i was a little... surprised? at the scene where gojo was sealed. and like the whole plan and exposition and everything leading up to it, cause like. stsg are made out to be such an unquestionable Thing that i had almost expected more from the source material- and there was Plenty to work with if you're going the shipping rout dont get me wrong- but... i just. maybe it just feels like a dissatisfying sort of portrayal almost?

because it feels in some ways like such an acknowledgement that people just. dont Get life-changing relationships outside of romance anymore.

i think they were soulmates. i think they were friends. i think they changed each other's lives and were unfathomably, unspeakably precious to each other. i think when they broke they shattered and cracked and the splinters of that ache are still lodged in the soft spaces between their bones. i think it still affects them, because that's the kind of thing you dont just get over.

i dont think it was sexual. i dont think they had a romantic relationship. like, i just... it was really strange, because while this big Proof of Romance thing was sort of playing out on screen the only thing i could think was that this was how i felt when i lost one of my friends because i just Didnt know how to be there for them when they needed support.

in the end we, who thought we would be friends for the rest of our lives, ended up never really seeing each other again because we just. didnt have what each other needed anymore. and i still hope they're happy, and want them to be well. and i still regret how things went down.

i know ruby 1.0 and ruby 2.0 are supposed to be the same character but they are sooo different to me and i think ruby (up until the last 4 episodes of season 3) was legitimately meant to be a good aligned demon and i feel like anyone who analyzes ruby 1.0 with the lens of ruby 2.0 (in a way that suggests they believe eric kripke always intended her to be a lucifer follower) i get soooo confused. like guys ruby 1.0 and ruby 2.0 are vastly different characters its okay to admit that the fandom mightve contributed to how fucking weird her heel turn was in season 4. eric kripkes five year plan was a lie you fools!!!

i do think its interesting to analyze ruby 1.0 in the context of her season 4 retcons but i dont think the retcons were the original plan. also kripke was boring for making her evil there i said it. yeah, yeah, toxic women, she was so much more boring as a secretly evil demon the only reason people didnt hate it is bc they were huge misogynists and wanted ruby dead, and also her "i'm awesome" monologue fucked so hard it almost saved the disappointment.

Ruby 1.0 and Ruby 2.0 are as different to me as both version of Meg are, but with twice the disappointment because Ruby 1.0 felt like they were setting up some Hell lore and breaking of the status quo that got nixed when they had to end the season earlier than planned. Like she genuinely reads to me as morally grey aligned anti hero, who DID actually want to help Sam out (but with hidden motivations. Just ones that weren't working for Lilith.)

S4 literally took every single bit of nuance that Ruby had and dumped it out the window. Like you're telling me that the same Ruby who told Dean that hell was forgetting who you are is the same person as Ruby 2.0? It's not even just the acting (altho a lot of it is), it's like the writers knew they needed Sam to be manipulated into going dark, so they retconned the characterization of the closest person next to him to make it happen Idk.

Ruby 2.0's final speech was fucking awesome and genuinely one of my favorite scenes in the show, but Ruby 1.0 was just more fun Imo. I was in love with her ever since she went "you're TAAAAAALL" to Sam while stealing his french fries.

Your relationship with Bi Han is a lot more complicated that it would be with Kung Lao or Raiden. He'd often times only visit you at night, and he'd only stay for a few hours.

It all started when you were walking home. Alone, in the dark, not a good match for a young woman. This was proven correct by you almost getting hurt in an accident, but luckily Bi Han was there to save you.

You begged and pleaded with him to tell you someway you could make it up to him. If it wasn't for him, you'd be dead! You thought you owed him your life.

After a few minutes of your back and forth, you saying he deserved something while he said he didn't need anything, you settled on taking him out for coffee.

You guys sat at that cafe for nearly 3 hours just talking. Talking about everything you guys could think of. At the end of the night, which only ended because the cafe was closing, he walked you home.

You didn't think much of it, you'd known each other on a first name basis by now and he just wanted to be nice.

Or at least, that's what you thought. He would show up every night after that, the exact same time, the exact same way, asking the exact same thing. "Would you like to join me for coffee?" Those words would ring in your head in the morning, he just kept coming back, asking the same thing over and over.

You didn't mind it, but at the same time, you found it odd. This man you knew for only 3 hours would come to your house every night, take you out for coffee, pay for everything, take you back home, and wouldn't talk to you again till the next night. Something about him was off, very off, but you didn't know what.

It's not that you didn't feel safe around him, you did, but there was something he wasn't telling you. You knew he wanted to, he just couldn't.

One night, he told you he was a private investigator, even going as far as to show you his official badge. You wanted to know more about it, considering most of the time he'd just ask about you and not talk about himself much.

He went on to say that he'd usually investigate disappearances, murder cases, and even paranormal activity sometimes. Bi Han continued by saying he'd often take care of the source of the crime before the police got to it, somehow always finding out inside information.

You were completely intrigued. You wanted to see him in action, but he said that would be too dangerous for you. He gave you his business card and walked you back home, telling you to swing by his headquarters tomorrow morning and he'll tell you everything you need to know about him.

