playing through with my friends over vc and us making up funny bits and doing voices while we're at it! We had one playthrough where the main character was named paperwork and all their diologue was just paperwork, by the time it was done i was struggling not to say paperwork in the middle of random conversations and frankly it was hilarious
when your friends like your game : ' )
that relatable feeling of playing a game or recalling an odd choice a game developer made in a game you loved once and being like oh I get it now. iiiiiget it now (*glances at pokemon in solemn understanding* i see why you didint do that now. I get it.
the loving feeling of you and your fellow programmer workign on a script and you putting your cursor next to theirs (it feels like a hug <3, its like, programmer cuddles, i am 99% that just an us thing) the utter TRIUMPH of getting something fully functional
when one of your friends decides to latch onto a specific character and loves them and its like YES PLEASE LOVE MY SON I WORKED HARD ON HIM HES A GIFT TO YOU YIPPIEEE
WHEN YOU TRY TO FIX A GLITCH AND THE GAME BOOTS UP PROPERLY AND NOTHINGS WRONG :D
the worst feelings:
when something you worked really hard on doesnt get much attention
when you cant solve a weirdly specific problem (*Shakes fist at color wheels*) and you know its objectively making your game MUCH worse and harder on the player, but you just cant find the information you need to solve it
when youve tried to fix the same bug 10 times and the error log isint changing
thinking you got all the bugs only to find out your newest update is a buggy disaster and one of your characters has decided to become a nudist and preform mitosis which was NOT your goal whatsoever because your naming conventions were flawed
when you have too many files and its just overwhelming-
messing up ONE letter or the indentation on something
problems that take 3 days or more to figure out solutions to
and as the artist and one of the two main programmers: character creation. i understand now why its not more common in video games. this is hard. I definitely intend to do it but golly
trying to balance stats and things
when the game crashes while youre bugfixing-
trying to figure out what strange seemingly alien language your fellow programmer is using to get amazing results because you have to understand how it works so you can actually use the amazing system they made but if you COULD understand it very easily already you would have made it yourself so youre just crawling through it trying to reverse engineer it so you can avoid breaking what they made and add onto it lol

What is "Gods hate Mixtape?"
Gods hate Mixtapes, is a 2.5D Metroidvania Prototype Game. I have been Working on. It uses Unreal Engine 5.
You play as Vanity, one of the Deadly sins no one even remembers about. something weird is going on in hell...Demons turning into?? ANGELS?? Thats not what usually happens in hell, but Vanity comes with a unique power! her affection for tapes made her really one of a kind!

Spools! a great topic Vanity! Spools are one methode to upgrade your stats temporary. There are two types of Spools. Empty Spools which you can use to equip more Spools, and boost Spools, which can have unique effects like more health, more damage, or increase Soul Drops or lots of other fun effects. but keep in mind you cant change them in dangerous situations.

WOOOOOOO MORE CRYPTOGRAPHY STUFF
So, while thinking about how the game would play, I realized that there would be a lot of moments of silence and not much going on, which I felt might not be super fun.
Soooooo, I decided, why not make a little computer companion for the player character!
Say hello to... the still unnamed jackalope companion fella.

My plan is for him to be localized on the player character's computer, and he'll talk to you during levels, like reminding you of your objective or saying if he thinks there is a secret nearby.
I also plan for him to make comments about the pictures you take, just to add a bit of flavor to it! He'll also let you know when you have new emails (missions), congratulate you on achievements, and all sorts of stuff I'll probably come up with on the fly!
As you can see, I was partially inspired by Rambley from Indigo Park for have a "little creature companion", but I wanted our little jackalope friend to have a more supporting role as opposed to Rambley's more guide focused role.
Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas for a name! I wanted to avoid anything too on the nose like "Jack" or "Jackie", just because I wanted it to be a bit more creative, y'know?
I hope y'all don't mind me talking about Cryptography. Even if I'm only doing concept art and stuff, I still really like sharing what I'm doing! It's fun to get feedback and just let people in on passion projects.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling now! Thanks for reading!

June 6th, 2025 (Late Post) / June 7th, 2025
Sorry, this time I didnt post in time simply out of being tired. Lately when I work on the game I end up sleeping the second I get home, and yesterday had some extra stuff going on so I was extra tired.
Anyways I have good news! Checkpoint system and rings appear to be functional! The player loses rings and dies when touching an enemy with 0 rings, respawning at the checkpoint. Granted I say appear because I applied the simplest use of them and tested that way, so later I might have to fix some bugs related to it. I know I need to tinker more on the homing attack, it's not working properly since adding this type of hit detection. It's really tough to activate and feels like it only works when it wants...
If I get everything working, I think my next move will be adding something I won't spoil >:3 But alas that's for next week. In the meantime I've been working on this beta model for Heat. Why beta? Because it's literally my first time fully modeling, mapping, texturing, rigging, weight painting and animating in 3d. So she looks... quirky. Here's a little test animation I did of her walking shimmying

She looks so bad it's hilarious 馃槶 oh well it's what I'll have to make due with during these early development stages. I hope that by the time I start the actual levels I have a better model, probably made by my own hands again.
I'll try to come up with more promotional artwork this weekend, hopefully some more animations of her too. But for that I need to model Type H, which I think might end up better than she did. After all it's a friggin board.

