Damn friend you really asked that in the most dishonest way you possibly could, like the only reason why I wouldn't think tims parents are neglectful is bc they're rich and not bc I just don't think they qualify as neglectful but let's go into it anyway

First off let's get our definition correct neglectful in parenting means the failure of a parent or guardian to provide basic needs for a child such as food clothing shelter medical care or supervision, which when people refer to tims parents being neglectful they're usually talking about that last one but even that's a stretch considering while tims parents were away working alot they never just left tim to fend for himself usually tim had someone else to watch him mostly in the form of boarding school so by the broad definition Jack and Janet drake were not neglectful parents - just bc theyre weren't always physically beside tim does not make them neglectful

Now do I think Jack and Janet were perfect parents - no but I do think people give them a lot of grief for reasons beyond their control such as them being away alot since theyre archaeologists and it's part of their jobs to travel alot personally i think it'd be worse if instead of leaving tim in a safe stable environment they were constantly upheaving him, moving him around and disrupting his schooling so what he could hang out at a dig site? Also we don't actually know for sure how often Jack and Janet were away for - we just know Tim wishes they were home more which btw is understandable I'm not saying Tim can't be upset at his parents not being around more, I'm just saying it's not exactly a good enough reason to jump to jack and janet were the worst parents ever like a lot of people seem to do.

The other thing people like to point to when talking about bad parenting is Jack and how he interacts with Tim after Janet died which honestly is just alot of the parent and child love each other but don't understand each other causing conflict troupe it's not exactly something I could really say puts Jack on the worst dad's list especially since he does try to be better and does get that character development as time goes on (you know before he dies too)

Anyway this is all long enough but I wanted to end on a cute note with these pages from this week's issue of batman #134

Even if it is an alternate version of her getting Tim and Janet interactions is not something I expected. We got so little of her, since she dies so early on, before he even officially becomes Robin. The focus was always on his relationship was with his father in the comics. We only ever got a couple of interactions with him and her. So always happy to see more of her.

Bobby ended up being first in the lineup!! I have a few headcanons regarding how the team works in the Grid

First, since programs generally can't change their circuit color, the uniforms are a specific circuit pattern for each team, instead of having team colors. There will probably be a simple insignia they can each display, like how the tetromino in the circle became the Tron Lives symbol.

Bobby is a pretty young program, like the rest of his disc wars team. He's from Tron City originally, and he either is an ISO or is very close to a few of them. He takes an interest in how their expression differs from BASICs. He's probably originally programmed for art, but he really admires Tron and he's attended a lot of Games. He's reaching outside of his programming to become a disc fighter.

If this ends up being an au I will probably sideline the Occupation

Edit: I forgot to say it but thank you so much too @mewtwowarrior for the idea of disc wars teams!!!

One thing that's really interesting to me is Ammit and Harrow's approach to Randall's death which gives me a really clear insight on their whole "kill people before they do bad stuff" shtick and the way he views those people. To him and Ammit, whatever good they do doesn't matter, because they do something bad enough that their heart becomes heavier than the feather of truth.

Here, Harrow outright says that Marc is the one at fault for his brother's death and subsequently, its his own fault he is traumatized and his family is broken. Whats interesting (and REAL fucked up lol) about that take is that is robs Marc's mother of her own role in this situation and it robs Marc of his age at the time and of his intentions (or lack thereof, since Marc never wanted or intended for his brother to die). The circumstances don't matter to Harrow OR Ammit.

According to their logic, if Randall hadn't died then Marc's mother wouldn't have been driven to take out her grief on her surviving son, and Marc wouldn't have his trauma or DID. This completely takes away any blame Marc's mother holds, and puts the blame squarely onto Marc, putting him at the same level as his mother while forgetting that she's an adult and he was a child.

We know marc didn't want to kill his brother. He was too young to understand why his mother didn't want them to go into the cave when it rains. Marc could've been the one who died instead.

I think this really shows that Ammit's logic works in theory-- because who wouldn't want to get rid of murderers and dictators before they got the chance to be evil? But in practice? Getting rid of a child because he has the potential to do something bad? Like if someone killed a person out of self defense, would Ammit claim their soul then? For defending themselves? Regardless of circumstance? It hardly seems fair.

Maybe I'm reading way too much into this, but I've been mulling this over since I watched episode 6.

DC about their LGBT+ characters: yeah the main character of our popular movie spinoff is bi and had a three way on the show and also we have a trans woman playing a major character in our new movie connected to our biggest franchise

“Detective work got me started, when I deduced Batman’s real identity. It was also obvious that Batman needed a Robin--even if I had to step into the role myself. It was by no means certain he’d let me keep the job. And boy, did he make me earn the job. I didn’t quit--not then anyway. I stuck with it, through thick and thin. Of course, everything wasn’t perfect. My folks didn’t know I was doing this. And I hated lying to them-sneaking out behind their backs.

My dual life exacted a terrible price. My mother died and my Dad was put into a wheelchair. When Dana came into Dad’s life, I dared to hope that everything would be okay again. Eventually, my Dad discovered I was Robin. Truth is, I think I was purposely sloppy with hiding the evidence. Deep down, I think I wanted him to find out. I was almost relieved when Dad forced me to quit. Even so, it hurt to discover that even I was quickly replaceable. It’s humbling the first time you learn the world can go on without you. It especially hurt that Batman replaced me with my own girlfriend--or that she’d agree to do it. Then again, Spoiler always did need Batman’s official validation--maybe even more so than she needed me.

I thought I was all done with violence and adventure and the world’s many evils--but evil wasn’t done with me. The recent gang war in Gotham brought it all back home again. It took my Dad and Spoiler and a dozen more of my close friends.

Recent events have hammered me pretty hard, and how do I deal with it? I’m tempted to go the same route Dana has and just blissfully shut down for a while. Or I could become more like Batman and emotionally cut myself off from the world, at the same time I battle its most horrible aspects. But I choose to go a third way--the more difficult way. I can’t squander the sacrifices of Mom, Dad, Stephanie, Darla Aquista and the others, by turning my back on the struggle that claimed their lives. I’m never quitting again. They paid too high a price for me to simply “dabble” in super heroics. It’s no longer just a kid’s grand adventure. At the same time, I owe it to my Dad to try to become the man he wanted me to be. He never let the tragedies in his life close him off to its joys. So I won’t either. That’s a promise, Dad, and I won’t break this one. Time to grow up, Tim.”