He said it in such a serious way it sent chills down your spine. This was an offer you couldn't miss. You got up early just to be there on the time you agreed on, walking into I nearly organized office area.

Oddly enough, however, all of the blinds on the windows were completely closed. You thought this was extremely odd, wondering why, but before you could go too deep into thought, you could see Bi Han in the corner of your eye.

"Care for some coffee?" He says with a playful smirk as he points to the full coffee pot on his end table.

He had given you a small tour before taking you to the lower part of the building. "This is where I live, train, sleep, shower, everything. Call it a basement, I call it home."

To be fair, it was a finished basement, completed with rug and hardwood floors and even a spruce ceiling, at least he has taste.

He showed you around even more and ended the tour at his bedroom. "This is my bedroom. I like to keep it simple, but the bed is comfortable, I swear. It's memory foam."

He smiles at you before taking you to the small couch in his living room. He sat you down, and turned to you with a very serious look on his face.

"Y/n, there's something I've been keeping from you. Something I need to tell you. We've known each other for a while now," it's true. You guys have been seeing each other for coffee for the past 4 weeks. This is the very first time you've ever seen him in the day time, odd considering he'd never missed a day of taking you out.

"I know this is gonna sound insane, and I have proof, but I need you to trust me." He let out a deep sigh before continuing, "I'm a vampire."

You just looked at him, in complete disbelief. Not for the reasons you should be, though. You were wondering if he was joking or not.

"Are you being serious? Do you genuinely expect me to believe that?" You said as you chuckle into your hand a bit. He face only grew more serious as he took your hand and led you upstairs, going to the side of one of the windows before opening the blinds and letting you see as his hand began to sizzle. He let out a small gasp of pain as he pulled away, hand now smoking because of the heat.

You were in shock. You still didn't completely believe him, however. "Maybe you just have a skin condition, that doesn't mean anything."

You didn't want to believe the man that you had been talking to for so long was a FUCKING VAMPIRE. it was hard to come to terms with really.

He walked over to you slowly, holding up his hand as the smoldering wound miraculously healed in seconds.

He grabbed your hands, taking them in his as he makes eye contact with you. His gaze softens as he can see the uncertainty in your eyes.

He opens his mouth slowly, showing his retractable fangs. That's it. You were convinced. You gasped as he let go of you, letting you have your space.

"I know this might be a lot to take in, but I hope this doesn't change anything between us. I still care about you."

You genuinely don't know how to feel, conflicted by someone you thought you could trust. How did he go so long without telling you about this? It honestly hurt you to know that he was keeping this from you.

"I think we should have some time off from each other. I need a bit to process this, it's a lot to take in all at once." He could hear fear in your voice, and it broke his heart knowing he was the cause of it.

He nodded his head, watching as you left the building. He leaned back on his desk, wondering what he could've done better, wondering what he could've done to make you feel more safe.

He was going to make it up to you somehow, he just knew you needed time. He was patient, but after waiting so long to make you his, his patience is wearing thin. Very thin.

so first things first here is what i am taking into consideration for the theory to happen:

• mike pov, self reflection and introspection (he is gay and in love with will byers okay)

• madwheeler bonding, theyre both complex n misunderstood

• the upside down isnt just one dimension, i came up with this bc of how different the ud looks now

compared to when henry arrived.

to me theres like an umbrella dimension (yellow one) and others under it (blue one/hawkins ud, the void, etc)

this is also lowkey supported by the silly boobie diagram the writers posted abt

OKAY PREPARE FOR THE WORD VOMIT

in this silly theory of mine, a new dimension variant of the ud will be revealed in season 5, serving as a parallel to the void. this is where max is

OKAY another thing is this is also heavily based on those “leaks” that were going around twitter (for me at least) earlier when the strike first started. i remember a few of them claiming that we would get a deeper insight into mike and his own things, so this is my interpretation

this would serve as another vanishing, not really bc its shorter, but this time mike will be getting stuck in this other dimension, eventually finding max BOOM madwheeler serve

i mean look at them. the potential is insane

this dimension is like a combo of all the other ones, picture it like the hawkins ud, with the void’s wet floor maybe

lets go back to the fact max is here, this is her coma nightmare, its like this purgatory dimension vecna put her soul in

in this dimension inhabit your ghosts

this overwhelming, haunting, tormenting realm in your mind where you are constantly confronting all your bad memories, maybe this is kind of how vecna keeps max under his grasp, no happy memories allowed

okay so, mike gets there. how? when? i dont fucking know this is honestly just word vomit fanfiction to me

at first hes confused, scared but mostly confused, picture him screaming for wills name (the parallels) at first it’s empty and eerily quiet, but as he accepts it, the ghosts start coming in.

he gets BOMBARDED with these bad memories, some of them he cant even remember because come on, bro is always neglecting his internalized feelings/monologue in fear of what they say about him

this is where we get his pov on the whole will and eleven situation, amongst other things (like the way he’s constantly stressed thinking about the safety of the people he loves)

for a moment we see him break, bc these ghosts are LOUD and MANY

but it stops

max is here, she’s like “MIKE?”