Im making an interactive fiction dating sim for fun (nothing too serious, im just letting myself be whilst writing it) and now i have a problem
There are 6 characters you can romance here- 3 females and 3 males. Nothing wrong there until I SUDDENLY WANT IT TO BE A YAOI NOW
And the MC is a male bc idk how to change the gender and i am JUST learning how to code on my own

Have been a bit busy with university so I have not posted in a while.
Now I am behind schedule on almost all of my projects -_-
In any case I finished writing the outlines for both my interactive fiction games, managed to make a new version of my idle game and am remaking one of my older fnaf fan games.
Cycling between projects when I loose motivation seems to be doing the trick in keeping me from procrastinating too much.
At least for now. . .
Prob gonna post more stuff soon ^_^

The vertical capsules for my upcoming Visual Novel, 'Hindsight'.
I wasn't too certain about how I wanted it to turn out, as I felt it wasn't very in line with the previous, horizontal capsules, which all spoke to the horror aspects of the game. However, Hindsight is very much character driven, so I don't regret featuring Penny and Ethan, rather than focusing on the stalker and his looming presence, which I already did with my two horizontal variations.

They definitely have different vibes, but what I like about all of them is the focus on Penny's character, as well as my deliberate exclusion of eyes in all of the capsules.

I feel that every person who wants to criticize game design decisions or game developers should all be required to play The Beginner's Guide. It explains the importance of the artist/designer's intent so well and does a great job of criticizing people who don't create but feel the need to demean an artist's decisions.
It also does a fantastic job warning the player about misinterpreting what an artist is feeling/saying. So many people feel the need to assume what an artist is going through via their art, which can help elevate what the artist is saying, but are often parasocial and weird about it.
Please play The Beginner's Guide if you are interested at all in what creators deal with, game design, the relationship between player and creator, and the importance of artist's intent. It's such a slept on game and it is so important in today's age

What exactly is The Ashtray?
Well, this is my passion project that I have been creating for several years now. It will be an Indie Horror point and clicker with Visual Novel elements. It uses a very famous concept which is the Killing Game, so the thing is that NO ONE is safe here.
What will stand out, exactly?
The idea is that you as the player have a huge influence on your gameplay and who can survive. Who you talk to, who you spend time with, and how you solve puzzles can significantly change your path through the game. (We can be trusted with writting such a huge amount of text, the writer is autistic and this is their hyperfixation)
The story will be more realistic and the writing of violence, death and trauma will be handled with great sensitivity.
So.. What is the concept of the game?
Seventeen randomly selected participants will be divided into three groups:
Killer, Officer, and a Judge; There is only one judge and he cannot be killed because everyone will die.
Killers and Officers pair off, one killer for one officer. And now the game begins: when the participants are paired it begins first Killing Week, this means that at the end of the week the killers will be executed, unless the killer kills an officer - then takes a risk because at the end of the week, instead of a collective execution, the so-called Trial is held.
This is to prove who the real murderer is, if they miss, the killer escapes alive and all the officers die, and if they hit, only the killer dies.
Final verdict gives the Judge. After that, the roles are reversed, the officers are the killers and the killers are the officers, until one of the group will not become extinct. The Judge does not change throughout the game.

