn't. Not when they were surrounded by a queen and two rooks.
"Ignore him," Nuru advised, although his words were more of a formality if anything. He knew how well you could handle yourself, but this was a unique situation.
"I know," you replied curtly, flipping your hood back on and sidling up to Nuru's right side. Jabori immediately flanked your other side in turn, followed by Jabali. It was a familiar formation, one that the four of you had cultivated for as long as you could remember.
"It doesn't hurt as much as I thought it would," you whisper. However, the sharp pain lingering in your chest said otherwise.
Student after student soon began trickling out of each coffin, repeating the painstaking process of standing in front of the mirror, listening to its spiel about their innermost workings, before joining whatever dorm they were assigned to. Until finally, finally--
"We're done with orientation and dorm assignments?" One of the hooded figures lamented, his hand perched prim and properly on his hip. If you didn't any better, you'd assume that he was royalty or nobility. But, judging from his scent alone, he wasn't.
"Well, that ceremony was as boring as ever," Leona yawned, covering his mouth with his sleeve as he turned on his heels, facing the mass of hooded figures now under his care. "I'm going back to the dorm. If you're in Savanaclaw House, follow me."
He went to take a step amidst the other chattering dorm leaders before the doors slammed open, the handles banging against the wall from the force at which it swung. Leona groaned in response, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Psst, Nuru," Jabali called from his spot beside Jabori, leaning forward to actually see him. "Are you sure this is the right place? We're actually supposed to find answers from..."
Jabali paused and motioned out towards the commotion now terrorizing the mirror chamber. The little gray cat scampered around the floor, setting fire to whatever he could in some strange show of physical prowess and magical ability. "...These people?!"
Nuru said nothing at first. From where you stood beside him, you could tell doubt was beginning to creep up behind him. Lucky for him, Jabori decided to take the lead.
"This is Night Raven College," he points out, pulling back the hood of his robe by a hair to peer over at his twin. "Pretty much everyone here, especially the dorm leaders, are adept at some kind of magic. I mean, look."
This time, Jabori pointed towards the commotion, his finger following the way that the redhead shot a spell in the cat's direction, materializing a red and black collar around its neck.
"It's the best shot we have," he concludes, nodding in support of Nuru. That single gesture instantly calmed Nuru down, his shoulders no longer hunched up and his wings relaxing behind him. You merely smiled and patted his forearm in response. Jabali, on the other hand, grumbled under his breath and crossed his arms in begrudging compliance.
"Fine. But I'm not gonna get along with 'em or nothin'," Jabali huffed, rolling his eyes. Jabori laughed lightly at his brother's annoyance while Nuru let out a single huff of air.
"I wasn't gonna ask you too, either," Nuru hummed, glancing at Jabali from his peripheral. "Same goes for both of you, (Name), Jabori."
"Copy that," you nodded, the quiet chuckle that seemed to bubble from your throat disappearing the second Leona turned to face you and the rest of the new Savanaclaw members.
"You heard the headmage. I'm headin' back," Leona grumbled and, without missing a beat, brushed past the crowd and headed towards the door. Another hooded figure, one who had been standing beside Leona the entire ceremony, let out an exasperated sigh before raising his hand.
"Savanaclaw! Follow me," he ordered, earning a few half-hearted "Yes, sir"s from the rest of the huddled crowd.
You had to admit, it was pretty entertaining watching Jabali and Jabori marvel at the size of the campus halls. And Nuru too, if only he'd have more obvious reactions rather than just a single flick of a wing or a tilt of the head.
While the halls were nothing compared to the Kingscholar home, it was still pretty big. If you were any smaller than you were now, you'd probably react the same way.
"No way they need these doors to be this big," Jabali murmured, lightly elbowing your arm and pointing at one of the classroom doors. Your eyes followed his finger and a snicker managed to escape you. He wasn't wrong, those doors were freakishly huge, both in height and width.
Jabali went to comment on something else before he stopped, his eyes drifting over toward the new mirror chamber everyone had been led to. The doors were held open to accommodate the crowd, letting handfuls of students walk towards a mirror and get sucked into it, the glass rippling as if took wisps of bodies and left nothing in its wake.
"Savanaclaw House! This'll be your only way in and out of the dorm," the same hooded figure that led you all here called out. He had hopped up onto the lip of the mirror's decoration, using one of the rib-like sculptures as an armrest.
"Hurry up and get in! The faster you do, the faster you'll get to claim your rooms," he snickered before skipping ahead of the first dorm member and hopping into the mirror.
The prospect of first come first served seemed to spur on the first years, causing a near stampede of people trying to get into the mirror first. Nuru hooked an arm around your waist while Jabali did the same with Jabori, the two of them finding a single break in the crowd to get away, Nuru through flight, and Jabali through scaling one of the pillars by the wall.
Lucky for the four of you, the mirror seemed to accommodate more and more people as the crowd diminished. Perhaps through how many bodies reached a specific threshold, you thought. Regardless of the magical mechanics, it allowed Nuru and Jabali to let you and Jabori down after a few minutes.
"So many people," you grumbled under your breath, earning a quiet chuckle from Jabori. Nuru and Jabali nodded at your observation before the four of you hopped into the mirror yourselves.
Immediately, the four of you felt the familiar searing heat of the sun beating down on your skin. It almost felt like home if not for the increased heat coming from the fire serving as lights just outside the dorm's entrance.
Jabali and Nuru were the first to shrug off their robes, the former because he finally had enough of the stuffy fabric, and the latter because the heat was already starting to congregate around his feathers. You and Jabori followed suit, although the two of you merely hiked up your sleeves and flipped down your hoods.