“MAX?”

shes been here for a fat minute, she knows how to handle these ghosts in fact shes been going thru them one by one ever since, because shes done hiding. and she suspects that the only way to get out is by confronting them.

max saves mike from his ghosts, explains that this place is seemingly a purgatory with levels of memories and ghosts to overcome

this is how we get our madwheeler bonding we so graciously need, as they are part of eachother ghosts since theyre so similar it makes the other mad

this is how our complex misunderstood characters are broken down, explained to the audience, while also discovering the mystery that is this new dimension where at the finish line they might just figure out how to defeat vecna.

because they will

after overcoming the ghosts they find the place that vecna didnt think they would reach as he was so sure they would break and collapse on their own madness

think of it as how el found the source in season 3

or how max found vecnas lair after running away in dear billy

except this place is vecnas actual mind, they can see hear and feel what vecna is thinking, his plans and everything

mike wonders how will feels being able to feel this all the time

will feels this all the time

will is always connected to this piece of vecnas mind, to this source

he can always hear vecna

until he suddenly hears max… and mike and theyre calling for help

theyve figured out key clues on how to defeat vecna, and they have an idea on how to get out. this is how will’s connection comes in handy

theres no time travel in my rewrite (both the first one and new one) and with the new version that works with villain rauru there are no flashbacks aside possibly some illusions rauru shows you to tell you just how great it was before bad bad ganondorf showed up (so .. kinda like in canon but with the direct contrast of him telling you a verrrrrryyyy one sided perspecitve vs what you later learn)

so i considered having rauru mention that he had a beautiful perfect wife back in the day and ganondorf murdered her for her stone (unsure yet if hes telling more or less the truth or if its another lie ... i dont want to make him too one note evil either bc whats the point then) and perhaps, before the final confrontation, the true end fight against rauru have her appear

it being on the great plateau where he builds his castle towards the end of your quest- which is sort of a dungeon- and just before you are going into the final room you might encounter sonia ....... s puppet really, like an apparition rauru made of her as part of his plan to revive his old glorious kingdom but not able to literally revive the dead, her greeting you and asking if youd like an audience with king rauru- but in an unsettling way, robotic, always smiling and super nice, oblivious to what you had to fight through just to get here (or alternatively .. she greets you at the start and begins to lead you in until zelda tries to talk to her about what raurus doing thinking she might just be real, but since its just a magic trick of rauru she turns on you and throws you into the dungeon, quite literally, as soon as its clear you/zelda intent to stop him)

i feel a little bad about it but as of now i dont know how to make use of them, i want to keep the past as much of a mystery as i can while still have it all make sense, i want it to be about saving the world as you know it, which is different from the past, very different, but not different in a bad way, and the idea of there being only light with no shadow being bad bc a balance is needed

id like to think, depending on which timeline we’re going with, there’d be varied reactions but somewhat the same. i think past versions of the brothers would react….severely, especially when only they’re getting accustomed to being a demon. i mean, in the recent chap 22 (spoilers) mammon is slowly but surely growing into being the avatar of greed that he reacted very harshly when levi saved mc from falling. that alone, triggered mammon to turn into his demon form and threatened to fight everyone who laid a hand on mc💀the brothers couldn’t even handle him at the time. now, i’m a firm believer that a sensitive time such as that would only ensue in some crazy drama😭 it could only culminate in chaos. maybe who knows, the solomon hate train would start a millenial earlier.

but if we were to go with future/present brothers, it wouldn’t be anything drastic, physically at least. bc at least the brothers have fully grown into being demons and can control themselves. but that wouldn’t stop the pettiness that would transpire. they still care about mc, and to see mc obviously care and have this fondness over solomon that they all crave for, they wouldn’t lay a hand on him for mc’s sake. at least you can sleep well with that thought❤️ still, the hate for solomon would skyrocket to the heavens. they go from being distrustful and wary of solomon’s intentions to actually straight up being solomon’s main haters.

hmm hmm…i dunno. this could result in many varying scenarios. and at a time where mc goes missing from the present timeline and the brothers are most likely losing their minds without mc, only for them to come back and deliver the worst news……….low blow, really. but yk what would be the lowest blow? if mc was the one who proposed to solomon instead. anyways, not to sidetrack, but i like to think present lucifer would be in heavy denial for some time LMFAO the first time he’d hear about mc and solomon, luci is probably the type to just completely disregard it and—not act—truly believe that it’s not real, which this perception borders irrationally. with levi and especially mammon, they’re practically two beat up puppies. while levi would sulk and let his misery fester in the close quarters of his room, mammon would not hesitate to make his feelings of betrayal known out loud. the rest of the brothers would act on the same spectrum, utter heartbreak. even beel would sit mc down at times and have long conversations with them about their decision to be seriously romantically involved with a man like solomon.

i think it’d be devastating. they should be happy, but dont forget that they’re the avatars of the seven original sins.

