They are, in fact, devastated. Their sole hope of defeating Sukuna and Kenjaku, just like that, trampled beneath the remains of Prison Realm. It must be a horrid joke of the universe. Their world is just doomed. (Meanwhile Kenjaku is over the moon.)

What is the Zenith jujutsu kaisen world thinking in this Box Swap AU?

Like, they know who Shiki is. They know she's terrifying, frightening, deadly, a sorcerer second only to Gojo Satoru. The rumoured Heir. The child who could kill special grades without collateral damage. The blade of the Honoured One. The holder of eyes similar to the Six Eyes. The Blessed Child.

They would be thrilled to have their blessed child back and ready to stab a few special grade curses.

Imagine going through all that effort of trying to get this Blessed Child out of the box (gods please let's just get shiki out of that seal, they really do need shiki to deal with their problems and she makes everything easier, but main reason is that gojo satoru is fucking insufferable) because while they do have Gojo Satoru, it's just not the same. Also, Shiki doesn't make them pay for collateral damage as much as Satoru does /j

They open the box, with full expectation of getting back Gojo Shiki and putting an end to their suffering of enduring a prissy, passive-aggressive Gojo Satoru whose off his rockers because his cousin is imprisoned (ok, they're all pretty mad too) and to get back one of their trump cards in the battle against Kenjaku and Sukuna.

Instead, they get another Gojo Satoru.

In short, it could be summed up like this:

Canon JJK is horrified they don't get Gojo Satoru.

Zenith JJK is horrified they don't get Gojo Shiki.

I thought it would be funny if both sides are similarly devastated they aren't getting what they wanted.

That's pretty much exactly what's going on in the box swap AU! Canon-Kenjaku is probably over the moon right up until the point Shiki pulls out a sword and starts killing things.

On the other side, the cast in zenith-verse is probably just about ready to throttle Gojo Satoru ("Why did we get another one of you? Where's Shiki??").

what i DO care about, however, is the fact that this comes just over a year since the Bioware QA team unanimously voted to unionize. as of right now, it would seem that they're being heavily impacted by the layoffs. which feels fairly obvious as union busting to me, ngl.

but to answer your question, they just had a bunch of interactions in the canon story mode of mk1, and their stories were deeply involved with each other :3 based on their dynamic in canon it was just really easy to put them together i suppose!

I actually had a dream, and while it was tangential, one element was an ancient aliens esque theory, that angels/gods were real beings, because of the consistency of this sash/stole/shawl/ribbon thing shown in art across the world.

Unfortunately for the theorists in my dream, we actually know pretty well how it went.

The ancient Romans just really liked showing deities framed by a billowing garment, "Velificatio ... represents 'vigorous movement,' an epiphany, or 'the vault of heaven,' often appearing with celestial, weather, or sea deities."

The etymology is roughly "setting sail", and Pliny the Elder describes a wind god as "Making a sail of her garment."

I sometimes call it a veil because well, the Japanese version is always really diaphanous, but as you can see in the wikipedia article, it's sometimes associated with initiations into mystery religions, where it's related to the veil or shroud Romans would put over their dead, so removing it symbolized rebirth, and (stretching a little here) it billowing around someone showed them as near but aside from death.

It's shown a lot of ways (there's this little known painting called Birth of Venus from the 15th century, check out Zephyrus in it), but, well, here's Neptune from the 3rd century:

The cloth itself doesn't really have a name, but in Japan the tennin (lit, heavenly people, analogous to angels) wear hagoromo (feathered rainment) that they sometimes need to fly.

As you can see, a hagoromo (center) includes this exact windy sash, but there's also more to it.

Does any AU Shiki actually feel pride/feel attached to her clan? We know zenith canon Shiki is definitely out.

I think that in order for Shiki to feel attached to a clan, she would need positive emotional attachments to the vast majority if not all of its members. Which generally aren't something that clans would focus on in the first place, and also very difficult considering Shiki's own personality...

Moreover, in most circumstances, the clans would just see Shiki as being valuable for her abilities. Which isn't particularly helpful on this front, either.

my current dying tablet is a Wacom Bamboo Fun (CTH-461) — it's my second one technically. The first one I had for about 5 years was my first tablet, from like? 2011 or 2012 to 2016?? the replacement was the same model, from 2016 to now

it's very much an entry-level, small tablet in the $80-100 range (or at least, i paid $80 for it), and they stopped making it years ago (actually when i bought my second one in 2016, they were already no longer making them lol i just lucked out)

It's small, barely under 6"x4", 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity, etc., very much out of date by now

Look at that mid 2000s chunky piece of tech. Like I said, it's dying, pretty much the same way (cable issues) as the first one now after nearly 7 years (not a bad run! it's served me well and I've dropped it off of my bed many... many times, i'm surprised it actually lasted longer than my first one)

But thanks to bluef00t (thanks again a million times) I'm upgrading, though of course still in the $80 range, to a Huion HS611 so it will be interesting to use a modern, not 10+ year old model of drawing tablet for the first time—

am EXTREMELY curious to see what it's like to draw on something with 8x the pressure sensitivity and 2x the resolution of what I've been using for the past 11-12 years LOL leaving the stone age and entering the age of steel

i've also never used a pen with tilt so that should be interesting?? i don't think it has an eraser tip on the end, but tbh i've been using my bamboo's eraser less and less frequently and just using the nib end with transparency so i'm not too miffed about that (5 years ago it would have been a deal breaker though)

its active area is also 10"x6" which I am definitely looking forward to. My Bamboo is fine, it's not tiny, but it's def cramped, so nearly doubling the size to something a little more spacious sounds very nice...
