A Beginner's Guide to Crystals
Since childhood, I’ve always been fascinated with all things magical and otherworldly. I loved stories about witches, pretending to make potions, and experimenting with Ouija boards at sleepovers. I was particularly interested in the zodiac, and learning about my natal chart in high school was a formative experience for me. I was the resident expert on everything astrological (at least in my own…

June is a month of duality, growth, and deep-rooted magick. With the Sun in Gemini for much of the month, this is a time to explore curiosity, communication, and the many faces of truth. June’s correspondences invite us to work with both our light and shadow selves, finding strength in contrast and clarity in transformation.
Crystals like Pearl, Chalcedony, and Alexandrite each bring a unique energetic note. Pearl enhances emotional truth and protection, Chalcedony promotes calm communication and inner peace, and Alexandrite—known for its color-shifting magic—represents change, balance, and duality.
June’s animal guides also carry messages worth listening to. The deer reminds us to move with grace and gentleness. The eagle offers a higher perspective and clarity of purpose. The fox whispers cleverness, adaptability, and boundary-setting—a true witch’s familiar.
Deity work this month may involve connecting to powerful figures who bridge different realms. Artemis, protector of the wild and sacred feminine. Cerridwen, the Welsh enchantress of the cauldron and rebirth. Hermes, a guide between worlds. Odin, the seeker of knowledge, mystery, and magic.
And don’t forget June’s floral ally—rose. While sweet in scent, rose is a plant of protection and layered meaning. Use rose petals for self-love, emotional healing, and spirit offerings.
As always, let the magic fit your path. Use what resonates, and release the rest. Correspondences are a compass, not a rulebook.

a beginner’s guide to…
✨ altars ✨
here are some materials you can use for an altar, whether it is for your spellwork, a deity, or any other use! altars should reflect your personality, and be a space where you feel happy and safe :D
none of these materials are required, and everything is completely customizable to your beliefs! (just practice respect and safety obviously)
🕯️ basics 🕯️
an altar cloth is a piece of fabric that covers your altar. this could be a bandana, a small blanket, or even a piece of paper!
a glass plate is a mundane but VERY versatile altar piece. it can work as an offering dish, a tray to collect wax drippings, or just a little trinket holder
candles are an easy addition to any altar. you can use any type of candle, but my favorites are taper and prayer candles. scented candles are completely fine to use as well! choose candles based on color and scent
natural materials like crystals, flowers, plants, animal bones (responsibly sourced), etc. are an incredible addition to any altar! if you have a deity altar, learn about their associations and use this to guide your choice
paper and pen/pencil will be your best friend if you write petitions, draw sigils, etc. keep them near your altar for convenience
🌱 cleansing 🌱
many people believe an area should be “cleansed” before it is used as an altar or sacred space
methods of cleansing include incense, water cleansing, sage smudging, and more
incense cleansing is often done by wafting an incense stick or cone through a space and visualizing the smoke clearing out negative energy
sandalwood, lavender, and rosemary are common incense choices for cleansing
water cleansing is something i do a lot, it can be done by sprinkling water in an area or even washing/pouring water. regular tap water is perfectly fine, but you can also incorporate moon water, sun water, rainwater, etc.
smudging with sage involves burning a bundle of sage and, similar to incense cleansing, wafting the smoke through the area. sage smudging is traditional to indigenous tribes like the Lakota and Navajo. as a result, sage smudging (especially the use of white sage) is often considered cultural appropriation when done by non-indigenous people. i am not indigenous nor do i use sage, so i am not incredibly well versed on the subject but i thought i should include it. always do research and practice respect and sensitivity 💌
🌙 takeaways 🌙
finally, your altar is YOUR space. you can include or exclude anything you want; your space doesn’t need to be “aesthetic” or make sense to others
my first altar was a cardboard box with one candle and a handful of crystals. it wasn’t expensive or fancy, but it got me into my practice
through the years, my altar has grown and changed as i have
if you want to make an altar, start with what you have! you would be surprised how powerful your resources are 🩷

Star’s beginners guide to Aphrodite worship 🐚💕
Who is Aphrodite?
Aphrodite is the goddess of love, sex, beauty, seduction, and war. She is most commonly known for her immense beauty and her many associations with sex.