So okay, I've thought about marriage with all the characters a little bit, but I don't think I've actually seriously considered what everybody's reactions would be!

I do think Solomon has gotten more possessive and jealous in Nightbringer, but I also think this could be because he's expressing himself a little more freely than he did before. In the OG, I always felt like he was holding himself back because he genuinely believed that MC would never choose him. In Nightbringer, though, I think he's either finding it harder to do that because he lives with them now or he just doesn't want to keep backing off when he clearly loves MC so much. I could definitely see him asking MC to marry him if he thought it was a good time.

I also think the reactions would vary depending on timeline, as you said. And I fully agree with you - if it happened while they were in the past, as things are right now, it'd be absolute chaos. I don't think Solomon is dumb enough to do something like that. He seems pretty determined to get himself and MC back to their own time. And even if he really wants to marry MC, I think he wouldn't propose while they were in the past for the very reasons you list. The demons are not stable and it just isn't worth the risk.

Now, in the present/future timeline, I think things would be far safer for him to actually propose. The demons are more stable, MC isn't really dealing with anything that could change the course of their lives, all that stuff.

If we consider how it would go before MC was unceremoniously chucked into the past, I think that would be the most stable and least dangerous scenario. MC has been living with the brothers for a while, they haven't been exclusive with anyone, and they haven't made any promises to anyone about being exclusive. It's a little weird if we think of it in terms of the generic OM MC because that MC has definitely been involved with everybody at some point. But this would differ depending on different people's versions of MC. But going with the general MC, yeah, I think most of the brothers would be upset about it.

Like if MC is gonna marry someone, it should at least be one of their brothers, right?! I think all the brothers would be okay with it if MC married Lucifer, for instance. They'd be like annoyed it wasn't them, but also just... they get it, you know?

But Solomon? No way. Lucifer himself would lose his mind. Luci's dislike of Solomon might make him try to talk MC out of it. If Solomon asked for Luci's permission, he'd only make it worse. 'Cause Lucifer'd be like no, get out. And I agree, I think he'd be in denial about MC wanting to marry Solomon. I agree with your assessment of Levi and Mammon's reactions, too.

I think they'd all take it pretty hard, but in the end, I also think they'd come around to MC's decision.

Now if MC came back from the past and was all oh yeah I'm engaged to Solomon? Yeah, no that reaction would be INTENSE. I think MC should probably wait a while before telling them that. Let them get over the fact that MC just disappeared on them first.

And honestly, I think if MC proposed to Solomon instead, everything might go a little bit better. Because if Solomon is the one proposing, the brothers will see that as this shady sorcerer stole away our human and that's unacceptable. We can maybe talk MC out of this! We can maybe influence this choice if we complain enough!

But if MC is the one proposing, then they know that it was always MC's choice. They would see it less as Solomon influencing MC and more like MC came to the decision on their own. Just because they love Solomon. And while I think that would be more devastating for them and likely result in a lot of heartbreak, I think they'd be less likely to fight MC on it. Because in the end, they do want MC to be happy.

OH MAN I think past!Barbatos would not be pleased about such an arrangement! He hates Sol's guts right now, so I can't imagine that going well. Future/present Barbatos on the other hand... I think we'd be dealing with another heartbreak situation. He was just beginning to develop feelings for MC. So I think he would be sad, but also happy for them. Because that version of Barbatos loves MC and he cares about Solomon, too. And I think he'd want them to be happy. And I kinda think that's how it would go for the rest of the side characters, too. Diavolo and Simeon both don't strike me as the types that would like try to talk them out of it or cause any anguish for them over it. I think they'd be sad to lose MC, but happy that their friends are in love, you know?

The brothers are just too attached to MC to really go that route without trying to talk them out of it. And also we know they really don't trust Solomon. Present/future Asmo might be the only one who sides with MC, though probably pretty reluctantly and that only because he actually likes Solomon in a way none of the other brothers do.

Wow I feel like there is just so much angst potential with this scenario! But I love the idea of MC marrying Solomon, even it makes things difficult for the brothers lol.

FOUND FAMILY /w COMFORT PT 2: so this is following a similar path to my freminet one. basically m!reader decided to take a peaceful walk around the court of fontaine with freminet (it can be a continuation of the first part or a completely seperate writing piece, up to you!) and on the way they run into lynette. ofc they invite her along and ask why she isn’t with her brother, and she explains how he’s off with the traveller on some errands.

they all decide to sit down to have some tea & sweets and m!reader offers to order (bc freminet is a lil shy and lynette jus isn’t a people gal), so freminet goes to sit at a table & lynette stands in line to wait for the order after m!reader has finished paying (once again, lyney scored bae material 😍).

after m!reader sits down with freminet and starts a lil conversation abt what he found diving a few days ago, he notices lynette getting hit on by some random dude. she’s visibly uncomfortable and attempting to move away from this man but he is PERSISTENT (not physically touching her but he’s pretty pushy)

ofc, m!reader isn’t gonna tolerate this vile behaviour towards his future sister-in-law, so he goes up to the man and creates distance between the two and (not so kindly) tells the dude to fuck off. creepo notices the vision on our person (idm what element 🫶🏻) and quickly scurries off.

