Headcanon: Obito gets violently sick whenever he has a crush bc he's an Uchiha and feels everything way more intense

So. Uchiha feel emotions way more intense than non-Uchiha, yes?

Imagine Obito, who doesn't really have any friends but is desperate to be included, hearing the other kids talk about their little puppy-crushes. About feeling butterflies in your stomach and getting dizzy and nervous, all that jazz.

Then, enter Rin. Who's the first person to go out of her way to hang out with Obito and befriends him and gets to know him. And him, being so deprived of social interactions with kids his age, immediately latches onto her and they become besties-

And then he notices that his heart starts pounding and he gets butterflies whenever he's around Rin, and he just thinks to himself "Is this??? A Crush????" Since, y'know. He's got absolutely no reference to go off of and know the difference between friends and crushes.

What I'm saying is: Obito has no idea what having a friend feels like and is operating purely on what he heard other kids describe crushes to be like.

Years later he's slowly making friends with the other kids at the academy and has more experience on what having friends feels like, and he's cONFUSED as hell, because why the fuck does he get butterflies when he's hanging out with Asuma and Kurenai or sparring with Guy??!!

So he asks his Grandma what that's all about, and she just goes

"Well, you're an Uchiha, and we Uchiha are known to experience emotions about 10x more intense than others. What feels like a 'crush' to other kids is just what 'friendship' feels like to an Uchiha. I assure you, you'll know the difference when you truly develop feelings :)"

And Obito just thinks she's trying to comfort him because "No way that's true, how can my feelings get any stronger than this?!"

...flash forward to him, Rin and Kakashi being placed on Team Minato, and Obito realizing that Grandma was right when the sound of Kakashi's voice is enough to make him violently throw up

Turns out that those feelings could get stronger. A LOT stronger.

His friendship with Rin gives him comforting butterflies and a warm fuzzy feel up his spine that makes him smile for days.

Meanwhile, his rivalry (ITS NOT LOVE, IT'S NOT LOVE!!) with Kakashi makes him physically ill. Obito doesn't just feel warm and fuzzy when chatting (arguing) with Kakashi, he actually gets a fucking fever. Obito doesn't get comforting butterflies when he's around Kakashi, he gets violently sick to the point where he throws up whenever Kakashi so much as breathes in his direction.

And the worst part is: everyone knows what's wrong ("wrong") with Obito, literally everyone.

Everyone, EXCEPT FOR KAKASHI

One moment Obito is chatting with Asuma and Genma, he's completely fine and feels great! ....then Kakashi comes up to them (making sure he gets to the training grounds on time, lol). He doesn't even get a single word in before Obito goes pale, then,

"Obito-"

Hearing Kakashi say his name is enough to make him throw up into the nearest trashcan

Genma volunteers to help Obito get cleaned up, if only to escape the scene

Kakashi, watching them trott off: Tsk. Why doesn't he just go to the doctor already?

Asuma: ...

Asuma: Uhm. How long has he been... sick?

Kakashi: It's been like this for weeks. I honestly don't get why Minato Sensei has me go out of my way to fetch Obito every day when he's clearly too ill to be of any use during training.

Asuma: ...yea that's odd

->that cliffhanger was crazy imagine they weren’t renewed for a s2

Any sliver of hope you had of staying connected with him is gone, because the entirety of his essence is now gone. She’s stronger than me, I would have never given him up so easily. I admire that about her.

->for now it’s kinda giving atla except the war is intergalactic and lasted 10,000 years instead of 100.

Will you be continuing your SU AU comic?

I updated twice in like April, it hasn't even been that long since then. I've gone way longer between updates, and I even recently posted about how I planned to continue with the series going forward. I'm just genuinely a bit confused because I've been active, I've mentioned continuing in one of my more recent posts (I just checked, literally three posts ago), and I've always said that I will alert people if I decide to quit.

This probably comes across as me being short, and I apologise for that. It's just a bit strange that I tend to get these kinds of messages when I'm somewhat active, but not when I only update once a year for a few years.

Blah, but anyway I'm using this ask as an excuse to let people know that I'm getting my gallbladder removed shortly, sometime in the next month. The pain has been almost unbearable and I was in the hospital yesterday for it. So it WILL be a little slow going, but since for a few years I only updated the comic once a year, I figured you'd all be understanding <3 Thank you for reaching out, even if it did confuse me. I appreciate the engagement, and I appreciate people enjoying my comic enough to wonder.

i just realized. i feel like the saints could use someone on their side w like. actual medical knowledge? not just like someone who can do chemistry/drug making (like laura). i mean like. someone who has knowledge of effects and can perform some procedures when needed. like sure in the context of the game you just respawn at the hospital, but in the context of a story, wouldn’t you want someone who can sew up wounds effectively, knows how to properly tourniquet injuries, has a more encyclopedic knowledge of drugs and injuries and how to deal w them? like we saw how effective the saints are in this situation when johnny got stabbed in sr2 (yeah that insane car ride to the hospital was just a game mechanic/they were getting chased but still). a later mission proves they’re just sitting ducks in a hospital anyway. wouldn’t you want someone on standby if/when your insurance fraud gets a lil too dangerous.