Here, I wanted to make a more complete introduction to these characters. They will be playable characters in my future game and are supposed to be the main trio for my future comic. Today, we will only focus on the game version of these characters. So, do keep in mind that if one day I release a comic, even if they have the same design, the characters can be completely different from their game counterparts. So in order, from left to right we have, Elliot Quartero, in the middle, the one kneeling is Dr. Vincent Quartero, and to the right is Sasha Yavanov.
general history of the game: The game happens in a universe where the anomalous and paranormal are quite common. Regular humans can acquire special powers, and there are even entire subspecies of humans called demi-humans which are born with them. But humans aren't the only ones, creatures and sometimes places also get anomalous properties. In recent decades, a bunch of stranger-than-usual events disrupted the world. The apparition of a dark anomalous forest in the middle of Siberia. And now, a giant rift in the sky spewing fragments of places beyond their world has put humanity in danger. The objective of you and your agents is to keep the peace and destroy anomalies when needed.
Elliot Quartero:
Age: 19 Size: 181 cm (5'11)
Birthplace: unknown, likely France
Personality: Elliot is a happy little guy, he still has a sort of child-like naivety with which he sees the world. He is kind to everyone he sees, enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate. Overall, he is the kind of person who can lift everyone's moods up just by being present, he is a symbol of hope and happiness to those around him. Although he is still quite a fierce fighter, he also had his own share of bad events in life but always seemed to bounce back from them.
History: Despite being abandoned soon after birth, his early life was calm and unremarkable. That is excepted for his rare disease. Elliot was born as part of the demi-human species. His species is quite common, it gives him the ability to transform and gain animal features that can have various uses. The problem with him is that contrary to the majority of his species, he can sometimes go into a feral state whilst transformed. Being the innocent boy that he is, he becomes terrified of possibly hurting others. Fortunately for him, a good doctor named Vincent Quartero decided to teach him how to control himself better and became his mentor. Once he became an adult, he even took the doctor's last name. Gameplay: Elliot is a glass canon. High damage output, low health, high agility. He mostly uses swords and pistols as his main weapons. Special ability "Claws out": Elliot can transform into his beast form. This gives him the tail, ears, claws, and fangs similar to a fox. It makes him even stronger and faster at the cost of not being able to use anything but a melee weapon whilst in this state. You must also be careful that he doesn't become feral by limiting how long he is transformed. Dr. Vincent Quartero:
Age: 35
size: 216 cm (7 foot)
Birthplace: France Personality: the doctor is intelligent and kind. Despite his intimidating size and musculature, he is a gentle giant. He has been known to help fight against an infestation of supernatural creatures on multiple occasions and is a good fighter. Although not as naive as Elliot, the doctor can still seem a little immature for someone in his mid-30s.
History: Vicent was born as a very rare but very powerful species named "pure souls". At a young age, he demonstrated impressive feats of strength and durability. Over time, the doctor decided to put his skill to use and fight against danger head-on. As he aged, he became a little wiser and also decided to get himself a doctorate in Chemistry. Gameplay: The doctor is slow but with a lot of health. He can mostly use heavy weapons and snipers. He has a very limited mobility but an enormous strength meaning that if enemies get too close to him he can hit VERY HARD. Special ability "Regeneration": The doctor has an extreme regeneration, if he gets enough damage during a fight, instead of being out of the fight, the doctor will heal and get back up in a few turns Sasha Yavanov: Age: 20 Size: 186 (6'1) Birthplace: Krasno茂arsk, Russia Personality: On the outside, Sasha looks cold. She also tends to use violence as the first solution for anything. Not very talkative either, but still, very smart. Despite this exterior, Sasha is deeply afraid to loose those around her and wants to protect them at all costs. History: Born in Krasno茂arsk, the capital of Siberia, her early childhood was unremarkable. However, when she was still young a terrible catastrophe hit Russia. The sudden and unexplained apparition of a gigantic forest in the middle of Siberia from which creatures came. The town quickly fell into chaos and you now had to worry about the bandits as well as the creatures. Her family went further into Siberia to escape the chaos of the big towns. There, she learned survivalism, she learned to love people because they could die any day, and she learned to kill them too if necessary.
gameplay: mid-health, high damage, high strength, and low agility, Sasha specializes in area denial. She has a high damage potential including a good melee strength and can tank quite a few hits. Her usual weapons are shotguns. Special ability "Rewriters ink": Sasha can produce a substance from the palm of her hand. This liquid has a texture and looks similar to ink. Using this "ink" Sasha can extract the properties of an object or a person. For example, she can take someone's ability to see, she can take away the friction from the floor making people unable to walk on it, or she can even take away gravity from a room making everyone float in it. In-game, there is a meter on each enemy, each time she hits them, the meter goes up and Sasha can take different things away from them, at 30% she can take their ability to walk, at 60% she can take the ability to see and at 100, she can take away their consciousness. your making a game?? :O thats so cool. I was into the procces of making games, I liked to see concept arts and their process (also the coding to some amount)

I will happily tell you about it!!!
So, it's a game where you play as an amateur photographer, who get's contacted by various people around the world to go and take pictures of different cryptids! Think stuff like bigfoot, mothman, Nessie. And the more photos you take, the more famous you become, getting contacted by more people and unlocking more places! But as you go, you also start getting contacted by a mystery person who begins to threaten you into not continuing your cryptid proving journey! It'll be more mystery than horror, and I've even considered making it a full on ARG!
I'm calling it "Cryptography" but I have a few back up names just in case, like "Folklore Photoshoot" and "Supernatural Snapshots"
It's not going to be out for a long time, as I'm self taught in every aspect of this with youtube videos and trial and error, as well as being the only person working on this lol.
I do, however, have a list of cryptids I plan to include and I mock-up title which I'm happy to share as well, and an entire plot synopsis that I won't share to keep the game's mystery aspect, well, a mystery

Hey! Didn't post in the last two days because I just didn't have any updates. But today is different!
Huge progress was done today! Including finally working on getting pearls to work :D Not much remains before getting a test level started, I just need to add more types of hazards basically!
And in even better news, I'm working on a second Heat model. One to be used for real. I'm way happier with this one! Look at her! Ignore the small flaw in her left eye though, I literally have no idea what might be happening...