m!reader verbally assures lynette (he’s wary of making her uncomfortable by hugging her bc ifykyk) that he won’t let anything happen to her whilst he’s around and lynette gives a lil smile (FJAKFKWKFKQ I LOVE THE TRIO SM 😭)

eventually the tea & cakes come and freminet runs up to lynette worried abt her, but she jus reassures him that she’s okay and they enjoy a peaceful afternoon snack together <33

A/n: Okayyy I have an ask from over a year ago about reader’s first time with Kazuha and I wanna write that so bad?? Do you guys want that too?👀 (This is not a continuation of the Freminet ver.)

The streets of the Court of Fontaine were busy as a usual weekend afternoon would make them. You were walking around, observing the different food stalls and stores with Freminet trailing you. The boy was looking around at different things that interested him, tugging on your sleeve to show you items from time to time. (HELP HE’S SO ADORABLE) Suddenly, you spotted a familiar whisp of hair in the distance. You take Freminet’s hand and pull him to catch up with the other person.

“Lynette!” You call out to the boy’s sister, catching her attention. She turns around and gives you a nod in greeting. “Hello, [Y/N].” She ruffles her brother’s hair to greet him, as she usually would.

Lynette had a good feeling about you as soon as Lyney had introduced you to her. She had a knack for being able to ‘detect’ someone’s intentions and from day one, she was sure you were a good person. Normally she would keep her guard up and try to protect her brothers from people who would try to take advantage of them, but… You were different. She approved of you.

You invite them both for some tea and sweets at a smaller café, bringing them over to find a table. You ask them what they both want and head over to place the order at the counter. As you finish telling the server the orders and paying, you return to the table and sit with Freminet, striking up light conversation. When you turn to the lineup to see where Lynette is, you find a man getting quite close to her. You knew she was not a fan of social interactions, so it was a little odd to see someone acting so familiar with the girl while she was looking nervous. Something about his mannerisms was getting to you, but you could not quite figure out what it was until he touched her upper arm. The sudden disrespect towards your (future) sister-in-law prompts you to walk up to the two, and you grab the man’s arm holding on hard enough to make him let go.

“Kindly leave, before I make you.” You say, with a sarcastic smile on your face. Lynette is standing behind a hand resting on the area the man had been grabbing. He laughs in disbelief and scoffs.

“Or what? She obviously wants me.” Lynette turns away in disgust to wait at the counter for the order. Your vision glows and your grip strengthens.

“Or you’ll regret it.” An expression of fear settles on his face as he sees the anger in your eyes. You let his arm go and he turns around and leaves without saying another word. You turn back to Lynette, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder to get her attention.

“You okay?” You ask her. She nods and you both take the order and join Freminet at the table.

The tea and sweets get gobbled up and the three of you make your way back to the siblings’ home after finishing up. You say your goodbyes and you part ways with them, heading back to your small apartment.

A few hours later, a knock is heard at the door. You open it to see Lyney holding a massive bouquet with tears in his eyes. Before you can question him, he drops the bouquet on the ground and throws himself in your arms.

“Thank you so much for taking care of my siblings!!” He says into your neck, your arms coming to wrap around his back after you recover from your shock.

After a few moments, you pull him away from you and set your hands on both his shoulders.

“Your family is mine, Lyney. You entrusted your siblings with me, so I cared for them.” His eyes water up again and he hugs you even harder than the first time. As he cries into your shoulder, his mind keeps replaying a scene of you slipping a ring over his finger to tie the knot between you both forever.

• little women -> i loved ittt. i have yet to read the other books in the series though (theres little women, good wives, little men, jo's boys). the movie (by greta gerwig) is one of my favourite movies ever so i have an attachment to the story. i recommend watching the movie first if you haven't already bc i honestly preferred it more, but the book is also incredible and sweet and the writing is great and it made me cry and learn to be a better person

• great expectations

• the picture of dorian gray -> ooh this one was one of my first ever classics, i think after children's classics and the catcher in the rye. i loved it alot. the descriptions are so beautiful and the premise is so interesting and agsbj i'm just so obsessed with the way oscar wilde writes !! actually i've heard people say that this is a good place to start for classics, but i'm not really so sure about that. i think this definitely is a staple in classic literature, but i recommend saving this as your 2nd or 3rd classic read so you're more used to the eloquent writing style of classics and you can fully appreciate the picture of dorian gray in all its glory :)

•alice in wonderland -> oh i loved this sm. i love alice in wonderland in general, more specifically the tim burton version. i think this is a good place to start, since i know you like alice in wonderland so you're already attached to the story and therefore will most likely enjoy it alot. the sarcasm and wit in this book is really enjoyable and fun, i finished this one really fast back in primary school :)

• frankenstein -> i finished this recently ! it's so great, i love frankenstein so much. though, it did seem like nothing much was happening so just beware that even tho its labelled as horror, it's more... thoughtful? it's really nothing like frankenstein in popular media, though i think that's part of its charn actually

• emma -> i've read 2 chapters of this. i'm planning on actually sitting down and finishing this next week or so! i recommend the movie with anya taylor joy if you're hesitant about reading it, bc the movie was really good :)

• pride and prejudice -> if you want to get into jane austen, this is probably the place to start. she's a really amazing writer and the way she creates characters and character relationships is so amazing i was really impressed by this book ! tho i gotta say i dont feel any particular attachment to it and im not exactly in a hurry to pick up her other books. like her writing is really good but im just not really into high society and period romance drama. i still recommend this though since it is a good classic and a staple to the genre.