anyway i’m just saying this bc like. depending on your canon/interpretation the saints potentially get two computer geniuses (kinzie and matt, and even shaundi canonically has a good amount of computer knowledge), but like who’s their medic. sure i bet they’ve all got some passing idea of what to do in some situations but god forbid someone need emergency treatment when there’s nowhere to go

I can't tell if jamarr exaggerates his stories to an extreme amount or if joe justhas to constantly tell him to chill haha. but based on tee confirming that jamarr does buy joe clothes ocassionally and he did buy him a chain - im going to say joe just likes privacy lol

Honestly I think it’s a combination of both? Ja’Marr exaggerates, says one thing then immediately another contradicting thing, doesn’t seem to have much of a filter, however you want to categorize it. Which I think is such a funny contrast to Joe - who is (almost) always very careful about how he expresses himself and how he wants to be portrayed. 

The “Ja’Marr Buys Joe Clothes Except No He Doesn’t Except Wait He Definitely Does” saga is probably my favorite thing in the world because what on earth is ANYONE talking about in this situation. Like, first Ja’Marr claims in the GQ interview:

"Joe literally won’t buy his own clothes. He always asks me to shop for him and drop it off at the house.” 

Which is almost definitely an exaggeration. I am sure Joe buys plenty of his own clothes (although loving the idea of Ja’Marr literally filling Joe’s closet with things he thinks he’ll like). 

And then, bringing it up completely unprompted in an interview a week later he says that actually that was “kinda” a lie, and that he hasn’t bought Joe anything but dinner - although now he’ll “have to [buy joe clothes] since that’s out now”. like ?????? First of all just because you “kinda lied” about buying Joe clothes does not mean that you now have to actually buy him clothes? And why did you lie about it in the first place? How badly do you want to buy this man clothes??? 🤨🤨🤨

So we spent the rest of the season completely confused about this story but just kind of accepting that Ja’Marr just says shit sometimes, who knows… and THEN in a groundbreaking (to me) interview with Tee, we learn that actually Ja’Marr has in fact bought Joe clothes: 

“Chase definitely gets Joe right. I’ve seen him buy clothes for Joe multiple times.” 

MULTIPLE TIMES??? and Tee has seen it for himself?? Which at this point means that Ja’Marr has now potentially lied about lying about buying Joe clothes?? For what purpose??? 

I have imagined and talked with beloved mutuals about what could be going on in this situation, presented here with varying levels of realism and hilarity: 

Ja’Marr has never bought Joe clothes and all the receivers are in on a big joke where they’re claiming that Ja’Marr buys Joe clothes just to fuck with him. Because it’s funny and why not.

Ja’Marr hadn’t bought Joe clothes before the interview, but had been planning on doing it and was so excited by the idea that he got ahead of himself and told GQ he was already doing it. And then “since it was out there” he had an excuse to start buying Joe clothes, with Tee as a witness. 

Finally back to the point of your ask (so sorry for all my rambling) and probably the most likely scenario - Ja’Marr tends to exaggerate and Joe tends to value his privacy. 

What I imagine is this, Ja’Marr has probably bought Joe clothes a few times. We already know that he’s bought him grills and he mentioned in a few interviews last season that he had bought Joe some pants. And probably a few more instances we don’t have details on. The man likes fashion and he likes Joe and it seems like he has a gift giving love language! He probably got excited and exaggerated a bit in the GQ interview because again, I’m sure Joe does not “always” ask Ja’Marr to shop for him lmao. And I wonder if the exaggeration is the part that Joe took exception to (if he even did! Joe’s never said anything about any of this! all we have is Ja’Marr’s word which we can NOT trust) - Joe likely doesn’t want the whole world thinking Ja’Marr buys ALL his clothes, he likes fashion too and I’m sure puts a lot of work into those game day outfits, even if Ja’Marr does help out sometimes. Plus he really doesn’t like sharing details about his relationships, even one as public as his friendship with Ja’Marr. (All he says is that he’s one of his best friends and they hang out all the time, Ja’Marr is the one giving details about UFC moves and going to Vegas together and keeping his stuff at his place etc etc). 

Joe likely gave Ja’Marr shit for how he phrased it and honestly sharing it with the world at all. Plus!!! I am always thinking about the timing of the article, coming out right when Joe’s appendix burst. I bet Ja’Marr was worried about his friend, felt bad about sharing some exaggerated details of their relationship, and simply decided to take ALL of it back. Because again, he really seems to only operate in extremes. So to make Joe feel better, instead of just clarifying his quote, he just decided to say ‘nope, sorry, that was a lie, never bought that man clothes in my life 😊' while Tee was probably at his locker listening to the interview like 🤨???

Anyway. that’s WAY TOO MANY words to answer your ask but please know I so appreciated getting it. Any excuse to ramble about these two as you can see!!