Nuru shook out his wings and let out a soft grunt, one of his feathers falling into the sand beneath your feet. Turning to look over his shoulder, he shot the three of you a soft, almost comforting smile.
"Off we go, then," he hums, waving for you all to follow. If it were anyone else, you three probably would've found offense to a command as expectant as that. But it wasn't just anyone else. It was Nuru, the Guardian, and your dear friend.
The inside of Savanclaw was nothing really to marvel at like the rest of the school's campus. It wasn't cramped, per se, but it was quite a bit more tight than to your liking. Luckily, the walkway opened up the building quite a bit with the roped bridges connecting each floor.
Nuru scanned the room for a moment before his eyes landed on a room on the top floor, tucked all the way in the furthest corner. You figured everyone else left it since it was so far and their mentalities were focusing on that first come first served promise your leader from before declared.
Nuru unfurled his wings and shot up past the bridges, making a beeline towards the unoccupied room. He didn't have to go that fast, of course, considering only a few students were lingering in the walkways who sure as hell weren't planning on making the long walk up there.
Jabali seemed to share their sentiment considering his frustrated "Damn it, Nuru" muttered under his breath. A long, drawn-out sigh escaped his lips before he trudged up along the nearest bridge, his hands shoved in his pockets and his robe slung haphazardly over his shoulder.
You and Jabori took a more relaxed walk up behind him, appreciating the familiar decorations that reminded you of your hometown. Of course, that appreciation turned into apprehension at the thought of Mwezi Miji now being unguarded by the main four.
What if something happened? What if they had sent word of an all-out war between themselves and the Dens and you hadn't heard of it since you all were knocked out in coffins? What if they were all already--
"On your right," Nuru called to you from the doorway, his hand shooting out to grab your shoulder. Ah, you had gotten distracted. Nuru shot you a concerned glance, his brows furrowed in the same way they always were when you got stuck in your head before he ushered you into the room.
Jabali and Jabori had already claimed their beds on the left side of the room, Jabali near the door and Jabori near the window. This left the entire right side open for you and Nuru.
The winged beastman glanced over at you, patiently waiting for your next move. You caught his glance and mustered up a small smile before heading towards the bed closest to the door. Nuru subtly lit up at your decision, a little skip in his step as he moved towards the window.
You managed to hold back a snort at his hidden excitement. He always loved the window spot. Maybe it reminded him of when he was small enough to fit through them back home.
"So, what's up with you and that new first year, huh?" Ruggie huffed as he walked straight into Leona's room, leaning down to pick up a discarded shirt and dropping it in the laundry basket. "I've never seen you react that way other than with them."
"Watch your words, Ruggie," Leona growls from the bed, his head already buried in his pillow. His back was facing Ruggie who still stood in the doorway, but with the way his ears were perked up, it was fairly obvious that he wasn't even close to sleeping.
"My bad," Ruggie snicked in response, holding up his hands defensively. "But, seriously, who was that? Someone I need to watch the pockets of? I mean, who else would it be if not roy--"
"Out," Leona demanded, his hand latching onto his pillow and launching it backward at Ruggie, the soft fabric turning into dust and scattering across the floor as he muttered the incantation under his breath. Ruggie yelped and scampered out of the room, throwing the door closed behind him before he could see the pillow disintegrate into sand.
Leona took a single breath through his nose before slowly sitting up. He rubbed at his face before reaching over to the desk placed beside his bed, his fingers curling around the drawer's handle and pulling it open.
Underneath notebooks thrown carelessly inside lay a single photograph. It was small, yet free of any creases. He lifted the books off of it before slipping the photo out, nearly cradling it in his palm.
Back when he first found the photo tucked neatly in one of his notebooks, he grimaced. It was an annoying keepsake, one that only served to remind him of the bothersome family waiting for him back home. But now...
Now the sight of his little sibling smiling ever so brightly while his older brother screamed in the background about a bug in his hair brought the smallest twitch of a smile to his lips.

Fear Classes: Complete, and the OSS
And we have it! The chart of Epithetical Smirkian Classes of fear is complete. Behold!
Many thanks to all of you who helped out on this, most recently the contribution of Infinitesimal by @0-peddro. I'm really happy with it, and I hope you may be able to get some use out of it.
However, now that the epithets are complete, I can move onto the main project. The catalogue, and the OSS.
Now, as you all could probably figure out, and archive needs organising. And with something as wishy-washy as the supernatural, thats hard. So, I tried my best to create a solution. Key word, tried.
And well, here it is.
The Oxford Supernatural Serial (OSS)
The OSS, or 'Oxford Style', consists of three elements: Assignment, Manifestation, and Date. This is presented in the bellow form:
XYZ-0-YYYYMMDD
Now, beginning with the assignment. Each entry in the catalogue is assinged a epithet, based on which the manifestation in the entry most closely alignes with. The 24 epithets are listed below:
The Razing (RAZ) - Base violence/destruction
The Slaughter (SLA) - Indisciminant violence
Terminus (TRM) - Death, or life ending
The Extinction (EXT) - The world continuing without 'us'
The Devestation (DVS) - Destruction, usually physical
The Desolation (DES) - Emotional Loss
The Dark (DRK) - Darkness
The Lonely (LNY) - Isolation
The Falling Titan (TTN) - Colossi, huge spaces/structures
Infinitesimal (ITC) - Insignificance
Choke (CHK) - Physical suffocation, crushing
Too Much, Too Close (TCL) - Emotional suffocation
The Crawling Rot (ROT) - Rot, decay
The Hive (HVE) - Insects
The Great Spider (SPI) - Spiders
The Mother of Puppets (PPT) - Powerlessness, lack of control
The Hunt (HNT) - Being chased, followed
The Watcher (WCR) - Being watched
Beholding (BHL) - Being known
The Spiral (SPR) - Impossible spaces
The Stranger (STR) - The uncanny
I Cannot Know (ICK) - Not knowing, being unable to know
Viscera (VSR) - Gore, being 'just meat'
I Am Not My Flesh (NMF) - Dysmorphia, dysphoria
In the event that an occurance can be related to multiple epithets with no clear choice as to which category best suites it, the classification MIX may be used. This classification is to be used in the form of
MIX:UVW:XYZ
with UVW and XYZ being the relevant epithets. For example, an entry with significant presence of rot and dysmorphia could be assigned
MIX:ROT:NMF
This can be extended as much as necessary.