• the secret history -> ooh this one isnt exactly a classic but definitely does deserve to be. I LOVE THE SECRET HISTORY SO SO MUCHHHH. i've reread this book like nearly 3 times. donna tartt's writing is so phenomenal and the characters are all so interesting, i can't wait for you to read this! though, one con is that it is reallyyy long and ik that its not uncommon for people to get sick of how the story drags on :( so i recommend making sure that you're fully hyped to read this cus i'd hate for you to drop it half way since its so brilliant i promise. pay attention to the way she writes scenes and characters and just anything ever because its just so well doneee.

• the great gatsby -> i have this and i'm thinking of reading it next actually !! im just letting myself process frankenstein and go back to read the frankenstein introduction before moving onto this :) i've heard that it's grand and gives old money but thats all i can say

i recommend starting with alice in wonderland and then going to the picture of dorian gray or pride and prejudice :)

ah also my favourite subgenre in classic literature is horror (they tend to not be scary at all and more thoughtsy) or japanese (osamu dazai is all ive read but im really interested in reading more japanese authors)

russian literature is also cool, though ive only read crime and punishment by dostoyevsky. i really want to read notes from underground or white nights or dead souls by nikolai gogol next agsbdj

if you're looking to get into it then probably white nights is the best since many people say its the best and also its really short compared to c&p. im not an expert tho so honestly you do you

also if you enjoy frankenstein and the picture of dorian gray then i REALLY reccomend the case of dr jelyll and mr hyde because its so short but sooo good

as for reading tips, i reccomend taking breaks and not pushing yourself cus then you'll find the experience tedious. also dont be intimidated because reading classics is like reading any other book except the writing style is super eloquent. read whatever subgenre of classic you enjoy and dont force yourself to read others if you arent interested :)

okay it's star trek update time. saturday we watched voy's "demon" and "one" and last night we did voy's "hope and fear" and ds9's "tears of the prophets."

demon (voy):

this one was so fun. i kept yelling THE GOOP IS ODO and it wasn't ofc but it was fun to imagine

a y class planet...i feel like we only ever see m class...this was very exciting

always exciting when they break out the space suits too

the ship landing is so silly and ridiculous. only slightly less ridiculous than the saucer splitting from tng

for a few minutes there i thought we were gonna have the tom paris/harry kim version of 2.25 resolutions. like because they could only breathe the planet's air. really really really funny

i love that the solution was to just let them clone everybody. imagine after voyager leaves and you can choose any crewman and all the little slimes want tuvok so you just have a bunch of tuvok slimes running around. 10/10

this one was soooososososo good

first of all, wtf at chakotay like talking to janeway about her bond with seven...that was gay as hell

i loved also she and the doctor eventually getting tired of each other. their scenes are so funny because they're both really autistic but in different directions

i love also when she gets put through the fire and succeeds...there is nothing she can't do. she really ran that whole ship on her own WHILE HALUCINATING i'm so proud of her

how clever to kind of leave it up in the air whether or not that guy was real, also. i went back and forth on it a few times and finally landed on not real only second before the reveal

her dream about being alone in the snowy tundra...damn. she like hates other people but also hates being alone. what a way to be

hope and fear (voy):

i had to physically pause this one multiple times to collect myself re: janeway/seven

the holodeck game. the argument where they both hit below the belt. the bit in the brig where they reference the first thing that happened in the brig and janeway had to touch seven's little eye thingy in the soft mood lighting wwwwow

i think the ethical dilemma here was a little silly though. like, my guy, you were banking on the ruthless guys who were stronger than the borg and also wanted to eat everyone else for lunch on helping YOU? like everybody say thanks janeway for getting rid of something even worse than the borg! not fuck you janeway for not letting the borg get killed by them

idk. i don't see that she did anything too awful. she sent them back home and saved them from the borg and saved the borg from them and then also got her people thru borg space AND got a gf out of it. leave her alone

i did like all the stuff about intuition vs borg knowledge though...janeway and her intuition remind me of kirk, but janeway and seven both fighting in the brig and then making up in the brig (complete with the touching) is very spones bread and circuses of them.

tears of the prophets (ds9):

man, sorry to say this, but...this script sucked bad. i dont think avery brooks is capable of phoning it in but we probability saw him get pretty close here. that final monologue, which should have ben about dax and was instead about the prophets, was poorly written

and dax's last words being about a baby - come on.

