Right now the US is experiencing the second worst spike in COVID since the beginning of the pandemic. Right now, about 1 in 20 people have the virus, it is estimated that when this wave is over, 1 in 3 people will experience an infection.
It doesn’t have to be that way. COVID is not an inevitability to just passively accept, it is a life changing disease (every time) that you should use every tool and tactic at your disposal to avoid.
You already know what to do. If you haven’t received the updated vaccine, do that. (It’s not a booster, it’s an update, in the same way the annual flu shot is updated.) Mask, any time you’re near people you don’t live with or where anyone else has been in the last 30 minutes. (This includes outdoor spaces, like picking up a no contact delivery or pumping gasoline.) Avoid crowds. Now is not the time for concerts and hockey games or even a leisurely stroll around Target to browse. Clean your air and demand clean air in your workplace and your kids’ schools and anywhere anyone in your family has to spend time.
If 1 in 3 Americans contract the virus on this wave, that means that another half million people are likely going to die, mostly elderly and high risk. (Like me.)
It also means that 11 million people — or more — are going to be disabled, at least short term, when this is done, and there are no reliable predictors for who does and does not develop post-COVID disability.
Those numbers are horrible. But don’t let them terrify you into paralysis, let them galvanize you into action to protect yourself and your family and community.

The 7 habits students should learn from the starting of school
Habit 1 - Be Proactive
I am a responsible person I take initiative. I choose my actions, attitudes and moods. I do not blame others for my mistakes. I can only be offended if I choose to be.
Habit 2 - Begin with the End in Mind
I plan ahead and set goals, I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I am an integral part of my classroom and contribute to my school 's mission and vision, and look for ways to be a good citizen.
Habit 3 - Put First Things First
I spend my time on things that are most integral. This means I say no to things I know I should not do. I set priorities, make a schedule and follow my plans. I am disciplined and organized.
Habit 4 - Seek First to Understand Then to be Understood
I listen to other people 's ideas and feelings. I try to see things from their viewpoints, I listen to others without interrupting. I am confident in voicing my ideas. I look people in the eyes when talking.
Habit 5 - Think Win-Win
I balance courage for getting what I want with consideration for what others want. I make deposits in others Emotional Bank Accounts When conflicts arise, I look for options that work for both sides.
Habit 6 - Synergize
I value other people 's strengths and learn from them. I get along well with others, even people who are different than me. I work well in groups. I seek out other people 's ideas to solve problems because I know that by teaming with others we can create better solutions than anyone of us alone. I am humble.
Habit 7 - Sharpen the Saw
I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep. I spend time with family and friends. I learn in lots of ways and lots of places, not just at school. I take time to find meaningful ways to help others.

10 Powerful Strategies to Conquer Procrastination and Boost Productivity
Tumblr media
1. Break Tasks into Smaller Steps
Large tasks can feel overwhelming. Divide them into smaller, manageable chunks to make starting easier. Completing one step builds momentum for the next.
2. Set Specific Goals
Clearly define what you want to achieve and by when. Specific, time-bound goals provide direction and reduce the tendency to delay.
3. Use the Pomodoro Technique
Work in focused intervals (e.g., 25 minutes) followed by short breaks. This method helps maintain focus and prevents burnout.
4. Eliminate Distractions
Identify and minimize distractions, such as turning off notifications or creating a dedicated workspace free from interruptions.
5. Prioritize Tasks
Use tools like the Eisenhower Matrix to sort tasks by urgency and importance. Tackle high-priority tasks first to reduce stress.
6. Set Deadlines
Even if a task doesn’t have a strict deadline, create one for yourself. Deadlines provide structure and a sense of urgency.
7. Reward Yourself
Associate task completion with rewards, such as a favorite snack, a short break, or an activity you enjoy. Rewards reinforce positive habits.
8. Practice Self-Compassion
Acknowledge that procrastination happens to everyone. Avoid harsh self-criticism, and focus on progress instead of perfection.
9. Visualize Success
Imagine how completing a task will feel and the benefits it will bring. Visualization boosts motivation and reduces resistance.
10. Start with the Two-Minute Rule
If a task takes less than two minutes, do it immediately. For larger tasks, commit to working on them for just two minutes; often, this initial effort leads to sustained focus.
By applying these strategies consistently, you can develop better time management habits and overcome procrastination. If you'd like more tailored advice or tools for a specific type of task, feel free to ask!

On health. Explanations and suggestions.
I know, in a world that basic human needs aren t met, talking about a healthy environment is an oasis/a delusion. It d be fair to say that spaces which focus on healing, hospitals and clinics to begin with, should be doing exactly that. Provide healing. It s quite devastating to visit these places and witness how much we lack the spine to act towards loving ourselves and others. White empty…

I Found Me
My personal journey started at the age of 46 with a cerebral palsy diagnosis I didn't know I had. It's a life to unravel. 14 years later and I know who 'me is'. It's been a long time in coming.
Finding yourself, isn't something that just happens, it's something you have to work on. Through my writing, a purpose to unravel my experiences, my life, I know now who I am. I am comfortable with who I am. I promote self-care. Perhaps The CP Diary can help you too.
The poem below reflects my feelings well.
In the reflection of a mirror, In the quiet of my thoughts, In the embrace of solitude, I found me.
I found the strength within, The courage to face my fears, The resilience to keep going, I found me.
In the moments of doubt, In times of uncertainty, I found my true self, And I am content with who I am.

Anybody have advice/resources for emigrating out of a country?
To answer your questions 1) yes, this is a sincere and legitimate request 2) yes, I'm aware this process is long and laborious (unless things escalate to the point we need to go full refugee which God forbid) and 3) it would be two adults (40s, advanced degrees, decent if not ideal health) and two minors.

You can't control the weather. You CAN wear a coat.
Seth Godin wrote on Medium that knowing what the weather forecast is give us the illusion of being able to control it.  Of course that’s not true.  We seek control in our lives and settle for these illusions without actually being able to do anything about it.  You can’t control whether or not it’ll snow, but you can prepare by putting on coats and boots. You can’t control whether or not…