Next, the manifestation. The manifestation of each occurance is the way in which the supernatural interacts with the world/recorder within the entry. This can be organised into one of four categories:
1 - Space/Location
2 - Object
3 - Animal
4 - Human
For example, if the subject of an entry was a cursed amulet, the entry would be assigned a 2.
Finally, date. This is the simplest. The date of an entry is simply the date of the occurance, in the format of date, month, year. For example, an entry for an occurance that took place on the 18th of October, 2018 woul read
20181018
If any part of the date is unknown, it is to be replaced with Xs.
Now, to give the full thing a test. Let us take an entry, taken on the 20th of April, 2025, where a warehouse worker spends weeks wandering the floor of the warehouse, which gradually alters and deforms as they progress through it, could be classified as follows:
SPR-1-20250420
Now this system does leave some room for subjectivity, but I feel it fulfills the aim well enough to serve as a useful classification system.
I'll probably be taking a short break now, before giving the back-log a proper crack, so you won't here much from me for a little bit, but Sara's still hanging about, and August should be back soon, and I'll get him on the computer to say hi to all of you. Until then, bye!

HOW I PERSONALLY ORGANIZE MY DIGITAL ZINE MASTERCOPIES!
Hey zineovators, hello every'all. I am here to note down how I (PERSONALLY) fix around and assign my digitally-made zine mastercopies for easy access. This isn't meant to be a guide and it surely isn't the "correct" way to file zines, nor is this necessary, it might even be redundant for a lot of people, but this is just the way I do it. I have some really crappy guides throughout my yap session, BUT I will provide a REAL example using my own zine at the end! anyhow, let us begin! WHY DO I BOTHER?
because it makes my personal zine creation process more manageable
organization makes it less daunting for me to actually go through with the creation process
It tickles my fish brain to file and sort things, and it makes me happy to do so
so yeah, it all boils down to personal preference. I like making my digital process cleaner and a bit more streamlined, but you really don't have to follow me or use me as a standard. I just do what I do best.
That aside... TERMS I COINED AND WILL BE USING AND EXPLAINING (LIST) (yes this is based off of A/B/O but also coding)
ALPHA Mastercopy (A-Copy, Alpha copy)
BETA Mastercopy (B-Copy, Beta Copy, Physical Mastercopy)
OMEGA Mastercopy (O-Copy, Omega Copy, Assembled Mastercopy)
PRELIMINARIES!
A master copy in my own words is the original mother version of your zine that you can use to duplicate or create more copies for distribution purposes. You usually do not give a master copy away especially if you plan to make more prints of a specific zine design in the future! Also, I'm using the classic 8-page mini-zine format as an example here because...I specialize in mini-zines, lol. With that in mind, here is the portion you are waiting for.
ALPHA MASTER COPY (i.e.. RAW DIGITAL FILE)
The Alpha copy is the version of your zine that you made/scanned into a digital format. Typically I would use a PDF along with the zine design that I pre-formatted for this due to the clarity and easy access of PDF files. I avoid .png or .jpg because flattening my zine files tends to crush the text quality, by a LOT.
The Alpha copy doesn't have to just be the formatted version already. It can be individual panels, single pages, artwork or scanned pages, etc. That's also an alpha copy, but in its own way. The version I'm talking above is print-ready copy that is already prepared.
^ THIS counts as an alpha copy as well.
Now down below is an example of my own alpha copy in PDF format, featuring my DAVID SYLVIAN zine (I'll try to upload it on an archive soon, it will be completely free! Pls tell me in advance if you'd like to reproduce and distribute it irl since I dont want to get sued </3)
btw the tagline "be seen, make a zine" was taken from brattyxbre on YouTube. I would gladly recommend her for zine resources, discussions and zine-related topics, especially if you are a beginner!
BETA MASTER COPY (i.e.. PRINTED TEMPLATE)
Your Beta copy is a version of your zine that is printed on paper with the proper formatting for folding/cutting already. The only difference with this version and omega copy is, well, you DON'T fold or cut this copy.
The primary purpose of a B-Copy is to check:
print quality (text visibility, color vibrance, ink bleeding, etc.)
graphic size and an overview of your zine's general physical appearance.
And the other, marginally vital role of your B-Copy is to serve as:
the physical print that you can use for XEROX (photocopying) or other copying services and tools
scannable output that you can scan/copy for distribution, especially if the person who wants your zine would like to assemble it themselves, if you do not have a final version of your zine on hand to share, or you yourself do not have your A-Copy for reproduction.
A printed copy that you can catalogue or archive, especially if you are the sort of person who retires zines, or are just deeply sentimental (like me, lol!).