and kira and odo's argument - he is not so stupid he would do this without expecting her to be mad

and the scene between dukat and damar...where was the tension?? crazy dukat great but he's been better

even the thing with quark and bashir moping around in the holodeck because of dax was bad on paper

like, all of these things were saved (well, some of them were saved) by admirable performances from a charming and talented cast, but whew! like, julian looked so sad this became funny. kira and odo kissing to make up was so charming i forgave the premise

but dax's death was a bad death and her final arc being about a FUCKING baby was really sexist. sisko leaving not sure if he is coming back bc of some prophet thing right when bajor needs him most seems ooc. and his monologue to dax not being ABOUT. DAX. was a crime. poor terry farrell.

overall s6 has been great so far aside from a couple of bumps but man did it end on a sour note. i have heard season 7 is divisive so i guess we will see!!

We've already said that my man is so toxic and insane it's illegal , the way he's absolutely flabbergasted by the mere idea of being forgotten by ash , being an afterthought to her while HE is constantly haunted by her, so obsessed he cannot think of anything else and obviously cannot ever forget her jajansnsnnss yeah we've discussed this

Now, I relistened to the rest of the songs and I'm stunned speechless by his actions. He goes to tattle about ash, then goes to her , gets her to betray Matty and arranges for that poor little meow meow to WATCH, then he's all happy to die and die with her. Did he even sleep at night? This is such a convoluted and masterful plan how the fuck did he come up with it ? Insane. And at the end he's just so happy to die??? You do all this to get your revenge and have ashra never forget you only to get both of yourselves killed right after ?? What??

I love that he wanted to take the easy way out on all this guilt for the shit that he did ( bc that's the other part of it !! He's insane but then he feels bad ! The guilt eats him alive when he hits ashra but then he hits again! He gets one harlot killed and he can't sleep at night so he gets another one killed!! Bro what ??) and Jesus was like "nuh-uh bestie you're gonna have to live with all of this <3 bye bye kisses have a good guilt ridden life I guess :)"

Like he's so complex I want to consume him kamsnsnsbn he's a bitch but he's in love but it's not really love it's obsession and wanting to be worshipped and wanting power over some idolized version of ashra and he's so miserable he just wants to die bc he can't see a way to live with his sins so he goes all out right before dying because nothing matters anymore and soon he'll pay, this is the solution, he'll pay and god will see he was shitty but got himself killed so it's fine he's fine he'll be forgiven he has to, either way he can't live, not anymore he can't he can't kaksmsnsnnsns

Last thing, I absolutely love that in another day passes pt2 EVERYONE is having their worst day ever , Ashra is miserable ,Matthias almost dies and ACRO DANCES HIS LITTLE DANCY DANCE BC HE CAN'T WAIT TO TRICK ASHRA INTO HAVING SEX AND THEN BEING KILLED

Aarco is a lil bich ✨ But he is suchhhhh a great antagonist/villain, because all of his actions can be tracked back to how he was raised and a chain of events that pushed him deeper and deeper into insanity.

It all started because of his jealousy of Matty and Ashra ("with jealousy inside"), a very human emotion which added on with bad coping bc of his upbringing. He was a teenager who grew up with abusive/violent parents/father ("when we made mistakes we were beaten the same way") which clearly explains how his bad emotional coping comes from. He got attached to Ashra because they were in the same boat in their upbringing ("her dad was a scribe so was mine"), someone to relate to and find comfort in ("youve been my refuge, my fortress to flee to"). Especially considering the gender expectations and upbringings at the time and place it would make sense that he saw her as a sort of "caretaker" for him and also that he kind of had a right to her love and affection ("so ill win and keep you/and if you dont know how to love me ill teach you"). They grew up together, their fathers knew each other, Aarco desired her so an engagement would be the next logical step.

But instead Ashra fell in love with Matthias, hes not fully part of the community. He's a half-jew, his father might be unknown? (I'm sure in the book we'd get more context but i don't have it so idk) But anything thats different = suspicious. Aarco gets jealous, of them and looks for a weakness, its not hard. There seems to be no father that could "protect" Mattias or his mother against rumors and since their integration into their community was already shaky its easy for Aarco to find smth.

Aarco is a teenager, he is not fully aware of the consequences of his actions, when he goes to his father and says that Matty's mother is prostituting herself in secret (which is a bad-bad thing for society, its against their religion and social expectations). Aarco thinks for that accusation Matty's mother and him would be shunned and exiled from their community...not that people would end up picking stones and kill his mother. When they start stoning her, he runs to Matthias for help (again, the notable absence of a father/male adult/protector role). By the time they get there, its too late. Matthias starts lashing out at the people and runs away when Ashra tries to get to him.