What are some things she is associated with?
Doves
Flowers like roses
The colors pink, red, blue, green, white, and gold
Crystals like rose quartz, clear quartz, pearls, diamonds, sapphires, amethyst, rubies, moonstones, and aquamarines
Incense that smells of rose, cinnamon, myrrh, frankincense, vanilla, and jasmine
Her tarot cards, The Lovers, The Empress, and The Star
What can I give to her as offerings?
Shells or shell imagery
Ocean imagery
Swan and dove imagery
Heart imagery
Valentine's day gifts like chocolates
Imagery/paintings that depict her
Roses or rose imagery
Doing skincare for her
Perfumes or colognes
Hairbrushes
Mirrors
Doing your makeup
Moonwater
Strawberries, apples,and raspberries
Devotional acts or things you can do in her honor
Giving compliments to people
Collecting things you find pretty
Wearing jewelry you've offered or devoted to her
Watch or read romantic material
Self-love
Masturbation (if comfortable in doing so)
Sex (if comfortable in doing so)
Wear perfume dedicated to her
Spend time with loved ones
Create a digital altar (these can be done on Pinterest)
Write poetry about her
Write a letter to her
Create or listen to a playlist dedicated to her
Talk to her (tarot cards, dice, pendulum, and other forms of divination work just fine)
What is it like working with her?
When it comes to Aphrodite, in myth, she was often known as a wrathful and jealous goddess. However, since the myths are just stories and are known to exaggerate some details, this isn’t usually the case.
However, when people mention to others that they are interested in working with Aphrodite, they usually say that you absolutely should not. That she is needy, requires a lot of attention and offerings, that if you don’t do what she says, she will take your beauty away.
This is also not the case.
In my experience as an Aphrodite worshipper, she is very loving, along with being insanely passionate. Also being very vocal about her needs and wants.
Often getting signs from her isn’t at all uncommon. I remember the first few weeks I started working with her, I got an image on my feed that had these two eels intertwined together in a heart shape.
You will often feel connected to sea life, the sea in general, wanting to do things for yourself like dressing nicer and wanting to take care of yourself more.
Here are some things I’ve experienced in my time in working with her.
When I first started praying to her, I stuttered and fumbled over my words. A lot. I was oddly nervous about it? I’m not the type to stutter and fumble often. But beginning to feel nervous and even embarrassed in the presence of the goddess of love? Very normal.
She often enjoys getting milk and dark chocolate, along with roses or any kind of flower, real or not. I gave her chocolates, a fake rose, and a real flower for valentines day and she was insanely happy with it. So much so that her candle rested in a heart shape for a short while.
I often saw butterflies, a symbol of Aphrodite.
I often feel inclined to go to the beach, collect seashells, and do things that make me feel good.
I feel more comfortable expressing love. Before, I was never the type to use pet names for people, especially for friends. But i’ve noticed that I now call people sweet and endearing names. Honeybun, sweet pea, boo, sweetie/sweetness, and babes are things i’ve been saying lately.
She is very honest, often not sugarcoating things. I asked her when my ex first asked me out if we’d last. She said no and gave me explicit reasons as to why. Though I still went out and dated them anyway, and it pretty much ended in the way she said.
She very much enjoys art work of her. I’ve drawn her a few times, asking her to guide my hand in doing so.
Whenever I feel unattractive or hate something about my appearance, she usually makes someone compliment me that day or that week. I was having an off day with my hair, and in that same hour, a girl walked up to me and said that she loved my hair and the style it was in.
That is it for my beginners Aphrodite worship guide! I will be doing these for the other two deities I work with, Apollo and Freyja.
I do hope these were helpful. If you have any questions or need assistance with anything, my ask box and my dms are always open. So be sure to shoot me a message!
Much love to you. <3

Beginner Witch's Guide: Crystals
Today's witchy lesson is on crystals! Specifically, crystal shapes and their meanings, types of crystals and their meanings, and what you can use crystals for in your practice!
---
Basic Crystals and Their Meanings:
Clear Quartz -> Clear quartz is known for its ability to amplify intention and magnify the energy of other stones around it
Selenite -> Selenite is good for cleansing and purifying the area and objects around it
Amethyst -> Amethyst provides a peaceful and relaxing energy
Carnelian -> Carnelian is known for boosting creative energy and allowing for better creative flow
Rose Quartz -> Rose quartz is known for supporting and amplifying love of all kinds (self love, romantic love, platonic love, etc.)