Down below is the B-Copy of my example zine. Ignore the fact that this is literally my omega copy that I just dismantled because I don't have my Beta in hand lol. But approximately this is how it looks like.
I personally store B-copies (alongside O-copies) inside a dedicated clearbook or binder to safeguard against weathering or chemical ink deterioration, alongside some information and stuff about the zine itself. This is useful especially if you want to showcase zines and zine content to others, apart from safekeeping purposes.
I might make another longform infodump about digital and physical zine storage and archiving processes (because as an aspiring librarian I feel it is my duty to rant about that) but that will be for another time.
OMEGA MASTER COPY (i.e., FINAL EXAMPLE PRINT)
Okay this is kind-of self explanatory, but I will elaborate regardless.
If you are the sort of person who handcrafts zines (aka make, draw, write or assemble them traditionally) you likely know what the O-Copy is, because your original finished zine is what I am referring to as the Omega copy. That is, the ACTUAL "Master Copy" itself.
Omega Master Copy is what most zinesters and zine creators refer to as just the master copy. But seeing from this post, you KNOW I had to make it fancier (read: unnecessarily complicated)
The Omega copy serves as your first official print, and you can use this version to store or show around. The only difference is, if you end up using my organizing format (good luck!), you'll end up using the O-Copy more as a finished product display to show how it looks when finished as an assembled copy, and the B-Copy as the actual thing you use to reproduce or duplicate your zines for distribution.
Here is the example of my O-copy for my example zine. (again you will be able to access this through an archive soon, maybe I will announce it later on or just post about where I store them digitally.)

I used the software development jargon ALPHA, BETA & OMEGA because it kind of fits(?) lol. I am not a coding aficionado but I know loosely enough to utilize the words. But also, live laugh omegaverse. hopefully this helps(?) but also if you reached to this point, hi. I'm glad you indulged in my little rant. EDIT: here's the Internet Archive Link for the specific zine featured in this post! Have fun! Communicate, create, zineovate! Until next time.

elite trine x elite trine
I'm telling you right now that Starscream is the one getting sparked up, solely because he is such a size queen and demands double penetration every single time the trine faces. Double the spike means double the transfluid, and even though they're all stocked up on contraceptives, eventually having his gestation tank so full bites him in the aft.
Now, the elite trine are old lovers. They've been around a long time. You will never convince me that they didn't have at least one litter of sparklings sometime before Vos fell. Probably more. They all died in the fall. So Starscream knows what this feeling is--the swelling, the nausea, the sudden rampant hunger.
And he's in denial.
He's terrified. This can't be happening! Not now, not again, not here! Not while they're stranded on earth, not while he and Megatron are at their very worst, not when Vosians are on the very brink of extinction and there's less than a hundred of them left! No, no, no! This could not be worse, it really could not be any worse-
There's nine of them.
Starscream screeches in devastation and anger and a million other emotions when he bears his spark before a mirror and there's more than three, more than six, and sure enough seven, eight, nine teeny tiny sparks like little sprinkles of stardust orbiting around his. That's nothing crazy for a seeker, they always have sparklings in threes, but nine! It's just him and his mates--there's the rest of the airforce, of course, but they're not a proper aerie! He can't possibly terminate them, not when Vos's people are one bad battle away from total annihilation, but he can't keep them!
He dusts off some old protocols and tries desperately to put the sparklings into diapause, refusing to breathe a word of their existence to anyone. With their growth frozen he can double his efforts to finish this war and then they can go home and the little ones can be born safely. That's the plan, anyway.
Unfortunately, diapause takes a lot of energy. It has to keep all of the sparklings suspended in what is essentially a cryosleep funded by his own body, for all nine of them, and that's got very serious demands on his frame. Demands that he can't realistically cater to for long. He's very sneaky for awhile and does everything in his power to distract, misdirect, keep anyone from noticing the extra fuel going missing, but it's not long until Soundwave catches him. Recognizes the shift in his EM field and the way he walks, and promptly rats him out to Megatron.
Big boss is far from happy, but is honestly more exasperated than anything. Of course. If anyone was going to get themselves knocked up during wartime, it would be Starscream, wouldn't it? Then, he does something that's worse than anything he's ever done before:
Assigns his SIC to desk work
Starscream is seething! His position as air commander has been handed over to Thundercracker (who's none too pleased about the situation either), and he's been taken off active field duty for the foreseeable future. He's more prone to making mistakes and having lessened reaction time in his "condition", and Megatron wants these new seekerlings born healthy. Which will be kind of hard if their carrier gets himself blown up, so Starscream is stuck at the base devising battle formation strategy and barking at the air force not to get sloppy in his absence.
His two mates are no help either, he'll grumble to anyone that will listen. Skywarp's been following him around like a lovesick puppy and always wants to feel his belly and coo nonsense to his chassis, and no amount of wriggling away will get him to stop. He's so clingy its suffocating, always sneaking cheeky kisses and tummy pats. He thinks Starscream is just more and more adorable the more his belly grows 🤭 and Thundercracker remembers perfectly all the things Starscream likes when he's expecting, exactly what kind or sour snacks and how he likes the cushions for his wings, and also has the dietary supplement table memorized. If he's having 9 bitties they'll each roughly be X amount of weight when 30% grown so he needs to drink at minimum Y number of cubes a day to keep up with their growth demand and-
So on and so forth. Overall, they're excited, but deep down... they're all individually terrified of loss. When Vos was bombed, the seeker population lost 95-98% of it's members. They lost everyone, every parent, aunt, uncle, cousin, and distant relative: it's only by sheer luck that they survived. Their previous litter of bitties was lost then, though they don't know how they died. Every familial bond they had shattered that day and the bodies were never recovered. They don't know if they suffered. They don't know if they were scared. They don't know if it was instant or if it was dragged out and torturous. All they know is the deep, gaping loss left behind by the lost sparkling bonds still ring so painfully and clear-cut it's near debilitating sometimes. They're afraid that the autobots will take these ones away, too: that they'll die at the hands of bigoted grounders that think they don't deserve to live just for being children of the sky. They're so afraid that they won't be able to protect them, and that they'll lose them, too.
