Dean coming out to anyone else first << Dean coming out to bobby
Dean is drunk off his ass because it’s the only way he could manage to do it. I imagine it’s Stanford era dean? And he’s like, HEART BROKEN confessing this to Bobby. Like he’s telling him he just murdered a bunch of innocent children. And Bobby is mad, at John. For filling deans head with such stupid shit. And tells dean such. And then pulls him into a real, honest to god bear hug. And deans hiccuping, drunk, probably crying a bit but they mutually decide not to mention it. And Bobby tells him about some hunters he’s known over the years. How fine they are, how people in the hunting community tend to not give each other shit over it. And then they never speak about it again. However Bobby does remember finding a teen magazine in his house one time, with hearts and little doodles drawn around Patrick Swayze/Patrick Dempsey/Harrison Ford. It was never really a surprise.
my unpopular opinion for the day: i don't like the way the 911 fandom shoehorns the firefam into a nuclear family situation. Bobby may be a father-figure for Buck, but he is not really his father and Athena is definitely not his mother. neither of them raised Buck, or even knew him when he was a kid, and that's kind of a big part of being a parent
the thing that pisses me off is the mom!Athena thing, because it feels like the only reason people say that is because of Bobby and Athena's marriage. Buck and Athena never had that kind of relationship. she may affectionately scold him, but like Bobby she didn't raise him, and unlike Bobby, she doesn't feel any kind of responsibility towards him. she loves him and cares for him, and he's part of her family, but that doesn't make her his mom. in fact, Buck already has a mother figure, and it's MADDIE. frankly, Maddie is more of a parent to Buck than Bobby is
and this goes for Maddie, May and Harry too. Bathena are not parent-figures for Maddie. Athena is Maddie's friend, and Maddie's on-screen relationship with Bobby is almost non-existent, same with Buck and Maddie's on-screen relationship with May and Harry. they're not siblings, as far as we know they barely know each other.
I just hate the way people want to shove Buck and even Maddie into the Grant-Nash family like a little nuclear family cutout. Bobby will always feel responsible for Buck, more so than he does for the rest of the firefam, and Bobby is one of the most important people in Buck's life. but being a parent isn't just about a relationship dynamic, it's about child-raising, and money, and teaching.
We lost Madney wedding planning 😢 Henren bonding with Mara 😢😢 Bathena shenanigans with Harry (and May?) 😢😢😢 and Buck coming out to his loved ones 😢😢😢😢 by skipping to the wedding due to the shortened season.
something about how in-tune the jaiden-roier-bobby family is with each other. they know each other’s strengths like the back of their hands, and know when to step in if needed and when to let go.
when speaking of his revenge plans against spreen and quackity, roier involves bobby, saying he plans to use bobby’s strength as the best and strongest dragon to overpower them. it may seem like he’s using his son as a weapon, but no—bobby loves fighting. he jumps into battle without a second thought, whether it be dungeon-diving with roier, wrestling with tilin, or protecting jaiden from mobs, the kid loves a good battle. he’s excited to be able to avenge his dad!
alternatively, when talking about those very same plans, roier never includes jaiden in the combat. jaiden’s not a fighter. he knows this, and she does as well. still, she wants to be there for him, and to aid him in any way she can. so, instead of helping through combat, she offers her aid in words. if roier ever needs someone to distract spreen, or butter him up further, she’ll be there for him without a second thought. she doesn’t push roier to back down; in turn, he doesn’t push her to do more. they both offer their honest selves, and because of that, they know there’s nothing to push for.
they all bounce off each other so well and offer backup for each other’s weaknesses in a way that’s not belittling or insulting. their abilities are what they are, and there’s nothing wrong with what they can or can’t do. as long as they’re able to be there for each other, they’ll all be okay.
the fact that dean just wanted to be loved without conditions or expectations. and cas was arguably the only one who tried and even then, he couldnt afford to.

Summary
The Buckley parents come to town, turning Buck's already shaky mental status from precarious to worse. Despite avoiding a dreaded dinner at all costs, Buck consents to join Maddie, Chimney, and his parents for dinner. Buck is super fine thanks for asking, he'll just bake about it. And think about kissing Eddie, obviously. Secrets are revealed, leaving the 118 reeling.
snippet
Buck is the first one out of the truck when they park. His body seems to be moving on pure muscle memory alone. He anxiously awaits his orders while Chimney and Hen race over to assess the situation. Bobby calls for tools after a quick survey of the incident, and Buck quickly responds. He shoulders the necessary items and bags before racing to join the paramedics and his captain. He nearly stumbles on his own feet when a strong sense of déjà vu blindsides him. Reality sinks in the closer they get to the site of the incident.
The 118 was selected to respond to a call at a skatepark, and although he’s never attended one before, he’d had his fair share of firefighters and paramedics come to his aid at the local skatepark back home. Flashbacks from the night before momentarily flood him, and he’s about to properly start spiraling, but before he can, a rough hand on his shoulder snaps him out of it.