Pyrite -> Pyrite (also known as 'Fool's Gold') is known for drawing in success and fortune
Obsidian -> Obsidian sucks in negative energy from the surrounding space providing protection from unwanted energies and negativity
---
Crystal Shapes and Meanings:
Cube -> Cube shaped crystals are often tied to grounding and would be good to use during meditation or meditative spellwork.
Sphere -> Sphere shaped crystals are thought to be more balanced with the energy they emit, splitting it evenly in all directions. They are good to use in grounding work (like meditation) or for protective spells/energy.
Pyramids -> Pyramid shaped crystals are most commonly associated with the idea of communing with celestial bodies or with the universe. Pyramid shaped crystals would be beneficial to use in deity worship or working with deities for spellwork.
Tower/Point -> Tower and point shaped crystals are known to amplify intention and point it in a certain direction. In my opinion, they are the most universally helpful shape and so can be used for a variety of spells.
Palm Stones -> Palm Stones are flat disks of stone that can be placed in one's palm and are often used to provide soothing energy. When placed in the palm they can be rubbed to provide therapeutic relief in moments of anxiety.
Cluster -> A cluster is a mix between a sphere and a point. The energy is emitted in all directions, but not evenly. They are most beneficial for spells and powers you want amplified, but don't need to be even or concentrated in one particular area.
---
General Crystal Tips:
When purchasing crystals, make sure the ones you are buying are coming from reputable, ethical sources and are actual crystals!
Before letting any crystal come in contact with the sun or with water, make sure it is safe to do. Some crystals are known to leech harmful chemicals or elements into water when submerged while some will just erode away in minutes. Some crystals can also fade if left in direct sunlight for a long time (amethyst is one of these so keep that in mind!)
If you do not like working with crystals, think something works better for you than crystals, or simply are just not interested in working with crystals, they are not necessary for the craft! Crystals (like any other witchy tool) are optional but can not only provide useful energies or attributes, but also just look super cool and are great to put on altars or in spaces around your home!
---
Well, that's all for my beginners guide to crystals! There are so many more crystals out there with their own unique shapes, attributes and energies that I suggest going and doing more research as you start to collect crystals! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out, I love talking to people and love making new friends <3
Valete my friends! :3

Witchcraft is literally out there for free!
I feel like most beginner witches start in Autumn, with the so called "season of the witch" but if anything, now is the time to start! This is the true season of the witch, the summer season!
Lots of beginners think that you have to buy a lot of the tools and ingredients witches use, but that's further from the truth. Witchcraft should be and is accessible to everyone!
Magic comes from within you. No amount of tools will do the magic for you, you have the harness the tool's and ingredients magical property through your energy and magic.
Tumblr media
Magic with NO ingredients:
Singing, chanting, murmuring, announcing, praying, yelling - think of speaking it into existence!
Dancing, moving, exercise, yoga, clapping - As offering, or moving stagnate energy.
Meditation - Obvious, to clear the mind, and focus.
All your senses - Be aware of spirits talking and listen, or listen to the wind, talk to the wind, taste your food, taste the magical properties, see auras, see spirits or see visions, touch things and feel their energy.
Friends - Ever seen those "send thoughts and prayers" post? well that's because the more people we use for a spell, the more energy we give a spell. So if you're comfortable, ask your friends to send energy your way for a spell or wish you luck on exams, or jobinterview, or wish you a happy birthday, or to send healing energy by wishing you good recovery.
Charging, binding, banishing - through feeling, visualization, hearing and more. Charge your spells using your energy.
Magic with ingredients for FREE:
Physically you and people - Hair, nail clippings, sweat, blood, tears, etc.
Power of animals - Either your pet, or animals in your park, nearby forest, lake, ocean. Just being near them to lend their powers.
Botanicals - You can go outside right now to your nearby forest or park and pick up herbs, leaves, flowers, dirt, grass, etc for spells! You don't have to buy them
Your kitchen - You most likely have a spice rack and can use that for your spells, the same goes for baking items like flour, sugar, etc can be used. I know you've already bought these items and therefor used money but, it's free in the sense if you already had them.