It shows in the way Starscream paces and mumbles feverishly to himself at 3 a.m. It shows in the way Skywarp becomes vicious and bloodthirsty on the battlefield, and it shows in the way Thundercracker carefully curls his shaking hands around his mate's belly in the middle of the night when he thinks they're asleep, muffled sobs overlayed with whispered prayers to please, please let this time be different.
When the bitties finally arrive they're in little eggs, 9 perfect little spheres with rubber outer shells and stuffed to the brim with gelatinous filling. Every egg pulses strongly with the force of the infant spark within, and they can see outlines of their children, all curled up in the fetal position and almost ready to hatch. They've already prepared a nest for their eggs, a perfectly warm and secure spot where one of them will always be there to watch them. Mostly Starscream, as the other two have more work to do, but he doesn't mind. He can read and draw up plans while sitting next to them, occasionally reaching to turn them if he thinks one looks cold, and making sure to talk to fill the silence. Sometimes to them, sometimes to himself to narrate what he's doing, just so the sparklings know they aren't alone.
When they start to hatch Skywarp and Thundercracker both get a frantic keysmash text from Starscream falling out of his chair, then another with ITS TIME!!!! followed by a blurry picture of their nest, and one of the eggs has a noticeable hairline fracture in it. Skywarp, bless his spark, is so excited and also very much not thinking straight, grabs Thundercracker's hand and forcibly sprints out of the command center dragging him along. It takes him a full 10 seconds to realize his mate is telling him to, "Just teleport us!"
"...oh yeah!"
They arrive just in time to witness the birth of their first son: a darling little seekerling that's all blue head to toe with a deep gray faceplate and Skywarp's eyes. These babies are tiny, as there are nine of them, they can easily be cradled in their hands. Skywarp moves to pick him up and promptly gets nipped at: Starscream laughs, and lowers his helm to chirp at the little one. Bitty responds in turn, knowing instinctively that this is his carrier, and reaches out both tiny servos to him.
His siblings come quickly after, all range of lovely color combinations: a red and purple one, white and blue, black and white, on and on it goes! They're all beautiful and healthy, and the proud parents give them all names befitting Vosians, as well as a solemn promise: to never, ever let anything hurt them. To love and protect them now, for always, and forever 💖

Imperial Navy (Imperii Stella Classis)
The Imperial Navy is the most recent evolution of the Imperium’s naval forces, having transitioned from the terrestrial-bound Imperial Fleet when humanity finally slipped the bonds of Terra. Originally the Imperial Systems Patrol, the Navy would be nearly annihilated following the outbreak of the 1st Aberinian War in 2387. Going up against a civilization that had been waging war between the stars for nearly 15,000 years, the ISP was easily outclassed, and took horrendous losses during the Imperium’s early defeats.
The Navy would recover under the leadership of Pleb-Praefectus Navis Gaius Manserius and his friend, eventual Lord Admiral Alistair Saint-James. Manserius would win the first victory in Imperial Navy history over Port Avinius. Combined with Herius Victus’ devastating counterattack, he would lead the Navy to eventual victory against the Aberinians, though he would not live to see the end of the war.
Victory brought with it a massive program to redevelop the Navy into a proper fighting force. Taking lessons from the war, and observations from other naval forces around the galaxy as humanity slowly got to know the galactic community, Alistair Saint-James proposed a radical redesign of every single part of the Navy, though he retired from his post only a few weeks after peace was declared. It wouldn’t be until 2403 that Emperor Valerian convinced Saint-James to return to command and oversee the reforms, though it came at the cost of their personal relationship.
The first step was to prepare the Navy for the Imperium’s expansion. Humanity had lucked out, surrounded as Terra was by highly habitable worlds perfect for colonization. Saint-James knew the Imperium as it was would soon be dwarfed, and so he envisioned a modular Navy, one able to respond to expansion organically.
Dividing up Imperial space into the 12 Zona Responsabilitatis, the Zones of Responsibility which would encompass every inch of Imperial space. To each zone, he assigned a Fleet, an independent body which would be given complete control of all military assets inside its Zone, including logistical and manufacturing centers. Each Fleet would be in charge of producing its own ships, training its own officers, and supporting its own operations, while carrying out the orders issued by the Senatorum Humanus and the Admiralty Board. Each Fleet would additionally be assigned a headquarters world, known as FleetCOMs, who would report to the Central Naval Commission based on the Imperium’s military hub, Ravenna. The headquarters worlds are, from 1st Fleet to 12th, Lepcis Magna, Cyprus Cygni, Tremaine (moved to Xhatri in 2680 following Tremaine’s destruction), Couermain’s Landing, Anis Abbasis, Vingimella, Vae Varitus, Magnus’ World, Arrettium, Gaulterius, Xanathos, and Terra itself.
These headquarters worlds are massive nexuses of Imperial naval might, each playing host to huge orbital drydocks and deepspace shipyards, massive gunforts and orbital bastions, and countless Imperial warships. From these worlds, the Fleets dispatch forces as necessary to patrol and maintain their Zones.