Aarco is traumatized. But hey, it worked right? Matthias is out of the picture, he left Ashra behind and now Aarco can get close to her. He is there for her, because Ashra has noone else, even if she still loves Matthias, Aarco is there, Matty isnt. Aarco knows that, and he starts clinging to Ashra because thats the only thing he can do, if he were to let go of her, the murder he was responsible for would have been for nothing. He clings to Ashra, in order to justify and ease his guilt. Everything becomes about her. Everything is for her. He needs her. He wants her. Desire becomes obsession. But its not enough. He still has nightmares, and he needs to numb his emotions. So he turns to anger and sensual pleasures that he wants from Ashra. But she keeps refusing him, distancing herself from him. He (tries to) respect her (her father). They're engaged. He only has to wait until the wedding and then he has all rights to her. But he hit her, over the ring because she didnt say she loved him. He needs her to say it, to know that she's devoted to him the way he is obssessed with her. But he was violent, that what he promised her he wouldnt do (because they do not want to be like their fathers, because she is scared that he will become like him). He knows he did her wrong, he hit her, he threatened her, he said he wouldnt.

He'll try, and if he fails he'll just apologize again, but he needs to give ashra space for now or he'll loose her, because Ash is ignoring and refusing any attempt of him to get physically close to her. Just until the wedding he has to wait.

And then he makes relation with this woman, who gots tired of her husband (who she probably got married to at a fairly young age, lets be honest, while he was probably a lot older) things lead onto each other (they should be around 21 by now age wise if i understood right) and they start an affair. He tells himself, just one more time. Its a way to numb the pain. (Note: Im loosing a bit of track chronolocially but bear with me i hope it still makes sense) Just one more time.........and then Ashra shows up at his door, to apologize. But the woman is still in his bedroom.

She finds out. Aarco apologises, thats all he has to do right? Ashra will be mad at him, but she'll learn to forgive him. But instead of anger, she's relieved. and that hurts him. because its such a clear sign that she doesnt care for him. Hes furious. He has to keep her. Matty has shown up in their life again and Aarcos never been so insecure about Ashras love, the second he showed up, Ashra completly turned away from him. All the hard work lost, just through one hug from Matthias. The man he wanted gone. Everything is for her. She says she will tell her father. She is a woman. He's close to her father. It will be easy to make sure they dont believe her. Because she belongs to him. So even before Ashra can speak with her father, Aarco goes to him and tells him that Ashra saw Matty again and now she's acting up (theyre treating her like a child). Ashra comes in and tell him that Aarco cheated, Aarco has the upper hand, he calls her a liar. Her father believes him of course, hes a man. His word is more relevant. Lying is against their religion. She gets beaten. She'll be fine. She'll be his again

.....only that she runs away, with Matthias. His biggest fear. Not only that, she leaves him a letter telling him that she will forget about him. Dumping him and pushing him into his darkest pit. She betrays her. The woman he promised himself salvation for his sins form. What else is there for him now? She choose the man he killed for to get rid of. Again. And Again, like everytime. So they must pay. He gets pushed to insanity because his whole life resolved around her and she rejected him, not only rejected but said she'd forget about him. Making him feel insignificant. The murder was for not. His soul is already lost to sin. He lied, he (indirecly) killed, he cheated. There is no saving himself. No, but the least he can do is drag Ashra and Matthias down with him.

He can shatter Matthias and forfeit Ashras life with his own, so theyll be together at least in death. All he has to do is wait. So he waits, until he sees them again. Matthias as a begging leper on the streets and Ashra with a child alone, a shadow of who she used to be, a harlot. After all this time, his time is finially come to get his revenege on them. He has a plan. He will invite himeslf to Ashra bedroom, because she has let him in before, the last time that Matthias left her. Now they're grown, she has no choice but to let him in really. He'll promise her to ease her pain. Show her how it couldve been, if she had choosen him instead of Matthias. But he wants Matthias to see, who his wife really is, a traitor, a cheat. So he faints that Matthias needs to get over himself and provide for his family. its his job. She is his wife, he's supposed to be the man in the house. But he ran, so the least he can do is provide with the money he made. While Matthias grabs what he has, frantic from almost dying and the confused by aarco saving him Aarco goes home to Ashra, and convinces her to let her in, he lets her take of Matthias ring. For old times sake, you know. They sleep with each other, he holds her, at least once. He knows how it couldve been. but he lied. It doesnt ease Ashras pain at all. She just feels worse.

It doesnt matter, because there are knocks at the door. What he has waited for. he holds Ashra close, doesnt let her go, even as she tries to run. The men come in. Caught in adultery. A crime to be punished with death through stoning. Aarco will die, good, he will finially pay for his crimes. And Ashra will be with him. Thats why he told them about Ashra before he invited himself to her bedroom. She'd pay, and so would he. Only that Jesus is in town some other official ask him for advice. And he tells them that the one who had never sinned should throw the first stone. Nobody can say that of himself. So they drop their stones and Ashra gets freed, sent home to her child. Thats terrible for Aarco, but at least he'll still be punished....only that Jesus also frees him. He forgives him. He frees him. He tells him he can let go of the burden, of the guilt and shame. He can let go of Ashra and beginn new. The chains that bound Aarco to Ashra - the guilt and obssesion to make it have been worth it - get cut. All of them are now free.