The elements - Not just outside but they're also inside you! You breath air, your body heat is the fire, your skin is from and will be earth, you are made of 70% water.
Rocks - You don't have to buy crystals, you can find quartz in river banks and creaks or hag stones at beaches, or just rocks you like. from your drive way.
More magic for free I couldn't categorize:
Celestial bodies - You can easily work with celestial bodies like the earth (being that we're from here) and the moon!
Days and hours - Cast your spells on a specific day, no ingredients or tools required. if you want a spell of luck, cast it on a Thursday and so on!
Working with spirits - Talk to the plants, animals, forests, trees, your house, and more! The simplest offering you can do for no money is picking up litter in your are or forest or beach or park you like to go to. Dancing and singing are also offerings for zero money.
Thresholds - Cast your spells in specific areas like crossroads, graveyards, ruins, natur, or even in your own home such as casting dream spells in the bedroom.
Researching - You can find many online resources for free on the internet, from youtubers to articles, helpful image guides and blog posts. Remember to go beyond the witchcraft sphere. In order to find and identify the right herbs, learn from herbalists and foragers, not just witches.
Substitutions - If you don't have a certain thing, research and look further for something else. You don't have to buy that ingredient if you have something similar, especially in your area or in the realm of what you usually buy.
Low budget magic:
Tea lights - As candles.
Rubber bands - I always get rubber bands for free when buying eggs, and you can use rubber bands for binding spells or to hang your herbs up with instead of string and ribbon.
Tap water - Depending on your area i suppose, but you can use water for everything, even as an offering to spirits, they're probably thirsty.
Arts and crafts - Printer paper and pens that I've taken from office buildings that can be used to write, make sigils, and draw for spells and offerings.
Reused jars - From pickles to marmalade, you can save those jars and use them to contain dried herbs and spells. This can count too with bottles from vodka or lemonades. I use those bottles to store waters like river water.
Mentioned it already but... your kitchen - Your spice rack, baking ingredients, coffee mugs, glasses, scale, plates, pots, pans, knives, and more! I use a plastic spoon ment for soups in my kitchen for stirring my potions, I don't use those fancy extremely tiny detailed teaspoons. don't have a morter and pestle? place your ingredients in a bg and hammer it and role it with a rolling pin, should be good enough.
Even if you don't have access to nature in an aesthetic sense, there's still plenty of ways to do and perform magic. Nature still exist in the city. It's there in the dogs barking, the dandelion through the concrete, the bird shit on your window, the icy on buildings, the leaves on the ground, the pollen in people's noses, the sun in the area, the puddles from rain, the rocks rom car tires picking them up, the wind in your hair.
This is just what I can think of right now, I bet there's many more things out there in the realm of witchcraft for free because that's what witchcraft is. It's free.

Points that might help you to read Tarot as a Beginner (written from the personal experiences)
Tip from personal experience- Before reading the meanings behind the cards, tap into your intuition and listen to what it tells you. You can always interpret your cards even if they don't match the traditional meanings. Make a bond with your decks, it will help you to have a more smooth Tarot journey. Always thank the cards and the Guides/Spirit Team/The Universe after you are done reading. Try to cover your head while doing the readings to prevent any additional info from downloading into your Crown Chakra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Focus- I cannot stress enough about the focus part while reading Tarot cards. When you are focused, you are more likely to be able to interpret the symbols on the cards accurately and intuitively easily without stressing yourself. This is because your mind is not distracted by other thoughts or worries, allowing you to connect with the deeper meaning of the cards. Plus it'll give you more clarity to listen to your intuition while you are preparing for a reading or asking cards any questions.
2. Know the meaning or Basic traditional meanings of the Tarot Cards- For this, I would suggest you start with the traditional Rider-Waite Tarot deck. While we are free to interpret the cards as we like it is also important to know the basic meanings of each card. For example: The Death card does not talk necessarily about the literal death but the transformation. To me, it looks like someone is leaving their past behind and moving on to their next phase whilst going through major transformations.