Each Fleet is commanded by two Lords Admiral, 24 of which make up the Admiralty Board, the highest station in the Imperial military. Appointment to the board requires the unanimous approval of all 23 sitting members, plus the Emperor, who retains sole civilian oversight over the Board. Each Fleet’s admirals retain overall command of their respective halves of the Fleet, along with attendant shipyards, fortifications, starstations, and planetary outposts.
Fleet organization is broken down similarly to the Imperial Legions, with large formations of set amounts of ships being broken down further as deployments require. Each Fleet numbers 480 ships of the line, with a further 2200 escort vessels, to act as screening ships for the larger capital vessels. Fleets are first broken down into Main Battlegroups, numbering 120 ships in total. These are gargantuan formations, often including the massive, awe-inspiring supercarriers and superdreadnaughts that serve as fleet flagships. Main Battlegroups are almost never deployed in their entirety, but mostly stationed over Fleet capital worlds or important shipyards. The deployment of even a single Main Battlegroup indicates an extreme reaction from the Imperial military, a reaction almost never seen outside of the outbreak of a war. Each Battlegroup is commanded by a Fleet Admiral.
From there, Fleet formations can fluctuate in size, allowing flexibility to respond to threats. The next-largest formation is the Task Force, numbering 20 ships in total. Actual ship composition may change, but these are frontline units and typically include at least one battlecruiser or heavy carrier, although some may even see the deployment of a supercarrier. Typically intended for long range missions, the Commander in charge of each Task Force is given a significant amount of leeway to accomplish their orders.
Sometimes, Fleets require rapid, heavy firepower deployed to a combat zone, which is where the Flotilla, numbering 20 ships also, comes in. Typically spearheaded by a superdreadnaught or squadron of battleships, Flotillas are specialized, heavy duty formations intended to break blockades, smash system fortifications, or overrun frontier raiders with overwhelming force. Led by a Commodore, the Flotilla is becoming increasingly scarce as the Imperium’s need for superheavy warships has lessened following the end of the Unification Wars.
Below the Task Force are the various squadrons, strike groups, and wolfpacks that make up the rest of the Navy’s structure. Typically, units of this size, around 4-10, aren’t deployed on their own, but make up groupings of ship classes inside larger formations. Destroyer wolfpacks are common, used to strip the shielding from enemy capital ships so the heavier guns of the Imperium’s line ships can finish them off. These units are invariably led by a Captain, Third Grade.
Individual ship command is given to the 480 captains that make up each Fleet’s General Officer Corps. While all ranks below Captain are earned through promotion after enlistment, captain candidates must be nominated by a superior officer. Candidates are then sent across the Imperium to the various naval academies and institutes dotting its worlds.
Imperial naval doctrine has changed much from the early days of the ISP. No pretense is made that the Navy can protect every world equally all the time, given the sheer size and scale of the empire. Instead, the Navy doesn’t even try, relying on its ability to detect and rapidly respond to hostile incursions to deploy quick reaction forces from the various Navy garrisons. In the event of full fledged invasions, Imperial strategy calls for a general retreat from the border to regroup at the nearest Fleet world, and launch counterattacks from there. This doctrine means that many an enemy has been fooled into thinking they have the Imperium on the back foot in the early days of a war, causing them to overextend, sending ships straight into the waiting maw of a fully gathered Fleet.
Additionally, the Navy maintains constant patrols into the Imperial frontier. Both humanitarian missions and displays of Imperial power, frontier patrols are expected to provide aid to the tens of thousands of human and alien colony worlds and unaligned systems that make up the frontier, and respond to rogue or hostile forces seeking to pray on vulnerable, independent worlds. Because the Imperium itself no longer sponsors colony missions, newly established worlds do not automatically gain admittance, letting these patrols act as ambassadors of goodwill, or, in the case of strategically important systems, methods of unspoken intimidation, meant to encourage applications for admittance into the Imperium.
Since the end of the 1st Aberinian War, the Imperium has worked hard to develop the Navy, making use of technology reverse engineered from the two remaining alien Harbinger vessels to leapfrog humanity’s military capabilities. This significant investment has paid off massively, and the Navy has never lost a war. Though involved in many conflicts, and becoming victim to several defeating tactical defeats, the Navy has never actually lost a military conflict, with several of its formations, especially the 3rd Fleet, becoming famous even outside of Imperial space for their sheer stubbornness and lethality. Other notable Fleets include the 12th, on permanent loan to the Union of Interstellar States’ peacekeeping forces, the 7th, the only Imperial Fleet to serve under a non-Imperial officer when Benden Voidmaster Fhiras Theth was given command of the Fleet during the Unification Wars, and the 1st Fleet, which has never left the Sol System, stationed on permanent guard duty over humanity’s home.