Buck realizes that Eddie had nearly completely run him over in their rush to the patient due to his abrupt halt. Bobby’s voice travels over the comms again, spurring Buck into motion, but he feels a bit like his limbs are part of a marionette. He carefully scales down into the partial bowl of a section of ramps while other young adults and teenagers watch on anxiously from above.
Nearest to the scene of the accident is an angry mom screaming at her kid, who has gotten his ankle trapped in some railing on a downward slope, feeding into the bowl. The skate board is lying upside down a few feet away, and Buck’s stomach swoops.
“Where do you need me?” Buck asks Bobby, but his voice sounds so far away that he’s half surprised that Bobby answers or even hears him. His captain doesn’t even seem to notice anything is off, which is preferable to having to explain his sudden panic.
Jack: Yeah, he-he wasn't all bad, my dad. Uh, that's what makes our parents loom so large in our heads, I think. They're… a million things to us all at once.
And even after they're long gone, we're stuck with them. Can't help it. They're inside of us. You know, my whole life, I promised myself I'd be nothing like him, but…I ended up just like him.
Kevin: No, Dad. You're way better than him.
Jack: Thank you, my son. And you're gonna be way better than me.
i'm mourning the loss of purgatory's Government Assigned Team Dynamics (because i'm a sucker for shaking up dynamics and the forced interactions of people who may not otherwise have spoken) so please indulge me with your dream egg parenting group i'll start, bagi tina and rivers [i'm right]
I guess it makes sense. Jean's parents had every right to want her to go to a normal college. I mean, she graduated Professor X's academy around Issue #6. It makes sense to want her to move on. (X-Men #24):
Hello, five (or more, I wouldn't say no) spontaneous headcanons about a willex boarding school au? 👀 (sfw please)
-When Caleb gets a call that his sister left custody over her son to him, a nephew he never even knew he had, he is like: wtf. When he comes to meet with the social worker and sees the long hair, tie-dye crop top, and earring, he’s like: of course I am taking him in. (There’s a reason he hasn’t talked to his family for decades and he will not have them do the same to Willie as they did to him.)
Except being a full-time parent and running the HGC is not a great combination, especially with Willie’s flair for Chaos. So he makes him a deal: he can go to any boarding school in the country, or even the world, if he promises to behave enough not to get kicked out, and in return he can wreak whatever chaos he wants in the summers (within reason).
-Willie chooses the boarding school because they have a great art program, they’re queer-friendly (Caleb called to check), and it’s in the Woods and he 1) always liked the woods and 2) wants to see Bigfoot.
-Alex’ parents sent him to boarding school after he came out. Alex is not sure he understands their reasoning, given that it is an all-boy’s boarding school and that is like the opposite of ‘straightening him out’, but anything is better than the icy silence at home. Alex’ parents do not know the entire stack of Hot Gay Boarding School Romance Novels under his older sister’s bed that Alex may or may not have borrowed.
-Listen Alex likes his roommate Luke and he’s kind of open to the idea of starting a band with him but also he is SO ENERGETIC and he cannot sit still and he’s always humming and it drives Alex insane.
-So he goes to hide out in the library. Not the fancy new one with amazing computers and a 3D printer and shit, the dusty old one nobody uses because the wifi is shit and it‘s always cold and drafty but it looks great on pamphlets for the Old Money crowd. He bundles up in his hoodie and finds a comfy armchair and just gets to Be Still for a moment.
-Except his peace and quiet is interrupted at a gleeful shout and then a maniac on a skateboard comes into view, sliding his board on the fancy brass railings before landing hard and rolling right into Alex and his comfy armchair, sending both of them toppling backward.
-“Oh man you dinged my board” meetcute etc etc.
-Lots of cute sneaking around in the dark holding hands dates. Willie shows him how to get on the roof and it’s so peaceful and pretty there he loves it. They take up a blanket and watch the stars next time, and share their first kiss there.
-Maybe he sends his sister a postcard like: ‘Boarding school is great, I am learning so much, all this nature is so good for me, etc etc platitudes’ along with an abbreviated title of one of their favourite books with the chapter in which the main characters have their first kiss... on a rooftop.
- “I dunno what HGBSRNCH12 means, Mom, I think he was just trying to clean his pen or something, it’s just a random scribble. You know Alex hates when pens aren’t writing smoothly.”
-Soon they form a little group with Bobby (rich parents who travel a lot and don’t want to take him with them) and Reggie (the scholarship kid). Reggie is upset there are no secret societies at this school. He thought maybe none of them just wanted him, but he could still catch one in the act of secret society-ing. But Bobby (a legacy kid) told him there weren’t any.
-Obvs they start a secret society just for the fun of it. Since they can’t play music late at night without getting caught (then it’s not a Secret Society, Luke, you dumbass), their activities include Sneaking, Stealing Snacks, Trying To Find Bigfoot and/or Mothman in the woods, and picnics on the roof. But while wearing dramatic hoods and holding (fake, battery-powered, Alex does not trust these goofballs with fire) candles and stuff.
send me an au and i’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it