3. Practice- Practising is also a very important part of learning how to read Tarot cards. I know that sometimes it's very overwhelming to memorize it and do it again and again but practice as much as you want. It will not only help you to build confidence but also will strengthen your ability to read them easily with the help of your intuition. For starters, you can draw one daily card to reflect on its meaning. I did for a few days and wrote whatever meanings came through and later, I matched it with a few of the traditional meanings.
4. Shuffling, Cleansening, and asking your Spirit Guides- Shuffling isn't about just randomly putting Tarot cards, it's more than that. It's a kind of process that helps you to focus more on the meanings again. It will help the reader's energy to get mixed up with the Cards or Decks. Tarot cards absorb energy, I think we all know that. I didn't even let other people touch my decks for 1 year because I was scared that it would mess up my decks because I wasn't aware of the cleansing methods. You don't have to cleanse it after every read, its totally up to you ngl. If you feel, you can do it but it's not mandatory. For cleansing, you can either use smoke of herbs or sage. Some people use crystals as they place them on the top of their decks and some prefer the Full Moon night to cleanse their decks. I use the sage method because it's more convenient for me. Now, Spirit Guides- they are basically our guides in the form of Spirits that help us with their guidance and support. Every being has one spirit guide or a Spirit team assigned to them. You can connect to them through meditation or using your intuition. (It's a deep topic so maybe I'll make another post about it).
5. Do not read when you are tired- Reading Tarot cards while being tired can mess with your energy as well as your ability to concentrate to read the cards with the help of your intuition. Plus, it can even mess with your intuition and cloud it. There is also an increased risk of a negative or pessimistic outlook on the questions you are asking. For me, giving respect to the cards, I don't read them when I am feeling blue.
PS- These are from my personal experience. If you have any other variants, you are more than welcome to add them here. I will keep adding more in the future.
Thank you
Infinity ❤️

understand that this is not the way I started out, unfortunately I didn’t have a good mentor (my cult leading ex) so do as I say not as I do but channeling egregores, energies, or any spiritual entities should be approached with care, intention, and protection. here’s a step-by-step guide to do it in a healthy and protected way:
how to channel (the process)
understand what you’re channeling
fully understand the nature of the egregore or energy you want to channel. know its origins, purpose, and possible effects on your energy field.
ask yourself why you want to channel it. ensure your intentions are clear and aligned with your higher self. always use discernment (meditation strengthens this).
prepare your space
use tools like palo santo, incense, or sound (singing bowls, bells) to cleanse your space.
set up protective boundaries by visualizing a white or golden light surrounding your space. you can also use crystals like black tourmaline, obsidian, or selenite.
(bonus) create an altar or designated area with items that ground and inspire you (e.g., candles, sacred symbols, photos).
protect yourself
I use music personally and ground myself with a quick prayer before channeling for a reading or my own drs.
invite your spirit guides, ancestors, or a deity you trust to watch over and guide you.
set your intentions
be clear about why you want to channel this energy or egregore. set an intention like, “i invite this energy for guidance and understanding.”
channel responsibly
as a beginner, I recommend entering a meditative state to raise your vibration and attune to the energy. focus on your breath or use a mantra.
mentally or verbally call upon the egregore or energy with respect, saying something like, “i invite [name of energy] to connect with me now.”
pay attention to sensations, emotions, or messages that come through. write them down if necessary (automatic writing for the winnnnn).
keep your sessions short initially to avoid overexerting yourself.
stay grounded
when the session is over, thank the energy and clearly state that the connection is now closed. for example: “thank you for your presence. I now release this connection.”
eat something, drink water, or do something that feels grounding.
ongoing protection and self-care
cleanse after every session. use the same tools as in step 2. spiritual hygiene is NECESSARY.
if you feel drained or unbalanced, take a break from channeling and focus on grounding and healing.
journal your experiences to track patterns or warnings. I have experienced spiritual attacks before. when you use discernment it becomes incredibly apparent which energies are yours and which are not.
get comfortable saying no
if an energy or egregore feels oppressive, invasive, or misaligned, firmly banish it and take assertion over your space. say something like, “you are not welcome in my space. leave now.”
tools
use talismans, amulets, or spiritual tools that resonate with protection.
find balance
obviously it’s fun to channel your dr people’s energies but don’t over-rely on channeling. I always say relying on external validation does little for you in the long run. make sure you continue your focus on getting to your drs.
hope that helps and happy shifting!