#the victusverse#next few entries are gonna be a mix of narrative (yall are getting space battles) and in depth stuff on the Navy#specifically ships navy history and role in civilian life

learn to digitizing your embroidey designs

From Sketch to Stitch: A Comprehensive Guide to Digitizing Your Embroidery Designs
The world of embroidery has embraced the digital age, allowing you to transform your own unique designs into stunning stitched masterpieces. But how do you bridge the gap between a simple vector graphic and a complex stitching pattern? This comprehensive guide, crafted with 2500 words, will teach you the art of digitizing your embroidery designs, from software choices to stitch considerations and finishing touches. Before We Embark: Understanding SVGs and Embroidery Files Scalable Vector Graphics (SVGs): These text-based descriptions of images offer infinite scalability, making them perfect for digital design. Embroidery files: These contain specific instructions for your machine, including stitch types, colors, and placement (DST, EXP, JEF, PES formats are common). Step 1: Choosing the Right Software Consider these factors when selecting your digitizing software: Skill Level: Are you a beginner or an experienced digitizer? Some programs cater to novice users, while others offer advanced features. Budget: Free and paid options exist, each with varying capabilities and functionalities. Compatibility: Ensure the software outputs files compatible with your embroidery machine. Here are some popular choices: Free: Inkscape: A free vector graphics editor with the Ink/Stitch plugin for basic digitizing. Sewing & Embroidery Software (SERF): Free software with limited but beginner-friendly digitizing features. Paid: Wilcom Embroidery Studio: Offers powerful tools for advanced digitizing and editing. Embrilliance Enthusiast: User-friendly software with various features at a good price point. Brother PE Design: Ideal for beginners with Brother embroidery machines. Step 2: Preparing Your SVG Simplify the design: Remove unnecessary details or intricate lines that might not translate well to embroidery. Optimize colors: Limit your color palette to what your machine can handle (usually 6-12 colors). Convert to paths: Ensure all elements in your SVG are outlines (paths) for proper stitching. Step 3: Importing and Converting Import your cleaned-up SVG into your chosen software. Follow the software's specific instructions for converting to an embroidery file. This typically involves: Choosing stitch types: Select appropriate stitches for different parts of your design (satin stitch for filling, backstitch for outlines, etc.). Setting stitch parameters: Adjust stitch density, length, and direction for desired effects. Color mapping: Assign thread colors to different parts of your design. Step 4: Digitizing Tweaks and Adjustments Preview and test: Most software allows you to preview your design on a virtual embroidery machine. Check for stitching issues and adjust paths or settings if needed. Refine stitch types and parameters: Experiment with different stitch combinations to achieve the desired look and texture. Consider thread types and colors: Choose thread that complements your fabric and design aesthetic. Step 5: Export and Embroider! Once you're happy with your design, export it in a file format compatible with your embroidery machine. Transfer the file to your machine and prepare your fabric and thread. It's finally time to see your creation come to life! Embroider your design, following your machine's instructions. Bonus Tips for Success: Start simple: Begin with basic shapes and designs to get comfortable with the conversion process. Practice digitizing: The more you experiment, the better you'll understand how different stitches and settings affect your final outcome. Join online communities: Connect with other embroidery enthusiasts for tips, advice, and inspiration. Don't be afraid to ask for help: If you get stuck, consult software manuals, online tutorials, or seek assistance from experienced digitizers. Remember, with a little practice and this guide as your compass, you'll be well on your way to transforming your SVG dreams into beautiful embroidered realities! I've been stalking this account recently after a long pause in watching any randl content and going back in a binge. And i just have to say you truly do make a point on the overwhelming uncomfortable silence that follows anytime the do/ talk about something too "risky". Especially since they encourage the crew to laugh at anything they find funny.
Yep. It feels like the crew catch their breaths for a second there to check how the situation will unfold. There were cases in which they have laughed but it is usually a momentary freezing. Even Stevie. I'm dying to know how much the crew knows. Because at this point there is simply no case they don't know but at the same time I consider it insane for RandL to have let all 100 people of the crew know and yet this still being such a well kept secret. It just can't be. IDK this really baffles me. Perhaps only a certain few know, and those are assigned to gaslight the suspicions of interns and newer crew members...? I just don't know. But people like Stevie, Chase, Kaylin, Jenna, Trevor, Jordan (from Sporked) seem to know...
By the way, something I have never mentioned but always kept in the back of my mind; y'all remember a super important crew member... freaking Ellie? Her last or close to last episode was a quarantine GMM which was about how people can date safely during the pandemic. This episode is the most notorious for Rhett's meltdown due to his bad need to meet with Link...in the same physical space. In this episode Rhett also comes off as pretty sexually frustrated (which doesn't make sense since he still was at home with his wife lol) and Link is angry at him, both for pulling a gross prank on him and for appearing to be only interested in sex. They are kinda at odds with each other in this episode. Ellie is in the middle and as they go on and on with each other, you can see Ellie be a bit like "oooh ok". After that, Ellie was no more. I don't know if they bid her farewell in some format I missed, but there was no proper goodbye in GMM like it happened with equally big GMM members like Jen Matichuk and Alex Punch... Me thinks... her departure wasn't as rosy... and perhaps it was associated to the trainwreck of an episode this was. Ellie was known to be bold sometimes, I wonder if she confronted them openly with the truth or something... I mean, It's wild theorizing based on nearly nothing but I always found this so strange...

focuses on the examination and the evaluation of curriculum applied on the professional education and specifically on the health care support sector. In order to understand the structure and the content of curriculum used in the above sector, it is necessary to refer primarily to the general characteristics of curriculum, the theories developed for curriculum used in various educational contexts as well as the skills required for the appropriate delivery of curriculum in a professional education environment. In accordance with a report published by the Cognitive Behaviour (2008) ‘a social education curriculum has a three-fold purpose: a) to assure that every student is on track through assessment and prevention, b) to assist the proper development through pedagogical study, and c) to remediate inappropriate learning’ (Cognitive Behaviour, 2008, online article). The improvement of educational standards in the health care sector would support the increase of quality of services provided to patients. Therefore, the curriculum used in the specific sector should be carefully reviewed and monitored making sure that all standards set are followed by educators. In the study of Burgess (2004) it is noticed that the curriculum used in the training of social work professionals is not appropriately developed but it rather ‘entails a level of complexity greater than that for many other disciplines’ (Burgess, 2004, 163). On the other hand, it seems that in Britain – like in most developed countries worldwide – the involvement of a person to the health care support is related with specific educational standards: specific qualifications – set by NHS – are required while training is usually provided after the acquisition of qualification – in case that workers in the specific sector need to be informed on the developments of science in the particular field. The design and the development of curriculum in all educational contexts is based on specific criteria. OR TERM ESSAY Confucius once said, “it is not the way that makes the man great, but the man that makes the way great”. vf Your task is to weigh in on this proposition by Confucius. Please identify two figures in United States (Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln) and history who you met through the course video lessons or the text reading during the period from 1607 to 1877 and who you feel made a significant impact on the growth and development of the United States. Walk each through the following guidelines in an essay designed to serve as the writing assignment for this course. Begin your paper with a thesis statement about the individual you will choose with the guidelines below. Entitle this section THESIS. In a section entitled BIOGRPAHICAL SKETCH, provide a summary paragraph identifying your chosen individual. In a section to be entitled CONTRIBUTION, describe three important ways she/he contributed to U.S. history. In a section entitled ANALYSIS, explain why you feel each of the individual’s contributions (3) are important in shaping the course of U.S. history. Finally, in a section entitled, On Confucius, discuss why you agree or disagree with his statement above. Note the Confucius section is the last section of your paper and incorporates your experience from the two individual studies. There is only one Confucius section, not one for each individual Essay must be typed in 12-point font in the double-space format. THESIS – Jefferson Thomas Jefferson was one of the most significant figures in U.S. History. He played a central role in the revolution; however, his most important contribution to the development of the new nation was his work on the Declaration of Independence. Indeed, Jefferson could be described as the most important of the Founding Fathers. BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH – Jefferson Jefferson was born in1743 to a prominent Virginian farming family. Like most children from well-to-do families in the South he was well educated, studying Latin, Greek and eventually Law and philosophy at the College of William and Mary (Whitehouse.org). It is here that Jefferson was introduced to the British Enlightenment thinking of John Locke, Francis Bacon and Newton – three figures who were to have an enormous impact on Jefferson’s own political views (Peterson 1236). ¶ … Systems Healthcare PICO formatted question Does education of the patient and the family in self-care management result in improved health and functional status in adult asthmatics? Conducting the search entered the PubMed data base and determined that the crucial search terms would be the words 'adult asthmatic' (in short, that it was critical to identify the population group and the condition that was of interest) and 'self-care,' as the question of fostering self-care was the primary concern of the question, as opposed to the efficacy of certain treatments or medications. 515 documents without limits were recorded. I clicked on the first link, and found some very helpful and relevant articles, not in this first citation, but in the long, right-hand list of related links. Summarize two relevant studies Immediately, my eye was drawn to the study: "Influence on asthma morbidity of asthma education programs based on self-management plans following treatment optimization." The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an asthma education program on morbidity, knowledge, and compliance with inhaled corticosteroid treatment using a prospective, randomized, controlled, population. Subjects were studied one year before and after the study. Before entering the study, their asthma treatment was optimized by of respirologists. All were assigned to three groups: Group C (the control group that was did not participate in the educational program), Group P (which participated in the educational program for a treatment plan based on peak-flow monitoring), and Group S (education with treatment plan based on monitoring of asthma symptoms). 188 volunteers with moderate to severe asthma were enrolled in the study. 149 completed the study. Asthma morbidity decreased in all three groups. In the two experimental groups, structured asthma education significantly improved short-term compliance with both treatment plans as well as added to the patient's knowledge about asthma, although education did not seem to add an extra benefit with regard to morbidity. Further research was needed, however, according to the study's authors, given that educational intervention may be more beneficial in patients with less optimal care and education to begin with and high-risk factors. Also the study was of relatively short duration. The second study of relevance and interest was an "Evaluation of the efficacy of a hospital-based asthma education program in patients of low socioeconomic status in Hong Kong" This study of adult asthmatics was of interest not simply because of its international scope, but also because it offers a snapshot of medicine in another cultural context, of a relevant socioeconomic group where health education is often lacking, and which is often disproportionately affected by asthma because of environmental conditions. In the study, patients attending an asthma clinic were instructed during a two-hour educational session on asthma, its potential triggers, the appropriate use of medications, proper inhaler techniques, and the self-management of their disease. This study was more dramatic in its findings regarding the improving benefits of education. 230 patients were recruited for the study, and 83% completed the study. The group demonstrated significant improvements in lung function. There were also significant improvements in inhaler technique, asthma knowledge and patient's self-rating of the severity of their asthma symptoms. There were also reductions in the numbers of hospitalizations, visits to family physicians and accident and emergency room attendance during the study period. Patients with moderate to severe asthma were most likely to benefit from the program, thus the study concluded that patient education was beneficial. Defense of Choices These studies are useful, because while both examine educational initiatives targeting adult asthmatic populations, they are profoundly different in their scope. The objective of the first study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an asthma education program in fairly small a non-specific socio-economic demographic, using a prospective, randomized, controlled, one-year-before and one-year-after protocol. It studied morbidity and compliance alone, while the second was larger, focused on a specific demographic and ethnic group in a single area, and tested a wider range of factors. However, both studies indicated the value of self-care educational programs, particularly for patients suffering the lack of education endemic to high-poverty areas. Works Cited Choy D.K., M.
